The Best Deals On Backpacks For Kids, Teens & Adults For Back To School

The Best Deals On Backpacks For Kids, Teens & Adults For Back To School

Yesterday I told you about the hottest deals on preschool backpacks. Today I’ll let you know where you can score the best prices on backpacks for older kids for back to school. Obviously there is quite a difference between what a preschooler needs from what a kid in grade six needs backpack-wise, plus no reputable 11-year-old will carry around a 3D doggie.

When kids get into grade one, what they have to carry home gets a little more. Read the rest of this entry »

Sears Canada: wholeHome 9′ Round Patio Umbrella Was $100 | Now $54 & Free Shipping

Posted by on July 12, 2015 at 9:00 AM

Sears Canada: wholeHome 9 Round Patio Umbrella Was $100 | Now $54 & Free Shipping

Sears Canada has a large summer clearance going on and if you’ve been sitting on your deck or patio with the sun blasting on you and wish you had a way to cover up, Sears has the deal for you. Get the wholeHome/MD 9′ round patio umbrella with a regular price of $99.99, now for $53.95.

Yesterday I was sitting on my deck and was very grateful for the umbrella I had because it was a cooker here in Ontario. I had sat in the sun at ribfest, sweating profusely and was glad to come home and sit in the shade and read. I spent quite a bit of money on my umbrella when I bought it last spring because I didn’t see any deals like this out there.

There are two colours left in this umbrella – yellow and hummus sand. Yellow is a gorgeous, bright colour that will liven up any outdoor space. Hummus sand is the opposite and I would say it is basically beige. Whatever your taste – lively or subdued – one of these umbrellas should work for you.

This umbrella is quite large around and will cover quite a bit of space. It has a non-rust aluminum pole with a three-position tilt (something my umbrella does not have and I wish it did!). It also has a crank operation and a polyester fabric that will withstand the elements. Just don’t leave it up in a storm unless you want to see it crash through your neighbour’s window. We’ve left ours up in some bad storms after not realizing our children have played with it (kids!) and all of the fabric ripped through. My lovely in-laws sewed all of the rips for us and it is now good as new. If it wasn’t, I would be jumping on this deal.

It doesn’t come with a base, but luckily I found one on clearance that works great with this umbrella. The wholeHome/MD 15″ steel umbrella base is available in two colours and was $39.99 and now $21.95.

Shipping is going to be free on your umbrella or umbrella and base purchase as it reaches the minimum of $50. If you are purchasing more than this item, you might want to check which coupon codes could work for your order. Sears codes can be finicky and don’t always work on everything (only on select items), but you should always, always, always, try every available coupon code on your order before you checkout. You never know what kind of extra discount you can get.

Sears Canada: 60% off Bath, Face, & Hand Towels – From $3.59

Posted by on July 4, 2015 at 3:48 PM

Sears Canada: 60% off Bath, Face, & Hand Towels From $3.59

I am not sure that towels ever wear out unless you have pets, but Sears Canada has a very good deal on the Cambridge ‘Keswick’ Ringspun Cotton towels. The bath towels, matching face towels, and hand towels are all 60% off their original prices!

I like this deal for many reasons. First, you can buy an entire matching set of three towels for a fraction of the regular price. Second, you can choose from so many different colours! The Cambridge towels come in nine colours including orange, grey, pink, blue, and more.

Bath Towel - Was $24.99 | Now $9.99

This towel measures 27″ wide by 52″ long. This is your basic towel for drying off after a shower or after a trip to the pool. I also tend to use these for mopping up really big spills (like my entire water bottle worth of water) on the floor.

Hand Towel - Was $12.99 | Now $5.19

the hand towel measures 16″ wide by 28″ long. Use these towels in your bathroom for drying wet hands. I also use one of these in the kitchen as hand towels are way more absorbent than dish towels. I do not get this whole fad with dishtowels where they just smear the water: they do not actually absorb it. Hand towels are better.

Face Cloth – Was $8.99 | Now $3.59

The face cloth, or wash cloth as I call them, measure 13″ square for ample coverage. Use them to remove makeup, wash dirty hands, and more. I love the absorbency of face cloths as opposed to other cloths. Therefore, I often use them for cleaning, dusting, washing dishes, and more. These are versatile little squares of absorbable fabric.

There are three reviews with two – very positive – and one negative. One of the positive reviewers said:

soft towels for the price cheerful colors to brighten up your bathroom

The negative reviewer had issues with the brand-new red towels shedding (lint!). The reviewer evidently washed his brand new red set with the grey set. When dealing with red dye, you really should wash anything new (and red) alone without other colours. Red is a very powerful dye and it really needs the first wash alone.

While you receive free shipping on $49, you are better off just having your new towels shipping – for free – to your local Sears drop-off location. There are 1300+ across Canada.

Sears Coupon Codes: $20 to $50 Off for Canada Day (EXPIRED)

Sears Coupon Codes: $20 to $50 Off for Canada Day (EXPIRED)

Sears Canada is offering $20 off $100 purchases or $50 off $200 purchases for Canada Day.

Click here to shop @ Sears Canada now

  • Coupon Code: 941612437
  • Discount: $50 off $200
  • Coupon Code: 941612433
  • Discount: $20 off $100
  • Expiry: 1st July 2015

Sears coupon codes are popular because the store carries such a large array of goods. Shop men and women’s clothing, kid’s clothing and toys, household goods and decor, as well as tools and appliances.

This coupon is applicable to select sale-priced items only. Those can be found through the link above. In the women’s section I found this comfortable plus-size Jantzen Square Neck 1-Piece Swimsuit on sale from $104.99 down to $62.99. This swimsuit uses colour blocking for balancing out the body and has a tummy slimming panel.

As summer is here, these Foamtreads ‘Alicia’ Leather Sandals are a great purchase. Originally $79.99, the sandals are now on sale for $35.99. At 60% off already, these shoes are a deal in themselves before the $20 off $100 coupon code. The Foamtreads ‘Anna’ Leather Sandal For Women is also on sale from $79.99 down to $35.99. Many sizes are still available between these two sandals.

Some furniture is also included in the selection of sale products for which these coupons apply. This ‘Montgomery II’ Space-Saver Recliner With Chaise was originally $999.99, but is now on sale for $499.99. Use the larger of the two coupons to reduce the price of this chair to $449.99. This chair reclines while still maintaining a small area space. It is designed to still recline while sitting close to the wall. The cozy fabric and hardwood frame are also nice.

Traveling anytime soon? This Atlantic AL30300 20” Expandable Spinner might just fulfil your carry-on needs. i am not only using carry-on luggage when i can because I do not want to pay extra fees for luggage. Originally $239.99, the luggage is on sale for $83.99. Throw this and a new pair of sandals (above) into your cart and you can take an additional $20 off your order.

Sears Canada recently changed their shipping policy. Now, receive free shipping to store on any order! This includes over 1300 pick-up Sears locations across Canada, You can also receive free shipping to your home on orders of $49 or more. This is a 50% drop from their previous free shipping minimum of $99. Of course, only orders under 65lbs qualify. The chair above would cost more.

For this and other Sears coupon codes, please visit our forum. it is bursting with Canada Day deals!

Sears Meddles In The Quebec-Canada Issues With Their Canada Day Flyer

Posted by on June 27, 2015 at 9:01 PM

Sears Meddles In The Quebec Canada Issues With Their Canada Day Flyer

We noticed a lot of unhappy chappies on Sears’ Facebook page, who were annoyed at the lack of patriotism in the Sears Flyer for Canada Day in Quebec. They’ve used the Fleur-de-Lis instead of the Maple Leaf. The fleur-de-lis is a symbol that has been used to represent French royalty – what does that have to do with Canada Day? Sears Canada’s Facebook page has been loaded with angry comments regarding their Canada Day Flyer. Why would Sears want to alienate Quebec even more so? Why would they meddle in the Quebec-Canada issues? Or do you think this was an honest mistake and mix up with John The Baptiste day.

I wonder why Sears Canada would advertise Canada Day in Quebec like this? Why would Quebec be the only province where they don’t display the maple leaf? Many Sears customers have presented their shock by commenting on the Sears Canada Facebook page. With over 25 angry customer comments on their Facebook page alone, I thought I would ask what you Moosers thought about the issue.

Here are some of the comments from the Sears Canada Facebook page:

I was just looking at your Canada Day sale advertising for Quebec and the rest of Canada, I found it shameful and disrespectful to have the fleur de lys instead of the maple leaf. I guess you lost a customer who lives in Quebec but is Canadian.

Another upset customer comment:

You should not meddle in the Quebec-Canada issues by printing a Quebec flag on Canada day sale. Not going to Sears any more and I will tell others not to. #SearsnotsoCanadian

I am especially surprised that Sears Canada has not answered any of their upset customers – even though they have posted on Facebook less than 7 hours ago and some of the unhappy customers commented over 2 days ago. Upon looking on the Sears website now though, the online flyers seem to be the same in QC and the rest of the country, so maybe they have changed them since a few people spoke out about it, but we are not entirely sure on that.

Do you Moosers think it seems almost hypocritical for Sears Canada to boast that they are “Proudly Canadian for over 60 years”? What is your opinion on this whole matter, and how does this affect Quebec-Canadians? Tell us in the comments below.

Sears Canada: 60% Off Swimwear Plus Extra Up To $50 Off (EXPIRED)

Posted by on June 23, 2015 at 10:01 AM

Sears Canada: 60% Off Swimwear Plus Extra Up To $50 Off (EXPIRED)

Are you bathing suit ready? No? Me either! But, this hot weather won’t last and before we know it we’ll be shuffling our kids into their parkas and shoveling the driveway, so we better enjoy it while it lasts! I recently read this article about how a lot of moms are too shy or feel bad about their body to get a bathing suit on and enjoy the pool, beach or waterslides with their kids, missing out on a ton of memories. This year, why not get the right suit for your body and get splashing in there! You won’t regret it, I promise. Sears even has made it easier for you as they have 60% off select swimwear for men and women today only. On top of that, they’ve got these fantastic coupon codes you can use to get an extra $20 or $50 off your order too.

While I’ve never really been one to be shy to wear a bathing suit, I’m feeling lately like I like a one-piece look better for my body. I don’t think bikinis are great for the family swim at the YMCA and I am more cautious about burning my pale white belly at the beach. I took a look at what Sears has on offer and I am liking it!

If you are a size 18 – 22, this Tradition 1-piece crossover swimsuit is flattering in all the right ways. Regularly $79.99, it is on sale for only $31.99!

I love the look of a skirt on a bathing suit and a swimdress is also very flattering and doesn’t show off the skin you showed when you were 19 at Wasaga Beach. This Alia women’s swimdress is a serious steal with a regular price of $104.99 and now on sale for $41.99.

If you are like me, you need to mix and match when you buy a 2-piece. My top is not the same size as my bottom, so I like it when it is not a one size fits all swimsuit. This seriously cute Jantzen women’s sweetheart halter bra was $74.99 and now on sale for $29.99. The bottoms were $69.99 and now $27.99. I love the high waisted bottoms and the polka dot look for a retro style.

If you bought all three suits, your regular price would be about $330. After you’ve added coupon code 941612440, you’ll see $20 discounted, making your grand total only $111! If you want to spend $200, there is a coupon for that too, that will get you $50 off!

Shipping is free on $49, so if you are using the coupons you are all good!

Sears Canada Promo Code: Izod Polo Tops Were $36 | Now $18 Plus $10 Off $50

Posted by on June 12, 2015 at 1:10 PM

Sears Canada Promo Code: Izod Polo Tops Were $36 | Now $18 Plus $10 Off $50

Sears has some pretty hot stackable deals on this weekend that you really don’t want to miss out on. First, they’ve got Izod men’s polo tops (great for Dad’s day!) on from $34, now down to $18. Then, they have some great coupon codes that will get you a discount on your purchase including $10 off $50 and $25 off $100.

Click here to shop @ Sears.ca now

  • Coupon Code: 941612211
  • Discount: $10 off $50
  • Coupon Code: 941612347
  • Discount: $25 off $100
  • Expiry: 14th June 2015

I find Sears coupon codes very interesting as they don’t straight out show you a $10 deduction in your cart. Instead, they deduct the amount – either $10 or $25 in these cases – from your items, divided equally between the items. So, while these IZOD tops are on sale for $18 each, if you put three in your cart and add the $10 off $50 coupon, you’ll see the price of the top fall to $14.67 each. The same thing will happen when you add more tops and add the $25 off coupon, but with a different end price. Unfortunately, you can’t stack the two together.

These tops are available in a bunch of different colours and sizes. They are great for work or casual use. Every man can use a go-to top for everyday wear and these are perfect for that.

Checking around other stores that sell Izod brand polo tops, I found that Hudson’s Bay has them on clearance for $25. Sears price is beating that by $10 per top, plus their shipping is lower than Hudson Bay (free ship on $49 as opposed to $99).

With these coupon codes, you don’t just have to shop for Izod tops. You can buy pretty much anything, although the coupon does say selected items. You could check out the Love Your Dad sale, where items up are up to 40% off. You could also check out the 2-day sale with many items on sale today and tomorrow.

I found a fantastic deal in the outlet on this Dickies men’s quilted workwear jacket. Regularly $44.99, it is on sale for $25.94. I added two of the jackets to my cart with the $10 off coupon and the jackets came down further to $20.94 each!

Sears Canada: Free Shipping to Over 1,300 Pick Up Locations

Posted by on June 5, 2015 at 3:11 PM

Sears Canada: Free Shipping to Over 1,300 Pick Up Locations

Sears Canada is now offering free shipping with no minimum on orders shipped to a Sears pick-up location! This is a new offer from Sears as they previously charged a $3.95 handling fee for this service.

You can have your order shipped to your local Sears store or to any number of Sears pickup locations across Canada. There are over 1,300 Sears pick up locations across Canada ensuring a location near you. In fact, I used to live in a small village of fewer than 500 people, and we could pick up Sears packages at the local florist shop. When I lived in Edmonton, my local Sears pick up store was not an actual Sears but rather a dry cleaners.

This is welcome news from the Canadian retail giant, and I am certainly tickled pink! I do not mind picking up my packages as long as I am scoring a good deal on the initial product.

Currently you can shop Sears Days to score some great deals on clothing, handbags, toys, accessories, and more. I am still not quite over my Monster High obsession, thus this two-pack of Monster High Zombie Shake ‘Rochelle Goyle’ And ‘Venus Mcflytrap’ Dolls on sale from $39.99 down to $33.99 has caught my eye. Toys R Us charges $44.99 for the same doll set and even Amazon has the set for $36.70.

This Step 2 2-In-1 Toy Box With Art Board Lid is on sale from $79.99 down to $55.99. The box is great for storing your children’s toys and the art board gives them a place to draw and colour. It can be wiped clean or it can be displayed on the top of the box. The same box is on sale at Best Buy Canada, but you will pay $59.99 there (only one in stock).

Additionally, this ‘Deluxe Sandbox’ With Kinetic Sand, rake, and moulds would not have been worth purchasing before because of the handling fee when you are shipping to store. However, you can now pick up this fun little sandbox that is on sale from $24.99 down to $14.99 with free to store shipping. Mould your own landscapes, create your own creatures, and have a lot of fun with this inexpensive toy.

I also found this Transformers ‘Beast Hunter Optimus Prime’ Action Figure on sale from $69.99 down to $48.99. While I could not find this action figure other places, ones from the same series retailed for more.

Stork Craft Solid Wood Cushioned Toy Box Was $140 | Now $80 + Free Shipping @ Sears.ca

Posted by on May 30, 2015 at 3:00 PM

Stork Craft Solid Wood Cushioned Toy Box Was $140 | Now $80 + Free Shipping @ Sears.ca

I cannot tell you how long I have been on the prowl for an appealing toy box for the living area. My son has toys everywhere, and I would love to be able to clean them up into a nice looking storage bin when company is coming over. Now is my chance, and yours too. Sears Canada has the Stork Craft Solid Wood Cushioned Toy Box on sale from $140 down to just $80, and as Eva mentioned in a blog post earlier, Sears.ca is offering free shipping on orders over $49.

I have yet to find a more attractive looking toy box. This Stork Craft Solid Wood Cushioned Toy Box serves as toy storage as well as a bench. This toy box is appealing enough that it could be placed in your main living area, not just the play room. In fact, you could even use this as hat, coat and shoe storage in your entrance if you wanted. This gorgeous wooden storage box was originally priced at $140, but is now on sale for only $80 during the Sears Days Sale. While this item would normally be available in two colours (wood or white), only the plain wood option is available at this time. Now your guests won’t feel like Godzilla when they are walking through your living room. They won’t be walking on all of the toys!

While some assembly is required, this adorable wooden toy box should not be difficult to put together. Stork Craft is pretty good at providing detailed instructions as well as all of the pieces and small tools that are required for assembly. Once you have your box built. it can store anything you like. The lid serves as a bench that can seat two children. There are no hinges on the lid. If you want it off, take it completely off. This does prevent the pinching of any little fingers, but it can also be a tad difficult for your child to take on and off themselves.

If you have a tricky space to fit, the dimensions are: 27 8/4 inches wide, 16 1/4 inches deep, and 18 1/4 inches high. The finish is non-toxic so it is safe for those children who tend to lick furniture. Plus, as Eva mentioned earlier – Sears.ca has lowered their free shipping minimum spend! Before you had to spend $99 to get free shipping, but now you can spend just $49 to get shipping included. That means that this adorable Stork Craft Toy Box will get free shipping too.

Moosers, what are you going to store in your new Stork Craft Solid Wood Cushioned Toy Box?

Sears Canada: Free Shipping on $49+

Sears Canada: Free Shipping on $49+

Great news! While everyone was upset when Walmart did away with their free shipping, no minimum and pushed their shipping up to a minimum of a $50 order, you’ll now be happy to learn that Sears has done the opposite and reduced their free shipping threshold from $99, down to $49! I wasn’t sure if this was just a promotion, or if it will be a permanent thing, but if you go to their site, you’ll see that it says Free Shipping Every Day on orders of $49 or more. Hopefully it stays like that! On top of this, this weekend they are having their coveted Sears day promotion and there are many items up to 50% off.

There are so many items I could mention, but I’m just going to tell you about a few that stood out to me. This Nike popover swoosh hoody was $49.99 and is now $29.99. I searched the net for other Nike pullover hoodies and found they sell for $45+. If you get two, your shipping will be free automatically.

How cute is this Newberry girls 3-piece christening set? Save it for when she is ready or give it as a gift. Regularly $69.99, now $45.49. Add $5 more to your cart to see your free shipping appear.

If you buy your cosmetics from Sears, you are in luck, as they have a buy more, save more promotion on right now where you’ll get an extra 10% off when you buy two items and 20% off when you buy three. I got three of these Estee Lauder pure colour nail lacquers, which are regularly $25 each and my total came to $60 and I got free shipping as well.

I’ve got something freaky about a brown boot. I just love them! I checked out the outlet and found these Nevada women’s provan tall boot, which are gorgeous. Regularly $99.99, they are on sale for $69.94. Normally, that would have almost been a downer because you would have had to search for something else to add to the cart or pay the high $7.95 shipping charge. Now, with Sears new shipping policy, you pay nothing extra!

Canadian Freebie: Portrait Package Valued At $115 @ Sears Canada

Posted by on May 21, 2015 at 9:48 AM

Canadian Freebie: Portrait Package Valued At $115 @ Sears Canada

It might be time to update a few photos on your wall. Sears Portrait is offering a completely free portrait package including session fee valued at $114.91. Print the freebie coupon or schedule your appointment to claim this freebie.

This is a sweet little deal for anyone who needs an updated photo. Maybe you need a new LinkedIn profile picture that looks more professional, or you are trying to have a few professional portraits of your kids as they grow. Either way, free is the way to go in my book!

Once you click on the link, you are directed to a webpage that allows you to book your portrait sessions right away or print a coupon for later use. If you book your session right away, the deal should be in the system. I would probably print a copy of the coupon also to make sure there are no questions about this deal when I arrive at the studio. There is no expiry listed on this coupon, the coupon simply states “Hurry, this deal ends soon.”

Included in this freebie deal is the following:

  • Free session fee
  • One 11X14 wall portrait print
  • One 8×10 print
  • Two 5×7 prints
  • Four 3 1/2 by 5 prints

It states on the coupon that all of these prints must be of the same pose. That is how they sometimes can get you to purchase as they will take multiple shots and force you to only take home one pose with the freebie. This offer is also valid for only a single subject, so you will not be able to put multiple family members in the shot according to the rules. The freebie also states that appointments must be scheduled on a Monday through Thursday.

There is also an option at the bottom of the page to share the deal with three friends. Once you forward the deal, you will receive a coupon in your e-mail box for a free 8×10. While the original deal states you cannot combine the freebie with other promotions, in the e-mailed coupon you receive for the extra 8X10 it states that it can be combined with the freebie. I received my e-mailed freebie within 20 minutes of signing up.

Go print your freebie now Bargainmoosers, and put a few free prints on your wall. I could use some free pro photos of my kid. I generally only buy pro portraits right before Christmas, so it will be nice to see the changes in how she has grown in the last six months.

Sears Canada: Columbia Mens Element Blocker 3 in 1 Jacket Was $170 | Now As Low As $70 (FS @ $99)

I actually just stumbled upon this awesome deal from Sears this morning. Get the Columbia men’s Element Blocker 3-in-1 jacket for only $87.94, with a regular price of $169.99. Because you don’t really get free shipping until you spend $99, you should definitely add another $15 or so in merchandise, because at that point, you’ll also get an additional 20% off your $100 order with coupon code 941612175, making your jacket an even sweeter deal!

This is an incredibly versatile and warm jacket for our Canadian winters. While the sun is indeed shining today, you’ll be happy next January that you scored such a good deal on a nice coat. But, you don’t have to wait until January to use it – because it is a 3-in-1, you can actually even use it now as well, as it works for all seasons.

What you get in this 3-in-1 is a nylon outer jacket that protects from the wetness, which can be worn on top of the other two pieces, or on its own on rainy spring days. Then, there is a polyester lining, which is insulating during the cold days. Last, there is a polyester inner jacket with a nylon lining. Wearing all three will give the maximum for warmth. The inner jacket has its own zipper front and zip pockets. The outer jacket has a storm flap and outside zip pockets.

It looks like all sizes are available in black, boulder and red.

There are two reviews, and both give it an outstanding rating:

I bought this jacket recently. First of all, this is just as warm as my previous jacket, but lighter and less bulky. Apart from the generally good design, here are specific reasons why I particularly like this jacket.

That reviewer also liked the chest pocket for his phone, and also mentioned that there are also waist cinches, which are great to keep you extra warm and covered.

I couldn’t find this exact jacket at other Canadian stores, but other Columbia 3-in-1 jackets sell for a minimum of $115 on sale at Columbia Sportswear. I did find it on Amazon.com, where it sells for $170. This is a fantastic deal from Sears on a Columbia jacket.

As I said above, I added another item to my cart – the Boulevard club reversible bold stripe scarf, that is $13.94 and was $24.99 and my cart with the jacket and the scarf and promo code added came down to $84.30.  The jacket came down to $70.36. The only problem I now have is that my shipping won’t be free, so I need to add something else! I don’t mind Sears Canada: Columbia Mens Element Blocker 3 in 1 Jacket Was $170 | Now As Low As $70 (FS @ $99)
