Mark’s Canada: BOGO 50% Off Jeans & Get 1,000 Scene Points

Marks Canada: BOGO 50% Off Jeans & Get 1,000 Scene Points

Mark’s Canada has a sweet deal going on if you need some new jeans. Get one pair of jeans and then get the second pair for half off. On top of this, when you buy two pairs of jeans, you’ll get 1,000 Scene points, which is enough for free movie. Get yourself a pair, get your significant other a pair, then wear them on your date to the movies, which you’ll essentially get one person free.

Both hubby and I need new jeans. I have one favourite pair that I wear pretty much anytime I want to wear jeans and he has a number of pairs that are tattered and worn, with paint stains, and not in the good, cool and fashionable way. I also want to go see a movie with him sometime soon. We’ve been trying for weeks to see the new Cameron Diaz movie, Sex Tape, as I’ve heard it is hilarious, but it hasn’t worked out. Maybe if we had a free movie pass plus some hot new clothes to wear, we would make more of an effort to make it work.

I’m a sucker for dark wash and this driven dark contrast jeans seriously look hot. I’m not huge on all the strategic rippings and these look like they can be worn everywhere, even to a fancy restaurant for dinner. We’ll have to add that on to our date night. These are $89.

These women’s mid-rise boot jeans give the same effect as the men’s. They can be worn anywhere and look hot. They are also $89.

By buying both jeans, I’d pay a total of $133.50, saving $44.50, plus get the Scene points. Your Scene points will come as a code at the end of your purchase, that you can redeem online for tickets.

Mark’s charges $6.50 for shipping, no matter what you buy.

SCENE Rewards Freebie: 250 Free Points With Purchase Of Select Books From Chapters Indigo

SCENE Rewards Freebie: 250 Free Points With Purchase Of Select Books From Chapters Indigo

Are you a book and movie lover? Then use both of these hobbies to your advantage by getting an awesome freebie from Scene Rewards! With purchase of a select title from Chapters Indigo, you can earn yourself 250 free Scene points!

I absolutely love Scene Rewards. Although I haven’t had the chance to go in a while, I used to go to the movies every Tuesday to take advantage of the cheapie Tuesday deal (50% off the ticket) and to get 120 scene points (100 for viewing the movie and 20 for buying the ticket online). The best part about all this is that within a short time frame, I would have enough points (1,000) for a free movie, which I would make sure to redeem on a week-end and for one in either IMAX, UltraAVX or 3D.

The current featured list of books is inspired by a “read the book; see the movie” kind of theme and is ongoing until the end of the month of April. With 30 books to choose from in total, here are just some of the books that stood out to me:

Keep in mind that all the prices listed above are those that Chapters automatically offers to Plum Rewards members, a free program that awards points and lower prices on all books.

Once the book has been purchased, you will then receive an e-mail with a special PIN code to enter at Scene’s Indigo page. Plus, you can get as many books as you want for even more points! Just don’t forget that it takes 1,000 points for a free movie, although you can also use them on a variety of other rewards as well, such as free snacks, DVDs, Blu-Rays etc.

As usual, shipping is also free on all orders over $25.

Scotiabank Scene Visa Card: 4,000 Bonus SCENE Points = 4 Free Movies

Posted by on June 3, 2013 at 4:00 PM

Scotiabank Scene Visa Card: 4,000 Bonus SCENE Points = 4 Free Movies

Scotiabank has a special deal on their SCENE Visa card. When you sign up for the credit card before the 31st of October, 2013 you will get a bonus 4,000 SCENE points which is equivalent to four free movies!

The SCENE Visa card is a pretty good credit card if you like to treat yourself to movies every once in a while. It is a no-fee card with a 19.99% interest rate. I suggest you pay your card off each month so you never have to pay that. Why credit cards are useful is that you can earn points and if you are faithful on paying off your credit card, they can benefit you instead of cost you. The SCENE credit card allows you to:

  • Earn one SCENE point for every dollar you spend
  • Earn five SCENE points for every dollar you spend at participating Cineplex Entertainment theatres or online at cineplex.com

You also get a 20% AVIS rental discount with your VISA card.

With every 1,000 SCENE points you can redeem them for a free movie. So this promotion from Scotiabank for 4,000 bonus points with your first purchase gives you four free movies. Since Cineplex charges around $12.99 a ticket depending on where you live, this offer is worth over $50. If you want a 3D movie I think you have to pay a surcharge though. I have been debating on getting this card for as while though I am not sure if I would use it enough as I only see a couple movies a year. The last movie I saw was The Hobbit. I am really looking forward to seeing the new Star Trek movie though.

What was the last movie you saw in theatre?

If you do not have a SCENE card yet, I highly suggest signing up for one! It is a handy card to get free movies every once in a while. Since you get 100 points for every movie you see – every ten movies you earn yourself a free movie. Not a bad deal overall.

Cineplex Movies: $5 Classic Films

Cineplex Movies: $5 Classic Films

Cineplex Movies has a great ongoing deal on right now.  From now until the end of the year, they are offering classic films for just $5 a person.

There will be 5 different movies playing on specific Wednesdays and Sundays until the end of the year to choose from.  All movies are presented in a digital format (HD or 2K Digital) and this is the 3rd year they are running this promotion. This offer will be in select movie theaters in the cities of Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.

Here are the movies you can look forward to seeing:

  • Sunset Boulevard- September 16th and 19th
  • Dracula/Frankenstein Double Feature- October 21st, 24th, and 31st
  • Lawrence of Arabia- November 11th and 14th
  • Miracle on 34th Street (1947),-December 9th and 12th

I love Christmas time and can’t wait to go see Miracle on 34th Street in December.  I own this movie (along with just about every Christmas movie) but there is something special about seeing a movie on the big screen!

In previous years, you would get Scene Members get just 50 points per movie for this offer.  This year, Scene Members will get a whopping 100 points per movie ticket bought!

Cineplex Store Canada: 2x Scene Points & 2 Free Movies with $50 Purchase

Posted by on June 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM

Cineplex Store Canada: 2x Scene Points & 2 Free Movies with $50 Purchase

For a limited time only, spend $50 or more on any combination of Blu-ray, DVD or digital download and get 2x the Scene points and 2 movie tickets.  You will also get free shipping with your order.

Here is the fine print for this deal:

Each Admit-One Voucher may be exchanged for one (1) general admission ticket to a movie at any Cineplex Entertainment theater (subject to the terms and conditions on the Voucher itself). Only two (2) Admit-One Vouchers will be issued per order regardless of the number of Admit-One Vouchers displayed at time of check-out or in the purchase order. Your Admit-One Voucher(s) will be mailed with your purchase. 2X SCENE points, free shipping and 2 free Cineplex Admit-One vouchers offer valid from June 1 to June 17, 2012. No substitutions or rain checks. Offer not valid on the purchase of gift cards. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer, discount or promotion, and is subject to change or termination without notice.

The approximate value of the free movie tickets is $26 and the 2x the Scene points adds up fast to more free movies.  I have had a Scene card for about 2 years now and have already earned 4 free movies (that is using it very minimally).

To get this deal you must make your purchase before 17th June.  They have many movies to choose from including new and old movies.  You can also pre-order new movies that are not yet available.  They also offer a Deal of the Day everyday with movies as low as $0.99.

Cineplex: Save Additional 10% with Scene Cards Every Tuesday

Starting June 5th 2012 you can save an additional 10% on your movies every Tuesday just by using your Scene card.  You will already get a reduced rate for movies on Tuesdays so this is in addition to that.

When you show you Scene card on Tuesdays starting June 5th, you will save an additional 10% off your ticket price.  This includes IMAX and Ultra AVX titles.  A Scene membership card is absolutely free and will earn you rewards towards free movies.

SCENE membership card includes:

  • Earn 100 SCENE points with every movie
  • Get 10% off movie snacks
  • Get a free movie with just 1,000 points
  • You get 250 points just for signing up

I have had one for a couple of years now and we don’t go to the movies very often.  In about 2 years, we have earned 4 free movies going to the theater about 3 times a year.  You earn points through movie and concession purchases.  It is one of those cards that are worth signing up for because it is free and you will earn points.

SCENE Card: Have you seen it?

Posted by on October 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM

SCENE Card: Have you seen it?

I know, corny eh? So we figured it was about time for those of you not familiar with the SCENE card to be introduced.

SCENE card – people.

People – SCENE card.

lol. SCENE Card: Have you seen it?

Ok, so on a more serious note: for those of you who don’t know what a SCENE card is: it is a card you use when you go to the movies at Cineplex theatres. You give them your card, they scan it, you get points. For most movies you get 100 points a movie. When you get 1000 points (you have seen 10 movies) you get 1 free admission. So pretty worth getting.

It isn’t just getting free admission – you could get a free combo at the concession instead. Which reminds me, with your SCENE card you get 10% off at the concession. Also, you can now use your SCENE points towards buying movies online at Cineplex. Some restaurants (I hear Milestones) have evidently partnered up with SCENE and you can also get a Scotiabank SCENE master card to help earn those points faster.

Personally, I keep it simple. My points never expire so every year and 1/2 or so I earn myself a free movie. Which is sweet. Sure it can take some time to add up but it is very satisfying to have earned that free ticket. So that is why I think this is one of those free reward programs that is actually worth signing up for.

Over and out!
