Microsoft Store Canada: Up to $300 Off Windows 8 Computers

Posted by on June 4, 2013 at 9:00 PM

Microsoft Store Canada: Up to $300 Off Windows 8 Computers

HP. Asus, Lenovo, Samsung. Whatever you want, Microsoft has it and they have it for less!

There are some awesome computers at awesome prices here. There aren’t really any that I wouldn’t recommend so pick the one that you feel fits you the best!

The elephant in the room with this deal is the Windows 8 part so I’m going to address that up front. These are great computers and Windows 8 should not turn you off from buying them. I’ll explain why. There are a few things that people don’t like about Windows 8 but let’s tackle the big one: the start menu/button.

Instead of the start menu we now have the start screen which contains all of your programs. So the main difference is that before you had a menu that popped up and now it’s a whole screen. This is quite literally the stupidest complaint about Windows 8. I can’t even think of an argument that makes sense for why this is bad. Instead of opening a menu in the corner and launching programs, you open a new screen. That’s it. You can leave the screen with the click of a mouse or the push of a button just like you did with the old menu. It is functionally unchanged except you can’t see what’s on you’re screen while you’re looking in the start menu. I would submit to you that it is a very limited case for having to have your start menu open at the same time you are reading a website or watching a video. If you’ve opened your start menu, your focus will be there until you are done with it.

As far as the start button, you can just push the start key on your keyboard and, because you whined so much, Microsoft is releasing an update to put the start button back. If you are really so enraged about the change, you can get a program Classic Shell to return your previous menu. People even complain that Windows 8 books in to the start screen. Waitaminute, you’re saying that the operating system immediately brings me to the place where I can launch programs?! That’s horrible! Or maybe it’s an awesome design choice so that you can choose which program to launch immediately on boot instead of having to open a menu and claw through stuff.

This is a deals site, not a tech blog, so I didn’t go into detail or hit all the points I would have had I been writing a tech article but I just wanted to show you that Windows 8 isn’t some terrible demon. I’m not even a Windows guy. I traditionally use Linux and I’m fine with Windows 8. So if you’re looking for a new laptop don’t let Windows 8 scare you away from these awesome deals. Also, they all ship for FREE!

What do you think about Windows 8? Let me know in the comments below!

NCIX Canada: Free Samsung Tablet ($200 Value) With Camera or Sound Dock Purchase

NCIX Canada: Free Samsung Tablet ($200 Value) With Camera or Sound Dock Purchase

Need a camera? How about a sound dock? Well how about getting a great one from Samsung and NCIX and grab a FREE tablet while you’re at it? Can’t think of a reason not to, can ya?

This is a very odd sale and I can’t really figure out why it exists. They have taken two specific Samsung products and said if you buy them, you get a FREE 8GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 WiFi 7 Inch Android Tablet, which is valued at $199.99. The only thing I can think of is that they got a double shipment of the camera and sound dock and just need to move them quick. Or maybe Samsung is pushing them to sell these specific items. Whatever the reason, it’s a great deal. Even the camera itself is discounted!

Shipping is free! The sale on the camera expires on June 6th, 2013, and the free tablet offer is available while supplies last.

Why do you think NCIX is having this deal? Has a mandrill kidnapped their president and threatened to turn him into a living marionette if they don’t sell these? Let me know in the comments below!

Black’s Canada: 25% Off Samsung, iPad or iPhone Cases With Coupon Code

Blacks Canada: 25% Off Samsung, iPad or iPhone Cases With Coupon Code

Statistics show that if you own a smartphone or tablet, it’s more likely to be a Samsung or iPhone than anything else. Get a case for your super popular phone at Black’s Canada!

Click here to get your new phone case @ Blacks.ca

    • Coupon Code: GIFTS4DAD25
    • Discount: 25% Off Samsung, iPhone and iPad Cases
    • Expiry: 16th June 2013

Samsung and Apple are the kings of mobile devices. They make the best, they sell the most. There is a problem with both of these phones though: they’re fragile. They’re fragile in different ways though. Samsung phones are fragile like knee pads are fragile. If you fall, the knee pads are going to get scratched up. They still work and if you don’t like that they are scratched, you buy a new one. If your Samsung phone gets scratched, it’s probably going to be on the removable plastic back. You can buy a new one and toss the old one. The iPhone is like a diamond. It’s pretty but if you damage it you need to buy a new diamond. You can’t just replace a part for a few bucks. Same thing for iPads but to a lesser extent.

But regardless of which phone you have, you should protect it. Black’s has tons of great cases and they are all 25% off with the coupon code above! For more deals from Black’s check out our Black’s Coupon Codes!

Shipping varies, depending on your location.

Do you have kneepads or a diamond? Is that the weirdest way to represent phones? Find out next week! … or in the comments. Yeah, leave a comment below!

Shop.ca: Free Samsung Galaxy Tablet With Samsung NX1000 Camera Purchase for $599.99

Shop.ca has a pretty impressive offer on the Samsung NX1000 Camera. It is not on sale, but when you buy the camera for $599.99 you will get a free Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Yup – you heard right – a free tablet!! That is pretty darn awesome.

You have your choices of three colours as shown above. You get a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (Gun Metal) – 7 Inch Tablet. This freebie is worth $200 – $250 depending on the website you are looking at… so an amazing deal! I checked it out on Amazon.ca and it was priced at $242 on there.

The camera itself is wonderful as well – with some fabulous features including:

    • 20.3 megapixels
    • 1/4000 fast shutter
    • Built-in WiFi

I price compared with Henry’s and the camera was the same price there – without the free tablet.

Shipping is free, and shop.ca offers free returns for up to 365 days after purchase.
