Register for Rogers Suretap & Receive $100 Prepaid Digital Mastercard

Register for Rogers Suretap & Receive $100 Prepaid Digital Mastercard

Rogers customers, there is a special promotion available to you right now. Download the Suretap Wallet and add a payment card (like the Rogers Prepaid MasterCard) to receive $100 credit in the form of a virtual Rogers Prepaid MasterCard on your phone.

There are four steps to receive your $100 PrePaid MasterCard for free. First, you must ensure that you have a Suretap compatible list. The link above will provide you will a full list of the devices. Samsung, HTC, Blackberry, Sony, and and LG are among some of the eligible brands.

Second, you will need a Suretap LTE SIM card. You may already have one, or you may need to get a new one. It looks like the Suretap SIM costs $10 online, but Rogers appears to be offering them for free if you call 1-855-640-7914.

Thirdly, you will need the Suretap application, which can be downloaded through the Google Play store or Blackberry App World. Oddly enough, I could not find the wallet when I just searched for Suretap by myself on the Goggle store. However, here is the direct link to the Suretap Wallet App.

The last step appears to be the one most people have difficulties with. You need to register a payment card to your Suretap wallet – in this case the Rogers Prepaid MasterCard – so that the $100 credit will be applied. The bonus credit is only for the first card you add. After adding/registering your card – you will receive a $100 credit. However, many people have had difficulty with the application crashing around this stage. My suggestion is to re-download the app if you are having difficulties, or to speak with customer service at Rogers.

There are a few other things you need to know. The promotional balance will not expire but you want to use it up quickly as there is a monthly maintenance fee of $2.50 as long as the $100 card is active. The card is only usable at places that accept MasterCard PayPass.

For those unfamiliar with Suretap, it is an app using NFC technology that allows you to pay with your phone instead of having to carry around your credit cards. Suretap Wallet features multiple pass-code levels for security and high quality encryption. It uses similar tap and pay technology as the MasterCard PayPass or VISA payWave and should work at any contactless points of sale.

This promotion is still on for a few weeks but Rogers reserves the right to cancel the promotion at any time.

Rogers Wireless Canada: Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch | Was $220 Now $100

Rogers Wireless Canada: Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch | Was $220 Now $100

Good morning, my fellow Bargainmoosers! Rogers Wireless is currently having a great deal on their Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch, and you don’t have to commit to anything to purchase this sweet device – you can buy it outright, whether you’re a Rogers customer or just an innocent online shopper with no obligations with Rogers. This Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch normally sells for $219.99, but you can now purchase this watch for only $99.99! You’ll also qualify for free shipping – now that’s a nice bonus!

If you have a Samsung cellphone, then this Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch would compliment it perfectly. It has a myriad of great features – you can watch videos, make phone calls (if you already have a Samsung cellphone linked to this smartwatch), and so much more! You can learn more about this awesome gadget by clicking on the link above, and scrolling down to the Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch.

On a side note, it’s getting colder out there! I had to temporarily retire my winter jacket for an even heavier winter jacket! It’s just how it is here in Canada, and I’ll happily deal with the cold weather – after all, you’re never too old to make snow angels! As a matter of fact, I plan to kick it old school (well, old school for me) and make a snow fort during this winter season! However, if I end up purchasing this Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch, I’ll probably keep it indoors to prevent it from getting covered in snow!

If you wanted to purchase a similar Samsung Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch from Amazon, it would cost you $247.16. Listed below is a brief review of this smartwatch from a satisfied Amazon customer:

I wear it every time I go outside. I found the pedometer very useful as I see that I actually stared to walk a little more and lost 5 pounds. I love it. I would recommend it to anyone with a compatible Android.

Happy hunting, Moosers!

Rogers Canada Freebie: Get The Maclean’s Mini Book Of Lists eBook For Free

Rogers Canada Freebie: Get The Macleans Mini Book Of Lists eBook For Free

In celebration of Canada Day, Rogers Canada is offering a free download of The Maclean’s Mini Book of Lists with 52 pages of fun facts about people, places and things in Canada.

With 52 pages of fun Canadian facts, here are just some of the headlines that stood out to me but there are plenty more to keep you entertained:

  • 7 Canadians who’ve had a big influence on America
  • The 10 most “Canucky” cities
  • 9 rude place names in Newfoundaland
  • 6 sexy lawsuits
  • The most common baby names in Canada
  • 5 myths about Tim Hortons
  • 10 popular chocolate bars sold in Canada that are next to impossible to find South of the border
  • 8 uncommon terms commonly heard in Manitoba
  • Canadian words, phrases or slang that most Americans wouldn’t understand
  • Unusual items 8 Canadian astronauts carried into space

My favourite has to be from the “Canadian words, phrases or slang that most Americans wouldn’t understand” list as “toboggan” is highlighted in yellow. It’s a word that I have heard so many times in my lifetime that I can’t believe it’s not as prevalent anywhere else as it is here in Canada.

It also surprised me to see that Best Buy is among the 5 American retail brands that had more success in Canada than in the U.S. along with A&W and Sears!

The “Top 10 Crying Hockey Players” is bound to be a favourite for many, especially since even Wayne Gretzky has made it onto the list!

With barbecue season in full swing, I could see these being as great conversation starters at the next family get together or while having drinks with friends. It can be a struggle to initiate conversation with some people but these could definitely be good ice breakers! Rogers Canada Freebie: Get The Macleans Mini Book Of Lists eBook For Free

I’m actually tempted to print all of the pages of this mini book, staple them together and place in the bathroom as reading material! Rogers Canada Freebie: Get The Macleans Mini Book Of Lists eBook For Free

Rogers Canada: Save $5 On Your Bill With Rogers Alerts

Posted by on April 26, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Rogers Canada: Save $5 On Your Bill With Rogers Alerts

When you sign up for Rogers Alerts you will receive a one-time credit of $5 on your wireless bill.

First off, let us cover the fine print. This service is only available to Rogers Wireless Postpaid customers. You will receive a one-time $5 credit on one of your next two Rogers Wireless bills, as long as your Rogers Alerts account remains active for at least 30 days. After 30 days you can cancel it and keep your $5.

Now, Rogers Alerts is a funky little program. They will send you text messages with deals for stores you are passing by. Walking by a Starbucks? Maybe they have a $2 latte deal on before 2pm which you don’t know about. This could be an awesome little thing to help you get better deals. Rogers Alerts will only send you up to five text messages a week, and you can choose the categories that most interest you so that you won’t get offers on oil changes when you would prefer shoes.

I am not a Rogers’ customer, but if I was I would be signing up for this. It is certainly worth trying out for 30 days just to get your essentially free $5.

Rogers: Reserve a Samsung Galaxy S5 and get a $50 Pre-Paid Mastercard (Only 10,000 Available)

Rogers: Reserve a Samsung Galaxy S5 and get a $50 Pre Paid Mastercard (Only 10,000 Available)

Reserve Samsung’s newest flagship phone at Rogers and get a $50 prepaid Mastercard!

This is a limited quantity offer so I don’t know how many are left or how long it will last. If you want to get in on this deal, do it right now.

If you are one of the first 10,000 people to reserve the new Samsung Galaxy S5 on a two year plan from Rogers, you will get a $50 pre-paid Mastercard which is good, because these phones are getting expensive. The pre-paid card won’t be a physical card, it will be on this totally awesome new technology called SureTap, which is going to be a place to pay for things using your smartphone! I had the OG Galaxy S and I currently have a Galaxy Note II both of which were going for $200 on a two year plan. I think I got a deal on the Note II but still, it was retailing at $200. And I thought $200 was expensive. Now they are bumping it up to $249.99. Why, back in my day I could go to the phone store with a nickel, buy three smart phones and still have enough left to make a mortgage payment.

But that’s just the way things go nowadays so you might as well take advantage of the deal and get a great phone while you’re at it. The Samsung phones really are great hardware. If you have a Galaxy S4 or a higher end phone from that generation, you probably don’t need to upgrade as the jump isn’t that great but if you have something around a Galaxy S3 or a lower end phone, this is a great one to get.

(Expires: 10 April 2014 or after 10,000 have been reserved)

Rogers Canada: Activate a 3 Year Plan and Get a Free Kindle

If you are looking for a new phone plan, right now at Rogers, you will get free Kindle (a $199 value) when you sign up for a select FlexTab three-year service plan.

My two-year old phone has decided to keep turning itself off and the most inopportune times. I need a new phone! I could totally use a Kindle, since I don’t have an e-reader and Rogers is where we have quite a few services already, so I will probably also get a discount on my service plan.

With quite a few phones to choose from, you can go from getting a $0 LG Optimus G 2600 when you sign up (plus the free Kindle) to $379 for an iPhone 5 64GB with a plan (and free Kindle).

Talk, text and internet plans start at $55 a month. You can order your phone online and you’ll get free shipping! You also have the option of ordering in-store or on the phone. After you activate your phone, you’ll enter your info to get your free Kindle Paperwhite 3G e-reader.

Canadian Black Friday Cell Phone Sale Roundup

Posted by on November 23, 2012 at 12:30 PM

Canadian Black Friday Cell Phone Sale Roundup

All three carriers have some good deals but there is a definite winner and a definite loser on these deals. Who will it be? Could the winner be Bell?! Could the loser be Rogers!? … Actually, that’s right. Bell is the winner and Rogers is the loser. Sorry Rogers people…

Ok, I know, stop your angry emails and listen. I can’t include every carrier so I’m including the big three. If I put WING in there someone is going to get mad because I didn’t include SaskTel or Moblicity. I’m sorry but I just don’t need this kind of hassle in my life. I love you all, but not that much. These are the deals in order of awesome. Again, I’m sorry Rogers.

BELL

  • Samsung Galaxy S III – Now $0
  • Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE – Now $29.95
  • Samsung Galaxy Note – Now $0
  • Motorola RAZR V – Now $0

TELUS

  • Samsung Galaxy S III – Now $0

ROGERS

  • Samsung Galazy S III – Now $79.99

The Clear winner in this deal is the free SGS IIIs. All the other phones that Bell has up are great, although I can’t see why anyone would pay $30 for an SGS II when you can get an SGS III for free. I don’t have the exact before prices (or rather I do, but they are on my computer at work) but the SGS III was around $170 and the other phones were $50 or $60.

All of these are available online or in-store on new 3-year contracts or renewals.

FREE Xbox 360 with Kinect When You Activate Two Smartphones at Rogers

FREE Xbox 360 with Kinect When You Activate Two Smartphones at Rogers

This deal comes around different retailers (often BestBuy) every once in a while in one form or another, and always catches my eye. This particular deal is a free Xbox 360 with Kinect from Rogers if you activate two smart phones on select three year contracts. If you only activate one phone on a three year contract, you can get the xBox 360 with Kinect for $149.99.

The phones that seem to be offered are:

  • Nokia Lumia 900
  • HTC One X
  • Samsung Galaxy S II LTE
  • HTC Raider

I feel like I’ve said this before but even I, as a Playstation guy, would spring for this deal if the timing was right. The Xbox for free on its own is a good deal but adding Kinect in there seals it for me.

It should be noted that the advertisement says “Select” voice and data plans. They say it is with any couple or family plan but select could mean anything so watch out. You can check out the deal on the Rogers website or go to the store.

32GB iPhone 3GS For $63.42 With 1 Year Rogers Plan

Posted by on February 26, 2012 at 3:00 PM

32GB iPhone 3GS For $63.42 With 1 Year Rogers Plan

Here’s a deal for a white iPhone 3GS 32GB from Rogers red hot deals. You can get the handset for only $63.42, on select 1 year plans.

Now, this deal might not be for everyone, but read on and I will explain the ups and downs.

You have to take out a 1 year plan, and the minimum cost for this will be $32.35 per month. For that you get 150 minutes included (but you can choose to double your minutes as a freebie). You can choose whether or not you want the data add-on for an extra $10 a month – this depends on you personally though. For example, I have an iPhone 4 and I never need the data – I’m almost always somewhere where I can use the wi-fi connection.

There are a few other potential costs and terms and conditions, so do make sure to have a good read before you make your order.

Some people might consider the iPhone 3GS as old and slow, which is probably when you compare it to current models. But if you want a current model, you’re not going to get anything comparable in this price range.

And remember, you can get the Dell voice app which could be a really excellent tool – I wrote about it here in the Fongo post. It uses an iPhone app to give you totally free Canadian calls (would probably just need to do it through your wi-fi network). That’s pretty much free unlimited calling.

And as for other ideas, the iPhone 3GS a great device for using as a media player – stores plenty of music in that 32GB!

So perhaps if you’re still using an old “dumbphone” and want to upgrade to a smartphone, this could be a relatively inexpensive foray into that market. Or, if it’s time to renew or get a new plan anyway and were expecting to be paying around this amount, then it could be a good deal, as it only ties you in to the plan for a single year. And as an added bonus, you’ll be able to use the Bargainmoose deals iPhone app. 32GB iPhone 3GS For $63.42 With 1 Year Rogers Plan

For $32: Get Chapters $25 Gift Card & 2 Rogers Magazine Subs @ rdeals.ca

For $32: Get Chapters $25 Gift Card & 2 Rogers Magazine Subs @ rdeals.ca

Another daily deals site springs from the magic of the interwebs, and this time it’s operated by Rogers – they’ve launched rdeals.ca. And to celebrate their launch, they’ve actually got a pretty sweet offer. For $32, you’ll get a $25 Chapters gift card and 2 magazine subscriptions.

The magazine subscriptions and the Chapters Indigo gift card can be sent to separate addresses, so this would be ideal if you are thinking of getting it as a gift for someone else.

Magazine choices (all have free shipping):

  • Chatelaine (En/Fr) – 1 year (12 issues)
  • Today’s Parent – 1 year (12 issues)
  • Flare – 1 year (12 issues)
  • LOULOU (En/Fr) – 1 year (8 issues)
  • MoneySense – 1 year (7 issues)
  • Sportsnet – 6 months (13 issues)

Each of the above magazines would have regular subscription costs of between $15 and $20 for the period. So when you count that up, along with the $25 Chapters gift card, you’ve got a pretty sweet deal. My picks would be Chatelaine (as I like their cooking features). And I would also get Today’s Parent, as I am one now and it has some great articles on things I am going to need like potty training, and the terrible twos!

Thanks to ksanders in the forums!
