Book Outlet: 30% Off Family Week & Extra $5 Coupon

Book Outlet: 30% Off Family Week & Extra $5 Coupon

Heads up book-loving Moosers! Starting Friday, Book Outlet is offering 30% off all books, puzzles, games and more – their entire online store will be on sale. I am giving you a warning because you can earn a $5 off coupon code before that date hits.

Here is how it all works. Book Outlet is throwing a party and having a giveaway where you can win one of 10 $25 gift cards. All you need to do in order to receive your exclusive $5 off coupon code is invite two friends who then sign up for the giveaway as well.

The $5 coupon will be for use during the 30% off sale – sort of a double deal of sorts if you are willing to do a bit of work for it. I love combining coupons with sales, so I am going to get my unique link and then invite my friends to enter the contest as well. This is why I am posting about the 30% off sale early – you can earn a bonus $5 off! I think that is worth it.

Are you having trouble getting two friends to sign up to the contest? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Post it to your Facebook wall
  • Tweet about this promotion
  • Email your friends and family

If you do not have any friends and your family hates you, then as a last resort you might want to use multiple email addresses. However, I do not recommend it (I hate multiple email addresses myself!). I just posted on Facebook and Tweeted about the promotion. You can check back on the website to see how many friends have signed up to the contest. In addition, when eligible, you will be emailed the $5 off coupon to use from February 13 – 17th.

I am still on a new-book diet, so this coupon will be given to my partner. The last time I found a deal like this for him, he purchased Legends: Short Novels by the Masters of Modern Fantasy. The book retails for $21.99 and is currently $9.59. If my calculations are correct, the Legends book should be only $6.71 during the sale next week. Take an extra $5 off your order (no minimum) with the coupon code you have earned.

Shipping is $3.99 plus $0.75 per book. The coupon will not apply towards shipping costs.

Book Outlet Coupon Code: $5 Off No Minimum

Book Outlet Coupon Code: $5 Off No Minimum

Oh, maybe just one more. That is exactly what I thought the second I saw this wonderful Book Outlet coupon code for $5 off your order with no minimum purchase this weekend.

Click here to shop @ Book Outlet now

  • Coupon Code: BookOutletJan5
  • Discount: $5 off
  • Expiry: 19th January 2015

This Book Outlet coupon code can only be used once per customer.

The 50/50 section is a good place to start. This is the place where fifty titles have been discounted by an extra 50% off. This week’s theme is puzzles of all sorts. For example, if you are a Sudoku master, then the Will Shortz Presents Fascinatingly Fierce Sudoku (200 Hard Puzzles) book is just what you need to stimulate those brain cells. Originally $8.99, the book is now on sale for $1.64. Personally, I think I need the Sudoku for the stage before beginner level book.

I think mind-bending puzzles can be a lot of fun, so The Little Book of Big Mind Benders would be a great brain tease. Originally $9.95, pick up this softcover book for just $2.19. Throw it in the car for camping when the kids have reached that nagging level of ‘I’m bored’ and you are at your wits end to entertain them, or just get them to shut up.

On Tuesday, I finally went to see the last Hobbit movie. I know there are people who hate the movie, but I rather enjoyed it. I think of the entire trilogy as Peter Jackson’s Hobbit and a beautiful adaptation of the original story (which I have most certainly read). I ran across The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey book at Book Outlet. This is an official tie-in photo guidebook with exclusive photographs and in-depth text about the first of the Hobbit films. The hardcover book retailed for $24.99, but it is at Book Outlet for just $8.79. I have to say, I am mighty tempted to purchase it.

Book Outlet’s website seems to be getting hit hard since the coupon was released. The website is a bit slow and often pictures are not loading properly. Have a little patience, and if you really need to see the cover for a book, I suggest Googling the title rather than waiting endlessly for the photo to show. In some cases, it just never loads.

Shipping is $3.99 plus $0.75 per book. So at the very least, the coupon will cover shipping costs plus a little more for one book.

  • Coupon Code: NEWYEAR
  • Discount: 10% off
  • Expiry: 16th January 2015

What are you reading this New Year? I have set a personal goal of 30 books on Goodreads this year, and those are all books I currently own. I have decided to get through my backlog of unread pages before I buy too many new distractions. One of the books I will be reading this year is All Men Of Genius by Lev Rosen. I actually won a signed copy of this book. Since I was in university, I did not get around to reading it. Thus, this is the year. My partner read the book and quite liked it. You can pick up All Men of Genius at Chapters Indigo. Originally $5.99, the book comes down to $5.39 after coupon.

I will also be reading a million Terry Pratchett books and quite a few books by Neil Gaiman as well. I am only about 20 or so pages into Stardust but it promises to be an interesting read. The book mixes the world of man with the fairy world on the other side of a great wall. A quest will be undertaken to rescue a fair maiden! The online price is currently $12.91, but the book comes down to $11.62 after coupon.

When I mentioned this coupon to my partner, he immediately thought of buying William Shakespeare’s Star Wars Trilogy: The Royal Imperial Boxed Set. This is a set he has wanted to get his hands on for ages – since I found him propped up against a bookshelf in Chapters reading from the first book when it was released. The set includes Verily, A New Hope; The Empire Striketh Back; and The Jedi Doth Return. The online price is $31.58, so after an additional 10% off, you will pay $28.42. One reviewer said:

I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and the Star Wars Universe and believe these books should be in any collection. I have also studied William Shakespeare in school and although I’m not a huge reader and fan of his work I greatly enjoyed this Star Wars/Shakespeare mix and found humor on every page. Also I love the art work found on the box set, very well done.

I believe my partner is ordering them right now. All orders of $25 or more will ship for free. For this and any future Chapters Indigo coupon codes, please visit the forum.

Book Outlet Canada: 30% Off Boxing Day Sale (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 26, 2014 at 1:51 PM

Book Outlet Canada: 30% Off Boxing Day Sale (EXPIRED)

* Updated – sale extended until the 27th December 2014 *

My hubby placed his order the second this sale opened, so I know other bookworms will be interested. Receive an extra 30% off all books at Book Outlet Canada for Boxing Day.

Remember, if you signed up for the 50% off coupon (instead of the 30% off sale), make sure to use your coupon code today.

This sale is ripe with amazing book deals. While my partner was hunting down his favourite authors, we ran across this Orson Scott Card Boxed Set Trilogy with the following three books:

  • Ender’s Game
  • Ender’s Shadow
  • Ender in Exile

Originally $38.99, this box set usually retails for $16.49 at Book Outlet. However, right now it is on sale for $11.54. If you are willing to put up with a few cosmetic issues, the scratch & dent copy for only $8.11.

My own personal wish list was simple: I wanted nothing. Yet, I ended up getting two books. First, I could not resist adding Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett to my collection. Unfortunately, it just went out of stock. However, there are many other books by Terry Pratchett that you can pick up in this sale. I love the adult covers of Soul Music for $3.84 (a fantastic novel), Interesting Times for $5.38, and Maskerade for $6.15. They do not even look like you are reading good old-fashioned fantasy. Some of these books were not in stock just a few hours ago so stock is changing continuously.

If you are looking for a total chick-book that is 100% guilty pleasure and a ‘hard read’ then you need to pick up the very promising The Vampire with the Dragon Tattoo. I am not sure it promises great prose, but I do not think you read this kind of book for the quality or writing. Rather, you just want a deep and satisfying storyline with all the perks the summary promises. The book retails for $7.99, and is now $2.30 at Book Outlet.

For the kids, pick up Let’s Pretend: Nativity Play Set for just $5.03. It retails for nearly three times that price regularly, so it is a nice deal for the kids. Just hide it away in your gift closet until next Christmas.

There are so many good deals on books with new books coming in all the time. This sale is for today only, so jump on it now Moosers so there will be no regrets later! I now have to make room for two more books on my shelf. I have no idea how my partner will ever fit the ones he ordered onto his bookshelf!

Shipping is $3.99 plus $0.75 per book.

Book Outlet Canada: Sign-Up for 50% Off Boxing Day Coupon

Posted by on December 21, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Book Outlet Canada: Sign Up for 50% Off Boxing Day Coupon

Book Outlet Canada is having a 30% off site wide Boxing Day Sale, which is the same as their Black Friday sale was if you missed out. However, you have the opportunity to bump that sale up to 50% off site wide by signing up your email address and sharing their sale with a friend. They will then email you a unique coupon code for 50% off everything.

They had a similar offer for Black Friday (30% off plus a $10 coupon code if you signed up and shared). My husband hauled in a large stack of books with that combination of deals and I think he is looking forward to this Boxing Day sale to do it again. Needless to say, we had to give his book shelves a good organizing after Black Friday as they were overflowing!

The process to score this deal is simple:

  1. Enter your email address (twice)
  2. Share the news with your friends via Facebook, Twitter, Email, or through Link.
  3. Click “Done Sharing. Get my coupon code” after you have shared the deal.
  4. Save the unique coupon code that pops up. This will also be emailed to you.

Make your purchase during Book Outlet’s Boxing Day sale (starting December 26th) and you will receive 50% off everything instead of 30% off for those who are too lazy to simply share this deal with their friends (or who do not know about it). I sent the deal to my partner because we are both avid readers. The Boxing Day sale appears to be one day only and the best book selection will be earlier rather than later!

What books are on your wish list this year? While I have over 20 unread books on my shelf (so I have stopped buying), my hubby is busy collecting a beautiful trade paperback version of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time Series. For my partner’s birthday (January 2nd), I bought him Artemis Awakening by one of his favourite authors, Jane Lindskold. I would have waited until Boxing Day, but the book never would have arrived in time for his birthday.

Book Outlet is one of my favourite places to buy books as they are far below retail value. Even with shipping costs, you are saving oodles of money.

Ruckus Books: 25% off & Free Shipping Grand Opening

Posted by on December 7, 2014 at 2:30 PM

Ruckus Books: 25% off & Free Shipping Grand Opening

Ruckus Books just opened their virtual doors on December 3rd. In honour of their grand opening, they are offering 25% off and free shipping on all orders.

Ruckus Books comes under the same company as Book Outlet, who we know and love already, and they use the same distribution channels as well. However, Ruckus Books is very different from Book Outlet. Where Book Outlet is the premier destination for Canadian discount books, Ruckus books specializes in 3D books. These are really incredibly detailed books where the book itself takes on the shape, image, or texture of what it is about.

3D books make incredible gifts for anyone who is passionate about a certain subject. My companion’s cousin is a huge beer fan. We are not talking Molson or Corona here; this gentleman is a connoisseur of import beers and even built himself a beer cellar. His last vacation was a trip to Belgium for the beer tasting and tours. For him, I think this A World of Beer 3D book would make an incredible gift. The book is shaped like a beer bottle and it tells the history of beer and how it is made. Regularly priced at $29.99, it is now on sale for $22.49.

For me, A World of Chocolate is the book I would choose. In most cities I visit, a chocolate tour is one of the first orders of pleasure. I adore chocolate in all forms: dark, milk, and good quality white. I love it in liquid form and in solid. This book is shaped like a chocolate bar. Not only that, it feels and smells like one too. The book talks about chocolate around the globe and includes a number of recipes for you to experiment with as well. Regularly priced at $29.99, the book is now on sale for $22.49. I like that it comes wrapped in foil and boxed.

I think 3D books are good gifts for anyone extremely passionate about a given subject. There are several books to choose from including food, drink, fashion, and sports. Also, if you run a business, then Ruckus Books can create custom 3D books that preserve texture, shape, size, and even scent into a memorably book.

All prices are in USD. Right now, all books qualify for free shipping.

Chapters Canada Coupon: Double Your Discount on Books Now 10% (EXPIRED)

Chapters Canada has just released a new coupon code to get double the normal Plum discount on books. Instead of receiving 5% off, you will receive a grand total of 10% off. For those of us who have come to just calculate our Plum discount as the ‘normal’ book price at Chapters Canada, this is still an additional 5% off books.

Click here to shop books @ Chapters Indigo Canada now

  • Coupon Code: CHEER
  • Discount: Extra 5% off books for Plum members
  • Expiry: 3rd December 2014

As is common with these promotions, the offer is only available for two days. This is a wonderful time to buy those book lovers in your family their Christmas presents. The coupon works for Plum and irewards members only. Plum rewards is free to join!

The last time Chapters had this offer, my husband pre-ordered a copy of Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Rift Library as he is a huge Avatar fan and bought the previous books. This book will not be released until February. So you might want to look into the previous two.

Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Promise Library is $29.03 for non-Plum members and comes down to $26.13 after coupon code. It is the first of the three library size books. The second book is Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Rift, which retails for the same price. Pay only $26.13 for it as well. The library editions are huge hardcover editions with very good quality paper. They are well worth the price and make great gifts.

Books are really subjective, everyone likes different stuff! Thus, it is hard to make recommendations based on my tastes because you might not like what I like. However, I do know that the final instalment of The Hobbit trilogy is coming out and fans may want to buy the book! Pick up this The Hobbit: Gift Edition is beautiful hardcover. The book retails for $16.49, but will cost $14.84 after coupon code.

Are there any books on your wish list this year dear Moosers? If there are, drop us a line and let us know what you want to get under the Christmas tree this holiday season.

For this and any future Chapters coupon codes, visit our forum. Shipping is free on orders of $25 or more.

Book Outlet: 30% Off Everything & $5 Off $20 Black Friday Weekend (EXPIRED)

Posted by on November 30, 2014 at 4:38 PM

Book Outlet: 30% Off Everything & $5 Off $20 Black Friday Weekend (EXPIRED)

I mentioned this promotion in another post back on the 24th and I hope our wonderful Moosers have a good memory. This Black Friday weekend Book Outlet is offering 30% off their entire website and this deal goes through Cyber Monday.

This sale is amazing for several reasons. First, if you signed up for one of those $5 or $10 off coupon codes that I mentioned previously, you can now use those on top of this sale to really score a box full of books at an amazing price. I signed up for the $10 coupon and gave it to my husband. He bought a ton of Robert Jordan, Wheel of Time, books and we purchased a book as a gift for a friend. The coupon covered pretty much all the shipping costs and the extra 30% off really helped him save money on the books.

Now, if you do not have one of those coupon codes, we do have an exclusive coupon code that expires TONIGHT: so you had better hop on that quick. Use the code MOOSE5 for $5 off your order of $20 or more. The coupon you would have signed up for through my previous post is better as it has no minimum and it lasts longer, but this is an excellent fallback for those who missed signing up.

Books are very personal, but I have some recommendations. If you are an artist of any sort or know someone who is an artist, then you must buy Neil Gaiman’s Make Good Art speech in book form. With the 30% off it comes down to just $2.49, originally $12.99 (and there is only one copy left so buy it now!). I bought this book for my graduation (at full price, was supporting a local comic book store) and I just bought this book again in this sale to give to a friend. This is a must read for all arts students and anyone who makes art.

One of my partner’s favourite authors is Jane Lindskold and my partner would recommend Nine Gates: Breaking the Wall. I bought him these books in hardcover when they first came out because he was so excited. Originally $24.99, pay just $2.79 after the additional 30% off.

Shipping at Book Outlet costs $3.99 for the order, plus $0.75 for each item. That is mere peanuts considering the extra 30% off books and the coupon codes you can use.

Book Outlet Canada: $10 Coupon & 30% Off for Black Friday

Posted by on November 24, 2014 at 11:54 AM

Book Outlet Canada: $10 Coupon & 30% Off for Black Friday

When I blog I think “what deals would I take advantage of” and this one is high up on my list. Book Outlet will be having a 30% off deal for Black Friday – that is an extra 30% off everything on top of their already amazing deals on books. My poor bookshelves! Even better, until end of day today you can sign up through this little link below to receive a $5 off coupon code. Share with your friends and they will make that a $10 coupon just for you.

I just claimed my coupon by sharing with my husband via email. There are three ways to share:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Email

I chose email because I do not like letting apps have access to my friends lists, social media, and whatnot. This is not an offer to go spamming every email you know with Book Outlet Black Friday deals, they just want you to share this deal with your friends. You need to do this by midnight tonight to qualify for your $10 off coupon. Even if you do not share the deal with anyone, you will still receive a $5 off coupon.

Your coupon code will be emailed to you on the 26th of November – the day before the sale. You can use it in conjunction with the Black Friday sale weekend taking place on November 27th through December 1st. I am beside myself with excitement over this one!

Do you know how expensive books are? I just spend $60 on three books this month – only three! They were brand new books and though I took advantage of extra discounts for hard covers and an extra 5% off, I still spent an ungodly amount of money on three books. That is what I LOVE about Book Outlet – I could probably get around 10 books for that price including shipping. With the Black Friday 30% off deal and my shiny new $10 coupon, I bet I could get even more than that.

Make sure to pick up your coupon today and watch for Book Outlet Canada’s sales come the 27th of November. The best books will go fast so do not wait around.

Shipping at Book Outlet costs $3.99 for the order, plus $0.75 for each item. That is mere peanuts considering your $10 coupon and the extra 30% off books.

Book Depository (UK): Free Shipping No Minimum & Foreign Release Books

Posted by on October 30, 2014 at 2:30 PM

Book Depository (UK): Free Shipping No Minimum & Foreign Release Books

Book Depository (UK) offers free shipping on any order with no minimum to Canada. For book lovers, this is a favourite website for finding older titles and new releases.

You can select Canadian currency at the top right so there is no confusion with currency conversion. Now, free shipping on any book order alone is fantastic. Books are heavy and Canada post most certainly does not deliver them to your door for free so Book Depository foots the bill.

Now, the second part of this ‘deal’ that should tickle any book-lovers fancy is access to foreign books not yet released in the USA or Canada. What we have access to on Chapters Indigo or are books that have been released in North America. However, our release dates can be several years after the books have been released in other countries – like the UK.

The #1 best-selling book on Book Depository right now is The Sleeper and the Spindle (Hardback) by Neil Gaiman. It just was released by Bloomsbury in the UK but will not be released in the USA or Canada until late summer or early fall 2015. Rather than wait almost an entire year for a new book by one of our favourite authors, many Canadians (including me) have bought the book from Book Depository. The Sleeper and the Spindle is currently 27% off. If you are a Gaiman fan or a Chris Riddell fan (fantastic illustrations), then pick up the book for $16.95 (was $23.49). Sure, it is considered a children’s book, but Gaiman’s creations rarely disappoint adult readers.

Even if you could buy the book at Amazon or Chapters (which you cannot) you would never receive free shipping on a book for that price as both our companies have a $25 minimum.

This comes down to two important points:

  1. Free shipping on any book order – no matter how many/few or how expensive/cheap
  2. Access to books that our ‘usual’ book stores do not have access to

You may not even know that some of these books exist unless you follow your favourite authors. When I first found out about The Sleeper book, it was through Neil Gaiman’s twitter. The book is was not even showing up on Amazon or Chapters Indigo a week ago when I ordered as the North American release date was so far away.

As per usual, price compare any books if they are currently available in your normal book stores.

Book Outlet Canada: Get 15% Off Unique Coupon Codes

Book Outlet Canada: Get 15% Off Unique Coupon Codes

Claim your very own unique coupon code for 15% off at Book Outlet Canada. Just fill out your name and email address through the link below to receive your unique promo code.

I requested my coupon and it arrived immediately. Each code is unique so I cannot just do it one time and then supply the coupon to all of you. I was pleased that the code arrived so fast. I forwarded it on to my husband as I really shouldn’t be purchasing anymore books. The picture above is of the books I just purchased this weekend from a local used book sale.

My husband is currently reading through a legendary series – Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. He is on book four and has up to book six in the series. These are mammoth books to read and I am surprised how quickly he is going through them. I might use the coupon code on a couple more books in the series for him. I found The Path of Daggers (Wheel of Time, Bk. 8) in scratch and dent for $3.99. After coupon, it comes down to $3.32. I could also buy him A Crown of Swords (Wheel of Time, Bk. 7) for $5.09 after coupon (was $5.99). Then he would have the next two books in the series.

As you can see from above, my Terry Pratchett obsession continues. If you want to jump on the Pratchett bandwagon, I suggest picking up a copy of Reaper Man for just $3.32 after coupon (was $3.99) and Snuff. Snuff is a new one for me but it sounds fantastic! Sort of like a murder mystery set on Discworld, which is right up my alley. The hardcover of Snuff is $6.99 and comes down to $5.94 after coupon.

I was actually pretty shocked to see Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane and Chu’s Day on Book Outlet. Both of these books are still incredibly popular. Chu’s Day is really great fir kids going to school for the first time whereas The Ocean is best for adults. I want both. Ocean in hardcover will cost me $6.79 (was $7.99) and Chu in hardcover will cost $5.94 (was $6.99).

Shipping is just $3.99 and $0.75 cents per item. That is reasonable when you consider how heavy books are and how much shipping has gone up. I shipped just a shirt to Saskatchewan yesterday and it cost me $12!

Lonely Planet Canada Promo Code: B1G1 On All City Guides

Lonely Planet Canada Promo Code: B1G1 On All City Guides

Ring, ring, London’s calling (or plenty of other top cities Lonely Planet Canada Promo Code: B1G1 On All City Guides )! If you’re planning on travelling and need a city guide, then check out Lonely Planet because until the end of the week, you can take advantage of a “buy one, get one free” deal on all city guide. Just add two books to your cart, apply the promo code below and voila, the price on the second book will be strike-through and the word “free” will appear instead.

Buy one city guide, get one free @ now

  • Coupon Code: FREECITY
  • Discount: BOGO offer on all city guides
  • Expiry: 5th September 2014

I tried the Lonely Planet promo code above on country guide but alas, it truly is only on city guides. Lonely Planet’s site can be a little confusing to navigate, but if you click the link above, then you will see a list of all of the city guides eligible for this promotion. Although all prices on Lonely Planet’s site are in USD, shipping is nevertheless free on orders over $40 to Canada. There are over 80 city guides to choose from and they are all for top cities like Moscow, Vienna, Paris, Seoul, etc. Even a couple of American cities have made it on the list like: Boston, Seattle and Chicago.

London has been one of the cities that I have always wanted to visit but I wouldn’t even know where to start. Searching the net for places to visit and things to go is great and all but the overflow of information can oftentimes be confusing and sometimes, it’s nicer to just read a book or a city guide in this case.

If you’re looking to learn about plenty of cities or if you plan on travelling to several ones in one trip but don’t want to carry that many city guides with you, then you can also take advantage of the BOGO offer on digital versions of these city guides. In fact, the promotion will still work even if you add an actual book alongside an eBook to your cart or even if you choose the bundle option, which is a guide for any given city in both a print and digital format. The bundled price is cheaper than if you were to get these separately. For instance, the Bangkok city guide in print form is $21.99, in digital form is $15.39 and as a bundle is $28.59. These are also the average prices that you can expect to see on almost all of the city guides.

Book Outlet Canada Coupon Code: $20 Off $60

  • Coupon Code: BOOKOUTLET20
  • Discount: $20 off $60
  • Expiry: 18th August 2014 @ 12PM EST

A lot of reading goes on in our house, and some of it you can find on the shelves at Book Outlet. Currently, my bookshelf holds Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett. I have only read a handful of Pratchett’s work and those mainly featured Death or Rincewind. This book will be my first involving the witches, and I hope it is as good as the others are (and better than Eric). Originally $7.99, the book is now $3.99. The Hogfather by Pratchett is also on my bookshelf currently waiting to be read. I have it on authority that it is one of the best of the Discworld novels and involves Death, who is a favourite character of mine. This book also was $7.99, and is now $3.99.

If you like Fantasy, my husband would suggest almost anything by Jennifer Fallon. Glancing at his bookshelf right now, I can tell you he owns all of the Fallon books that Book Outlet has for sale right now. The last one to come out, The Undivided (Rift Runners Book One), I actually bought him as a birthday gift. Originally $26.99, the book is discounted to $5.99. He is impatiently waiting for the next two books in the series to reach Canada now.

My own personal tastes have been towards Neil Gaiman lately, but they do not have many of his books on Book Outlet right now. However, while browsing books I ran across Mugen Spiral (Volume 1) on sale for $3.99, from $9.99. This manga (and volume 2) are on the top of my bookshelf. They are beloved reads and rereads about a girl who can summon ethereal helpers and the demons who are trying to kill her to absorb her power in order to determine the new demon overlord. I highly recommend it!

If you want a sweet series that never has an ending, try Shutterbox. A human girl becomes the anchor for the muse world, but there is an interesting sense of history repeating itself about it all. The series was abandoned, but I still keep my four volumes. Volumes 3 and 4 are on sale for $3.99 each, originally $9.99.

Shipping is $3.99 for the first item, and then an additional $0.75 per item. Be sure to check out the coupon forum for future coupon codes like this one.

Having finished all the coursework for my degree, this is now my summer of reading and cleaning out my book collection. Inevitably, I seem to be buying as many books as I am getting rid of so my bookshelves never get any emptier. I recently bought, and read, The Graveyard book by Neil Gaiman. I was suitably impressed with the quality of writing and I will be purchasing more books by this author. I am eyeing up The Silver Dream by both Neil Gaiman and Michael Reeves. I have never heard of this book before, but it is a sequal to the well-known Interworld. Originally $18.99, the book is on sale for $5.99.

I recently bought Lizzie Newton Book 1 in a used bookstore. It was sort of a hail-mary call as I based it on a few short glances through the book. The art is fantastic and the story is very much Murder She Wrote with a dash of Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple mixed in for good measure.  The art is very nice and I shall be continuing with the series. You can pick up the first volume for $4.49 at Book Outlet. They also have Lizzie Newton Book 2, which I do not have yet, priced at $4.49 as well.

On my reading list this summer are many Terry Pratchett novels from his Diskworld series. I have already read Reaper Man, which stars my favourite character: Death. You can pick up a copy on Book Closeouts for just $3.99. So far, it is my favourite of the Death novels, but I have just read that one and most of Mort. My husband says that Hogfather is the best of all. I do plan to read both the Hogfather and Soul Music, which is another Death novel by Pratchett. You can pick up a scratch and dent copy for cheap on Book Outlet: only $2.49.

With the extra $10 off $30, you can really stock up on books whether your shelves can handle the extra weight or not. Shipping is $3.99 for the first item, and then an additional $0.75 per item. Be sure to check out the coupon forum for future coupon codes like this one.

Chapters Indigo Canada: Bonus Plum Rewards on Kids’ Books (Up to $15 Value)

Chapters Indigo Canada: Bonus Plum Rewards on Kids Books (Up to $15 Value)

Chapters Indigo Canada is a big supporter of reading. This summer they are offering bonus plum rewards when you purchase select children’s books.

You will receive a bonus 2,500 Plum Rewards for every three kid’s books you purchase. 2,500 Plum rewards are equal to $5 worth. You can receive a maximum bonus for nine books, which is up to 7,500 bonus plum rewards which equals $15 worth of bonus rewards.

Often children’s books get as low as $5 so you are getting almost 33% value back if you buy the cheaper books. I was looking at the age range 0 – 5 because I have a few friends with young children. I picked out:

I adore Dr. Seuss and love the TV series they have done with Cat in The Hat voiced by Martin Short. The other two books have such lovely art and look so very different from each other. I am sure both would be a joy for a youngster to read.

If I purchased those three books for a total of $14.22, I would receive $5 worth in plum rewards to spend on my next purchase.

Of course, with Chapters Indigo offering free shipping at $25, I would probably buy six books and aim for a bonus 5,000 points just to get the free shipping. It is certainly worth it. If you were buying for several children, you could go up to nine books for the maximum bonus. However, be sure you are picking books through the link above (and use the “shop all” tabs) as not all children’s books on Chapters Indigo’s site qualify for this deal.

There are a few other interesting little kinks to this deal. One, it appears that the eligible books might change on a monthly basis, based on what I was reading in the fine print. However, in total, nine books will still only qualify for the bonus plum rewards. In addition, any earned bonus plum points from this offer must be redeemed by October 15, 2014.

Books included in this sale are geared towards age ranges:

  • 0 – 5
  • 6 – 8
  • 9 – 12

However, you know what reading level your child is at so while their age might fall into one of these ranges, their reading level might be in another. Check out multiple sections in case there is anything of interest that they have categorized as a different age group.

(Expiry: 31st August 2014)
