John Masters Organics Coupon Code: 10% Discount

Posted by on March 17, 2014 at 7:00 PM

John Masters Organics Coupon Code: 10% Discount

John Masters Organics is one of my favourite organic skincare and haircare companies. Currently they have a coupon code to get 10% off your order at their online store.

Click here to shop @ John Masters Organics Canada now

  • Coupon Code: SPRING
  • Discount: 10% off
  • Expiry: Unknown

I thought the ultimate test would be on some of the bundle packs that Eva mentioned in her post last month. I picked out the summer bundle which is currently $75, down from $100. After I applied the coupon code above to the bundle, the price came down even lower to just $67.50.  The bundle includes the zinc and sage shampoo and conditioner, sea mist sea salt spray with lavender, natural mineral sunscreen and lip calm.

I really need to talk about that sea mist sea salt spray with lavender. You can buy it in the bundle above or get it on its own for $22 regular price and only $19.80 after coupon. The bottle is absolutely huge and lasts forever. I know this because I own a bottle of it and I use it on my hair pretty much every day, and sometimes a couple times a day. If you have really thick hair (like mine) but cannot stand hair sprays or gels then this is the spray for you. It is low maintenance and gives you volume without the fuss. It doesn’t make your hair feel gross and it smells really nice if you like ocean and lavender.

Get free shipping on orders of $60 or more and complimentary samples.

You can find John Masters Organics Promo Codes on our coupon forum too.

How To Be A Frugal & Organic Cleaner

Posted by on January 17, 2014 at 8:00 PM

How To Be A Frugal & Organic Cleaner

Do you spend too much money on cleaning supplies? You really don’t have to, as there are many frugal ways to clean your home, and the best part is not only do they save you money, but they also are better for the environment and your health. Really, most chemical-dependant cleaning supplies are usually cheap and there is almost always a coupon for them, but the effects on your health are not cheap. I have phased out almost all commercial cleaning products in my home and where I couldn’t, I buy organic and eco-friendly products, usually from Well.ca when they have a sale. Below I will give you some tips on how to clean your house without spending more than a few dollars.

Prevention

First, prevention is key to keeping a clean house. The old adage of “clean as you go” really applies here and saves you time and even money. If you let a mess sit and build, it only gets harder to clean. Think baked on spaghetti sauce on your stove top. Other ways to prevent messes include taking off your shoes outside, wiping your dog’s feet before they come in, giving your dishes a slight rinse before putting them in the dishwasher, wiping down your shower or bath and your taps after using them and not having children. Okay, so the last one might be a tough one, but your kids can perform all of these actions as well.

Vinegar

Vinegar and I go way back. It is so cheap! I guess that’s why we make great friends. Besides that, you can buy a large bottle of vinegar for only a few dollars and it will last quite a while. There are a million ways you can use vinegar to clean your home. I like using it as a disinfectant on my kitchen counters and keep a spray bottle mixed with about 20% vinegar and 80% water under the sink. I also like to use it in my laundry to freshen up towels that may have sat for too long. Mix it with dish soap and you can use it to clean your shower and tub, or your floors. Vinegar is so perfect… Vinegar Tips has those millions of ways to clean with it.

Baking soda

Baking soda goes on sale for about $1 a box and like vinegar, it has many uses. You can use it as a safe scouring agent for your toilets, stove tops and sinks. I love to use it with my best friend vinegar to clean the drains. Simply pour the baking soda all over the sink and down the drain. Follow slowly with vinegar and watch it fizzle as it cleans and unclogs the drain. End with boiling water. You can also use it to absorb odours in your fridge. For the multitude of ways to clean with baking soda, check out The New Homemaker. Another great use I found it for was to get rid of “boy pee smell” from my bathroom. Boy pee smell is when you have young boys (and probably some men) who aren’t great at aiming quite yet and the smell seeps into your tile or bathroom flooring. It is a very nasty thing and baking soda and vinegar work well to cut this smell so your kids are allowed to urinate inside the house again.

Essential oils

While essential oils might cost more than a few pennies, you only need a teeny tiny amount, so they will last a long time. If you feel that using vinegar and baking soda just doesn’t yield that “just clean” smell, essential oils will make your home smell fresh and not chemically clean. They are great for disinfecting and getting rid of mold and mildew, too. They also make great fabric refreshers, so your dog doesn’t die from the Febreeze sprayed all over its bed. For one hundred ways to clean with essential oils, check out Mind Body Soul Essentials.

Pumice stones

What disheartened me at first when I started with natural cleaners was that if the toilets were too dirty, they didn’t get a great clean from those products. Enter in the pumice stone. Very cheap to buy, this baby scrubs like nothing on that toilet guck and gets rid of everything except the white porcelain. Want to know how? Check out Apartment Therapy.

Castile soap

This soap can be both expensive or inexpensive to buy, depending on what you need. I buy Dr. Bronner’s and while the liquid large bottle goes for $20, the bars of soap are only $5 and can last for quite a while. We use it to wash all of the floors and I love the lavender scent.

Citrus fruit

Lemons and other citrus fruits smell great, but they also do double duty as a cleaning agent that can remove stains and mildew. Another cool trick is to put a lemon in the microwave, turn it on for 30 seconds and your microwave will be easy to wipe down. I also like the idea of putting fruit that may be past its prime into a pot of water on the stove top and turn it on low. The scent will act as a natural air freshener. Lifehacker tells you how you can put lemons, limes and more to good use.

Old clothing and fabric

When my kids have clothes that are stained or torn beyond repair, if they are the right type of fabric, I will often cut them up and use them as rags and sometimes dishcloths. There is no point in throwing out perfectly useable clothing and spending money on buying new cloths to use to clean. Similarly, if you have some wool kicking around, you can make these wool dryer balls that will save you money (and the toxins) you would have spent on dryer sheets.

Bargainmoosers, do you have any ideas for natural cleaning ideas that won’t squeeze your wallet? Let me know in the comments below!

Innocent Earth Canada Promo Code: 40% Off

Innocent Earth Canada Promo Code: 40% Off

Get 40% off stylish organic clothing for mom, baby and child.

Click here to shop @ Innocentearth.ca now

  • Coupon Code: ECOSALE40
  • Discount: 40% off
  • Expiry: Unknown

This coupon code is really great because it works on everything, including sale items so you can score yourself some wicked deals. Innocent Earth bills themselves as a boutique with a conscience. I had read it as a budget with a conscience and I think both are right. You don’t have to spend exorbitant amounts of money to get good-quality organic clothing for you and your babes. They also have toys and games, bath and body and bedding. As always, I start in the sale section to find the best deals.

Being an avid nurser who has spent almost six years breastfeeding, I can admit that you really don’t *need* a breastfeeding wardrobe. That said, a nursing bra is almost a must for younger kids who you’ll be whipping it out for on a very frequent basis. I never owned a breastfeeding top, but instead I stretched the crap out of many of my regular tops pulling them down at the neck. I did not like showing my belly in public – boobs were ok – belly not my idea of fun after giving birth. Innocent Earth has a few really nice nursing tops and if they looked like that when I started nursing, I probably would have bought quite a few. This Boob Design nursing top in skipper is very cute and was $85, brought down to $51, and further discounted to $30.60 with coupon.

Wrap your baby in the best and organic fabrics, like this Frugi organic hooded marl blanket, was $29, then $21.75, with coupon only $12.50.

Shipping is free on orders over $150, or it is $10.

Don’t forget to stop by the Bargainmoose forum to check out all of the Innocent Earth coupons.

I have shopped with this company before and I am very happy with them. Their customer service is fantastic and they have the most lovely packaging. They also always send free and very generous samples of other products you might like.

They just recently added a cosmetics line to the products they carry and I am pretty eager to try it out (see the banner above). I want to get the Kjaer Weis – Foundation in Paper Thin (as I’m not sure I am quite a true Porcelain). It costs $70 and I would want to get the matching foundation brush for $33. In total I would be spending $103 and get $15 off so I would only pay $88 for both items.

Orders of $50 or more ship for free. For any future Clementine Fields coupon codes check out the forum.

Not only do we have a great exclusive for a great store, but you can pair it with their huge sale happening right now.  Save 15% on your entire order at Silk Berry Baby with our exclusive coupon on top of huge savings on all their bedding.

Buying organic, although better for your baby, can be really expensive.  My son had very sensitive skin when he was born and we had to buy everything organic and scent free.  A huge cost was organic bedding.  Right now at Silk Berry Baby, they have all their bedding items on sale.

We have a few of their receiving blankets and just loved them for my son.  Check out this bamboo receiving blanket that was $29.99 and is now $17.99.  With the additional 15% off at the checkout, the price becomes just $15.29 a much more reasonable price.

I also like this Toddler comforter that was $98.99 and is now $59.39.  It has a removable silk filling on it perfect for both summer and winter sleep. With our exclusive 15% at the checkout, the price drops to just $50.48.  That is an incredible deal for an organic comforter.

Bamboobino Canada Coupon: Exclusive 15% Off Regular Priced Items

There are so many great Canadian stores out there that it would be impossible to talk about all of them.  This is one of those stores that I have not yet wrote about, but it is worth checking out.  We have a new exclusive coupon code for Bamboobino that will save you on your purchase.  Save 15% on all regular priced items with this exclusive coupon.

Click here to shop @ Bamboobino.com now

  • Coupon Code: MOOSE15
  • Discount: 15% off regular priced items
  • Expiry: 31st December 2013

I love coupons like this because you get a deal on items that have yet to go on sale.  You don’t have to wait until the end of the season or a special holiday to get it on sale because the coupon code will save you 15% before that happens.

Bamboobino is a company that strives to be the softest, most practical and least damaging (to humans and to the environment) for clothing, bedding and basically everything they sell.  Their products are made from bamboo fibres and organic cotton, which make great gifts for your family and are good for the environment.

When my kids were little they practically lived in their beanie hats.  Here are a couple of Beanie hats that are $10 but will be just $8.50 with the exclusive coupon at the checkout.  It’s not a bad price once you consider that it is organic cotton.  Both of my kids had very sensitive skin and I had to buy organic for most of their baby items.

Another item that I relied on a lot was my swaddle blankets.  I found this swaddle blanket that was $35 but will be just $29.75 with our exclusive coupon.

As for the cost of shipping, it will depend on what and how much you buy.  If you live in Vancouver, you will have the option to pick it up for free at their store.

For this and more Bamboobino coupons, you will find them all posted up on the Bargainmoose coupon forum.

Well.ca: 20% off Select Dr. Bronner’s Soap

Well.ca: 20% off Select Dr. Bronners Soap

Going natural and organic can be very expensive and the price often puts people off. Enter Dr. Bronner’s. He makes some of the most affordable all natural and organic goods out there. With an extra 20% off at Well.ca you can sing all the way to the shower.

It is fairly easy to see that anything marked in red is on sale and anything not marked in red is not. Last night I discovered I was allergic to my new body wash (seriously) after watching my poor legs break out into a large red and spotty rash. What I was using was organic but I’m not sure it was all natural so now I am on a mission to make sure anything I use is both. You can get an absolutely massive container of Dr. Bronner’s Organic Pure Castile Liquid Soap in Tea Tree for only $15.99 (regularly $19.99). This boy is 946 mL (32 oz) big and is perfect for anyone with some acne problems or prone to cuts and bruises. I think it would be perfect for my husband and I. Not only is this product all natural and organic, it is also vegan and fair trade as well! They have this size in other formulas like Lavender and Peppermint just to name a few. You can also get them in smaller sizes if you do not want to commit to such a large bottle so early.

I’m going shopping at Well.ca after this post!

Get free shipping on all orders of $25 or more. Make sure to check the forum for any Well.ca coupon codes you might be able to use.

BabyOrganicJoy.ca Exclusive Promo Code: $5 Off Your $40 Spend

BabyOrganicJoy.ca Exclusive Promo Code: $5 Off Your $40 Spend

With an exclusive coupon code for Bargainmoosers, you’ll get $5 off your $40 purchase at Baby Organic Joy Canada.

Click here to shop @ Babyorganicjoy.ca now

  • Coupon Code: BMOOSE5
  • Discount: $5 off
  • Expiry: 31st July 2013

Baby Organic Joy sell a huge collection of organic baby products or products made with certified organic ingredients. If you are having a baby or have a new little one (or even have older children), I can’t stress enough the importance of organic materials. Little ones put everything in their mouths, food or otherwise, and no one wants them ingesting harmful toxins in the process. If you are looking for a baby gift, this is the store to shop at, because sometimes organic items can be pricey and the new parents have enough expenses to consider! This coupon is awesome because it can also be used on sale items, and the spending threshold is not large.

Consider the Boba Organic Carrier 3G (item# bc110006) in walnut. Since baby’s face is going to be sitting close to this carrier, I think it being organically-made is important. It has all the features you need in a comfortable, sturdy carrier that fits all size of parents and kids. Was $169.99, then $154.99, now $149.99.

As I’ve blogged many a time before, I am a huge believer in natural sunscreen. Get the Badger Baby Sunscreen (item# bg20003) for only $20.99, was $23.99, but spend another $20 and you’ll save another $5.

Here’s what’s awesome about sleep sacks – they keep the baby warm, while not using blankets that can potentially be dangerous to baby. I’ve also heard they help baby sleep better and longer, but having never used one, and thinking there really is no science to a baby’s sleep habits, I can’t say for sure. The Green Bean Baby Cotton Flannel Sleep Sack (item# gb101032) was $59.99, then $45.99, and is now $40.99.

Shipping is free on orders over $25, so not only do you save $5 but you get free shipping!

Ethical Deal Canada: Deals On Ethical Groceries

Ethical Deal Canada: Deals On Ethical Groceries

Ethical Deal now has deals on ethical, greener choice groceries.

Although many grocery stores are now stocking organic and more environmentally-friendly options for groceries, I still have a hard time finding many items. Even the local health food store sometimes doesn’t have what I am looking for. One example of this would be all-natural sunscreen. I couldn’t find it anywhere in the huge city that I live in so I ended up ordering it online, which in retrospect, was the easiest option in the first place. What’s great about this Ethical Deal is that not only can you get your items online, you’ll get them for a great deal.

Check out this organic pumpkin seed oil, which is said to prevent urinary and prostate problems, ease arthritic symptoms and maintain cholesterol levels. Normally $25 a bottle, you’ll pay only $22 for two bottles.

Argan oil is very “it” right now and for good reason. It is amazing for both hair and skin. For $30 you’ll get two bottles of fair trade Argan oil, comparing at $26 a bottle.

Sugar that’s good for you? No way! Coconut sugar has been known to strengthen bones and teeth, increase kidney function and maintain blood sugar levels. It is way better than the processed stuff when you need some sweetness. Get it for $12 for 1kg (worth $29) or $23 for 2kg (a $57 value).

Shipping for these items depends on where you live.

Save Money on Organic Stuff

Posted by on May 28, 2013 at 8:00 PM

Save Money on Organic Stuff

We all know that eating organic is better for us (really, who wants mashed potatoes with a side of pesticide?), but because organic food is expensive, we often don’t opt to make this lifestyle change. Same goes for organic products.  Shampoos, conditioners, and body wash all contain chemicals that aren’t so great for our bodies, but oftentimes, USDA approved organic hair and body products are 30-50% more in price.

With the economy still recovering or flatlining, healthy habits and changes often go to the back burner due to cost.  However, here are a few tips on how to save money on organic stuff so that you can make that change towards healthier, cleaner living.

Organic Produce on the Cheap

Organic produce is expensive, there’s no doubt about it.  To offset this, you could try growing your own organic food or you can opt to buy organic produce only when it matters.  For example, did you know that organic bananas are a bit of a moot point?  Do you know why?  See the Bargainmoose post eating organic on the cheap for more information.  To summarize, buy organic produce especially for the fruits and vegetables that fall in the “Dirty Dozen” category.  To see a list of the amount of pesticide content for each fruit and vegetable you usually buy, go to Foodnews.org for a great list.

You could also grow your own herbs.  Herbs are notoriously easy to grow and they make your food taste better (without having to add salt, which is bad for your heart health), it’s a win-win situation.

 Organic Foodstuff on the Cheap

Whole Foods isn’t called Whole Paycheque for no good reason.  According to CNN Money,  buying at Whole Foods (even though it is wholesome and good for you) can be quite pricey, hence the nickname “Whole Paycheque”.  Although Whole Foods is trying to change that acquired nickname in recent news, there are people who like shopping there despite the cost.

Shoppers Drug Mart has a great organic brand called Nativa that makes very reasonably priced organic food.  Things like chocolate, coffee, chips, olive oil, and cookies are all 100% certified organic. For example, organic quick oats instant oatmeal is $1.99 on sale a lot of the time.  They also have chips and other not-so-good-for-you-despite-being-organic foods.  The great thing about Shoppers Drug Mart is that you can use your coupons without looking silly (like you probably would at Whole Foods since people who shop there probably scoff at coupons).  They have bonus redemption weekends and 20x the points events.  All the more reason to use your points sooner rather than later.

If you live near the border, Trader Joe’s is great alternative to Whole Foods.  They have almost 400 stores in the United States and although they are mostly in California, there are some in Washington for the west coasters.  They have cheap wine (including the famous “Two Buck Chuck” wine for $1.99) and 80% of the products they carry in store are “house brand” products.  They go through rigorous sourcing of manufacturers for their products to ensure that everything is natural, fair trade, and not from China.

Organic Beauty on the Cheap

According to Organic Authority, conventional shampoo and conditioner products contain harsh chemicals that can strip the the hair of its natural beauty.  Conventional shampoo and conditioner products often contain pthalates.  Pthalates help make the foaming/sudsy sensation but can wreck havoc to your body.  Pthalates are dangerous because they have been shown to damage the liver, kidneys, lungs, and reproductive systems in animal studies.

Well.ca is a Canadian online only pharmacy (minus real prescriptions) that houses tons and tons of organic products. They give you free shipping if you order more than $25 worth anywhere in Canada.  They have a great clearance and sale section where you can score cheap organic beauty products.  Bargainmoose has a great post that updates you on the latest coupons and sales from Well.ca.

Also, if you’re in the neighbourhood, Trader Joe’s also carries some great house brand shampoo and conditioner products for the cheap.  For example, I bought a 473mL  Citrus Conditioner with vitamin C for about $3.  Mind you, the ingredients list contains parabens which are no good in the organic world, but I’ll give it a try anyway Save Money on Organic Stuff

Bargainmoosers, do you have any other must-shop places for organic food and beauty on the cheap?
