Nordstrom (US): Duty Free Shipping with no Minimum

In honour of Nordstrom’s first store in Canada opening, they are now offering duty free shipping to Canada for a limited time only. No minimum purchase is required.

For Canadian orders, all prices will be calculated in Canadian dollars. They have low international shipping rates with a flat rate of $9.95 standard shipping to Canada. Express shipping is available for $25 when you spend $100 or more.

The first International Nordstrom has opened in the Chinook Mall in Calgary, Alberta. I am super jealous of one of my colleagues who live in Calgary as she can go there and I am only a thousand miles away or so. Nordstrom seems to have learned a few lessons from Target’s expansion into Canada. Instead of opening multiple stores in quick succession, they are just dipping their toes in the water with the store in Calgary first. There is certainly one planned on Vancouver (they are currently renovating the old Sears building) and I assume one in Toronto as well within the next few years.

In my opinion, Nordstrom fills a gap in the Canadian market. While they will compete with Hudson’s Bay, Nordstrom also carries higher quality clothing with designer names like Burberry, Kate Spade, and more. That higher end market is lacking in department stores across Canada. Goodness knows I love designer.

I checked out the designer collections online in the Nordstrom sale section. This rag & bone Racerback Tank is on sale from $146.26 down to $58.48. It is in my price range for a good quality tank but is not quite long enough for me to wear with leggings. However, it is still tempting as they have my size in stock. Maybe I can pair it with jeans or a skirt instead.

I could not resist looking at Burberry on sale. If I could convince myself I needed another coat (I do not), then I would be purchasing this Burberry Brit ‘Crombridge’ Double Breasted Linen Trench this second. Originally $1047.20, the jacket is discounted to $523.60. That is 50% off the original price. Someone hide my credit card please!

Now these MCQ by Alexander McQueen Mesh Leggings are not on sale, but someone buy them for me please. They are seriously killing me… oh so softly. They are totally out of my budget right now at $222.32 but one can make exceptions? As this is duty free, I am saving a good extra 20%!

Nordstrom (US): Free Shipping to Canada on $100+

Nordstrom (US) is offering free shipping to Canada on orders of $100.

Nordstrom may be a US company but they are totally worth posting about because if this sweet promotion. They are also trying to cultivate a consumer base in Canada so they offer:

  • All prices in Canadian dollars
  • Duties and taxes calculated at checkout
  • Low international shipping rates (free when you spend $100 currently)
  • Guaranteed landed costs (no additional charges at delivery)

I shopped at this store for the first time when I was in Seattle in December. Their sales section was unbelievably lovely and I came away with a band style wool coat by Smythe for just over 60% off. My husband just told me yesterday that Nordstrom is coming to Canada and their first store will open in Calgary in 2014. I wasn’t planning a trip to Calgary but now I might have to when I go back to Alberta.

Have you ever shopped at Nordstrom? What do you think of the US giant?
