    NewEgg.ca: Black November Sale

Posted by on November 10, 2012 at 6:00 PM

    NewEgg.ca: Black November Sale

Nevermind Black Friday, NewEgg Canada has a whole month of Black Fridays with Black November!

There are four pages of deals here. These are a few of them:

Black Friday is coming early I guess. For those of you who don’t know, Black Friday is the day after American Thanksgiving that supposedly starts Christmas shopping. I don’t know about you but I’ve been Christmas shopping for weeks. Regardless, retailers “celebrate” this day by having a bunch of great sales! As I mentioned earlier, NewEgg has a whole week of “Black” sales with Black November.

I included a TV made by a company called Sceptre in my deals up there and I just wanted to mention something about the brand. They are not a big brand name so I don’t know anything about them. I don’t know their quality and I don’t generally trust online comments about a company because people generally go on to complain, not to say how great something is. Anywho, I looked around just so I could give you a backgroud on them. They are a California based company and have been around since 1984. They started making CRT TVs and have evolved into what they are now. They make a lot of stuff but TVs seem to be their main product. Their TVs took 7 spots on the 10 ten best selling TVs on walmart.com. I don’t know if that is due to the ever plummeting jobless numbers and crumbling economy but it’s impressive, nonetheless.

NewEgg.ca: Save $110 on a Brother Colour LED Printer (Save 37%)

Posted by on October 29, 2012 at 4:00 AM

NewEgg.ca: Save $110 on a Brother Colour LED Printer (Save 37%)

Print like a pro and save money like a cheapskate with this Brother printer from NewEgg Canada.

This is quite a good sale and as such has been limited to 5 per customer. Darn, I was going to order a baker’s dozen. The printer was $299.99 but like I mentioned you save $110 which brings your price to $189.99.

You’ll notice that his is an LED printer as opposed to a laser printer. The two actual;;y work in quite a similar way but LED has one major advantage! The laser printer uses laser light to “paint” the blank areas of the page you are printing on to the print drum. The toner doesn’t go where the light has touched. This means that the laser has to mechanically move back and forth to hit the right areas. The LED printers use a stationary strip of LEDs that span the length of the drum and therefore do not have to move.

This printer is more geared towards business, it seems. Here are some features:

  • Up to 19 ppm
  • 600 x 2400 dpi Black Print Quality
  • Ethernet
  • Up to 25,000 pages monthly
  • 64 MB Memory, std.

NewEgg.ca: Save up to 30% ($30) on Select 2.5″ and 3.5″ Internal HDDs

NewEgg.ca: Save up to 30% ($30) on Select 2.5 and 3.5 Internal HDDs

Mo’ storage, less money. That’s the deal that NewEgg Canada is bringing you! If your hard drive is feeling a little cramped lately,  read on! Even if it isn’t, you should still continue reading, it’s a pretty good deal.

There are two hard drives on sale here. Check them out.

Doesn’t seem like you see very many deals on internal hard drives anymore. Generally you see a lot more external drives. I suspect this is because most systems are being shipped with fairly large hard drives to begin with. Most people never really need to upgrade their storage and if they do need more storage it’s more of an archival thing so they buy external drives and stack them in a closet somewhere until they need to get that old document or the Christmas pictures from five years ago. Nevertheless, there are tons of reasons to get another hard drive.

Before I continue, one note about the drives themselves: I’ve had one Hitachi drive go bad and the RMA process was great. Fast and super. No hassle.

I’m an advocate of having spare parts laying around in case your computer dies at 3:00AM on a Sunday morning and you need to get it back up and running. A hard drive is definitely an essential spare part to have around the house. I’d even install an operating system and all your essential programs and drivers on one that way you can pop it in and boot from it immediately.

NewEgg.ca: $10 off Select ADATA External Hard Drives + Free Shipping!

NewEgg.ca: $10 off Select ADATA External Hard Drives + Free Shipping!
Storage is cheaper than ever. Does that mean that NewEgg’s deal on ADATA hard drives is from the future? The answer is yes.
These are the four hard drives available. There are actually only two hard drives but in different colors.

To get these deals you need to use the following coupon code:

    • Discount: $10 off
    • Coupon Code: ADADASHO24C
    • Expiry: 28th October 2012

These are pretty good deals, especially with free shipping. I suggest the 1TB drives as they are cheaper per MB than the 500MB drives. At the rate that file sizes are climbing with HD Video and high res images you can tear through 500MB really fast. In fact, you can go through 1TB really fast. I have two 1TB drives on my server in the basement and they are both almost completely full. You can never have enough storage, kids!

NewEgg.ca: The Coolest Deal on Computer Gear and Other Tech

NewEgg.ca: The Coolest Deal on Computer Gear and Other Tech

That frog wants you to buy some awesome stuff at great prices from New Egg Canada. Obey!

Here are a few of the deals available:

So you’ll likely notice that these deals are all from the first page. I did that to show how great of a sale this is. Out of 6 pages, 62 items, I picked four out of the first page, the first 12 items. I didn’t even have to look. I didn’t even have to scrounge to get some variety. This is another one of those great sales that has a bit of everything. Even a frog. That is one awesome frog.

Anywho, this is where I talk about something so let’s talk about shipping! Ooooo! Exciting, I know. Seriously though, the shipping costs here are nuts. You can get a laser printer, which is a big, heavy item, shipped to your door for $5. How crazy is that? I can’t send a registered letter to my next door neighbor for under $5. People always complain about big companies putting the little guy out of business but with clout like this, I don’t really mind. If the little guy can make my product appear at my front door for $5 then you can call me Mr. Small Business.

    NewEgg.ca: 72 Hour Sale!

Posted by on October 10, 2012 at 5:00 PM

    NewEgg.ca: 72 Hour Sale!

NewEgg Canada has a sale spreading across all price points and all departments. Check it out for some great deals on monitors, computers, audio, networking and more.

They split this sale up into three categories. They have over $100, under $25 and $25 – $50. Here are some of the deals from each category.

Of all the things here, I think the prices on the laser printers are the best. I know I’ve said it before but I’m still kind of amazed that the prices are this low. I remember when a black and white laser printer was $1000 and that really wasn’t that long ago. A sub-$100 laser printer is nuts but a sub-$100 color laser printer is just insane!

Oh, I also want to mention something about Okidata. I know that in my mind Okidata were always the people who made those old dot matrix printers but over the past few years I’ve worked a lot with their laser printers and I have to say that even the older models I deal with are pretty good.

But there are a lot of other things available here, so don’t just stop at printers. They have it segmented into dollar amounts which is good if you’re trying to stay within a budget. With Christmas coming up very soon (2 1/2 months away) budgets are going to get more and more important! Of course if you aren’t worried about the budget quite yet they have products all the way up to $1000+ laptops on sale, if that’s what you need.

New Egg Canada: Clearance Sale of Overstocked Items

Posted by on August 28, 2012 at 8:00 AM

New Egg Canada: Clearance Sale of Overstocked Items

New Egg Canada has all the overstocked items on sale for up to 80% off regular price. All prices are final after rebate(s) and offer expires on August 31st 2012.

    Sale item categories:

    • Networking devices
    • Cables and Accessories
    • Software
    • Notebooks and Accessories
    • Electronics
    • Kitchen and Home Electronics

I don’t pretend to know a lot about networking devices, but I did find this Intellinet 52445 Wireless 150N 4-Port Router for $34.99 and after comparison shopping, found the same thing on Shopbot.ca for $48.37.

These Link Depot C6M-3BUB 3 ft. Cat 6 Blue network cables are just $1.49 and quite handy to have around. The cheapest I found anywhere else was $1.86.

This TuneUp Utilities 2011 3 – User for System Builders OEM is a good deal. New Egg’s price is $14.99 and they state save $25, but I did find it on a couple of websites for $19.99. It’s still a good savings and a pretty good version of Tuneup.

If you’re in need of a notebook accessory kit, this Rosewill Handy Notebook Accessory kit, model RTKT-11002 is only $9.99, a good price considering I found the same thing on Amazon.com for $11.79.

Finally, I need to mention the Rosewill R-WS-001 Wine Opening Set for $9.99, purely because I like it. The comparison shopping on this was a little easier, and I found that most websites were around the same price.

Make sure you compare each item that you’re interesting in so you get the best price available, but don’t wait too long, these items are going fast.

Shipping: $4.99 for domestic ground via Purolator.

Brother “Simply Stylish” Thermal Transfer Labeler Printer only $29.99 & Free Shipping @ Newegg.ca

Brother Simply Stylish Thermal Transfer Labeler Printer only $29.99 & Free Shipping @ Newegg.ca

The Brother PT-1290 Home & Office “Simply Stylish” Thermal Transfer Labeler Printer is on special offer at Newegg.ca just now. The previous price was $49.99, but you can now get it for only $29.99, including free shipping to your home.

The Brother PT-1290 labeller gets a review rating of 4 eggs out of 5 on Newegg.ca, based on 11 reviews in total. There are a lot of positive comments on there such as:

    Great product for the money.

I’m really pleased with this product.

Works great, the best I’ve used so far!

Most people seem to be very happy with this Brother labeler.

I am moving house in a couple of weeks and kind of wish I had a labeller! I am tripping over boxes to the left, right and centre, and I’ve really got to start marking them to remind me what’s in them. When I eventually get round to unpacking them again, it’s going to be fun opening these boxes, and rediscovering all my goodies!

Anyone of the Bargainmoosers have a labeller? We’ve posted a few deals for them on Bargainmoose over the years and I wondered if anyone uses one on a regular basis?

Newegg Canada: Brother All-In-One Laser Printer with Networking and Duplex only $160 (Was $270)

Posted by on July 6, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Newegg Canada: Brother All In One Laser Printer with Networking and Duplex only $160 (Was $270)

Print with LASERS on BOTH sides of the page… Like a boss!

There are a few ways to tell if something is a good deal. The first is to check out Bargainmoose. (Eh? Eh? See what I did there? Yeah.) the second is to see if the company has put a limit on how many you can buy. Normally you see a limit of five per household on bottles of pop or bars of soap. Something little that people might go in and buy 150 of just to have them forever. You rarely see it on a $160 printer. Well this $160 printer has a limit of five per customer at Newegg because it’s that good of a deal. You add $5 shipping on top of the whole deal and you’re golden.

The printer is a Brother MFC-7460DN. It is really full featured with a fax, scanner, copier with auto-feeder) and duplexing. On top of that it has your standard stuff like an adjustable paper tray manual feeder, etc… It prints up to 27PPM. The printer is geared for small offices and home offices.

I suspect that, at this insane price, these printers are going to sell out stupid fast so pick up one (or five?) right now! Go! No, don’t stand around waiting! Get out of here (and then come right back for more deals!).

Seagate GoFlex Desk Kit 2TB External Hard Drive $110 & Free Shipping @ Newegg.ca

Posted by on June 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM

Seagate GoFlex Desk Kit 2TB External Hard Drive $110 & Free Shipping @ Newegg.ca

Need some extra storage for the computer? Check out this deal from Newegg.ca, part of their Canada day sale. You can get the Seagate Freeagent GoFlex Desk 2TB system for only $109.99, with free shipping too.

When you work it out, you’re only paying about $0.05 per GB – dead cheap. 2TB is a pretty big amount of space, it should be ample for home users. As I have mentioned countless times in the past, I highly recommend getting an external hard drive and making some backups of your precious photos.

I watched the little video on the Newegg page, as I was curious why this item was called a “desk kit.” Basically, it’s just an external hard drive, but you can actually switch out the interfaces to be compatible with different devices if you need it. It comes with a USB3 connection, but you can actually purchase an USB2 or firewire connection separately, if you need it (the average home user wouldn’t need to worry about this). I did find that an interesting feature.

Newegg Canada: Fire up your summer with amazing deals Rosewill Peripherals

Newegg Canada has a summer savings event happening. Whether you need to repair or upgrade many electronic parts can be found here.

You might even find a deal on a new item to replace the one needing parts. The Brother professional series MFC-J6710DW inkjet all in one printer, has dual paper trays, can duplex print, and even prints on 11 inch x 17 inch paper. It was $319.99, now $209.99. That’s a savings of $110. Shipping costs $9.99

Rosewill Peripherals are giving a super savings of up to 65% instantly. Here are just 4 of the 15 items.

I’m learning much more about computers and their components while reviewing deals for the Bargainmoosers. Newegg Canada appears to have more than enough items of different brands to supply parts for almost every repair.

Have you ever created your own computer from parts? Sounds like a fun challenge, although beyond my current understanding.

Newegg.ca: Refurb Barnes & Noble Nook Touch eReader $69.99

Posted by on June 5, 2012 at 6:30 PM

Newegg.ca: Refurb Barnes & Noble Nook Touch eReader $69.99

Newegg.ca is offering refurbished Barnes & Noble Simple Touch eReader for $69.99 (regular price $99.99).

    Terms:

Limit of 15 per customer while supplies last.

I was trying to price compare the Barnes & Noble NOOK Simple Touch to try and see how good a deal this was, but I found it difficult as not many places are selling this device. I found it at shopereaders.com for $120, compared to $139US at Barnes&Noble, but they were brand new. From the looks of it, it’s a similar device to the Kobo reader, which I found at BestBuy.ca for $99.99.

    Features:

    • 6 inch screen
    • 2GB Flash
    • Touch screen
    • Limited 30 day warranty on parts and labour

You might want to check out some of their accessories as well, like this Rosewill Headphone set.

If you’re new to eBooks, this deal could be a good one to get you started.

    Free Shipping too!
