MBNA Sony Mastercard: Extra 10,000 Sony Points ($100 Value) (Expired)

MBNA has a Sony MasterCard promotion that gives you 10,000 points worth $100 after you spend $1,000 in eligible purchases by June 30th, 2014.

There is NO annual fee for this credit card. The Sony Card earning system works like this:

  • 2 points per $1 spent on eligible purchases at SonyStyle.ca and in Sony stores
  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other eligible purchases
  • 10,000 BONUS points after $1,000 of eligible purchases with your Sony Card
  • BONUS points on every $1 spent on eligible purchase using your card at SonyStyle.ca and in Sony stores during special bonus point events

You must apply for your credit card by the 31st of March 2014 to be eligible for the bonus Sony points.

Your 10,000 Sony Points you can redeem on purchases at The Sony Store online. Use your $100 worth of points to get half off the PS Vita (Wi-fi) from Sony. If you are eying up the new PS4 you could also apply your points to get $100 off that new gaming console when it is back in stock.

Now, credit cards are best if you don’t abuse them. Always pay them off in time and never incur interest charges. That way you can borrow without any penalty and in many ways make money off your credit card. That is the smart way to use a credit card.

MBNA Sony Mastercard: Extra 10,000 Sony Points ($100 Value) – NOW EXPIRED

MBNA Sony Mastercard: Extra 10,000 Sony Points ($100 Value) NOW EXPIRED

MBNA has a Sony MasterCard promotion which gives you 10,000 points (instead of 2,000) after you spend $400 in eligible purchases by January 15, 2014. That is a $100 value!

There is NO annual fee for this credit card. The Sony Card earning system:

  • 2 points per $1 spent on eligible purchases at SonyStyle.ca and in Sony stores
  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other eligible purchases
  • 10,000 BONUS points after $400 of eligible purchases with your Sony Card
  • BONUS points on every $1 spent on eligible purchase using your card at SonyStyle.ca and in Sony stores during special bonus point events

Cardholders will also have a chance to win a Sony PlayStation4! It looks like successful applicants will be entered into a PS4 draw.

With the points, you can redeem them for lots of great stuff online at The Sony Store. The 10,000 points can be redeemed for $100 towards any purchase at Sony Canada. I have a Sony camera that I would love to get a new lens for and maybe an external flash. I know that $100 towards a new lens would go a good way. This offer is only available to new Sony Card credit card holders, or existing cardholders who qualify for an additional account.

Now, I know tons of people are against credit cards but I think they have their use. For one, it is nearly impossible to shop online these days without a credit card. Not every company accepts debit or Paypal. Also, if you always pay off your credit card (no interest) and get a no-fee credit card you can actually make money off of your credit card.

MBNA Smart Cash Mastercard: 5% Cash Back on Qualifying Purchases for 6 Months

MBNA Smart Cash Mastercard: 5% Cash Back on Qualifying Purchases for 6 Months

There’s nothing like getting money just for spending money! Do exactly that with MBNA’s Smart Cash MasterCard.

Before I say anything else I want to point out that credit cards can be dangerous. It’s easy to get in way over your head with credit card debt so only get a credit card if you’re responsible enough to manage it.

But if you are going to get a credit card, you might as well get a cash back card. I have one and it’s great. I almost never use it but I should probably start using it. I get more cash back on gas and food so even if I started using it just for that I’d probably get more. MBNA has a deal right now that lets you get 5% cash back on eligible grocery and gas purchases for the first six months. After that you get 2% on gas and groceries and 1% on everything else. You also get 1.99% interest on balance transfers and deposits for the first ten months.

I did some quick calculations and based on my average gas and grocery expenditure I could make $300 using this card! If you have multiple cars, long commutes, big families, etc., you can get even more. If you’re really disciplined and you always pay off your balance before they charge you interest you can make a good chunk of money off of this thing. They send you a cheque any time your balance gets over $50.

MBNA Canada: Best Western Rewards MasterCard (Expired)

MBNA Canada: Best Western Rewards MasterCard (Expired)

If you need a credit card, you might as well get free stays at a Best Western while you’re at it! But how do you obtain this without using some sort of wizard voodoo magic? Why, MBNA and Bargainmoose, of course!

…or you could use wizard voodoo magic. Your call.

First thing I have to say is that if you can live without a credit card, please do. I got in a lot of trouble personally with a Credit Card and just recently got out of trouble with it. If you need one, keep the limit as low as is humanly possible. Remember, they need you, you do not need them. Make sure you read the contract before you sign up.

That warning aside, a lot of people need a credit card and this is a great one to get. I work for a competing hospitality company and I know with my points I bought myself a PS3. That’s what a lot of people don’t realize, I think. these hotel rewards aren’t just for more hotel stays. You can get airline travel, gas, meals at restaurants and my favorite, gift cards. I have people who work with me who have helped buy decks, ride on lawnmowers and any number of other products using their points. Now the points we have aren’t Best Western, of course, but it’s the same idea.

I was going to write up all the benefits but MBNA’s PR shills did a pretty good job all on their own so here we go:

  • Earn Best Western Rewards points for your everyday expenses
  • Receive 20,000 bonus Best Western Rewards points after your first qualifying purchase
  • Earn 1.5 Best Western Rewards points for every $1 in net retail purchases
  • Receive 50 Best Western Rewards points for every cash advance transaction over $50
  • Receive a one tier elite status upgrade within the Best Western Rewards program when you spend $6,000 on your card within one year
  • Earn even more Best Western Rewards points by staying at Best Western hotels or spending with our retail partner

(Expires: Unknown, probably not for a long, long time)

MBNA Canada: Sony Google TV Just for Using Your New Sony Mastercard

MBNA Canada: Sony Google TV Just for Using Your New Sony Mastercard

Anyone need a new credit card? If so, you might as well get a free Google TV when you get your new one. What? You don’t have one yet? Well, if you are in the market for a new card, why not make it this one?

I played up the credit card thing in the first paragraph there but I feel like I should caution you about credit cards. We are a money saving website and getting a credit card is NOT a good way to save money. Trust me on this, I had to do some pretty drastic stuff to get me out of debt and a credit card was a bit part of that debt. If I had been smart and either never gotten a CC or kept a super low limit, I would never have gotten into the mess I was in.

From here on out I’m going to talk about how great this credit card is, but just remember my warning and please be smart about this.

The special promo for the launch of this card is actually pretty cool. If you make $150 in qualifying retail purchases before 30th October 2012 you get a Sony Internet Player with Google TV. Nothing wrong with that, right?

These are the benefits of the Sony MasterCard. It seems like if you are a Sony die hard fanboy then this is the card for you.

  • Earn Sony Points on qualifying net retail purchases made using your Sony Card MasterCard
  • Get 2,000 Sony Points after your first qualifying transaction
  • Earn Double Sony Points with every qualifying net retail purchase of Sony products at SonyStyle.ca or the Sony store/ Maison Sony
  • Redeem Sony Points toward any Sony product at SonyStyle.ca
  • Browse through the complete SonyStyle.ca catalogue including PlayStation Games, VAIO Wireless Notebooks, BRAVIA LCD Televisions, MP3 Walkman Digital Music Players, movies, software, media and so much more!
  • Enhanced security and protection with Chip & PIN technology and PayPass

MBNA: Earn Up to 35,000 Bonus More Rewards Points With More Credit Card

So I never like to encourage people to have credit cards after I have seen how family and friends of mine have abused theirs. However, since being on my own I have learned that if you choose the right credit card it can work for you, instead of against you. Save-On-Foods has teamed up with MBNA to offer you a credit card with NO ANNUAL FEE, and a bonus 35,000 More Points.

Why this deal is a deal:

  • There is NO annual fee
  • You get 25,000 rewards on your first qualifying purchase

You also get a bonus 10,000 rewards if you spend $3,500 CAN in the first 6 months.

Terms:

Earn 3 points for every $1 in qualifying net retail purchases everywhere you shop using your More Rewards credit card.  Earn up to 4 points for every $1 in qualifying net retail purchases when you shop at Save-On-Foods, Overwaite Foods, Cooper’s Foods, PriceSmart Foods or Urban Fare stores using your More Rewards credit card and Save-On-More loyalty card together

Remember: Credit cards can work for you if you follow a few basic rules:

  • Never use your card to pay for stuff you can’t afford
  • Always pay off your entire credit card each month to avoid interest charges

I was just at Save-On-Foods like 20 minutes ago loading up on some sale treats. They have a whole bunch of opportunities to spend points and get things for free. Or you can save your points and get things from their catalogue.

Expires: 2nd, June 2012
