Zinio Canada: 2-Yr Magazine Subscription For The Price Of 1-Yr (Cosmopolitan, O, PC World & More!)

Zinio Canada: 2 Yr Magazine Subscription For The Price Of 1 Yr (Cosmopolitan, O, PC World & More!)

Here’s a Valentine’s Day gift idea that keep on giving: get a 2-year subscription to select magazines at Zinio for the price of 1 year!

With a total of 78 different magazines to choose from, here are just some of the ones that stood out to me:

  • Cosmopolitan
  • Harper’s Bazaar
  • Food Network Magazine
  • Macworld
  • O: The Oprah Magazine
  • Good Housekeeping
  • Elle
  • Photography Week
  • Women’s Health
  • Cooking Light
  • Men’s Health
  • Parenting

There are also a couple of travel, geeky, commercial, home and other magazines that I would say are more niche-specific. For instance, Scootering is in there, covering all things related to scooters but this one definitely wouldn’t apply to everyone.

Prices vary per magazine but to give you an idea, Cosmopolitan is $22.92 for a two-year subscription with 26 issues, which comes down to just $0.88 per issue. These are digital copies, of course, but considering a print edition of this popular magazine typically runs for close to $6, then paying less a dollar is definitely a steal of a deal.

If you are unfamiliar with how to read the magazines, it’s super easy. You can either browse the magazine from an iOS or Android device (this includes both smart phones and tablets) or you can use the desktop reader to view it from the comfort of your desktop or laptop.

This is definitely a great Valentine’s Day gift idea, especially since the subscription will be good for two years and your loved one won’t have to worry about resubscribing for a while. Plus, there are plenty of diverse magazines to choose from to cater to most interests.

Another magazine that I didn’t mention above but that could be an interesting choice is Geek. It covers a wide array of trending topics pertaining to lifestyle, film, music, comic books and more. To give you an idea, the current May-June 2015 cover is that of Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s priced at $16.29 for 12 issues.

There is absolutely no mention as to when this promotion might expire, so if I were you, I wouldn’t wait to take advantage of it if there is a magazine that you particularly want to subscribe to.

Free Stickers, Magazine & Comic Books @ PETA Kids Canada

Free Stickers, Magazine & Comic Books @ PETA Kids Canada

PETA wants to put a spotlight on kids with some free items. If your little one loves stickers, comic books or magazines, then complete the quick form to have some freebies sent to you from PETA Canada. These free items are a great way to educate your child about animal rights.

The PETA stickers for kids are so cute. These are a cool way to spread the word about animal rights. I really like the sticker with the baby chick on it that says, “I am not a nugget”. While I do enjoy my bacon, I totally dig these stickers too.

You can also get four free comics from PETA Kids’ Canada. These comics include: A Dog’s Life, A Cow’s Life, A Rat’s Life and A Chicken’s Life. The description says that these books will teach children about testing labs, where leather comes from and more. If I were you, I would take a good look at these books before handing them over to your child. Just to make sure they are not depressing.

Last but not least, there is a free Kids’ Guide to Helping Animals magazine. This PETA magazine will help your child learn how to be a hero for animals. Inside the magazine you will find tips on topics like protecting wildlife as well as cruelty free products. There is also an inside scoop on which Hollywood celebrities are helping animals and why. You will even find puzzles, stickers and quizzes inside this guide.

I also found a lot of other interested features on the PETA Kids website. They have an easy vegan cupcake recipe, an article about why indoor cats are the happiest cats, sweet vegan treats and more. While I personally do not wish to become a vegan, these articles and recipes still appeal to me.

I ordered this freebie for myself anyway, the stickers are so cute I couldn’t resist. We will have to wait and see what the books and guide are like before I read them to my son. What about you, did you order this freebie?

Zinio Canada: 5 Issues Of Amateur Photographer For $7.45

Posted by on December 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Zinio Canada: 5 Issues Of Amateur Photographer For $7.45

Amateur Photographer is a specialist magazine containing photography news, events, tips & techniques, darkroom advice, equipment tests, and more. And just now, there’s a special offer on a digital subscription, via the magazine service, You can subscribe to five issues of this magazine for only $7.45 – that’s $1.49 per issue.

If you are buying one issue alone through Zinio, the cover price is $5.95, so $7.45 for 5 issues is really excellent. It’s hard for me to properly price compare this deal as I am not out at the store looking at a newsstand right now. But I had a look online and I can see that on the iTunes app store, each issue of this magazine would be $2.99 to buy, standalone. And Margarita found a site online showing that the magazine is £3.75 in the UK to buy in-store, which translates to about $6.80 per issue!

If you’re not sure what the technical specification of your device needs to be, or what devices you can use Zinio on, please have a read of their help pages. We want to make sure that you don’t buy something you cannot use. But you should be able to use this Zinio subscription on various iPads and Android tablets.

If anyone got a new digital SLR camera for Christmas, this magazine would be a great read. I got my first DSLR about 3 years ago, for a Christmas gift. I will admit that I did not know much about photography at all… basically I just pointed and clicked. Shortly after, I subscribed to a photography magazine… it wasn’t Amateur Photographer, but I cannot remember exactly which one it was.

Anyway, I found that much of the magazine’s content was quite technical and a little out of my potentiality. But, I did find that the magazine taught me quite a lot of basic photography principles which I still use to this very day. For example: the rule of thirds. I hadn’t heard of that before. When composing a photograph (particularly in landscape photography), it’s a guideline about breaking up your photo with the horizon, so your landscape shows in thirds. I’ve used this rule many times in taking excellent landscape shots.

I’ve picked up many more tips from the subscription that I had… I recommend you do the same. Zinio Canada: 5 Issues Of Amateur Photographer For $7.45

WagJag Canada: $26 For One-Year OwlKids Subscription

Posted by on November 30, 2014 at 9:30 AM

WagJag Canada: $26 For One Year OwlKids Subscription

This Cyber Weekend, WagJag has a great deal on an OwlKids subscription. While it says the regular price is $59, that would be the cost if you bought each magazine individually from the newsstand. The one-year subscription rate for these magazines is actually $34.95 plus tax. WagJag has it on for $29, but if you also use the our exclusive promo code, you’ll get another 15% off, making your total for a one-year subscription only $26.10.

You have your choice of magazines and you can get all three. I’ve actually subscribed to all three of these magazines at one time, and I’m going to get each as a gift for my kids, as they all love to read and they love to get their own mail. At this low price, why not?

The first is Chirp, which is aimed at kids aged 3-6. It has lots of fun things to do, stories, craft ideas and my kids loved this when they were younger. I saved all of my copies for reference so we can do the crafts or recipes we didn’t have time to do.

The second is chickaDee, which is for children aged 6-9. It is similar to Chirp, but for an older audience who might read it themselves.

Owl is aimed at kids aged 9-13 and has the stuff that tweens love like technology, pop culture, hard puzzles in a lively format. Writing this, I realized I now have a tween. A little frightened, I must admit.

All subscriptions include shipping and taxes and there are no additional fees. You can buy as many subscriptions as you want, so if you have special kids that live away from you and you can’t get to them to get them a gift, this is an amazing idea. My mother-in-law actually did this one year for the kids and every month (well there are 10 issues), when the magazine came, they remembered who had gotten them the subscription.

Before you shop this weekend/week, be sure to check out our Cyber Monday dashboards for all the hottest deals. You’ll also want to check out WagJag‘s coupon page, with some hot coupon codes to add to your already hot deals.

Next Issue Coupon Code: Exclusive 20% Off 3 Months

Next Issue Coupon Code: Exclusive 20% Off 3 Months

I scored an exclusive so hot, it sizzles! This is actually one of the first coupons that has come from Next Issue, so I find this very exciting. Get 20% off your first three months subscription with Next Issue with exclusive promo code. You can also take advantage of your first 30 days free, so you’ll basically be getting four months for a low price.

Click here to get reading @ now

  • Coupon Code: MOOSE
  • Discount: 20% off three months
  • Expiry: 31st October 2014

I think I’m going to bite this time. I’ve been wanting to get Next Issue for quite a while as I’m an avid magazine reader. I’ve been known to have over ten subscriptions at any one time, but I’ve let most of those lapse. I do love the feel of paper and the ability to rip out articles and recipes that interest me (although my husband does not love this ability as paper is scattered all over my house). But, it really isn’t cost-effective. I spend many evenings on my tablet, so why not read my magazines on the tablet? This way as well, I’ll have access to way more magazines than I could ever dream of subscribing to. It also doesn’t mean I can’t subscribe to my favourites, it just means I have more choice electronically.

There are two plans available with Next Issue. The first is the basic magazines, which are monthlies and there are 130 magazines you can read. The second is the premium package with 141 magazines, but they include weeklies, so you’ll be getting them more often. The first package is $9.99 a month and the second is $14.99 a month. With our coupon code, you’ll save $2 a month on the basic and $3 a month on the premium. The best deal for me is the premium as I enjoy reading weeklies, especially Macleans, which I use to keep up to date on the news. I think I’d also enjoy reading People. But, my favourite magazine that is on the basic list is Bon Appetit. The recipes are just stunning.

A recent discovery of a magazine that I found is HGTV magazine, which has so many great ideas for the home and is quite a large magazine. The cover price is a little expensive, so getting it for almost the cover price along with a number of other magazines is really a steal.

Keep checking back for new Next Issue coupon codes in the forum, and remember that this one doesn’t expire until Halloween. It would make a great gift for someone you love as well.

National Geographic Traveler Digital Only $10 Per Year

Posted by on August 10, 2014 at 8:30 AM

National Geographic Traveler Digital Only $10 Per Year

National Geographic is offering a digital subscription to their National Geographic Traveler Magazine for only $10 per year.

The digital package is the same price for Canadians, in our own currency, as it is for Americans in their currency.

This subscription includes the iPad version. I price compared this offer with Zinio as they are the leading magazine subscription service that I know about. They offer the National Geographic Traveler yearly subscription for $17.95 a year plus taxes. You will have to pay taxes going directly through National Geographic as well, but their subscription is approximately $8 cheaper. A cheaper subscription also means fewer taxes.

There are two other options when you click through the link, and though they look provocative, the subscriptions cost more for Canadians. You can pick up a yearly subscription in print for $17.95, which is the same price of the digital subscription from Zinio. There is also a Print Plus edition that comes with the iPad digital version and a printed copy of the National Geographic Traveler delivered to your door eight times a year. The Print Plus option costs $24.95 a year for us lovely people north of the border.

There are eight issues per year. If you purchase the digital subscription, that is just $1.25 per issue. You could never pick up a National Geographic magazine on a shelf at Chapters for that price.

This deal has a lot of personal appeal to me. I love to travel and am always looking for amazing architectural and archeological places to visit. Searching the internet for this kind of thing is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. However, National Geographic has years of experience traveling around the planet. I would love to see the planet through their eyes and use their experience and amazing photos to guide my next vacation. Daniel’s and my first major vacation together was guided by the BBC’s documentary Earth: A Biography, specifically the volcanoes episode. We went to Rotorua in New Zealand, which is one of the most volcanically active areas on the surface of the planet. Our trip to Iceland was also guided by the same documentary, as it is the one place on earth you can see the split in the earth’s crust rise above the ocean. I think that vacations guided by geographical knowledge are the best.

Where are you heading for your next vacation?

August 6 STAR Electronic Magazine Subscription 25% off!

Posted by on August 6, 2014 at 11:30 AM STAR Electronic Magazine Subscription 25% off!

Is there anything better than curling up under a tree, watching the kids play, with a nice magazine?  How about if you don’t even have to carry a magazine around, and can access it on your favourite electronic device?  Here’s a deal to help you kick back and relax: Get STAR magazine at 25% off as part of’s sale of over 150 titles at up to 50% off!

Is there anything better than a weekly dose of celebrity gossip?  It is the perfect diversion for me while the kids are running around the yard or the park.  I find magazines really nice because as much as I love a good book, they are hard to put down and pick up over and over.  Magazines offer such short articles that I can drop it in an instant to join the kids in the sandbox and pick it up no problem again afterwards.  I really enjoy the world of electronic magazines, meaning I don’t actually have to remember to bring the magazine with me while I’m rushing out of the house.  Just download the free app on your Apple, Android, or WIN8 device and you’re ready to read.  Another HUGE benefit for me is that there is no physical magazine to discard when I’m done reading.  I tend to be a bit of a magazine hoarder and that gets out of control pretty quickly.  Thank goodness to Zinio for saving me from myself.

STAR was my top pick from this sale because it comes weekly meaning I am less likely to run out of reading material, and covers all aspects of entertainment.  Zinio is currently offering 52 issues of STAR for $16.40 (reg. $21.87), which works out to only $0.32 per issue!  That is a totally unbeatable price.

Just for comparison’s sake, to get a paper copy of this magazine delivered to you through you’re looking at $90.49 for the year.  Subscribing directly through will cost you $34.84.

Zinio offers continuous service so you will never miss an issue, and will be notified and billed automatically at the end of your subscription, although you can cancel the continuous service at any time.

Some other great titles available at up to 50% off from Zinio right now are OK! Magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Cosmopolitan.

This deal is on until the end of the month.  Happy reading!

National Geographic: Digital Subscription – Just $15

Posted by on July 23, 2014 at 10:30 PM

National Geographic: Digital Subscription Just $15

National Geographic is offering Digital Subscriptions to their monthly magazine for just $15 CAN a year.

The subscription includes Digital editions for iPad, iPhone, Kindle Fire and the Online Archive. This offer is available for new orders only, not for renewals. A one-year subscription includes twelve monthly issues, which works out to $1.25 an issue. Not only do you get twelve months worth of new material, you also have access to over 125 years worth of National Geographic archives. I cannot even fathom how much time I could spend going through those archives reading articles, looking at pictures, and learning so much about our planet and its history. With your subscription, you also receive a one-year membership to the National Geographic Society.

Through the link above, you can also receive deals on the print and print plus digital subscriptions. For Canadians, you can get a twelve-month National Geographic print subscription for $26. That works out to $2.17 a month, which is far below newsstand prices. The print only addition does not come with online access to the archives or to the digital versions, which have pictures that never appear in the print versions.

If you like to have access to both the Print and the Digital version so you can take full advantage of that archive, then the subscription rate is $32. That works out to $2.67 a month. For both the Print Only and the Print Plus subscriptions, allow 4-6 weeks for delivery of the first print edition issue.

I price compared the digital version with Zinio who had the subscription for $24. I tried price comparing with Kobo, but they do not have National Geographic as a magazine option.

There is only one magazine I want to subscribe to, and that is National Geographic. I absolutely love nature (as you can see by my budding BBC Earth collection), and their magazine has the best pictures and most informative articles. My father has a whole stack of National Geographic Magazines, from before I was born, sitting in his basement gathering dust. I plan to make pilgrimage back to my parents someday just to dig them up and read some of the old articles. I will never forget the yellow borders and the beautiful pictures I stared at as a child. i can’t wait to get my hands on the digital version for a year. Good-bye spare time.

Canadian taxes are calculated per provincial rate.

Kobo Books Canada: $0.99 Magazine Issues

Posted by on July 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Kobo Books Canada: $0.99 Magazine Issues

Kobo has a hot (sizzling even) deal on right now, where you can get one issue of a number of magazines for only $0.99. I love this deal because sometimes you just want some summer reading on the easy, and one issue is all you need. Paying less than $1 for an issue of a magazine is very sweet.

There are a number of magazines available for this promotion, and I’d like to pick up a few of them. I’m an avid magazine reader, although I still go the print way, but really I don’t know why. I can save so much money getting it on my tablet, plus save the environmental costs of printing it. Plus, I don’t have that extra clutter of the magazine lying around. I can also take my tablet with me and choose what I want to read, rather than a bulky magazine that I might forget (and always do). I don’t know how many times I’ve been at the park with my kids while they play wishing I had something to read instead of staring into nothingness.

Some of the ones I’d like to sink my teeth into include:

  • Cosmopolitan – you can’t beat this magazine for all the latest in sex and beauty
  • Oprah – pretty much my favourite mag
  • Real Simple – I love the recipes and organization tips
  • Self – great fitness and health and well-being articles
  • Esquire – while I wouldn’t need a subscription for this one for myself, I’d buy this issue just to hear Mark Wahlberg’s take on fatherhood

Bargainmoosers, what is your favourite magazine? Give me some ideas on what issues I need to get for $0.99, just in case the ones I’ve chosen aren’t enough!

Wagjag Canada: 1 Year GQ or Maxim Magazine Subscriptions Just $19

There is an awesome new deal of for all of our male Bargainmoose readers.  You can get either a 1 year subscription to Maxim or GQ magazine for just $19.

You will be able to choose from two different deals but both of them are the same price.

GQ Magazine:

If you were to buy each issue, you would be spending $72 a year instead of the low Wagjag offer of just $19.  That is a total savings of 74%, which is a great deal. They offer 12 issue a year and they are geared for men and they focus on everything from your clothing and hair styles, to fitness, gadgets and sex life.  It is a well rounded magazine for men that is both entertaining and useful. The actual name of it is Gentleman’s Quarterly and it has actually been around for over 50 years now.

Maxim Magazine:

This is a magazine that is the ultimate guy’s guide to women.  It focuses on entertainment, beautiful women, sports, style, beautiful women, cars, beautiful women, sex and more beautiful women. I can’t think of a man that would not love to get this as a gift just for the pictures in it alone! It has 10 issues per year and if you were to buy each issue without this deal, you would be spending a whopping $70 instead of just $19 with Wagjag.

Both deals will come in a voucher form and there will be no additional charges, such as shipping or taxes. You will be able to purchase one voucher per household and up to 5 vouchers for gifts. I know my husband would love to get either of these subscriptions as a gift so I may get him the GQ one.  I actually like to read it as well sometimes so it would get a lot of use out of it.

Zinio Canada: 2 Years For the Price of 1 On Bestselling Magazines

If your Mom likes to read, a super Mother’s Day gift for her would be a new magazine subscription. Get two years of some top magazines for the price of one year. Also, Zinio is offering $5 magazine subscriptions just for moms.

One of my favourite indulgences is sitting on my porch and reading a magazine from cover to cover. I love getting magazines right into my mailbox and get giddy on the days they come. I have a number of subscriptions, but there are more that I’d love to get. I love that I can get two years for the price of one as it saves me the trouble of renewing next year.

Saveur is one of my most favourite magazines with delicious recipes and stories of food from all around the world. Reading this magazine my mouth actually salivates and makes me want to cook or travel. It is so well-written too that it makes me wish I was a food writer. You’ll get two years (18 issues) for only $22.10, which is pretty amazing as the newsstand price is about $6 an issue.

If you are looking for some great ideas for mom and don’t have a lot to spend, how about spending $5.53 for 10 issues of More, which is a magazine for women 40+. I actually get this magazine even though I’m in my 30s and I find it very informative. 12 issues of Today’s Parent for $5.53 is also quite the steal! This Canadian magazine has all the information you need to be a Canadian parent including advice, craft ideas and uniquely Canadian events.

Shipping is always included in your subscription price.

I always love a good magazine deal at WagJag but this one is a really great one. You can get a one year Chatelaine subscription, a free spring tote and a free $10 gift card to Chapters Indigo for just $25.

The free $10 Chapters Indigo gift card has no expiry date on it so you can save it for whenever you want to use it.  The Spring tote is a pretty pink striped tote that would be perfect for the beach.  Lastly, the 1 year Chatelaine subscription is both in print and digital so you can read your issues anywhere you want to!  The value of this entire deal is $50 so you will be saving a whopping 50% through WagJag Canada.

If you are unfamiliar with Chatelaine, you will get 12 issues in total over the year.  It offers fresh & modern recipes, entertaining ideas and menu planning tips, fun home projects and simple cluster-busting solutions and has a ton of fashion advice for women. It is a well rounded woman magazine.

You will have until May 17th 2014 to use this voucher and you buy one for yourself or as many as you would like for gifts. Something like this would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift. It looks like you spent so much money but it was just $25.

Additionally, you will also get free shipping and the taxes are included so there will be no hidden fees or costs added on.

It doesn’t say how long it will take for your first issue to be delivered but it is usually 4-8 weeks after you redeem your voucher and the deal expires.

Zinio has a wide selection of magazines available, so there really is something for everyone. I used to get about 10 subscriptions a month, but was finding no time to read them all, so I basically didn’t renew any of my subscriptions. Now, I have nothing to read and I really would love a new subscription to something. There is just something about sitting back on the couch and devouring a magazine from cover to cover. That is probably one of my favourite me time activities.

This offer can’t be used with PayPal orders or combined with any other offer either. One frustrating aspect about this site is that you can’t see how much your actual subscription will be until you’ve entered in your credit card information. That is very off-putting for me.

One magazine I’d love to start getting is Shape magazine. I love reading the articles about weight loss and discovering new exercises. It is $19.87 for 12 issues, but with the promo code, it would be $11.92.

I absolutely love Clean Eating magazine and I’m actually following their meal plan right now, which is great because it gives you simple ideas for snacks and you want to follow it simply because it is so easy. It is normally $27.63 for 8 issues, but you’ll pay only $16.58! That’s only $2 an issue. I usually buy in-store because I haven’t gotten around to getting a subscription and pay about $7 an issue I think.

Shipping is included. Don’t forget to check out Zinio in the Bargainmoose forum and find more coupons as they pop up.
