Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Boxing Day Sale

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Boxing Day Sale

Kobobooks Canada has launched their Boxing Day sale early. Get up to 70% off books, up to 50% off indie fiction, and up to 30% off select magazine subscriptions.

In the 70% off section you can get deals on books like Bone and Bread which was $18.95 and is now on sale for $4.99. There are a lot of non-fiction, fiction, mystery, romance, and award winning books on sale for 70% off so if ebooks are on your wishlist – check out this sale.

Another feature of Kobo’s Boxing Day sale is the 50% off indie fiction with the coupon code 50COUPON. Indie novels are usually pretty cheap (the most expensive generally around $5.99) so this coupon will give you plenty of new reads for a very low price!

The really big deal I think in all of this is up to 30% off select annual magazine subscriptions! Kobobooks rarely offers any magazine deals so I am pretty pleased about this one. Popular Science is just $10.49 for a year subscription to the famous magazine. Even with this magazine being on sale at Zinio as well – Zinio’s price (once converted to CAN) is a couple dollars more. The magazines are already discounted and Kobo is not showing the original subscription prices right now but from what I have seen these prices are pretty good. I always suggest price comparing to make sure though.

Next Issue Canada: Free 60 Day Trial (Expired)

Posted by on December 12, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Next Issue Canada: Free 60 Day Trial (Expired)

Get unlimited digital access to over 100 of the top magazines in Canada and the U.S. with Next Issue’s free 60-day trial.

I am a regular magazine reader and yesterday while reading my Maclean’s magazine, I read about Next Issue. Maclean’s is one of the magazines that will featured on this service. Basically you’ll get unlimited access to over 100 top magazines for a low monthly price and you can start with a free 60-day trial. While I am a paper junkie, and have resisted any and all attempts to switch to digital reading, this is intriguing me. I spend a bucket of money on magazine subscriptions. Even when I get deals and pay yearly, lets say I get one magazine for $15 and another for $35 and another for $50. That is only three magazines and I’m paying $100 a year for those three. I subscribe to about ten magazines and that is only because I can’t afford any more.

They are calling Next Issue the Netflix of magazines, but they say it is better because everything is updated now. You’ll get everything that is current and won’t have to wait for it. The best part for me is when I am behind on my reading, the back issues are still there, just like they are at home. Obviously this service also cuts down on the paper waste that is so bad for the environment. If you think they won’t have any good magazines, they had every one that I subscribe to available including Today’s Parent, Oprah, Real Simple, Woman’s Health, Bon Appetit, Consumer Reports, Forbes, Golf Digest and on and on.

I was considering asking Santa for a tablet for Christmas then waned on it, well now I need one for this service! There are two plans – basic, which gives unlimited access to monthly magazines for $9.99 a month and premium, which gives unlimited access to monthly and weekly magazines for $14.99. I’m going to start the free trial and see how it goes before I decide if I want to subscribe, but I think I’m going to want to!

Bloomberg BusinessWeek: 50 issues for $40 (84% off)

Posted by on October 28, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Bloomberg BusinessWeek: 50 issues for $40 (84% off)

Want to know what’s happening in the business world? Do it for less than $1 a week with Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

You ever see a movie where some exec has his computer on his desk and a second one just kind of sitting there – usually on the hutch behind him or a table in the corner? That’s probably a Bloomberg terminal. If he’s (or she’s) watching TV, it might be on Bloomberg TV. When they hop in a car maybe they’re listening to Bloomberg Radio. And the magazine they’re thumbing through at breakfast could be a copy of Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Why so much Bloomberg? Because Bloomberg knows the business world. Bloomberg L.P. (the company who publishes BusinessWeek) is owned by Michael Bloomberg and that guy, well, that guy knows business. He has about $31 billion hanging around and is sitting at 13th place on the list of the worlds richest people. So if there is a magazine that knows what is happening in the business world, it’s Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Right now you can get 46 Issues for $40 plus four free bonus issues so all said and done you get 50 issues. That’s 80 cents per issue, delivered to your door. Not bad.

On a side note, just say Bloomberg BusinessWeek like Droopy Dog. It makes life better.

Rogers Magazines Canada: Gift Subscriptions As Low As $12

If you are a Rogers customer, you probably already know about the great monthly deals they have on magazines. I am a Rogers customers and take advantage of paying a very low monthly rate on my Rogers magazines subscriptions. I just realized that you can give gift subscriptions for the same low rate, but pay in full for a year.

Rogers has some great magazine choices in every genre. I get Macleans to keep up on local and world events. I love Feschuk and would get the magazine just for him! You only pay $3.50 a month, but if you get it as a gift subscription, it is $42 for the year in one payment. This is definitely a savings from the newsstand price. The regular subscription price is 22 issues for $26, making this a perfect deal and a perfect gift!

Other good deals on magazines include Today’s Parent and Chatelaine for only $12 for the year (I get both).

This deal gets even better. With your print subscription, you’ll get a free digital subscription too. On top of that, with every print subscription you buy, you’ll get the ebook Dinner In 30 by Chatelaine free!

Magazine subscriptions make awesome gift ideas!

Canadian Freebie: Free Subscription To Ingredients Etc. Magazine

Who doesn’t love a great freebie! Right now, you can sign up for a free Ingredients Etc. magazine with no purchase required. It took me less than 30 seconds to get mine!

All you have to do is enter your information and the free magazine subscription will be sent to your door.  You don’t need to worry about entering any credit card info like with some other offers.

These magazines are sometimes offered at some Sobeys stores, but often run out fast.  They include coupons (usually for dairy type foods), recipes, and articles on food and sometimes health benefits.  I love this magazine and get it whenever I see it.

It doesn’t actually say how many magazines you will get with this free subscription, but it uses the word “magazines” so I assume it is more than one, or monthly.

Truth be told, anyone can take advantage of this deal. However, to use your SPC you will often have to present student ID, so it is best to actually be a student. The SPC is valid until the end of July 2014, so there is plenty of time to enjoy it. It will give you 10% to 15% off discounts at many popular stores. You can check out the SPC perks here.

Zinio Canadian Freebie: 1 Year Subscription To Shape Magazine

Zinio Canadian Freebie: 1 Year Subscription To Shape Magazine

We love freebies! Who doesn’t? Right now, you can get this sweet one year (twelve issues) digital subscription to Shape Magazine for free! One whole year of tips on how to trim up, stay in shape, eat better, and live a healthier life!

No credit card info is required – just enter your name, email address, and physical address, and check that little box at the bottom saying you want to subscribe.

Now, a lot of girls and guys are magazine readers. Except for an occasional gander at National Geographic or Mac Life, I am generally not one of those. However, I also know how hard it is to get in shape without a personal trainer or a basement full of gym equipment. So, Shape Magazine could be a really good resource on tips, tricks, and hints on how to get fit faster and easier. Little things we have never even thought of, like squeeze half a lemon into warm water and drink that each morning, a tip I recently learned, but have been horrible at keeping up.

Best of all, it is free. Absolutely, totally, twelve months of free.
