NewEgg Canada: 50% Off LG Blu-Ray Burner – $50

NewEgg Canada: 50% Off LG Blu Ray Burner $50

Get an LG Blu-Ray burner for only $49.99 from NewEgg Canada!

How insane is this? There were tons of people who laid out hundreds of dollars for a PS3 because it was the cheapest BluRay player available. Hundreds of dollars just for a player. Now, we get a BluRay burner for only $49.99. Why so cheap? Well, there is a new version of this BluRay burner, so this model has been discontinued. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad item, it just means that they need to get them out of their warehouse to make room for the newer model.

This model features:

  • Max 14x BD-R writing speed
  • Supports BDXL (128GB) discs
  • SATA interface
  • 3D Blu-ray title playback & M-disc support

The only thing I can see that the newer version has is 16x BD-R write vs the 14x of this model. The new one costs almost $120. For a $70 savings, I’d take a slightly slower burn speed. Now, maybe there is something else that the new one has, but nothing that I can see. Regardless, it would take a whole bunch to get me to pay $70 more.

Shipping is $9.99 which is unfortunate, but considering you’re saving $50 (or $70, depending) on this, it isn’t too bad!

And just on a side note, the best place to get blank media in Canada is, fittingly enough, BlankMedia.ca. Check them out. They are awesome and their Taiyo Yuden branded media has a fantastic cost/quality number.

Dell Canada: Up to 50% Off Home Entertainment Sale

Dell Canada is hosting a home entertainment sale with up to 50% off TVs, speaker systems, cables, and more.

When I think entertainment, I think televisions. My mind is also on the TV because my parents recently asked me to keep an eye out for a good deal for them as they are wanting to upgrade from their old ‘TV with a back-end’ to a flat-screen. There are several nice TV deals at Dell right now depending on what you are looking for:

Of course no home theater system is complete without a great sound system, and these two look to be the best deals:

There are many other things in this sale, so be sure to check it out.

As always, get free shipping with Dell.

Dell Canada: 50% Off LG 42 inch LED Smart TV Now $499.99

Today is another day of Dell Canada’s Twelve Days of Deals. The huge deal of today is this LG 42-inch LED Smart TV – LS5700 1080p 120Hz TV for 50% off, originally $999.99, it is on sale for $499.99.

The LG LS5700 42″ LED TV is a full HD TV (1080p) with more packed into it. It comes with a unique remote control, networking capabilities, is wifi ready, a Magic Remote Control, Smart Share Network File Browsing, and more. One of the great uses for this TV identified by users was for browsing the internet.

About:

The LG®LS5700 Smart TV with Full HD 1080p, TruMotion 120Hz, LED HD gives you limitless entertainment and stunning pictures. LG Smart TV provides an intuitive, easy way to access thousands of movies, customizable apps and games all organized in a simple-to-use interface.

With LG’s innovative Magic Remote you point and click on what you want to watch. It’s that simple! Experience this and more with LG’s Smart TV. It organizes your home entertainment on one simple interface. Browse and share files from external storage devices to your TV screen, or access files from your PC, tablet or smartphone via Wi-Fi® with LG Smart Share. This is what home entertainment is all about.

I tried price comparing, but this TV wasn’t easy to find elsewhere in Canada. I found it several places in the USA starting around $700 on sale – but border fees and shipping would jack the price up substantially.

Check out more One day deals at Dell Canada.

NewEgg.ca: 33% off 42″ LG Smart LCD HDTV (Pay $800) + FREE Shipping + More LG Deals

NewEgg.ca: 33% off 42 LG Smart LCD HDTV (Pay $800) + FREE Shipping + More LG Deals

LG and NewEgg Canada have paired up to bring you some great deals on some great products. They have everything from TVs to Blu-Ray Players to Sound Bars and almost all off them have free shipping.Today we’re focusing on an awesome HDTV with a steep 33% discount!

The TV normally costs $1199.99 but NewEgg is giving you $400 off so you’ll only pay $799.99. You also get free shipping and, as we’ll talk about in a second, four pairs of LGs gaming glasses.

Ok, so gaming glasses. Traditionally you play multiplayer console games in person with a split screen or on multiple TVs. That is fine but with the advent of 3D TVs, some smart people saw an opportunity. You both get to play full screen but with the glasses, you each see a different image. I tried explaining how they work here but it’s a bit too hard to do in a deal article. So suffice it to say, they work.

The TV itself has all the stuff you’d expect in a new LG HDTV. 1080p, 120Hz, 3D and LED back lighting. The Product image also shows four pairs of 3D glasses come with the TV but it doesn’t say that in the product description. I suspect they are included.

BONUS ROUND!!

NewEgg has a bunch of products on sale and all of them, except one Blu-Ray player, have free shipping. The Blu-Ray player only costs $5 to ship.

FactoryDirect.ca: Unlocked LG Eclypse Android Smartphone for $120 (Save $30)

FactoryDirect.ca: Unlocked LG Eclypse Android Smartphone for $120 (Save $30)

Get a smartphone without breaking the bank and without a contract!

Factory Direct Canada has this phone up for $120. It isn’t sold by many people anymore but I did find it elsewhere for $150 so you’re saving at least $30. I’m going to be honest with you guys. This is not a fantastic phone. I don’t want anyone to be under the illusion that they are going to get a top of the line device when they get this phone. It is a budget buy. So why would I post a deal on a device that isn’t that great? Well, let me tell you.

There are actually a lot of reasons to get a lower end smartphone. The obvious reason is that some people don’t have the money. I am often heard complaining that I am broke but, honestly, I’m not doing too bad. I pay $50 a month for a phone and I’ve locked myself into a contract that requires me to pay $50 a month for three years. For Christmas I’m getting a phone that will lock me into three more years of paying $50 a month. It’s a pain but I’ve decided to do it ecause I can afford to. There are people out there for whom this is not an option. They just cannot afford $50 a month. For those people, this is a great choice. You get a smartphone and you can just get a phone plan on it without data.

There are other reasons though. Maybe your kid wants a smartphone or perhaps a parent who isn’t super tech savvy. It could even be a backup phone. I know when my phone broke all they had for a loaner phone was a BlackBerry and it was already out on loan. It could also be an emergency phone to leave in the car or a spare that you don’t mind beating up when you go four-wheeling or hiking. Maybe you just don’t care about the latest and greatest. My wife is a perfect example. I bought her a crummy little LG Android Smartphone. Whenever I use it I get chest pains because it is so terrible but she doesn’t care in the least. All the fancy features don’t appeal to her. If it plays music, lets her text and plays games, she’s all set.
