Future Shop Canada: Lenovo Refurbished IdeaPad 15.6″ Laptop – $230 (Save $70)

Posted by on August 28, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Future Shop Canada: Lenovo Refurbished IdeaPad 15.6 Laptop $230 (Save $70)

If you really need a laptop but do not have a lot of money to spend, be sure to check out this deal on a Lenovo IdeaPad 15.6″ Laptop – Black (AMD E1-1200 / 320GB HDD / 2GB RAM / Windows 8) – Refurbished. It is on sale for $229.99 so you save $70.

The reviews on this laptop all make mention that the computer is slow, but most the reviews who get past the slow element say you are getting good value for what you pay. The slow issue is an easy fix as these reviewers recommend:

The first thing I did was buy another 4GB memory Simm for $33 and now it performs well for everything.

Little bit slow but i upgraded memory to 4gb. Now its running like i3.

Memory is pretty cheap (as you see a guy upgraded his for $33) and is a really easy fix to the one problem that people seem to find with this computer. Besides that, the computer gets good reviews on everything else and it is really loved for its price point. I found this Corsair 2GB DDR3 1333MHz Laptop Memory (CMSO2GX3M1A1333) – Web Only for only $24.99. It is PC laptop memory, but I would just double-check with Future Shop that it is compatible with the Lenovo IdeaPad.

Now, if you pay with Paypal you can get $10 back when you purchase this laptop, which is a pretty nice bonus. So, instead of paying $229.99 you would be paying $219.99 for a fully functioning laptop. If you did pick up some extra memory at the same time, your total would go over the $250 threshold in which case you would get $25 cash back!

Microsoft Store Canada: Up to $300 Off Windows 8 Computers

Posted by on June 4, 2013 at 9:00 PM

Microsoft Store Canada: Up to $300 Off Windows 8 Computers

HP. Asus, Lenovo, Samsung. Whatever you want, Microsoft has it and they have it for less!

There are some awesome computers at awesome prices here. There aren’t really any that I wouldn’t recommend so pick the one that you feel fits you the best!

The elephant in the room with this deal is the Windows 8 part so I’m going to address that up front. These are great computers and Windows 8 should not turn you off from buying them. I’ll explain why. There are a few things that people don’t like about Windows 8 but let’s tackle the big one: the start menu/button.

Instead of the start menu we now have the start screen which contains all of your programs. So the main difference is that before you had a menu that popped up and now it’s a whole screen. This is quite literally the stupidest complaint about Windows 8. I can’t even think of an argument that makes sense for why this is bad. Instead of opening a menu in the corner and launching programs, you open a new screen. That’s it. You can leave the screen with the click of a mouse or the push of a button just like you did with the old menu. It is functionally unchanged except you can’t see what’s on you’re screen while you’re looking in the start menu. I would submit to you that it is a very limited case for having to have your start menu open at the same time you are reading a website or watching a video. If you’ve opened your start menu, your focus will be there until you are done with it.

As far as the start button, you can just push the start key on your keyboard and, because you whined so much, Microsoft is releasing an update to put the start button back. If you are really so enraged about the change, you can get a program Classic Shell to return your previous menu. People even complain that Windows 8 books in to the start screen. Waitaminute, you’re saying that the operating system immediately brings me to the place where I can launch programs?! That’s horrible! Or maybe it’s an awesome design choice so that you can choose which program to launch immediately on boot instead of having to open a menu and claw through stuff.

This is a deals site, not a tech blog, so I didn’t go into detail or hit all the points I would have had I been writing a tech article but I just wanted to show you that Windows 8 isn’t some terrible demon. I’m not even a Windows guy. I traditionally use Linux and I’m fine with Windows 8. So if you’re looking for a new laptop don’t let Windows 8 scare you away from these awesome deals. Also, they all ship for FREE!

What do you think about Windows 8? Let me know in the comments below!

There are eight laptops available and they are all pretty good computers. Actually, it’s more like eight classes of laptop, and within those classes there are more laptops. For example, if you pick the U410 “Performance and Gaming” laptop, there are five computers ranging from $699 to $1099 with saving as high as $300! These laptops even have touch screens.

The laptop I have is more of a work computer than anything, so while it’s super powerful, we didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on extras like a touchscreen. But I’ll tell you, I’ve reached out and poked my laptop screen more than once expecting something to scroll. I don’t know if it’s because I’m using Windows 8, which is basically a touch screen interface, or if it’s just that I’m used to poking at laptops and tablets but whatever it is, I sometimes wish I had tossed in a few bucks to get a touch screen.

Lenovo Canada Coupon Code: Save Up To 35% + FREE Shipping On Select IdeaPad LaptopsIf the U410 is too much for you, there are tons of other computers for less money. Lenovo does a great job at telling you right up front what the computer is good for.

I think the best deal here is actually the gaming rig. It’s normally $1329 but you can save $510. You get this great system for $819. It’s a bit steeper than most people would like to pay but listen to these specs!

  • 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM
  • 8GB DDR3 RAM
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GT750M GDDR5 2GB
  • High-Sense 720p HD webcam
  • 14″ HD display

This is a beastly little machine.

Now if you aren’t up for something like that, there is a bunch of cheaper options too. For example, the Lenovo G780 LaptopYou save $370 on this one so you pay $579 instead of the original $949. It’s a 17″ laptop with a Core i5 and 8GB RAM.

Equate Lenovo selling computers to human trafficking? Who? Me? No! Of course Lenovo Canada isn’t selling people on the grey market, but they certainly are giving you some great deals on some great computers. Wow. That intro was a stretch, even for me. That got weird. Any who, I took a look at these computers and picked out a few of the better deals.

There aren’t really any bad deals here, and these three are the ones that caught my eye. I think the first one, the Z400 touch, looks really cool. I have a Windows 8 computer, which I actually enjoy using, but a touch screen would make it all the better. The best bang for your buck is the Y500 because it is super powerful. If you want something a little easier on the budget, the Z580 is a great choice!

Costco.ca: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 Hybrid Tablet/Ultrabook for only $500! (Save $250)

Costco.ca: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 Hybrid Tablet/Ultrabook for only $500! (Save $250)

Can’t decide between an ultrabook and a tablet? Costco Canada and Lenovo Canada have you covered with this sweet deal!

The price on Lenovo’s website is $750 so you’re saving about $250 on this one. It’s a very good deal that is only made better by FREE shipping from Costco Canada.

Here are some of the relevant specs on the Yoga 11:

  • 1.4 GHz Quad Code nVidia Tegra 3 processor
  • 2 GB DDR3L RAM
  • 64GB SSD
  • 11.6″ LED Screen
  • Integrated 720p HD Webcam
  • 2 USB 2.0 ports
  • HDMI
  • 2-in 1 card Reader (SD/MMC)

This is one of the best deals I’ve seen out there for a product like this. You get a full touch screen Windows RT (Windows 8 for tablets, basically) tablet with a full keyboard. The reason they call this line of devices “Yoga” is because it has a hinge that allows it to flip into different configurations. You can use it like a laptop or you can bend the keyboard to lay flat behind the screen to it can be used as a traditional tablet. There are two “in between” positions, one called “tent mode” and the other called “stand mode.” You can likely figure out what those look like but if you can’t just do a Google Image Search for Yoga 11.

Sorry to bombard you with a list of these latest Lenovo promo codes, but it’s the easiest way to get the information across.

From the above coupon codes, if you were to use the CAPWEEKLYDEAL code on the basic Lenovo G580 Laptop for $679, you’d get it for $499 with free shipping. This computer has a 15″ screen, a 6GB memory, a 500GB Hard drive and a 3rd generation Intel Core i3-3110M Processor – a fairly basic entry level laptop from Lenovo, good for basic home use, in my opinion.

I’ve found the Lenovo laptops always to be very reliable but I don’t have any experience of their desktop machines. They’re very popular in small businesses, being a well-priced, good, reliable computer brand.

There are some great laptops here. Most are 14″, but there is a 12.5″ if you like that form factor. Their Carbon Touch looks pretty awesome. I’m using Windows 8 on my laptop and I’m digging it, (if you know me then you know that is a big deal for me to say since I hate Windows) but I can see where it’d be a lot better with a touch screen. I don’t know that it’d be worth it to pay the extra for the touch screen right now but it’s future-proofing.

I really do love ultrabooks and I wish I had one, but it just doesn’t fit into my world right now. I have a tablet for a light, portable piece of technology and my phone for the on-the-road stuff. I have a laptop now and it is a powerhouse. I need the power for some projects I’m working on and an ultrabook just won’t cut it unless I want to spend a foolish amount of money on it. I, of course, am from Bargainmoose, so I am not going to spend foolish amounts of money on ANYTHING if I can help it.

But don’t let my technology-drenched life and need for power stop you from getting one. In fact, if you get one of these ultrabooks, let me know how it is in the comments below. For more Lenovo ECoupon Codes, visit the Bargainmoose forums!

Lenovo.ca: Save up to $150 on select ThinkPad Laptops

Lenovo Canada is popping out back to back coupon codes this week. If you missed the ones that expired yesterday, we’ve got another one for you!

I’m really digging how Lenovo is keeping up a fairly steady stream of these deals. It makes for a great customer relationship. Even if you aren’t going to use these deals but you see them every week on Bargainmoose, it will stick with you so three weeks, six months or a year from now you will need a computer and remember that Lenovo has deals constantly and you’ll come back to get whatever the latest deal is. Very smart.

Whenver any “traditionally” big computer buying times come around (Christmas, graduation, back to school, etc…) I really jump on the deals and get them out to you. What I want to know is when do you usually buy computers? Are Christmas, Back to school and Graduation the right times of year for companies to be pushing?

TigerDirect.ca: Visa Gift Card + FREE Windows 8 upgrade With Lenovo Laptops

TigerDirect.ca: Visa Gift Card + FREE Windows 8 upgrade With Lenovo Laptops

TigerDirect Canada has a triple deal for you this labour day weekend! Laptops and gift cards and upgrades, oh my!

This deal is available on a bunch of Lenovo laptops. A lot of them are on sale, some of them are not. These are some of the sales:

I love these “free money” deals. Getting a gift card for the store you are purchasing the product from is fine but not as useful as a Visa (Or MasterCard or AMEX or Diners Club, we don’t take sides here at Bargainmoose) gift card. You can use these cards almost anywhere that Visa is accepted.  My dad gets these for me and my wife for birthdays and generally there is one taped to another one of our Christmas gifts. I absolutely love getting them because, honestly, sometimes it’s hard to think of something you want or need. I like being able to buy something for myself whenever I want.

On top of the Visa gift cards, which I clearly like, you get a free upgrade to Windows 8 and some good laptop deals. I’ve been noticing a lot of these economy laptops. Things like the $300 laptop I listed up there. These are an interesting subset of laptops. The marketing is such that the company wants us, the buying public, to think of a laptop as one an essential appliance. You buy a house and with it you have to get a fridge, a stove, a microwave and a laptop. Now that might seem absurd and, truthfully,it is but at prices like these, it kind of makes sense. Even if you have a desktop, why not have a laptop kicking around?

I’m of the opinion that, at this price, buying a laptop as a guest computer isn’t a bad idea. I know there have been times that I’ve been visiting someone without my computer and really wished I had it while we watched a movie or BBQ’d. It’d be nice to whip out their guest computer. All that being said, some people don’t have the money for their own laptop, let alone a guest laptop. At $300, a laptop becomes much more feasible.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 Only $849.99 With Coupon Code

Posted by on June 10, 2012 at 5:00 PM

Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 Only $849.99 With Coupon Code

If you’re after a slightly higher specced laptop, perhaps for working from home, then there’s a pretty good deal on this Lenovo Ideapad Y580, using the coupon code below.

Click here to get the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 now

  • Discount: Lenovo ideapad for $849.99
  • Expires: Unknown

The regular price is $1499, the web price is $1299 and when you apply the Lenovo ecoupon code, the final price is $849 (that’s a $650 saving), plus you get free shipping.

Specification wise, here’s a quick rundown of the major points:

  • 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor
  • 500GB hard drive
  • 15.6″ HD Glare with integrated camera 1366×768
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M 2GB graphics
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64

You can see the full spec at the above link, I’ve just highlighted some of the important aspects there.

From the looks of the spec, it’s quite powerful, and with that video card, should even be able to handle some of the latest games. That’s something that I’ve always had issues with in terms of laptops – many are not really gaming ready, so I tend to go for a more powerful desktop instead, as my choice of main computer. But with the likes of this laptop and the way they are getting more and more able to cope with the latest games, a laptop could easily be a good option for your main home computer.

Pre-Order 10″ Lenovo 32GB Ideapad For $350 @ Best Buy

Posted by on October 11, 2011 at 8:00 PM

Pre Order 10 Lenovo 32GB Ideapad For $350 @ Best Buy

Over on Best Buy Canada’s online store, they’ve got a pre0order special offer for the 10″ 130425U Ideapad 32GB wi-fi tablet from Lenovo. You can order it now for only $349.99.

The tablet  is due to arrive on the 21st October 2011, so not long to wait for it.

While this Lenovo Ideapad isn’t really for sale at many places yet as it is a pre-order so that I can price compare, the Best Buy price is showing as $80 less expensive than the price on Shop.lenovo.com, which is a good sign (it’s $430 on Lenovo).

Even though the text on Best Buy says that the Ideapad is in white, it only shows a black picture which I am using to illustrate this post.

I’m not overly familiar with specifications on tablets, but here are a few highlights of the specs:

  • 10″ touchscreen – 1280 x 800 resolution
  • NVIDIA Tegra T20 1GHz processor
  • Android 3.0
  • 32GB hard drive
  • MicroSD card reader
  • Front and rear cameras

I have an iPad 2, my pride and joy! I’ve not really used many other tablets though, so it is hard to compare. I can tell you that I wish the iPad 2 had a MicroSD slot, it would be so handy! My digital SLR camera uses MicroSD and I really wish I could just pop the card out of the camera and into my iPad for ease of viewing, but alas, it’s not to be. Perhaps in the iPad 3, eh?

Lenovo is offering free shipping on free shipping day 2011!
