Dell Canada: Free Upgrades Desktop & Laptop Sale

Dell Canada: Free Upgrades Desktop & Laptop Sale

Dell Canada has a sale that greatly interests me. Right now they are offering free upgrades for the same price (and sometimes lower) than the base computer. These upgrades are free and fantastic if you like faster processors, better graphics cards, and touch screens without paying extra for them.

This kind of sale is cool. Many of these upgrades would cost substantially more (a couple hundred dollars). Now, the sale is laid out so that the first product in the pair is the normal product and the second product is the same item with a free upgrade. The price is either the same or cheaper.

My first example is their first deal! The Inspiron 15 5000 Series Non-Touch usually retails for $729.99. Instead of that base mode, purchase the Inspiron 15 5000 Series Touch that was $888.99 and is now $699.99. The only difference between the two models is the free upgrade: a touch screen. With this deal, you also save an extra $30. Your laptop comes with an i5 processor, 8 GB of memory, and a 1TB hard drive.

In the sale, I also found a great deal on a desktop. This Inspiron Desktop retails for $669.99. It comes with an i5 processor, 8 GB of memory, and a 1TB hard drive. Purchase the upgraded Inspiron Desktop with 12GB of memory (instead of 8GB) for faster processing. This desktop still just costs $669.99.

The Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 laptop truly has it all. At $949.99, it is a convertible laptop that switches between tablet and laptop mode: see image above. For truly mesmerizing speed, purchase the upgraded Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 laptop with an i7 processor (instead of i5) for $949.99. This upgrade is valued at $139 and will be well worth your money. Once you have worked on an i7 processor, it is very hard to go back to a regular processor.

There are several Alienware models included the sale as well. I am a big fan of Alienware, but it is really only necessary for gamers who play demanding games that require speed and amazing graphics. Tetris does not count. These other deals give you nice bonus features like memory, speed, and more for the same price as the base models.

With the Dell Advantage program, Dell customers receive 5% back on purchases of $100 or more. This takes the form of a Dell ePromotional card. You can then use the code on this card against your next purchase. All items ship free from Dell.

Microsoft Canada: MSI Leopard (i7, 8GB, 1TB) Gaming Laptop Only $809

Posted by on April 26, 2015 at 12:52 PM

Microsoft Canada: MSI Leopard (i7, 8GB, 1TB) Gaming Laptop Only $809

Microsoft Canada is selling the gorgeous MSI GP60 Leopard-665 Signature Edition Gaming Laptop on sale from $899 down to $809.10 with free shipping with educational discount.

Now, I discovered something interesting at the Microsoft Store. You just need to pick a province and an institution. You do not actually need to supply your student ID, so almost anyone could – if they wanted – take advantage of this deal. You just need to click ‘educational store’, put in your province and your institution, and it will give you the discounted price.

Microsoft Canada: MSI Leopard (i7, 8GB, 1TB) Gaming Laptop Only $809

Now, you may think that 10% off a laptop is not that big. However, I chose this laptop for a special reason. I was looking for the least expensive laptop with an i7 processor. I was personally looking for myself and for a friend of mine who wants speed. I told him about this laptop and he said “but I don’t game” and I said, “it doesn’t really matter – gaming laptops are built for speed.” The MSI GP60 Leopard-665 Signature Edition Gaming Laptop is one of the cheapest laptops I can find with in i7 processor and good stats.

The laptop’s stats are as follows:

  • 15.6-inch (396.24-millimeter) Full HD display
  • Intel Core i7-4710HQ
  • 8GB memory/1TB HDD
  • NVIDIA GeForce 840M graphics

Now, I price compared this laptop with NCIX.com where I found the same model but different stats. The MSI GP60 Leopard laptop with i5-4210H processor, 8GB RAM, and 750GB hard drive costs $949.99. So, you are paying $140 more for a slower processor and a smaller hard drive.

Now, I also found the one that matches the stats sold by the Microsoft Store. The MSI GP60 Leopard i7 4700HQ, 8GB, 1TB, with the same graphics card costs $1099.99. While they advertise a mail-in-rebate that drops the price to $1039.99, this laptop is still $230 more expensive at NCIX.com than it is at Microsoft Canada.

I also checked out prices on Amazon Canada. The same configuration with a slightly better graphics card costs $1099.00 at Amazon Canada. There is a secondary marketplace seller that is selling the same stats and graphic card MSI laptop for $1091.16.

Essentially, this is a very good price for this laptop. Even comparing with base i7 models, you can rarely find a laptop with an i7 processor for under $800. There are a few, but they generally have very small hard drives (half the size), half the RAM, and a normal graphics card.

Dell Latitude Refurbished Laptop Was $389 | Now $298 With Exclusive Coupon Code + Shipping @ refurb.io

Refurb.io is edging out the competition with the refurbished Dell Latitude E6420 laptop. This laptop was $389 and is on sale for $348. Add the exclusive coupon code and the price drops to $298.

Click here to buy the refurbished Dell Latitude E6420 laptop @ refurb.io now

  • Coupon code: MOOSEKLUSIVE
  • Discount: $50 Off the refurbished Dell Latitude E6420
  • Expiry: 8th May 2015

My laptop handles both my business and entertainment. When I am shopping for a laptop, I am looking for something a little bit beyond a basic model. If you are looking for something with a little more power, then you want to check the Dell Latitude E6420 Refurbished Laptop that comes packed to keep you running smoothly. This 14.1” notebook comes equipped with a 250-gigabyte hard drive, Windows 7 Professional and four gigabytes of ram. This notebook is also set to handle media with a DVD-RW allowing you to access and burn both CDs and DVDs.

Price Comparison

Staples Canada has a refurbished version of this laptop for $350.90 and it includes free shipping but a very short warranty. TigerDirect.ca has this same refurbished laptop for $389.99 and you will pay for shipping costs. I tried a couple different locations across Canada, and the shipping rates vary drastically but are all over $12. Shop.ca is selling a refurbished version of this laptop for $449.99 and it includes free shipping. You could also buy a refurbished version of this laptop at Dell.ca for $509 with free shipping.

Shipping

Shipping varies based on your location. I find the price a bit high at $18.99 to Quebec, though the amount will adjust to your location. When I crunch the discount numbers, this deal still comes out ahead of what I can pick up elsewhere.

Reviews

There is one positive review on refurb.io for this laptop. The user is really happy and has written a lengthy note. I also see that PC Magazine has given this laptop an excellent overall rating. I would say this is a solid buy, the comments at PC Magazine are also checking out with most praising this laptop.

Warranty

While the Staples deal is not terrible, you really are getting a better deal at refurb.io with this exclusive coupon. These guys specialize in refurbished products. With a one-year warranty and a 90-day warranty on the battery, refurb.io is giving you the guarantee that this refurbished product is going to be top of the line. The Staples deal on this same laptop has only a 90-day warranty. When buying a refurbished product, that one year warranty helps give me the extra peace of mind that the product is solid.

Are you still debating what model computer is best for your needs? If you check out the coupon code forums, we also have an exclusive 10% off desktops with the code MOOSE10. Save yourself some extra cash with that code also.

Dell Canada: Inspiron 14 3000 Series Laptop Was $339 | Now $290 & Free Windows 10 Upgrade

Posted by on April 20, 2015 at 2:30 PM

Dell Canada: Inspiron 14 3000 Series Laptop Was $339 | Now $290 & Free Windows 10 Upgrade

If you need a base model computer, this is the unit for you. The Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series laptop is on sale from $338.99 down to $289.99.

This is a base model laptop designed to handle your everyday computing needs at a price everyone can afford. The computer comes with:

  • Intel Celeron Processor N2840 (up to 2.58 GHz)
  • 2 GB memory
  • 500 GB hard drive

The computer includes the following slots: HDMITM 1.4a, USB 3.0 (1), USB 2.0 (2), Kensington lock slot, and Media Card (SD, SDHC, SDXC). I would not have thought it before, but my media card slot is one of the most used slots on my computer aside from the USB slots. I think three is a good number of USB slots as I often fill them all up. One slot for my phone cable, one slot for my mouse, and the other slot connects to my external hard drive when I am backing my computer up.

On top of the sale price for this basic laptop, you receive three additional benefits.

$15 back with Dell Advantage

As I have mentioned before, deals at Dell are even better than they seem. With the Dell Advantage program, Dell customers receive 5% back on purchases of $100 or more. This takes the form of a Dell ePromotional card. You can then use the code on this card against your next purchase. After the additional $15 back with Dell Advantage, your laptop will have actually cost you approximately $274.99. Promo cards expire after 90 days.

Free Upgrade to Windows 10

I am not sure what happened to Windows 9, maybe someone miscounted. However, your computer will come with Windows 8.1. Then, when Windows 10 is released later this year, your computer qualifies for a free upgrade to the newest operating system. While a price has not been set for Windows 10, speculators are saying it will go the way of subscription base, like Microsoft Office 365, and are thinking it will be around $49.99 per year. Others think it will remain for purchase and are estimating $119.99, which was the price for Windows 8.1 standard and Windows 8 standard.

Free Shipping

All items at Dell Canada ship free of charge, so there will be no additional charges there.

I figured this was a rather sweet little laptop deal. I decided to see what the competition was selling for laptops around the same configuration. At Best Buy, I found this ASUS 15.6″ Laptop – Black (Intel Dual-Core Celeron N2840 / 500GB HDD / 4GB RAM / Windows 8.1) priced at $329.99. It has the same processor and same size of hard drive, but the memory is a bit bigger. Given that the ASUS does not qualify for an extra $15 back or for the free Windows 10 upgrade, I figure that Dell’s offer (which is already cheaper), is a solid deal.

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: Extra 50% Off Precision Workstations

Posted by on March 25, 2015 at 2:38 PM

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: Extra 50% Off Precision Workstations

Dell Refurbished has a rather hefty coupon code available right now. Receive 50% off all Precision Workstations and 40% off anything else on the Dell Refurbished website.

Click here to shop Precision Workstations @ Dell Refurbished now

  • Coupon Code: SPRING15
  • Discount: 50% off Precision Workstations, 40% off everything else
  • Expiry: 27th March 2015

Refurbished Dell units come with a 100-day warranty. There may have some small cosmetic marks, but the machines themselves have been fully refurbished into working condition. Each computer is graded by Dell’s cosmetic grading system that you can check out here. This coupon is a good way to get a deal on a new desktop or laptop computer. You can combine this coupon with the deal of the day offers for additional savings, but they are selling out quickly.

I picked out a system at random to test. This Precision T3500 Xeon Dual Core 2.53 (W3505) has a cosmetic grade of A. It comes with a fast 2.53 GHz processor, but fairly small hard drive and RAM. Originally $509, you can score this computer for just $254.50.

When it comes to a big coupon like this, I want the biggest machine I can get my hands on. This Precision T5500 Xeon Quad Core 2.93 (X5647) desktop has a 2.93 GHz processor (fast!) and comes with a 2TB hard drive. While 4GB of RAM is nothing impressive, RAM is pretty cheap to buy. This huge system was $859 but comes down to $429.50 after coupon.

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: Extra 50% Off Precision Workstations

Unfortunately, there are no Precision Laptops in stock right now. If you have your heart set on a laptop, you can still receive 40% off other laptops. This Latitude E6420 Core i5 2.60 (i5-2540M) is my pick out of all the laptops. It comes with an i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500 GB hard drive. Originally $579, it is now on sale for $521. After coupon code, pay just $312.16.

There are many laptops to choose from but most have rather small hard drives. Still, for a couple hundred dollars, one of these laptops would make a great little computer for using Facebook, checking your email, and watching YouTube videos.

Shipping depends upon what you are buying and where it is going. On average, my orders cost $28 – $30 and I live in one of the more expensive places to ship: Vancouver Island.

Dell Refurbished Store: Take 40% Laptops, Desktops & Monitors With This Coupon Code & Free Shipping on $199

You may be in the market for a new desktop computer or laptop. If so, Dell’s Refurbished Store has an excellent coupon code available to get you a discount for the next few days. Until the 31st of January you can take 40% off all used, refurbished or off-lease laptops, desktops, monitors and more.

Click here to shop @ DellRefurbished.ca

  • Coupon code: 40ALLFY15
  • Discount: 40% off used computers, laptops and monitors
  • Expiry: 31st January 2015

This is a great opportunity to get a computer or laptop, especially if you are a student. Laptops can be so expensive, and have become quite essential for college and university courses. I tested this coupon code and it can be used on items that are already discounted too. Like the Dell Latitude E6420 Core i5 2.50 with Windows 7 Pro and a 14″ screen. This laptop was priced at $539 and discounted down to $485. Once I applied the coupon code, the total price came right down to $291. To give  you an idea of how great this price is, Staples Canada has the same laptop for $399.99 and NewEgg.ca has a refurbished Dell Latitude E6420 for $379.99.

Dell Refurbished Store: Take 40% Laptops, Desktops & Monitors With This Coupon Code & Free Shipping on $199

Shipping fees may vary depending on your location. My shipping costs were not calculated until after I entered my postal code. As you can tell from the image above, my shipping fees were waived as well! All orders that exceed $199 will receive free shipping.

You may even want to check out some of the other desktops, laptops and monitors that have instant savings before applying the 40% discount. The Precision T5500 Xeon Quad Core 2.93 Tower was $719 and is marked down to $647. Apply this DellRefurbished.ca coupon code and you will pay just $388.20 for a high quality computer tower with Windows 7 pro, 660GB HDD and 4GB of RAM. You may even need a monitor to go with this computer tower. If that is the case, the Dell Professional Series 20 inch Flat Panel Monitor is on sale for $90 from $120. Apply your 40% discount and pay just $54. 20 inches a great size monitor for anything really, from gaming to watching movies or blogging.

While I have heard that the Dell refurbished products do not always come in pristine condition, they do have a pretty good return policy if you are not satisfied. You can sort items by grade “A” and grade “B” while shopping. Worst case scenario you can return any product purchased from Dell Financial Services within 30 days of the invoice date. They will take a 15% restocking fee unless the product is defective.

You can view more DellRefurbished.ca coupon codes in the Bargainmoose forum.

$200 Off Asus Transformer Book Flip TP500LA 15″ Laptop @ Microsoft Store Canada – Now $300 Was $500 & Free Shipping

Posted by on December 30, 2014 at 6:40 PM

$200 Off Asus Transformer Book Flip TP500LA 15 Laptop @ Microsoft Store Canada Now $300 Was $500 & Free ShippingRight now, you can get the ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LA signature edition laptop for just $299 at the Microsoft Store, instead of its original price of $499 ($200 in savings). This laptop has been popping in and out of stock every since the Microsoft Store’s Boxing Week Sale began, so here’s your chance to get it but be quick about it!

The 15.6″ ASUS Transformer book flip laptop features the folllowing noteworthy specs:

  • HD touch screen
  • Intel Core i3
  • 4GB memory
  • 500 hard drive
  • up to 5 hour battery life

What sets this laptop apart from the rest is that it’s a “book flip”, which means that you can flip the screen whichever you want, anywhere from 0 to 360 degrees. You can use it as a regular lapotp or you can push the screen the other way to essentially flip the laptop on itself and use it as a tablet.

If I didn’t already have a tablet and a laptop, I would definitely get it just for this feature alone because not only is the screen large enough to fit most needs, but it’s nice to have the convenience of basically having two gadgets in one (as it acts as both a tablet and a laptop).

Here’s what one reviewer had to say about it on the Microsoft Store’s site:

Going to start by saying that if you can catch this computer on sale, that it really is an amazing deal and bang for your buck […] I use my laptop for streaming video/music, iTunes, browsing, and running Office 365. I noticed no performance issues or slowdowns. The speaker quality on the laptop is fantastic at this price point, and I got about 7 hours of battery on my first charge cycle, better than I expected considering Microsoft said up to 5 hours. Touchscreen is also very responsive and noticed no issues.

The Microsoft Store always offers free shipping, so apart from taxes, you won’t have to pay any additional fees. I ordered from the Microsoft Store not too long ago and I have to admit that I was very surprised when the mailman rang my doorbell with my order as soon as two days later.

Dell Financial: Up to 50% Off Coupon, $35 Monitors, & More Black Friday Deals (HOT!)

The Dell Financial Refurbished store has renamed Black Friday ‘Red Friday’ and released a coupon code for up to 50% off everything in store including their sale items. This sale is only on for two days!

Click here to shop @ Dell Refurbished Canada now

  • Coupon Code: REDF14
  • Discount: Up to 50% off
  • Expiry: 28th November 2014

Here is how the coupon works. You will save 50% on Dell Optiplex 960 and 990 desktops and all Dell 20″ monitors. All other Dell Optiplex desktops and Dell monitors will be 40% off. Everything else will be an extra 30% off with coupon. With the above coupon, you will also receive free shipping on orders of $199 or more. Honestly, hit that minimum because shipping is steep if you do not.

Seriously, this deal is hot! Check out the Dell E2011H 20″ monitor that was $110 and is now $82. Because this is a 20″ monitor, you get an extra 50% off bringing the monitor down to just $41! What are you waiting for? Go! Buy!

For a slightly smaller monitor for those on a lower budget, the Dell E Series E190S 19-inch Flat Panel Monitor was $79 and can be found as low as $59 (some are $63). Using the $59 one as my model while there are still some in stock, the coupon code above brings this Dell monitor down to just $35.40. I really cannot see these staying in stock for very long.

If you are looking for a budget computer, look no further than the OptiPlex 960 Core 2 Duo 3.00 (E8400). Currently on sale from $379 down to $322, you will receive an extra 50% off this unit, as it is one of the two models that qualify for this deal. That brings the price down to just $161. This basic desktop has 320GB hard drive, 8GB of RAM, and Windows 7 Pro. There are several of these units available, just search the website if this one is sold out.

This sale has me really excited because you can get an entire desktop computer – laptop and monitor – for under $200. If you were looking for a laptop, I would recommend a few Latitude models. These four Latitude E5420 Core i5 2.50 (i5-2520M) all have a fast processor and 750GB hard drives. They are on sale for $474 right now but come down to $331.80 after coupon.

Take advantage of this Dell Financial Services coupon code for two days only!

Tiger Direct Canada: Get $20 off your order of $100 or more

Hey there, Bargainmoosers! Tiger Direct is currently having a limited time promotion where you can get $20 off your order of $100 or more when you’re shopping online. That’s not a bad deal, folks! All you have to do is click on the promotional banner in the link below, and enter your email address. Tiger Direct will then send you your personalized coupon code. Keep in mind that Tiger Direct charges for shipping (which depends on the items that you’re purchasing).

Tiger Direct has a myriad of great electronics that you can choose from. They usually have some very decent prices as well! You can choose from many computers & tablets, cameras & camcorders, toys & games, TV & home theatre merchandise, and even office equipment & supplies.

There are some good deals currently available at Tiger Direct, including this Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S100 Intel Core i5 Touch Notebook Computer that’s currently on sale for $799.99 (this was previously retailing for $1299.99). A similar laptop is currently on Amazon’s American website for $1302.99 US. This is also one of the rare items on Tiger Direct’s website that qualifies for free shipping!

Now that Christmas is just around the corner (Halloween is going to be this Friday, people – that was fast), it may be time to consider doing some early holiday shopping. The best part about hunting for potential presents online is the fact that you don’t have to endure long, annoying line-ups that you’d usually have to deal with at retail locations! Plus, if you start shopping now, you won’t have to worry about stuff becoming out of stock (at least not as frequently). Don’t you hate when that happens?

I’ve listed a snippet of a review of the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga from a satisfied Lenovo customer below:

I have had the Thinkpad Yoga for two months now and it has exceeded my expectations. I am a college student and it does what I need and more. This product offers all the add-ons and feature you could ever want. Its absolutely amazing and I love it.

Check out this sale, my fellow Bargainmoosers! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Tiger Direct Canada: Acer C720-2827 Intel Celeron 11.6″ Chromebook Google Chrome OS (Refurbished) | Was $232 Now $168

Tiger Direct Canada: Acer C720 2827 Intel Celeron 11.6 Chromebook Google Chrome OS (Refurbished) | Was $232 Now $168

Looking for a nice affordable Chromebook computer? Then you should check out today’s deal at Tiger Direct! It’s for a refurbished Acer C720-2827 Intel Celeron 11.6″ Chromebook, which you can now get for $167.99 (plus $11.45 shipping). The regular price of this Chromebook is $231.77, so this is a pretty decent deal!

This Acer C720-2827 Intel Celeron 11.6″ Chromebook has a multitude of great features, including an Intel Celeron 2955U 1.40GHz processor, 2GB of DDR3L memory, 16GB SSD, integrated Wi-Fi, the Google Chrome Operating System, and an 11.6″ HD Active Matrix TFT Colour LCD Display. You can learn more about the specifications of this Chromebook by clicking here.

In my opinion, this looks like a handy device to bring around with you when you want to get some work done while you’re on-the-run. It apparently has wonderful battery life, too! It may not be a tablet, but then again not everyone likes a tablet – some prefer to use an actual keyboard instead of a touchscreen interface when they’re typing. If that’s the case, then this Acer C720-2827 Intel Celeron 11.6″ Chromebook may be suitable for you.

I’m actually very curious about the Google Chrome Operating System that’s installed on this Chromebook. I plan to check out some Chromebooks during the next week so I can try out this intriguing new OS!

If you were to purchase this Acer C720-2827 Intel Celeron 11.6″ Chromebook from Amazon (US) or WalMart (US), they’re currently on sale for $199 US (plus shipping to Canada). I’ve included a brief review of this Acer C720-2827 Intel Celeron 11.6″ Chromebook from a satisfied Tiger Direct customer:

Excellent deal. Featherweight, great for surfing, email and review of docs. Chrome language is not recognized by Word however. Really great for travel. Battery life longer than expected… 8.5 hrs. Very quick to start. Links to favorites stored on home page. All very convenient.

Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Dell Refurbished Store Coupon Code: 40% Off Entire Store

Posted by on September 10, 2014 at 11:30 AM

Dell Refurbished Store Coupon Code: 40% Off Entire Store

BUMP: This coupon has been brought back for a short time so I have updated the expiry. They have also RESTOCKED a ton of stuff on their website and have new stuff as well – be sure to check it out because this deal is wicked socks!

Dell Refurbished Canada has a coupon code for 40% off their entire website. It is rather mind-blowing to think about really, as refurbished products are already discounted from their original retail price and yet are in the same general condition.

Click here to shop @ Dell Refurbished Canada now

  • Coupon Code: 40BTS14
  • Discount: 40% off site wide
  • Expiry: 29th August 2014 14th September 2014

You also will receive free ground shipping on orders over $199. As you can expect from refurbished products, quantities are limited so grab any hot deals you see. Did I forget to mention that? This coupon code is valid on everything, which includes the Dell Hot Deals section. Stock changes almost daily, so check back often for new items.

Dell Refurbished currently has two Dell Professional Series P2210 22-inch Flat Panel Monitors priced at $155 apiece. You get a 22″ screen with a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050. The monitor has four USB 2.0 connectors as well as VGA, DVI-D, and DisplayPort. Both Energy Star compliant and EPEAT Gold-qualified, this monitor will not cost a lot of power to use. While this monitor is no longer available on the Dell website, I found the equivalent Dell 22″ monitor listed on Dell.com for $219.99 market price, on sale for $189.99. After coupon code, you will pay only $93 for the Dell P2210 monitor.

There appears to be a lot of laptops and desktops that are the same on Dell Refurbished. That may sound odd, but they may be lease returns or just a line that had some issues they needed to fix. There are a few Latitude E6500 Core 2 Duo 2.80 (T9600) business laptops in stock currently for $399. While the hard drive may be small, these are not designed for holding tons of information; rather they are designed to be super fast. You are working with a 2.8 GHz processor. Did you know your basic Macbook Air comes with a 1.4 GHz processor?  This baby will boot up and go through webpages so fast you do not even know what is what. I am on a gaming computer and it is only 2.3 GHz. After coupon code, this computer comes down to $239.40 and it would qualify for free shipping.

Rumour has it that Dell Refurbished will be restocking often, so if you do not see anything you like keep your eyes open and check back often. You have three more days to enjoy this deal!

For this and any future Dell Refurbished coupon codes, please visit the forum. Often they are put up there before we blog them.

Amazon Canada: $100 Off HP 11 Chromebook Just $220 (HOT!) EXPIRED

Amazon Canada has a very hot deal on the HP 11″ Chromebook 11-1101us (2GB RAM, 16GB, Chrome OS) this week. Purchase this awesome little laptop for just $219.94 with free shipping, which is $100 off the original price of $319.99.

This computer runs the Chrome OS with a Samsung Exynos 5250 processor, 2GB RAM, and a 16GB solid-state hard drive. The full size keyboard is maintained for comfortable typing without running into the wrong letters. The Chromebook also features two USB ports, a webcam, WLAN, and Bluetooth. The battery lasts for up to six hours before needing recharging. It also has an 11.6″ IPS (Integrated Prenatal Screening) display with 1366 x 768 resolution that offers wider color gamut and contrast ratio packed into this small little unit. I do not know much about laptop screen technology, but word on the street says that this is a very good deal for a laptop featuring an IPS screen.

The Chromebook is not a regular laptop. It runs web-based apps from Google instead of traditional PC applications. However, that does not limit you from seeing or editing documents that have been created through Adobe or Word. You will just do so via a Google app instead of those PC programs.

The Chromebook differs in another way. Your information is not stored on the computer. Rather, you store your documents, photos, and more to Google Drive (Google’s Cloud-based storage service). They do not take up space on your computer so your device never becomes bogged down. I am not so sure I like the idea of giving over my information and valuable data to someone else to store without having my own copy of it, but the number of times I have lost a hard drive and all the information stored on it is countless. Maybe this is a better way.

I also made sure to do a little price comparing in case you doubted the awesomeness of this deal. The same computer is $279.99 @ BestBuy, $339.59 @ NCIX.com, $318 @ Walmart.ca, $323.03 @ Canadian Computers & Electronics, and $287.26 @ Hookbag.ca. Most of these companies charge shipping as well, so you are getting an even better deal at Amazon.ca because the HP Chromebook will ship free as it costs over $25.

Do any of our Moosers own one of these? If you do, please comment and let us know what you think of the HP Chromebook.

The Source Canada: Free Printer With Laptop Purchase ($80 Value)

The Source Canada: Free Printer With Laptop Purchase ($80 Value)

Receive a free HP Deskjet 2542 all-in-one printer worth $79.99 when you purchase any laptop at The Source Canada for four days only.

This older model printer is no longer available at the majority of the stores I looked at when I was attempting to price compare. However, companies bring out new printer models several times a year so it does not surprise me that a perfectly good printer is no longer on vogue. My nearly four-year-old HP Touchsmart printer was no longer sold mere months after I bought it, and yet it still functions perfectly well (except for the odd digested paper).

You do not need to add the printer to your cart; rather it will be automatically added for you with a qualifying laptop and then discounted to $0.

The Source Canada: Free Printer With Laptop Purchase ($80 Value)

Let us talk about inexpensive computers. Face it, not everyone has the money to go out put down half a month’s income on a new connection to the mythical land of Facebook and  planet Twitter. In addition, as most honest computer technicians worth their salt will tell you, the computers that people own far exceed their requirements. It is like getting a Lamborghini to go grocery shopping: overkill. Thankfully, The Source has several base models that will cost you under $250 and take care of your basic needs.

Acer Aspire AOD270-1892 10.1″ Netbook – Was $349.98 | Now $199.96

This netbook is the ultimate laptop for portability. The 10.1″ screen is still big enough to function for decent word processing, and the attached keyboard and following stats make it far better than a tablet that costs tons more. The stats are:

  • Intel Atom N2600 Dual-Core Processor
  • 1GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory
  • 320GB 5400RMP SATA hard drive

Acer Aspire One AO725-0691 11.6″ Netbook – Was $399.95 | Now $219.96

Get a slightly bigger screen, faster processor, and a bigger chunk of memory with this Netbook for only $20 more. Your screen also upgrades to LCD for superior viewing of HD films. The features are:

  • AMD C-60 Processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 320GB Hard drive
  • Microsoft Office software

Both are open box models with full manufacturer’s warranty. The free printer offer can also stack, so if you buy two laptops you will receive two free printers. I do not think anyone needs two printers, but you might be able to sell the second one to cut down your overall costs.

Receive free shipping on orders of $30 or more.

Lenovo Canada Labour Day Sale: Save Up To 33% On Laptops & Computers With Coupon Code (Expired)

Back to school, back to school…whenever I hear those three words, I still somehow hear Adam Sandler’s voice ringing in my ears from Billy Madison. With Lenovo’s labour day sale, it’s no wonder why these words are so relevant at this time – after all, there is a myriad of money saving deals on laptops, computers, and computer accessories that are sure to get students and parents alike psyched for back to school shopping. At this time, we’re going to look at some of the best finds in Lenovo’s labour day sale, where you’d be able to save anywhere from 23% to 33% off of the retail price.

Click here to check this deal @ Lenovo now

  • Coupon Code: DOORBUSTER
  • Discount: Depends On Deal (From 23% to 33%)
  • Expires: Unknown

In order to enjoy some decent savings on the following laptops, you’ll need to enter the coupon code DOORBUSTER when purchasing the selection that best suits your needs. Listed below are some Lenovo laptops that you can get at a great price during this promotion:

Lenovo Y40 – $729 (Regular Price: $1,099 – Save 33%)
If you’re looking for a laptop that’s powerful enough to provide you with an enjoyable gaming experience, the Lenovo Y40 is the laptop for you. I’ve been burned before when it comes to choosing a laptop that had less than satisfactory specifications; I didn’t think I would play many games on my laptop compared to my desktop computer, but I was unfortunately very wrong (trying to play a game with lag can really try your patience). With a powerful AMD Radeon R9 M275 2 GB video card under the hood, this would be wonderful for gamers. To show you how much of a deal this is, the very similar Lenovo Y50 sells on Newegg for $1,199.99 (plus $12.99 shipping).

Lenovo Z50 – $419 (Regular Price: $599 – Save 30%)
You’ll have ample room to save projects, photos, videos, and music on the Lenovo Z50, thanks to its massive 1TB hard drive. This laptop retails for $699.99 (plus $9.99 shipping) on Newegg – that’s $280.99 more than the price that’s being offered by Lenovo!

Lenovo U40p – $579 (Regular Price: $799.99 – Save 27%)
If you find yourself “on the go” constantly, the Lenovo U40p can best accommodate your needs. I know I’m traveling constantly as a freelance writer, so it’s important to have a laptop that’s travel friendly like this model is. It weighs less than four pounds, and has an extended battery life that can last up to ten hours, according to the Lenovo website. The upgraded i7 model can be found on Amazon for a whopping $1,239.82 (plus $13.37 shipping).

Lenovo Flex 2 15 – $739 (Regular Price: $969 – Save 23%)
This particular laptop intrigues me the most. It’s just so different from the others in terms of its appearance, since it’s an incredibly thin and light machine that also has touchscreen support (thanks to its ten-point multitouch display). Here’s a snippet of a review of the Flex 2 15 from Lenovo’s website:

“I really LOVE Stand Mode! I’m an accountant always working from a stack of papers and I can get the built – in keyboard and track pad out of the way! Now I can put papers in front of me and a wireless keyboard off to the side – true desktop replacement but still portable. The built – in keyboard is nice and satiny smooth.”

When September is on the horizon, the one thing that’s typically seen is that there are many back to school sales out there, whether it’s from retail electronics giants, or if they’re popular online retailers. One thing to remember is that these prices don’t include taxes, shipping and handling, or any recycling fees, so keep that in mind when making your purchase. You can also find some great deals on computer accessories and desktop computers on Lenovo’s website, so check out their Labour Day sale by clicking here.

Apple Canada Back to School Offer

Posted by on July 1, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Apple Canada Back to School Offer

Apple Canada has just started up their back to school offer for students and teachers. With the purchase of desktops, laptops, iPads, and iPhones you will receive up to a $110 Apple Store gift card.

The first offer is two-fold. When you buy a laptop or desktop in the Apple Store for Education, you save money off the original retail price.

Buy a Mac for university and get $110 Apple Store gift card only at the Apple Store for Education. For example, an 11″ Macbook Air will cost you $949 as a student, which is $50 off the regular price of $999. Then, you will also receive the $110 bonus Apple Store Card.

In the land of desktops, the 21.5-inch: 1.4GHz Mac is $1149 regularly, but it costs $1099 with educational pricing. You will also receive that $110 gift card with your purchase.

If you purchase an iPad for college, you will receive a $55 Apple store gift card and receive educational pricing discounts. The iPad mini starts at $319 at Apple, but with the educational discount, it will cost students and teachers just $299 and you get the bonus $55 Apple Store gift card. Likewise, the Apple Air in the educational store starts at $499 instead of the regular $519 and comes with that gift card.

If you buy an iPhone for school, you will also receive a $55 Apple Store gift card but there are no further educational discounts. It is still a good deal, if you have wanted to get your hands on an iPhone because you can use the gift card to load your phone up with all the apps you want to buy and some great music as well.

This was always my favourite time of year to buy my Apple products. I really enjoyed combining the gift and the student discount to optimize my buying power. My graduation is in November so I will no longer be a student for the first time in many years. I am now carefully considering what I should buy before my status as a student ends best to take advantage of student discounts like these. You never realize how nice this kind of discount is until you are no longer eligible!

Apple Canada offers free shipping on orders of $75 or more so any major electronics, like these, that you will be buying will ship free.
