Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Books for Teens & Kids

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Books for Teens & Kids

Kobobooks Canada is offering up to 70% off digital books for teens and kids.

You can get up to 70% off teen ebooks all month long. Some books are discounted even more than that. I found this book called Dr. Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets by Evan Roskos. The book was a 2014 Morris Award finalist and is the story of a boy dealing with an abusive father, a self-destructive sister, and working through his own anxiety and depression all the while channeling the famous poet Walt Whitman. Originally $18.99, the book is on sale for a really inexpensive $1.99.

Get up to 70% off kid ebooks as well. The Judy Moody was in a mood book costs only $1.99. Oddly enough they don’t have the starting price for the book on Kobo, but I looked it up on Amazon and it costs $6.65 there. This is a great introduction to the Judy Moody series and a pretty inexpensive way to try out something new. In the book, Judy is going in to third grade and must face the changes and the exciting new challenges about to come her way.

Check out these titles and more during the sale.

KoboBooks Canada Coupon: 30% Off Select Titles

KoboBooks Canada Coupon: 30% Off Select Titles

Give a new book a try and save 30% on select titles with this coupon code at Kobo Books for a limited time!

Get a new eBook @ KoboBooks.com now

  • Coupon Code: JANGET30
  • Discount: 30% off select titles
  • Expiry: 26th January 2014

How many times have you heard the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover“? Well this time, don’t do it! All of the titles that you can save 30% on with the code above are lesser known books, but that certainly doesn’t mean that they’re any less worthy.

Take for instance The First Confessor: The Legend of Magda Searus, which you can get for $2.09 instead of $2.99. Out of over 4,000 reviews, it actually has a rating of 4.25 stars out of 5 on Goodreads along with 4.9 stars out of 5 on Amazon.ca. Granted, it’s Terry Goodkind’s 15th novel in the series, but it’s one you could technically start the series with, considering it’s a prequel to the entire story. There’s also the option of buying it just for the sake of saving money on it, and sinking your teeth into the first one in the series: Wizard’s First Rule.

I totally understand if you would rather read a book that is first in its series, or perhaps isn’t even in a series of titles at all, like this one: Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat To Dreamgirl: A Woman’s Guide To Holding Her Own In A Relationship. Certainly a most interesting title and subject for a book, but nevertheless an interesting one as the author, Sherry Argov, examines different scenarios such as to why men stop being romantic after a while, or why nice girls are taken for granted.

Is there a book you have been wanting to read for ages but just haven’t gotten around to? I’m always on the lookout for new titles to read, so be sure to share which one it is in the comments section! Personally, I’ve been holding off on reading the last book in Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series: Dead Ever After, because as much as I want to find out what happens, I just can’t believe it’s already over!

Plus, if you haven’t already bought the book you have been wanting to read and it’s not on the above list of books you can save on, then be sure to use this Kobo Books coupon to save 30% on all purchases.

Kobobooks: 14 Day Free Trial on Magazines

Posted by on January 7, 2014 at 9:30 PM

Kobobooks: 14 Day Free Trial on Magazines

Kobobooks is offering a free 14 day trial on magazines before you are billed. That gives you fourteen days to check out the magazine without a cent being taken off your credit card. If you do not unsubscribe within fourteen days, then you will be billed.

I really like this new option. There are many magazines I wouldn’t mind checking out but I am too busy to drop by my local magazine shop to leaf through them and see if they are actually what I want. This fourteen day trial window sort of replaces the ‘leaf through’ phase you enjoy at physical stores by letting you read the magazine first to see if it is what you want and giving you the option to pay nothing when you cancel your subscription. If the magazine isn’t what you are looking for then there is no money lost!

I am trying to find a really good fashion magazine because, hey, I love fashion! I have been considering  Vanity Fair but have never really read that magazine to know if they are what I am looking for. Rather then pay $5.20 for an issue so I can check it out, I can just subscribe for fourteen days and test it out. If I don’t like it, I can cancel.

The fourteen day trial is on the subscription, not on individual magazine purchases, so if you don’t cancel, you will be billed for a yearly subscription.

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Boxing Day Sale

Posted by on December 24, 2013 at 4:30 PM

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Boxing Day Sale

Kobobooks Canada has launched their Boxing Day sale early. Get up to 70% off books, up to 50% off indie fiction, and up to 30% off select magazine subscriptions.

In the 70% off section you can get deals on books like Bone and Bread which was $18.95 and is now on sale for $4.99. There are a lot of non-fiction, fiction, mystery, romance, and award winning books on sale for 70% off so if ebooks are on your wishlist – check out this sale.

Another feature of Kobo’s Boxing Day sale is the 50% off indie fiction with the coupon code 50COUPON. Indie novels are usually pretty cheap (the most expensive generally around $5.99) so this coupon will give you plenty of new reads for a very low price!

The really big deal I think in all of this is up to 30% off select annual magazine subscriptions! Kobobooks rarely offers any magazine deals so I am pretty pleased about this one. Popular Science is just $10.49 for a year subscription to the famous magazine. Even with this magazine being on sale at Zinio as well – Zinio’s price (once converted to CAN) is a couple dollars more. The magazines are already discounted and Kobo is not showing the original subscription prices right now but from what I have seen these prices are pretty good. I always suggest price comparing to make sure though.

Black Friday Audiobook & eBook Deals Roundup

There are tons of great Black Friday deals out there for people who still read with their eye holes like suckers, and for those of us who have professionals read books to us. So, without much further ado, let’s get to the deals!

There are over 400 books available on Audible.com for only $4.95. There is stuff in every genre, from Sci-Fi and Fantasy to nonfiction and Romance (filth, just filth) and everything in between. Not sure what to get? Check the Editors’ Choice.

If you aren’t a member then

Downpour has over 1000 books at 75% off. No membership here, kids: just buy and download. If you can’t figure something out with 1000 books, you just shouldn’t be reading.

Audiobooks.com (what a sweet domain name!) are a membership-only service, so you can’t buy a-la-carte like Audible or Downpour. That being said, they don’t have any book sales, but they do have a deal on gift memberships which is a great idea. You can get 30% off of three months, or 40% off of one year.

This is like Netflix’s old DVD service and a library totally made out. Basically, you can get paperback books, audiobook CDs and MP3s, or a combo. You can get monthly plans or rent them a-la-carte. I feel like the 50% off memberships deal they have on the front page isn’t a Black Friday deal, and it’s only for the first month, so there you go. The one that is a holiday deal for sure is the 25% off gift memberships. Get paperback, audiobooks, one month, three months, two books at a time, one, five, whatever you want. Mix and match with this coupon, kids.

Kobobooks Canada: Hunger Games Trilogy – Now $6.38 (Was $30.39)

Posted by on November 18, 2013 at 10:00 PM

Kobobooks Canada: Hunger Games Trilogy Now $6.38 (Was $30.39)

Kobobooks Canada has the Hunger Games Trilogy at a price that just can’t be beat unless you are stealing it, which is not recommended. The trilogy is currently listed at $30.39 and when you use coupon code 80Nvbr you get the entire trilogy for only $6.38.

With the second movie, Catching Fire, hitting theatres this month (November 22nd according to IMDB) you might want to brush up on your storyline if you have read the series before, or if you haven’t you might want to take a crack at the books beforehand. They have been an extremely popular series of books that is also producing an extremely popular movie trilogy so far. In fact, this year at my home university they are teaching Hunger Games in the children’s literature class along with books like The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, and Anne of Green Gables.

I bought my husband the Hunger Games trilogy from Kobobooks and he read it through the Kobo iPad app. I have never seen him read through three books so darn fast! If you do not have the Kobo app you really should check it out. It is really simple to have it installed in multiple devices like your tablet, phone, and your computer. It is also free and it is a great system for reading books on. My favourite feature is reading my books on a black background with white text.

Have you read The Hunger Games Trilogy? Are you looking forward to the second movie?

This selection of books makes me want to get a bit naughty. I wound love to just pick a weekend and read the Scanguards Vampires Box Set (Vol 1-3) which is only $9.99 but after coupon comes down to $4.99 which combines two of my favourite things: love and vampires. Not my usual sort of reading material but a girl has to indulge every now and then, eh? Seriously, $5 for three ebooks is a pretty good price as well.

What guilty indulgences are you eying up this weekend?

I’m not sure what people are reading these days, as I have my head firmly planted in textbooks and reading material for school. I just finished reading Hamlet and Catcher in The Rye. This weekend I need to plow through The Crucible (a very painful book to read) for class on Monday.

Not into reading the classics? Check out some of these books, then. I would much rather be reading Under the Hawthorn Tree by Ai Mi than The Crucible. The book costs $12.71, but after coupon comes down to $8.90.

Kobobooks Canada: Up To 70% Off Select Reads

Get over 70% off select reads at Kobobooks Canada, on right now for their September sale.

With books as low as $4.99, you must stock up! I still don’t have an e-reader, but my birthday is coming up, so maybe I’ll have to get myself a Kobo and some cheap reads.

I have been wanting to read:

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry – a retired man sets out on an unlikely journey that will change his life – $4.99, was $11.99

Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work – simply because I have a hard time making decisons – $4.99, was $15.99

The Billionaire’s Secrets – because a little smutty romance is allowed, especially at only $2.99

Moolala: Why Smart People Do Dumb Things With Their Money – and What You Can Do About It – totally self-explanatory – $4.99

These books are top-rated bestsellers, so you really are getting a great deal on great reads. We have several Kobo coupon codes in the forum, so check them out for more deals.

This deal is certainly not for people like me. People like me (university students) are busy trying to either a) get a head start on their textbooks for the impending school semester or b) are using the weekend to sleep, party, shop, or any combination of things that celebrate their last weekend of freedom.

However, I do know this list includes books I would much rather read than the books I have been assigned. Unfortunately, I highly doubt if I suggested to my Shakespeare teacher that we should study The Merchant of Venice Beach instead of The Merchant of Venice that she would agree. Maybe inside she would be like ‘Hell yes!’ but I doubt my idea would fly. The book is extremely affordable, only $3.04 now and after coupon it comes down to $2.13. If only my textbooks could be that cheap!

We have several high value Kobo coupon codes in the forum, so check them out for more deals.

Kobo Trivia Contest: Get a 10% to 75% Coupon!

Any fans here of Kobo eBooks? Right now, Kobo.com is having a Prime Time trivia contest, and if you enter this, they will reward you with a free coupon code for a discount of between 10% and 75% off your next book!

There are 10 trivia questions over 10 days, and if you complete each one correctly you will instantly receive a free coupon (or a Kobo Mini)! Everyone who tries will also be put into a draw to win their grand prize pack of a Kobo Arc & Aura HD and $1,000… nice. You can play daily, so maybe check in often.

The coupon code terms say that it’s for “select ebooks” so I am not 100% sure which these are. But if there’s a certain book you’re hankering for, give it a try.

Today’s question: Michael C. Hall stars as the conflicted hero in this Showtime hit. Answer – Dexter! I got a 20% coupon code for answering this.

I have used the Kobo app on my iPad when I got good deals on a few books that I wanted to read, such as The Hunger Games. Let us know in the comments below if you give this a try and happen to get a substantial discount code. Here’s hoping for the 75%!

The books on this list look interesting and informative, with many Canadian titles. I actually prefer reading Canadian books, as I feel I can relate to the characters and the setting better.

If you are heading off to university, this might be a must-read, but do it before you have to start your required readings. Campus Confidential- 100 Startling Things You Didn’t Know About Canadian Universities, was $16.95, then $10.59, now $7.41.

The Door is Open – Memoir of a Soup Kitchen Volunteer is the eye-opening memoir of a volunteer in Vancouver’s poverty-stricken and drug-addled east side. Was $12.99, then $9.39, now $6.57.

Come From Away – a historical account of nurses who immigrated to Newfoundland and Labrador. Was $18.95, then $13.64, now $9.55.

Don’t forget to check the Bargainmoose forum where you might find more Kobo Books coupons.
