Kobo Canada Promo Code: 30% Off Romance Plus Up To 75% Off Back To School Reads

Looking for some steamy stories to read to end your summer? Look no further than this promo code from Kobo Books, with 30% off romance. Also, while you’re there, check out their up to 75% off back to school sale.

Click here to shop @ Kobo.com now

  • Coupon Code: ROMANCE30
  • Discount: 30% off
  • Expiry: 18th August 2014

I’ve never really been a huge romantic story fan. In fact, I’m not much into romance at all. But, I do like a steamy read with lots of sex and passion. Looking through the list at Kobo, I see a lot of that passion and sexuality framed on the covers of the titles available.

If you are into supernatural romance then Repossessed might just be the read you are after. Witches and warlocks and pixies, oh my! You can’t beat the regular price of $2.99, except when you add the 30% off coupon and get it for only $2.09.

If Scottish men are your thing (and whose thing aren’t they?) then you’ll love The Highland Brides, which comes as a boxset. It is regularly $10.27, but with coupon, get it for only $7.19.

Being a mom of three, I really don’t get a lot of time to read, unless my kids are also reading. The Back to School sale will get them some great books at quite the discount, and I can just pop them right on their Kobo tablets. We are planning a road trip next week and they’ll need something to do and reading on the tablet is a perfect way to give them something to do in the car, without it being video games.

Star Wars Jedi Academy is right up my boy’s alley. Now only $8 and available across a number of devices. My son is also addicted to The 39 Clues, so The Maze of Bones would be a good one to get him (I’ll just have to check if he’s read it!). It also only $8.

Kobo Coupon Code: 30% Off Select eBooks

Posted by on July 18, 2014 at 10:00 PM

Kobo Coupon Code: 30% Off Select eBooks

Kobo has released a 30% off coupon code on select eBooks this weekend. Dig into something new this summer and experience another world.

Click here to shop select books @ Kobo Canada now

  • Coupon Code: VACATION30
  • Discount: 30% off
  • Expiry: 21st July 2014

The books included in this offer are through the above link. Remember to click the “browse more…” links besides each category name so you can see all the books in the specific category that qualify for this coupon code. It is not just the few books they show you as an example. If you are just browsing the website, make sure “Items Eligible For Promo Codes” is checked off in whichever section you are in as that option narrows your book choices down to eBooks this coupon will work on.

The categories in the sale include:

  • Fiction
  • Mystery
  • Kids’ and Teen Titles
  • Non-fiction

Out of those four categories, my favourite is mystery. I have been a mystery reader since I was young and first read the complete Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

I generally judge my mystery books by their names. This book Darwins Nightmare by Mike Knowles sounds like a pretty funky mystery about a man who does very bad stuff for a living and then makes one mistake (or good deed, your choice) and the repercussions of that event. The book currently costs $9.34 but after coupon, it comes down to $6.54.

Walking into the Ocean by David Whellams is a British mystery that sounds right up my alley. After all, most my favourite mysteries have been British like Sherlock and Miss Marple. This book is to be the first in a set of three books about a veteran Scotland Yard Chief Inspector investigating serial killings in the pastoral lands of good ol’ England. The book retails for $7.18, but after coupon code, it comes down to $5.03.

There are many books to choose from, and it is always fun finding a new favourite author or a series you just cannot put down. Sure, there are the sleepless nights where you are up to 3am hovered over your eReader, but it is all worth it. This summer I joined Goodreads and I am keeping track of all the books I have read from now on. It is a nice way to look back and see what I have read and what I thought of it.

For this and any future Kobo coupon codes, always check our forum.

Kobo Books Canada: $0.99 Magazine Issues

Posted by on July 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Kobo Books Canada: $0.99 Magazine Issues

Kobo has a hot (sizzling even) deal on right now, where you can get one issue of a number of magazines for only $0.99. I love this deal because sometimes you just want some summer reading on the easy, and one issue is all you need. Paying less than $1 for an issue of a magazine is very sweet.

There are a number of magazines available for this promotion, and I’d like to pick up a few of them. I’m an avid magazine reader, although I still go the print way, but really I don’t know why. I can save so much money getting it on my tablet, plus save the environmental costs of printing it. Plus, I don’t have that extra clutter of the magazine lying around. I can also take my tablet with me and choose what I want to read, rather than a bulky magazine that I might forget (and always do). I don’t know how many times I’ve been at the park with my kids while they play wishing I had something to read instead of staring into nothingness.

Some of the ones I’d like to sink my teeth into include:

  • Cosmopolitan – you can’t beat this magazine for all the latest in sex and beauty
  • Oprah – pretty much my favourite mag
  • Real Simple – I love the recipes and organization tips
  • Self – great fitness and health and well-being articles
  • Esquire – while I wouldn’t need a subscription for this one for myself, I’d buy this issue just to hear Mark Wahlberg’s take on fatherhood

Bargainmoosers, what is your favourite magazine? Give me some ideas on what issues I need to get for $0.99, just in case the ones I’ve chosen aren’t enough!

Kobo Books Canada: Free First in Series Books!

Posted by on June 2, 2014 at 5:00 PM

Kobo Books Canada: Free First in Series Books!

If you love to read and also love a good freebie you are in luck right now. Kobo Books has a great deal on right now that will get you free eBook downloads with no purchase necessary. Get a big selection of “First in Series” books absolutely free for a limited time only.

You would think that there would be a limited selection because all of the free books are the first book in a series but you would be wrong.  There are actually over 100 titles to choose from and all of them are free of charge.  Additionally, there are so many different types of books for everyone’s tastes.  You will find free books for romance, thrillers, mystery, Sci-Fi, fantasy, horror and even erotica. There really is something for everyone with this freebie.

The great thing about this deal is that it is not just limited to one download.  You can download as many of these free titles as you would like.  I suggest getting the ones you are even not too sure about because who knows what price they will be after this deal.

This is the perfect way to start reading a new series on your eReader to see if you may like it. If you don’t know which ones you may like, each category has an editor’s pick to give you a little help. I have my eye on a couple of the First in Series books already to start reading.  Blood of Requiem written by Daniel Arenson is one of them that I have heard about and would love to read.  The other one I would love to read is actually already an editor’s pick.  In the romance section One Wild Night written by Jessie Evans looks like a great romantic read to me.

There are plenty more very known titles available but here are just some that stood out to me at a quick glance:

Now, if you haven’t yet seen Mockingjay, the second movie in the Hunger Games trilogy, then you’re definitely missing out on some great action. Not only should you hurry to the nearest movie theater to see it, but I also suggest you read the books first for the uniqueness of the story, which offers a fast-paced and interesting look into a post-apocalyptic scenario that essentially pits children against each other in a Mortal Kombat kind of way.

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Books for Teens & Kids

Posted by on March 5, 2014 at 10:30 PM

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Books for Teens & Kids

Kobobooks Canada is offering up to 70% off digital books for teens and kids.

You can get up to 70% off teen ebooks all month long. Some books are discounted even more than that. I found this book called Dr. Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets by Evan Roskos. The book was a 2014 Morris Award finalist and is the story of a boy dealing with an abusive father, a self-destructive sister, and working through his own anxiety and depression all the while channeling the famous poet Walt Whitman. Originally $18.99, the book is on sale for a really inexpensive $1.99.

Get up to 70% off kid ebooks as well. The Judy Moody was in a mood book costs only $1.99. Oddly enough they don’t have the starting price for the book on Kobo, but I looked it up on Amazon and it costs $6.65 there. This is a great introduction to the Judy Moody series and a pretty inexpensive way to try out something new. In the book, Judy is going in to third grade and must face the changes and the exciting new challenges about to come her way.

Check out these titles and more during the sale.

How many times have you heard the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover“? Well this time, don’t do it! All of the titles that you can save 30% on with the code above are lesser known books, but that certainly doesn’t mean that they’re any less worthy.

Take for instance The First Confessor: The Legend of Magda Searus, which you can get for $2.09 instead of $2.99. Out of over 4,000 reviews, it actually has a rating of 4.25 stars out of 5 on Goodreads along with 4.9 stars out of 5 on Amazon.ca. Granted, it’s Terry Goodkind’s 15th novel in the series, but it’s one you could technically start the series with, considering it’s a prequel to the entire story. There’s also the option of buying it just for the sake of saving money on it, and sinking your teeth into the first one in the series: Wizard’s First Rule.

I totally understand if you would rather read a book that is first in its series, or perhaps isn’t even in a series of titles at all, like this one: Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat To Dreamgirl: A Woman’s Guide To Holding Her Own In A Relationship. Certainly a most interesting title and subject for a book, but nevertheless an interesting one as the author, Sherry Argov, examines different scenarios such as to why men stop being romantic after a while, or why nice girls are taken for granted.

Is there a book you have been wanting to read for ages but just haven’t gotten around to? I’m always on the lookout for new titles to read, so be sure to share which one it is in the comments section! Personally, I’ve been holding off on reading the last book in Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series: Dead Ever After, because as much as I want to find out what happens, I just can’t believe it’s already over!

Plus, if you haven’t already bought the book you have been wanting to read and it’s not on the above list of books you can save on, then be sure to use this Kobo Books coupon to save 30% on all purchases.

Kobobooks: 14 Day Free Trial on Magazines

Posted by on January 7, 2014 at 9:30 PM

Kobobooks: 14 Day Free Trial on Magazines

Kobobooks is offering a free 14 day trial on magazines before you are billed. That gives you fourteen days to check out the magazine without a cent being taken off your credit card. If you do not unsubscribe within fourteen days, then you will be billed.

I really like this new option. There are many magazines I wouldn’t mind checking out but I am too busy to drop by my local magazine shop to leaf through them and see if they are actually what I want. This fourteen day trial window sort of replaces the ‘leaf through’ phase you enjoy at physical stores by letting you read the magazine first to see if it is what you want and giving you the option to pay nothing when you cancel your subscription. If the magazine isn’t what you are looking for then there is no money lost!

I am trying to find a really good fashion magazine because, hey, I love fashion! I have been considering  Vanity Fair but have never really read that magazine to know if they are what I am looking for. Rather then pay $5.20 for an issue so I can check it out, I can just subscribe for fourteen days and test it out. If I don’t like it, I can cancel.

The fourteen day trial is on the subscription, not on individual magazine purchases, so if you don’t cancel, you will be billed for a yearly subscription.

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Boxing Day Sale

Posted by on December 24, 2013 at 4:30 PM

Kobobooks: Up to 70% Off Boxing Day Sale

Kobobooks Canada has launched their Boxing Day sale early. Get up to 70% off books, up to 50% off indie fiction, and up to 30% off select magazine subscriptions.

In the 70% off section you can get deals on books like Bone and Bread which was $18.95 and is now on sale for $4.99. There are a lot of non-fiction, fiction, mystery, romance, and award winning books on sale for 70% off so if ebooks are on your wishlist – check out this sale.

Another feature of Kobo’s Boxing Day sale is the 50% off indie fiction with the coupon code 50COUPON. Indie novels are usually pretty cheap (the most expensive generally around $5.99) so this coupon will give you plenty of new reads for a very low price!

The really big deal I think in all of this is up to 30% off select annual magazine subscriptions! Kobobooks rarely offers any magazine deals so I am pretty pleased about this one. Popular Science is just $10.49 for a year subscription to the famous magazine. Even with this magazine being on sale at Zinio as well – Zinio’s price (once converted to CAN) is a couple dollars more. The magazines are already discounted and Kobo is not showing the original subscription prices right now but from what I have seen these prices are pretty good. I always suggest price comparing to make sure though.

Kobobooks Canada: Hunger Games Trilogy – Now $6.38 (Was $30.39)

Posted by on November 18, 2013 at 10:00 PM

Kobobooks Canada: Hunger Games Trilogy Now $6.38 (Was $30.39)

Kobobooks Canada has the Hunger Games Trilogy at a price that just can’t be beat unless you are stealing it, which is not recommended. The trilogy is currently listed at $30.39 and when you use coupon code 80Nvbr you get the entire trilogy for only $6.38.

With the second movie, Catching Fire, hitting theatres this month (November 22nd according to IMDB) you might want to brush up on your storyline if you have read the series before, or if you haven’t you might want to take a crack at the books beforehand. They have been an extremely popular series of books that is also producing an extremely popular movie trilogy so far. In fact, this year at my home university they are teaching Hunger Games in the children’s literature class along with books like The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, and Anne of Green Gables.

I bought my husband the Hunger Games trilogy from Kobobooks and he read it through the Kobo iPad app. I have never seen him read through three books so darn fast! If you do not have the Kobo app you really should check it out. It is really simple to have it installed in multiple devices like your tablet, phone, and your computer. It is also free and it is a great system for reading books on. My favourite feature is reading my books on a black background with white text.

Have you read The Hunger Games Trilogy? Are you looking forward to the second movie?
