Dragonsteel Entertainment: Brandon Sanderson’s The Emperor’s Soul eBook For Only $3 (Save $2)

Posted by on May 15, 2013 at 1:00 PM

Dragonsteel Entertainment: Brandon Sandersons The Emperors Soul eBook For Only $3 (Save $2)

Brandon Sanderson writes some of the best books out there today and you can get one of them for super cheap!

If you want to buy it, it’s available at this sale price at most eBook stores. Here are links to the Amazon Kindle (U.S. and Canadian) and Kobo stores.

First off, the book is normally $4.99 but this month it’s only $2.96. You save $2. This sale is directly from the books publisher, Dragonsteel Entertainment, so the price is actually the same (or similar) on any eBook store that carries it. I guess the two big ones in Canada would be Kobo and Amazon which both carry the book for about $3.

I have not read this book but I’ve read over a half dozen of Sanderson’s other books and they are great. If you’re into Epic Fantasy or, at this price, even if you aren’t, you have got to read his stuff. This particular book is a novella so it’s short and simple to get in to. MY first published book is a novella and I really dig the format. A lot of people, I think, disdain novellas because they think a shorter book is ripping you off. Sometimes the story just isn’t supposed to be that long and it just has to be a shorter format. My book is short because I used it as an intro to a bigger series. Just because a novella is short doesn’t mean that you’re getting a lesser story, the author is probably giving you exactly what you need!

So if you need a quick, awesome story, maybe for a plane ride or a car trip, this is a good choice!

Kobobooks Canada: Free Cover With Kobo Purchase

Kobo Books is offering a free cover with a Kobo Touch or Kobo Glo purchase at participating retailers. The free cover is up to a $30 value.

There are five retailers participating in this deal:

I could not find anywhere online where The Source, Future Shop, or Best Buy mentioned the free cover. It may only be just in-store offers for them. However, Chapters does mention the free cover and you do need to add the cover separately to your cart and it will come off.

For Staples, the instructions are very specific:

Add Item #982692 (KOBO Glo e-Reader, Pink) and one of the Heart and Soul Cover Skus listed below into your cart and type code 76471 in the Add/Edit Coupons section of the online checkout to redeem this free offer! – Ends 14th May 2013

Most the stores offer free shipping with a minimum ranging from $20 – $50. With the cost of a Kobo Touch or Glo you should certainly be getting free shipping with it no matter which retailer you choose.

    • Coupon Code: anniversary20

So many books to read, so little time. That’s my motto. I am a person who should have a Kobo. I read everything and everywhere. If I am sitting waiting somewhere without something to read, I go a little wonky. A Kobo would be perfect for me because I’d just take it out of my purse and start reading as much or as little as I can in the time I have. I think I’d even read it waiting in the line at the grocery store. Then I won’t have to read the glaring headlines that Lindsey Lohan is in rehab again, because that is something I really couldn’t care less about. I could actually read what really interests me. My seven-year-old is also an avid reader and I think this would be a great tool for him as well.

Here are some of the books I’d get with this promo code:

Safe Haven – I’m not normally a romance reader, but I’ve heard this book is amazing and a must-read. (Reg. $6.99, now $5.59)

Silver Linings Playbook – I just saw the movie and I now need to read the book. (Reg. $10.99, now $8.79)

Gone Girl – I’ve read the first chapter and then had to return it to the library. Everyone I know has sung this book’s praises. (Reg. $13.99, now $11.19)

The Body Reset Diet – Harley Pasternak shows me how to lose pounds without extreme diet or exercise. Sounds like my idea of a good time. ($14.99, now $11.99)

Canadian Freebie: Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code Free @ Kobo Books

Posted by on March 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM

Canadian Freebie: Dan Browns Da Vinci Code Free @ Kobo Books

Kobo Books Canada is offering The Da Vinci Code ebook by Dan Brown absolutely free for the next few days! This is a fun book to read and certainly a great freebie you don’t want to miss out on.

I am sure everyone has heard of this book! It was a bestseller when it came out in 2003 and caused quite the controversy due to its religious themes even though the book is, and always will be, fiction.

I read this book seven years ago, and as a sucker for a good mystery, I finished the book in two days flat! It was a fun read and perhaps even more fun because I am not Catholic so the huge religious undertones (and overtones) didn’t bother me. I know some people have taken issue with Dan Brown’s use of religion in his books… but I think it is an excellent setting for a mystery. As religion is based on faith, what better place to stage a mystery which is based on a lack of facts?

What some people have criticized, and what I actually rather liked about the book, is anyone can read it. You don’t need to have a dictionary on hand to define big scholarly words because an author thinks himself unable to write at the common level of understanding. This is where Dan Brown excels: he has wrote a fun and interesting novel that is of a reading level that anyone should be able to enjoy it. He also managed to write a book that heavily involves religious symbolism that even a non-religious person or someone from a different religion could enjoy.

So, if you like a good mystery or you like free books, I suggest picking up The Da Vinci Code for free.

Kobobooks Canada: Great Reads Under $4.99

Kobobooks Canada: Great Reads Under $4.99

Kobobooks has a fantastic selection of great reads under (or at) $4.99! I love this selection of reads because reading is an important part of self-education and this selection is fit for nearly any budget!

There are some pretty good books in this section from pretty famous authors. First on the list is Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons - a really popular book that was turned into a movie. I saw the movie, but never read the book. Priced at $3.99 there is no reason this can’t be on your reading list.

A book I am completely unfamiliar with called Fever Dream by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child has got great ratings – 4/5 with 9224 votes! Priced at only $1.99 it is really inexpensive.

Another relative unknown with fabulous ratings is Abandon by Meg Cabot. It will only cost you $2.69. 14,362 ratings give this book a 4/5 star rating. That is pretty darn impressive.
