Best Buy Canada: $100 Off All Apple iPad Airs + Free Gifts

Posted by on August 27, 2014 at 6:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: $100 Off All Apple iPad Airs + Free Gifts

Best Buy Canada is offering $100 off all Apple iPad Air tablets just in time for school. They also have oodles of fantastic promotions piled on top of this discount, including a free gift bundle with your tablet purchase (valued at $60) and more.

The best deal here is going for the smallest device. Purchase the Apple iPad Air – 16GB – Wi-Fi – Space Grey or Silver for only $419.99 instead of $519.99. I price compared with Staples, Apple, and Walmart who all have the iPad Air at full price (though Walmart is $1 cheaper than original full price). Apple Canada will be coming out with new iPad models this fall, thus I assume that Best Buy Canada is getting a head start by dropping their prices before other sellers.

Not only will you save $100 off your iPad, you will also receive a free Insignia tablet cleaner and six months of McAfee LiveSafe kit with the purchase of any iPad ($60 value). The tablet cleaner will be added to your cart and a promo code for the McAfee redemption will be emailed to you within two to four weeks of your purchase.

The savings do not stop there. You will receive 50% off any school supplies that you purchase with your tablet. This is a huge deal as Best Buy Canada already has good discounts on many school supplies. This Sharpie Neon 5-Pack Assorted Fine Point Markers is currently 50% off at only $4.95. Add the tablet to your cart first and then add the school supplies. When you add the sharpie pack, it comes down to $2.48. Take advantage of this discount on more expensive items like Desk Organizers and Dry-Erase Board Supplies.

There are several other promotions going on including:

The same $100 off iPad Air tablets offer is available at Future Shop Canada, but some of the bonus offers are different. They are not offering the extra 50% off school supplies for one thing, which makes this deal so alluring.

This promotion has many extra features to it that make it so much better than just $100 off an iPad. The extra 50% off school supplies is my favourite offer, and the free bundle with purchase is nice too.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Apple Canada: Get $25 iTunes Card When You Buy Apple TV

Posted by on August 15, 2014 at 1:30 PM

Apple Canada: Get $25 iTunes Card When You Buy Apple TV

As if you need another reason to want an Apple TV, buy one from Apple and you’ll be rewarded with a $25 iTunes card.

Considering every store has it for the $109 price that Apple is selling it for, I’d much prefer to buy it directly from the source – Apple – for two reasons. The first reason is the gift with purchase of the $25 iTunes card, which would be used very quickly in my house, but will give us a lot of music for free. Second, why would I buy from a secondary source when I can buy it directly from the company who makes it? This way I know if something happens to it, contacting them will be a breeze.

While I have something similar, it doesn’t really compare to Apple TV and what I love about it is that I can use iCloud to store my movies and music and play them on all my Apple devices. I also have about one million (probably not exaggerating) photos stored in iPhoto on my Mac, that would be great to put look at on my Apple TV. I can also make a movie using iMovie and watch it seamlessly on the big screen.

While this promotion is an awesome one, there is also another promotion for back to school. Avi blogged about this at the beginning of July, but you might want a refresh on the details. If you are going to post-secondary school, buy a Mac and you’ll get a $110 apple store gift card. Interestingly, this is exactly what the Apple TV costs. I’d really like to know if you bought the Mac, got the gift card, used it to buy the Apple TV and then got the free iTunes as well. That would be amazing. If you buy an iPad or iPhone, you’ll get a $55 gift card. Both the Mac and the iPad are also eligible for education pricing too, so if you are going back to school, I’m just full of deals for you. You don’t have to be going back to school to get the Apple TV deal.

All items over $75 qualify for free shipping.

Walmart Canada: $40 Off 16GB iPad Air – Now $478

Posted by on June 29, 2014 at 2:30 PM

Walmart Canada: $40 Off 16GB iPad Air Now $478

Looking for a new tablet? Walmart Canada is offering $40 off the 16GB iPad Air. Originally $518, the iPad Air is now on sale for $478 in either silver or space grey.

I would like to first point out that Walmart’s starting price is two dollars cheaper than most other websites, including Apple.ca. Apple has the iPad Air 16GB listed at $519 and both Future Shop and Best Buy have the same device listed for $519.99. Compared with these stores, you are saving $41 off Apple’s price and $42 off FS and BB’s price.

I really do not have to say why this is a deal: iPads go neither on sale very often nor for very high of a discount. Usually, base models (16GB) might have $20 taken off them and then the discounts goes up as the size and price rises. However, if you are after an iPad on a budget – it is often not budget friendly to go for a larger sized iPad just for the bigger discount. Either way you seem to be spending the same amount of money. Thus, it is best to buy the base models when they go on sale. This deal is also great for those averse to buying refurbished: you can still buy the brand new electronics you love for less.

The iPad Air has a 9.7″ touchscreen display, 64-bit A7 processor, Wi-Fi, iOS 7 OS, dual facing cameras, and an aluminum uni-body for extra durability. With access to the iTunes App store, you really are never bored when you have an iPad. Load your device up with productivity apps, games, music, videos, and more. Many apps are free, and sometimes you can find fantastic paid apps on sale as well.

Incredibly, the iPad Air only weighs one pound! Once you hold this baby in your hand, you will think all the others weigh a ton. I have never owned an iPad Air but my iPad 2 is really threatening to terminate its services lately so it will be on my list of tablets to feel up when the replacing needs to occur.

As per usual, you will receive free shipping from Walmart Canada. You can also put in your postal code and see if your local store has any in stock. If they do, then you might want to pick one up in store if you are in a hurry to get one in your hands.

Chapters Indigo Canada: Up To $50 Off iPad Air

Chapters Indigo Canada: Up To $50 Off iPad Air

Just in time for Father’s Day, get Dad a shiny new iPad Air but make sure to get it at Chapters Indigo to save up to $50!

Once you click on the link above, you will be brought to a page with a total of 15 iPads and although they might all look the same, they differ in two main aspects: storage space and colour. These are basically the choices you can make with regards to each:

  • Size: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB or 128GB
  • Colour: space grey or silver

Wi-fi is automatically included and you can choose whether you want it to also have cellular data, although additional charges would have to apply for the latter and you would need to get a plan.

I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t been the most consistent when it comes to Father’s Day gifts, sometimes even shopping at the very last minute for a gift that in hindsight, could have been a lot better with a bit more forethought. This year, however, I’m dedicated to really making an impact gift-wise, especially since this is the year that my father has also become a grandfather.

As such, I’m hoping an iPad will make up for all the years of bad gifts, or at least a good portion of them and more specifically, the one with 128GB and wi-fi. Regularly priced at $819, Chapters now has it on sale for $769, which is a $50 discount. With Wi-Fi on the rise in public space, I would say that cellular data on a tablet or iPad isn’t particularly needed for personal use but that is just my personal opinion. It could be useful for business use or for anyone on the road a lot.

As for a price comparison, all of Chapters’ prices are much lower than those offered by comparison. The iPad Air 16GB and just Wi-Fi, for instance, is $479 at Chapters, $501.19 at Best Buy and $518 at Walmart.

Plus, you won’t have to pay any shipping fees since all orders over $25 are automatically shipped for free.

Royal Bank Canada: Free iPad Mini With New Account

Posted by on April 14, 2014 at 11:30 AM

Royal Bank Canada: Free iPad Mini With New Account

Want a new iPad Mini free? Simply open up a new bank account at Royal Bank and they’ll give you. Of course, there are some restrictions and important details to know.

To get the free iPad, you need to open up one of two accounts. The first account is the Signature No-Limit banking account, which I actually used to have, and it was a great account. The monthly fee is $14.95, but if you have multiple products with RBC, you’ll get it for $10.95. It includes 15 free e-transfers, three free ATM fees, unlimited debits and much more.

The second account is the VIP banking account, which is $30 a month or $22.50 with a rebate on multiple banking services. You can send e-transfers, use ATMs and have unlimited debits, all included in your price. You’ll also be eligible for three other free bank accounts.

Once you’ve set up your account, you also must either set up two pre-authorized payments or have one regular payroll deposit go in. Once that happens, they’ll ship you your iPad Mini. You have until August 30th to get this done.

There are a number of FAQs, which you should read through first and one of the questions (which I had myself), was if I was a RBC bank account holder, but am no longer, do I qualify and yes you do, as long as you didn’t have an account before today (April 14th).

You can apply right online, or go into a branch.

Apple Canada: Refurbished 4th Gen 16GB iPad With Retina Display Only $339 (Save $60)

Posted by on April 2, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Apple Canada: Refurbished 4th Gen 16GB iPad With Retina Display Only $339 (Save $60)

While supplies last, you can be one of the lucky ones to secure a 4th generation 16GB iPad with Retina display in either white or black for just $339 at the Apple Store!

Available at the same price in either white or black, the fourth generation iPad features a 9.7″ Retina display screen, a 5MP iSight camera, 1080p HD video recording and up to 10 hours of battery life — basically, more than enough awesomeness to satisfy all of your techy needs!

Surprisingly, Future Shop actually has a non-refurbished version of this iPad for as high as $529.99, while Best Buy currently has it on sale for $399.99.

No matter which way you look at it, a good deal is a good deal even if the electronic in question is refurbished. As we have all mentioned on our blog before, refurbished electronics are nothing run away from, especially in the event of a good price and the great part about them is that if you’re planning to give the iPad as a gift, then the other person will have no way of knowing that it was ever refurbished! It can be your secret, although do make sure to let us in on it in the comments section if you get one and in which colour! Apple Canada: Refurbished 4th Gen 16GB iPad With Retina Display Only $339 (Save $60)

Since the Apple Store automatically applies free shipping on orders over $75, you also won’t need to pay any additional delivery charges! If you are having trouble finding the iPads since we can’t link you right to them, refer to Avi’s post for the directions.

The Source Canada Deal: Up To 93% Off GnarlyFish Folios for iPad 2 & New iPad

Posted by on March 30, 2014 at 7:30 PM

The Source Canada Deal: Up To 93% Off GnarlyFish Folios for iPad 2 & New iPad

The Source has a great deal on cases for the iPad 2 and the new iPad: you can get a GnarlyFish in either pink or purple for up to 93% off, but hurry because they are selling out fast and there is no word on when this deal might end!

Equally amazing deals, both of these folios have a $2 difference between them: while the pink one is on sale for $2.96 (reg. $39.99), the purple one is $4.96 (reg. $49.99).

Apart from the colours, they both appear to be exactly the same with the exact same imitation suede lining on the inside for ultimate screen protection. The best part about both of these iPad cases is that they can be folded to provide several different viewing angles. This means that if you’re watching a video on your iPad, then you can fold the case in such a way that the iPad stands up on its own on a flat surface without you having to hold it.

If I had an iPad, I would definitely get one of these, especially since you really can’t go wrong at that price! In fact, here’s what one reviewer had to say about the purple one:

I was so pleased with my purchase that I decided to order another one and the price and the service is awesome. I would recommend The Source to all of my friends and family.

Since shipping is at a flat rate of $4.99 per order, I would definitely suggest to have it shipped to the nearest The Source store near you to avoid paying any extra fees.

Sears Canada: Super Hero Earbuds up to 50% Off

Sears Canada: Super Hero Earbuds up to 50% Off

Sears Canada has a pretty cool electronics deal happening right now at their outlet store.  Save up to 50% on all super hero earbuds for a limited time only.

There are 9 different super heroes to choose from:

All earbuds are from the vintage collection, which is pretty cool. Each set is compatible with iPods, iPads and iPhones and they all have a 1 year warranty on them.

I have two boys so we have a lot of super hero items around the house.  My kids would go nuts for any of these earbuds and because they are priced so low right now, I may grab some to add to their Easter baskets.

As for the cost of shipping, you will get free shipping on orders of $99 or more.

Staples Canada: Free $40 Gift Card With Purchase Of An Apple iPad Air

Posted by on February 26, 2014 at 9:00 PM

Staples Canada: Free $40 Gift Card With Purchase Of An Apple iPad Air

Have you been eyeing the iPad Air? Then I definitely suggest you get it at Staples since for a couple of days only, you can get a $40 gift card at the same time!

Admittedly, this deal is particularly well suited for either frequent shoppers of Staples or those who can see themselves buying something from there in the near future. The reason for this is because if we look at the 16GB iPad Air, Staples has it in either silver or space grey for $519, while both Best Buy and Future Shop actually have this awesome gadget for close to $20 cheaper ($501.64) but if you see yourself shopping at Staples for anything at all, then you’re actually saving an additional $20 in either the short or long run.

As for specs, this awesome tablet has a 9.7″ screen, a dual-core A7 chip with an M7 processor and a 2048 x 1536 screen resolution. On top of the 16GB for $519, which I already mentioned earlier, Staples also has the 32GB for $619, the 64GB for $719 and the 128GB for $819.

Although I already have a tablet, if I were getting the iPad Air, then I would totally use the gift card to invest in the Zagg invisibleSHIELd screen protector, which is just $29.45. I had a similar one on my iPhone and it actually lasted me close to a year without peeling. The only reason I had to get a new one was because of the accumulated dirt but that’s a whole ‘nother story!

You also won’t have to worry about any shipping costs as both of these iPads ship for free.

Walmart Canada: Apple iPad 2 Only $323

Walmart Canada: Apple iPad 2 Only $323

Walmart has a sweet deal on an Apple iPad 2, now only $323 with a regular price of $398. I price compared at Apple, Best Buy and more and only found this model for $398 or more, so this is definitely a great deal, saving you $75!

It feels like everyone has an iPad these days, except me. I’d love to get one as I’m a big fan of Apple, as I type on my Mac computer that I’ve had for years and it still seems brand new. The iPad 2 has a thin and light design, with low power consumption, but a powerful system. The 10-hour battery lets you stay mobile for quite a while.

It has a front-facing and a rear-facting camera, so it is easy to get all your photos and HD videos, plus chat on FaceTime. I’m actually not a huge fan of FaceTime and find Skype a lot easier and more functional, but it is a nice feature to have on a phone or iPad.

This model is 16GB and has wi-fi. You can get it in white or black. Reading all the fantastic reviews of this machine, I see that someone was excited to buy theirs during Walmart’s anniversary sale and paid only $358. Sad for them that the iPad 2 is now $35 cheaper.

Both models were fully in stock online at time of writing.

As always, you’ll get free shipping from Walmart.

Shop.ca: Hipstreet iPad 2/3/4 Bluetooth Multimedia Keyboard Case Only $25 (Was $80)

Shop.ca: Hipstreet iPad 2/3/4 Bluetooth Multimedia Keyboard Case Only $25 (Was $80)

Shop.ca has a fantastic deal on a Hipstreet iPad 2/3/4 bluetooth multimedia keyboard case for only $24.99, was $79.99. As always, I price compared this baby for you and found it for $79.99 at The Source, $58.67 at Amazon, $38.88 at Canada Computers and $69.99 at Sears. As you can see, there is a wide range of prices, with none coming as close to as low as Shop.ca.

The only thing you really might want to know is that this case comes only in pink at Shop.ca, so depending on how you feel about colours, this case could or could not be for you. Personally, I love the pink as it is bright and cheery (and cheap!).

It is ultra thin and made out of durable aluminum, so it fits perfectly with your iPad. The bluetooth keyboard is simple to connect and has a long operating distance of 10 metres. The case automatically wakens and puts your iPad to sleep too. Can it do this with my kids too? A long lasting lithium battery comes with this item as well.

There are no reviews available on Shop.ca for this product, but there is one five-star rating.

Shipping is free too!

iGN: Free Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders Game For iPod Touch, iPad & iPhone

iGN: Free Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders Game For iPod Touch, iPad & iPhone

Boom! Another great iOS game for free from IGN!

IGN’s free game of the month is Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders and you get it for free! It’s a 4 1/2 star game and it costs $4.99 USD from iTunes. It’s $44.99 and looks like it’s worth every penny. Just look at this trailer for it. Pretty cool, huh? So it’s a WW2 Warplane Fighter game.

From IGM:

  • Participate in visceral dogfights, protect cities and fleets, bomb enemy structures and even fly through tunnels.
  • Fly in fully recreated cities with realistic weather, accurate atmospheric scattering with aerial perspective and highly detailed planes with interactive cockpits.
  • Invite your friends to play online, and choose between cooperative and competitive modes.

The game came out at the end of November 2012 but isn’t available on the Google Play Store right now. There are two other iterations of Sky Gamblers on the Google Play store (for free) so I picked them up and they are quite fun. They do a very good job at striking a balance between the casual game feel that makes games on your phone or tablet and a full fledged WW2 Warplane Simulator you’d play on a PC or Console.

Grab your code from IGM today and start playing!

IGN: Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour For iOS For Free (Was $7)

Posted by on January 12, 2014 at 10:00 PM

IGN: Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour For iOS For Free (Was $7)

IGN is at it again with another free iOS game! This time it’s Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour.

I got into the mobile gaming world probably six years ago when my Dad bought me an iPod Touch for Christmas. It was awesome because now I didn’t need to bring a console with me to play games. The games were good back then, but they weren’t great. It wasn’t exactly a full replacement for my beloved PSP. You could play doodle jump and do crosswords until your thumbs fell off, but you couldn’t get a “real” video game experience.

Games like Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour have come much, much closer to replacing a PSP or DS, and for many people it already has. I should mention here that, for me, a cell phone will never replace a hand held console. Unfortunately for Sony and Nintendo, a lot of people disagree. There is no wonder why; this game runs on the Havok Engine! Assassin’s Creed uses the Havok Engine. Just take a look at this game’s trailer and you’ll see what I mean.

Did you watch it yet? Good. See what I mean? Pretty intense, right?

You can get this wonder on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad for free from IGN all month! It’s normally $6.99.

iTunes App Store: Rayman Jungle Run iOS Game for Free (Was $3)

Posted by on January 1, 2014 at 2:30 PM

iTunes App Store: Rayman Jungle Run iOS Game for Free (Was $3)

Rayman is back in this awesome platformer for your iOS device!

This deal has me jealous. That’s an emotion I don’t often feel as an Android guy because, I mean, come on, I’m an Android guy. Right? Right. But this one has me jealous. Rayman Jungle Run is one of the top mobile games out there. It’s a bit older now so it’s not in the spotlight or anything but I did notice it recently when I was looking for another Ubisoft game.

I always notice Rayman though because Rayman is awesome. I remember playing Rayman way, way back when it came out in like 1995. That’s almost 20 years ago!! I feel so old. But a new breed of gamers are learning to love Rayman as much as I did with Rayman Origins on handheld, Rayman Legends on console and of course Rayman Jungle Run and Rayman Fiesta Run on mobile platforms.

The whole reason I’m jealous of the iOS crowd is that you can get it on your iPhone or iPad for free and I’m still stuck paying $2.99 like a sucker! Oh well, eventually I’m sure we’ll get a sale but until then, enjoy saving $2.99 you iOS jerks!

I love you all very, very much.
