Do you remember the classic Super Nintendo game Final Fantasy III? Well the real name of the game in Japan was Final Fantasy VI (6… Square loves using Roman numerals), mainly because we didn’t get Final Fantasy II, III, and V in North America at the time of this Super Nintendo game’s release (way back in 1994). Is it sad, or kind of cool that I could still remember when this game was first released? This was back in the days when my brother and I had a subscription to Nintendo Power (a classic video game magazine from Nintendo), so we knew about all the upcoming Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Game Boy game releases at the time.

What makes this iOS version so interesting is the fact that it has updated visuals. Just take a look at how sleek the visuals look now, especially when you compare it to the original Super Nintendo version. The graphics have been completely overhauled, and while everything is still 2-D, it’s just how the game was meant to be played. Plus, there’s some extra bonuses and new monsters thrown into this version of the game, which should please many fans.

I can honestly say that when I was a younger Ivan, this was my favourite video game for many years. I just might download this game, just to experience the new updated graphics on my iPad. Plus, I loved the storyline of the game, and it had some memorable characters and great gameplay (I still remember the characters and storyline twists, and I first played this game back when I was 9 years old). I highly recommend this game, especially if you’re an RPG fan.

I’ve included a snippet of a review of this game from Arcade Sushi below:

No matter what form it’s in, Final Fantasy VI is one of the best games in the history of the medium, with its fast-paced battles, humongous world to explore, fascinating characters and bold, original story.

Happy gaming, Bargainmoosers!

IGN Free Game Download: Ridge Racer Slipstream For The iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch ($2.99 Value)

IGN Free Game Download: Ridge Racer Slipstream For The iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch ($2.99 Value)

Any gamers out there that want to try out a free Ridge Racer game for their Apple device? Well IGN is currently having a promotion where you can now get a free download for Ridge Racer Slipstream for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch! This racing game normally costs $2.99, You can’t go wrong with a free game, especially when it’s from a reputable franchise. This isn’t just some no-name racer game – Ridge Racer has been popular on home consoles and arcades since 1995! Also, you won’t have to worry about paying any hidden shipping fees, since you’ll be downloading this game straight on to your Apple device!

The Ridge Racer series has been heralded by Namco for 2 decades as a can’t-miss racing game that anyone could enjoy. I first tried out Ridge Racer on my buddy’s Sony Playstation back when 3D graphics used to impress most people, and I loved how high-speed the racing was compared to another 3D racer that I was used to playing (Virtua Racing for the Sega 32X – it had its charm, but Ridge Racer was just so much funner in my opinion).

When I finally got my own Playstation system several years later, I ended up trying out R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, and for its time it had some amazing graphics! I guess that’s why I have an affinity for the Ridge Racer series… I get nostalgic whenever I hear the name! Ridge Racer Slipstream is a newer entry to the series, and it looks like it’s a lot of fun! Since this game is free, I highly suggest that you download it before this opportunity disappears!

Ridge Racer Slipstream normally costs $2.99 at The Apple Store. Listed below is a snippet of a review of this game from Touch Arcade:

This is a good, well-made Ridge Racer game for your mobile device. It plays the way it should, the content is fully accessible without paying if you have patience, and there’s a good amount in here with more likely to come.

Happy gaming, Bargainmoosers!

Google Play Store Freebies: Get Batman Arkham Origins & Assassin’s Creed Pirates For Free (Reg. $5 Each)

Google Play Store Freebies: Get Batman Arkham Origins & Assassins Creed Pirates For Free (Reg. $5 Each)

Looking for fun new games to play on your Android device? Then check out Batman Arkham Origins and Assassin’s Creed Pirates as both of these are free for a limited time on the Google Play Store. They usually cost $4.99 each to download.

Click here to download Batman Arkham Origins @ now

Click here to download Assassin’s Creed Pirates @ now

For all of you iOS users, don’t despair! Although there is no word on how long it has been free, looking around the App Store on my iPhone, I found that both of these are also currently free there as well with loads of reviewers posting how much they love both. In fact, I gave both games a whirl on my iPhone and  I have to say that I was the most impressed with the graphics and smoothness of the Batman game. For some reason, I initially thought that the Batman game would be more like The Simpson’s Tapped Out but it’s actually very different. Instead, you need to complete missions around Gotham City and luckily, there is a handy tutorial to teach you just how to do that. This is definitely the perfect game for any Batman fan and in fact, when I showed my hubby the game, he said: “this is pretty cool!”

It’s cool, indeed, especially since the next Batman game won’t be coming out until 2015, so at least in the meantime, there is something to keep you Batman fans appeased. Google Play Store Freebies: Get Batman Arkham Origins & Assassins Creed Pirates For Free (Reg. $5 Each)

Assassin’s Creed Pirates is slightly different but the concept is similar. It seems to me like although Batman Arkham Origins can easily be played on a phone, especially one as small as the iPhone, Assassin’s Creed, on the other hand, would be better suited on a tablet. When I first launched the game, it seemed very two dimensional but the very first task throws you right in the midst of the ocean and asks you to navigate a ship. The graphics definitely impressed me the most as I certainly didn’t expect as many details as there was in the scenery. One of the biggest differences between the PlayStation 4 and the third console was the level of details, such as random leaves rolling around, more pronounced waves in the ocean and in fact, I noticed the same kind of details when playing this game on my phone.

Both are definitely worth a download, especially since they’re free. Be sure to let us know in the comments section which game is your favourite!

iGN: Free Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders Game For iPod Touch, iPad & iPhone

iGN: Free Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders Game For iPod Touch, iPad & iPhone

Boom! Another great iOS game for free from IGN!

IGN’s free game of the month is Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders and you get it for free! It’s a 4 1/2 star game and it costs $4.99 USD from iTunes. It’s $44.99 and looks like it’s worth every penny. Just look at this trailer for it. Pretty cool, huh? So it’s a WW2 Warplane Fighter game.

From IGM:

  • Participate in visceral dogfights, protect cities and fleets, bomb enemy structures and even fly through tunnels.
  • Fly in fully recreated cities with realistic weather, accurate atmospheric scattering with aerial perspective and highly detailed planes with interactive cockpits.
  • Invite your friends to play online, and choose between cooperative and competitive modes.

The game came out at the end of November 2012 but isn’t available on the Google Play Store right now. There are two other iterations of Sky Gamblers on the Google Play store (for free) so I picked them up and they are quite fun. They do a very good job at striking a balance between the casual game feel that makes games on your phone or tablet and a full fledged WW2 Warplane Simulator you’d play on a PC or Console.

Grab your code from IGM today and start playing!

IGN: Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour For iOS For Free (Was $7)

Posted by on January 12, 2014 at 10:00 PM

IGN: Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour For iOS For Free (Was $7)

IGN is at it again with another free iOS game! This time it’s Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour.

I got into the mobile gaming world probably six years ago when my Dad bought me an iPod Touch for Christmas. It was awesome because now I didn’t need to bring a console with me to play games. The games were good back then, but they weren’t great. It wasn’t exactly a full replacement for my beloved PSP. You could play doodle jump and do crosswords until your thumbs fell off, but you couldn’t get a “real” video game experience.

Games like Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour have come much, much closer to replacing a PSP or DS, and for many people it already has. I should mention here that, for me, a cell phone will never replace a hand held console. Unfortunately for Sony and Nintendo, a lot of people disagree. There is no wonder why; this game runs on the Havok Engine! Assassin’s Creed uses the Havok Engine. Just take a look at this game’s trailer and you’ll see what I mean.

Did you watch it yet? Good. See what I mean? Pretty intense, right?

You can get this wonder on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad for free from IGN all month! It’s normally $6.99.

iTunes App Store: Rayman Jungle Run iOS Game for Free (Was $3)

Posted by on January 1, 2014 at 2:30 PM

iTunes App Store: Rayman Jungle Run iOS Game for Free (Was $3)

Rayman is back in this awesome platformer for your iOS device!

This deal has me jealous. That’s an emotion I don’t often feel as an Android guy because, I mean, come on, I’m an Android guy. Right? Right. But this one has me jealous. Rayman Jungle Run is one of the top mobile games out there. It’s a bit older now so it’s not in the spotlight or anything but I did notice it recently when I was looking for another Ubisoft game.

I always notice Rayman though because Rayman is awesome. I remember playing Rayman way, way back when it came out in like 1995. That’s almost 20 years ago!! I feel so old. But a new breed of gamers are learning to love Rayman as much as I did with Rayman Origins on handheld, Rayman Legends on console and of course Rayman Jungle Run and Rayman Fiesta Run on mobile platforms.

The whole reason I’m jealous of the iOS crowd is that you can get it on your iPhone or iPad for free and I’m still stuck paying $2.99 like a sucker! Oh well, eventually I’m sure we’ll get a sale but until then, enjoy saving $2.99 you iOS jerks!

I love you all very, very much.

December 7 Get Infinity Blade II For iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch For Free

Posted by on December 7, 2013 at 1:30 PM Get Infinity Blade II For iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch For Free

Nothing says merry Christmas like killing folk in Infinity Blade II on your iOS device for free from IGN!

Infinity Blade is a big deal on iOS. People go nuts over this game, to the point where there are books based on the game. The game is basically an on-rails fighting game and, from what I understand from playing its clones on Android, it really takes advantage of the touch screen interface. Yeah, that’s right, it isn’t on Android. So, for all you people out there who roll their eyes every time I passive-aggressively attack Apple, here is your chance to point out that when it comes to Infinity Blade games, iOS is superior. I admit it, there!

Here is the Infinity Blade II trailer:

Intego: Exclusive 30% off with Exclusive Coupon Code

Intego: Exclusive 30% off with Exclusive Coupon Code

Get 30% off everything Intego has to offer!

Click here to show @ now

  • Coupon Code: MOOSE2013
  • Discount: 30% off
  • Expiry: 1st January 2014

First off, when my boss told me about this deal she also sent along this disclaimer which I will quote directly.

While it’s a 30% discount for almost everything on site (excluding Washing Machine 2014, their latest edition), it might not work out to be the best code to use on everything.

E.g. if you’re only buying a 1 year subscription to Intego, the standard offer they have on site is $59.99 – our coupon actually takes 30% off the regular price of $89.99, making it $62.99 – so DON’T use the coupon on that. But on certain other product combos, it can work out more beneficial. E.g. The Intego Mac Premium bundle for 2 years – this coupon code brings it down from $164.99 to $115.49 – so a definite saving there.

That pretty much covers the deal. So what does Intego sell? Intego sells software for your Mac and, more precisely, security software for your Mac. They even have an iOS AV program. Do you run a business with Apple computers? They have business solutions too. It’s all yours for 30% off with our exclusive coupon code!

For all the Intego deals we have to offer, check out our Intego Coupon Code page!

Umano: FREE Android & iOS App – Get Articles Read To You

Posted by on July 21, 2013 at 10:30 PM

Umano: FREE Android & iOS App Get Articles Read To You

Stop using your eyes like a sucker and start having the articles you want to pumped directly into your ears, for free!

Umano is a pretty cool app/service I found a while ago and thought that, since it’s free, I’d share it with you. Basically, this is like audiobooks for the best articles on the internet. If you already dig or one of the other great audiobook services out there, just stop reading and go get this app. You’ll dig it.

If you’re not into audiobooks, you should still stop reading and check this out, but I’ll continue for you skeptics out there. The people at Umano curate both the narrators as well as the articles, so you only get interesting content read by quality readers. You won’t get a crack-voiced fourteen-year-old reading about the best ways to farm gold in WoW.

Instead you’ll get an article about Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners read by part-time actor Dwight Equitz. Or, a story from The Verge about how two people became the voices of 110 airports and the NYC subway system read by Tom Fazio, who has been doing voice-work since 1985. The articles, as you can see, range from serious, to fun and everything in between.

The app and service are free for Android and iOS, so you can go download it right now and start listening to your favourite article for nothing!

TeamSnap: Free Trial Premium Account Of The Best Way To Manage Your Team

TeamSnap: Free Trial Premium Account Of The Best Way To Manage Your Team

This is the best thing to come to sports teams since the invention of teamwork by the great co-operator, Heinrich T. Von Eamwork, and you get to try the premium version for FREE!

I very rarely get excited for new apps, especially when they are tied to services I have absolutely no use for, but this is just really cool. Basically, what TeamSnap is, is a service that lets you manage your sports team. You can mass message them to tell them of changes to practices and games, see who is available and not available, check weather, share team photos, manage team fees, see who is bringing the team snacks, manage stats and organize contacts.

It’s really quite remarkable what they have done with this service and the corresponding free Android and iOS apps. It’s very well thought out and they seem to have thought of everything you could ever need to run a team. It’s innovation like this that makes the app economy viable.

The service is totally free, but you can upgrade to Basic ($6.95/month or $55/year per team) or Premium ($9.95/month or $79/year per team). When you sign up for their free service you get a free trial of their Premium service for FREE!

Do you coach a team? Let me know in the comments below!

IGN Canada: Free Copy Of Plants vs. Zombies HD For iOS

Posted by on June 23, 2013 at 5:30 PM

IGN Canada: Free Copy Of Plants vs. Zombies HD For iOS

Plants vs. Zombies is one of the best selling games to ever hit iOS, and right now it’s yours for free!

To get the deal, visit the appropriate link above – iPad or iPhone/iPod Touch – and follow the instructions there. The game is normally $0.99, but you get it for free! This coupon code is valid in Canada only, so the few non-Canadians who have undoubtedly wandered here, you’re out of luck.

Like I mentioned above, this game is one of the top selling games ever on iOS. I read somewhere recently that it was the third highest grossing app ever. I can’t find that article anymore, so I could be wrong, but I’m sure it has sold a ton. The premise is simple: Zombies are trying to invade your house via your yard and you have to plant various flowers, vegetables and mushrooms to kill the zombies. It’s addictive, and the extra play modes will keep you busy for a long, long time.

The reason, likely, that you’re getting this game for free is that Plants vs. Zombies 2 is about to be released in July. It’s another one of those sales that is meant to get you excited for the sequel by giving you the original. It’s a trend I’ve been seeing lately and it’s awesome!

What’s your favorite mobile game? Let me know in the comments below!

Amazon Canada: Up To 25% Off Bose Sound Docks & Speakers

Amazon Canada: Up To 25% Off Bose Sound Docks & Speakers

Amazon Canada is offering up to 10% off Bose Speakers and as much as 25% off Bose Sound Docks!

So first things first, the sale shows that the docks are only up to 20% off, but there is clearly a 25% off item on there, so I don’t know if someone just messed up or what. Regardless, it’s a good thing. Everything on here is over $25 and sold through Amazon Canada, so it all ships for free.

Here are a few of the products on sale:

Anywho, Bose has been around making some great, high end audio equipment for almost 50 years now. Being considered a higher end consumer sound product means that they are more expensive, so getting deals like this is a great way to beef up your sound system without breaking the bank. The Sound Docks are iPod/iPhone compatible.

November 30 Get a Great Game for Your Mobile Device AND Donate to Fight Epilepsy for FREE!

Posted by on November 30, 2012 at 2:00 AM Get a Great Game for Your Mobile Device AND Donate to Fight Epilepsy for FREE!

The best kind of charitable donation is the one that you don’t have to pay to donate to… and the one that gives you a free game… Hmm. That sounded far more snappy in my head…

This freebie is super awesome. You visit this site on your mobile device (Android or iOS only) and you are forwarded to the Apple App Store or the Google Play store. Once you’re there you will get a FREE game from the fine human beings at AND $1 will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation of America. This all happens, as I mentioned above, for FREE. You don’t pay for the game, you don’t pay for the donation.

A couple of things you need to know. For the donation to go through, you need to visit on your mobile device and get the app that way. The site will automatically forward you to the Apple store or the Google store. If you just get the game through the App Store or the Play Store, you will not be making a donation. Make sure you do it on your iOS or Android device via the website.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you have multiple Android or iOS devices (I have five Android devices, soon to be six) you can get the game and donate a dollar by visiting the site on each device. Don’t just send the app to your other devices from one device or log in and get it from iTunes, make sure you visit the site on each device! While you’re at it, grab the devices of other people around you and download the game for them. If they are really mad about it, they can uninstall it and you can bask in the knowledge that you forced them to donate money without them even knowing about it!

Notice how I’ve conveniently not mentioned the name of the game. That’s because I want you to go to the website and make a FREE donation to figure out what the game is! Intriguing, isn’t it!?
