Fun & Frugal: Ice-Cream in a Bag!

Posted by on July 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM

Fun & Frugal: Ice Cream in a Bag!

A couple of days ago, I shared a delicious coffee crunch ice-cream recipe here, a handy little concoction for the summer. And this morning on Pinterest, I was looking for ideas for the kids during the summer, and I saw this idea – ice-cream in a bag! It’s a really easy recipe to make, plus you can have a little fun in doing so.

Basically, just throw these ingredients in a small Ziploc bag then seal it up:

  • A 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 and a 1/2 teaspoons sugar

Then, grab yourself a larger Ziploc bag. Put the first bag in there, and then fill with ice cubes and seal it up. Throw the bag around the yard for ten minutes, giving it a good shake. You can play catch with the kids! Once it’s all mixed up, it’s ready to eat.

Baskin Robbins Printables: BOGO 50% Off Sharknado Ice Cream & $3 Off Holiday Cakes

Baskin Robbins Printables: BOGO 50% Off Sharknado Ice Cream & $3 Off Holiday Cakes

Mmmm ice cream… the picture above is definitely enticing you to run to the nearest Baskin Robbins to get some right? I’m just kidding, but below are two printable coupons: the first for a “buy one, get one 50% off” deal on Sharknado ice cream and the second for a $3 discount on holiday cakes.

When I get started on going out for ice cream, I can’t stop going and start craving it on a near daily basis. So any discount is definitely very welcomed, especially on the Sharknado ice cream.

It’s currently Baskin Robbins’ flavour of the month and it features salted caramel, chocolate covered potato chips, chocolate-covered pretzels and chocolate-coated candy pieces — that’s a whole lot of of chocolate-covered munchies, all combining into a very flavourful mix.

Have you tried the new chocolate-covered Lays yet? They’re quite scrumptious, so if you have tried it, then you can just imagine how tasty this new ice cream is as well. In fact, it has a 3.5/5 rating on Baskin Robbins’ site.

In fact, here’s what Ian Ziering, star of the movie “Sharknado”, had to say about this ice cream on the Burbank News:

“It’s a kitchen sink of snacks,” Ziering said, riffing from behind the counter. “It’s a Snacknado.”

The other coupon is for a $3 off a holiday cake. Easter is coming up, so if you’re looking to get a cake for the little ones, then this would be a great printable coupon to take advantage of, but it could also be great for birthdays. The Baskin Robbins’ printable coupon doesn’t specify if there are any exclusions with regards to the kind of holiday cake that you can get but my assumption is that nearly any cake should be good to save on. The only condition is that it must be over $25.

Dairy Queen Canada: Miracle Treat Day

Posted by on August 14, 2014 at 7:30 AM

Dairy Queen Canada: Miracle Treat Day

Today is Miracle Treat Day! That means that today you can indulge yourself in ice cream and feel really good about it.

You might be wondering what all this means. Well, Miracle Treat Day is where all of the proceeds from your Blizzard purchase at Dairy Queen are donated to the Children’s Miracle Network. The Children’s Miracle Network raises funds for children’s hospitals all over the world, with 14 in Canada. Your donation (of buying a blizzard) will stay in your local community and will go to the closest Children’s Hospital near you. I’m not 100% sure, but I think I remember going to Miracle Treat Day once and the hospital to which the donations will go was listed in the store. It looks like there is a children’s hospital located in every province that is part of this network.

In case you aren’t sure what a blizzard is, I’m sorry you’ve missed out all these years, but I’ll tell you about its delicious goodness. I’m pretty picky with my ice cream and am usually willing to pay top dollar for the best ice cream (like $6 for those little tiny Haagen Daaz containers). I absolutely love blizzards. They are soft serve ice cream mixed with whatever toppings you choose. Unlike a McDonalds McFlurry, I find you get the toppings mixed right in all the way to the bottom. On a McFlurry, the bottom is just ice cream and disappointing.

My favourite blizzard is skor and oreo together, but there are so many flavours and flavour combinations, like oreo cheesecake, chips ahoy, reese peanut butter cup, choco cherry love and s’mores.

What flavour will you get?

Marble Slab Canada Freebie: BOGO Ice Cream Cones – July 20th Only

Posted by on July 19, 2014 at 10:00 PM

Marble Slab Canada Freebie: BOGO Ice Cream Cones July 20th Only

What do you have planned tomorrow? Whatever it is, you better make sure to swing by a Marble Slab store as well because they’re hosting a BOGO event on all cones! Stop by any Marble Slab between 11am and 2pm on Sunday, July 20th 2014, to take advantage of a “buy one, get one free” deal on all ice cream cones.

Although it’s a BOGO deal, this promotion only extends to the regular size for the free cone. This means that you need to get either a regular or larger sized ice cream cone in order to get a second one of regular size for free.

Marble Slab’s promotion is actually in celebration of both Ice Cream Day and Ice Cream Month. As it turns out, President Reagan proclaimed the month of July to be national ice cream month with the third Sunday being national ice cream day and since Marble Slab was founded in Houston, Texas, this promotion makes total sense.

Although there are no Marble Slab stores where I live, I’m still super excited about Marble Slab’s offer for all of you who can enjoy it, especially since it features unlimited mix-ins. I’m a huge fan of Dairy Queen and have been getting a chocolate extreme blizzard a little too frequently this summer but the charge for extra ingredients is definitely a big turn-off.

At Marble Slab though, you can choose among 20 different mixins to add to your ice cream cone like bananas, brownie bits, Butterfinger, chocolate chips, cookie dough, Oreo cookies, sparkles, etc. Heck, you can even add strawberries!

Be sure to also snap a picture of your cone and hashtag it #MSCHappyHour to be entered to win 1 of 2 $10 gift cards. It may not be the best contest prize ever but it’s still better than nothing, especially since it’s a super easy one to fulfill!

Did you know that Bargainmoose’s forum is frequently updated with all of Marble Slab’s latest printable coupons? Be sure to sign up to get all of their coupons delivered straight to your inbox as soon as they are released. In fact, Marble Slab frequently makes coupons available for discounts on ice cream cones, ice cream cakes, smoothies and many others.

Moosers, what is your favourite flavour of ice cream at Marble Slab? And which mixins do you choose?

6 DIY Ice Cream Recipes That Will Save You Money By Making Your Own

I love, love, love ice cream. Any kind of ice cream and I’ll eat it, although it needs to be good quality. My husband tried to save the other day and bought us an ice cream litre that was only $2 and it was just not creamy, tasted too sugary and the cookie dough pieces had a weird texture. I recently bought myself an ice cream maker, like the one Elizabeth posted the other day. Although mine was only $30, so really not at all like this one. I have yet to use it, but I decided this summer, I’m going to make ice cream once a week with the kids as a fun thing to do and a way to save money from buying those tiny cartons of Haagan Daaz or going to Marble Slab.

Marble Slab Printable Coupons: 4 Cones For $14

Marble Slab Printable Coupons: 4 Cones For $14

I really needed to talk to you about these Marble Slab printable coupons. There are so many great deals on here for ice cream and ice cream cakes, one being that you can get four cones for $14.

There is a moral to my story. Last time Marble Slab had similar coupons out, I printed them out and took my family of five to get some ice cream. Two of my boys shared one cone, because there is so much ice cream, I can barely eat it all, never mind a three-year-old eating it all. We spent $14 plus tax. The other day my son had a friend over and we decided to go for ice cream and had no coupons. We bought ice cream for the six of us and it came to $38! I could have gone out for dinner for that. Moral of the story: don’t go to the ice cream shoppe without coupons.

I absolutely adore Marble Slab and am going to be super sad when I don’t have one in a very close proximity of my house once I move. I love that you can now get as many mixins as you’d like so I get so many to fill up my delicious and homemade ice cream in a waffle cone.

If you aren’t taking the whole family, there are deals for you too, like two cones for $8, two sundaes for $8 and buy one, get one cone for $0.99.

If you are into cakes for graduation, Canada Day or just because who doesn’t love ice cream cake, upi cam get $5 off any cake or $10 off a slab size cake.

If you just want to take ice cream home, you can do that too and get three litres for $20 or two half-litres for $12.

Always check for Marble Slab coupons in the forum before you head out for your ice cream fix!

Ben & Jerry’s: Free Cone Day

Ben & Jerrys: Free Cone Day

Free ice cream! Did I get your attention? I should hope so! Ben & Jerry’s has its annual Free Cone Day tomorrow, where you get a free ice cream cone.

Ever since 1979, Ben & Jerrys has been giving away free ice cream to say thank you to their fans. While there aren’t a lot of locations located in Canada, if you do have one near you, go and get your free ice cream.

Sadly, I can’t say that I’ve had Ben & Jerrys ice cream. I think this really is a travesty as I am a huge ice cream fan and probably don’t know what I’m missing. When I check out their list of flavours, pretty much all of them want to be in my belly, but the ones that really stand out include chunky monkey, chocolate peanut butter swirl and coconut seven layer bar. Oh, and butter pecan. And I can’t forget chocolate fudge brownie. Or milk & cookies. Ok, they all stand out. Get in ma belly!

The deal doesn’t say what size of cone or what flavour, so if you know or you find out, let me know!

  • Expiry: 13th April 2014

I absolutely adore Marble Slab. I am all about candy and other fixins (or mixins as they like to call them) in my ice cream. I am also about fresh made ice cream and waffle cones. Marble slab has it all. We are actually heading there as a treat with the kids today, so I’m going to have to check for printable coupons before I go.

With this coupon code, you have until April 13th to order, but until the end of the month to pick up. There are a number of different cakes and other items you can order online to go like custom cakes, layered ice cream cakes, and low-fat yogurt cakes. Their themed cakes are the best and perfect for any special occasion. I’m totally getting the Oh Canada one for July 1st.

And because ice cream cakes aren’t enough, they also have ice cream cupcakes and pies. I think the cupcakes would be perfect for a small child’s birthday party as there is no cake cutting and they are the perfect size for little hands. And besides, who doesn’t love a cupcake?

Marble Slab Printable Coupons: Save On Ice Cream Cones, Cakes And Much More!

Marble Slab Printable Coupons: Save On Ice Cream Cones, Cakes And Much More!

Marble Slab has just released a whole bunch of brand new printable coupons for you to enjoy throughout the entire month of April 2014!

With 12 Marble Slab coupons in total, you can save on the purchase of ice cream cones, banana splits, cakes, sundaes, milkshakes and litres of ice cream! Below is a short list of some of the deals you can get:

  • 2 cones for $8
  • $5 off any large or layed cake
  • BOGO on all regularly-sized cones
  • $4 shakes
  • 2 half litres for $10

Sadly, I can’t actually attest to the deliciousness of Marble Slab ice cream, cakes and milkshakes because there aren’t any stores in Quebec, where I’m located, but it sure looks absolutely tasty and it’s not like you can ever go wrong with ice cream!

As Krista wrote about it a couple of days ago, you can also customize your ice cream by adding an unlimited amount of mixins, though I wouldn’t necessarily recommend adding all of them — but if you do, make sure to take a picture and send it to us with how it tasted!

Marble Slab Canada Printable Coupon: 4 Cones For $14

Marble Slab Canada Printable Coupon: 4 Cones For $14

Take the family for ice cream this Family weekend and it won’t cost you more than $14. Get four cones – two medium and and two small for only $14.

With over 50 flavours and 20 mixins – healthy and not so – you can customize your freshly-made ice cream for the perfect treat. We love going to Marble Slab because I am a big candy in my ice cream person. I personally choose reese peanut butter cups and marshmallows and I love their coconut or maple ice cream. My kids almost always go for chocolate, except one of my sons who is partial to the birthday cake flavour.

I’m not sure what the regular price of four cones would come to but I’m going to assume it would be quite a bit more than $14. I have three kids and I know we spend at least $25 when we go, so this is quite the savings.

Simply print, then clip your coupon and surprise your kids this weekend with a fun treat that will get them to clean their rooms.

All of our Marble Slab coupons are stored in the forum.

Marble Slab Printable Coupon: Litre of Ice Cream For $5 (In-Store Only)

Posted by on January 15, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Marble Slab Printable Coupon: Litre of Ice Cream For $5 (In Store Only)

Enjoy the nice January weather with a tub of ice cream from Marble Slab Creamery!

We don’t have a Marble Slab here. I mentioned this before and it stinks. It stinks now and it stunk then. Whatever. I’ll live. But I’ll have to live without ice cream and, really, is that living at all?

First off, since I don’t have a Marble Slab here and they are all independently franchised and (I suspect) individually priced, I can’t really price compare. I did a bit of looking around and it seems like the one litre tub of ice cream is usually $10+. I’m interested to hear from you fine folks – what does a one litre tub of Marble Slab cost where you are?

So the deal is for one litre of ice cream for $5. You have to get it in store and it doesn’t include the mix ins. That last part, the no mix ins part, even though it makes sense, is annoying. I go to the Marble Slab competitor we have here locally specifically because it’s great ice cream but the toppings are mixed in. By hand. Well, by metal spatula things that are held by hands.

I’m naturally happy and never look at the negative side of things so let’s put a positive spin on this no mix-ins travesty. This way you can make your own set of heart stopping mix-ins. Got some candy canes left over? Mix in! The store bought brownies they mix in just aren’t cutting it? Mix in some home made brownies! How about that puny spoonful of M&Ms they mix in? How about a whole bag of M&Ms?

What are you going to mix in? Let me know in the comments below!

Marble Slab Creamery Canada Printable Coupon: Buy 1 Cone, Get 1 Free

Marble Slab Creamery Canada Printable Coupon: Buy 1 Cone, Get 1 Free

Cool down from all the hot BargainMoose deals with some ice cream from Marble Slab.

I’ve got to imagine that places like Marble Slab see some serious decline in business when winter hits. This is a great way to get some people into your store and realize that you can still eat ice cream during the winter, it’s true; Especially after a long day of last minute Christmas Shopping.

We don’t have a Marble Slab where I am (apparently every other place does) but we have one of their competitors. The whole thing with these kinds of places is that they have awesome ice cream, but the toppings are mixed in. Where you might get ice cream with Oreos crumbled on it at a regular ice cream place, these guys mix it in. The whole “Marble Slab” name is because they put the ice cream on a refrigerated marble slab, put the toppings on the ice cream, then mash it all together. It’s awesome and, with this coupon, it’s super cheap!

Marble Slab Canada July Sweet Deals: $0.10 Dipped Cones & More

Marble Slab Canada July Sweet Deals: $0.10 Dipped Cones & More

Sorry, I’m going to write about ice cream again, but you know you want me to. Marble Slab has some great deals for July on their fresh-made, totally delicious ice cream.

The reason I had to apologize is that you are going to want to get ice cream three times a week for the month of July. With these totally awesome offers, you won’t be able to resist. In fact, because it is Thursday, I’m heading there after my son wakes up from his nap.

Every Tuesday Marble Slab is offering $0.10 mixins. If you don’t know what mixins are, they are candy and other assorted goodies that you can mix right into your ice cream. They way they mix it on the marble slab actually gets all the goodies right into your ice cream, unlike a place like McDonalds where all your cookie loving is only at the top, with nothing on the bottom. Here are some of the delicious choices for mixins:

  • Bananas
  • Blueberries
  • Brownie
  • Butterfinger®
  • Bubblegum
  • Caramel
  • Cherries

That’s just a small portion of the list!

Every Wednesday is double stamp day. If you have a Marble Slab card (or you can get one), you’ll get two stamps for every purchase, rather than one. Once you have eight stamps, you’ll get a free cone. For my family of five, I’ll basically be able to buy a cone for four of us and get the last one free!

Every Thursday (that’s today) you’ll get $0.10 dipped cones! You have to buy a medium ice cream or low-fat yogurt cone for each 10 cent cone, but that is still a great deal. If you have two adults and two kids, you’ll basically pay $0.20 for the kid’s ice creams.
