Free Tracks Of The Week @ HMV Digital

Over at HMV Digital, did you know that you can download a free music track every week? Click through, then go to the “free track of the week” link in the left hand side.

This week, you can download Resolution by Emok, Ticon, for free. It comes up at $0.00 and you can download it right away. I’ve never heard of the track or the artist before, but I just downloaded it to see what it was like.  It comes as an mp3, so easy to use, you can just play it on your computer.

So, keep an eye on the free tracks each week and see if there is something you are interested in nabbing.

And just in case you are interested, you can buy other tracks starting at $0.99… (Thanks ferrari)

Movies on my list to acquire this year include Tron: Legacy, Gnomeo & Juliet, and Despicable Me. Enjoed all three of those movies immensely. I am totally addicted to the song Hello from the Gnomeo & Juliet soundtrack. I keep on playing the clip on itunes over and over!

HMV: $20 off $100 Printable Coupon

Posted by on January 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM

HMV: $20 off $100 Printable Coupon

Part of HMV’s Saturday deals, you can print off the following coupons and get great savings in store. On Saturday the 22nd:

These printable coupons are valid on the 22nd of January 2011 (Saturday) only.

You might think $100 is a lot to spend at HMV, but if you team up with some friends, it isn’t much. Also if you are in to gaming: new games tend to cost a pretty penny and $20 off $100 could save you some serious dough. Or if you are looking at a new console… that is a decent discount.

HMV: $10 off $60 Printable Coupon

HMV has Saturday only deals running this month in store. unfortunately I forgot to post this for the 8th, but you still have the 15th and 22nd to take advantage of. This Saturday the deals are:

These printable coupons are valid on the 15th of January 2011 (Saturday) only.

I think it would be very easy to spend $60 at HMV, and they generally have decent prices. With such a wide selection of music, video games, movies and TV series there is something for every flavour. I’m not sure what their t0shirts are like, but I noticed recently they got more into pop-culture tees which might be of interest to some.

HMV: WII Console with Wii Sports only $99.99

Posted by on January 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM

HMV: WII Console with Wii Sports only $99.99

This is an in store deal but you can reserve online or rush in store (and I would do it quick if you want one). You can get a Wii console with Wii Sports for only $99.99! Wow!

There were 0 in stock in two stores near me, and 1 available at a 3rd store.. these babies are going like hot cakes. I had trouble getting HMV to find stores so I would go into my account and change my store preference to different ones around the city so it would find them when I went back to the item. On other sites the cheapest I could find this combination was $157.

The Wii looks like so much fun, especially for families with kids… or grandkids!

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs: $14.99 at HMV in Blu Ray

Posted by on June 4, 2010 at 1:00 PM

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs: $14.99 at HMV in Blu RayCloudy with a chance of Meatballs is a great family movie I just happened to see on a flight back in January, twice. I love the animation and the humour, and it was just one of the most enjoyable relaxing movies I had sen in a while!

Right now, HMV.ca is advertising Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs on Blu Ray: a 2 Disk DVD set for $14.99. That price is even cheaper than the regular 2 Disk DVD (non-blu ray) set which is going for $29.99 currently at HMV. Amazon.ca is out stock of the blu-ray 2 disk set, and Best Buy is charging $32.99 for the exact same Blu Ray set!

Though you can’t buy DVDs at HMV.ca you can sign up for an account and put a DVD on reserve at your local store, for pick-up within 7 days. They will then call you to confirm the DVD is indeed available (hasn’t been sold between your request and them checking their email/database) and you bring in your email as confirmation when you pick it up. I just picked up mine yesterday and had no problems!

Rotten Tomatoes, a movie review site I like to use, gave Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs a 86% ‘Certified Fresh’ Rating (which you just don’t see everyday!). They said the following about Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs:

Quirky humour, plucky characters and solid slapstick make this family comedy a frenetically tasty time at the movies.

HMV Canada: DVD Trade-In Deal

HMV Canada: DVD Trade In Deal

If you have any old DVDs gathering dust, there’s an opportunity to do a bit of a deal with HMV Canada, for upgrading your collection! For any DVD which you trade in, you will get a $5 credit towards the purchase of a specially stickered blu-ray movie.

Some points about the promotion:

  • 1 DVD trade-in = $5 discount towards a specially stickered blu-ray title
  • 1 DVD trade-in per blu-ray purchase
  • Boxsets credited as 1 trade-in
  • HMV reserves right to refuse trade-in
  • 400 blu-ray titles to choose from

From the above T&Cs, it’s clear that HMV have the final choice as to whether to accept your trade-in or not. But, if you are hoping to build up your blu-ray collection, then it’s worth a shot!

This info was taken from an in-store flyer, and the deal is due to start on the 10th of January, and runs right through to the 27th February 2010. Let us know how you get on!

HMV Boxing Week Sales (E.g. Dark Knight DVD For $9.99!)

Posted by on December 24, 2008 at 12:44 PM

There are so many Canadian Boxing Day deals being posted all over the web. The choice is overwhelming!! I’ll try and post a few of the popular ones here, and point out a few super bargains too.

HMV Boxing Week Sales (E.g. Dark Knight DVD For $9.99!)

The Boxing Weeks specials from HMV Canada have caught my eye! These are in-store only offers, so you’ll have to brave the cold weather and check the deals out at your nearest location.

Highlights:

  • The Dark Knight movie on DVD for only $9.99!! This will only be available to the first 25 customers per store, so if you’re interested in this deal, check your local store opening times and get there early! This DVD is priced at $24.99 on their website, so it’s a great saving.
  • The 300 Movie for $9.99 on Blu-Ray disc. Again, there are limited quantities – 15 per store – so get there while you can! 300 costs $26.99 to purchase from their store, so another excellent deal.
  • They’re giving 25 copies per store of Britney Spears new album on CD, Circus, for only $7.99! Britney is not my cup of tea, but I’m sure there are some fans who would be willing to snap up this bargain! The regular price of this item on their site is $14.99. There will only be 25 available per HMV store.

Additional Deals:

On top of those specific items, there are more generic sales, not the least of which are:

  • 100 DVDs for $4 – $6, including titles such as Happy Gilmore, Sin City, Wedding Crashers, Borat & Robots
  • 2 Posters for $10 (regular $6.99 each)
  • Up to 40% discount on music CD deals
  • Wii Fit in stock!

You can view the full sale pdf flyer here on the HMV Canada website.
