Remington Women’s Smooth and Silky Wet/Dry Face & Body Epilator Was $85 Now $39 & Free Shipping @ Amazon.ca (EXPIRED)

Remington Womens Smooth and Silky Wet/Dry Face & Body Epilator Was $85 Now $39 & Free Shipping @ Amazon.ca (EXPIRED)

The Remington Women’s Smooth and Silky Wet/Dry Face & Body Epilator is on sale @ Amazon.ca today. It was $84.99 but you can grab one for yourself now for only $39. Free super saver shipping is included with this product.

Like the smoothness of waxing but hate the hassle of wax? If you have not tried an epilator before, then now is your chance to try one on a great discount. An epilator is not for the faint of heart, but ladies we are strong and tough. We stand up to all sorts of painful body treatments in order to maintain our… feminine mystique. An epilator is a great choice for an at home hair removal system, especially if you fall into one of the following categories.

  • You are tired of paying a stranger to rip wax and hair out of your legs and other areas.
  • You have ever tried to wax at home and had it be a disaster. (Me too ladies!)
  • You hate spending the time to shave regularly.
  • You hate the ingrown hairs that shaving can cause.
  • You want a hair removal system that is portable and quick.

Enter the Remington Women’s Smooth and Silky Wet/Dry Face & Body Epilator. This epilator has a rechargeable battery that operates cordlessly. It comes with 40 tweezers inside to pull out every last hair. It has 2 speeds; one for coarse and one for hair that is fine. This epilator also includes a pivoting cap equipped with aloe vera to ensure you can tweeze the hairs on your face, neck or other more sensitive areas easily. A tip for beginners, make sure you exfoliate your skin first, which will stop ingrown hairs especially in more sensitive areas.

I only managed to find this model of epilator at London Drugs for a whopping $79.99. A similar epilator at Walmartwith terrible reviews, is selling for $52.97. I would skip both of those and buy this version from Amazon instead.

Mostly reviewers are happy with the epilator. Now some women may purchase this product not expecting that an epilator can be painful. It can be a little worse the first use when you have a little more hair to remove Here is one honest reviewer that seems pretty happy with the purchase overall.

Remington Womens Smooth and Silky Wet/Dry Face & Body Epilator Was $85 Now $39 & Free Shipping @ Amazon.ca (EXPIRED)

I may pick up this epilator myself. Summer is coming after all, and I spend a fortune on fancy Venus razors. I would much rather have longer spurts in between my shaving or waxing escapades.

WagJag Canada: $19 For 4 Essie Nail Polishes & Free Shipping

Posted by on February 18, 2015 at 3:30 PM

WagJag Canada: $19 For 4 Essie Nail Polishes & Free Shipping

WagJag’s got a great deal on right now that will delight the fashionista and the philanthropist in you. Buy four Essie nail polishes for $19 and get free shipping, which is a $48 value, and all of the proceeds will go to the Because I am a Girl initiative.

With this deal you’ll get four Essie nail polishes with your choice out of 40 colours. You’ll have to redeem the deal at HealthSnap and the deal will also include free shipping from them. You could also opt to pick up from your local pharmacy, but why would you if it gets shipped to your house free? Usually HealthSnap offers free shipping at $50, so this is a bonus with this deal.

Each nail polish sells for $9.99 on their site, so I’m assuming the extra $8 quoted in the $48 value is the shipping you are saving. Essentially then, you are getting two nail polishes and shipping free.

Shopping around, Walmart sells Essie for $8.96 a bottle. Nail Polish Canada sells them for $7.95 each, or a 4-pack of selected colours for $30. Well.ca sells them for $10 a bottle. As you can see, WagJag’s deal is the best one, saving you about $16-20 over the competitor’s prices.

With Mother’s Day sort of coming up, this might be a gift you can get early, or you can obviously keep it all to yourself. Most women appreciate a gift of nail polish because I think a lot of us wear it. I don’t wear it on my fingers but I do always wear it on my toes. It is my pet peeve not to have colour on my toes because I think the plain toenail look looks kind of sick.

I love that this deal also gives 100% of net proceeds to the Because I am a Girl initiative. Through Plan Canada, this donation helps girls go to school in developing countries. You might want to get a couple of these deals (two maximum), just to help out as much as you can.

Also note that HealthSnap will charge a $2 tax and processing fee at checkout after you enter your voucher.

Trade Secrets: Buy 3 Get 1 Free China Glaze & Valentine’s Sale & Free Shipping

Trade Secrets: Buy 3 Get 1 Free China Glaze & Valentines Sale & Free Shipping

Trade Secrets sells everything you would ever need for your nails. Right now, they have a special deal on the brand China Glaze. When you purchase three China Glaze polishes, you will receive the fourth for free. You will also receive free shipping with no minimum.

All China Glaze bottles of nail polish cost $9.95 each. All you need to do is find some amazing colours you cannot live without. Add four polishes to your cart and then only pay for three of them. I picked out:

I love funky colours so the gorgeous black, neon green, seductive purple, and shocking blue all fit my personality.

In my cart, the third nail polish came off so my total was $29.85 with free shipping. Now, this offer does ‘stack’ in that if you buy six bottles of nail polish you will receive two free and if you buy nine you will receive three free. The free bottles of nail polish will be automatically discounted in your cart.

Now, there is also a Valentine’s Day Sale on right now with 20% off select items and free shipping. The sale is on cosmetics and includes brands like Ardell, Body Drench, Deca, and more. The sale shows the current sale price, but does not show the original price. I had to add items to my cart to see the discount there. This Body Drench Mango Moisturizing Lip Balm is on sale for $4.95. Once I add it to my cart, I see that I am saving 99 cents off the original price.

I never knew that OPI made anything besides polish, but in the sale, I found an OPI Avojuice 5 Mini Assorted Scent Pack on sale for $9.95. You are saving $1.99 of the original price. The set includes five 30 ml containers of lotion in the following scents: Ginger Lily, Sweet Tea, Cran & Berry, Mango, and Hibiscus juices.

Trade Secrets: Buy 3 Get 1 Free China Glaze & Valentines Sale & Free Shipping

Both these promotions can be in the same cart and you will see the discounts calculated separately (as shown above). I thought this was a very cool feature of the Trade Secrets cart.

The Valentine’s Day sale will end on Valentine’s Day, but I do not know when the buy three, get one free promotion for China Glaze will expire. If you see this promotion over, please comment to let us know.

Tria Beauty Coupon: Free $25 Gift Card with Device Purchase

Tria Beauty Coupon: Free $25 Gift Card with Device Purchase

Tria Beauty is giving you a free $25 gift card with any device purchase. All purchases at Tria Beauty come with free shipping.

Click here to shop @ Tria Beauty Canada now

  • Coupon Code: FREEGIFT
  • Discount: $25 gift card with device purchase
  • Expiry: Unknown

Tria Beauty specializes in laser technology to treat acne, aging, and unsightly body hair. My only concern of those three is acne. I thought it was supposed to end once I left the teenage years – but that was just a lie they tell you to keep you sedated during the turmoil of change.

The Acne Clearing Blue Light system by Tria Beauty treats acne and reduces the appearance of blemishes. Rather than stick harmful chemicals on your skin, the Blue Light system eliminates acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin’s surface for a clearer complexion. The system retails for $340. While I am often skeptical about these devices, this one has garnered glowing reviews:

This product was great! Definitely worked on my medium brown skin tone. I could see the clarity in my skin after just 2 weeks! I loved the effect and it definitely made me feel more confident. I still use this product and its been over a year.

With your purchase, use the above coupon code to receive a free $25 gift card. While a $25 gift card may not seem like much, given the price of these devices, Tria Beauty rarely runs any promotions. Thus, a freebie like this that you can use in the future for a new Blue Light Cartridge or something else is rather helpful.

Every Tria Beauty purchase is risk free. You have 90-days to try out your new device. if you are not satisfied, simply send it back and they will give you a full refund. Given my propensity for acne (especially the aggravating cystic acne), I am tempted to try out this device for a few months.

If acne is not your problem, there are several other devices as well. The Hair Removal Laser 4X costs $515 and will save you money in the long run if you frequent the spa for wax treatments. The Age-Defying Laser is $569. It endeavours to smooth out wrinkles and restore your skin’s natural luminosity. I have never had experience with any of these devices, but the reviews rave about the positive changes.

I have no idea when this promotion ends. For this and future Tria beauty coupon codes, please visit our forum.

Well.ca Coupon Code: Free Hand Cream with $25 Cake Beauty Purchase

Buy your love some sweet body care products for Valentine’s Day with this promotion from Well.ca. When you spend $25 or more on Cake Beauty, you will receive a free hand cream worth $10 while supplies last. Use the coupon code below to redeem your offer.

Click here to shop Cake Beauty @ Well.ca now

  • Coupon Code: CAKEMINI
  • Discount: free hand cream
  • Expiry: 8th February 2015

There are plenty of decadent items you can load into your cart to receive this bonus gift. I picked out the Be Delectable Coconut & Cream Trio  for $16 as my first item. I think pre-packaged gifts are just lovely to gift because they look so pretty. This is a boxed collection of three x 60 ml products including:

  • Be Delectable Coconut & Cream Body Wash
  • Be Delectable Coconut & Cream Hair & Body Mist
  • Be Delectable Coconut & Cream Body Lotion

What a lovely way to try out all three products without buying full size containers.

For my second item, I added on the Be Delectable Lemon & Cream Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream for just $12. I love the scent of lemons. The last time I tried a lemon scented Cake beauty product, it was heavenly.

I also favour this Cake Cake Walk Triplemint Foot Creme for $16. I know many people use the same cream on their feet as they do on the rest of their body, but specialized foot creams are worth it. They often have antimicrobial properties that will keep your feet fresh and clean no matter how many hours they spend cooped up in a pair of socks.

To receive the free hand cream, add Cake Milk Made Velveteen Hand Creme ($10) to your cart. Use the coupon code at checkout, and the price for the hand creme will be taken off your total.

Well.ca Coupon Code: Free Hand Cream with $25 Cake Beauty Purchase

I had some difficulty getting this to work yesterday (and the day before), but I just demoed two carts and it appears to be working perfectly now.

Cake Beauty is a good brand for anyone with sensitive skin. Their products are free of parabens, sodium chloride, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, GMO’s, mineral oil, petrolatum, gluten, and triclosan.

All orders of $25 or more ship for free, thus you will receive free shipping on your order. For this, and any future Well.ca coupon codes, please visit our forum.

Pamper Yourself Pretty With Inexpensive All Natural Beauty Products

Posted by on February 3, 2015 at 8:00 PM

Pamper Yourself Pretty With Inexpensive All Natural Beauty Products

Whoever said all beauty comes naturally must have missed the memo. Maintaining your beauty routine can be expensive. Those beauty companies are well aware of the market here in Canada. The NPD Group, a market research group, recently reported that in 2014 Canadians spent $1.4 billion dollars on their beauty routines. This puts Canada as the number one market for beauty, edging out the US.

That is good news for those of us who love to try new products and want more selection. The question is what is in all of our products? Check out this great article from Fix that gives an overview of the most common chemicals lurking in your makeup bag and ideas for solutions.  They also include some of the major health risks that each chemical poses. Some of these health risks include reduced fertility, links to breast cancer, diabetes, links to thyroid problems and hormone imbalances.

Organic and natural products remove chemicals, but can be pricier than the product you are replacing. A concerned frugal diva can make some homemade pampering products for a fraction of the cost. So have fun, personalize them and go crazy with these ideas!

Facial Masks and Scrubs

These yummy facial masks and scrubs are simple and made from items in your kitchen. You typically apply a facial scrub to your face when the pores on your skin are open, which means that even more of the product and chemicals will be absorbed into your skin. That makes using a natural alternative a priority.

My absolute favourite mask is simply mashed banana, oatmeal and honey. Mix all three ingredients together then gently splash warm water on your face. Apply mask gently working it in with your fingertips. Leave for 10-15 minutes then rinse your face.

The banana will moisturize your skin and make it feel soft. Some have even called banana nature’s botox as it leaves your skin super soft. Oatmeal will gently exfoliate any dead skin cells on your face. Honey will kill any bacteria on your skin, which helps reduce and prevent blemishes. Soft and supple, your skin has a nice refresher for a small percentage of what a bottled mask would cost you. For more great mask ideas, check out this great article Eva wrote on helping 6 Beauty Masks to Improve Your Winter Skin.

Eye Cream

Now that your skin is glowing, we want to keep it that way. One of my weaknesses is a good quality eye cream. I really hate the droopy circles and skin crinkles that can form around my eyes. The skin there is delicate. I have easily dropped $20-$50 on a quality eye cream.

Lesson learned. I can make my own eye cream at home for a fraction of that cost. Try this simple recipe from One Good Thing By Jillie. The ingredient list is simple,  Coconut oil and vitamin E capsules. You can find both at your local health store or have Well.ca deliver it to your door. The combination should cost you about $20 to get you started. You can also add an essential oil if you want your moisturizer to smell even nicer. In a pinch I have used a smidge of real (not imitation!) vanilla extract in my homemade beauty products from my pantry.  If you have not yet jumped on the coconut oil bandwagon here is a great list from Wellness Mama of 101 uses for Coconut Oil to use up the rest of the jar.

Lip Stain

There are multiple to make your own lip-gloss or stain. The yummiest way is to mash some berries, strain the juice and then mix it with a small amount of oil such as olive oil or warmed coconut oil. While the colour on this stain is great, I find that it only lasts about a week before I have to make more. You can make multiple containers by buying lip balm containers (or contact lens cases!) and keeping them in the freezer until you are ready to use.

Foundation

This one I have not tried myself but I had to include it. Foundation is something I am adding to my face every single day. I am not a full-face foundation user, but I do use it to even out the skin colour in my T-zone and across my cheeks. I would give this foundation a try made out of spices and arrowroot powder from Thank Your Body. It may take patience to get the perfect colour for your skin. I am not completely sold that this will replace what I currently use, but I am willing to try it. In addition, the cocoa, cinnamon and nutmeg would smell nice and I already have them in my pantry.

I do want to mention dear Bargainmoosers, that homemade beauty products do not always have the lifespan of their store counterparts. Check out this great article on how to keep your beauty products safe from Thank Your Body. They give great tips such as keeping water and light away from your homemade goodies that can cause the products to break down.

Bargaionmoosers, what beauty product would you like to replace with a more natural version?

Body Shop: Ultimate Body Care Gift Set Was $128 | Now $45 (FS @ $50)

Posted by on February 1, 2015 at 4:00 PM

Body Shop: Ultimate Body Care Gift Set Was $128 | Now $45 (FS @ $50)

The Body Shop has a lot of promotions going on right now, but my favourite deal is this Ultimate Body Care Gift Set on sale from $128 down to $50. However, when you add the gift set to your cart it comes down to just $45, as you are spending over $30.

So, why is this my favourite deal when there are so many other deals at The Body Shop right now? Well, sometimes I just like to keep things simple. Building your own cart takes time and energy that, some days, I frankly do not possess. The idea of sticking one item into my cart and it covering all my needs is pretty sweet. In addition, these items totally match already so no need to dig around to find complementary scents.

Secondly, the popular Buy 3 Get 3 free sale is on at the Body Shop right now. I think that is a fabulous sale, but it is equivalent to 50% off all those items. The Ultimate Body Care Gift Set is actually 65% off, so you are saving more off the kit.

Kits also make amazing gifts. They come in a pretty box and are ready for gift giving without having to add in too much extra effort, wrapping paper, and more. Valentine’s Day is approaching in just two weeks – this might just be the perfect gift for your loved one.

The Ultimate Body Care Gift Set consists of eight pieces to keep your body all happy and moisturized. Included in the set are:

  • Mango Body Sorbet 6.76 oz
  • Mango Body Mist 3.38 oz
  • Coconut Body Butter 6.76 oz
  • Coconut Shower Cream 8.45 oz
  • Honeymania Body Butter 6.76 oz
  • Honeymania Soap 100g
  • Shea Body Butter 6.76 oz
  • Shea Body Scrub 6.76 oz

I have tried the shea butter products from the Body Shop – they are marvellously thick and moisturizing. The mango is fantastic for anyone who loves a fruity scent and it can really brighten up your winter. Coconut is like the tropics – the scent pairs very well with the mango. I am most excited about Honeymania as I LOVE honey and I have never tried that scent from The Body Shop before.

With eight products in the kit at only $45, you are paying approximately $5.62 per product. When products like the Mango Body Sorbet retail for $15 alone, you know this is going to be a good deal.

All orders of $50 or more qualify for free shipping. Add on a $5 item like these Frosted Cranberry Bath Sprinkles, currently 50% off, to receive free shipping.

Well.ca: New Bundle Builder Up to 30% Off

Posted by on January 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM

Well.ca: New Bundle Builder Up to 30% Off

Well.ca has introduced a new Bundle Builder where you combine items from specific categories to save extra. Receive up to 30% off when you bundle up lunch items, exercise products, hair care, laundry, and more.

The extra discount ranges from 15% up to 30%. The system is easy: they lay out the qualifying products for you all on one page. You choose one from each category – four categories in total – to qualify for the bonus discount. I will concentrate on the two categories that give the highest bonus discount: Fabric Care and Hair Care.

Fabric Care: Save 30% on your bundle of a detergent, scent, softener, and static protector.

Laundry detergent is just one of those necessities of home life, so why not save extra when shopping. For my detergent, I chose the Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Laundry Detergent that retails for $9.99. Out of all the Tide detergents, it is the one my skin is most tolerant of on my clothing. I have never tried a scent booster before, but the Downy UNSTOPABLES In-Wash Scent Booster in fresh sounds nice. It also retails for $9.99. For a fabric softener, Downy Ultra Free & Gentle Liquid at $7.99 seemed like the natural choice. Lastly, I added into my cart the Bounce Free and Gentle Dryer Sheets for $6.49.

After adding the four products, the discount was immediate. My cart subtotal came to $34.46, so the bundle discount took off $10.34 for a total of $24.12. I still appear to qualify for free shipping as my total before discount was above $25.

Hair Care: Save 30% on your bundle of a shampoo, conditioner, styling product, and treatment.

This is another great bundle. I decided to see how cheap I could go with four hair care products. For shampoo, I chose Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo Silicone Free because I always need lots of volume in my hair. The Pantene shampoo and the Pantene Nature Fusion Smoothing Conditioner cost $6.99 each. Then I added on Pantene Pro-V Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo, which is in the styling product section for $5.99. I have heard good things about dry shampoos so I want to try one. Lastly, this Pantene Intensely Hydrated Masque for $8.99 made it onto my cart. After the 30% bundle discount, which came to $8.69 off, my cart total was only $20.27 with free shipping.

Free shipping on $25 is calculated before discount right now. This may change in the future.

From reading customer reviews, this product seems to be great for even sensitive skin. Transform your eyes from tired and puffy to moist and refreshed. Customers have been pleasantly surprised and for $9 I think it is definitely worth a try. Here is one of the customer reviews:

I have dark circles because I often stay up very late to write essays, and I don’t find most of the de-puffing eye treatments that are on the market work. I didn’t have much hope for this product either. This Live Clean Fresh Face De-Puffing Roller Eye Treatment actually works amazingly well. At first the results were not very significant, but after 2 or 3 days, I can tell that may eyes are noticeably better. It took me a while to find this product, and I would definitely come back to buy it again.

I did a little research to make sure that this is the lowest price around. This Live Clean Fresh De-Puffing Roller Eye Treatment was $21.56 Well.ca but is now discontinued. You can also purchase this treatment for $17.97 Walmart.ca. Have any of you Moosers tried this product before? What did you think of it?

Canadian Freebie: OZ Naturals Anti Aging Vitamin C Serum Sample

Posted by on January 8, 2015 at 7:00 PM

Canadian Freebie: OZ Naturals Anti Aging Vitamin C Serum Sample

There is a new freebie in town and it is a beauty! Request your free sample of OZ Naturals Anti-Aging Vitamin C Serum from M Coiffure Spa.

This offer is open to Canadians and is valid while supplies last. There is a limit of one sample per household. You will need to be patient: this sample will take between six and eight weeks for delivery.

Now, what exactly is OZ Naturals Anti-Aging Vitamin C Serum? This is a serum you put on your skin that contains clinical strength 20% Vitamin C plus vegan hyaluronic acid. OZ Naturals Vitamin C serum is cruelty free, organic, and it is made in the USA. The serum is supposed to neutralizing free radicals, stimulate collagen, and reduce fine lines/wrinkles.

Now, I rarely put stock in such claims but I looked the product up on Amazon.ca and there are a so many good reviews for this serum that the product averages a 4.5/5 stars with 100 reviews. Even more impressive, with 2,477 reviews on Amazon.com the product still averages a 4.3/5 star rating. That is phenomenal. Most the reviews are quite lengthy so here is an excerpt or two:

I have been using OZ Naturals Vitamin C Serum for three weeks now. And I SEE a difference in my skin. Improved skin tone. Less dryness. And a reduction in fine lines. Their customer service is also fantastic. I actually got reply emails to my questions. From a real human being. That alone gave me faith.

and…

I have been using the Best Vitamin C Serum for over a year and can’t live without this product. My skin is more vibrant, bright and age spots have faded. What I love best is that unlike other vitamin C serums it is not sticky nor irritating. Try it, you will not be disappointed:)

Now, some reviewers are disappointed too. However, those tend to be outliers and not the norm. 78/100 people gave the serum a full five-star review and 11/100 gave it a four-star review. That only leaves 11 people that gave it three stars or less.

I think this is a great little freebie if you manage to score it while they still have some in stock. Hop to it my darling Moosers!

Note: Sample size is unknown.

Lancome Canada Promo Code: Free 7-Pc Gift Set With Purchase ($155 Value)

Posted by on January 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM

Lancome Canada Promo Code: Free 7 Pc Gift Set With Purchase ($155 Value)

Since we haven’t blogged about Lancome in a while, I thought some of you Moosers would be happy to know that they have a brand new coupon out and this time, it’s for a free 7-pc gift set when you spend over $50.

Click here to shop @ Lancome.ca now

  • Coupon Code: JAN15
  • Discount: free 7-pc gift set on $50+
  • Expiry: Unknown

Spending over $50 is fairly easy at Lancome considering that their products aren’t exactly known for being cheaply priced. However, Lancome products are definitely among some of the best and they’re worth giving a try if you haven’t already.

My mom is a huge Lancome fan and I always jump on the opportunity of any kind of Lancome freebie for her. In this case, the free gift set comes with the following:

  • Absolue Oléo serum
  • Absolue Premium Bx
  • Color Design eye shadow palette
  • La Base Pro
  • Bi-facil
  • Dédinicils Precious Cells
  • Make-up pouch

All of these products together are valued at a retail value of $155. Although it’s not featured on the image above, it also comes with a lovely pink make-up pouch that features the Lancome iconic rose logo along with a polka dot motive.

What I love the most about this kind of freebie from Lancome is that although you need to spend at least $50 at their site, you will get to try a couple of products that you may not have necessarily tried otherwise. The Absolue Oléo serum that the gift set comes with, for instance, usually features a $190 price tag for a 30ml bottle. Personally, that’s not a price I would readily pay for a product that I had never tried before, so at least this way, you will get to try it before potentially deciding to commit to it!

This offer is only on while supplies last, so there is no telling when it will end. However, given that it has “JAN” in the code”, my assumption is that it will last throughout the entire month of January, but if you’re interested in getting this freebie, then I don’t suggest waiting just in case it does expire soon!

At checkout, you will also be given the option of select two samples out of a selection of four of the following choices: Génifique Yeux, Trésor, La Vie Est Belle or Dreamtone 101.

Shipping is free on orders over $85, otherwise a $6.95 charge will apply. For more Lancome coupon codes, keep an eye on the Bargainmoose forum.

Save 50% On The Colour Workshop 15 Piece Cosmetic Brush Set Now $7 @ Walmart.ca

Are you in need of a new makeup brush set? Shop at Walmart.ca and you can save 50% off The Colour Workshop 15 Piece Cosmetic Brush Set, which means you will pay just $7. Walmart Canada offers free shipping on all orders too.

The Colour Workshop 15 Piece Cosmetic Brush Set from Walmart comes with 15 different pieces. There are multiple brushes as well as a pouch to keep all of the brushes in. That would essentially mean that you are paying less than $0.50 per item in this kit. I am not too familiar with the Walmart brand makeup brushes. At the original price of $14, I would not have purchased these. However, at $7, I would give these brushes a shot.

The items you will find included in this The Colour Workshop 15 Piece Cosmetic Brush Set are:

  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Mirror
  • 4 Piece Applicator Set
  • Pouch
  • Bottle
  • Brow Comb
  • Applicator
  • Eyeliner Brush
  • Lip Brush
  • Angled Shadow Brush
  • Shadow Brush
  • Contour Brush
  • Blush Brush
  • Powder Brush
  • Long Powder Brush

I threw one of these makeup sets in my cart. I have a niece who is turning 14 in just under a month, this set would make an excellent first makeup brush kit for someone learning how to apply makeup. Once she gets the hang of things she can move up to a higher quality brand, or perhaps she will like these ones.

Personally I am not big enough on makeup to go out and spend a large sum on brushes and applicators. A set like this would be perfect for me. The only thing I would be worried about is the brush bristles falling out, or the sponge applicator falling off while applying your makeup. I have experienced that with dollar store quality makeup brush sets.

If you are looking for a bigger set including actual makeup, The Colour Workshop Luminous Beauty Train Case is also on sale for 50% off @ Walmart.ca. Instead of paying the original price of $55, you will pay just $27.50 for this large makeup set. This particular set even shows up for $13.75 at stores close to me. If you are heading over to your local Walmart Canada store, you might want to take a look for this item. This set includes the train case, lip gloss, eye shadows, pressed powder, lip stick, lip pencil, eye pencil, nail polish, nail butter, a mirror, a brush, lip brushes, applicators and even a toe separator.

Not only is this item discounted by 50%, but you will also get free shipping on all orders from Walmart.ca.

Free Sample of Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer @ Jergens Canada (EXPIRED)

Jergens Canada has a new freebie available. While supplies are available, you can request a free sample of the Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer. Supplies will be limited of course, so pounce on this offer while you can.

Sign up now to receive a sample of the new Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer. All you will have to do is fill out your basic information like your name and address to receive this freebie. You will also have to answer a few simple questions about your lotion choices.

Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer is best for dry and dull skin. This wonderful cream will help to restore your skin to a beautiful luminosity and sheen. Your skin will become beautiful and radiant as the moisture is replenished with regular use of this Jergens lotion. What I love about this Jergens lotion is that it absorbs quickly and does not leave your skin feeling greasy like other brands do.

I have tried many other shea butter products that just leave my skin feeling sticky, so hopefully that is not the case with this stuff. I find other shea butter products have a sticky feeling for hours after applying the product. This is especially inconvenient if you have pets. The cat and dog hair stuck to my legs after applying the lotion, and that did not feel great at all.

You will also find that Jergens uses the exact same ingredients as L’Occitane, yet the Jergens products will only cost a fraction of the L’Occitane cost. You might find the Jergens odour a bit stronger though. Many reviews also say how great this lotion is for pregnancy. Many moms and moms-to-be found that the Jergens lotion prevented stretch marks and even helped to reduce the appearance of their stretch marks afterwards.

These sample packs are valued at $1 each and there are about 10,000 available. We all know how fast 10,000 free samples can run out. No purchase is necessary to get this offer. If the 10,000 samples do not run out, this free sample offer will end on the 5th of January 2015.

5 Tips to Make your Beauty Products Last Longer

5 Tips to Make your Beauty Products Last Longer

As mentioned in a previous Bargainmoose post, the average person spends $1200 a year on makeup, or about $100 a month.  That’s a pretty penny if you ask me and it is equivalent to an international flight or an all inclusive vacation after a year of makeup purchases.  Therefore, it makes sense to try and make the makeup last longer if you are able to.  Even though typically, the items that are usually in your makeup bag need to be tossed after a year or two due to accumulation of bacteria, there are some ways that you can make your make up last longer.  Besides, sometimes it can be hard to part with great beauty products, or it can be difficult to find the same products in the stores.  So when this happens, making your beauty products last longer will definitely help keep your  peepers pretty.

Here are five small tips on how to make your beauty products last longer than the usual one to two years.  Of course, making sure you clean your makeup brushes at least would be helpful to keep things running smoothly to avoid bacteria accumulation.

Mascara

Mascara is a girl’s best friend but the problem with it is that it can dry up quickly or get smelly quickly.  General care tips such as not pumping the mascara wand each time you use it can help you increase the longevity of your mascara.  Pumping the mascara wand causes air pockets to form in the mascara tube and encourages bacteria to grow (source: Glo).  Personally, it is a bad habit of mine to pump the mascara before applying it so I need to fix that.

If your favourite mascara is already drying out and getting clumpy, as mentioned in last year’s Bargainmoose post makeup on a budget, just add a few drops of Visine or other normal saline solution the mascara and you will get 9 more lives out of that mascara wand.

Perfume

According to a great article by Learn Vest  perfumes change over time and often lose their smell, so in order to make your perfume last longer, it is best to keep perfume in a cool, dry place.  In addition, some people advocate putting your perfume in a fridge to keep it cool and dry, but the constant temperature changes when you take the bottle in and out of the fridge can cause it to deteriorate sooner.  So basically the rule of thumb is to keep it somewhere cool, dark, and to keep it there instead of taking it in and out of the fridge regularly.

Nail Polish

In order to keep nail polish clump fee and less solid (so that it can glide onto your finger  nails juuust right) one great easy tip is  to apply a small amount of nail polish remover to your nail polish bottle.  This thins the consistency of the nail polish and makes it much easier to apply next time you have a home pedicure or manicure.

Razors

Unfortunately blades do get dull (and we know dull blades are bad news).  One excellent tip from Glamour magazine is to add baby oil to your shaver blade, this keeps your blade sharp for longer.  The way you do this is by shaking the blade dry, drying the blade well, and applying baby oil to coat the blade so that this prevents the dulling of the blade from the minerals in water.

Use a Different Weapon of Choice

When I mean weapon, I mean instead of using a cotton ball to dab up your toner/ astringent/ nail polish remover or other beauty product, use a cotton pad instead.  Cotton balls absorb too much liquid and will end up causing you to use much more product that you needed.  Besides, cotton pads (in my opinion) seem to exfoliate a bit better than cotton balls do.

Perfume, nail polish, razors, and mascara… There you have it, hope these tips help increase the life span of your makeup!  Keeping what we put on your face clean and dry from bacteria can help us keep our skin healthy.

Bargainmoosers, do you have other beauty tips to make your beauty products last longer than they were intended to?
