FutureShop Canada: Boxing Day Deals & Flyer

FutureShop Canada: Boxing Day Deals & Flyer

Put on your gloves, pick out your favourite trunks and get some awesome Boxing Day deals at FutureShop!

There are lots of good deals here, so let’s get right into them:

Those are just a few specific deals, but there are tons more, including a lot of really good TV deals. All iPads are also on sale, and there are even some great deals on appliances. I will mention that the video game deals were kind of junk, but that’s expected with a couple of new consoles on the market.

I did some price comparing and pretty much everything is a legit deal. The “before” prices are inflated a bit on a lot of the items, but that doesn’t make the “after” prices any less great.

The deals go live on the 24th online and in stores on the 26th December 2013. Some stores are opening early on the 26th, so call your location to see when they open. Shipping is free on orders over $20.

Here is the full Future Shop Boxing Day flyer:

If this isn’t getting you going, check out the BargainMoose Boxing Day Dashboard.

Future Shop Canada: Sony PS3 3D Glasses For $15 – Works With Most Active 3D TVs

Posted by on December 8, 2013 at 1:30 PM

Future Shop Canada: Sony PS3 3D Glasses For $15 Works With Most Active 3D TVs

Want 3D glasses that work with almost any Active 3D TV for only $15? Yes! Thank you FutureShop!

These glasses are Sony PS3 branded, but they will actually work with almost any Active 3D HDTV out there. Of course, since they are Sony PS3 branded, stores are trying to clear them out. 3D was never a big deal in video games on the PS3, and is even less so on the PS4. Having these things sitting in a warehouse is, to retailers, a pain in the butt. People will probably think they only work with Sony TVs or only with the PS3, but that is not the case. The only caveat is with TV’s that use RF to sync the glasses instead of IR. These glasses do not support RF shutter sync.

These glasses are still being sold for the full price of $69.99 in some places, and Amazon Canada is selling them for $29.99. So, at minimum you are saving $15! For me shipping was $4.99 and I suspect it will be similar for most people. You can also pick this up at your local store. Of course, then you need to get out of the house, brave the crowds and the weather. It’s a whole thing. Just get someone else to bring it directly to your front door!

Best Buy Canada: Anniversary Sale On TVs

Posted by on October 16, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: Anniversary Sale On TVs

Best Buy Canada currently has an anniversary sale on TVs. Save hundreds of dollars on all the popular brands and models.

Our Sony Bravia TV has been fantastic and it even survived transportation across 1400 miles. The quality is worthy of my BBC Earth collection, but it doesn’t make watching old TV shows like M.A.S.H. completely unbearable. I would suggest checking out the Sony BRAVIA 50″ 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV (KDL50R450A) that was $899.99 and is now $799.99.

I don’t mind going small, either. If I want something on a big screen, I will go to the movies. This Sony BRAVIA 32″ 720p 60Hz LED HDTV (KDL32R400A) would suit me just fine and is less than half the price. It is now $329.99, down from $349.99.

Most items that cost $20 or more ship for free.

The Source Canada: Free Shipping On 37″+ TVs

The Source Canada: Free Shipping On 37+ TVs

The Source Canada is offering free shipping to your home on all TVs over 37″ in size (excluding the northern regions of Canada).

The Toshiba 39-Inch 120 Hz 1080p LED HDTV is on sale from $564.99 down to $429.99. It is a good size TV from a respected brand and features:

  • 39″ LED screen
  • 1080p resolution
  • ClearScan 120Hz refresh rate
  • Three HDMI inputs
  • 5ms response time

I found the same TV on sale for pretty much the same price at Amazon.ca, but it was out of stock. It is still in stock at The Source and now qualifies for free shipping as well.

This LG 42″ 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV is on sale for $499.99 down from $649.99. I did find this model on sale for a tiny bit cheaper at a couple other places, but they were both completely sold out. Again, The Source has this TV in stock at a very good price and with free shipping.

(Expiry: Both TV deals expire the 9th, October 2013. Free shipping expiry is unknown.)

Dell Canada: Sharp 40-inch LED HDTV Now $399.99 (Save $300)

Posted by on October 1, 2013 at 11:00 PM

Dell Canada: Sharp 40 inch LED HDTV Now $399.99 (Save $300)

Save $300 on a Sharp 40-inch LED HDTV from Dell Canada for the next few days. Originally $699.99 the television is now on sale for $399.99.

I really do not know what to say about this deal except when I saw the discount I was quite surprised. It is a nice strong discount and $400 is a good price for a brand name 40″  full HD television. By full HD I mean 1080 and not 720. I consulted our local tech boy about the difference between LCD and LED and he said that “LED is better.” Here are the features of this TV:

  • Slim Edge-lit LED TV
  • Full HD 1080p/120Hz anti-glare LCD panel
  • High brightness and contrast
  • 3 HDMI inputs
  • PC input
  • Energy Star compliant

As per usual all Dell Canada deals include free shipping.

Walmart Canada: RCA 32″ Direct LED HD TV $178 (Save $40)

Posted by on September 17, 2013 at 3:00 PM

Walmart Canada: RCA 32 Direct LED HD TV $178 (Save $40)

Walmart Canada’s anniversary event is now on and they have a truckload of deals on their website. One of the deals that jumped out at me was this RCA 32″ Direct LED HD TV on sale for $178 from $218. It is a very inexpensive option for those in need of a new television.

I was pretty surprised that this TV has actually received a ton of great reviews. With ninety-five reviews, the TV averaged a 4/5 ranking. That ranking is achieved through the cost benefit analysis that most reviewers present. They acknowledge that this is an entry level TV and has 720 instead of 1080. However, they also talk about how crisp and clear the picture is even with the lower HD. Many reviewers mention how this TV is the best they have found in the $300 and below range and certainly the best for under $250. Now that the TV is on sale, it is now unrivaled in quality under the $200 price tag.

If you have a lower budget but need a decent TV, get this one.

Walmart will ship this TV to you for free.

Costco Canada: $130 Off LG 42″ HDTV – Now $549.99

Posted by on September 15, 2013 at 9:00 AM

Costco Canada: $130 Off LG 42 HDTV Now $549.99

Costco Canada is offering $130 off an LG 42″ HDTV. Originally $679.99, the high definition television is now on sale for $549.99.

We have a 42″ TV and it is a really great size for TV viewing. I love watching the Food Channel on it. Unfortunately, that makes me hungry.

This TV features:

  • 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 120 Hz
  • Two HDMI Ports

I price compared, and this price is not quite unique to Costco. It is also on sale for the same price at Future Shop (sold out) and at Best Buy Canada (only 14 left). I figured that if Future Shop is already sold out and Best Buy Canada only has 14 left in my area (which probably means it is sold out in more populated areas) that Costco.ca would be the way to go. It appears to be a very popular deal right now! Remember, you do not need a Costco membership to shop online at Costco.

You get free shipping and handling from Costco.

Dell Canada: $550 Off LG 55″ Full HD LED TV – Now $800

Posted by on July 31, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Dell Canada: $550 Off LG 55 Full HD LED TV Now $800

Dell Canada is offering $550 off a 55 inch LG LS5600 Full HD 1080p, 120Hz LED TV to turn your living room into the ultimate home entertainment center. Originally $1,349.99, it is on sale for $799.99 with free shipping.

I’m not sure what I can tell you about this TV. It has a huge 55″ screen and full 1080p HD for all those blu ray movies you own. It is 2D (not 3D), but for the price I think this is a fantastic buy. I found the same model in a smaller size (47″) for only $100 cheaper on clearance. For that extra $100 you are getting 8″ more of screen, so I think that is pretty reasonable.

This TV doesn’t really have many bells and whistles. It does have its own media center built in, but that is about it for the special features. It specializes in being an affordable giant HDTV made by a dependable brand.

Enjoy free shipping on all your Dell orders.

NCIX Canada: FREE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 w/ Samsung TV Purchase! ($200 value)

Posted by on July 29, 2013 at 11:00 PM

NCIX Canada: FREE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 w/ Samsung TV Purchase! ($200 value)

Get a FREE Galaxy Tab 2 when you buy a Samsung TV at NCIX.

This is an all around great deal if you’re in the market for a TV. I had a Samsung Galaxy S, I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and my wife has an O.G. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. All awesome devices and while I haven’t played around much with the Galaxy Tab 2 7-inch I can’t imagine it’s anything but awesome. And the seven inch form factor has really come in to it’s own in the past little bit. Even Apple, who said they would never do a smaller tablet has one out.

As far as TVs go, you can’t go wrong with Samsung. I’m thinking of surprising my family with a new TV in the next little bit and Samsung is right at the top of the list as far as a top notch T.V. goes. They make some of the best TVs out there and it’s hard to go wrong with their stuff. For shipping it looks like a lot of them have FREE or cheap shipping right now. There is also a deal on most of them where you get a good price on a wall mount for your TV. It’s $98 which is a savings of about $81.

On a side note, if you search for ‘free blet’ in the NCIX search bar, you can see all the TVs available with this deal. Yeah, free blet.

Best Buy Canada: $100 Off Insignia 46″ HDTV – Now $399.99

Posted by on July 13, 2013 at 7:30 PM

Best Buy Canada: $100 Off Insignia 46 HDTV Now $399.99

Best Buy Canada has 20% off the Insignia 46″ 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV. Originally $499.99, the TV is now on sale for $399.99!

The only other place I found this TV in Canada was at Future Shop where they still have it for the full price.

  • Full HD 1080p resolution
  • Response time of 6.5ms
  • Three HDMI inputs
  • 3000:1 static contrast ratio
  • x.v.Color colour enhancement technology

For TVs of this size you can still get free shipping (as it is over $20 worth), but they require a scheduled home delivery, so make sure someone is home to receive it! Alternatively, you can pick it up at your local store.

I don’t know much about Insignia… actually I don’t know anything about the brand. But I do know that $400 for a 46″ TV is pretty sweet!

AARTech Canada: 25% Off Promounts Tilting TV Wall Mount (Pay $30)

Posted by on May 8, 2013 at 7:00 PM

AARTech Canada: 25% Off Promounts Tilting TV Wall Mount (Pay $30)
Your TV is sitting on a TV stand isn’t it? Well that’s caveman style. Modern humans hang their TVs on the wall and you can too thanks to AAR Tech Canada.

This mount is normally $39.99 but you save $10 so it only ends up costing you $29.99. Shipping is $14.99.

Seriously. Setting your TV on a TV stand is kind of old fashioned isn’t it? I mean, you almost had to do it when you had a big CRT Tv.  But the promise of flat panel TVs has always been the television on the wall that looks like a window. Nowadays flat panel TVs are commonplace enough that no one is going to sit on the couch and look at an image of a backyard and think it’s a window but I think the TV on the wall is still something people like. At the functional level it is a convenience thing. The TV is on the wall so there is no big piece of furniture taking up more space in your livingroom. But on a different level I think there is a certain satisfaction to taking control over technology in this way. It used to be that the TV was constrained by it’s size and we’ve conquered it in a way that lets us mount it to the wall, have it in our cars, carry it around in our pockets, etc…

This particular mount is good for TVs from 32″ to 65″ and up to 80kg. The mount tilts up to 15 degrees so you can mount it up high on the wall and tilt it down. Besides the home uses this would be a great way to mount a TV high up in an office or other environment where you don’t want people to be able to touch the TV but still want them to be able to watch it.
