    FutureShop.ca: Iconia 50″ LCD HDTV for $499.99 (Save $100)

Posted by on November 20, 2012 at 9:00 AM

    FutureShop.ca: Iconia 50 LCD HDTV for $499.99 (Save $100)

Fifty inches of full HD goodness at a price that doesn’t require you to remortgage your house. Yes, Virginia, there is a good deal on TVs for Christmas!

First things first, shipping can be as much as $50 and possibly more. Why? Because It’s a TV. It’s big and heavy. What does this mean? It means you’re likely better off going to your local FutureShop or BestBuy to pick this up. The TV in question is normally $599.99 but you save $100 meaning you only pay $499.99. Great price for a TV this big.

The TV has all the specs you would expect from a lower-end TV like this: 120Hz, 1080p, HDMI, component and VGA inputs as well as USB. That is about it. It really is a bare-bones TV. There are no special features. That’s why you are getting the great price. Depending on how much money you have, this could work differently in your life.

If you’ve got money and you already have a 62″ LED TV with all the goodies in your living room, then this would be a fantastic second TV. Something for a bedroom or kids room or second living room.

If you don’t have much spare cash laying around, this is still an awesome TV. It’s big, it’s full HD, and it has all the hookups you really need. Having a TV like this also makes it easy to add on. You pay $499.99 for a bare bones TV but then you add stuff on to it. You add a PS3 or a Roku, or even your own home media server like I have. Instead of dropping $1000 on a TV with everything in it you can put $500 down now then add some stuff later. Much more cost efficient, and what are we about here at Bargainmoose if not saving money?

FutureShop.ca: Save up to $100 on Cameras, Camcorders and Accessories – Online or Printable

FutureShop.ca: Save up to $100 on Cameras, Camcorders and Accessories Online or Printable

The holidays are coming up and you’re going to want to get the best quality pictures and videos you can, to remember the good times you have with family and friends. FutureShop wants to make this as cheap as possible.

There are four different levels of savings available with this one coupon code. The code is OHSNAP and the deals are as follows.

    • Spend $100 to $299.99 on Cameras, Camcorders and Accessories, save $10
    • Spend $300 to $699.99 on Cameras, Camcorders and Accessories, save $30
    • Spend $700 to $999.99 on Cameras, Camcorders and Accessories, save $50
    • Spend $1000 or more on Cameras, Camcorders and Accessories, save $100

I like this kind of sale because it’s very open. They aren’t trying to force you into buying a specific brand or model. A lot of people, photographers especially, it seems, are brand loyal so forcing them to a brand isn’t good for the store or the customers. Even worse is when a store limits you to a certain few models. I understand why it is done but it’s annoying regardless. The freedom that these types of deals allow is almost better than the savings. Almost.

FutureShop.ca: After Hours Sale on Home Theater, Appliances, Smartphone and more!

FutureShop.ca: After Hours Sale on Home Theater, Appliances, Smartphone and more!

There are lots of goodies on sale here over the next couple of nights on FutureShop.ca and all you have to do is stay awake long enough to see the sale!

There are things on sale here from most of FutureShop’s departments. Here are a few of them:

I actually like this kind of sale. I work overnights so anything that caters to the night dwellers among us is good with me. It’s not really a night thing as much as it’s an after hours thing though. The sale goes from 8:00PM to 10:ooAM ET on 29th September 2012 and from 5:00PM to 10:00AM ET on 30th September 2012.

Although every time I go to FutureShop and have to ask one of their staff members a question I die a little more inside, I enjoy the store. They have great selection and it’s one of the few chain stores remaining where you can walk in and play with the cameras or tablets or watch a wall of TVs. Even Wal~Mart, behemoth that they are, don’t let you try out a laptop before you buy it and stores like Sears have such a terrible electronics section, you could almost walk by it thinking it was a living room display.

The sale has some really good deals (I’d buy that 52″ TV in a second if I needed one) so poke around and check out the savings. There is sure to be something in there for you. On top of that they have free shipping on purchases over $20. This $20 does not include gift cards or special deliveries. I’m guessing special deliveries are things like fridges and washing machines. Stuff that isn’t going to fit in a Canada Post delivery van.

    Future Shop: HP 15.6″ AMD Quad-Core A6-3420M Laptop Now $349.99 (Save $130)

Posted by on September 4, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Future Shop: HP 15.6 AMD Quad Core A6 3420M Laptop Now $349.99 (Save $130)

Future Shop has a pretty good deal on a HP 15.6″ AMD Quad-Core A6-3420M Laptop. This is a good entry level laptop, and the price is pretty alluring too. Priced at $349.99 it is $130 off the regular price.

The laptop was so popular it is backordered to the 10th of September… but you can still order it. It has good stats for this price range:

    • 750 GB HD
    • 4 GB RAM
    • 15.6″ screen
    • built in memory card reader
    • and more!

I couldn’t find this exact model elsewhere after a quick search, but similar models were generally priced $450 and higher. I really like the built in memory card reader. I use my camera a LOT and just being able to pop out the SD card and put it in the side of my computer is a massive time saver.

FutureShop.ca: Labour Day Weekend Sale on Laptops, Tablets, TVs and More!

Posted by on September 3, 2012 at 5:00 AM

FutureShop.ca: Labour Day Weekend Sale on Laptops, Tablets, TVs and More!

It’s labour day so what better way than to celebrate the eight hour work day than to use some of the money you made during said day and buy some cool gadgets! And what better place to do it than a store having a sale!?

The deals on this are all over the place. TVs, computers, appliances, etc… Here are a few of them:

It’s shameless how retailers will use any excuse to have a sale. Shameless but useful. It gives us more sales, which is always good. Anywho, there truly are sales on everything here so don’t just look at the page I linked to above. The whole Future Shop website is full of deals.

You know, school is just around the corner for a lot of kids. A lot of the sales here have been specifically “back to school” sales. At this point it’s kind of late to be doing your back to school shopping for the kids but I think labour day is a perfect “back to school” shopping time for parents. You’ve spend all summer going to the zoo, buying ice cream, polysporin-ing scraped knees and driving to ever sleep over, party, event, etc… Now the kids are back in school, things are going to calm down a bit and life will normalize. What better way to rewards yourself for all the hard work you’ve put in this summer than to buy yourself something? Future Shop is a good place to do this because they sell a lot of stuff. You can get a car stereo, a new TV or, if you’re really into your kitchen, a new fridge.

Future Shop Canada: Bring in Any DVD for Recycling & Save up to $10 on Select Blu rays

Just like Judi had written that Best Buy Canada has this recycling program, so does Future Shop Canada.  The program at Future Shop Canada however will offer you up to $10 per movie.

Basically, trade in any DVD and save $5 on select Blu-ray titles or save $10 on select 3D Blu-ray titles.  You can trade in up to 20 DVD movies per day per customer and you can redeem one coupon per select Blu-ray or 3D Blu-ray movie purchase. There is a maximum of two of the same title per day.  Multiple disc DVD box-sets will be credited as one disc regardless of the number of discs in the set.

This is an awesome way to clean out your old movies that you either don’t watch or don’t like and get new ones.  With over 80 titles to choose from, there really is something for everyone.

Canada Day Online Clearance Sale @ Future Shop Now Online

Posted by on July 1, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Canada Day Online Clearance Sale @ Future Shop Now Online

There’s an online sale happening right now at Future Shop – and it’s only on for another 40 hours (as I write this post). There are deals in many categories from home theatre to cellphones, so it’s worth a browse.

There’s a good price on an entry-level Lenovo laptop - only $299.99. It’s a refurb but it comes with a 1 year warranty and a fairly decent specification. Check it out if you want a new laptop but don’t have a huge budget.

You can grab this Fujifilm 16MP Digital Camera and Lexar 8GB SDHC Memory Card for only $149.99 (down from $289.98). Fuji are a great brand when it comes to cameras and 16MP is a huge resolution! Would be great for snaps of your summer vacation.

In need of a basic washer and dryer? There’s a decent price on this Whirlpool 3.9 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer and 7.0 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer – down from $899.90 to only $699.98.

There are a few deals on the 64GB iPad 2 (wifi & 3G) – it’s down from $649.99 to $599.99. It’s hard to directly price compare as Apple don’t sell this model any more as it is slightly older, but the 16GB model is $550 on the Apple store. You’re paying an extra $50 at Future Shop for the 64GB model – a huge difference in storage capacity.

I’ve only highlighted a few of the sale items here, click through to see more!

JVC Xtreme Xplosives In-Ear Headphones Only $19.99 @ Future Shop

Posted by on June 17, 2012 at 5:00 PM

JVC Xtreme Xplosives In Ear Headphones Only $19.99 @ Future Shop

Time for a half price deal on some cool-looking headphones from Future Shop – you can get the JVC Xtreme Xplosives In-Ear Headphones for only $19.99, down from $39.99.

We’ve linked to the black set in the above link, but you can actually choose blue, green, pink, red and purple too – quite a good choice of colours available, to suit your mood. I prefer the blue ones.

In trying to price compare these headphones online to see how much they cost elsewhere, they are $40 at The Source, $35 at Canada Computers, $40 at Amazon, $40 at Staples – so we’re definitely on to a good price here at Future Shop.

In googling for reviews to see how good the headphones are, there are a couple of comments on Amazon.com, which could be worth a read. E.g. “Sound quality is very good and the headphones are comfortable.”

Shipping is only $1.99 on these alone, but if you make your order up to $20 or more, shipping would be free. Would be worth adding something small to your cart too.

So, if you’re looking for a well-priced set of good quality in-ear headphones, these could be just the ticket.

Future Shop Canada: Free Mario Game with Nintendo 3DS Purchase

Future Shop Canada: Free Mario Game with Nintendo 3DS Purchase

If you are in the market to get a Nintendo 3DS then make sure you get it at Future Shop before 21st June.  When you buy a Nintendo 3DS in any color, you will get your choice of a free Mario game to go with it.  The value of these games are $39.99.

Their Nintendo 3DS is reasonably priced at $169.99 and comes in your choice of 4 different colors. You also have 3 different games to choose from that would normally cost $39.99 but are yours free with your console purchase.

I wanted to do some price comparisons and I found this console at Walmart Canada for $149.99 but it did not come with the $40 game so Future Shop still has the better deal.    I also found the Nintendo 3DS at Amazon Canada for the same price that Future Shop has it but again it did not come with a free game.

To get the free game, make sure you have the console added to your cart first and when you add the game you selected from the list above, the discount will happen automatically at the checkout.  As an added bonus, since Future Shop offers free shipping on all orders over $20, you will not be charged any shipping costs!

Future Shop Canada: Playstation Sharp Shooter Bundle $79.99 (save $19)

Posted by on April 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM

Future Shop Canada: Playstation Sharp Shooter Bundle $79.99 (save $19)

Future Shop Canada has a pretty decent deal right now on their Playstation Sharp Shooter Bundle.  It is on sale for a limited time only for just $79.99.

Here it what this bundle includes:

    • Resistance 3
    • Killzone 3
    • PS Eye
    • PlayStation Move Navigation Controller
    • PlayStation Move Motion Controller
    • Sharp Shooter

Separately this bundle would cost a lot of money.  Right now it is on sale for just $79.99 (regular price is $99.95) and is on sale until 27th April 2012. I am not a big video games person but I have asked a few people that enjoy playing these types of games and they have told me that the 2 games included in the bundle are actually quite good ones.   Often times, stores through in less desirable games into the bundles to get rid of them but these 2 games are pretty great games.

Future Shop Canada: Sanus 23″ Tilting Flat-Panel TV Wall Mount now $9.99 (Reg $24.99)

Posted by on February 26, 2012 at 4:30 PM

Future Shop Canada: Sanus 23 Tilting Flat Panel TV Wall Mount now $9.99 (Reg $24.99)

This is a great deal for a smaller flat screen TV mount. The Sanus 23″ Tilting Flat-Panel TV Wall Mount is now only $9.99, regularly $24.99! You are saving $15 on this incredible cheap, small, but powerful little wall mount.

From what I have read, this will mount any 13 – 23″ TV to your wall. It comes with a 1 year warranty and no tools are required to adjust, it uses a tilt-only mechanism.

While you may be thinking that at this price, the wall mount must be a piece of junk… however it has got a 4.2/5 rating with 13 voters. I tried to find the mount on other websites and found the size larger, and it also had really good reviews. So if you have a smaller TV that would look lovely on one of your walls instead of taking up space wherever it is sitting right now, just grab this inexpensive wall mount to get the job done.

Shipping is free on orders of $20 or more.

Future Shop Canada: Pre-order Pink Nintendo 3DS & Get Free Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario 3D Land (before Feb 9)

Future Shop Canada: Pre order Pink Nintendo 3DS & Get Free Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario 3D Land (before Feb 9)

Right now at Future Shop Canada, if you pre-order a pink Nintendo 3DS, you will get a free game with it.  This deal is on  for a limited time only.  My guess is that is is valid until 9th February because  you will be able to get this system in stores as of 10th February.

When you pre-order this game system you will get to choose between a free Super Mario 3D Land game or a free MarioKart7 game.  Both of these titles are great games from Nintendo.  The Nintendo 3DS is available for just $169.99 which is a great deal considering everything you get.  I did a little price comparison for this deal and found a Nintendo 3DS (in blue) at Amazon for $184.99 (no game included).  I also found it at Best buy for the same price as Future Shop but no free game included either.  Future Shop had the best deal on this game system and you get a free game with it!
