Future Shop Canada: Sonax Queen Platform Bed $170 (Save $130)

Future Shop Canada: Sonax Queen Platform Bed $170 (Save $130)

Future Shop Canada has a great deal on the Sonax Queen Platform Bed Frame in black this weekend. Originally $299.99, the bed is now on sale for $169.99.

So this baby has a low profile design. You have a headboard and a footboard but they aren’t in your face. This is a platform frame so it can be used with or without a box spring. This gives you the option of not even buying a box spring which will save you money there. It fits standard queen size mattresses and has wooden slats for support. It is also black so will look good with pretty much any decor.

I did a little price comparing. I found a seller through Amazon Canada selling it for $322.99 and I found it at Staples for $269.94. was $229.99 with $69.99 shipping (ouch) and even BestBuy was $189.99. So Future Shop comes out on top with the best price of them all.

Get free shipping on this elevated bed frame as it costs over $20. There are limited quantity available.

The Bay Canada: 30 – 50% Off Select Furniture

Posted by on January 31, 2014 at 8:30 PM

The Bay Canada: 30 50% Off Select Furniture

The Bay Canada has a special sale with 30 to 50% off select furniture.

Have you just moved or are you looking for some beautiful new furniture? This sale at The Bay might be worth checking out. My favourite item in the sale is this lovely red leather Natuzzi Editions Recliner Lipari that was $1,799 and is now on sale for $899.50. The chair is upholstered in fully top grain Italian tanned leather. It has very good reviews with one reviewer saying:

When I sat in the Natuzzi recliner I thought that this was the most comfortable chair I had ever sat in. Then I reclined it. I now consider the existence of Heaven to be a distinct possibility.

I want to try this chair out now. Another great looking chair in the sale is this Franca Leather Swivel Recliner  that was $1,999 and is now $999.50. It is also upholstered in Italian leather (this time in black) and has an excellent minimal profile.

Unfortunately they will not let you order these pieces online, you will have to call the phone number 1-888-257-6784 to place an order. Not sure why they are like that but these are quite expensive pieces so I guess they don’t want someone just impulse buying. Who knows!

Best Buy Canada: Zuo Bar Stools Now $60 (Save $70)

Posted by on January 5, 2014 at 11:30 PM

Best Buy Canada: Zuo Bar Stools Now $60 (Save $70)

Best buy Canada has a really hot deal on Zuo Oxygen Bar Stools in either black, grey, or white. Save $70 per stool when you pay only $59.99 each.

The bar stools have a chrome base with a fully washable leatherette fabric (good for cleaning up spilled drinks). The seat is adjustable and goes from 24 inches up to 32.3 inches. Depending on the high of your dining room table, these might even work for that. They are certainly one of the most affordable, and still good looking, bar stools on the market right now.

There is only three stools left in white, and espresso is already sold out, but both grey and black appear to have plenty left. There are limited quantities available. I did a quick price comparison and the same stools at Lowes and they cost $122 each there.

You will get free shipping on orders of $20 or more. These do not appear to be available in store, just online.

Sears Canada: Hampton Dresser Only $750 (Was $1700)

Sears Canada: Hampton Dresser Only $750 (Was $1700)

I perused the Sears Outlet and found this little beauty – a Hampton 11-drawer dresser for almost $1000 off! Pay only $749.94, was $1699.99.

If you are looking for a dresser, this one is gorgeous. I love the deep cappuccino colour and the lines that give it a distinctive look. It has panelled details, square feet and nickel finish hardware. It comes with more drawers than you can count – well, I can count to eleven – six of them concealed behind glass doors. The top drawer is felt-lined for your most special clothes, like lingerie and underclothing.

Although I couldn’t find any other pieces for this set, if you just need a dresser, this is a steal! I actually love a mix and match style in my bedroom, as it gives it less of a cookie cutter look. My husband made our headboard out of a unique fabric he picked out. For a bedside table, you could use anything and there are some great ideas on Pinterest, like using step ladders or just a fold-out table. I find this makes for more of a unique and personalized look.

To my billing address, shipping was only $70, which is not too bad considering the amount you are saving. If you want to ship to a Sears location and pick it up, shipping costs were only $4. I suggest if you have a truck and can pick up, definitely go with the ship to store option. If not, shipping to your house is worth it.

Lowes Canada: 10% Off Sonax Furniture

Posted by on December 11, 2013 at 7:30 PM

Lowes Canada: 10% Off Sonax Furniture

Lowes Canada is offering 10% Sonax furniture currently. Furniture purchases tend to be a bit more expensive so 10% off can make a pretty nice dent in their cost.

This sale includes TV stands and mounts, bar stools, bedroom furniture, and office furniture.

This Sonax E-0062-BF Fiji 60″ TV/Component Bench was $206 and is now marked down to $185.40. It is a flat screen TV stand with several compartments for your PS3, blu-ray player, and various odds and ends. It will fit a variety of TV sizes and would probably hold at least up to a 55″ but you would probably want to check further details.

This CorLiving BMB-475-B Monterey Solid Wood Bunk Bed was $414 and is now marked down to $372.60. I like that it is made of real wood and it is a great way to save space in a kids bedroom. when I had a bunk-bed as a young kid I always loved taking the top bunk – my favourite place ever! It just felt like a little nest in the sky.

It looks like most of these items include free shipping right in the price. Check out our free shipping page while you are here.

October 28 47% Off Nero Accent Table – Now $79

Posted by on October 28, 2013 at 9:30 PM 47% Off Nero Accent Table Now $79

I found these cute little accent tables on for a pretty good price. They work well as an end table or as a bedside table for the ultra-modern folk. Originally $148, is offering the Nero Accent Table on sale for $79 with free shipping.

You have three colours to choose from:

I did some price comparing and the cheapest I could find this table anywhere else was for $109 and that did not include shipping (which wasn’t free). Usually I found this table priced around $128 or so with shipping as an extra fee.

The features I like about this table are the two-toned glass and the adjustable height. More tables should come with the ability to adjust to the height you want not at a fixed height.

Enjoy free shipping as per usual with For more free shipping/no minimum purchase deals, check out our free shipping page! Also, don’t forget! If you pay with Paypal you can get $25 off $75! Check more about that here.

Saving Money On Furniture

Posted by on October 26, 2013 at 8:00 PM

Saving Money On Furniture

Let’s face it: anything outside of Ikea furniture is expensive. When you’re furnishing your first place, Ikea furniture obviously makes sense. It’s cheap, it looks good, and everyone likes it, therefore they won’t judge you for being cheap with your furniture.

However, as you get older, buy a home, and are supposed to get more “grown up” furniture (or not, Ikea furniture is still good), you want to be able to have tasteful things in your home, but not for the high price. No, you don’t necessarily need to buy that $4000 La-Z-Boy couch, and you can get a nice non-Ikea couch for half that price.

There are a few considerations you need to make before you “invest” your money on furniture (not to mention the time spent hunting for it). Are you planning to move any time soon? If there is any possibility that you may be moving across the country or to another city, you might want to reconsider spending so much on that piece of furniture. Either you will have to sell it, which may be difficult depending on how organized you are, or you will have to move it to your city or province of destination which can be very costly, despite the ability to write the moving costs off for tax purposes.

Here are a few tips on how to save money on furniture:

Buy Used When You Can

I am a huge proponent of buying used furniture because it saves that piece of furniture from being thrown in the landfill, you usually get to buy the furniture already assembled (which is a major plus for certain Ikea pieces), and you get to acquire the furniture at a discount of 30% to 50% off the regular retail price for the most part.

Places to look for used furniture are and Kijiji (as we’ve talked about in length before)Freecycle is another option for used furniture. When shopping and answering or replying to ads, make sure that you call if there is the option (versus leaving an email message) because this helps keep the seller accountable. Unfortunately, with free ads like this, sometimes the sellers (and sometimes the buyers) can be flakey, so be aware.

Opt for Multipurpose Furniture

If you’re short on space as well as money, invest in furniture that can serve dual purposes. Some examples of multipurpose furniture are sofa beds, coffee tables that can convert to dining room tables (only if you are very short on space), or seating that has storage space underneath it. Captain beds (beds that have storage drawers underneath) are great as well.

Ask for a Discount or Wait for a Sale (on Big Ticket Items)

Probably one of the easiest ways to save money on furniture is by asking to see if there is a discount available. Oftentimes the sales personnel are hungry for a sale and will gladly give you a bit of a discount, especially if you purchase a few items. Note, this strategy only usually works at smaller furniture shops and does not work at Ikea!

If you can, wait for a sale to come around for a piece of furniture that you really have your eye on. Wait for a sale (or ask the sales staff when the next sale might be). For my La-Z-Boy L-shaped couch with chaise, I saved $1000 off the price because of a friends and family sale. Although the sales staff stayed late in order to ring in the purchase, they were happy because they were able to make a sale and meet their sales target/quota for the day.

Shop on (and now isn’t what is used to be and isn’t simply limited to books and CDs. They have recently added furniture as well, and there is a plethora of furniture options available. Most items include free super-saver shipping for orders over $25. With, shipping it to the shipping depot across the border can be a great way to save on furniture costs. Even if you have to pay duty and taxes, you can still save a decent amount. There are lots of items that can be purchased for cheap that can be easily packed up and put into your car. This includes bar stools, bedside tables, and even foam queen sized mattresses. Some items have great reviews and instead of paying $2000 for a foam mattress at a mattress shop, you can get one for $500 neatly packaged into a box that you can easily pick up at the border.

Furniture is expensive, no doubt. Therefore, saving money on the smaller pieces of furniture (for example bedside tables or bar stools) that don’t matter as much to your home decor can help you save money for the bigger ticket items that matter more.

Bargainmoosers, do you have a piece of furniture that you proudly saved money on?
