FactoryDirect.ca: Unlocked LG Eclypse Android Smartphone for $120 (Save $30)

Get a smartphone without breaking the bank and without a contract!

Factory Direct Canada has this phone up for $120. It isn’t sold by many people anymore but I did find it elsewhere for $150 so you’re saving at least $30. I’m going to be honest with you guys. This is not a fantastic phone. I don’t want anyone to be under the illusion that they are going to get a top of the line device when they get this phone. It is a budget buy. So why would I post a deal on a device that isn’t that great? Well, let me tell you.

There are actually a lot of reasons to get a lower end smartphone. The obvious reason is that some people don’t have the money. I am often heard complaining that I am broke but, honestly, I’m not doing too bad. I pay $50 a month for a phone and I’ve locked myself into a contract that requires me to pay $50 a month for three years. For Christmas I’m getting a phone that will lock me into three more years of paying $50 a month. It’s a pain but I’ve decided to do it ecause I can afford to. There are people out there for whom this is not an option. They just cannot afford $50 a month. For those people, this is a great choice. You get a smartphone and you can just get a phone plan on it without data.

There are other reasons though. Maybe your kid wants a smartphone or perhaps a parent who isn’t super tech savvy. It could even be a backup phone. I know when my phone broke all they had for a loaner phone was a BlackBerry and it was already out on loan. It could also be an emergency phone to leave in the car or a spare that you don’t mind beating up when you go four-wheeling or hiking. Maybe you just don’t care about the latest and greatest. My wife is a perfect example. I bought her a crummy little LG Android Smartphone. Whenever I use it I get chest pains because it is so terrible but she doesn’t care in the least. All the fancy features don’t appeal to her. If it plays music, lets her text and plays games, she’s all set.

    FactoryDirect.ca: 60GB PS3 “FAT” for Only $149.99

    FactoryDirect.ca: 60GB PS3 FAT for Only $149.99

**This is kind of a repost of an earlier deal, just slightly changed. If this article seems familiar, you haven’t lost your mind or accidentally fallen through a time machine and landed at the end of last August, it’s actually the same article slightly modified.

Sweet fancy mustard, this is an insane deal! FactoryDirect is giving you the opportunity to get this exceedingly rare, much sought after PS3. Don’t know why this is such an amazing deal? Read on!

First things first. Let’s talk about this deal. Shipping is $10. You can’t buy these in store anymore so I  hopped on eBay and the cheapest working unit I could find was about $250 + $75 shipping. That’s a savings of $165! This unit is only $149.99! I did find some on sale through 3rd party sellers on Amazon.com but they don’t ship to Canada and some of these sellers seem a bit sketchy, to be honest. These are also likely not professionally refurbished but rather just being sold by some dude who wants the money to put spinning rims on his truck. No offence to our spinning rims enthusiasts out there…

Ok, so why is this machine in such demand? Backwards compatibility. Only the first two waves of the PS3 had the ability to play PS2 games. The first one actually had an Emotion Engine (the PS2 GPU) in it and the second wave had a Graphics Synthesizer and software emulation. These were both taken out to save on costs. Truthfully it was probably a good idea because I don’t think the majority of people cared. People like me though, we cared. I got a PS3 pretty late in the game so I never even had a real chance at getting a PS2 compatible one.

So if you haven’t gotten a PS3 yet or have a PS3 and PS2 sitting under the TV that you want to consolidate, make sure you get this deal right away
