Sony Canada: Save $20 On eReaders & eReader Cases

Sony Canada: Save $20 On eReaders & eReader Cases

Put all your books in an eReader and your eReader in a case from Sony Canada!

Some of the items on sale are:

I am a huge proponent for eReaders. I think if you’re gonna read a book, having a paper book is dumb. That’s why my book is only on eReader and getting a paper copy is really a side project. If I get it out as a paperback, that’s fine. If I don’t get it out as a paperback, that’s fine too. The reason is that paper books, as much as people want to deny it, are dying. Amazon, the biggest book retailer in the world, is and has been for the last two years, selling more eBooks than paper books.

So if you haven’t made the jump to the eBooks world, or if you’re looking to upgrade your eReader, this is a great chance to do it. The Sony Reader is 6″ so it’s ultra portable, and the eInk touchscreen means that it will last a very long time between charges. For content you can shop the Sony eBook store or load your own ePub or PDF files

Standard shipping is free for smaller items, but the cost for express delivery and larger items depends on location and quantity/weight.

Amazon Canada: New Lower Price on Kindles

Posted by on April 27, 2013 at 10:00 PM

Amazon Canada: New Lower Price on Kindles

Amazon Canada has dropped the price on both the Amazon Kindle eReader and the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. The Kindle was $89 and is now $79. The Kindle paperwhite was $139 and is now $129.

I noticed a little bit ago that there was a price drop on these on the Amazon.com website and I was hoping we might see the same. I am so glad that we finally have!

So, what are the big differences between these two machines? That was the first question I asked myself and I thought you might want to know as well.

The biggest difference is in the screen. the regular Kindle uses an E Ink Pearl display where as the Kindle paperwhite uses the Paperwhite Built-in Light display. This provides a in-screen light and also a better resolution. Another big difference is the controller: the kindle uses a five way controller button located underneath the screen whereas the paperwhite has touch screen technology and uses two point multi-touch. Last but not least: battery. The regular kindle has a four week battery and the paperwhite has an eight week battery. Twice the juice!

No matter which device you go for, you can now get either for $10 cheaper and enjoy free shipping on all orders over $25.

Amazon Kindle: 14 Days of Kindle Deals for Kids & Teens

Posted by on August 20, 2012 at 9:00 AM

Amazon Kindle: 14 Days of Kindle Deals for Kids & Teens

Kids are going back to school soon but they still have some time to get some summer reading in. Amazon is offering discounts for the next couple of weeks on books for kids and teens.

The books on sale change every day so I can’t link to any of the deals but…

I might be biased here, but eBooks are really the future of books. Amazon, the worlds biggest book retailer, sells more eBooks than print books now. Even publishing companies, as slow as they are, are beginning to realize that eBooks are the future. The initial investment is a bit steep for some but the prices are coming down.

For example it is $79 for an ad supported Kindle in the states so, eventually, I suspect we’ll get those prices too. If you have a place to ship a kindle in the states, you can get the $79 one and use it in Canada. You can of course get other eReaders but generally, unless you catch a sale, they are about the same price.

That initial cost aside, eReaders are fantastic in so many ways. Money saving ways, actually. First off, there are a lot of self published authors, like myself, who put their books out for super cheap. Mine, for example, is only 99 cents. There are a lot at that price point as well as the $2.99 price point. If you happen to hate independent authors (shame on you!!)  then you’ll often find your favourite mainstream authors have their books up for cheaper as an eBook than the print versions.

With the Kobo wireless eReader weighing in at only 8 ounces, you can easily carry the Kobo Wireless eReader wherever you go.  This eReader was $109.99 and is now $79.99 which is a fantastic price.  I found a refurbished version of this Kobo eReader at Best Buy Canada on sale for $89.99.  I couldn’t believe they were charging $10 more than the brand new one at The Source for just $79.99!

    Check out a customers review:

After having read reviews about several of the Ereaders being sold, and after severals of gathering as much information i could, i bough the Kobo Onyx as being the best product including all features and the easy way to set up, navigation, etc…etc.. i’m extremely happy with my purchase and recommended this product to all my friends.

I suspect at this price, these Kobo eReaders will probably sell out pretty quick.

Sony Style Store: Sony Reader Touch Edition Now $99.99 (Was $249.99)

Posted by on March 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM

Sony Style Store: Sony Reader Touch Edition Now $99.99 (Was $249.99)

Though hard to price compare, I believe that this deal on a Sony Reader Touch Edition is really good. Sony Style Canada has the Sony eReader on sale for $99.99, original price was $249.99.

*** Use coupon code SONYVIP for an extra $5 off, making it $94.99.

I believe Sony is quality: we have both a Sony TV and a PS3 in our house and love both of them. I know people with Sony eReaders (Anna!) and they just love them… have never heard a complaint.

You get to choose from red, black or white for your eReader. What I love about the eReader is that it has 2 GB built in memory, and then additional dual memory expansion card slots to make your reading library virtually limitless. How sweet is that?

For $150 off, you really can’t go wrong!

The Source Canada: eReaders starting at $59.99

The Source Canada is having some great sales right now on their eReaders.  They have them priced as low as $59.99 for a limited time only.

Here are a few of the highlights:

With that great price on the Aluratek eReader, I checked online to price compare. The same model is $100 at Futureshop, $123 at Amazon, $110 at Newegg.ca, $110 at The Shopping Channel – so $60 is a super price from The Source.

We have an eReader at home and just love it.  As an added bonus, The Source Canada is also having a deal on eReader Cases right now.  Save 50% on select cases making them just $14.99 until 29th February 2012 as well.  You could pick up the Aluratek eBook Reader and the Aluratek Case for just $74.99 total!  That is such a great deal! It would also make a great gift for any avid readers out there.

Chapters Canada: $20 Off Kobo Vox Now $179

Get $20 off the regular price of a Kobo Vox in store and online at Chapters Canada.

There is no coupon code needed. This offer is not valid on kiosk orders.

Regular $199, the Kobo Vox is on sale for $179. Not only for reading, the Kobo Vox has a colour touch screen, can connect to Wi Fi to browse the Internet, check email, watch movies, shows and video, listen to music, and play games. It’s got 8GB of storage, or enough room for 8000 ebooks. You can buy an SD memory card up to 32GB if you need more storage.

A friend of mine got one as soon as they came out and she has nothing but good things to say about it, as does this reviewer

I purchased the VOX for my wife, and am pleasantly surprised at the capabilities of the unit. She enjoys the colour touch screen and the freedom it gives her to interact on Facebook, read a book and read her on-line magazines.

It’s a great “do it all” device – perfect if you want to do more than just read. If you are wanting a tablet and an ereader, this is a great idea!

The Kobo Vox will ship for free.
