Chapters Indigo Canada: 65 – 75% Off Head Phone Hat

Posted by on April 20, 2014 at 4:30 PM

Chapters Indigo Canada: 65 75% Off Head Phone Hat

Be quick little Moosers and pick up this fantastic deal on the Head Phone Hat by Echo Design Group. Originally $50, the plum colour is on sale for $12.50 and the black is on sale for $17.50.

The Plum hat is as shown above and the black one, Chapters doesn’t have pictures of, but it is a black hat with the head phone outline in white. Unfortunately, the aqua colour is already sold out and I assume these will be soon too.

Oddly enough, the Chapters description says that the hat “comes complete with removable standard headphones.” I confirmed this via the manufacturer’s website… which makes this an even more wicked deal. I’m not sure they would be that great of quality but any headphones are better than earbuds and you can always give them way to someone in need if you have a better set already.

The hat is made of lightweight knit that is suppose to be extremely comfy. It is a great way to keep your head warm while listening to your favourite music.

Amazon Canada: 45% Off Pink PS3 DualShock Remote – Now $30 (Was $55)

Posted by on April 19, 2014 at 2:30 PM

Amazon Canada: 45% Off Pink PS3 DualShock Remote Now $30 (Was $55)

Amazon currently has a pretty awesome deal on the PS3 DualShock remote in pink: while supplies last, you can get it for 45% off, at just $29.99 (reg. $54.99).

Now, I know that some of you may be wondering why I’m featuring a PS3 deal when the PS4 has been out for a couple of months now but fact of the matter is, I also know that many of you moosers have not updated to the new console yet. In fact, neither have I and I could actually use an extra remote to play Twisted Metal and the Resident Evil instalments and though I already have this same remote already, I certainly wouldn’t mind having an extra pink one to throw over to my hubby when his white own needs recharging!

Speaking of PS3 games, a couple of days ago, Anna wrote about a great deal at Newegg on Beyond: Two Souls, which is now down to just $29.99 (reg. $59.99) and even ships for free. So be sure to also grab yourself a copy of that game as well if you don’t have it already. It has some pretty good reviews and if the main character looks familiar, it’s because she was designed upon Ellen Page’s own features!

Even better is that since Amazon ships all orders over $25 for free, you won’t be paying any shipping fees when you order this remote!

Dell Canada: Up to 50% Off Electronics Easter Sale

Dell Canada is offering up to 50% off select electronics and computers this Easter weekend.

Pick up either the Dell 23 Monitor – E2314H or the Dell 22 Monitor – S2240L for just $149.99 each this weekend after saving $50 off the regular price of $199.99. I’m really not sure what the difference is except for 1″ of size and a 1% colour gamut difference.

If you have not been a responsible computer owner and still need to update your anti-virus, then make sure to get the McAfee Download – McAfee Internet Security 3 PC 2014 for just $12.99, originally $69.99. If you don’t like just the download version and want a disk as well, you can get the disk version for $14.99.

This Toshiba Portable Bluetooth Speaker & Speakerphone is an absolute steal at $40 off the original price. Originally $69.99, it is now on sale for $29.99. Unlike many other speakers, this one has all the buttons you need to control your music without needing to be near the music player.

The Source: Ematic 7” HD Quad Core 8GB Tablet $88 (Save $62)

The Source: Ematic 7 HD Quad Core 8GB Tablet $88 (Save $62)

The Source Canada has an enchanting deal on an Ematic  7” HD quad core tablet with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Google Play. Originally $149.99, the tablet is now on sale for $87.99.

The device comes with a 1.5GHz quad core processor with a dedicated GPU. It stores plenty of apps and games on its 8GB of flash memory space that you can expand up to 32GB via its microSD card slot. Those cards aren’t too expensive either.

Use the 5GB of included cloud storage to stream your music and movies to your tablet also. The screen is a 7″ HD 1024×600 capacitive touchscreen. An excellent device for this price. You can choose from black, red, blue, yellow, green, or pink.

I price compared with a few places to make sure you were getting the best deal. I found the device on the Amazon.ca marketplace for $124.99. I found a bunch on eBay.ca for anywhere between $120 to $160. I then found them in stock at Sears.ca for $107.99 but expect a $4 handling charge and then shipping unless you want to pick it  up at your local store. Either way, The Source Canada has by far the best deal.

Amazon Canada: KitchenAid Artisan Mixer Only $280 (Was $500) – EXPIRED

Posted by on April 14, 2014 at 12:00 PM

Amazon Canada: KitchenAid Artisan Mixer Only $280 (Was $500) EXPIRED

Amazon has a terrific deal on the onyx black KitchenAid Artisan 5-quart stand mixer, now only $280.41, was $499.99. I price compared at other Canadian retailers and couldn’t find this exact stand mixer for less than $499, so this is a really great deal.

I love the sleek look of the onyx black stand mixer. This would make a showpiece on any kitchen counter, not to mention it is extremely handy and practical. I do love the empire red, but someone with a neutral colour scheme would probably want to jump on this deal.

With 325 watts of mixing power, you can cream butter, knead dough, whip cream and basically bake up anything you want so much easier than you could with your own two hands. It comes with three attachments – a flat beater, a wire whip and a hook. Each has its use for different textures and designs. For example, you’d use the wire whip for making air-infused creations like whip cream or even homemade mayo. Yeast doughs require the hook to get in there and knead that dough. Each attachment goes on easily with a simple twist.

The stainless steel bowl is five quarts and has an ergonomic handle and a pouring spout so you don’t spill your creation all over the counter. The beater spins uniquely so it reaches 67 different points around the bowl at ten different speeds. Your own hands can’t say the same, now can it?

This item will also ship free from Amazon.

Buytopia Canada: $5 for a Clip Shuffle MP3 Player with Earphones & USB Cable

Posted by on April 13, 2014 at 3:30 PM

Buytopia Canada: $5 for a Clip Shuffle MP3 Player with Earphones & USB Cable

I came across this deal at Buytopia and I don’t think I have seen a deal this great in a long time.  Get a clip shuffle MOS player with the headphones and the USB cable for just $5!

Paying just $5 is 90% off the regular price of $49.  It just doesn’t get better than that!

As I said above, you will get a Clip Shuffle MP3 player, the headphones and the USB cable for just $5.  There are two other choice for this deal as well though.  You can also get a 2GB one for $7, or a 4GB one for just $9 as well.

They come in eight different colours to choose from and they have a built in 100mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, card slot supporting micro SD/TF card up to 8GB.  The easy to use clip makes this the perfect product for working out at the gym, walking the dog or even just going for  walk or a run around the neighborhood.

Here are a couple of people that have already got this deal:

I’m somewhat of a MP3 player snob so was skeptical about this one when buying it for my nephew as his first MP3 player. Very impressed by the sound quality and how easy it is to work!- Jake L

I got an 8GB card and it holds quite a bit of music. I’ve put over 1000 songs on this thing and it still isn’t nearly filled up. The Mp3 player is holding up with heavy use as well, quite impressed.- Kegan G

You will be able to buy as many as you would like for yourself and as gifts.  It will take 4-6 weeks for delivery after the deal ends.  As for the cost of shipping, it is $6.99.  If you consider that the deal is just $5, even with the shipping it is still a steal of a deal!

WagJag Canada: 73% Off Flat USB Cords for iPhone 4/4S or Samsung S3/S4

WagJag Canada: 73% Off Flat USB Cords for iPhone 4/4S or Samsung S3/S4

There is another fantastic accessory deal right now at WagJag Canada that I am sure many of you will want to take advantage of.  Save up to 73% on flat USB cords for your iPhone 4/4S or Samsung S3/S4.

There are two different options for this deal to purchase:

  • $9 for 1 flat USB cable (a $30 value)
  • $16 for 2 flat USB cables (a $60 value)

The second deal is 73% off the regular cost so it is pretty incredible. I actually go through a lot of these because either I lose the cords, or I end up wanting to charge my phone in any room of the house so I will be going for the two USB cable deal.

The cables will work for any of the cell phones mentioned above. You will be able to choose from 6 colours and they are durable and reliable and very easy to store because they are flat. Choose from pink, white, blue, black, green and purple. They are compatible with both Mac and PC systems.  The 4ft. long USB connector cord allows you to sync or charge your iPhone 4/4S or Samsung Galaxy S3 or S4 devices to your computer.

Once you place your order, it will take just 2-4 weeks for the delivery (after the closing date below).  Something like this is a great little gift idea because everyone nowadays have a cell phone.  I actually know a few people that have two of them!

The cost of shipping is a very inexpensive $2.50.

Dell Canada: Laptop or Desktop for Under $400

Dell Canada: Laptop or Desktop for Under $400

Need to replace your clunky old laptop with the blue screen of death or need a new desktop on a budget? Dell Canada has two deals on right now where you can buy a brand new desktop or a laptop for under $400 each.

First of all let me introduce you to my little friend the Inspiron 3000 Small Desktop. Regularly priced at $449.99, this computer is now on sale for $399.99. He comes with 4GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Premium for all of us who abhor Windows 8 *shudder*. The design is super compact so it won’t take up a lot of space in your home. One of my favourite features is the multi-media card reader, which I use on my computer all the time when transferring photos from my DSLR. As per usual, monitor and accessories must be purchased separately if you don’t already have them.

The second fantastic deal is on this little Inspiron 15 (non-touch) laptop. Originally $379.99, it is now down to $349.99. The next time my mother does in her current laptop she is totally getting one of these. This is the perfect basic laptop for anyone needing to use a word processor, social media, and email. It also features 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive so, in my humble opinion, it is better than the desktop because it has its own built in monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Rogers: Reserve a Samsung Galaxy S5 and get a $50 Pre-Paid Mastercard (Only 10,000 Available)

Rogers: Reserve a Samsung Galaxy S5 and get a $50 Pre Paid Mastercard (Only 10,000 Available)

Reserve Samsung’s newest flagship phone at Rogers and get a $50 prepaid Mastercard!

This is a limited quantity offer so I don’t know how many are left or how long it will last. If you want to get in on this deal, do it right now.

If you are one of the first 10,000 people to reserve the new Samsung Galaxy S5 on a two year plan from Rogers, you will get a $50 pre-paid Mastercard which is good, because these phones are getting expensive. The pre-paid card won’t be a physical card, it will be on this totally awesome new technology called SureTap, which is going to be a place to pay for things using your smartphone! I had the OG Galaxy S and I currently have a Galaxy Note II both of which were going for $200 on a two year plan. I think I got a deal on the Note II but still, it was retailing at $200. And I thought $200 was expensive. Now they are bumping it up to $249.99. Why, back in my day I could go to the phone store with a nickel, buy three smart phones and still have enough left to make a mortgage payment.

But that’s just the way things go nowadays so you might as well take advantage of the deal and get a great phone while you’re at it. The Samsung phones really are great hardware. If you have a Galaxy S4 or a higher end phone from that generation, you probably don’t need to upgrade as the jump isn’t that great but if you have something around a Galaxy S3 or a lower end phone, this is a great one to get.

Amazon Canada: Up to 66% Off Samsung Galaxy S4 Covers

Posted by on April 5, 2014 at 3:30 PM

Amazon Canada: Up to 66% Off Samsung Galaxy S4 Covers

Amazon Canada has discounted their stock of Samsung Galaxy S4 Flip Covers by various amounts depending on what colour you want.

The best deal of the whole bunch is on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Flip Cover Folio Case, Pink which was $39.99 and is now only $13.53. This is a huge price drop and if you love pink, or are indifferent to the colour, this might be your ticket to a really cheap cover.

However, for only a few cents more you can get your pick of several other colours. The Light Blue is on sale for $13.91, as is the Green  and the Orange . That is 65% off the original price and a pretty great deal if you are toting around a Samsung Galaxy without a proper screen protector.

The Black is only on sale for $23.64 and the White costs $22.92 which are both still great deals compared with paying full price but I really recommend trying out a coloured cover to get the better deal.

Now I price compared with Best Buy and Future Shop, which both have all of these covers still priced at $39.95. Conclusion: this sale rocks.

Microsoft Store: 64GB Surface RT Tablet + Free Touch Cover (Only $299!)

Posted by on April 3, 2014 at 5:00 PM

Microsoft Store: 64GB Surface RT Tablet + Free Touch Cover (Only $299!)

Get a great tablet at a great price!

I’m here to defend Microsoft. Are you feeling okay, Shawn? Yeah, I’m okay. A little tired but I’m good. Why do you ask? Because you hate Microsoft, Shawn! Why would  you defend them? Well, it’s kind of like a punk rock teenager who hates the establishment cleaning himself up and getting a job at Starbucks while he gets his GED so he can go to college. It’s fine to rage and hate against something blindly but sooner or later (most) people grow up. I used to hate everything Microsoft did, now I’ve come to realize that it’s not all bad. I’ve grown up. That’s right, even me, a nerdy version of anti-establishment punks, can see that Microsoft Surface is a good product.

First off, it’s Microsoft. Most people use Microsoft Windows on their computers so most people are familiar with it. The Windows RT OS that runs on Surface tablets is very similar (almost identical, actually) to the the latest desktop version of the OS, Windows 8. If you’ve been using Windows 8, the tablet is going to be a pick-up-and-go product since you already know the UI. If you, like many people, have looked at Windows 8 and thought that it would really be better on a tablet, well, here’s the tablet with (essentially) Windows 8 on it.

On top of all that you’re getting a full sized 10″ tablet with 64GB of storage AND a free touch cover for only $299. That’s a steal. Listen, I’m no dummy. If you have a Macbook and an iPhone, you are probably sunk in to the Apple world too much to get this. If you’ve bought a new Android phone every year since the G1 came out and you use your stack of old Android tablets as a step stool, you probably aren’t going to switch now. Of maybe you are, maybe you want a change. I think the real market for this deal is the person with a flip phone and a Windows computer. Or the proverbial grandma who will never learn to use a computer but could really use it to talk to her grandkids in Russia. Or even the person who already has a Windows phone. I don’t see many around but some of those Nokia Windows phones are great.

Shipping on these is free.

Apple Canada: Refurbished iPod Nanos Only $99 (Save $50)

Apple Canada: Refurbished iPod Nanos Only $99 (Save $50)

Apple Canada recently restocked their refurbished iPod section which was pretty much sold out. Right now they have a nice selection of refurbished 7th generation 16GB iPod nanos for sale for only $99 which is $50 off the regular retail price of an iPod nano.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and under “More Stores” select “Refurbished & Clearance” and then the iPod selection. Apple has this wee issue with deep linking.

There are five colours currently in stock in the refurbished section: blue, green, silver, yellow, or pink.

This is the cheapest you are going to find an iPod nano. Don’t be afraid to buy refurbished either: I have done so many times and never had a problem. As I have mentioned before, refurbished products come with the full one year warranty as well as a new battery and outer shell. This means your refurbished product is cosmetically perfect, has full battery life, and is covered for an entire year against any problems.

The only thing left to do is decide which colour you want and buy it before they sell out. Usually the refurbished items sell out pretty fast because the price cuts are so fantastic.

You get free shipping on these because they cost over $75.

Google: Chromecast – Stream Websites, Netflix and More from your Android or iOS to your TV for only $39!

Posted by on April 1, 2014 at 9:00 AM

Google: Chromecast Stream Websites, Netflix and More from your Android or iOS to your TV for only $39!

Chromecast has come to save you from terrible interfaces and expensive equipment. Stream with ease for only $39!

Chromecast! I’ve been wanting a Chromecast for a long time but they were only available in the U.S. I was going to get one when I went to the states in December but I didn’t end up going. Then I was going to get one when I went to the states last month but they went and released it in Canada. So now I can buy them by the bucket load and have them delivered right to me!

Right, so what is a Chromecast, why do you want one and why is it on a deals site? A Chromecast is a little stick you plug in to the HDMI port on your HDTV or computer monitor. From there you can stream stuff from your Android phone to your TV. Simple as that. Plug the stick in, open up a Chromecast enabled app on your Android phone, hit the Chromecast button in the app and it pops up on your TV. It had been just the Google Chrome browser, YouTube and Netflix that you could be Chromecasted but Google recently opened up the API so tons of apps are becoming Chromecast enabled. There are even a bunch of music streaming services opening it up so you can play music fro your favourite service through your TV sound system.

That all sounds good but why do you, the consumer, want this? Partially for ease of use and partially for the price. We’ll get to price later so let’s talk ease of use. I don’t know how you watch Netflix now but if it’s on your TV, there is a chance that the experience sucks. if you are using a smart TV with a Netflix or YouTube app, for example, I can almost promise that it stinks. Smart TV apps are almost universally clunky, slow and outdated. A lot of Android apps are the opposite of that. They are intuitive and kept up to date. Chromecast let’s you use the touchscreen interface of your Android phone or tablet to control what’s on your TV.

And there is price. Chromecast is only $39. That’s right. $39. Compare that to almost any streaming box like a Roku, Boxee, Apple TV or WD Live TV and it’s going to be cheaper by at least $60. That’s why it’s on this site. Even when it’s not on sale, it’s over 50% cheaper than anyone else. And while another box might have Netflix and YouTube and maybe a few other apps, the Chromecast supports any app that enables it. Making your app Chromecast enabled is supposed to be super easy to just about every video or audio app out there is enabling it. If your favourite app isn’t Chromecast enabled, drop the developer an email and make sure they get on it!

If you want to stream stuff from the internet of your personal media library to your TV Chromecast is, without doubt, the way to go.

Chapters Indigo Canada: $20 Off BEM Wireless Speakers – Now $49.95

Posted by on March 29, 2014 at 11:30 AM

Chapters Indigo Canada: $20 Off BEM Wireless Speakers Now $49.95

Chapters Indigo Canada is selling these beautiful little cube BEM Wireless Mobile Speakers for $20 off their regular price. Originally $69.95, they are now on sale for $49.95.

This little square speaker comes in three colour choices: red, white, or purple. It is a tiny little speaker measuring only 2.5″ cubed so it takes up less room than a tennis ball and offers tunes wherever life takes you. It connects via Bluetooth to your phone, tablet, other device of miscellaneous origin. The cube also accepts some basic commands as it has a volume up and down button built in and a play/pause button in case you need to suddenly stop the music.

I checked out PCMag which is pretty known for reviewing electronics and they gave the BEM Wireless Speaker a 4/5 rating with the following comments:

Pros: Very portable design. Rich, full audio at moderate-to-very-loud volume levels. Includes actual AC adapter rather than just USB charging cable (a rarity in budget speaker options).
Cons: Distorts at maximum volume levels.
Bottom Line: The Bem Wireless Mobile Speaker packs more powerful audio into its tiny frame than some speakers twice the size.

That review is at the original price point so at this lower price point this speaker is pretty awesome.

You will get free shipping on this because it costs over $25.
