Future Shop: Free $10 GC With $100+ Reserve & Pick-Up in Store

Posted by on December 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Future Shop: Free $10 GC With $100+ Reserve & Pick Up in Store

Future Shop has a fantastic little promotion on for today and tomorrow. Receive a free $10 gift certificate when you reserve and pick-up your order in store worth over $100.

To receive your gift certificate, your purchase must be online. When you go to checkout, simply choose the reserve for in-store pickup option and choose your closest Future Shop location. My closest Future Shop is about a five-minute drive away, so I actually chose this option with my Sony SRS-X5 speaker. I highly recommend this speaker; I enjoy it almost every day and it is a fantastic mid-priced speaker if you want quality at an affordable price. Originally $199.99, the speaker is currently on sale for $149.99.

Your gift certificate will be emailed to you approximately 10 days after you have picked up your purchase from the store. The certificate has no cash value, and must be used January 9 – 30, 2015 only. There is no minimum purchase required, so you could just purchase a $10 item and get it for free.

One of the other beneficial things about this deal is that the product you want does not have to be available for purchase online. There are two lines with boxes (usually green) under any product. One says “available online” and one says “reservable in-store.” Your item merely needs to be reserveable in-store for this deal to work.

This deal is just really cool as it is from one of the giant companies and it just happens to be one of the big electronics companies. I love electronics and – since our local Best Buy closed down – Future Shop is the place to go.

There are plenty of last minute gifts you may want to pick up this way. Purchase the Nintendo Wii U 32GB Super Mario 3D World Deluxe Set for $299.99 and receive a free $40 gift card AND the free $10 gift certificate when you reserve and then pick up in store.

The gorgeous Dyson Animal Handheld Vacuum (DC34) is on sale for $179.99; you save $50 and get a free $10 gift certificate when you reserve to pick it up in store. Anyone want to buy a Dyson for me?

There is a limit of one gift certificate per person. This promotion is only available for two days. Best Buy Canada – the twin sister of Future Shop – has the same offer on as well.

Newegg: Anker 40W 5-Port USB Charger Only $28

Posted by on December 22, 2014 at 11:47 AM

Newegg: Anker 40W 5 Port USB Charger Only $28

Newegg Canada has a very good deal Pre-Boxing Day on the Anker 40W 5-Port Family-Sized Desktop USB Charger. Originally $49.99, this 40W USB charger is on sale for $22.99 plus $4.99 shipping for a total of $27.98.

This price is only valid for the white unit; the black unit is still full price. For a little perspective, Amazon Canada is selling the Anker 40W five-port USB charger for $35.99 currently. For an even better comparison, I have blogged about this Anker USB charger before, when it was on sale for $29.99 from Amazon Canada. That was the cheapest I have ever seen it so this offer from Newegg Canada is a couple dollars better.

One of the things I love about Anker is their universal compatibility. With POWERIQ technology, the USB charger adapts to whatever device you throw at it, be it Android or iPhone, to output the correct amount of power for that unit. That is why this Anker 5-port charge is compatible with so many different units including the iPhone, iPad, Galaxy, Note, Tab, Google Nexus, PS Vita, Gopro, and other external batteries.

I have read reviews on both Amazon and Newgg for this unit. It is so interesting to see all the rave reviews on Amazon to come across to Newegg and see the wide spectrum of reviews. Some reviewers have found that one of the five ports has a tendency to fail – primarily port #3. Oddly enough, this is not widely documented on other sites.

Now, I bought one of these USB charges because we now own a zillion electronics that charge via USB. With two phones, a tablet, and portable speakers… there is always something on the charger. We have our plugging spaced at #1, #3, and #5. I have been using mine since September and none of the ports has failed. Anker is generally very good about their warranties so if you have a problem, make sure to contact them.

This is part of Newegg Canada’s Pre-Boxing Day sales event happening right now. There are other deals you might find interesting in the sale, like this EVGA TORQ X10 901-X1-1103-KR Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse on sale for $42.99 + $4.99 shipping. There is even a $10 rebate for the mouse, so in the end it will cost you $32.99 plus shipping.

Future Shop Canada Boxing Day Flyer Is Out Now! (Dec 24-28)

Posted by on December 21, 2014 at 3:30 PM

Future Shop Canada Boxing Day Flyer Is Out Now! (Dec 24 28)

The Future Shop Canada Boxing Day flyer has just been released. This flyer is pretty exciting with 47 pages stacked with deals. Remember, if shopping online at FutureShop.ca you can also receive free shipping on orders over $25. This does not apply to oversized items though.

This Future Shop Boxing Day sale will start on the 24th of December at 8 PM EST at FutureShop.ca but the in store sales will start on the 26th of December at 6 AM. I suggest getting into your closest Future Shop Canada store early on Boxing Day to ensure the item you wish to purchase is not sold out by the time you get there. There are no rain checks.

The iPhone 6 has been a big release this year; I was hoping to see a lot of deals on it during all of these Boxing Day sales. I actually have not been too impressed with the offers I have seen so far. Future Shop is offering the iPhone 6 starting at $29.99 after a $50 trade in or $79.99 without a trade in. Of course, there is a catch – this only applies to select 2-year new activation or renewal plans.

Now I was impressed with some of the TV deals at Future Shop during their Boxing Day sales. The Samsung 50″ 4K Series LED Ultra HD Smart TV is only $899.99 which is $800 off the previous price. I wouldn’t even need to go to the movie theatre anymore if I had a TV like this, it would be an investment, right?

While Future Shop Canada might not be the first place you think of buying a cookware set from, this offer might change your mind. During the Boxing Day sales at Future Shop, you can save up to 75% off a huge selection of cookware sets. The Paderno 13 Piece Avonlea Stainless Steel Cookware Set was $849.99 and will be only $249.99 during the Boxing Day event. This offer will be available online only.

There are other offers available too – save up to $700 on major appliances and save up to $100 on Apple products among many other deals. All of the Future Shop Canada Boxing Day sale items will be limited in quantity and limited to one per household.

Here are just a few of the first pages of the Future Shop Canada Boxing Day flyer. You can view the full flyer here.

Dell 28″ Ultra HD Monitor Just $299 (Save $200) @ Microsoft Canada (HOT!)

Posted by on December 21, 2014 at 1:30 PM

Dell 28 Ultra HD Monitor Just $299 (Save $200) @ Microsoft Canada (HOT!)

**BUMP** This deal is back on for an early Boxing Day sale so rather than re-blog it, I am just going to bump up this post.

Microsoft has a sweet deal on this large Dell 28″ Ultra HD monitor. Originally $499, the monitor is now on sale for just $299 so you save $200 and receive free shipping on your purchase.

Details my lovelies! This huge monitor features a 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution for crystal clear images of incredible quality. It will look like those flowers on your wallpaper are actually growing. This is considered a 4K monitor as it has four-times the resolution of a regular full HD. The non-glare LED panel makes this a fantastic unit for watching movies.

The P2815Q Dell monitor has all the ports you need to connect external devices. Enjoy an ample four USB 3.0 ports, three DisplayPorts, and an HDMI port.

This will make a great work monitor, movie-watching monitor, or a great monitor for your business. However, the monitor has too low a refresh rate to be great for gamers. This monitor’s refresh rate is 30hz, whereas gamers will want a monitor with 60hz for long periods of gaming. Eyestrain can become a real problem with lower refresh rates.

This is the P2815Q model from Dell so I price compared it there and anywhere else I could find it. At Dell, they have the original price of this monitor $100 higher than the original listed price at the Microsoft Store. The monitor is listed at Dell to retail for $599.99 and is now on sale for $399.99. I find that Dell is guilty of this a lot, boosting the original retail value so it makes their sales look more impressive. Personally, I am not impressed.

While this monitor is not available on Amazon Canada anymore, I did find some very useful reviews like this one:

Pixels! Pixels! Pixels! This has much more real-estate than my U3014 (2560×1600) which was almost double the price. As a programmer and someone who works with large documents, this is a unique capability for a bargain price.
Can be landscape or portrait. This monitor can display documents with 4K pixels top-to-bottom. Many of the large format monitors do not support this mode of operation.

I think it is cool that you can use the monitor in portrait position; I have never had a monitor that could do that. Hey Moosers, what would you use this monitor for?

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera Only $60 @ Shop.ca

Posted by on December 21, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera Only $60 @ Shop.ca

The popular Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera is on wish lists around the country this holiday season. The cute little bundle that delivers instant gratification in the form of printed pictures has been a popular purchase for months now. Shop.ca has the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera including a Fujifilm Instax Mini 2-Pack Instant Film on sale for $80. Pick up a $20 off $50 unique coupon code here or here or here and the bundle comes down to only $60.

I have given you three different Facebook links for the unique $20 off $50 coupon codes so there should be at least one coupon that you have not used before on previous purchases. Shop.ca has the lowest deal when you apply the unique coupon code. Here is the price comparison with other retailers:

  • $74.95 @ Staples Canada
  • $79.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $79.99 @ Future Shop Canada
  • $64.99 @ Amazon Canada (without film)
  • $77.99 @ The Source Canada

I watched these things on Black Friday, and the best deal was still around $80. Thus, this coupon and sale combination at Shop.ca is the best purchase I have seen so far.

These little cameras are very cool and make great gifts for young shutterbugs. They are rugged, produce photos almost immediately, and come in cute pastel colours. The only downside is that film is very expensive so you will need to watch for it to go on sale. As this reviewer says:

I purchased this camera as a end of school gift to my daughter, because she had great marks. The film size reminds me of the photo booth pictures in the shopping malls. I like the fact she can take some pictures and instantly share that memory with her friends. The only downside to the product is that the film is expensive but i knew that before I purchased the camera.

This is a very nice gift to get a child for having good marks at school. The camera comes in Pink, Black, Yellow, or Blue. It includes a wrist strap, two batteries, the camera, and the 2 x 10 film pack.

Shop.ca offers free shipping on every purchase.

Skullcandy Ink’d 2 Only $9.99 & Free Shipping @ Microsoft Canada

Posted by on December 20, 2014 at 8:32 PM

Skullcandy Inkd 2 Only $9.99 & Free Shipping @ Microsoft Canada

Are you looking for an inexpensive set of ear-buds? Pick up the Skullcandy Ink’d 2 Earbuds with Inline Mic for just $9.99 with free shipping. These earbuds originally retailed for $24.99 so you save $15.

This is the second edition of the Skullcandy Ink’d ear phones that make a stylish and affordable pair of buds to just throw in your pocket or in your backpack. I price compared with other companies, as they are a popular sale item. Here is what you will pay at other retailers:

  • $14.99 @ Future Shop Canada
  • $14.99 @ The Source Canada
  • $19.99 @ Sport Chek Canada

This deal is better at Microsoft for two reasons. First, the ear buds are $5 cheaper, which saves you an extra 33%. In addition, Microsoft is the only one out of all these stores that offers free shipping with no minimum so you do not need to buy anything else.

The little earbuds have 11 mm drivers for huge sound in a small frame. They come with two extra sets of gel tips for a comfortable fit. An inline mic lets you control your music from the cord and accept incoming calls.

Choose from black, black/red, or pink/black. Purple/black is already out of stock. Looking at all the websites, this set of earbuds is rated very well by owners. This reviewer said:

I am very impressed with these headphones, I was skeptical at first, but the sound quality is great. Excellent response. Good base. You can hear the whole frequency spectrum, which is surprising for headphones at this price. I got them on 50% sale, I wish I had ordered more.

For $10, I do not think you can go wrong with these. Now, if you need something a bit more over the ear, I recommend purchasing the Coloud Boom Nokia Headphones for just $14.99, originally $35.99. You can get them in red, yellow, black, or cyan right now. They are a good basic set of headphones and I like that they do not feature any heavy amount of branding on them. Sure, I like my brands but I do not like to be a walking billboard.

Unfortunately, these will not be delivered in time for Christmas but they still are a good deal and very inexpensive for anyone needing a new headset.

NCIX Canada: Boxing Day Flyer Out Now & Prices Live On 24th Dec 2014

Posted by on December 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM

NCIX Canada: Boxing Day Flyer Out Now & Prices Live On 24th Dec 2014

NCIX, the popular Canadian electronics and computer retailer, has just released their Boxing Day flyer and we’ve got a copy up on our Boxing Day deals forums!

The actual time and date of the start of the NCIX Boxing Day sale is the 24th December 2014, at 4.30PM PST – mark it in your calendars or set a reminder on your phone. There are only 5 pages in the flyer so I am sure that there will be more deals available on the day, they just cannot squeeze them all in to the flyer. The flyer shows us a synopsis of the best Boxing Day bargains.

If there was something in particular you were looking for, perhaps a new computer or a big-screen TV, it’s an absolutely great idea to get researching now. Take this Boxing Day flyer from NCIX, see if there’s anything that you like, and price compare elsewhere. Then you will be fore-armed with knowledge as to the best deals and where to spend your hard-earned cash.

We cannot write about every single item in this blog post, but here are a few of the highlights.

LG 47” 1080p 120Hz smart LED TV was $698 will be $548 – I’m not sure which exact model it will be as the flyer doesn’t say, but I’ve linked to the 2 LG TVs that fit into that category. Both are $698 so $549 will be a great price. If it’s the 47LB5830, the lowest price elsewhere for it is $687 anyway. And the lowest price for the 47LB6100 is $699. This is one of the flyer headliners so there may not be many in stock. If you are interested, I’d plan to be online the instant the NCIX sale commences.

Logitech Harmony Ultimate One Universal Remote Control was $248 will be $148 – this remote control is $250+ everywhere else, so it’s a super price. They may not have many of this one either – get in early to secure your bargains.

Sennheiser HD558 Headphones were $279.99 will be $139.99 – these bad boys aren’t sold at many stores and the cheapest I have seen this model in the past was $159.99. You can pick them up for $180 @ Amazon just now, but the NCIX price of $140 in their Boxing sales is much better. I want Sennheisers!

Logitech G502 Proteus Core Gaming Mouse was $79.99… and the price is too low to show on the flyer! Just now, it’s priced at $59.99 on site, so I’d expect it to be at least lower than that. We’ll check back on the day in question to see the price on that.

There are tons more items in the NCIX Boxing sales, click through and check it out.

As for shipping from NCIX, it depends on what you are buying. Some items have free shipping, some don’t, but you can see this on the individual product pages once the Boxing Day sales starts. Also, there is supposed to be free shipping on orders over $50.

Here’s the full flyer:

Save up to $200 on PCs and 50% off Other Electronics @ Dell Canada’s Boxing Day Sale (Starts 26 Dec)

Posted by on December 19, 2014 at 7:50 PM

Save up to $200 on PCs and 50% off Other Electronics @ Dell Canadas Boxing Day Sale (Starts 26 Dec)

The Dell Canada Boxing Day flyer is available for  you to view now. Stay home this Boxing Day and enjoy big savings. There will be lots of limited quantity doorbusters available during this Dell.ca Boxing Day Sale. The sale will start as early as 6 a.m. EST on Friday the 26th of December. This Dell Boxing Day sale will end on the 29th of December.

I think most people relate Boxing Day to excellent offers on electronics, TVs and computers. It is the best time of the year to get discounts on any of these items you may need. During the Dell.ca Boxing Day sales you can save up to $200 off select computers and up to 50% off other electronics and accessories.

There seem to be quite a few decent offers in the Dell.ca Boxing Day flyer. If you are in need (or want) a tablet, the new Dell Venue 8 Pro 3000 Series Tablet will allow fun and productivity to meet. This tablet was $219.99 but during the Boxing Day sales you will pay as low as $149.99. The Dell Venue 8 Pro 8″ 32GB Tablet is $299.95 @ BestBuy.ca.

The Dell 24 Monitor seems to be popular. You can purchase this particular Dell 24 Monitor E2414H for just $119.99 during the Dell.ca Boxing Day sale, which is 50% off the regular price. This monitor has full HD and a max of 60Hz which is basically 60 fps. If you are gaming, most games are set to suit 60Hz anyway. This Dell 24 Monitor is $199.98 @ BestBuy.ca.

If you get frustrated with the trackpad on your laptop like I do, then you would probably like to have a mouse instead. I have had a much more pleasant experience with my laptop since I acquired a mouse. The Dell Wireless Optical Mouse WM123 will be on sale during the Dell.ca Boxing Day Sale for just $9.99. That is a pretty drastic price drop from the regular price of $19.99. This mouse is known for excellent performance and battery life. No drivers are required, just plug in the USB anchor and go.

I’ve been saving my nickels and dimes all year to get a TV during these Boxing Day sales. Right now my TV takes up so much space in my living room, and I am pretty sure that one of the speakers has blown, but I will be strong until Boxing Day! Dell.ca has this Haier LLC 50 Inch Full HD LED Backlight TV on sale for $499.99 during their Boxing Day Sale, which is much better than the previous price of $599. If you want to spend $100 more, you can get the Haier 55″ Full HD LED Backlight TV on sale for $599. The Haier 50 Inch Full HD LED TV is $600 @ Amazon.ca.

Dell.ca also offers financial assistance on items that exceed $249. If you pay the item off in full within 6 months of the purchase, you will also benefit from no interest. Join Dell Advantage (free) and you will get 5% back in Dell rewards.

Shipping will be included with any purchase you make from Dell.ca. I even like that they have multiple payment methods. I don’t personally like to use my VISA when making online purchases, so it is great that they accept payment via PayPal as well.

For more great Boxing Day deals you can check out our forums.

Kanto YU3 Powered Bookshelf Speakers with Bluetooth @ Staples Was $340 | Now $160

Posted by on December 17, 2014 at 4:30 PM

Kanto YU3 Powered Bookshelf Speakers with Bluetooth @ Staples Was $340 | Now $160

Save 53% on these Kanto Bookshelf speakers with Bluetooth @ Staples. They were $339.99 but you can grab them with an exclusive coupon for $159.99 and free shipping.

Here is a great little pair of speakers to hook up in your living room, basement or backyard. The selection of Bluetooth speakers that sit on a shelf is limited and these seem like a great option in both sound quality and style. If you are looking to eliminate the wires this set may be a good choice for you.

These speakers also come in a variety of colours and with this sale you have a choice between a white matte or a grey matte colour.  The ad also suggests these speakers also hook up as a smaller pair of TV or computer speakers.

Here are a few features the speakers offer.

  • Bluetooth 4.0 technology Stream from any Bluetooth enabled devices
  • Inputs include: 2x Gold Plated Post Connectors, 1x Bluetooth Connector, 1x RCA connector, 1x 3.5mm stereo mini-jack, and 2x Toslink Optical connectors
  • 1 Sub-Woofer output
  • 2 USB charging outputs
  • 30 Watts RMS per channel (60 Watts Total)
  • Remote

I looked all over for reviews of these speakers in Canada. Though many places have these speakers, no one seems to want to talk about them. I went over the border and checked out US Amazon. Most of the reviewers seem happy with their purchase and gave a pretty good review. Most of the reviews for this brand overall were positive.  These speakers are even more expensive at the US branch of Amazon at $319.

One reviewer in particular seemed to fully evaluate the quality before giving a good review.

Kanto has produced the Jerry Rice of speakers, regardless of price. I have 3 pairs now. 2 YU3’s and 1 YUMI.  Lots of features listed in the ads. All accurate. What the ads can’t inform in the sound quality. They are amazing. Many reviewers caution they are not audiphiles. I am. $10k speakers, $15K processor, etc. These little guys are not a come down. I do not know how they did it. They sound like big expensive speakers, more volume without distortion in a small package for a minuscule price. Bluetooth sound is also, surprisingly, as good as analogue and digital.

If you try to buy these same speakers elsewhere, you’ll pay a ton more.

  • $270 @ Amazon- In black only
  • $270 @ NCIX
  • $299 @ Sears
  • $339 @ Shop.ca
  • $339 @ NewEgg – In green or yellow only

These speakers seem like a great little set for both the enthusiast and someone who just wants a better quality sound in their living room.  To get the extra $20 off promo code you’ll need to act before the December 20th expiry. If you miss the deadline, you can still get them for $180 before December 23rd if they don’t sell out.

Hipstreet Titan 2 7″ Google Tablet ONLY $50 Plus Free Shipping @ Walmart Canada

Posted by on December 16, 2014 at 8:23 AM

Hipstreet Titan 2 7 Google Tablet ONLY $50 Plus Free Shipping @ Walmart Canada

The Hipstreet Titan 2 7” Google Certified Tablet is on clearance today from $54 to $49.92 @ Walmart plus free shipping. If you order it today, you should still have time have it in time for the holidays. This one may go quick.

Generally any tablet or electronic with Hipstreet in the title is not going to be the most powerful device you have ever owned. If you are looking for an inexpensive tablet to use the web without many bells and whistles this might be the perfect deal for you. Here is a few of the important specs.

  • 7” Touch Screen
  • 8 GB but expandable to 32 GB if you purchase an extra Micro SD card (not included)
  • Runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • Up to 1.2 GHz processor
  • Built in speaker, front facing camera and rechargeable battery
  • Google Play Store option
  • 10GB of free online cloud storage included

It’s not a terribly powerful device but it is expandable with a micro SD. Plus this device is Google certified so you’ll have app, movie and music options from the Google Play store.  If you just want to check e-mail, use Facebook and play a few games this device will do the trick. You can play a few movies on the go also if you do not mind a small screen, though I would recommend buying a SD card if that is what you have in mind.

This is the perfect device to hand to your kid. It’s inexpensive, has some game options and the ability to play a few movies if you expand the memory. While I do not advocate tons of screen time for kids, everything in moderation. Yeah OK, my kid has been potty training playing on a tablet- sometimes bribery works. You may want to make sure you have a good case also to keep that screen intact.

If you were dabbling with the idea of an e-reader but didn’t want to spend much, this is a good option also. You will not have the e-ink like you would in a Kobo or Kindle (which start at $65) but the Kindle and Kobo apps are available on the Google play store. I know some people do not like to read books on devices but for myself I find it extremely handy to have my books close. Especially that library book I was dying to read, it’s due already? (Our library lets us check out e-books, does yours?) I am much more likely to pick up a book for a quick 5 minutes if I always have it with me on my device.

Reviews are mixed on this device. Some people hate it others love it with the caveat of “for an inexpensive tablet.” One user has had one for a year now and it is still going strong for her kid to use.

Bought this for my daughter last year and honestly for the price it is awesome. You can download so many apps from Google play and we have not had any issues with it working. I do have to say the battery takes forever to charge, but small price to pay for such a cheap tablet.

Here is the price breakdown around the web for the same device.

  • $70 @ Future Shop
  • $70 @ Best Buy
  • $80 @ Staples
  • $100 @ The Source- but also includes a case
  • $120-$150 @ Amazon- depending on if you buy it from an outside seller or from Amazon directly

For the money you are paying, I would give this tablet a chance. Do not expect this table to run your small business, but as an entertainment device for really basic use this tablet will do the trick.

Expiry:  Will expire soon!

PROSCAN 7″ Tablet (Case & Keyboard) Was $64 Now $48 & Free Shipping @ Walmart! (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 14, 2014 at 9:15 AM

PROSCAN 7 Tablet (Case & Keyboard) Was $64 Now $48 & Free Shipping @ Walmart! (EXPIRED)

If you’ve been on the lookout for a budget tablet that won’t break the bank, you could consider this clearance deal from Walmart.ca. The PROSCAN 7″ Android 4.1 Tablet with Case & Keyboard (PLT7-K) was previously priced at $64 and it’s now down to only $48 with free shipping.

As you can probably tell from the price point, the PROSCAN 7″ PLT7-K Android 4.1 Tablet is not going to be the most powerful and amazing device in the world. You DO pay for what you get in this type of thing, but if you really only need something basic, this is definitely one to consider.

As for the specification itself, here are a few of the important points:

  • 7” capacitive multi touch display with case and keyboard kit
  • 800 x 480 pixels resolution
  • Up to 1.2GHz processor
  • Android 4.1 Jellybean operating system
  • Camera & rechargeable battery built-in
  • 4GB NAND Flash and expandable up to 32GB via memory card

You can see that it’s not terribly powerful and doesn’t actually come with a lot of in-built memory to start with. But, it is expandable with a memory card, which you can pick up at a low cost these days.

Ideas for things you could use this Proscan tablet for:

  • For young kids to play basic games like Angry Birds / Candy Crush
  • For long car trips, entertaining the kids
  • Cheap multi-media device for using round the home
  • Using for basic social functions, such as emails, Facebook, etc

It’s really not comparable to an iPad Air or anything like that, but it’s just a basic tablet for some basic functions.

One thing you might want to note is that it’s not compatible with Google Play, so you cannot download any apps from there. The choice in apps might be a little limited, as this reviewer stated:

NOT Google Licensed for downloads… You cannot download any aps from Google Play… Your options are very limited.

Take that into account if you’re buying.

To be honest, this would be the type of thing I’d buy for my little 4 year old daughter, but I’d give her a strict time limit on usage of the games, etc. I don’t want her to get screen addiction too young!

Samsung Wi Fi 16.2MP Camera $79.99 @ Future Shop (Save $70) (EXPIRED)

As part of Future Shop’s 12 days of deals they are featuring a Samsung EC-WB35FZBPBCA Wi-Fi 16.2MP 12x Optical Zoom Digital Camera for just $79.99 with free shipping. You save $70 and score a good camera for a great price.

I expected Best Buy to price match Future Shop as they are sister stores. However, that is just not happening on this deal. Check out the price comparisons below.

  • $99.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $149.99 @ Henry’s Canada
  • $157.63 @ Amazon Canada (secondary seller)
  • $95.97 US @ Amazon.com

The price at Future Shop even beats the price of the US giant Amazon.com if we lived in the USA and could get it shipped free from them. This is the best deal for this camera that I have found on the net. The camera features:

  • 16.2-Megapixel CCD Sensor
  • 2.7-Inch Display
  • 12x Zoom
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity
  • 720p HD-quality MPEG video
  • Live Panorama mode

This camera really packs many features into its small body. I love the HD video feature. Though I do not record many videos, there are some times when on vacation that only a video would really capture the moment. I regret not using that feature more on my camera. The large display helps you get a sense of what your picture will look like printed out. I find a large display very important for taking good quality pictures the first time. The 16.2 MP and 12x zoom are going to be amazing and really will show you why having a camera in addition to your phone is worthwhile.

Amazon.com is a great place to look at reviews like this one:

Really like the camera, fits in your pocket and give excellent pictures. Used on trip to San Juan and loved it, I took my larger camera but found I was using the Samsung more because I could send pictures to my phone and text to friends. Really nice purchase.

That is another feature I would die to have on my DSLR – Wi-fi. It drives me insane that I cannot just send images once I take them. Instead, I have to pop out the SD card, load them onto my computer, and then upload them to an email or Facebook. This camera looks awesome.

TigerDirect Canada: Free Shipping on $25 TODAY (EXPIRED)

TigerDirect Canada: Free Shipping on $25 TODAY (EXPIRED)

Tiger Direct rarely ever has free shipping promotions (even with a minimum), so when they do it is big news! Receive free shipping on any order of $25 or more.

If you are technologically minded, then this post is for you (written by someone who merely dabbles). There are plenty of good items at Tiger Direct to pick up with this offer.

This HP V702W 128GB USB Flash Drive is one of the best sellers under $50. Priced at only $45.99 with free shipping, you are getting a huge amount of space in a portable drive. The flash drive has up to 190MB/s read speed and 130MB/s write speed. USB 3.0 will transfer your documents as fast as possible, but the drive also comes with USB 2.0 backward compatibility. This is very useful when synchronizing with older computers. Newegg Canada has the same drive for $49.99 + $0.99 shipping. The HP flash drive garners good reviews on both sides with positive words like these:

This is a terrific USB flash drive that provides lots of storage, USB3.0 connectivity. It is reliab. I have other HP flash drives (2 are more than 5yrs old). They are well made and just don’t fail.

Another deal you will seriously want to pick up is the Cougar Solution Black Steel Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case currently for $41.99 after a $10 mail-in-rebate rebate. So you pay $51.99 up front and get $10 back. The real gem in this deal is the free shipping. Newegg Canada has the unit for slightly cheaper at $49.99, but they are asking $22.99 for shipping costs. Ouch! Make sure to download your rebate forms (they will show in your cart). The rebate is only valid until the 14th.

You can also load up your cart with lower priced items to hit the $25 minimum. This Samsung Galaxy S4 Flip Cover Folio Case was originally priced at $52.79 (take that with a grain of salt), but is on sale for just $11.97. There are five different colours to choose from so you could buy one or buy several to change out when the mood strikes.

Overall, I think this is an excellent deal and I am pretty excited about it. What are you going to buy at Tiger Direct, Moosers?

Microsoft 12 Days of Deals: Jawbone Mini Jambox $69- (Save $61) (Expired)

Microsoft 12 Days of Deals: Jawbone Mini Jambox $69 (Save $61) (Expired)

Microsoft’s 12 Days of Deals are on right now and they are throwing out one big deal per day. Today’s deal is the Jawbone Mini Jambox for just $69 with free shipping, originally $129.99.

Here are the price comparisons from other retailers that I found:

  • $140 @ Chapters Indigo Canada
  • $139.99 @ The Source Canada
  • $129.99 @ Amazon Canada

While this speaker is not available at all of the usual electronic retailers, wherever it is available the price is substantially higher. I am talking the retail price at Microsoft and above that!

There are several colour options for you to choose from. Purchase the purple snowflake, graphite hex, or the blue diamond. Three other colours are already out of stock so you know this deal is selling quickly.

Now, this device is small enough to fit in your pocket and pretty light too. However, it packs incredible sound and has a decent length battery for listening time. The mini Jambox also works with any device with a headphone jack or audio line out if you do not have a Bluetooth enabled phone or MP3 player. The Bluetooth reception is good for about 10 meters or 33 feet. Are you curious about the sound quality? Here is what Microsoft has to say:

MINI JAMBOX has two front-facing proprietary drivers to direct sound, two active drivers (stereo pair), and a passive bass radiator producing amazingly clear, high-quality sound for its compact, portable size.

That sounds pretty impressive. I would love to get my hands on the purple snowflake design as it looks beautiful and it could be my truly portable external speaker. Sure, my Sony SRS-X5 is incredible, but it is not something I would stick in my purse and take to the beach or the cabin. The speaker is far too heavy and I would be concerned about it getting damage. The Mini Jambox is a portable little monster you will be glad to have in your hands.

There are three sizes of Jamboxes – with the mini being the smallest. In the future, you could always get one of the bigger models to match your smaller speaker.

Amazon Canada: Sennheiser HD 558 Headphones Were $280 | Now $115 (EXPIRED)

Amazon Canada: Sennheiser HD 558 Headphones Were $280 | Now $115 (EXPIRED)

I feel like there has been an overload of Sennheiser deals lately, but they are super popular and sell out quickly. Today isn’t going to be any different and Amazon has a lightning deal on the Sennheiser HD 558 headphones, with an original price of $279.95 and discounted down to $114.96. That’s a saving of $165!

Amazon sometimes has a habit of inflating their original prices, so I wanted to make sure this was the hottest deal out there. Here’s what I found for you: NCIX sells these exact headphones for $279.99; Canada Computers sells them for $289; and Future Shop even has them on sale for $100 off with a price of $179. Therefore, Amazon’s price is by far the lowest out there. I’m considering getting myself a pair of these headphones because this deal is so hot.

I’m not well versed on the properties of headphones, so it is best you read the description yourself to ensure these are what you really want. I can easily cut and paste a few reviewer comments, which to me tells you the most about the product.

The Sennheiser HD558 headphones are superb. They are very light and can be worn for an extended time very comfortably. The foam ear cushions are better than leather or vinyl cushions as they cause no heating up or sweating as the leather/vinyl cushions do.
Sound quality is excellent with clear mids and highs and very good base with no over emphasis as some other headphones have.

Most of the reviews are positive, with a negative review thrown in here and there, but the one I read referred to the price and what you get, and you won’t have that trouble with this deal, since the price is fantastic.

These headphones will also ship to your door for free as they are over the $25 minimum for free shipping. Move fast on these!
