Amazon Canada: Over 70% Off Earth Series DVD & Blu-Rays (EXPIRED)

Amazon Canada: Over 70% Off Earth Series DVD & Blu Rays (EXPIRED)

Happy Earth Day! To celebrate, Amazon has some fantastic deals on earth-type documentaries and shows, with some of them being over 70% off.

While I’ve only watched a few minutes of some of the Planet Earth series, it has really been on my to-do list to sit down as a family and watch these very important shows. My kids (and I) need to learn about our beautiful earth, so we try to take care of it. I know they would love to see a show such as this, as they love animals and love learning about our world.

The best deal I found during this sale is Planet Earth: The Complete Series (Special Edition) on Blu-ray. It was $99.90 and is now $26.49. With $256 ratings, all of those reviewers can’t be wrong giving it almost five stars. The cheapest I’ve seen it selling elsewhere is $85, which makes this a very kick-butt deal.

The series Life (UK version) looks fascinating as well. Again, this one has a 4.5 star rating. Regularly $74.98 for the DVD version, it is on sale for $29.49. The Blu-ray was $87.48 and is now $24.49. Interesting enough that the blu-ray is cheaper at Amazon, but Walmart sells the DVD for about $70 and the blu-ray version for $94. Again, another priceless deal.

If you like National Geographic, you’ll want to watch The Nature Collection on DVD. This one is $50 off, with a regular price of $69.95 and is on sale for $19.99. Walmart sells this collection for $60, although it is out of stock.

There is a really great selection of videos on DVD and Blu-ray to choose from besides the ones I’ve mentioned. Amazon offers free shipping on orders that are $25+ so you’ll want to ensure your cart is past that total so you don’t pay extra shipping fees. I know I’m going to stock up on a few for those rainy days this summer where we are stuck inside the house or our trailer. At least if we can’t get outside to see nature, we can watch it on our television.

Pizza Pizza: Recycle Electronics & Receive Free Pizza Slice

Pizza Pizza: Recycle Electronics & Receive Free Pizza Slice

Who wants a slice of free pizza? Just take your used, abused, and no longer relevant to your daily life electronics to your local Pizza Pizza. Recycle them at Pizza Pizza to receive a free slice of pepperoni or cheese pizza!

The Slices for Devices campaign is across 400 or so Pizza Pizza locations in Canada. There is a limit of four devices per person, which equals four free slices of pizza. While this April recycling program no longer includes ink cartridges, you can recycle the following types of electronics:

  • Mobile and smart phones
  • Digital cameras
  • iPods and MP3 players
  • Hand held gaming consoles

Now, if you have a company looking to recycle bigger electronics, the program has extended. Companies can donate devices in exchange for Club 11-11 gift cards towards your next pizza party. Whether you are a company or an individual, either way you get free pizza. Pizza Pizza is accepting the following devices from companies:

  • LCD displays (Computer/ TVs)
  • Laptops
  • CPU Towers
  • Desktop computers
  • Speakers

As an individual, you may be able to recycle some of these items as well.

April is the perfect month for recycling your electronics as Earth Day falls within April and the month is generally considered to be Earth Month. All devices collected will be recycled or refurbished. The profits from refurbished devices are donated to the Children’s Miracle Network. Frankly, it is a win-win situation all around. The Earth receives less toxic devices dumped in her ground, you get free pizza, and the Children’s Miracle Network receives much-needed funds.

Unfortunately, there are no Pizza Pizza locations on Vancouver Island or else I would be hopping over there to donate some old electronics lying around. I am curious where one can donate electronics that do not fall within Pizza Pizza’s accepted list. I have a dead (and antiquated) alarm clock that is just sitting around taking up space. I was going to give it away until I figured out it did not work anymore. I would never dump something like that in a landfill – so I need to do my homework.

This promotion from Pizza Pizza is on throughout the month of April. Make sure to drop by for your free pizza and safe disposal of electronics.

Starbucks Canada: Bring in Your Own Reusable Mug, Get a Free Tea or Coffee for Earth Day

Starbucks Canada: Bring in Your Own Reusable Mug, Get a Free Tea or Coffee for Earth Day

Happy Earth Day from Starbucks Canada! Visit a participating location today and get a free tea or coffee when you use your own reusable mug.

It’s Earth Day today. I’ll probably be commemorating the day doing Earthy crafts with my young son, or maybe digging out our garden plot if it doesn’t rain (c’mon Earth, don’t rain, I want to plant my garden on your special day!). But these activities require energy, and I could use a little more of it. Luckily for me, there’s a Starbucks at the end of my street and they’re offering free coffee for Earth Day.

To get your free coffee (or tea) all you have to do is bring your own reusable mug or tumbler into a Starbucks location. This freebie is only valid on Starbucks’ brewed coffees and teas, so you won’t be able to get anything fancy with caramel sauce or whipped cream or whatever else you like to throw into your beverage, just good old-fashioned basic coffee or tea. Which works out well for me, as that’s all I ever get from Starbucks.

The promotion mentions that this free offer is only available at “participating locations,” so hopefully it’s valid at mine. They’ve posted it to the Starbucks Facebook and Twitter accounts so it should be pretty widespread, but you can always call ahead to check if you don’t want to be disappointed. You can find contact information for Starbucks Canada locations with the store locator on their website.

You can take advantage of this offer all day today for Earth Day (April 22).
