Amazon Canada: American Horror Story Season 1 Only $18

Amazon Canada: American Horror Story Season 1 Only $18

Amazon has some spooky deals going on for Halloween and selling some of their scarier titles on DVD and Blu-Ray at a significant reduction. One that I found that I needed to tell you about is the first season of American Horror Story. It is now only $17.99, with a regular price of $40.08.

If you haven’t heard of American Horror Story, you are in for a treat. I happened to hear about it on a site that listed all the shows you need to binge watch, so I did just that and binge watched the first season. What an incredible series! I have only recently found out that each season is a different story, so I’m sad to say goodbye to the characters I came to love in the first season. This means that each season is sort of like a little continuing movie that lasts a number of hours.

Basically, the first season is about a family who moves into a home that has been haunted by ghosts. You’ll question who is and isn’t a ghost all the way through the series, but you’ll definitely be scared and thrilled while watching this show. Jessica Lange plays an absolutely fantastic portrayal of a jilted and a bit psychotic next door neighbour, but you’ll still love her anyway.

I priced compared season one and found it for $34.99 at Best Buy and $39.97 at Walmart so you are essentially getting it for half the price.

There are a few other shows and movies available in the horror genre on Amazon for great deals like the second season of American Horror Story, which I need to see, and is now $23.99, regularly $49.98. The Omen Collection looks way too scary, but the price is not at only $17.49, with a regular price of $54.98.

Shipping is free when you spend over $25, so I wouldn’t hesitate to get both seasons one and two, because I know you’ll love it and want to pop in the next season as soon as the first ends.

Amazon Canada: The Office: The Complete Series On DVD | Was $230 Now $90

Posted by on October 21, 2014 at 10:17 AM

Amazon Canada: The Office: The Complete Series On DVD | Was $230 Now $90

That’s what she said. Today’s deal at Amazon is for the complete series of The Office on DVD – normally selling for $229.99, you can now purchase this set for $89.99. You’ll also get free shipping with your order! The Office: The Complete Series on DVD is currently on sale for $139.99 at Best Buy and Future Shop.

Oh, how I loved The Office – its dry humour that gave us a glimpse into a, often-mismanaged Scranton, Pennsylvania paper company known as Dunder Mifflin was a ground-breaking show for its time. It intrigued me when I first watched it back in the mid-2000s, since I didn’t hear the obligatory laugh-track in between every joke on the show.

Remember when TV shows had to remind us when we were supposed to laugh? After watching The Office, it kind of ruined many shows with laugh-tracks for me (at least the newer ones – I will always love Seinfeld and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air).

Either way, I really enjoyed watching The Office. It was a thoroughly enjoyable series with memorable characters such as Dwight, Andy, and of course, Michael Scott (played by Steve Carrell). One of my favourite lines in the series is when Michael Scott (the manager of the Dunder Mifflin office in Scranton, PA) is trying to motivate his employees, and has the following inspirational line written down on chart paper: You miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take. -Wayne Gretzky -Michael Scott.

The last few seasons aren’t as creative or hilarious as the earlier seasons, but they’re still fun to watch. Mindy Kaling of The Mindy Project also rose to prominence during her time on The Office. I’ve included a brief review of The Office: The Complete Series on DVD from a satisfied Amazon customer below:

Ordered for myself and my wife. It’s our favourite show. Hilarious, smart, and just perfect. Steve Carell is so funny.
The display is very nice and simple. Amazing!

Get this great DVD set before it’s sold out! Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: Leprechaun Pot Of Gore Collection DVD Set | Was $47 Now $13

Looking to get into the right mood for Halloween? Well, today’s deal at Amazon just might be the spooky solution that you’re looking for! Remember the Leprechaun movies? Where the magical little person from Willow (Warwick Davis) played a scary Leprechaun? You can now purchase the Leprechaun: Pot Of Gore Collection DVD Set, which contains 6 Leprechaun movies, for just $12.49 (plus $1.99 shipping). This set normally retails for $46.99, so you’re saving 73% on the regular price!

The Leprechaun: Pot Of Gore Collection DVD Set contains all 6 movies in this popular horror series. That’s a lot of entertainment for a small price! This deal may not be around for very long, so click on the link above and check out this deal before it’s gone!

This would be a very entertaining DVD set to have, especially if you’re a horror fan, or want to entertain your friends before Halloween. I remember first hearing about this movie in the early nineties, and while they were pretty silly (I mean, come on – one of the later movie titles is Leprechaun 4: In Space), you can’t go wrong with some cheesy horror flicks! I’d love to check out some of these with my girlfriend, especially after having a few glasses of wine! That’s a fine night of entertainment right there.

The Leprechaun: Pot Of Gore Collection DVD Set typically costs $37.59 on Shop.ca, and it’s currently $29.99 at Future Shop. I’ve included a brief review of this Leprechaun: Pot Of Gore Collection DVD Set from a satisfied Amazon customer below:

I have been waiting for this to be at a good price and finally, after a while of waiting it paid off. I am very happy to be the owner to them now – all 6 movies! Amazing, thank you Amazon Canada: Leprechaun Pot Of Gore Collection DVD Set | Was $47 Now $13

I hope you’re all enjoying the rest of your Sunday, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: Get House: The Complete Series On DVD | Was $230 Now $80 (EXPIRED)

Amazon Canada: Get House: The Complete Series On DVD | Was $230 Now $80 (EXPIRED)

Good afternoon, my fellow Bargainmoosers! Today’s deal on Amazon allows you to get House: The Complete Series on DVD for $79.99 (was $229.99). You’ll also qualify for free shipping! This critically acclaimed series stars Hugh Laurie, and if you’ve never seen it before, you should at least check out an episode of it online before you decide to get this DVD box set. Personally, I loved the series – it was must-see-TV at its finest.

This DVD set is huge. It comes with all 8 seasons of House, which should definitely keep you entertained for quite a while! Whether you love or hate the brooding and sarcastic character of Dr. Gregory House, it’s a show that’s addicting to watch (especially when you have every season on DVD).

I first watched House in the late 2000′s (my mother was a big fan of the show), and from there I was hooked. I’d sit down with my mom every week and watch the latest misadventures of Dr. House, and I can honestly say that it was a lot of fun. It was also a nice break from my hectic work schedule at the time! I was freelancing and spending countless hours in my office, so watching House was a great way to break that monotony.

House: The Complete Series on DVD currently rings in at $183.99 at Future Shop, and it’s $158 at WalMart. Listed below is a brief review of this box set from a satisfied Amazon customer:

Birthday gift for my wife. They are great. Best way to view these are in chronological order. You pick up on some sub theme that aren’t necessarily apparent in the once a week viewing. My wife and I will sit and listen to 2 or 3 episodes in a row during evening tea and a game of Scrabble.

If you’re looking for a new TV series to check out, then you should consider getting House: The Complete Series on DVD. Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: How I Met Your Mother: The Complete Series On DVD Now 50% Off | Was $250 Now $125 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on October 1, 2014 at 9:00 AM

Amazon Canada: How I Met Your Mother: The Complete Series On DVD Now 50% Off | Was $250 Now $125 (EXPIRED)

Have you met Ted? For one day only, Amazon Canada is having a sale on How I Met Your Mother: The Complete Series on DVD. Normally retailing for $249.98, you can now get this set for $124.99. You’ll also get free shipping with your order! It currently retails for $186.99 at Future Shop and Best Buy.

How I Met Your Mother: The Whole Story comes with all 9 seasons of this legendary show. With memorable characters like Barney Stinson, Robin Scherbatski, and Ted Mosby, this is a fun television series that’s easy to get into.

I started watching How I Met Your Mother back in 2011 – I was a little late to the party, since the show started airing in 2005, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of this series one bit. In fact, it was great to be able to watch multiple episodes within one viewing session rather than waiting for a new episode each week. That’s probably one of the more convenient features of having a complete TV series on DVD – you get to have the convenience of watching every single episode whenever you want to!

Many popular phrases caught fire on this show, like challenge accepted! I know I’ve personally suited up for ridiculous occasions, like a random night at Boston Pizza with my friends. Hey, we looked much more sharper than most of the clientèle at BP that night!

I’ve included a brief review from a satisfied Amazon customer below:

This is a great box set with a great price. I will most definitely be buying this legen- wait for it, and I hope you’re not lactose-intolerant because the second half of that word is -dary set.

Whether you’re new to this series or if you want to relive some classic episodes again, this would be a great purchase. I hope you’re all enjoying the first day of October, Bargainmoosers!

Stargate SG1, Atlantis, Universe DVDs: $7.99 Per Season @ Best Buy Canada

Posted by on August 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Stargate SG1, Atlantis, Universe DVDs: $7.99 Per Season @ Best Buy Canada

If there are any Moosers who are fans of the Stargate universe, then check out this deal on various Stargate DVDs on Best Buy Canada. You can pick up many of the individual seasons for only $7.99 each!

You can choose from Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, or Stargate Universe. The DVDs of each season are all $7.99 each… the blu-rays are more expensive coming in at $14.99, with some not being available online.

Now, the protestors amongst you would question as to why you don’t just watch these online, if you have the likes of Netflix or other streaming services. But if you’re a fan, sometimes you just want to own a physical copy of certain shows. Also, not all the shows might be available on the service you rent… and you won’t necessarily be paying for that subscription for ever, either. Having hard copies of the DVDs is sometimes a nice choice to make.

One of the first ever VIDEOS I purchase was the original Stargate Movie. Remember the one? It was the 1994 release starring James Spader and Kurt Russell. I LOVED that movie. That led me to watch the TV series, which I also fell in love with. I have to say that Stargate SG-1 was probably one of my all-time favourite shows. I actually watched all of them through Netflix mailing DVDs to your home, to watch and return… in the old days!

I’ve watched all five seasons of Stargate Atlantis too. I enjoyed it, but it definitely was not as memorable as Stargate SG1. And as for Stargate Universe – I have not watched it! And guess what Netflix says:

Stargate Universe is unavailable to stream

Ha ha! This would be an ideal time for me to buy the DVDs and catch up on it.

What about shipping?

If you spend $25 or more @ Best Buy Canada, you will get free shipping to your home. If you’re buying a few seasons of the above show, then you’re good for free shipping.

Amazon Canada: 75% Off Emmy-Nominated Shows

Amazon Canada: 75% Off Emmy Nominated Shows

With summer soon coming to a close, you may wonder what you’ll be watching in the fall. I’m not a traditional TV watcher. I like to find shows that are known to be good and then watch a whole season in a week. If you are like me, you might want to check out this sale from Amazon, offering up to 73% off Emmy-nominated shows.

Nurse Jackie is a show I have watched and loved. It is about a drug-addicted nurse who manages to mostly keep it together despite challenge after challenge. It sounds dark, but it is actually quite funny. All of the seasons are represented in this sale starting from season 1 for $9.97 (regularly $26.99) up to season 5, which is $9.49 (was $29.97). It looks like a new season will be starting in 2015. I need to get caught up!

Mad Men is a show that I’ve heard about repeatedly, but have yet to watch. I can start with season 1 during this Amazon sale for only $9.88, with a regular price of $26.99. For those who may have already watched the show, you might want to get season 6 for your collection, and it is now only $12.49, was $46.99. What a steal!

Have you delved into the world of Girls yet? This is a phenomenal show that will have you laughing, crying and shouting at the TV. While I love Hannah, who is played by the incredibly talented Lena Dunham, I cannot stand two of the other main characters. I love Shoshanna and her quirky ways, but the other two are just way too spoiled for my liking on my television. Either way, it makes a great mix to watch on a Saturday night with all your girlfriends, especially because of some of the eye candy in the way of men. This show is a sort of Sex and the City of this decade. Season one will only cost you $18.49, with a regular price of $49.98.

As always, shipping will be free on a $25 order, so you might want to stock up on a few shows or a few seasons and save on that annoying fee.

Amazon Canada: 73% Off Alien – Predator: Total Destruction DVD Collection – Now $21.50 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on August 3, 2014 at 8:30 PM

Amazon Canada: 73% Off Alien Predator: Total Destruction DVD Collection Now $21.50 (EXPIRED)

They mostly come out at night, mostly… good deals that is, not aliens! Amazon has discounted the Alien – Predator Total Destruction Collection down to just $21.49. It was originally priced at $79.98, so that puts it at a 73% discount!

Even though it was released in 2008, this collection is definitely a must-have for any of you sci-fi and action movie lovers, especially since it includes the following 8 discs:

  • Alien
  • Aliens (long version)
  • Alien 3
  • Alien Resurrection
  • Predator
  • Predator II
  • Alien vs. Predator (unrated)
  • Alien vs. Predator 2: Requiem (unrated)

It also features a number of happy reviews like this one:

This collection is a great deal and is completely worth it, all 8 discs are instant classics and any collector who loves older and newer movies will love it. It was very addictive and I couldn’t stop watching it. The discs were in great condition and the definition was great. This franchise was one of the greatest ever written and this collection really captured its amazing story-line. I 100% recommend this pack to any classic movie lover.

This is also a great deal for all of you French-speaking Canadian as the collection is bilingual. In fact, did you know that the movie Prometheus, which came out in 2012, is actually a prequel to the Alien franchise? I actually had no idea but discovered this little fact by looking up the movies. Prometheus is currently on sale as well. You can DVD and Blu-Ray versions for as low as $7. Plus, if you’re willing to shell out a little more, the Prometheus to Alien: The Evolution collection is on sale for $59.99 (reg. $215.69).

The only hitch is that you will be missing just a couple of dollars to have this collection shipped for free as Amazon only ships orders over $25 for free, so be sure to check out the deals section for more products to save on. In fact, there are a number of DVDs for $6.99 or less like Inception for just $3.94 (reg. $18.70). For those of you with kids, I suggest you sort those movies by cheapest first and then check out the first couple of pages as there are a number of kids’ movies for less than $5. For example, both Barbie: The Princess and the Pauper and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are $3.94 (reg. $9.99).

Amazon Canada: Documentaries Over 50% Off

Amazon Canada: Documentaries Over 50% Off

If you need something interesting, education and entertaining to watch this summer, why not pop in a documentary? Amazon has their documentaries on sale for over 50% off, so now is the time to get the one you’ve been wanting to watch.

I love watching documentaries because it is like I am being productive while watching television. I can also watch them with my kids, which for certain ones, they’ll like to, so it is something for the whole family.

The best deal of the bunch is on the documentary “Life”, which is basically how we (as living beings) procreate, fend off enemies, nourish ourselves, are born and die. I would find this very interesting and I know my older sons would too. The reviews are fantastic and I can’t imagine how beautiful the images will be. This one sells for a regular price of $87.48, but is on sale for $31.99. I found it at Best Buy for $69.99, which means the Amazon version is almost $40 cheaper!

Although we’ve blogged Planet Earth before, it is totally worth mentioning again, as this is a really hot price. It has a regular price of $99.90, but is on sale for $34.99 with blu-ray discs. Best Buy has this same set on for $79.99.

Not all of the documentaries are on wildlife, as there is also a couple of musical ones, including this One Direction: This is Us documentary. I personally wouldn’t watch this, but if I had a One Direction fan in the house, you know that $10 would be well-spent (regular price $35.99).

Amazon offers free shipping on orders over $25, so if your disc is such a good price like the One Direction one, you might have to get one for a friend, or get another so you don’t have to worry about shipping costs adding to your bill.

Amazon Canada: Wolf Of Wall Street Only $10

Amazon Canada: Wolf Of Wall Street Only $10

Amazon has a fantastic deal on a fantastic movie. Get The Wolf of Wall Street (blu-ray, DVD, digital copy) for only $9.99, with a regular price of $39.99.

I was intrigued to watch The Wolf of Wall Street after seeing the buzz about it around Oscar time. Once I watched it, I was actually quite shocked because I had no idea about plot or anything like that, just that Leo and Jonah starred in it. I have to tell you, this movie is not for the faint of heart. There is A LOT of sex in it. I personally don’t mind seeing sex in movies, but truly, it is every few minutes. The movie is definitely entertaining and makes you want to keep watching to see what will come next.

Don’t just take my word for it, see what this reviewer who gave it five stars had to say:

I have to admit this is a movie that draws you in and takes you on a roller coaster ride. For sheer absurdity and entertainment and based on a true story this is hard to beat.

There were a few reviewers who gave it one star for varying reasons, one which would be no real story. I’d have to argue against that point, considering it is based on true events. Another said it made them sad that people like this actually existed, which could be true, but that does make good movies. One reviewer made this very obvious statement:

The use of obscene words, the extent and quantity in this film, is totally abhorrent to our family. For most people this would not be a film for the family to view.

Yes, do not watch this with your granny or your children.

As for pricing, this is definitely the best deal out there as Future Shop sells it for $21.99, Walmart sells it for $19.96 and Cineplex sells it for $19.96.

You’ll have to spend another $15 to get free shipping.

Amazon Canada: Six Feet Under Only $63

Posted by on June 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Amazon Canada: Six Feet Under Only $63

Amazon Canada has a hot deal on the complete series of Six Feet Under. With a regular price of $174.99, it is now $62.99. If you haven’t seen this series, you are definitely missing out as it is one my most favourite television shows.

Six Feet Under stars Michael C. Hall before he was the iconic Dexter. The show is about a family who runs a funeral home and the complexities that go along with living surrounded by death each day. I always loved the way they’d start the show with some very ironic death that would already have you on the edge of your seat. The entire show will haunt your dreams (in good and bad ways), but it is so dramatic and well done that you probably will have to order food in for a week, as you won’t want to leave your chair to stop watching every episode in the complete series.

As I always say, don’t just take my word for it, check out the reviews. There are 39 reviews with a total of 4.6 stars out of 5. This is because 31 of the reviewers gave it five stars. That is a pretty great rating. One reviewer called it “the epic masterpiece of modern time (and television)”. Another said it was the “best thing I’ve ever seen on television”.

Since this show has come out, there have been some new shows I love just as much like Shameless, Dexter and Breaking Bad. But at the time it was released, nothing could compare to getting my Six Feet Under fix. I would classify it at the same league as Sopranos.

Since you spending over $25, Amazon will ship this series to you absolutely free. It doesn’t look like many stores sell the complete series, so I couldn’t price compare, but the cheapest that I saw it was at Costco, where it was about $10 more.

Amazon Canada: Up To 55% Off Fitness DVDs

Posted by on May 25, 2014 at 10:30 AM

Amazon Canada: Up To 55% Off Fitness DVDs

You don’t need a personal trainer or fancy gym membership to get in shape. Jillian Michaels (and others) can help you do it right in your living room. Shop fitness DVDs at Amazon for up to 55% off.

I first started working out in my living room with Richard Simmons sweatin’ to the oldies. Seriously. Me and my mom used to do it together and I actually got into better shape. From there I moved on to different videos like Abs of Steel, Buns of Steel and kickboxing. I just cancelled my gym membership because I am moving, and I don’t think I’m going to sign up for another one right away. In the meantime, I could get one of these DVDs for such a low price and I could do it at home while the kids are playing (or they could do it with me!).

I see a number of DVDs I’d like to pick up including:

There are also a number of videos for prenatal and postnatal workouts. I loved doing postnatal workouts on video because I wasn’t quite ready to go back to the gym, and I wasn’t always ready to leave my baby with the daycare strangers yet either. I could lay him beside me while I did a workout tailored for my condition.

Shipping is free on an order over $25.

Amazon Canada: Sex And The City Complete Collection Only $68

Amazon Canada: Sex And The City Complete Collection Only $68

Today only, Amazon has the complete collection of Sex and the City for only $67.99, with a regular price of $174.99.

I have the complete collection of Sex and the City, except that I bought it season by season as it was release and paid A LOT of money for it. I’m sure I spent over $500 for all six seasons, including the fact that season six came as two parts. I’ve watched this set a number of times, so I have made it well worth it. As I am packing my house I started packing my DVDs and part of me wished I could have a sick day so I could watch a full season back-to-back in bed. I got my wish and had a horrible virus, but I did get to watch the entire season three in my bed without interruptions once I was on this side of the living spectrum.

If you’ve never seen Sex and the City, you might be living a deprived life. There has not been a show like this since. The antics of these four New York women make you laugh, cry and guffaw. The men of the show have always gone on to great acting careers too, with the likes of cameos by Vince Vaughan and so many more. I really can’t say enough about the show, just that it really is a must-watch for women and men.

Amazon will ship this item for free as it is over $25.

Amazon Canada: Movies & TV Shows for $5 or Less

Amazon Canada has a pretty spectacular deal right now on some of their movies and TV shows DVDs.  You will be able to find a ton of them all for under just $5!

You will find a great mixture of older movies and newer movies and all of them are $5 or less.  There is also a great mixture of movies and TV shows for the young and young at heart.

If you are looking for a great romantic comedy, check out Friends with Benefits that was $14.99 and is now just $5. It has eye candy for the women with Justin Timberlake and for the men with Mila Kunis which makes it a great date night movie.

If you are looking for more of a family movie, I suggest The Princess Bride 20th Anniversary Edition that was $15.58 and is now just $5.  It has humour that is perfect for both young and old making it a great family night movie to watch. It was actually one of my favourite movies growing up and it is one of those movies that I can watch over and over again.

As for some of the TV shows, they are mainly older shows or kids shows.  One of my kids favourite shows called Thomas and Friends: Rescue on the Rails is included and at just $5 now (it was $9.99) it is sure to be a hit with the toddlers. At 50% off the regular price, it is very affordable now!

You will notice that there are more movies than TV shows but with a selection of a few hundred deals to choose from, there is something for everyone.

You will get free shipping when your order is $25 or more.

Amazon Canada: Frozen DVD Only $13

Amazon Canada: Frozen DVD Only $13

Amazon has a terrific deal on Disney’s Frozen on DVD. This amazing movie is only $13, was $35.99. I know that it has never been this low and was just recently released, so if you haven’t picked this one up yet, you need to now. Even if you’ve already picked it up, this would be a good time to get your second copy.

Frozen has really been clogging my Facebook feeds for a while. The hype has not died down from either the kids or the adults and I even think I’ve heard Let It Go while walking down the aisles of the grocery store. My kids totally love this movie and yesterday they watched it again for the billionth time and my youngest son was jumping up and down yelling “Frozen! Frozen!”.

This movie has captivated people so much, it has won awards and adults are giddy about how great it is. I did watch it and liked it, although MegaMind will always be my favourite kids movie. This one really is feel-good though.

If the movie isn’t the deal for you, but you love Frozen, did you know Amazon has a Frozen store? They do! I found a number of sales in there on books, toys and dolls. I’d love my own Olaf doll.

Shipping is free when you spend $25, so you might as well pop into the Frozen store and pick up one more thing to save the fees. Also, I wouldn’t wait, Amazon is notorious for deals selling out mega-quick.
