    Zip.ca: 3 Months DVD Rentals For $15!

Posted by Anna on December 9, 2010 at 6:00 AM

    Zip.ca: 3 Months DVD Rentals For $15!

There’s a deal on Groupon Ottawa that is really good – you can get 3 months of unlimited DVD rentals  from Zip.ca for only $15!

The deal is Canada wide, it doesn’t only apply if you live in Ottawa. The DVD rentals are sent to your home, and you can have 3 discs out at a time. Normally you’d pay $50 for the same service – 1 month free, then 2 months at $25 each, so $15 for 3 months is really sweet.

    Terms:

Expires Jun 10, 2011. Limit 1 per person, may buy additional as gifts. New members only. Valid credit card information required. Tax included. Not valid with other offers.

So if you’ve signed up to Zip.ca before, you won’t be able to take advantage of this offer. But if there is someone else in your household who could sign up, perhaps a partner or a housemate, then you might be able to make use of it.

Blockbuster: Favourites Monthly Movie Pass for $9.99

Posted by Avigayil on October 5, 2010 at 3:00 PM

Blockbuster: Favourites Monthly Movie Pass for $9.99

I dont know much about this deal but it seems like a decent price if you rent several movies a month. Blockbuster is ovvering a Favourites Movies Pass for only $9.99 a month plus tax. Thanks to Mooser Daniel for sending us this deal!

    The Favourites Movie Pass offers:

    • No due dates
    • No late fees
    • Blu rays included (currently)
    • No long term commitment

I’ve never actually rented a DVD before (I know that sounds weird but I am not really a movie person… if I want to see a movie I will either see it in theatres or buy the DVD) so I’m not sure how it works but I am sure your local Blockbuster can fill you in.

You can check out the promotions link here to see it and other details.

    Fine print (for further details):

*The BLOCKBUSTER Favourites® Movie Pass (“Pass”) is good for unlimited Favourites movie rentals, including for a limited time Blu-ray format, for 30 days, one Favourites movie rental out at a time. Any day(s) skipped cannot be later redeemed and shall be forfeited. Pass may be used only on one membership account and only at the participating BLOCKBUSTER store where it was purchased. Pass rentals must be returned before the Pass expires or charges applicable to non-Pass rentals will begin accruing. Pass rentals do not count towards BLOCKBUSTER Rewards® benefits. Customer responsible for applicable taxes. Not valid in combination with any other offers or discounts. Limit one Pass per membership account at any one time. Membership rules apply. See store employee for complete terms and conditions.

    Netflix Is Coming To Canada

    Netflix Is Coming To Canada

Heads up Bargainmoosers! Netflix, the famous DVD rental service, will be coming to Canada in the fall!

You can check the above website, or even sign up to be notified by email when the service is due to start.

They will be offering an Internet subscription service that gives you movies and TV to your computer, or to your TV, for a monthly fee.

In my opinion, this is GREAT news for canucks. To date, there really hasn’t been a decent competitor to Zip.ca, so I am hoping that the 2 companies really compete against each other by offering excellent deals for the customers. I’ll keep you informed and I’ll be sure to let you know if there are any brilliant deals.

Rogers Video Online $1.99 DVD Coupon Code

For a limited time, you can rent select pre-viewed DVDs for only $1.99 each.

Until 8th February 2010, you can get pre-viewed DVDs for only $1.99, or pre-viewed Blu-Rays for $9.99. Titles include Push, Watchmen, Fast & Furious, and Knowing.

I’m one of the few people in the world who have not seen any of these. I did read the graphic novel version of Watchmen a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Was the movie as good as the book?

2 Free Movie Rentals @ QuickFlick Kiosks (Western Canada)

Posted by Anna on October 18, 2009 at 7:00 PM

If you have seen a Quickflick DVD rental machine at a store near you, you should take advantage of this offer – signing up on their website entitles you to 2 free movie rentals!

The website says that the Quickflick kiosks are available at select branches of:

    • 7 Eleven
    • Rexall
    • Mohawk
    • Husky
    • Husky Market
    • One other store logo which I don’t recognise!

If you haven’t heard of this service, they are DVD rental kiosks which are available in the above stores, for handiness.

I think this deal might only apply in western Canada (not 100% sure where all the kiosks are) but there is a store locator on the website if you want to enter your postal code to check before signing up.

Once you complete the email verification, you have to enter a few details on their website, including the last 4 digits of your credit card number. This must be how they know to allocate the 2 free movies when you go to one of their kiosks. When you have done this, they email you 2 free rental coupon codes which you will need when you go in-store.

Zip.ca Promotion Code: 1 Month’s Free Trial Of DVD Rentals!

Posted by Anna on October 11, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Zip.ca Promotion Code: 1 Months Free Trial Of DVD Rentals!

Spotted another promotion code which gets you a free month’s trial of DVD rentals from Zip.ca!

Click here to use the Zip.ca promotion code online

    • Promotion Code: TryZip
    • Expiry: Unknown

I don’t know when this one expires, so use it while you can. Normally, you only get a 2 week free trial, but this coupon code extends that up to one month instead. Nice!

It annoys me that when you use these promotion codes on Zip.ca, at no stage when you are going through the checkout does it tell you that you are getting the extended trial instead of the normal 2 weeks. However, if you enter the wrong promo code, it does throw up an error, which leads me to believe that if this promo code expires, you will know about it and won’t be stuck with a silly 2 week trial instead.

DVDLink.ca Free DVD Rental Trial (2 Weeks!)

Posted by Anna on July 6, 2009 at 6:05 PM

Here’s a great deal for the movie lovers on Bargainmoose! DVD Link is a small Canadian online DVD rental company. In order to attract some new customers, they are offering a free 2 week DVD rental trial. During the trial, you get to have 2 movies at a time in your home. DVDLink.ca Free DVD Rental Trial (2 Weeks!)

You need to enter your credit card details in order to be eligible for the trial. But if you cancel within the 2 week time frame, you won’t be charged a cent. They only charge your credit card if you decide to continue the service after the 2 week free trial. If you do decide to keep renting DVDs, the monthly fees start at $9.95 for a basic package, but go right up to $54.95 for the platinum deal!

You stick a load of movies and TV shows in your rental list, and the DVD rental company ships them out to your door. There are no shipping charges, and never any late fees for returning the DVDs. I find it a very easy process and I love getting new and interesting movies through my front door.

Depending on which company you are renting DVDs with, turnaround times may vary, between you posting a DVD back to them, and receiving the next one. What is the service like with DVDLink.ca? Have you used them? Please let me know in the comments below.

P.S. There are quite a few online DVD rental trials which you can sign up for, click the “DVD rental deals” tag below to see more great freebies, such as a free month of Zip.ca!

Starflix Online DVD Rentals: 2 Week Free Trial!

Posted by Anna on July 4, 2009 at 11:02 PM

Here we have another nice free DVD rental deal! This time, Starflix.ca is offering us all a 2 week free trial.

You get a free trial from Starflix for 2 weeks, with 3 DVDs home at a time. This normally costs $24.95 per month. You can cancel any time you want, or you can continue on with the DVD rental service after the 2 weeks, and just start to pay the fees. Monthly subscription costs start at $9.99 a month, for the basic package. In my opinion, the best package would be the $28.95 one, as you get unlimited rentals, and 4 DVDs at a time. That sounds quite good!

Some points that might interest you:

    • No late fees
    • No due dates
    • No obligation
    • Free shipping

I quite like using online DVD rental companies. I’ve watched quite a few series as a result. For example, I’ve seen the whole of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis using my DVD rentals through various companies. I just put all the series in my DVD rental list, and they shipped them out to me in order.

Have you ever used Starflix DVD rentals? Would you care to share a review in the comments below?

Remember, if your free trial runs out, click the “DVD rental deals” tag below and you can score yourself some more free DVD offers!

Email Discounts: BlockBuster Canada Bargains & Deals!

This is another post in my continuing series of blog posts about companies you can register with to get extra discounts. This week, I’m featuring BlockBusters Canada, the video rental store.

I’m on their email list and I regularly get printable coupons by email from Block Buster DVD rental store. Unfortunately, these coupons are unique and contain my personal details, so I cannot share them here on this blog. A recent example I got was a coupon for renting 2 new releases and getting 1 for free!

If you rent movies from BlockBusters on a frequent basis, I highly recommend signing up to their mailing list to try and save yourself a few dollars! For more email discounts and deals, click the “email discounts” tag below.

Here’s an alternative time while I’m on the topic of DVD rental – consider using the likes of Zip.ca for movie rental – great service and great price.

    Cheers for the photo ericdavid.

Zip.ca DVD Rentals: 2 Weeks Free & Up To $14 Free Cashback!

Posted by Anna on November 23, 2008 at 5:38 PM

Zip.ca DVD Rentals: 2 Weeks Free & Up To $14 Free Cashback! If you’d like to try out a new online DVD rental service, consider using Zip.ca. They offer online rentals from as low as $5.95 per month. All movie rentals come with free shipping too, you never have to worry about that.

They have a variety of packages to choose from. Even if you go for the most basic film rental package and get only 2 DVDs a month, any extra DVDs you want only cost an extra $2.49 each – which is still less than you’d pay for movie rental at your local BlockBuster store.

Here’s a bit of info on the DVD club:

During your free trial (available for first time members only), you’ll enjoy full access to our library of over 72,000 DVD titles including classics, documentaries, TV series and new releases. Looking for hi def movies? We’ve got Blu-ray and HD DVD. With free shipping, no late fees, no due dates and home delivery, Zip is the hassle free way to rent movies.

You can cancel the service at any point – free of charge.

Here’s what really sweetens this deal – you can also get cashback from Canadian rebate site, DealGuild.com. You get $7 cashback if you do the 2 week free trial, but if you stay with them for a further 2 weeks, you get $14 cashback in total. If you were planning on renting movies anyway, you might as well do this and claim the free cashback.

Think of it like this – take the 2 week free trial, then pay for the first month, on the smallest package – this is costing you $5.95 for 6 weeks of online movie rental. PLUS you’d be getting $14 cashback, so you’d technically be up about $8 on the deal!! Sweet!

    Thanks for the image >Fussel<.
