Maxwell & Williams Cirque 12pc Porcelain Dish Set Was $145 | Now $40 @ Hudson’s Bay *HOT*

Maxwell & Williams Cirque 12pc Porcelain Dish Set Was $145 | Now $40 @ Hudsons Bay *HOT*

Today only, Hudson’s Bay Canada has a fantastic deal on a brand new set of porcelain dishes. The Maxwell & Williams Cirque 12-piece Set was $144.95 and is now on sale for $39.99. While it does not qualify for free shipping, shipping will only costs $5.95 so I would jump on this deal as soon as possible.

This twelve-piece set includes four side plates, four bowls, and four dinner plates. You simply supply the silverware and mugs. You may wonder why a 12-piece dish set would cost so much originally: this set is made of porcelain. While porcelain sounds fragile, these dishes can actually hold up to quite a bit of abuse. They are dishwasher safe, freezer safe, and microwave safe. It also says the set is ‘conventional’ safe, which I am guessing is convection oven safe? Read the rest of this entry »

Hudson’s Bay: ROYAL ALBERT New Country Roses 3-pc Set Was $255 | Now $112.50 (EXPIRED)

Hudsons Bay: ROYAL ALBERT New Country Roses 3 pc Set Was $255 | Now $112.50 (EXPIRED)

Hudson’s Bay Canada has discounted this beautiful ROYAL ALBERT New Country Roses 3-piece Tea Set from $255 down to $127.50. With The Bay coupon code HOME1, you will receive $15 off $100. That brings this tea set down to $112.50 with free shipping (as the set costs over $99).

While the title on Hudson’s bay website says “white”, the tea set you are purchasing is the blue set shown in the picture (and shown above). This is a beautiful set with white polka dots and country roses. It is a fresh take on the old country rose design.

I attempted to price compare this set, but it was hard to find it Canada. I found the white version on sale for $169.99 at Bed, Bath, & Beyond Canada. I also consulted Royal Albert website (US) where the blue set was $215 and is now $149.99 US (but out of stock). Given that Royal Albert ships in from the USA, you would be looking at duty charges as well.

I always liked tea sets – perhaps it is because I drink a lot of tea. This set comes complete with a teapot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer. This tea set is made of fine bone china. It combines the classic motif of the country rose with vibrant colours, fun polka dots, and that classic gold rim. I think this is an adorable little tea set! I especially like polka dots – so the white dots on the blue china are a favourite feature of mine.

Now, this teapot qualifies for free shipping as it costs over $99. I noticed that HBC shows shipping charges ($11.98) until you get to the last stage of checkout. On that last page, you will notice that the charges are gone and the shipping is now listed as free. Do not fret at the initial stages when shipping is still showing up – it will be removed by time you pay.

While tea sets do not see relevant in today’s fast-paced work of K-cups and brewers, I think they are a great way to bring class to your kitchen and remind us to slow down. Drinking tea is not a race – it never has been. It is a way to relax, put up your feet, and clear your mind. I think this cute little teapot and matching accessories helps make tea time a special time.

Hudson’s Bay: Up to 65% Off Mikasa Glassware

Posted by on March 3, 2015 at 4:30 PM

Hudsons Bay: Up to 65% Off Mikasa Glassware

Hudson’s Bay currently has wine goblets, flute glasses, and other beverage glasses on sale for up to 65% off.

The clearance section is ripe with excellent deals on glassware. If you are looking for a pre-made set, then try out the Mikasa Ridgefield Smoke Goblet Set of 4 or the Ridgefield Smoke Wine Glass Set of 4 that are on sale from $90 down to $36 per set. The smoked glass really gives this glassware a distinct look. While these glasses may not match with all dishes, you may find they look smashing with stoneware in deeper colours.

Sometimes a set of four just will not do when six will be dining together. Mikasa also offers sets of six glasses for every occasion that will not break the piggy bank. The Alexandra Red Wine Glasses Set Of 6 were $80 and are now $29.99. These glasses are perfectly shaped for that standard accompaniment to red meat: red wine. Shaped slightly different (though hard to see), this Alexandra White Wine Glasses Set of 6 from Mikasa is also on sale from $80 down to $29.99.

Now, I am not a wine drinker, but I do love a glass of bubbly every now and then. The Alexandra Flute Glasses Set of 6 would be perfect for champagne or even morning mimosas with your lover. Originally $80, they are on sale for $29.99.

Do you already have a set of fancy glasses but one has broken or you need to add to your set for a special event (or an ever-expanding family)? This sale also includes single glasses for many popular sets. I own two Love Story Iced Beverage glasses from Mikasa. They match my china set. However, I only bought two glasses originally and I would prefer four. Originally $35, the love story glasses are on sale for $14 each.

For more of a tumbler style glass, the D Amore New Shape Flame Double Old Fashion will work well. Drop in a bit of brandy and a couple ice-cubes for the perfect evening drink. These glasses can also be used for water (what I would use them for), liqueur, and other hard alcohols. Originally $45, this glass is on sale for $18. If you want a different pattern, then pick up the Arctic Lights Hiball on sale for the same price.

Hudson’s Bay Canada offers free shipping on orders of $99 or more or on orders of $49 for HBC cardholders. Orders under the free shipping minimums start at $5.95 (for under $50) for shipping and go up from there.

Hudson’s Bay: 50% off Mikasa Flatware Sets (EXPIRED)

Posted by on February 23, 2015 at 3:00 PM

Hudsons Bay: 50% off Mikasa Flatware Sets (EXPIRED)

Are you looking to acquire a new set of silverware? Hudson’s Bay Canada is offering 50% off various sizes and styles of Mikasa flatware sets.

The flatware are a bit scattered around so I will give you a link to each set on sale.

The Kya 5 Piece Flatware Set and the Calista 5 Piece Flatware Set are both on sale from $69.99 down to $35. Five-pieces give you a single place setting, which is good if you are single. Both are beautifully designed sets and include the standard two forks, two spoons, and a knife.

If you are more than one person, then the 20-piece sets are a more frugal option. A 20-piece set gives you four full place settings, which will handle the average family around the dining table. All three 20-piece sets below were $110 and are now $55.

These sets work out to $13.75 per setting, thus are a much better deal than the single settings above. I think these flatware sets are what an average family would need. However, there is a larger option for bigger families or those who like to entertain often.

Now, the 65-piece settings include service for 12 and a few utensils. You will receive one (1) each of the following utensils: tablespoon, pierced tablespoon, cold meat fork, butter knife, and sugar spoon. The Cocoa Blossom 65 piece Flatware Set is my favourite, as I just love the swirls on the handles. This would be a lovely set for entertaining. All Mikasa flatware is dishwasher safe to make clean up easy. Originally $299.99, the set is now on sale for $150. The Sinclair 65 Piece Flatware Set is another option that was also $299.99 and is now on sale for $150.

it is hard to calculate the value per setting as this flatware set comes with five utensils as well. However, treating the utensils as just another five-piece set, this set works out to approximately $11.54 per setting. Most indubitably, buying in bulk is better. However, if you are never going to need 12 place settings of flatware, it might be best to buy just a 20-piece set.

Hudson’s Bay Canada offers free shipping on orders of $99 or more or on orders of $49 for HBC cardholders. Orders under the free shipping minimums start at $5.95 (for under $50) for shipping and go up from there.

Hudson’s Bay Canada: Up to 80% Off Mikasa Brushstroke China

Posted by on February 19, 2015 at 4:42 PM

Hudsons Bay Canada: Up to 80% Off Mikasa Brushstroke China

Hudson’s Bay Canada is offering up to 80% off Mikasa Brushstroke china. This is not in a set per-say; rather you buy individual pieces to build your own set.

Now, everyone needs the basics when it comes to china. You want a four place setting for each person, and then you figure out how many place settings you will need. Right now, the Brushstroke Square 4 Piece Place Setting is on sale from $115 down to $34.50.  This setting has a nice modern look with square dishes including a square bowl. The colour pallet is black and white so it will match with almost any decor. Included in the set are a dinner plate, salad plate, cereal bowl, and mug. One reviewer gushed that this set is:

Dinnerware that makes my table look stunning!

The Brushstroke Charger is on sale from $75 down to $15 (80% off). Use these smaller plates for snacks, cookies, deserts, and more. I like to have cheese and crackers on mine for a snack, or apples and honey. The plate is just the right size for a piece of cake as well. As the big set above has rounded square corners, round and square accessories will match.

Need a platter on which to serve chicken breasts, grilled salmon, and more? The Brushstroke Oval Platter is on sale from $100 down to $20. Pick up one or two depending on your family’s needs.

I always find people like to own more mugs than china sets include. Pick up a few extra Brushstroke Mugs in this sale. Each mug was $23 and is now $13.80. While it is not the highest discount, I find it better to buy everything I need for a set (and a few extras) at the same time because replacing parts to a china set can be difficult.

Most people I know love their coffee. However, there is no need to drink it right out of the pot. This Brushstroke Coffee Server is absolutely darling and could pull double-duty as a tea pot as well. Originally $110, the server is now $33.

There are a couple other pieces you can buy for the collection but this covers the basics nicely.

Hudson’s Bay Canada offers free shipping on orders of $99 or more or on orders of $49 for HBC cardholders. Orders under the free shipping minimums start at $5.95 (for under $50) for shipping and go up from there.

January 13 Porcelain 20-Piece Place Setting Was $100 | Now $40 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on January 13, 2015 at 4:30 PM Porcelain 20 Piece Place Setting Was $100 | Now $40 (EXPIRED)

This deal is drawing a lot of attention on the forums, so I thought it blog worthy my dear Moosers. The Melange Nouveau Classic Porcelain 20-Piece Place Setting in platinum (serving for four) is on sale from $100.09 down to $39.77.

While the set is available in other colours, only the platinum is on sale for this price. Now, this is a beautiful four serving set with 20 pieces. The set includes:

  • Four 10.8 inch dinner plates
  • Four 8.5 inch salad plates
  • Four 8.75 inch soup bowls
  • Four 10 oz. cups
  • Four cup saucers

This set is safe to use for your daily dinning set if you want. It is microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The rounded edges almost in a soft petal pattern are designed to be chip resistant. While porcelain sounds fragile, it is baked at very high degrees to make these dishes stronger than stoneware or earthenware dishes.

There are no reviews of these dishes on, but there are a few on One reviewer said:

Great everyday dishes. Came packed great. No scratches. Look great with mixing other dishes as well. Dishwasher safe. I’ve used them everyday since I purchased them and they look beautiful. Definitely a great choice and buy for everyday use.

A couple reviewers reported minor pocking or runs in the glaze while others reported perfect glaze and no pock marking. Of course, you can always return any defective items you receive if you should receive a flawed set.

Overall, I think this is a lovely set of porcelain dishes and a great price. I also think that a 20-piece set is perfect for smaller families. When you have too many dishes, you never seem to wash any of them until you run out. In our house, that means eight bowls and eight plates (three times over for the different sizes), and then all the silverware is just sitting on the counter waiting to be washed. Yuk. I really like smaller sets myself if there are four or less people in the house.

This set of dishes will ship for free as your order will be over $25. Thank you to FeliciaC for posting this deal on the forums.

Beyond The Rack: Denby And Splendide Dinnerware 60-80% Off

Beyond The Rack: Denby And Splendide Dinnerware 60 80% Off

Having recently moved in with a roommate I have been looking for a second set of dishes for keeping stuff separate.  So, I was quite excited to see an offer from Beyond the Rack in my inbox this afternoon for gorgeous Denby and Splendide dinnerware, discounted as much as 80 percent off.

I could go down to Canadian Tire or Wal-Mart and get a cheap and basic set of dishes, but nothing as pretty and classic as what Beyond the Rack has, and not for prices this deeply discounted.

Some lovely examples:

These stoneware dishes are microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, while the cutlery is heavy gauge gleaming stainless steel.

Kari Whiteman, “Decorator to the Stars”, writes:

Denby and Splendide dinnerware combine elegant design, exceptional quality, and easy functionality. Feast your eyes on a tabletop collection that combines chic, contemporary styles and aesthetics with more traditional items, perfect for wedding gifts and year-round usage.

I don’t know a lot about dishes, but I know I like the look of these ones. I did a quick comparison with some Splendide cutlery on sale by The Bay ($45 for a 20 piece set) , and some Denby ware also on sale at The Bay ($25 for a single plate), so this looks like a fantastic price for quality kitchen ware.
