DOD RX7W+ Car Rearview Mirror Camera Only $179.99 & Free Shipping @ NCIX Canada

DOD RX7W+ Car Rearview Mirror Camera Only $179.99 & Free Shipping @ NCIX Canada

Does putting your car into reverse send you into a full-blown, sweat-covered panic?  Never fear putting it in R again with this deal from NCIX Canada.  The regular price of the DOD RX7W+ Car Rearview Mirror was $219.99, but right now you can get it for only $179.99 as well as get free shipping right to your door!

I recently bought a truck: a huge truck.  This thing is a monster. On top of that, my boyfriend wanted to add a trailer hitch.  I am an absolute parking disaster in this thing, to the point that I generally park as far away from my destination as possible to avoid having to wedge my truck between any other vehicles.  There are, however, those rare occasions where I can’t find an isolated spot and may have to *gasp* put the truck into reverse to get out.  What’s a girl to do?  The truck bed is about a mile long and being up so high I’m just never entirely sure there isn’t a brood of little ducklings crossing behind me.  For the safety of everyone out there, I really need to get one of these rearview mirror cameras.

Now, most rearview DVRs include a dash camera which may be enticing to anyone interested in forcibly entering your vehicle, and I for one am always forgetting to put stuff like that away. This particular model, however, is actually disguised as a rearview mirror and attaches to your existing mirror with Velcro very easily, and is compatible with most vehicles on the market.  It has a Wide Dynamic Range lens and wide angle superior low light performance, helping you back out of the most troublesome locations.

Price comparison

I did a little snooping and found this same rearview mirror camera at CanadaComputers.com for $189.99 (plus shipping) and at Henrys.com for $219.99.

Shipping

Shipping on this item is completely free!

If you happen to be in the Surrey, BC area, be sure to check out NCIX’s Surrey store grand opening on Saturday July 26th from 9:00am to 6:00pm for door crashers and prizes.

Newegg Canada: FujiFilm Finepix XP200 Camera only $239.99!

Posted by on July 10, 2014 at 7:30 PM

Newegg Canada: FujiFilm Finepix XP200 Camera only $239.99!

Be ready to capture all your fun family summer memories with the FujiFilm Finepix XP 200 Camera from Newegg.ca for only $239.99 (regularly 299.99)!

I’ll be the first to admit that sales named after sales that take place during other times of the year kind of tick me off.  Christmas in July and boxing week in July honestly just make me shake my head.  So Newegg’s Mid-Year Black Friday Event had me rolling my eyes a little bit.  Are we really that lost for creativity that we have to name an event in July after one in November?  How about hot summer sale?  Ok, rant over.  After I got past the annoying sale name, I was looking through the deals that are mostly on a whole bunch of gizmos and gadgets that I don’t understand and am not sure what I would do with.  But I did stumble on the great deal above for a FujiFilm Finepix XP200 camera, on sale for $239.99 (regularly $299.99).  Compared to what I found at The Source ($269.96 on sale) and from a secondary seller on Amazon.ca ($274.01), this is a nice price on a nice camera.

This camera is essentially everything-proof.  It has four way protection, making it waterproof to 50 feet, shockproof to 6.6 feet, freezeproof to 14 degrees F (minus 10 degrees C) and dustproof.  The pool, splash pad, beach, and pretty much anywhere else I could think of taking this camera have nothing on that four way protection!  I think this camera would be pretty perfect for beach vacations where being dropped, getting wet, and sand are major factors.

The camera features a 16.4 megapixel ½.3” CMOS, a 5X optical zoom lens, and full HD 1080P video recording capability.  There is a 3.0” LCD monitor that is treated with an anti-reflective coating which helps to see the screen even in bright sunlight.  The Fujifilm Finepix XP200 also offers wireless image transfer allowing you to transfer up to 30 photos at a time to smartphones.  You are also able to access your camera remotely from your smartphone or tablet.

The Fujifilm Finepix XP200 is available in both blue and yellow.  I really like the yellow one as I feel like I might have a better chance of finding it when I put it down in a “safe place” that I forget about almost immediately.

Shipping depends where you live, but for me it was around $7.

Henry’s Canada Coupon Code: $10 Off $50

Posted by on July 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM

Henrys Canada Coupon Code: $10 Off $50

I don’t know if this is a new thing, but Henry’s has a promo code out that is good until the end of today. You’ll get $10 off of your $50 purchase. I have not seen coupon codes for them ever before, so this is a pretty sweet deal.

Click here to shop @ Henrys.com now

  • Coupon Code: THXJULY14WEB
  • Discount: $10 off $50
  • Expiry: 10th July 2014

Your first thought might be that Henry’s is a camera store, thus a place where you might spend way over $50. I can attest to your feelings as I recently spent over $900 at Henry’s buying myself a new Nikon camera. But, my camera needs a few things, namely lenses and other fun accessories. While I wouldn’t call myself a pro by any means, I also wouldn’t call myself the average person who takes photos. I did a year of photojournalism classes and I really believe have a slight talent for composition. I never toot my own horn, but I really am in love with many of the photos I’ve taken. This is why I spend a few $$ on a good camera. It really pains me to see people with a new baby with blurry photos. What are those kids going to think when they grow up and there are only blurry or sub-par newborn photos of them? Especially with technology the way it is now, there is no excuse!

So, one accessory for my camera that I absolutely must get, which I just found out about when I bought my camera was this Nikon WU-1A wireless mobile adapter. For use with Nikon cameras (like the one I just blogged about from The Source), you can transfer or upload your photos wirelessly. This means that if you are out with your camera and get that awesome shot of your kid scoring the goal, you can upload it to your social media immediately, rather than a) waiting until you get home to share the news or b) using your smartphone to take the shot, which is definitely not going to be as good as the shot from your Nikon camera. As I said in the last post, I’m tired of taking all of my electronic devices with me just to get “the shot”. Now I can get my photo, video and upload it with one device. This item is $69.99, but once I added it to the cart and added the coupon, the price came down $10 to $59.99. I’m happy I waited and am totally getting this for myself.

Shipping is free once you’ve spent $99, so you might want to try to get up to that threshold and save a few more dollars.

The Source Canada: Nikon CoolPix P530 Only $299

Posted by on July 10, 2014 at 10:30 AM

The Source Canada: Nikon CoolPix P530 Only $299

The Source has a cool deal going on for the Nikon CoolPix P530. It is on sale for $317.99 with a regular price of $369.99, but if you add the coupon code TSP530, your price will go down to $299.99.

Of course I spent some time price comparing and researching and found this bundle from Costco for the camera, plus a few other items for $394.99. It is a good deal if you want the SD card and gadget bag, although you are essentially paying $94 for those two items, which doesn’t make any sense to me. Best Buy also has the camera on sale for $329.99, but The Source’s price still beats it. Vistek also has the CoolPix camera on sale, but for $375.99 and it is out of stock. As you can see, The Source has the best deal.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, DSLR camera with zooming capabilities, you’ve come to the right place. This camera has 42x optical zoom and 84x dynamic fine zoom. It has the vibration reduction technology that gives your photos a clear look, even if your hands are a little shaky. I get excited taking photos too! I recently bought myself a new Nikon camera, although it is a far more expensive one, as I need the option to change lenses. This one doesn’t let you do that, but if you don’t care to, I’m going to say this is a perfect camera for you. It has so many features you’ll need otherwise. I think the Nikon brand is solid and I’ve never been disappointed in what Nikon delivers.

What most cameras are coming with these days is the ability to shoot 1080p full HD video. I wish I knew that before I bought my handy cam, as there is such a thing as having too many electronic devices with you. When my son had a play at his school, I had with me: my DSLR, the telephoto lens, my handycam, plus my phone so I could take a photo or video and immediately update it on my Facebook page. How nice it would be to just carry one recording device and be done with it!

You can get free in-store pick-up or you can get it shipped to you for $4.99.

Costco Canada: Pentax Q10 Digital Camera – Just $200

Posted by on July 7, 2014 at 9:00 PM

Costco Canada: Pentax Q10 Digital Camera Just $200

If you’re looking to buy a new digital camera, then Costco is selling the Pentax Q10 camera for just $199.97.

Towards the last trimester of my pregnancy, I upgraded to an iPhone 5s from the 4s generation one because I figured that with the imminent arrival of my baby, I would need a better camera. In hindsight, I should have perhaps kept my old phone and bought a digital camera instead because although the quality of my pictures has definitely improved, they definitely don’t compare to those taken with actual cameras as they are grainier when zoomed into.

The Pentax Q10 has the following noteworthy features:

  • 12.4 MP camera with a CMOS sensor
  • 3″ LCD monitor
  • full HD video
  • 5 fps high speed continuous shooting

The Photography Blog also recommends this camera for the everyday user as it has DLSR-like qualities without being a full-fledged DLSR one. I also really like that it’s small enough to fit into a pocket, or perhaps an overstuffed purse (;)) and only weighs 180 grams.

As for the battery life, according to Costco’s description, it can take an average of 260 pictures before needing to be recharged. The battery itself is also a lithium-ion one, which means that you won’t experience significant loss of charge when the camera isn’t in use. I particularly like this aspect as I’m definitely guilty of forgetting to recharge my electronics after using them.

I am very impressed for how much camera you get for a little price. It takes great shots if your not a pro but love pictures. Fun to use and looks smart. Super small and compact.

I love how that reviewer writes that this digital camera looks smart. I’m not too savvy with cameras, though I fancy myself to know a thing or two, but I definitely wouldn’t mind busting out this gagdet and taking pretty pictures, while turning the dial to the right setting as if I know exactly what I’m doing. Just kidding, but if you’re an everday photo-taker, then I’m sure you will catch my drift.

At $199, this is definitely the best deal all around for this nifty camera, especially since Amazon has it for $336.39 and The Camera Store is selling it for $379.56.

Even better is that Costco always offers free shipping on the vast majority of its products and you won’t have to worry about any pesky shipping fees.

Shop.ca: Samsung NX2000 20.3MP SMART Camera With Lens (Now $349.99 Was $599.99)

Posted by on June 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Shop.ca: Samsung NX2000 20.3MP SMART Camera With Lens (Now $349.99 Was $599.99)

Looking to replace your point and shoot camera or ramp up your photography skills? Shop.ca is offering a pretty sweet deal on the Samsung NX2000 20.3MP SMART Camera with a 20-50mm Lens for $349.99 (regularly $599.99).

Point and shoot cameras have come a long way over the last decade. Although I don’t personally own this camera, I do have a Nikon DSLR and I absolutely love the option of the interchangeable lenses. Although most would say comparing a Nikon DSLR to a Samsung point and shoot is like night and day (and I would have to agree), I can say that a few of the features on this camera intrigue me and if I was in the market for a point and shoot camera, this one would be on my list.

Here are a few features that peak my interest in the Samsung NX2000 20.3MP SMART Camera:

  • The price: it fits a budget conscious buyer.
  • Changeable lens on a compact camera gives you the best of both worlds. Being able to adapt your camera based on your surroundings will open up a whole new world of possibilities for your photography.
  • Share your photos immediately via social media or email, or send them directly to a computer, printer or cloud service. Having the capacity to do this on the go ensures you never need to worry about running out of storage space.
  • The variety of added features make this camera so versatile, for instance the panoramic option (3D option as well), the several different easy-to-use filters allow you to edit and enhance on the go, as well as the ability to shoot video footage, a nice option when still photography doesn’t quite capture the magic.
  • Lastly, the fact that it comes with the 20-50mm lens to get you started. This is a standard zoom lens, perfect for everything from portraits to landscapes to sunsets.

Check out this review from one happy camera connoisseur:

This is a powerful, compact, and easy to use camera. The Samsung NX2000 is more than just a bridge between a point & shoot and a DSLR, it’s the real deal. In size, it’s comparable to many point and shoot cameras (without the lens) but in picture quality, it really shines. Even pictures taken at a distance come out with stunning detail. The easy share function means that I can automatically transport my photos to my smartphone and post on social networks right away. Or when you’re at home or at a WiFi hotspot, you can upload your photos to Facebook or sorted cloud drives.

You can find this camera at Amazon.ca for $359.99 making the purchase at Shop.ca $10 sweeter.

As always shipping is free on any order you place at Shop.ca, and you can earn Aeroplan points on every purchase with Shop.ca.

Amazon Canada: Canon PowerShot S200 $180 (Save $140)

Posted by on June 27, 2014 at 9:00 AM

Amazon Canada: Canon PowerShot S200 $180 (Save $140)

Amazon Canada is selling the Canon PowerShot S200 Digital Camera in black for $179.99, originally $319.99.

I price compared this camera with some other Canadian companies to make sure you are getting the best deal. I found this camera at Future Shop Canada for $239.99, at Staples Canada for $249.97 and at Henry’s Canada for $269.99. Even looking at the best of those three prices (Future Shop), you are still saving an extra $60 with Amazon Canada’s deal.

This camera features a 10.1 MP camera lens, built-in Wi-Fi, 3.0″ LCD touch screen panel, and the ability to take 720p HD video. The Wi-Fi allows you to share your pictures wirelessly: just click and upload them to any one of your favourite social networking websites through the Canon Image Gateway. This camera can also connect wirelessly to both Android and iOS devices, a huge step forward for computer-less people. The camera can also print your photos directly to a wireless PictBridge certified printer.

There is a great review of this camera on Amazon.ca. While I will not repeat the entire thing here, this is an excerpt I thought would be useful:

The camera has the same excellent large-pixel CCD sensor as other pre-S100 PowerShot cameras. Low light performance is exceptional. Don’t be misled by the 10.1 megapixel count: a noise-free 10 megapixel image looks great compared to those taken with a camera with bigger numbers but subjectively inferior sharpness under low lighting.

I find this rather helpful because 10.1 MP count would usually turn me off as I would go for 16MP or above. However, the writer has a very good point and I would certainly reconsider the unit based on his feedback. While I love my DSLR, do not get me wrong, it is very cumbersome to carry around all the time. Many people would suggest I just use my iPhone camera but I tend to get frustrated with it. I took about ten pictures of a friend of mine yesterday: half of them were blurry, and the lighting on the three I took indoors was sub-par. Perhaps I am too accustomed to the great quality of a DSLR, but I will always need a better quality camera than my phone can provide.

If you are looking for a mid-ground camera, something that delivers brilliant pictures and still fits in your pocket, then check out this unit.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Henry’s Canada: Samsung NX2000 with Galaxy Tab 3 Bundle Now $480

Posted by on May 27, 2014 at 10:00 PM

Henrys Canada: Samsung NX2000 with Galaxy Tab 3 Bundle Now $480

Henry’s Canada has bundled together the Samsung NX2000 with the Galaxy Tab 3, 7 inch (white). Originally $900.04, the bundle is now on sale for $479.99 and worth every penny.

To clarify, the Samsung NX2000 Smart Camera in this bundle comes with the 20-50mm lens.

So I did some price comparing. Walmart.ca has the exact same bundle on sale for $548. This bundle is also at Future Shop Canada for $599.99, but it is sold out. I didn’t find the bundle at Amazon.ca, but I did find the Samsung NX2000 in white which costs $381.22 just by itself.

This camera is the bomb. It packs amazing quality in such a small package. It features the ability to interchange lenses and comes with a 20-50mm F/3.5-5.6 ED lens. It is pretty much like a DSLR that is built for transportation.

The camera features many great features including a 20.3MP sensor, 3.7″ touch screen, built in wi-fi and an external flash. You can also record movies with your camera so it is all you need to capture life in high quality. Together with the Samsung Galaxy 3 – a fantastic little tablet great for your everyday needs, this bundle is perfect.

You will receive free shipping on orders of $99 or more at Henry’s.

Henry’s Canada: Nikon D5100 Kit Only $600

Posted by on May 23, 2014 at 5:00 PM

Henrys Canada: Nikon D5100 Kit Only $600

If you are in the market for an all-in-one starter kit on a DSLR, Henry’s has a fantastic deal right now. Get the Nikon D5100 with two lenses for only $599.99, with a regular price of $929.93.

To put this deal in perspective, I found the camera with an average selling price of $500 – $520. The second DX VR 55-200 f/4-5.6G IF-ED lens sells for a minimum of $200 and up. This means if you bought these two items separately, even on sale, you’d spend a minimum of $700. So while it isn’t quite as high as the listed regular price of $929, you are still saving $100.

I have quite an aged Nikon camera, so I need a new one and have been waiting for a deal. I love having the 55-200 lens and love that it’s included in this deal. My 55-200 lens broke a while back; it wasn’t worth the repair cost and I feel lost without it. I used that lens quite a bit, with my children in sports, plays, etc. The regular lens just doesn’t cut it for close-up photos when you can’t get up close. When I enquired about buying a new lens, the sale associate actually suggested just spending a few hundred more dollars on a new camera as there are so many new features like vibration reduction. Also, mine can’t do HD movies like this one, which gets rid of the need for a video camera.

I’ve noticed an added bonus when you purchase this kit, which is a free tripod (worth $79.99) and free gadget bag (worth $54.99)! You need to add both to your cart along with the camera. That truly makes this quite the great deal.

Shipping is free when you spend $99 at Henry’s, so this camera kit will get to you for free.

Henry’s Canada: Save Up To $1000 On Nikon Lenses

Henrys Canada: Save Up To $1000 On Nikon Lenses

Henry’s is having a sale on Nikon lenses and you can enjoy some big savings – as much as $1000 on the pricier lenses.

I am in the market for a new Nikon DSLR, so I’ve been watching the sales. One item I can’t live without with my camera is a telephoto lens. With my boys in sports, a telephoto lens helps me capture that perfect shot – the determination on their face, the speed of their feet, the perfect kick. But, lenses can be mega expensive, so a sale is must-have before you put down your hard-earned money on an item that could be seen as frivolous or not necessary (although it is to me!).

I could save $100 on this Nikon AF-S DX 55-300MM VR 4.5-5.6G ED 2197. Did you get all that? Basically, this is a super telephoto lens, with vibration reduction and so much more. The reviewers give it a 4.8 out of 5, which is really good. It was $430.01, now $329.99.

If you are a professional and want the big guns, this Nikon AF-S 600MM 4.0 VR II ED 2173 is $1000 off! Regularly $10,800.08, you’ll pay just $9,799.99 instead.

If you spend over $99, and with this sale, you most likely will, you’ll get free shipping too.

Staples Canada Printables: $25 – $75 Off During 5 Days Of Great Deals

Posted by on March 24, 2014 at 8:30 PM

Staples Canada Printables: $25 $75 Off During 5 Days Of Great Deals

Starting March 25th 2014, you can present a different Staples printable coupon in-stores to save up to $75 on items like camcorders, cameras, hard drives, monitors, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.

Valid for only one day each, here are the different deals you can take advantage of with the Staples coupon:

  • Tuesday, March 25th 2014: $25 off any camera or camcorder $99+
  • Wednesday, March 26th 2014: $30 off any hard drive $100+
  • Thursday, March 27th 2014: $50 off any computer monitor $149+
  • Friday, March 28th 2014: $50 off any tablet $299+
  • Saturday, March 29th 2014: $75 off any laptop or desktop computer $599+

As I’m due to give birth soon, I have been planning to add a whole bunch of feel-good movies onto a hard drive to potentially distract myself and hubby with at the hospital. Whether we’ll actually get to watch them is something I’ll have to update you moosers on later, but in the meantime that’s the plan, with the only problem being that I’m in need of a new external hard drive. So I’ll probably be using the Wednesday coupon to save $30 on the Western Digital 4TB USB 3.0 My Book external hard drive priced at $189.99. Although it’s $171.24 at both Best Buy and Future Shop, with the coupon, it comes down to just $159.99 at Staples.

In any case, there is definitely no shortage of stock to choose from; just make sure to carefully price compare with all of the other major stores first!

Canon Canada: EOS Rebel T3 Only $300

Canon Canada: EOS Rebel T3 Only $300

Get the Canon EOS Rebel T3 18-55 IS in black for only $299 because it has a damaged box. Price comparing, this item was $379.98 at Walmart and Amazon and $389.98 at Best BuyYou are saving yourself at least $80 because of a box.

I’m considering getting myself a new camera to replace my 8-year-old DSLR. I don’t know if this is the one, although I have a time goal as I’m taking a trip next month and really want a new DSLR. I’m usually partial to Nikon, but this deal is almost too good to pass up! This has everything I need like a 12.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor and a 63-zone, dual-lyaer metering system for the richest and most detailed photos. It also has HD video recording, which is very handy to have included.

I found a number of reviews online and found this camera to be likeable. It is light and easy to use and a good camera for the beginner photographer. This would make a sweet graduation gift for a high school or post-secondary student. It isn’t a car, but it is a $300 gift from the heart that you know they can use in this photo-heavy world!

This item will ship for free as Canon offers free shipping on orders over $15.

The Source Canada: Save Up To $230 On Canon DSLRs

The Source Canada: Save Up To $230 On Canon DSLRs

Get up to $230 off Canon DSLR cameras at The Source.

I am in need of a new DSLR camera as mine is eight years old and getting a little worn out. Technology moves so fast, the cameras out now are so much better than they were even just that eight short years ago. I am actually in the market for a Nikon, as I already have extra lenses and such for Nikon, so this sale doesn’t help me, but Canon is a superb brand and worthy of a look.
