July 17 $145 Seagate Expansion 4TB Desktop External Hard Drive + Free Shipping

Posted by on July 17, 2014 at 11:30 AM $145 Seagate Expansion 4TB Desktop External Hard Drive + Free Shipping

I am always filling up my hard drive with photos and downloads.  Not any more with this deal from  Seagate Expansion 4TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 on sale for only $145.98 (Reg. $397.99)!

Let’s talk about user friendliness.  This external hard drive is automatically recognized by Windows, so there is no software installation required.   It is as easy as opening the box, plugging in two cords, and you’re running.  I am fully computer literate, but I do sometimes have a hard time installing hardware.  The ease of installing this device really appeals to me.  It’s really just plug and play.

As’s #1 best seller in external hard drives, Seagate’s model offers a 4TB capacity.  Again, hardware isn’t my thing, so I didn’t really have a great concept of what that meant in layman’s terms.  Here is an example of the type of storage capacity we’re talking about:

  • Up to 3000 hours of digital video
  • Up to 750 2 hour DVD movies
  • Up to 960 000 digital photos
  • Up to 49 980 hours of digital music

I think it’s possible that even I would have a hard time filling up that bad boy.  Compatible operating systems are Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit).

Now I live out in the middle of nowhere.  I had no choice but to get wireless internet, and the reception within my house is spotty at best.  I’m often isolated in the office with my laptop, but often my family wants to watch a downloaded movie in the living room or bedroom, which involves a lot of work getting said movie from my computer to another device.  With an external hard drive, I would literally be able to unplug the 2 cords from one computer and pop them into another for a smooth transfer.  Easy peasy.  The unit is also compact in size, making for easy storage.

As far as comparison is concerned, I found the same external hard drive over for $164.97.  Both Best Buy and Future Shop are selling the unit for $169.99.  On top of the low price, since this item is over $25, you automatically qualify for free super saver shipping at

We don’t know when this deal ends, so act fast!

July 11 New Venue Tablet for $49 with Student Computer Purchase

Posted by on July 11, 2014 at 10:00 PM New Venue Tablet for $49 with Student Computer Purchase

Dell Canada has started their back to school offer for students. Purchase a select computer from Dell, and you will receive $121 off a Dell Venue 7″ tablet. Regularly $169.99, the cost of the tablet will be reduced to only $49.

While exploring this offer I found out that you do not have to just get the base model Venue 7″ to get this deal. You can actually get larger models and you will receive $121 off each of them. Here are the models available with this promo:

  • New Dell Venue 7 (16GB) Was $169.99 | Now $49
  • New Del Venue 7 (16 GB) Red Was $189.99 | Now $69
  • New Venue 8 16 GB Black Was $219.99 | Now $99
  • New venue 8 16 GB Red Was $239.99 | Now $119

The discounted prices are all for students when you purchase one of the computers through the above link. The student offer starts as low as $699.99, and the lowest priced computer I found was the Inspiron Desktop 3000 Series with 3 Year In-Home Support. For students this unit is actually discount as it regularly costs $748.99, and it is now only $699.99. The desktop features a fourth Generation Intel Core i5 Processor, Windows 8.1 operating system, 8GB Memory for speed, and a 1TB Hard Drive for storage. A dell wired keyboard and a three-button optical mouse are included. You would need to purchase a monitor separately or use your TV as your external monitor. Then add on your favourite tablet for a great discount.

Just a note on the Venue 7 and the Venue 8: besides the one-inch size difference, you should be aware of another major difference. Most notably, the Venue 8 allows you to expand the memory with an external microSD card. You can add on up to 32GB of memory. The Venue 7 comes with the memory it has (16GB) and does not have a slot for an external memory card. It was for this reason that my husband recently picked up the Dell Venue 8.

If you sign up for Dell Advantage, then you will get 5% cash back on a Dell ePromotional Card. I am still waiting to see how this works as we placed an order at Dell Canada a bit ago and are curious to see if the Dell Advantage actually processed. I had major difficulty getting it to properly link to the account. If anyone else has any success with this, let me know.

Receive free shipping on all orders at Dell Canada.

Apple Canada Back to School Offer

Posted by on July 1, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Apple Canada Back to School Offer

Apple Canada has just started up their back to school offer for students and teachers. With the purchase of desktops, laptops, iPads, and iPhones you will receive up to a $110 Apple Store gift card.

The first offer is two-fold. When you buy a laptop or desktop in the Apple Store for Education, you save money off the original retail price.

Buy a Mac for university and get $110 Apple Store gift card only at the Apple Store for Education. For example, an 11″ Macbook Air will cost you $949 as a student, which is $50 off the regular price of $999. Then, you will also receive the $110 bonus Apple Store Card.

In the land of desktops, the 21.5-inch: 1.4GHz Mac is $1149 regularly, but it costs $1099 with educational pricing. You will also receive that $110 gift card with your purchase.

If you purchase an iPad for college, you will receive a $55 Apple store gift card and receive educational pricing discounts. The iPad mini starts at $319 at Apple, but with the educational discount, it will cost students and teachers just $299 and you get the bonus $55 Apple Store gift card. Likewise, the Apple Air in the educational store starts at $499 instead of the regular $519 and comes with that gift card.

If you buy an iPhone for school, you will also receive a $55 Apple Store gift card but there are no further educational discounts. It is still a good deal, if you have wanted to get your hands on an iPhone because you can use the gift card to load your phone up with all the apps you want to buy and some great music as well.

This was always my favourite time of year to buy my Apple products. I really enjoyed combining the gift and the student discount to optimize my buying power. My graduation is in November so I will no longer be a student for the first time in many years. I am now carefully considering what I should buy before my status as a student ends best to take advantage of student discounts like these. You never realize how nice this kind of discount is until you are no longer eligible!

Apple Canada offers free shipping on orders of $75 or more so any major electronics, like these, that you will be buying will ship free.

Newegg Canada: Microsoft Keyboard Only $7 & Free Shipping

Newegg Canada: Microsoft Keyboard Only $7 & Free Shipping

Newegg is having a flash shell shocker sale on the Microsoft 200 keyboard, now only $6.99, regularly $19.99.

There isn’t too much to say about this keyboard except that I have the exact same one. The keys are functional, normal and black. It also has a USB port, Windows start button and 10-key pad. It is simply a very affordable keyboard for your computer.

My thoughts are that even if you don’t need a new keyboard, you get this one (or up to three if this is your pleasure), as it will make a great back-up keyboard when the one you have inevitably has a problem. I’ve had a number of keyboards and something usually goes wrong with them – drinks spilled on them, something sticky inside them, letters rub off, keys fall off, or in a fit of rage you chuck it when your internet keeps going down. Ok, the last one has never happened, but I have thought of it when I’m trying to get my work done and my internet shuts off and on repeatedly. I do not recommend keyboard abuse though.

I also love that there is free shipping on this item, since there is not much worse than having a really hot deal for under $10, but free shipping is only available over $100 or it is more than the cost of the item.

I’m going to assume this deal won’t last long, so pull out your credit card and get to buying this before they sell out or the price goes back to $20.

May 17 Coupon Code Exclusive: 33% Discount Site-Wide!

Posted by on May 17, 2014 at 8:27 AM Coupon Code Exclusive: 33% Discount Site Wide!

For the Victoria Day long weekend, Dell Finanacial Services Canada has sent us an exclusive coupon code which will get you a 33% discount on anything on their site! Here is the information:

Click here to use the Dell Refurbished coupon code online now

  • Coupon Code: MOOSE33
  • Discount: 33% off
  • Expires: 23rd May 2014

Please note that when you’re testing this coupon code in your shopping cart, you may have to enter your shipping postcode before you see a discount appear. That’s what happened to me when I was testing out the promo code.

In case you are not aware,, also known as Dell Financial Services, is the place where you can buy any refurbished Dell computers (as you might be able to tell by the name). The site offers many hundred premium grade refurbished off lease computers and accessories. In case you’re concerned about buying refurbished, all items come with a 100 day warranty as well as a 30 day return policy.

And on to the deals!

I’ve been a huge fan of Dell monitors for years now. On the site, monitor prices start at $71 for the likes of this Dell E Series E190S 19-inch Flat Panel Monitor. When you add the coupon code, it drops to only $46.86! Wow! Shipping for me showed at $8, which isn’t too bad. If you want to go slightly bigger in screen size, the Dell Professional Series P2211H 21.5-inch Flat Panel Monitor is priced at $139 and would be only $91.74 with the Dell coupon code.

If you’re checking out the deals on the Dell Refurbished laptops, the prices start at just $327 for this Latitude E6400 Core 2 Duo 2.53 (P8700) which would be only $215.82 with the coupon code added. Or, right at the top of the scale is this Dell Latitude E6420 Core i5 2.60 (i5-2540M), priced at $613 and it drops to only $404 when you apply the promo code.

There are some very good prices in the Dell Refurbished store, and backed by the 100 day warranty means you could potentially get a good bargain here. Shipping depends on what you buy and where you live, but you can easily get a quote for this in your shopping cart. Coupon Code Exclusive: 33% Discount Site Wide!

Dell Canada: Laptop or Desktop for Under $400

Dell Canada: Laptop or Desktop for Under $400

Need to replace your clunky old laptop with the blue screen of death or need a new desktop on a budget? Dell Canada has two deals on right now where you can buy a brand new desktop or a laptop for under $400 each.

First of all let me introduce you to my little friend the Inspiron 3000 Small Desktop. Regularly priced at $449.99, this computer is now on sale for $399.99. He comes with 4GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Premium for all of us who abhor Windows 8 *shudder*. The design is super compact so it won’t take up a lot of space in your home. One of my favourite features is the multi-media card reader, which I use on my computer all the time when transferring photos from my DSLR. As per usual, monitor and accessories must be purchased separately if you don’t already have them.

The second fantastic deal is on this little Inspiron 15 (non-touch) laptop. Originally $379.99, it is now down to $349.99. The next time my mother does in her current laptop she is totally getting one of these. This is the perfect basic laptop for anyone needing to use a word processor, social media, and email. It also features 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive so, in my humble opinion, it is better than the desktop because it has its own built in monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Staples Canada Printables: $25 – $75 Off During 5 Days Of Great Deals

Posted by on March 24, 2014 at 8:30 PM

Staples Canada Printables: $25 $75 Off During 5 Days Of Great Deals

Starting March 25th 2014, you can present a different Staples printable coupon in-stores to save up to $75 on items like camcorders, cameras, hard drives, monitors, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.

Valid for only one day each, here are the different deals you can take advantage of with the Staples coupon:

  • Tuesday, March 25th 2014: $25 off any camera or camcorder $99+
  • Wednesday, March 26th 2014: $30 off any hard drive $100+
  • Thursday, March 27th 2014: $50 off any computer monitor $149+
  • Friday, March 28th 2014: $50 off any tablet $299+
  • Saturday, March 29th 2014: $75 off any laptop or desktop computer $599+

As I’m due to give birth soon, I have been planning to add a whole bunch of feel-good movies onto a hard drive to potentially distract myself and hubby with at the hospital. Whether we’ll actually get to watch them is something I’ll have to update you moosers on later, but in the meantime that’s the plan, with the only problem being that I’m in need of a new external hard drive. So I’ll probably be using the Wednesday coupon to save $30 on the Western Digital 4TB USB 3.0 My Book external hard drive priced at $189.99. Although it’s $171.24 at both Best Buy and Future Shop, with the coupon, it comes down to just $159.99 at Staples.

In any case, there is definitely no shortage of stock to choose from; just make sure to carefully price compare with all of the other major stores first!

Microsoft Canada: 50% Off Surface Pro 128 GB – Now $499

Posted by on March 18, 2014 at 11:00 PM

Microsoft Canada: 50% Off Surface Pro 128 GB Now $499

Microsoft Canada is offering the 128GB Surface Pro for only $499 which is $500 off the original retail price.

So, this tablet hasn’t sold for its original price for a while. Most places had priced it around $650 for the last few months and then it went on sale at both Best Buy and Future Shop for $499.99. However, you can’t buy it there because they are both SOLD OUT (that went quick). However, people seem to be ignoring the fact that Microsoft sells their own products and you can still buy the Surface Pro there for like 95 to 99 cents cheaper, and it is still in stock (for now).

What is so cool about this thing? It is a laptop in tablet form. Have you seen the ad with the awesome looking computer propped up on a kickstand and then they put it flat on the floor and draw on it? That is the Surface Pro. It combines the best of both worlds and changes the way you interact with your electronics. Here is what one enthusiastic reviewer said:

I’ve been using the surface pro for 2 weeks now without any problems. I am highly impressed with the design and capabilities of this tablet. This is a powerful machine and is unlike anything else on the market today. It’s great for gaming as well as productivity, I highly recommend the type cover to transform it into a true laptop and tablet or as I like to call it .. “Tabtop”. I love it, it’s simply amazing and wipes the floor with ipads!

This is going to sell out extremely soon if Best Buy and Future Shop are any indication. If you want one, don’t wait to buy it. If you are a student, you can save an extra 10% on the Surface.

Get free shipping on all orders.

March 4 HP Envy Recline 23″ Touchsmart Beats SE Desktop Only $999

Posted by on March 4, 2014 at 11:30 AM HP Envy Recline 23 Touchsmart Beats SE Desktop Only $999 has a great deal on the HP Envy Recline 23″ Touchsmart Beats SE SE all-in-one desktop for only $999.99, was $1299.99. If you have any rewards credits you can also use those to lower the price, and as a new customer, you can save another $15.

Of course I price compared this item for you, with other stores coming in at higher prices like Frontier PC, which sells this for $1073, Microsoft Store, which sells it for $1199 and NCIX, which sells it for 1057, but it is on back order. No one hits the under $1000 mark. And I don’t know about the rest of these stores, but also ships it for free, saving another potential cost.

Touchscreen technology has come such a long way. My mother-in-law has a touchscreen computer and loves it and I know that anyone who is currently in school would love it, having grown up on the swipe and go technologies. I’m still old school, but this still really intrigues me.

With a 23″ inch adjustable screen that is viewable from any angle, you can do so much with this machine. It has wireless capabilities so you can use it like a personal tablet to another, larger screen if you choose. But, if you choose to do what you need right on its display, it has stunning HD quality. The Beats sound system also makes you feel like the actors in the movie are in the room with you. Sweet, I’ll take one Channing Tatum please.

Most sales, it seems, focus on laptops, so I’m glad that HP has a sale on PCs, and some pretty good ones in their Envy lineup. There are three available, but we can’t link directly to them. You just need to follow that link up there and search for these models: H5P24AA HP Envy Desktop, H5P88AA Pheonix & H6U27AA Recline. It’ll probably work best to just search the model number (H6U27AA as opposed to H6U27AA Recline.)

The H6U27AA Recline is an all in one touch screen PC that, after our discount, is $1099.99. The H5P24AA HP Envy Desktop is $849.99 after our code. The beefiest computer here by far is the H5P88AA Pheonix. It’ll run you $1149.99 with our code. They will also all have free shipping with our discount!

MSI 17.3″ Gaming Notebook for $1600 & a FREE 50” TV @ Newegg Ultimate Black Friday Sale!

Posted by on November 29, 2013 at 2:00 AM

MSI 17.3 Gaming Notebook for $1600 & a FREE 50” TV @ Newegg Ultimate Black Friday Sale!

We recently got word in an email from that they will be offering a pretty hot deal on an MSI gaming laptop for the Black Friday weekend. The MSI GS70 2OD-229US Intel Core i7 4700HQ notebook is currently priced at $1600 plus $10 shipping – that’s an OK price for the notebook, but the clincher is that you get a free 50” LED LDTV!

When Newegg first emailed me, the price on this MSI notebook was due to be $159.99 (!) – Shawn spotted the deal and we thought it was amazing! But an email to Newegg confirmed that was sadly a typo.

A quick note on the specification of the notebook:

  • Intel Core i7 4700HQ(2.40GHz)
  • 12GB Memory 500GB HDD 128GB SSD
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M
  • 1920 x 1080
  • Windows 8

They’re classifying this as a gaming laptop, so if that’s what you are looking for, then consider this deal. I showed the spec to my other half and he was quite impressed.

We asked Newegg for more info on the TV itself but they weren’t able to give a lot – this is all they said, “It’s a 50” LED 1080p HDTV.” Even for a non-branded 50″ TV like that, you’d be talking about at least $600, so it’s quite a good free gift with purchase. UPDATE – the brand is Changhong.

We have no ideas of the quantities that are going to be available of this MSI laptop and TV combo bundle, so if you are interested, buy it when you can.

Lenovo Canada: Black Friday Sale on NOW: Up To 36% Off Laptops & Tablets

Posted by on November 26, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Lenovo Canada: Black Friday Sale on NOW: Up To 36% Off Laptops & Tablets

Lenovo Canada has just released its Black Friday list of doorbuster deals and there is up to 36% off to be had on laptops and tablets. The tricky part involving this sale is that there is a different coupon code available for each item and even more specifically, for each model. So be sure to check right below the price for the specific Lenovo eCoupon you need to use at checkout as it won’t be automatically applied.

Though there are loads of laptops and even a couple of tablets to choose from, the laptop that right away caught my attention is the IdeaPad Z510 on sale for $549 instead of its original price of $849 ($300 in savings).

In theory, this should be a ridiculous criteria with regards to picking a laptop but I won’t lie that its color: dark chocolate, definitely caught my attention and had me reading more into the laptop. What I discovered pleasantly surprised me as for its reduced priced, this 15.6″ laptop packs a good deal of punch for anyone on the hunt for a laptop that can achieve the basics (web browsing, email checking and watching videos) and potentially even more. While it probably wouldn’t be able to run a massive game like World Of Warcraft without any lag, it could however be used for ordinary games like those on Big Fish Games and Green Man Gaming — perfect for kids!

Tech-wise, it is powered by a 4th Generation Intel Core i5 processor with 3.10 GHz, Intel HD Graphics 4600 and runs Windows 8 in 64-bit with a 500GB hard drive.

Otherwise, if you’re in the market for a tablet, especially with the holidays right around the corner, then the IdeaTab A300 is definitely worth considering. Though similar to its IdeaTab A100 counterpart, it’s much more powerful for just $46.80 more. On sale for $178.62 (reg. $229), the A300 model boasts quad-core performance, fast connectivity, up to 7 hours of battery life and two cameras (front & back) — all within a 7″ HD display that is neither too big, nor too small for lightweight activities such as web surfing, listening to music and watching your favorite TV shows or movies.

On an even brighter note, free shipping is also available on everything!

This is a great deal on some good computers. You generally don’t see coupon codes like this for HP so take advantage of it while it lasts. On top of the $50 off you also get free shipping. It’s a great time too. Christmas is right around the corner and if your kids are anything like I was when I was a kid, they’d lose their mind for a new computer.

Of course you could get your kids a rubber ball and get yourself a laptop. That’s never a bad thing. And HP has been doing some really cool form factors things. They have touch PCs and laptops, laptops that flip and bend around and even some whose monitors pull right off to act as a tablet.

You cant use this on business PCs and it isn’t valid with any other deals.
