Acer 11.6 Touchscreen Chromebook Was $350 | Now $250 & Free Shipping @ (EXPIRED)

I often see families trying to find basic computers for the bare essentials in life like homework, Facebook, Twitter, and email. If your family needs a new computer on a low budget, then pick up the Acer 11.6″ touchscreen chromebook today only at Amazon Canada. Originally $349.99, this laptop is now on sale for $249.99.

This computer is perfect for the entire family. The Google based machine features a Chrome OS for easy computing without trying to navigate around Windows 10 (which I am loathing right now, by the way). While computers are not really our focus here at Bargainmoose, affordable items for the entire family is our goal and most families have at least one computer. Kids need to do research for assignments, check out the websites for their favourite shows, and keep in contact with their friends. Read the rest of this entry »

Microsoft: Dell Inspiron 15.6″ Touchscreen Signature Ed. Laptop Was $499 | Now $327

Posted by on July 3, 2015 at 2:30 PM

Microsoft: Dell Inspiron 15.6 Touchscreen Signature Ed. Laptop Was $499 | Now $327

Microsoft Canada has discounted this lovely little Dell Inspiron 15 i3543-2501BLK Signature Edition Laptop from $499 down to $327 with free shipping.

This is a respectable laptop for everyday use. The laptop comes with:

  • 15.6-inch (396.24 mm) HD touchscreen
  • Intel Core i3-5005U
  • 4GB memory
  • 1TB HDD

In fact, this unit is a bit above your normal ‘basic’ laptop. You receive a huge 1TB hard drive and the screen is actually a touchscreen, like a tablet screen. I love these little laptop / tablet cross-breeds as you get so used to moving things around with your fingers on a tablet and smart phone only to revert back to a mouse on your desktop. Now, you receive the best of both worlds. One reviewer said:

I received it yesterday. At this price, it is really an amazing machine. Everything works well now and the touch screen works very well. I like it!

This would be an excellent laptop for school, university, and just for playing around with at home. I could see this fulfilling most people’s needs for a laptop unless you run a business or work online for a living.

I would like to impart to you the importance if signature edition laptops. Most computers these days come with an enormous amount of bloatware. That is software that manufacturers load on to new computers. This bloatware can be up to 60 or so programs, often higher. Toshiba is one of the worst offenders, with Sony and Lenovo close behind. You cannot just factory restore your computer as they are making OS images that include the bloatware. Essentially, it re-installs when you reinstall the OS.

Bloatware is bad. It can slow down any computer to a snail’s pace – even computers with really fast processors. I and a dear friend of mine are learning that on his Lenovo with an i7 processor. Now, Signature Edition Laptops do not have ANY bloatware or third-party trial-ware on them. These are CLEAN computers. Given my very recent experience with bloatware, I do not think I would buy any other computer in the future except for a Microsoft Signature Edition (or an Apple).

I have heard that the warranty is with Microsoft since you are buying the computer from them. However, you can transfer the warranty to Dell at no cost (if you want to).

Best Buy Canada: Lenovo H50 Desktop Was $650 | Now $500 & Free Shipping

Posted by on June 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: Lenovo H50 Desktop Was $650 | Now $500 & Free Shipping

We have another wonderful desktop deal for you, and I like this deal even better than this HP. This fully loaded Lenovo desktop computer is on sale from $649.99, and is now on sale for $499.99 with free shipping.

This computer is a little bit better (in my opinion) to the previous HP deal, which was also a really great deal especcialy when you compared with HP’s website. Like the HP, this Lenovo comes fully loaded:

  • Processor: AMD A10-7800
  • Hard drive: 2TB HDD
  • Memory: 12GB RAM
  • Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R7 Integrated Graphics
  • Operating system: Windows 8.1

The processor is the lower end equivalent of an Intel i7. I love this sale. First, this computer will store all your family photos, home movies, music, and more without blinking an eye. This computer offers incredible amounts of space with a 2TB hard drive!

Speed isn’t an issue with 12GB RAM active memory. The graphics card is great for watching Youtube, movies, and more on your computer. For hard-core gamers this may be a bit under powered, but this makes an excellent family desktop computer. Children and adults alike can play computer games without lag due to the combination of good speed and a good graphics card.

As family computers go, just make a separate user account for each family member. This way, your children can customize their own desktop and have safe and secure places to store their homework and research without fear of someone else accidentally deleting it.

I think this desktop is the perfect workhorse for a home or office. To get the same stats in a laptop computer would cost you over double this price. I know laptops are amazing, but the extra price you pay for portability and small profile can eat into your budget. if your computer rarely moves, then consider buying a desktop instead. You can get better stats for less money.

I could not find this desktop with this configuration of stats many other places. (US) offers it for $510 USD (on sale from $600 USD). Other websites (like Newegg Canada) offer smaller configurations (8GB RAM, 1TB HD) for $550. From everything I found online, this is a great deal on a fully loaded desktop.

Best Buy Canada: HP Pavilion 500-539 Desktop Was $650 | Now $500 TODAY (EXPIRED)

Posted by on June 10, 2015 at 4:30 PM

Best Buy Canada: HP Pavilion 500 539 Desktop Was $650 | Now $500 TODAY (EXPIRED)

Today only, purchase the fully loaded HP Pavilion 500-539 desktop computer for $150 less than regular price. Originally $649.99, this HP desktop is now on sale for $499.99.

When price comparing, it is important to note those last three numbers in the computer’s code. There are at least three different versions of this desktop tower and all three have different specifications. This desktop is one of the higher end models and it features:

  • Processor: AMD A10-7800 with 12 compute cores
  • Hard drive: 1TB HDD
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R7 240
  • Operating system: Windows 8.1

I did some research on the processor as I am not as familiar with AMD as I am with Intel. The AMD A10-7800 is approximately equivalent with a lower end i7 processor. You are looking at a fast processor with enough memory for quick performance. The graphics card is good but not the best. As to be expected, it pales in comparison to the NVIDIA cards. However, it is still a good graphics card and gamers have tested it on graphic heavy games.

One reviewer said:

I got this PC for gaming among other things and it works great. I can play new games and old. It runs fast and it well worth the price. The first comment talked about how he couldn’t connect audio, but mine worked just fine. This is an excellent computer despite what the other comments say. Mine works just fine and I constantly use it because of how good it is

If you are looking for a fast, spacious desktop computer, then you cannot do better than this model. In fact, the price discount on Best Buy Canada sort of tricks you. The exact same computer sold from HP Store themselves actually costs $739.99.

I checked back through some internet records and found this desktop computer on sale as low as $600 previously. However, I have never seen it down at this price before. For the amazing processor speed, huge hard drive, and competitive graphics card… this is an absolute steal.  The price is $240 cheaper than the price that the manufacturer sells this desktop for.

As per usual, receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more, thus this desktop will ship for free.

This is a one-day deal! Purchase this desktop before the deal expires tonight.

Bonus $25 Gift Card with HP Stream 11″ or 13″ Laptop @ Microsoft Canada

Posted by on June 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM

Bonus $25 Gift Card with HP Stream 11 or 13 Laptop @ Microsoft Canada

Are you looking for an inexpensive laptop to replace your current out-modded model? Purchase the HP Stream 11 for just $249.99 and receive a free $25 Microsoft Gift Card. The same offer is available on the 13″ model that retails for $289.99. Receive free shipping on all orders.

The 11″ HP Stream laptop comes in two colour options: Magenta or Blue. Both the HP Stream signature edition laptops come with 11.6-inch (294.64-millimeter) HD displays, Intel Celeron N2840 processors, 2GB of memory with 32GB eMMC built in hard drive and 1TB of OneDrive online storage. These little laptops are the perfect portable devices with 8.5 hours of battery life. You could run this laptop almost all day on just battery. These little 11″ HP Stream laptops retail for $249, but if you are a student, you can purchase one for just $224.10. You also receive a free $25 Microsoft gift card.

You can also purchase a 13″ version if you need a larger screen size. The HP Stream 13-c078nr Signature Edition Laptop (magenta) is already out of stock but you can still purchase the HP Stream 13-c077nr Signature Edition Laptop in blue. The 13″ HP Stream retails for $289 but you can get it for just $260.10 if you are a student. Either way, you will receive that free $25 Microsoft gift card with your purchase. Like the 11″ model, this 13″ model features:

  • Intel Celeron N2840 processor
  • 2GB memory
  • 32GB eMMC hard drive

However, this model has a larger screen but a smaller battery life. The 13″ laptop promises over 7.5 hours, which is one hour shorter than the 11″ model. I am not sure I could go down to a 11″ model as I spend many hours per day on my computer. One reviewer said:

This laptop is great for anyone looking for a no frills computer that just gets the job done. It can handle day to day tasks like office, browsing and video very well. The looks and building are better than expected at this price range. Furthermore, Microsoft signature edition products come with no trialware or junk which is a bonus.

First, both the 11″ and 13″ laptops are a good price. I found an ASUS 11″ laptop with approximately the same configuration (slightly different processor but everything else was the same) for the same price – but it did not qualify for a free $25 gift card. These HP Stream models are priced competitively within the current market. With a free gift card, worth up to 10% the computer’s price, this is a pretty good deal on a base model laptop.

Save $150 on the Dell Inspiron 15 Signature Edition Laptop: Now $449 (or $404?) & Free Shipping @ Microsoft Store

Posted by on May 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM

Save $150 on the Dell Inspiron 15 Signature Edition Laptop: Now $449 (or $404?) & Free Shipping @ Microsoft Store

In the past, the deals at the Microsoft store never really seemed to grab me. But over the last 6 months or so, I’ve noticed that they’ve really been pushing out some good deals – beating the prices of the competition, not to mention the free shipping with every item. And just now, there’s a rather nice deal on an entry-level laptop, it’s the Dell Inspiron 15 Signature Edition laptop. You’re getting a saving of $150, bringing it down to only $449 for this budget laptop.

And as far as I know, you can get an extra 10% off the price if you are a student. If you shop through Microsoft’s education store here, you should be able to get this item for only $404. I cannot confirm this as I’m not a student myself and cannot log in to see that particular price. If you are a student and taking advantage of this deal, let us know in the comments below if it works.

A really brief specification of this laptop is as follows:

  • 6-inch (396.24-millimeter) HD touchscreen
  • Intel Core i5-5200U
  • 8GB memory/1TB HDD

Now, I know a bit about computers; knowledge which is all gleaned by a geeky sort of osmosis from current and past partners. From what I can see, the above laptop isn’t immensely powerful and it’s not going to run the latest games or amazing 3D modelling software with ease. However, it’s a basic model for simple home use. If you want a new laptop for doing a bit of office work, browsing the internet, maybe watching movies on Netflix, then this is just the ticket.

It has that 1TB hard drive which they say is “loads of storage.” In my opinion, it’s not loads. But this doesn’t have to affect us nowadays with being able to store anything in the cloud, on the likes of Dropbox. I have thousands of digital photos and home videos on my computer which take up a lot of space… but I also have cloud storage subscriptions and external hard drives, so a small hard drive isn’t terrible, these days.

This Dell Inspiron 15 Signature Edition laptop also comes with a 5-in-1 card reader built-in. I find these incredibly handy to have on such a device. I can just slot the SD card from my digital SLR straight in and copy and paste photos with ease.

As for a price comparison, it’s really difficult to do easily because of the slightly differing specifications across the board – so we can’t compare like-for-like. The Dell Inspiron range actually starts at $600 on the Dell site itself, or this one at Best Buy which is $549.99 (though it’s a fairly different processor, a bit slower).

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: 40% Off $159+

Posted by on May 14, 2015 at 11:30 AM

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: 40% Off $159+

Dell Refurnished is back with this Victoria Day long weekend with a new promotion: receive 40% off orders of $159 or more. Orders under this minimum will still receive 25% off.

Click here to shop @ Dell Refurbished Canada now

  • Coupon Code: 40VICDAY15
  • Discount: 40% off
  • Expiry: 18th May 2015

This coupon combines with Dell Hot Deal items for the best discounts possible on office quality refurbished computers, monitors, accessories, and more.

I know I am totally out of my depth with these computers – as they are designed to be work stations and do not use the same hardware as regular computers. However, I always think bigger stats are better. I have been thinking about speed lately – mainly because my computer is deathly slow. The OptiPlex 990 Core i5 Quad 3.30 (i5-2500) is built for speed. It comes with an i5 processor with up to 3.30 Ghz of processing speed. The 250 GB hard drive and 4 GB RAM will certainly store a decent amount of information, but that is not what this desktop is built for. Originally $609, the desktop is on sale for $517. After coupon, this desktop comes down to $310.20.

Everyone likes a big monitor when they are working for long hours at a computer. Several people I know prefer two monitors so they can have multiple documents open – at a size they can read – at the same time.

There are plenty of Dell Professional Series P2012H 20-inch Flat Panel Monitors available right now, over 20 I believe. These monitors make an excellent edition to your current office monitor or a great replacement monitor if yours is obsolete. Originally $129, they are in the hot deals section for just $109 each. Now, if you just purchase one, you are going to pay $81.75. However, if you purchase two, then you will pay just $65.40 each as your discount goes from 25% up to 40%. You will need to add two monitors individually as each has a different serial number.

Monitors this size can easily cost $100+ new so this is a good way to pick up bulk monitors for a very cheap price.

Shipping depends upon what you are purchasing and where you are shipping. There is no set fee and I could not find out if they have a minimum for free shipping. I know for sure that anything in this post would still require shipping paid for its delivery.

Dell Canada: Free Upgrades Desktop & Laptop Sale

Posted by on May 12, 2015 at 8:00 AM

Dell Canada: Free Upgrades Desktop & Laptop Sale

Dell Canada has a sale that greatly interests me. Right now they are offering free upgrades for the same price (and sometimes lower) than the base computer. These upgrades are free and fantastic if you like faster processors, better graphics cards, and touch screens without paying extra for them.

This kind of sale is cool. Many of these upgrades would cost substantially more (a couple hundred dollars). Now, the sale is laid out so that the first product in the pair is the normal product and the second product is the same item with a free upgrade. The price is either the same or cheaper.

My first example is their first deal! The Inspiron 15 5000 Series Non-Touch usually retails for $729.99. Instead of that base mode, purchase the Inspiron 15 5000 Series Touch that was $888.99 and is now $699.99. The only difference between the two models is the free upgrade: a touch screen. With this deal, you also save an extra $30. Your laptop comes with an i5 processor, 8 GB of memory, and a 1TB hard drive.

In the sale, I also found a great deal on a desktop. This Inspiron Desktop retails for $669.99. It comes with an i5 processor, 8 GB of memory, and a 1TB hard drive. Purchase the upgraded Inspiron Desktop with 12GB of memory (instead of 8GB) for faster processing. This desktop still just costs $669.99.

The Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 laptop truly has it all. At $949.99, it is a convertible laptop that switches between tablet and laptop mode: see image above. For truly mesmerizing speed, purchase the upgraded Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 laptop with an i7 processor (instead of i5) for $949.99. This upgrade is valued at $139 and will be well worth your money. Once you have worked on an i7 processor, it is very hard to go back to a regular processor.

There are several Alienware models included the sale as well. I am a big fan of Alienware, but it is really only necessary for gamers who play demanding games that require speed and amazing graphics. Tetris does not count. These other deals give you nice bonus features like memory, speed, and more for the same price as the base models.

With the Dell Advantage program, Dell customers receive 5% back on purchases of $100 or more. This takes the form of a Dell ePromotional card. You can then use the code on this card against your next purchase. All items ship free from Dell.

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: Extra 50% Off Precision Workstations

Posted by on March 25, 2015 at 2:38 PM

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: Extra 50% Off Precision Workstations

Dell Refurbished has a rather hefty coupon code available right now. Receive 50% off all Precision Workstations and 40% off anything else on the Dell Refurbished website.

Click here to shop Precision Workstations @ Dell Refurbished now

  • Coupon Code: SPRING15
  • Discount: 50% off Precision Workstations, 40% off everything else
  • Expiry: 27th March 2015

Refurbished Dell units come with a 100-day warranty. There may have some small cosmetic marks, but the machines themselves have been fully refurbished into working condition. Each computer is graded by Dell’s cosmetic grading system that you can check out here. This coupon is a good way to get a deal on a new desktop or laptop computer. You can combine this coupon with the deal of the day offers for additional savings, but they are selling out quickly.

I picked out a system at random to test. This Precision T3500 Xeon Dual Core 2.53 (W3505) has a cosmetic grade of A. It comes with a fast 2.53 GHz processor, but fairly small hard drive and RAM. Originally $509, you can score this computer for just $254.50.

When it comes to a big coupon like this, I want the biggest machine I can get my hands on. This Precision T5500 Xeon Quad Core 2.93 (X5647) desktop has a 2.93 GHz processor (fast!) and comes with a 2TB hard drive. While 4GB of RAM is nothing impressive, RAM is pretty cheap to buy. This huge system was $859 but comes down to $429.50 after coupon.

Dell Refurbished Coupon Code: Extra 50% Off Precision Workstations

Unfortunately, there are no Precision Laptops in stock right now. If you have your heart set on a laptop, you can still receive 40% off other laptops. This Latitude E6420 Core i5 2.60 (i5-2540M) is my pick out of all the laptops. It comes with an i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500 GB hard drive. Originally $579, it is now on sale for $521. After coupon code, pay just $312.16.

There are many laptops to choose from but most have rather small hard drives. Still, for a couple hundred dollars, one of these laptops would make a great little computer for using Facebook, checking your email, and watching YouTube videos.

Shipping depends upon what you are buying and where it is going. On average, my orders cost $28 – $30 and I live in one of the more expensive places to ship: Vancouver Island.

For this and future Dell Refurbished coupon codes, please visit our forum. We try to keep the forum updated for you with all sorts of wonderful coupon codes.
