    eBay Bucks

Posted by Avigayil on April 29, 2011 at 10:00 PM

    eBay Bucks

eBay has a new cashback program called ‘eBay bucks’ whenever you see the ‘bucks’ symbol on something, it means that you qualify for 2% back. That 2% will come back in the form of an eBay certificate sent to you every 3 months for you to spend on eBay. It is an easy way to save more money when shopping on eBay.

I did some casual browsing and right now there doesn’t seem to be a massive amount of qualifying purchases. So I cheated and went back to the Brand Outlet where I knew I would get some action. I looked up my favourite mini Dyson for comparison: a refurbished Dyson DC31 selling for $149.99 CAN. It tells you right on the auction that you would receive approx. $3.16 US back in eBay Bucks if you bought this. Which equals around 2%. I know it isn’t tons, but for coupon clippers like me, it is pretty cool and can add up over time.

Thanks eBay: you have managed to impress me, for a brief moment!

Ebay Cashback: Save A Bit More Cash On Your Ebay Canada Purchases

Ebay Cashback: Save A Bit More Cash On Your Ebay Canada Purchases

As this is a bargain-hunters blog, I’m sure many of you are also Ebay addicts. You might be interested to hear that you can get a little bit of extra Ebay cashback if you’re buying anything there.

    The deal is this:

Dealguild Canada, the cashback website, offer a 26% cashback amount, based on the amount of ebay’s revenue. Obviously, it doesn’t mean 26% cashback on the amount you spend, but 26% of eBay’s revenue which will be a substantially smaller amount.

Depending on what you buy, the selling fees (and therefore ebay’s revenue) may differ. There’s a guide here if you are interested in knowing more about the various fees for various auctions.

Obviously 26% of the ebay revenue on your purchase isn’t amazingly huge, but if you are a regular ebay shopper, then I’m sure those pennies would really add up.

To finish with a bit of light-hearted entertainment, have you heard Weird Al Yankovic’s “Ebay” song or read XKCD?

Skype: Get 16% Free Cashback On Your Call Credit! (TIP)

Posted by Anna on June 27, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Skype: Get 16% Free Cashback On Your Call Credit! (TIP)

Here’s a tip for the Skype users. If you pay for Skype call credit or Skype subscriptions, you can save yourself a whopping 16.25% on those costs!! Dealguild Canada offers 16.25% cashback on any Skype purchases. You can read a bit more about it on the Dealguild site.

I have used this service a few times now. The cashback tracks in within a few days, and you can claim it once it is in your account, usually within a few months. It’s great because I’d be buying the Skype credit anyway, so getting 16% back is a real bonus! There are no charges or anything, you get the full 16% as cashback.

I make calls from my computer quite often, and Skype is really cheap to call other countries. Sometimes I have to call Europe or Australia because of my work, and the calls hardly cost anything! Every so often, I top up my Skype account with a few bucks, and always make sure I go through Dealguild first.

    Thanks re-ality!

Roombas: Not Just For Cat Rides

Posted by Anna on June 3, 2009 at 1:44 PM

Roombas: Not Just For Cat Rides

It’s a common misconception that a roomba is some sort of pleasure-vehicle for cats. You might be interested to hear that a Roomba also vacuums the floor. Who’d have thunk it!?

Dell.ca have a great offer on the Roomba right now. The dealio is that you can buy the red roomba for only $159.99 from Dell Canada, including free shipping. This is a saving of $90 on the regular roomba price! Don’t foget you can get a bit of free cashback too.

I’d like to get a roomba, but I think my apartment is too small to really justify it. Plus, the kitchen is the only room without carpet, and I don’t know how well they do on carpeted floors. I’m just a geek, I want every techie gadget I can get my grubby little hands on!

Youtube is coming down with kitty-riding roombas. And how about this cool time lapsed pic of a roombas path?

    Dell Canada Mothers Day Deals!

Posted by Anna on May 7, 2009 at 12:53 PM

Dell are offering loads of items on special offer for Mother’s Day. Most of them seem to be pink, but don’t let that put you off!!

There are quite a lot of items to choose from, and they’re not necessarily Mother’s Day gifts. Some are just things you could treat yourself with!

    Thoughts:

The 7” ViewSonic digital picture frame looks like a good idea (pictured  right)!

I don’t actually own one of these yet… one of the few gadgets that is not yet in my home! This is one item that I think would be excellent for a Mother’s Day gift. You could load it up with great pics of the family, kids, grandkids, etc. Then wrap it and give it to mom as a present.Dell Canada Mothers Day Deals!

How about a Roomba (pictured left)? Getting mom a vacuum cleaner for Mother’s Day always seems a little bit sexist… but in the case of the Roomba, I think it’s a really good idea! Most people nowadays have tiles or hardwood floors, and the Roomba is excellent on these.

It’s funny that if you check on youtube, the Roomba seems to be utilised more as a cat vehicle than a vacuum cleaner! Do you have a Roomba, do you like it?

Is your mom technically savvy? How about that Sony ebook reader? (pictured below right) Well, actually, forget about mom, I recommend you get this one yourself. This is the exact same model that I own, same color and everything. I bought it a few months ago, and haven’t looked back!Dell Canada Mothers Day Deals!

I managed to get a hold of about 7GB of sci-fi ebooks, and have them saved on my PC. I can then transfer a few at a time onto the reader, and read them at my leisure. People always seem funny when I show them my Sony reader. They think that they wouldn’t like it, as they’d miss the feel of a real book. But the Sony ebook reader is so great, that I feel myself reaching to the top corner to manually turn the page! Right now, I’m reading “Twilight” and it’s a real digital page turner!

EVERYTHING HAS FREE SHIPPING! There’s possibly free cashback @ Dealguild too.

Entertainment Book For $15! (Free Restaurant Coupons)

Posted by Anna on May 1, 2009 at 7:53 PM

The May deal is up and running for The Canadian Entertainment Book! You can purchase your copy for only $14.99, and that includes free shipping!

If you haven’t heard of Entertainment books, I’ll tell you a wee bit about them. You can buy an entertainment book for specific cities, e.g. Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, etc. Inside the coupon book, you will find a load of special offers, and restaurant coupons, such as buy 1 get 1 free offers, or percentage discounts.

Entertainment Book For $15! (Free Restaurant Coupons)

On their website, you can check out the offers in the chosen city, see if there are any restaurants you enjoy eating at. As well as deals on eating out in the coupon books, there are also attraction coupons and travel discounts.

I reckon that even if you only use the Entertainment Book once or twice, it will have paid for itself with the amount you save on eating out!

A friend of mine bought this coupon book last month, and has used it a few times in his city. He states it has MORE than paid for itself, so it’s well worth the fifteen bucks!! I recommend you think about how often you eat out, and work out if it is worth buying the discount book. Even if you only eat out once a month, then it would still be worth it.

One point to note is that it goes down in price a dollar or two every month, as the coupon book only lasts until December this year.

Remember, if you are a DealGuild member, you can also save yourself $4 on this deal with free cashback!

Dell: 27” Ultrasharp Monitor For $549! (And More)

Another hot deal from Dell in todays Days of business deals! Dell Canada are selling the Dell UltraSharp 2709W 27-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor for only $549 with free shipping too! It’s normally $999, so that’s a saving of $450!

Click here to buy this 27” monitor @ Dell Canada. (See deal in right sidebar)

Dell: 27” Ultrasharp Monitor For $549! (And More)

    A note on the specification:

    • 27″ Widescreen monitor
    • Max Resolution 1920 x 1200
    • Response Time 6 ms
    • Signal Input HDMI, DVI-D, VGA
    • Image Brightness 450 cd/m2
    • Image Contrast Ratio 3000:1 (dynamic)
    • USB Hub, 9-in-2 card reader
    • 3 year warranty

I actually have the 24” older model of this monitor and it is excellent. It’s excellent for gaming, watching movies, anything really. I really want to buy this but my 24” screen works perfectly well so it’s hard to justify the expenditure for a mere 3” more of screen real estate.

There are some other good offers too in today’s deal, so check them out!

    P.S. Up to 5% cashback @ Dealguild.com.

TODAY ONLY: Dell UltraSharp 22” Widescreen Monitor – $189.99 & Free Shipping!

Posted by Anna on April 15, 2009 at 5:58 AM

(NOW EXPIRED) This is a really excellent bargain if you need a new screen for your desktop PC! The monitor will be on special offer today only, as it is part of the Dell 10 Days of Deals on their business site.

If the direct link doesn’t work for the product, you’ll have to go to the small business section via the links at the top, and click the banner for their daily deals.

The Dell UltraSharp 2209WA monitor is $369.99 on their regular site, so $189.99 and free shipping is absolutely fantastic!

I’ll paste in a few bits of the specification for your reference:TODAY ONLY: Dell UltraSharp 22” Widescreen Monitor $189.99 & Free Shipping!

    • 1680 x 1050 resolution in widescreen format
    • 4 USB 2.0 ports, VGA and DVI-D
    • 6ms response time
    • 300cd/m2 luminance (brightness)
    • 3 year warranty
    • Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 3000:1

In my opinion, this monitor could cope with anything you could throw at it, be it office work, gaming, movies etc. The 4 USB ports are so handy too – we have so many little devices that need plugged in nowadays! I have my graphics tablet, my ebook reader, my thumb drive, my mp3 player… all running on USB!

I actually have a 24” Dell Ultrasharp monitor, a slightly older model, which I bought a few years ago when it was many times this price!! It’s a really excellent monitor, top class. One really interesting feature is the ability to rotate the screen by 90 degrees. If I am working on long Microsoft word files, I just swivel the monitor round and it makes it so much easier to work!

P.S. Dealguild Canada offer up to 5% cashback on Dell purchases.

    Sweet 20” Acer Monitor For $142.49 @ Buy.com Canada

Posted by Anna on April 12, 2009 at 1:06 PM

Do you need a little extra screen real estate? Would you like to see more when sniping on eBay for those last minute bargains? Would you like to have to scroll down less when reviewing your friends’ statuses on Facebook? If you’re still using that old 14” CRT screen, I’m LOLing at you! Get an LCD monitor! It’s about time! Buy.com have a pretty good deal on this 20” Acer Widescreen monitor.

When you click through to the site and search for “X203H” you will see that it is priced at $149.99. But everything added to your cart will be reduced by 5% – making this monitor only $142.49. Here’s a sweetener too – free shipping! Can’t say fairer than that!

Here’s a little bit of the specification to whet your appetite:Sweet 20” Acer Monitor For $142.49 @ Buy.com Canada

    • Screen size: 20″
    • Max Resolution: 1600 x 900
    • Brightness: 300 cd/m²
    • Maximum Response Time: 5ms
    • Ports: VGA & DVI
    • Warranty: 3 year

In my humble opinion, that’s a pretty good spec. It would be a good all-round monitor, for basic office work, home entertainment, even gaming. I like how it has a 3 year warranty, that’s a bit better than your standard 1 year. I’ve never owned an Acer screen, but I’ve heard pretty good things about the brand. If you’re just using a 14” or 15” screen right now, the jump up to a 20” is quite substantial – makes things a lot easier to do when you’re working on the computer.

If you’d like to check out some customer ratings and comments, most users gave this monitor an excellent rating over on NewEgg.ca.

And for those of you who like getting something for nothing, use Dealguild Canada for 2% cashback on your Buy.com buys!
