Shark Easy Sew Sewing Machine For $80 @ Canadian Tire

Posted by on December 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM

Shark Easy Sew Sewing Machine For $80 @ Canadian Tire

This deal is from the current issue of the Canadian Tire flyer. The Shark Easy Sew 32 Stitch Sewing Machine is regularly $159.99, but it is half price this week only. It’s now $79.99.

You’ll have to buy this one in-store though, cannot purchase online at Canadian Tire (sadly)!

I laughed when I saw the name of this sewing machine – The Shark. It does look a bit like a shark! I don’t know much about sewing machines in general, but it could be a good one for a beginner. Reviews are mixed though, with some people saying that this sewing machine is great, and others saying that it is horrible. You decide!

I was talking about sewing with some friends the other day – doesn’t that sound like an interesting conversation! But seriously, I was commenting on how people are really getting back into sewing, knitting and crafts, with the way things are in the current worldwide recession. Instead of just throwing out clothes that are slightly worn or damaged, people are finding new and interesting ways to mend them, or tailor the clothes to their individual personalities. On Etsy, I see a lot of people doing this kind of thing and selling them on for a bit of a profit.

Apparently sales of dewing machines are really increasing all over the world!

It reminds me to tell you guys about a certain Canadian store – Bargainmooser Petey recently dropped me an email about a store he found – grabascab. They sell patches which can go on kids clothing. You don’t need to sew them though, they are sticker patches.

Canadian Tire Scratch And Save Event

Posted by on October 21, 2010 at 6:00 PM

Canadian Tire Scratch And Save Event

Starting tomorrow, Friday the 22nd of October 2010, Canadian Tire is having one of their “scratch and save” events, over the weekend!

You will be able to find scratch card along with this week’s flyer, if you were lucky enough to get it through your mailbox. Alternatively, you can ask for one in-store and it’s likely they will give you one then.

The scratch and save event at Canadian Tire means a discount of at least $5. There are also $10, $25, $50 and $5000 gift cards too! You must spend at least the amount on the scratch card. So if it is a $25 prize, your order must be $25 or more.

I’ve heard stories of people going out a raiding dumpsters, trying to get as many of these coupons as possible… I’ve never done that!

Canadian Tire: Clearance Days – Save up to 80%

Posted by on September 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM

Canadian Tire: Clearance Days Save up to 80%

Unfortunately Canadian Tire does not have an online store, but if you live anywhere near one they are really worth checking out right now. Currently they are having their clearance days, with savings up to 80%!

To give you some idea on the deals going on take a looksie:

To see your local weekly deals check out your local flyer.

I really wish you could buy online with Canadian Tire. They just seem so behind the times when it comes to not allowing online shopping! They have some excellent kitchen equipment, bakeware, some decent office furniture, etc. but people with busy lives like the ease of shopping from home! I just don’t understand why they haven’t made that step to allow online purchases.

Canadian Tire: 50% Off Fitness & 60% Off Storage

Posted by on January 3, 2010 at 3:00 PM

I just spotted a few deals in the recent flyer from Canadian Tire, which might be useful to some of you.

You can view the flyer online, but you will need to purchase the items in-store.

Firstly, there is a sale on the fitness equipment, specifically the treadmills and elliptical trainers. You can save 50% and more!

Now, as it is the new year, I’m sure a few of you have made resolutions to lose weight and/or get fit, so this might be an idea. Instead of paying for an expensive gym membership, or going on a silly diet, how about buying your own home equipment?

While I think it’s a good idea in principle, I know that some people buy these things, use them a few times and then never step on them again – so have a good think if you want to spend a lot of money on fitness equipment, even if it is in the 50% sale.

Secondly, there’s a 60% sale on storage and home organization. I’m going to have a good look through this one. I’ve just started spring cleaning some of the rooms in my house, and I plan on moving bedrooms too. I need some more storage for some rooms – some bookshelves, wardrobes, etc, so I’ll be seeing if there are any decent bargains for me!

Canadian Tire: Up To $300 Free Gift Cards On Outdoor Furniture!

Posted by on May 10, 2009 at 6:28 PM

Spring is here, and summer is well on the way, and it’s brightening up my moods! A little bit of sunlight never hurt anyone. Well, except Dracula.

If you fancy some new outdoor furniture to spruce up your patio, check out this deal from good old Canadian Tire. If you buy some new patio furniture there, they will reward you with some free gift cards for future purchases.

Canadian Tire: Up To $300 Free Gift Cards On Outdoor Furniture!

    Here is the breakdown:

    • Spend $299.99-399.99 & receive $75
    • Spend $400-499.99 & receive $100
    • Spend $500-699.99 & receive $150
    • Spend $700-899.99 & receive $200
    • Spend $900 or more & receive $300

As you can see, the deal does not apply to every single piece of garden furniture, just certain collections. You must make your purchases before the 22nd of May 2009, and send in the mail in rebate before the 22nd of June 2009. Pretty nifty offer if you need some new furniture anyway!

Have a browse on the website for some bargains – simply stick the name of the range in the search box. Some examples right now:

This 5-Pc Kingsley Conversational Set is only $249.99 (search for 88-1229-4). I have pictured it to the top right. If you bought that, you’d get a $75 Canadian Tire gift card for your troubles. Alternatively, you could mix and match various pieces on special offer. For example, the Kingsley Full Cushion Chair (search for 88-1219-8) is priced at only $31.50. If you were to buy a set of 4 or 6 of those, you could buy a little table separately. I have pictured this patio chair to the left. Looks comfy!

Cheap Gas @ Canadian Tire GasBar!

Posted by on March 30, 2009 at 12:32 PM

Cheap Gas @ Canadian Tire GasBar!

If you live near a Canadian Tire gasbar, here’s a tip on how to save a few percent on your fuel costs. Firstly, create an account at the Canadian cashback site, Dealguild.com. Use it to make gift card purchases through Canadian Tire. For all your online Canadian Tire purchases, you get 3.5% cashback.

You can buy the gift cards in denominations of $10, $25, $50 and $100. Once you receive the gift cards in the mail, take them to your local Canadian Tire Gas Bar and use them to buy gas! The gift cards don’t have expiry dates, so you don’t have to worry about using them up before a certain date. They’re also delivered for free, so you don’t have to worry about shipping costs at all. Cheap Gas @ Canadian Tire GasBar!

Additionally, you get Canadian Tire money every time you fill up your tank, so this could mean an extra 10-40 cents, depending on how much you buy. Another point to note is that if you use a cashback credit card for your purchases, you will also get the bonus cashback on it!

I know a few % isn’t much, but it really does add up! For example, if you spend $2000 a year on fuel, saving 3.5% means an extra $70 in your pocket. While it’s not huge, it’s better than nothing!

I don’t drive very much at all, but if you are in a 2 car family, this deal could really save you quite a few bucks.

Canadian Tire: Free $10 Promo Cards!

Posted by on March 26, 2009 at 10:16 AM

Canadian Tire: Free $10 Promo Cards!

This is a special one day only deal for you Canadian Tire shoppers! On the 28th of March only, if you spend $50 in-store @ CanadianTire, you’ll get a free $10 gift card!

This deal was spotted in a local paper, so I really don’t have a lot more info on it. This is all I know:

Total purchase must be $50 or more before taxes, excluding gift cards, auto service labour, Marks Work Wearhouse and other select merchandise. See in-store for details. Promo card must be used by April 4, 2009. Offer valid only at participating Canadian Tire retail stores.

If you were thinking of forking out $50 or more for a few bits and bobs, then March 28th 2009 would be a good day to do so!

A guy I know calls it “Canadian Crap.” I have to say that I disagree, you can sometimes get great bargains there! I don’t know about their auto maintenance though, I have heard pretty bad stories about that aspect.

    Bicycles And Bargains!

Posted by on March 19, 2009 at 10:35 AM

Sale sale sale! Good old Canadian Tire seems to be having a bit of a clearance sale on their Raleigh bicycles. They’re advertising 40% – 60% off! Just go to the Canadian Tire website to view their offers – enter “Raleigh” in the search box to see all available bicycle deals. I sorted by prices low to high, and the first bike I saw was a boys Raleigh Big Horn (20”), for only $95.99. That’s only discounted by 20% though, so there may be better deals.

    Bicycles And Bargains!

The “Raleigh Gator Mountain Bike” is half price – it’s only $114.99 (the yellow bike pictured to the right)! It gets good ratings on Canadian Tire too, with comments such as “I wasnt sure about the compression forks but the bike rides great and looks good too.”

Or if you want a more girly bike, the “Raleigh Tess Bike” is also half price, it’s $199.99, down from $399.99. You can see it on the image to the right, the pink bike. However, have a read of the ratings on that one, it doesn’t seem to score quite a well as the last bicycle.

If you want to be really crafty, you can purchase gift cards online and get yourself 3.5% dealguild cashback. Then use these gift cards in-store to buy your bike, as you cannot buy products online from Canadian Tire.

I still remember getting my first bicycle. I think I was about 7 or 8 years old, when I saw a suspicious protrusion hiding under the stairs, a few days before Christmas. It was some tatty old blue bike, hidden under a blanket. I never really thought anything more of it… until I received it on Christmas morning, but it looked brand spanking new! My dad had tuned it up, given it a red paint job, put a few stickers on it… etc. Apparently he’d picked it up for next to nothing, and fixed it up for me. We were a pretty poor family, so even this fixed up bike seemed like a luxury!

    Deal expires 20th March 2009!
