Great Scott! Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy (Blu ray) Was $65 Now $19 @ Amazon.ca (EXPIRED)

Amazon slashed prices today on the classic Back to the Future 25th Anniversary trilogy. This Blu-ray set was $65 and is now only $19. Free shipping is available if you add another item to your cart to reach the minimum order of $25.

If you are a movie buff, it is a great time to catch up on some of your favourite films. Yesterday alone we saw Dumbo go on deep discount and went quick. Then Redbox is giving you a free rental for new customers. Then we saw the list for the Cineplex Family Favourites on Saturday mornings that looks pretty awesome. Hello Muppets!

Today’s deal is for a movie buff with a little more discriminating taste. This quality film is for a person who has a taste for adventure and bad corny jokes. Back to the Future is on sale in the full Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray and is a great cult classic film. This creative and imaginative comedy will be a great addition to your collection. I personally feel this is also a great movie to share with older kids and teenagers for a fun movie night. It is also a fun movie treat to invite a few friends over to watch and have an 80s themed evening. I can see the theme party now.

I suspect part of the reason this series is on sale today is because of the time travel that runs through the movie and it is New Years after all. Here is the 20-second version of these films. In the first film, Marty (an American teen in the 80’s) travels back in time with the help of Doc to his parents era and changes time including the moment his parents meet. In the second film, Marty McFly and Doc travel forward to 2015 to fix an issue in the future, but discover upon their return someone else has tampered with time. In the third, Marty must travel back into 1885 to rescue Doc from a premature Wild-West themed end. You may notice a few differences from the year 2015 Marty experiences and the one we have now. Most who truly love the films will agree that the first and third films are the highlight of this series.

There are extra special features included with this special edition set. One of the notes that keeps being made is that there is an aspect ratio issue with the original Blu-ray version of this trilogy. They have corrected those issues in this latest edition so you can enjoy the film in its original hilariousness.

Looking at the prices floating around the rest of the web, Amazon has this one hands down.

  • $48.11 @ Staples.ca
  • $48.99 @ Future Shop
  • $49.97 @ Walmart- Regular Edition
  • $51.99 @ Best Buy.ca- Regular Edition

Here is one reviewer who agrees that the whole house including her teenager loved these films despite the middle film not pulling its weight in the series.

I ordered this trilogy set because my teenage daughters had never seen “Back to the Future” and we love Michael J. Fox. He is Canadian, you know!! The whole idea of being able to go back to our parents’ day and even further is so exciting. Now that we live so close to 2015, it is easy to see the writers went a little too far-out in their view of the future and that’s what made the beginning of the 2nd movie a bit disappointing. Having said that, keep watching – it gets better. We absolutely loved this trilogy!

Here is another tip, Bargainmoosers. Since the difference between free shipping on this item is low you may want to check out Amazon’s Add-on program. Items that they would not otherwise be able to ship at a low cost can be added on to your order.  Most of these items are household items available at a great low price and will help you hit the minimum of $25 to qualify for Super Saver Shipping. If you choose not to add something else on to your order, shipping seems minimal. Amazon was quoting me only $2 in shipping to ship to Quebec.

This is another one disc set you may want to grab quickly so you don’t miss out. With over 300 reviews on this item I suspect many people may have their eyes on this disc set.

Bargainmoosers what’s your favourite 80’s film?

Amazon Canada: Harry Potter Hogwarts Collection Was $293| Now $77 (EXPIRED)

Amazon Canada: Harry Potter Hogwarts Collection Was $293| Now $77 (EXPIRED)

Consider this your personal owl mail. The ultimate Hogwarts Collection that includes Blu-Ray, Dvd and Ultraviolet is 74% off. You pay $77 and it includes free shipping. This collector set was $293. Amazon is giving us a treat just in time for Christmas and Boxing Day.

This collection is massive  for all of you Harry Potter fans. This comprehensive 31-disk set includes all eight Harry Potter movies in blu-ray, DVD and ultraviolet format. You can immersive yourself in the Harry Potter world with over 37 hours of special features. That’s a day and a half straight of special features if you were to watch them back to back. That does not include the time to watch the films in a true movie marathon folks.

Included also is the Creating the World of Harry Potter documentary. This is an 8 part series that is a comprehensive look at almost every detail in the films.

The movies are fantastic to own to watch over again and you can with this set. This collection is really all about the special features. It gives Harry Potter fans more insights into the making of the films and an outlet to immersive themselves in all of the amazing details. In reality though I personally feel the storyline is fantastic but it is the details of the Harry Potter world that truly make it magical. They did forget to tell us what Daniel Radcliffe ate every day between takes while the movies were filming so you might perhaps be disappointed if you wanted that level of detail. Seriously it is a detailed special edition.

Fans of the movies and books alike are digging this intensive set and are talking about it. 72 people have taken time out of their day to tell us what they think and it is still at almost 5 stars. Here is one of the best reviews.

This was exactly what I was looking for! I’m a huge fan of the Harry Potter Saga both the books and the movies. I was really interested in how the movies were made and seeing interviews with the cast. This package certainly doesn’t disappoint with hours of back stage stuff from the making of the movie sets, filming scenes and interviews with the cast. Awesome! Highly recommend this collection!

Looking at the competition, no one else really comes close to this amazing deal.

Amazon Canada: The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition Was $110 | Now Only $30 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 24, 2014 at 9:26 AM

Amazon Canada: The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collectors Edition Was $110 | Now Only $30 (EXPIRED)

Save 73% on The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition on Blu-Ray, now only $30 (was $109.50) @ Amazon.ca plus free shipping. This deal is Amazon’s deal of the day for their Boxing Day Sale.

This set includes three films that chronicles the origins of Batman.  I do not consider myself Comic-con material, but the Batman series is one of my favourite superhero series. To enjoy these films you should enjoy lots of action with a touch of humor at times and the ability to wrap up in a dark brooding super hero character.  Here is a brief overview of the three films for those who do not know much about the legend or series.

The first film “Batman Begins” starts early in Bruce Wayne’s life at the scene of his parent’s murder. This event sparks him at a young age to travel the world seeking to right injustice. Bruce Wayne then later returns to Gotham City to reveal his ultra-ego Batman. He uses his strength, speed and high tech gadgets (thanks to a hefty inheritance!) to fight crime and sinister bad guys.

The second film, “The Dark Knight” picks up where we left off. Batman joins forces with Lt. Jim and the Distract Attorney to wage war on crime in Gotham City. They find themselves caught in The Joker’s tricks, one of the most iconic Batman series villains. Batman must save Gotham City as The Joker attempts to thrust Gotham into his somewhat mad anarchy.

The third film, “The Dark Knight Rises” picks up 8 years later and Batman has vanished. Batman is held responsible for the death of an important character from the second movie and has created a self-imposed exile. His pain is overwhelming and there is lots of suffering and brooding. The combination of two villains threatening the city forces him to put on his cape again and try to save Gotham from a crushing evil.

Special features of this set include:

  • 48 page hardcover book to rehash all the details of the films
  • 5 collectible cards featuring Bane, Harvey Dent, Ra’s al Ghul, Joker and Scarecrow
  • 3 vehicles featuring Tumbler, Bat Pod and Bat Mobile Five
  • Extra special deatures including: The Creation and Impact of The Dark Knight and an exclusive interview with Christopher Nolan and Richard Donner

Let us see how the competition is stacking up for this deal of the day:

  • $54.87@ Walmart.ca
  • $55.99 @ BestBuy.ca
  • $55.99@ Futureshop.ca
  • $82.12 @ Chapters Indigo
  • $89.99 @ London Drugs

Most people who have reviewed this set seem to report they enjoy almost every minute of their purchase. One of the many happy reviewers said:

You get every single film, tons of extras, and a bunch of batmobiles! Perfect for collectors.

Many more reviewers wrote quite a lot about their love for the series and the extras in this set. Overall this blu-ray set seems to be a hit with Batman fans.

Amazon Canada: The Walking Dead Was $160 | Now $50 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 16, 2014 at 1:19 PM

Amazon Canada: The Walking Dead Was $160 | Now $50 (EXPIRED)

I know so many The Walking Dead fans and it has gotten me intrigued to watch the series myself. This deal is killer and a good time for any fan or person considering becoming a fan to get the series. Get seasons 1 – 3 on blu-ray, plus a t-shirt for only $49.99, with a regular price of $159.99. Also, get the season 4 collector’s edition for only $54.99, with a regular price of $149.99.

The first thing I do before writing a deal for the Moosers is to price compare. A deal is not a deal if other stores have it for the same price or cheaper, even if the inflated regular price says it is hot. But, in this case, Amazon has the cheapest prices.

Consider that Walmart is selling seasons 1-3 with the included t-shirt for $99.99. Future Shop is sold out of those seasons at the $79.99 price point and so is Best Buy.

As for season 4, Future Shop sells it for $89.99 and that’s the only place I could find it. So while Amazon’s regular prices are a bit over the top, they still are by far the best deal on such a hot series.

In fact, just so you know how hot both sets are, the first set is a #1 bestseller in science fiction and fantasy and in shows that start with W, but that’s a bit trivial. It also has fantastic reviews like these ones:

Awesome show!

Lightning quick delivery! Ordered this for my brother’s b-day and he was thoroughly excited about this series so thank you again!

I’m going to vouch for Amazon’s quick delivery. I ordered something on Saturday and got it today, so if you are worried about not getting this before Christmas, I think you will.

Considering that the sets are sold out at Best Buy and Future Shop at a higher price, I’m going to hazard a guess that they will sell out quickly at Amazon as well. They are a lightning deal, so you only have about 13 more hours to shop as well.

Shipping will be free on either set.

Tarantino XX Collection Blu-Ray Was $106 Now $47 & Free Shipping @ Amazon TODAY Only! (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 6, 2014 at 7:14 AM

Tarantino XX Collection Blu Ray Was $106 Now $47 & Free Shipping @ Amazon TODAY Only! (EXPIRED)

There’s a great price on this Tarantino XX collection on Blu-Ray, for today only, online @ Amazon.ca. Originally priced at $105.99, it’s down to $46.99 with free super saver shipping! Get it today though…

The blu-ray set contains 8 movies, I’m just going to list them here for your viewing ease, along with their IMDB scores:

  • Inglorious Basterds – 8.3
  • Pulp Fiction – 9.0
  • Kill Bill 1 & 2 – 8.2 & 8.0
  • Reservoir Dogs – 8.4
  • Jackie Brown – 7.5
  • Death Proof – 7.1
  • True Romance – 8.0

There are some absolute Tarantino classics in there, such as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Can you see a trend in the IMDB scores though – they’re all super high! The lowest was Death Proof with a score of 7.1 which I would agree with, I actually didn’t really enjoy that particular movie.

There are also a lot of added features in these discs, such as a “20 Years of Filmmaking” Featurette. I’d be interested to see a few of those.

I did however, LOVE Pulp Fiction. I’ve seen it sooooo many times. Additionally, when I was a teenager, I had a CD of the movie soundtrack, which I would constantly play on repeat. I know all the songs off by heart, and it’s probably one of my favourite movie soundtracks of all time. Whenever I’m out having a few drinks with friends and Son of a Preacher Man comes on, you can often hear me drunkenly bellowing the lyrics. Tarantino XX Collection Blu Ray Was $106 Now $47 & Free Shipping @ Amazon TODAY Only! (EXPIRED) Billy ray was a preacher’s son…

As for prices elsewhere, this particular Tarantino blu-ray box set isn’t sold online at many other Canadian retailers. I did spot it for $75 @ Best Buy though. If you know a fan of Tarantino, this could be an idea for a great Christmas gift. Additionally, there’s an amazing one sheet of the movie here at Allposters.ca. Love it.

What was your favourite Tarantino movie from the above choices?

Star Trek Box Sets Price Drops @ Amazon.ca: Save Up To 68%!

Posted by on December 2, 2014 at 3:26 PM

I’ve spotted a couple of great prices on Star Trek box sets online @ Amazon.ca! I’m a trekkie and have been for about 20 years now – I love these shows! They have been reduced by between 61% and 68% – here are all the details:

Save 64% on Star Trek: Stardate Collection [Blu-ray] (Bilingual) – was $139.99 now $49.99

Star Trek Box Sets Price Drops @ Amazon.ca: Save Up To 68%!

Elsewhere, you can expect to pay $109 @ Walmart, $146 @ Archambault, $110 @ Chapters, $115 @ Future Shop. This collection contains movies one to ten of the Star Trek motion pictures. Which is your favourite? I loved Generations – William Shatner and Patrick Stewart in one movie – SPINE TINGLING!!

Save 68% on Star Trek Deep Space Nine: The Complete Series was $449.99 now $144.99

Star Trek Box Sets Price Drops @ Amazon.ca: Save Up To 68%!

The prices for this box set elsewhere: $318 @ Staples, $338 @ Indigo. It’s got the whole Deep Space Nine collection… that’s ALOTTA Star Trek! I have to say that quark was one of my favourite characters in this. And I often go Quark-spotting – trying to spot the actor out of make-up, playing cameos in other TV shows.

Save 61% on Star Trek: Original Series (Remastered) 3 Season Pack was $159.99 now $61.99

Star Trek Box Sets Price Drops @ Amazon.ca: Save Up To 68%!

To buy this particular boxset elsewhere, there’s a similar one for $305 @ Walmart, but I don’t see this exact one on sale elsewhere in Canada. Looks like a lovely set! I bought the first series of the original Star Trek a few years back, it’s an absolute pleasure to watch. The best ever episode is in season two though – The Trouble with Tribbles. And Deep Space Nine (mentioned above) even did a Tribbles special episode too!

The delivery time scale on these DVDs and blurays is not fast – it’s one to three months on the latter item. So, you wouldn’t need to be in a rush to receive these. Don’t bank on getting them by Christmas. But they are superb prices for superb TV shows – and well worth the money, in my opinion. And they all come with free super saver shipping.

And let’s finish this deal off with a little quote from Bones:

Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence.

Nice.

Some people may be stressed around the holiday season, and it can be easy for that to happen. However, I just love it. I do find it challenging to do my Christmas shopping at malls on weeknights and weekends, due to the huge crowds and the limited parking spaces that are usually available, but that’s why shopping online is just so convenient. Amazon Canada: Band Of Brothers Blu Ray Set | Was $100 Now $29

Attention! Have any of you Bargainmoosers heard of the Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks-produced TV series, Band Of Brothers? It has gotten rave reviews for many years, as this series showed an intimate and harrowing look at the combat that occurred World War II. Well today’s deal at Amazon is for a Band Of Brothers Blu-Ray Set – this normally sells for $99.99, but you can now order this for only $28.99! Now that’s a great deal – after all, you’re saving $71 from the retail price! You’ll also qualify for free shipping, which is always a nice bonus!

If you’re looking for the perfect present for Dad, then you should consider getting this Band Of Brothers Blu-Ray Set. It’s a great series for World War II aficionados to check out, and it continues to get praise to this very day. In fact, one of my friends urged me to check out this series a few months ago, and he told me that it’s something that you just can’t miss. I think I just might pick up this set and watch it during the holidays. You can’t go wrong with a series that was produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks!

This mini-series has 10 episodes in total, along with a documentary that features interviews with some of the veterans of WWII. Altogether, you’re getting 705 minutes of content, so this is a great deal!

If you wanted to buy this Band Of Brothers Blu-Ray Set from Best Buy, it would cost you $66.99. Listed below is a brief review of this set from a satisfied Amazon customer:

Probably my most favourite series of all time. These 10 episodes really make you feel like you’re in the action. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have done an amazing job, and a real tribute to the veterans and our current day soldiers. On Blu-ray it is of course incredibly clear. You will not regret this purchase.

Have a great day, my fellow deal hunters!

Best Buy Canada: X-Men Trilogy Pack On Blu-Ray | Was $40 Now $15

Posted by on November 18, 2014 at 10:37 AM

Best Buy Canada: X Men Trilogy Pack On Blu Ray | Was $40 Now $15

Hey there, my fellow deal hunters! Best Buy currently has a great sale on the X-Men Trilogy Pack on Blu-Ray – it normally retails for $39.99, but you can now pick up this Blu-Ray set for only $14.99 (plus $1.99 shipping). This set currently sells for $39.99 at Future Shop, so you’re getting $25 off the regular price! Plus, who doesn’t love comic book movies? Even if you’re not too familiar with the X-Men characters, these films do a great job of making even first-time viewers familiar with the background of the Marvel X-Men universe. They’re fun to watch, and best of all, they’re now on Blu-Ray!

This X-Men Trilogy Pack on Blu-Ray comes with the first 3 X-Men movies. I have them on DVD, and I really enjoyed watching them. My older brother, who isn’t really a huge fan of Marvel movies, loves the X-Men films. He actually has each of these movies in his DVD collection, so it goes to show you that even those who weren’t really fans of the comic book just might enjoy these films.

I used to love the X-Men when I was a child. At first, I was a fan of Batman and Superman (mostly Batman, since the huge Batman Returns marketing blitz was occurring at the time). However, by the time I turned 7, my new favourite Marvel characters were the X-Men. I watched the cartoon every Saturday morning, too! Who doesn’t remember this iconic theme song? It was also on an hour before WWF Superstars, so it was a part of my Saturday viewing block. Man, I loved parking myself in front of the TV and just watching it on those weekend mornings.

I’ve included a brief review of this X-Men Trilogy Pack on Blu-Ray from a satisfied Amazon customer below:

To start with I am not a fan of sci-fi, but this story carries a good sense of personal struggle that is easy to associate with. And, of course, some very cool effects which attract I believe most of the viewers.

Quantities are extremely limited, so get this now before it’s gone! Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: 69% off Bond 50 (Now $90) (EXPIRED)

Posted by on November 14, 2014 at 9:00 AM

Amazon Canada: 69% off Bond 50 (Now $90) (EXPIRED)

Today only, get 70% off the entire collection of Bond movies! Get the Bond 50 for only $89.99, with a regular price of $299.99 and it will ship for free too. This will make a fantastic gift for any movie buff or Bond lover.

I’ve actually never watched a Bond movie in my life, but this deal is too good to pass up. My husband is the type to love a movie and watch it repeatedly, rather than try his luck with other movies. If I bought him this collection, I’m sure I’d never see the end of end of it, but it sounds intriguing, and I bet I’d love it too. 101 customer reviews that give it almost 5 overall stars can’t be wrong.

What you get for $90:

  • 23 films on Blu-Ray
  • 120 hours of extras

You’ll get all of the Bond movies in this collection from Dr. No to Skyfall, which is the latest. Apparently there is one Bond movie missing, which is never included in any boxset (Never Say Never Again). This is truly hours and hours of watching. I would be very interested in seeing how the Bond men change over time.

Reviewers site how the quality of the movies is greatly improved on the Blu-ray versions, although the packaging is not very nice.

I was a little worried as I had read about issues with the books falling apart, but so far there have been no problems! The movies look amazing, and there are a good amount of special features. I’d recommend this for any bond fan who doesn’t yet own all of the movies.

Just to give you a price comparison, Best Buy has it on for $109 as a special price, but with only a few copies left in stock.

I have a feeling this deal with sell out quickly, so if you want it, don’t hesitate. It is also on today only, so you’ve got 18 hours left to get it even if it doesn’t sell out.

Amazon Canada: Rocky Heavyweight Collection On Blu Ray | Was $70 Now $21

Yo, Adrian, I did it – I found a great deal! The countdown to Black Friday continues on Amazon, since they currently have a really appealing discount on their Rocky Heavyweight Collection on Blu-Ray today, and it’s sure to make any fans of these action-packed Sylvestor Stallone classics very happy – especially if it’s a gift during the holiday season! This set of Rocky movies normally sells for $69.99, but you can now purchase the Rocky Heavyweight Collection on Blu-Ray for just $20.49 (plus $1.99 shipping). If you spend a minimum of $25 on Amazon, you’ll qualify for free shipping. Quantities are limited, so you’ll want to act fast and get this set as soon as you can!

The Rocky Heavyweight Collection on Blu-Ray is quite the set – it includes all 6 Rocky movies on Blu-Ray, and an extra disc that’s packed with special features. So you’re getting 7 Blu-Ray discs in total for $20.49! Plus, how could you not love the Rocky movies? Sure, many may think that they’re cheesy, but some entries in this series are really good – especially the first Rocky and Rocky Balboa (the 6th movie that was released in 2006).

Personally, even though most people that didn’t view it as a child won’t enjoy it as much as those who did, I really loved Rocky III (they loved using Roman numerals to promote the Rocky movies). With Mr. T playing Clubber Lang and Hulk Hogan making an appearance as Thunderlips, it was a really fun action movie to watch! It was actually the first Rocky movie I’ve ever watched, and I still love the elaborate boxing scenes in that movie.

This Rocky Heavyweight Collection on Blu-Ray is currently on sale at WalMart for $30. I’ve included a brief review of this set from a satisfied Amazon customer below:

Excellent box set – love the movies, and love the packaging. I would suggest this box set as a gift any day.

If you want to pick up a great gift that’s affordable and fun, then you should consider getting this set. You can check out the other Amazon Black Friday deals by clicking here. Check out our Black Friday dashboard to see other deals as they arrive! Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Cineplex Canada: Get 2 Free Cineplex Movie Tickets ($26 Value) When You Spend $29.99+ On Blu-Rays Or DVDs

Cineplex Canada: Get 2 Free Cineplex Movie Tickets ($26 Value) When You Spend $29.99+ On Blu Rays Or DVDs

Good morning, Moosers! I thought I’d bring this deal from Cineplex to your attention. Essentially, when you spend $19.99 on a home movie (digital) you’ll get 1 free Cineplex movie pass (a $12.99 value). What makes this deal appealing to me is the second option that you have for this deal: when you spend $29.99+ on DVDs or Blu-Rays, you’ll get 2 free Cineplex movie tickets ( a $26 value). Now that’s one heck of a deal! There are many great titles to choose from on the Cineplex website, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on DVD (pre-order for $29.99) and 3D Blu-Ray (pre-order for $41.99), and Guardians Of The Galaxy (pre-order for $31.99 on 3D Blu-Ray). Plus, you’ll also get free shipping! Now that’s one worthy deal!

I literally just bought something from the Cineplex store because of this hot promotion! I pre-ordered Guardians Of The Galaxy on 3D Blu-Ray, and those 2 free Cineplex movie tickets automatically showed up in my cart. Since I love 3D Blu-Rays (and they usually sell for premium prices when they’re Disney or Marvel titles), this is a great deal. Also, what’s great is that this promotion will be active until December 22nd, so it won’t disappear right away.

Some of the more popular titles may not be in stock for very long, either, so I recommend that you browse the Cineplex website and look for some DVDs or Blu-Rays that you’d like to own. With 2 free movie tickets that you could use at any Cineplex location, you really can’t go wrong with this deal!

The Guardians Of The Galaxy 3D Blu-Ray combo pack currently sells for the same price at Best Buy and Future Shop ($31.99). I’ve included a brief review of the movie from Rotten Tomatoes below:

Guardians of the Galaxy is just as irreverent as fans of the frequently zany Marvel comic would expect — as well as funny, thrilling, full of heart, and packed with visual splendour.

Here’s to a great weekend – take care, Bargainmoosers!
