Amazon Canada: Alien Anthology On Blu-Ray | Was $70 Now $18

Amazon Canada: Alien Anthology On Blu Ray | Was $70 Now $18

Just in time for Halloween, it’s the Alien movie collection on Blu-Ray for an incredible price! Today on Amazon, you can purchase the Alien Anthology on Blu-Ray for just $17.49 (plus $1.99 shipping). This Blu-Ray set normally retails for $69.99! You just can’t beat this price for this set. If you haven’t seen the Alien movies before, you owe it to yourself to check them out at least once – and you can do that by purchasing this set from Amazon.

The Alien Anthology on Blu-Ray contains 9 discs in total, and 4 Alien movies in total (8 different versions of the films in total are included in this set). With dozens of hours of archival footage and special features included, this would be a wonderful gift for fans of the Alien movies!

I remember watching Alien 3 when I was a kid, and that was quite the thriller! I remember wanting to see it because of the mass marketing of the movie that was going on at the time (1992, 1993) – heck, they even had a successful toy line available! That’s what lured me in. I also played the Alien 3 video game for the Super Nintendo (it was mediocre, but kind of fun for the time), so I wanted to check out the movie.

Those Aliens were definitely a lot more sinister looking in the movie than they were in the video games and the toys, that’s for sure! It was an exciting movie that I remembered for years, and when I was a teen, I watched the original Alien movies (Alien and Aliens), and they were mostly great… mostly (sorry Bargainmoosers, I had a need to include that terrible reference).

If you purchase this Alien Anthology on Blu-Ray set at Future Shop, it will cost you $44.99, and it’s $45 at WalMart (and out of stock). Listed below is a brief review of this Alien Anthology on Blu-Ray set from a satisfied Amazon customer:

The four films are better looking than ever on blu-ray. The special features are more in-depth than they’ve ever been. I particularly like the making of “Alien 3″ documentary, with all the restored footage of David Fincher’s issues with the studio, and learning all about the original screenplay that almost was (and would’ve been far better in my opinion). A true gift for fans of the series.

I hope you all enjoy your Tuesday, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 1 On Blu-Ray | Was $66 Now $19

Amazon Canada: Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 1 On Blu Ray | Was $66 Now $19

Good morning, everyone! Amazon is having a really great deal on Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 1 Blu-Ray sets. Normally selling for $66, you can now get this Blu-Ray set for just $18.99 (plus $1.99 shipping). If you’ve ever been a fan of Looney Tunes cartoons, then you should check out this deal! In my opinion, these classic cartoon shorts are timeless, and can be watched multiple times (I know I did when I was younger and watched an hour of Looney Tunes every Saturday afternoon on Global).

This classic Blu-Ray collection features some nice extras, including a small book that details the history of several Looney Tunes characters, and even a small shot glass! This limited edition set is also numbered, and includes 3 Blu-Ray discs filled with classic cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck, and others.

My girlfriend actually bought this exact set on Amazon approximately 18 months ago when it was on sale for roughly $32, and she’s still very happy with her purchase (even though today’s price for the Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 1 On Blu-Ray is lower, she was still able to save a decent amount of money). It’s a very cute set that would compliment any Blu-Ray collection!

At Future Shop, the Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 1 On Blu-Ray costs $53.99. I’ve included a snippet of a review of this classic collection of Looney Tunes cartoons from a satisfied Amazon customer below:

I absolutely love having this set. Nowadays, whenever you watch “The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show,” you get the same cycle of watered-down, ultra-politically correct cartoons. This set reminds me of what cartoons were about. The music, and special features regarding music are unreal! I feel like this set is more for die-hards rather than just the casual fan. Regardless, the enjoyment that it has provided myself and my family make it well worth the price.

This deal won’t last long, so check it out before it’s too late. Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: The Resident Evil Collection On Blu-Ray | Was $96 Now $26 (EXPIRED)

Amazon Canada: The Resident Evil Collection On Blu Ray | Was $96 Now $26 (EXPIRED)

Do you want to see some films featuring flesh-eating zombies to prepare for Halloween this month? Well, if you’re familiar with the Resident Evil movies, then this deal for a Blu-Ray collection of the popular series just might encourage you to click on the link below! At this time, Amazon is having a sale on The Resident Evil Collection on Blu-Ray – its regular price is $95.99, but you can now purchase this set for just $25.99! That’s $70 off of the retail price! You’ll also get free shipping with your order – hooray!

The Resident Evil Collection on Blu-Ray comes with the following movies: Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Resident Evil: Retribution. That’s 5 movies in one great package – definitely plenty of horror and sci-fi for you to indulge in when you’re preparing for October 31st!

Originally spawned from the famous video game series created by Capcom, the Resident Evil films started to appear on the big screen back in 2002. The games where you had to shoot at hundreds of undead zombies that first appeared on the Sony Playstation and Sega Saturn systems developed so much of a following among fans and casual gamers alike that it eventually became a successful movie franchise.

When you see how the Super Mario Bros. and Street Fighter movies from 1994 turned out, it’s safe to say that it’s tough for a video game series to make it on the big screen (though the original Mortal Kombat movie from 1995 was a lot of fun to watch, and had some success). The fact that the Resident Evil movie series is still being worked on (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will apparently be released in 2016) just shows how successful it has become.

This set is currently on sale at Best Buy for $44.99 (though only 1 set is still in stock as of this writing). I’ve included some brief reviews from satisfied Amazon customers below:

Makes for epic marathon viewing, though the plot is not excatly involved. Comes in a reasonable quality package that will keep the five discs tidy.

Great deal on a great set of movies. Been looking forward to watching these films and they sure don’t disappoint.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series On Blu Ray | Was $300 Now $100 (EXPIRED)

Good morning, sci – fi fans! Amazon is currently having a nominal sale on the Battlestar Galactica Complete Series On Blu – Ray, and it’s definitely worth checking out – it normally costs $299.99, but for a limited time you can get this box set for $99.99! That’s 67% off of the retail price, so it’s quite the deal for fans of this TV series. Plus, you’ll also qualify for free shipping.

If you purchase this massive box set, you’ll be getting the complete Battlestar Galactica series on Blu – Ray. You can learn more about the specifics of this box set by clicking here.

I’ve never been too familiar with many sci – fi shows, but I have definitely heard of Battlestar Galactica (I have a friend who already owns this blu – ray set and loves the show). It stars Edward James Olmos, who I most recently saw in the Dexter TV series a few years ago, and as always, he was fantastic in his role.

The Battlestar Galactica TV series has quite the following, so fans of it will likely be very pleased with this deal on Amazon. When the price drops from $300 to $100, people will take notice – especially those who have never seen the show but were waiting for the right opportunity to check it out. This would be one of those opportunities. After all, that’s how I first began to watch the excellent series Six Feet Under (all of the seasons were on sale so I picked them up).

This box set currently costs $165.60 (the inferior DVD version) at WalMart. Listed below is a review of this Battlestar Galactica Complete Series on Blu – Ray from a satisfied Amazon customer:

There is not a moment in this series where you will find yourself bored or disappointed. There are elements of nearly every genre of science fiction in which everyone can enjoy. The plot and story line are unique and well thought out. The actors do a fantastic job at playing their roles. This series is filled with emotion, action, and constantly makes you question everything. It leaves you guessing at times and it never fails to disappoint the viewer.

When you’re saving 67% off of the retail price, it’s likely that this deal won’t last for very long, so if you’ve ever been intrigued by the Battlestar Galactica TV series, now’s your chance to get it for a cheaper price. Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: A Nightmare On Elm Street Collection On Blu Ray | Was $65 Now $23 (EXPIRED)

Amazon Canada: A Nightmare On Elm Street Collection On Blu Ray | Was $65 Now $23 (EXPIRED)

I don’t mean to alarm anyone here, but Freddy’s back – on Blu – Ray! Just in time for Halloween, you can get this A Nightmare On Elm Street Collection on Blu – Ray today on Amazon for just $22.49 (plus $1.99 shipping) – it normally costs $64.99, so this is one heck of a deal for horror movie fans!

This Blu – Ray set contains the following movies from the classic A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy’s Revenge, Dream Warriors, The Dream Master, The Dream Child, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, and Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.

For the price, you can`t go wrong. Even if you aren`t too familiar with this classic series of horror films, it`s worth checking out for the price if you have any friends that enjoy slasher flicks. I still remember the three “boogeymen” of my childhood being Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees (from the Friday The 13th series), and Michael Myers (Yeah, baby! Just kidding… I mean the character from the Halloween movies).

Looking back, these characters are still pretty iconic to this day. There was something that seemed just a little bit scarier back in the 80′s when watching a horror film. I guess that was because TV didn’t really have much explicit violence on it, unless you rented a movie on VHS and popped it into your VCR. Nowadays, these films seem pretty tame compared to the horror films of today, but they’re not without their charm.

This set currently costs $50.87 at WalMart. I’ve included some brief reviews from satisfied Amazon customers below:

Just what I expected – 80′s slasher films at its best.

The best horror franchise ever on Blu – Ray = perfection

A great movie to watch. I love watching and watching this movie all over again. It’s really worth on time and money you spent.

If you’re looking for some old school horror films to check out while you’re anticipating Halloween, then these classics should keep you satisfied. I hope you all have a great day, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: $70 Off Star Wars The Complete Saga Episodes I-VI Blu-Ray Box Set

Posted by on August 14, 2014 at 10:00 PM

Amazon Canada: $70 Off Star Wars The Complete Saga Episodes I VI Blu Ray Box SetMay the force be with you as you take advantage of an awesome deal on a Star Wars box set. For a limited time, you can save $70 on the Star Wars: The Complete Saga (episodes I-VI) box set in Blu-ray and get it for just $89.99 (reg. $159.99). It comes up to 44% off the original price.

Even better is that this is a Blu-Ray version. Even though technology has widely moved onto Blu-Ray, DVDs are usually the ones being discounted, so it’s nice to see a deal on one of the most popular franchises in the world. When it comes to DVDs or Blu-Rays, I definitely only ever choose Blu-Rays, especially for high action and popular movies.

With a total of nine discs, six of the discs in this box set are:

  • Episode 1: The Phantom Menace
  • Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
  • Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith
  • Episode 4: A New Hope
  • Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back
  • Episode 6: Return of the Jedi

The other three discs features extra and deleted scenes:

  • Star War Archives: episodes 1-3
  • Star Wars Archies: episode 4-6
  • The Star Wars Documentaries

This Blu-Ray had actually been very much anticipated, and has over 150 reviews with a total consensus of 4.4 stars out of 5. Here’s what one reviewer had to say about it:

Star Wars on Blu-ray…it took a lot less time than Star Wars on DVD! And in special features and deleted scenes alone, it was well worth the wait. You can’t do a box set like this without the bonus of unseen footage. The good news is, The Complete Saga is loaded with unseen special features and deleted scenes. In fact, the Tosche Station scene is worth the purchase alone. It’s that great.

I have to admit that even though I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan, I can certainly appreciate a good deal when I see one. However, Star Wars fans should keep in mind the following review:

The original trilogy (without any 1997 added special effects, that is) isn’t there (that was to be expected), but also, the special features of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 (the documentaries, interviews, trailers, etc.) isn’t here anymore. Episodes 1, 2 and 3′s second discs are nowhere to be found either.

Plus, since Amazon typically ships orders over $25 for free, you’re also sure not to pay any added shipping fees.

Staples Canada: LG Smart 3D Blu-ray Player only $79 (Was $139) Today Only (Expired)

Posted by on August 11, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Staples Canada: LG Smart 3D Blu ray Player only $79 (Was $139) Today Only (Expired)

Staples has a hot deal out for today on the LG Smart 2D blu-ray player with wi-fi, which is now only $79 with a regular price of $139.

I think I may be one of the last people in the world to have a blu-ray player. I’m not sure why we haven’t delved into this technology, but I’m thinking now is the time, since this deal makes this blu-ray player under $80 and it will include free shipping. With winter coming living in the snow belt,  I know I’m going to need some movies to watch!

The Specs:

This blu-ray player has built-in wi-fi, 3D blu-ray playing capabilities and you can wirelessly send audio form your TV to your smartphone. Using the remote, you can have access to thousands of movies, apps and more on the web.

The Price:

You know the price, but what does it sell for elsewhere? Dell has it selling for more than Staples’ regular price at $149.99. Walmart, the king of deals, also sells it for more than regular price at $148. Visions has it cheaper than the other competitors at $118.

Reviews:

There are four reviews on the Staples site, which give it a total of four out of five stars. You could also check the Dell and Walmart sites, which have quite a few reviews as well. This one summed up the player for me:

Great picture quality. Love the wireless streaming. Satisfied with purchase.

Another person who wasn’t quite as satisfied said the following:

Overall, I think this player is good option if you need Netflix or 3D.

Shipping:

This item will ship to you for free, so no need to worry about extra fees at checkout, besides the taxes of course.

I wouldn’t wait to get your hands on this, something tells me it will sell out quite quickly and I’ll have a lot of disappointed Moosers sending me comments that it is out of stock.

Amazon Canada: Documentaries Over 50% Off

Amazon Canada: Documentaries Over 50% Off

If you need something interesting, education and entertaining to watch this summer, why not pop in a documentary? Amazon has their documentaries on sale for over 50% off, so now is the time to get the one you’ve been wanting to watch.

I love watching documentaries because it is like I am being productive while watching television. I can also watch them with my kids, which for certain ones, they’ll like to, so it is something for the whole family.

The best deal of the bunch is on the documentary “Life”, which is basically how we (as living beings) procreate, fend off enemies, nourish ourselves, are born and die. I would find this very interesting and I know my older sons would too. The reviews are fantastic and I can’t imagine how beautiful the images will be. This one sells for a regular price of $87.48, but is on sale for $31.99. I found it at Best Buy for $69.99, which means the Amazon version is almost $40 cheaper!

Although we’ve blogged Planet Earth before, it is totally worth mentioning again, as this is a really hot price. It has a regular price of $99.90, but is on sale for $34.99 with blu-ray discs. Best Buy has this same set on for $79.99.

Not all of the documentaries are on wildlife, as there is also a couple of musical ones, including this One Direction: This is Us documentary. I personally wouldn’t watch this, but if I had a One Direction fan in the house, you know that $10 would be well-spent (regular price $35.99).

Amazon offers free shipping on orders over $25, so if your disc is such a good price like the One Direction one, you might have to get one for a friend, or get another so you don’t have to worry about shipping costs adding to your bill.

Amazon Canada: Movies & TV Shows for $5 or Less

Amazon Canada: Movies & TV Shows for $5 or Less

Amazon Canada has a pretty spectacular deal right now on some of their movies and TV shows DVDs.  You will be able to find a ton of them all for under just $5!

You will find a great mixture of older movies and newer movies and all of them are $5 or less.  There is also a great mixture of movies and TV shows for the young and young at heart.

If you are looking for a great romantic comedy, check out Friends with Benefits that was $14.99 and is now just $5. It has eye candy for the women with Justin Timberlake and for the men with Mila Kunis which makes it a great date night movie.

If you are looking for more of a family movie, I suggest The Princess Bride 20th Anniversary Edition that was $15.58 and is now just $5.  It has humour that is perfect for both young and old making it a great family night movie to watch. It was actually one of my favourite movies growing up and it is one of those movies that I can watch over and over again.

As for some of the TV shows, they are mainly older shows or kids shows.  One of my kids favourite shows called Thomas and Friends: Rescue on the Rails is included and at just $5 now (it was $9.99) it is sure to be a hit with the toddlers. At 50% off the regular price, it is very affordable now!

You will notice that there are more movies than TV shows but with a selection of a few hundred deals to choose from, there is something for everyone.

You will get free shipping when your order is $25 or more.

Amazon Canada: Planet Earth Complete Series Only $30 (was $100)

Amazon Canada: Planet Earth Complete Series Only $30 (was $100)

If you haven’t yet seen the Planet Earth series, you can buy it for only $29.99 at Amazon, was $99.90. I price compared this deal because this seems like quite the discount and found this complete series on blu-ray at Chapters Indigo for $64.99 and Future Shop for $94.99. I found DVD versions were also higher priced.

I have yet to see this series, but I’m considering picking it up for my kids and I to watch. I love it when they watch shows that are educational, plus it will teach them how wonderful and magical this world really is. I don’t have a blu-ray player, so this is a hitch in my plans, but I am on the watch for the DVD version to be cheaper.

This six-disc set is a #1 bestseller at Amazon and it is easy to see why. On top of gorgeous images and video, there is also beautiful orchestral scores so you get the full sensory experiences. Reviewers love this video too and even say you will “feel like you’ve never felt before” watching it. Some reviews did say there was a problem with the content on some discs, but others say this is just how it was filmed.

I love that this set is just over the threshold for free shipping at $25, so you really don’t have to worry about picking something else up to save on shipping. Just purchase and go!

Amazon Canada: Wizard of Oz Anniversary Edition Only $15

Amazon Canada: Wizard of Oz Anniversary Edition Only $15

Get the 75th anniversary edition of the Wizard of Oz on Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray and UltraViolet Bilingual for only $14.99, was $43.99 at Amazon.

There are different versions of the Wizard of Oz’s anniversary edition, one being the collector’s edition, which I blogged about before Christmas. This is not that collection, as it only comes with the discs. I tried to price compare and found the anniversary edition at Walmart for $80! It says it has the same items as the one on Amazon, but the price totally overwhelms me!

If you’ve never seen the Wizard of Oz, all I have to say is, “seriously???”. This movie is the classic of all classics and it was even featured at this year’s Academy Awards, so I know even the youngest of Moosers have heard of it. I saw this movie at least 50 times in my youth and my kids have all seen it too. If I had a blu-ray player, I’d love to get the 3D copy and see all those flying monkeys coming right at me. Ok, maybe I wouldn’t, those monkeys are quite creepy.

As a special feature, your discs will also include a new feature length documentary of the Making of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Almost every one of the 361 reviews of this set on Amazon give it a 5-star rating, and those who don’t, hey, what do they know?

You’ll have to spend a bit more on something else to get your shipping free as it is a $25 threshold.

Amazon Canada: Shameless Seasons 1 & 2 Only $20 (Was $63)

For only $19.99, you can get a Blu-Ray copy of seasons one and two of Shameless. The regular price for this item is $62.48.

I’m excited to blog this deal, as although I can’t get it because I don’t have anything to play Blu-Rays on, I absolutely love this show. If you’ve never seen it, now is your chance to get in a Shameless marathon and pick up the first two seasons very inexpensively.

Shameless is a show that was first started in the U.K., and I believe it is still going there. It did so well they made a U.S. version, which is quite behind the U.K. version. The Gallaghers are a family living in the hood in Chicago with addict parents and six kids. The oldest siblings are doing their best to raise and feed the younger ones, all the while dealing with all of the crap that goes on around addiction, poverty and growing up. It sounds like a sad show, but it is so funny that I guess you’d call it dark humour.

It has some really great actors/actresses in it like William H. Macy and Joan Cusack, but you’ll really love the lesser-know characters. My favourite is Lip, who is really cute in a disheveled sort of way.

Shipping won’t be free unless you spend another $5, so you might as well pick yourself out something else nice.

Amazon Canada: Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital for Only $10!

Amazon Canada: Star Trek Into Darkness Blu Ray, DVD and Digital for Only $10!

Go into the Darkness… of…  Star Trek? I dunno, this is falling apart. Whatever, it’s a great movie for $10! Amazon!

I love Star Trek. The Original, Next Generation and all the way to enterprise. I love the movies. The old ones, the new ones. All of it. My dad bought me a toy Tricorder for Christmas once. And a communicator. That was awesome. As much as I love it all, I haven’t seen the latest one.

That’s probably because I’m old and instead of buddies I have a kid and a wife. A wife who would probably jump out of a moving car rather than see a Star Trek movie.

With this deal I have no excuse. $10 to get the Blu-Ray, DVD and digital copy? Awesome. So for the folks out there like me who haven’t gotten a chance, well, here it is. It’s gotten great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and pretty much everywhere else. I guess it isn’t as good as the previous Star Trek but that’s kind of expected I guess.

I’ve heard people say that Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan is worth seeing the movie for all on it’s own and I believe it. Talent.

Shipping is not free unless you spend $25 and depends on where you are. The movie isn’t prime, either.
