Best Buy: $20 Off 2 Packs of Aleva Naturals Bamboo Baby Wipes (480 each) – $40 & Free Shipping

Posted by on February 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM

Best Buy: $20 Off 2 Packs of Aleva Naturals Bamboo Baby Wipes (480 each) $40 & Free Shipping

Best Buy Canada is offering $20 off when you purchase two packs of Aleva Naturals Bamboo Baby Wipes (480 count). The Alvera Bamboo Baby Wipes retail for $29.99 each, so when you purchase two packs they price comes down two for $39.99 or approximately $19.99 each.

I price compared this deal with other retailers. Best Buy’s sister store has the same offer on right now, so if Best Buy sells out then you can purchase them at Future Shop Canada instead.

As for other retailers, one box of 480 wipes costs $29.98 at Amazon Canada and $24.99 at Babies R Us Canada (free shipping at $25). Well.ca does not sell the 480 packs, but their 240 packs are $14.99. If you times that by two, it is essentially $29.98 for 480 wipes.

These baby wipes are made with unbleached organic bamboo. Bamboo is soft to the touch, so they will not agitate your baby’s skin. You may be surprised that these wipes are not white, but beige is the natural colour of bamboo fibres. Now, bamboo is an excellent material for wipes as it contains a natural anti-bacterial agent known as Bamboo Kun. It is also 100% biodegradable so your wipes are good for the environment as well.

Not only are these Aleva Naturals Bamboo Baby Wipes made of organic bamboo, they have also been treated with natural and organic oils. Your baby’s skin will enjoy organic aloe vera, certified organic chamomile oil, tea tree oil, natural lavender oil, and natural green tea extracts. Talk about a pampered bottom!

I was looking at reviews for these wipes, and they often get a 5/5 star review on the websites I was looking at. Parents, like the following reviewer, will only use these wipes:

Love these wipes, they smell amazing … can’t go back to the other ones anymore (they all smell fake now). They do a great job and don’t leave a rash on my baby’s delicate skin. Only drawback is there kind of expensive.

As these wipes are a bit expensive, it is nice to have a deal like this on when you can save on a couple large packs.

Now, if you are busy shopping for baby there is another deal you will want to use. Right now, you can get a BABYBJORN Safe Step for $5 (was $29.99) when you spend $100 or more on VIVA baby products.

Get free shipping on $25 or more.

Today Only @ Best Buy Canada: 50% Off Montecito Bonded High-Back Chair + NO TAX & Free Shipping – Now $150 (expired)

Posted by on February 23, 2015 at 11:45 AM

Today Only @ Best Buy Canada: 50% Off Montecito Bonded High Back Chair + NO TAX & Free Shipping Now $150 (expired)

Need a new office chair? Today only, Best Buy has discounted the Montecito bonded high-back manager & executive chair by 50% off. It was originally priced as high as $299.99 but is now just $149.98. Plus, you won’t be any tax on it as part of Best Buy’s current “no tax on all furniture” event and it will also be shipped for free — can’t get any better than that!

Made of bonded leather, the Montecito chair has soft to the touch exterior, a pneumatic seat adjustment along with fixed and padded armrests. It’s high back chair, which is ideal for the spine. It also comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

I love the look of this chair. It looks like a professional and elegant chair that could easily make any home office look more upscale. A couple of these could even be bought for numerous people at a small office but just don’t forget that this deal will end at midnight tonight as part of Best Buy’s Daily Deal Countdown, during which different markdowns are offered on a daily basis until February 26th.

Don’t panic when you see tax fees get added to your shopping cart once you go to checkout because the tax total will then be subtracted from the price of the chair, putting the total at $149.98. It’s just Best Buy’s way of applying the no tax promotion.

Today Only @ Best Buy Canada: 50% Off Montecito Bonded High Back Chair + NO TAX & Free Shipping Now $150 (expired)

Reviews are mixed. At Best Buy’s site, the Montecito has 7 reviews and a total of 2.7/5 stars. Here’s what one reviewer had to say about it:

After a relatively easy assembly, the chair is very comfortable. Only had brief difficulties attaching the arms. Chair lifts and drops, however does not recline. Aside from that, overall great computer chair.

However, I also found the Montecito chair at Staples for $223.34 and 21 reviews with a total of 4/5 stars with comments like this one:

This is the best chair I’ve ever bought. My son assembled it in no time; it’s comfortable, high enough, and doesn’t squeak. Since we always fight for it, I’m buying another one!

As you can see, it really seems to be a matter of preference.

Usually, Best Buy ships all orders over $25 for free but I wasn’t sure that it would apply to this chair as well. I’m happy to report that it does indeed qualify for free shipping, which is particularly awesome for those of you who don’t have a car or perhaps have one that is too small to fit a large box.

Best Buy Canada: Murphy Mesh Task Chair Was $140 | Now $50 & NO TAX & Free Shipping *HOT*

Posted by on February 20, 2015 at 1:51 PM

Best Buy Canada: Murphy Mesh Task Chair Was $140 | Now $50 & NO TAX & Free Shipping *HOT*

The deal of the day today at Best Buy Canada is hot. The Murphy Mesh Mid-Back Task Chair is on sale from $139.99 down to $49.99. As the chair is over the $25 minimum for free shipping, the chair will ship for free to your home. In addition, Best Buy Canada has a no tax on any furniture promotion on right now – so save an extra 5% to 12% on your order.

I found the same chair at Future Shop Canada currently priced at $139.99. Besides that, I could not really find this chair anywhere else. However, similar chairs retail for over $100 at most places. I have rarely seen a mesh back office chair for any less.

Features:

  • mesh back for breathability
  • cushioned bottom for comfort
  • height adjustable
  • comes in black to match everything

Now, the chair has fair-to-middling reviews on both Future Shop and Best Buy. I went through a bunch of them to understand why the chair is averaging 2.9/5 stars. The primarily complaint is that the seat is not comfortable enough for a long duration of sitting. However, even this is not completely agreed upon by reviewers. The most common rating is 3/5 stars. Many of the reviews are like this:

It’s a chair. I assembled it, I sat on it, and it works. The wheels are fine, and it works on carpet reasonably well. Nothing spectacular about it. Only bought it when it was on sale – would not buy it at full price.

This chair was 50% off during Boxing Day (as many comments mention), but you can now score this task chair for an even better deal.

Now, here are a few things the chair is not. You cannot adjust the depth of the back and the chair does not tilt. If you are looking for those features, your chair is going to cost you a bit more. This appears just to be a nice basic desk chair.

I should pick one of these chairs up as I sit on a dining-room table chair all the time to do my work. Now, that might sound fine but after a few hours, my bottom gets sore and my back has pretty much zero support. One of these chairs would probably help my back feel better!

HP Envy 5660 Wireless All-In-One Inket Printer Was $110 Now $40 & Free Shipping @ Futureshop.ca

Posted by on February 13, 2015 at 4:53 PM

HP Envy 5660 Wireless All In One Inket Printer Was $110 Now $40 & Free Shipping @ Futureshop.ca

Pick up the HP Envy 5660 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer today at a steal. This printer was $110 but is now only $40. The printer is available at both Futureshop.ca and it’s sister company BestBuy.ca for the same steal price. If it is out of stock at one, you can grab it at the other. Both stores offer free shipping with a minimum purchase of $25 and this qualifies.

A printer can be super handy to have at home. If you are like me, you may have run into trouble when trying to print from all of your devices. It may be time to upgrade for me. I need a printer that can connect to several Apple mobile devices, my laptop and my tablet. When did we get so many different types of devices in our house?

This printer does it all wirelessly and is a simple plug and play installation. You can connect it to your iPhone, IPad, Android device and more wirelessly. It has a separate tray to print 4×6 photos quickly without switching out the paper. You can even crop and do basic edits right from the colour touchscreen on photos and documents. The cartridges are high yield ink cartridges, which should help you to conserve ink costs. This printer also has a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty on both parts and labour.

This particular printer does not seem to be in stock anywhere else besides Best Buy and Future Shop. Perhaps it is simply last year’s model. The only place I found it in stock was from a third party seller on Amazon.ca for $170 which seems almost silly.

A comparable printer would be the HP Envy 4500 Wireless Colour Inkjet e-All-in-One Printer. I have found this comparable printer @ Amazon.ca for $99. I also found this same printer @ Staples.ca for $99. You could also pick up this comparable printer at BestBuy.ca or Future Shop.ca for $107. Better to buy the other all in one model now while it is a steal of a price.

There are several people talking about this printer on Futureshop. Overall it seems to be well liked. One user gave the tip to make sure to look for the ink cartridges in the Styrofoam casing, as they almost threw them out accidentally. Here is one happy review:

Printer very easy to setup, comes with ink cartridges. Print quality is very good and the wireless feature is great. Easy to print pictures from my iPhone 6. For the sale price, you can’t go wrong.

Once you get this printer at home, you can take advantage of all the amazing free printables available online. Check out my Valentine’s Day posts for 12 Last Minute Valentine’s Day Printables or 6 Free Printable Classroom-Style Valentine’s Day Cards for some great ideas of projects you can do with this printer. A printer can be handy for that last minute gift you forgot need now. I plan on featuring some more free printables in the near future that you can also make once you have this printer home.  This sale is available for a few days, but I would suggest ordering it now while it is still in stock. Plus you want to get started on all those fun DIY printable projects even sooner.

Bargainmoosers, what would you print on your new printer?

Best Buy Canada: iLuv iPod Speaker Dock Was $40 | Now $10

Posted by on February 12, 2015 at 9:51 AM

Best Buy Canada: iLuv iPod Speaker Dock Was $40 | Now $10

Best Buy’s got a great deal on right now on the iLuv iPod speaker dock that was $39.99 and now $9.99. Future Shop also had this deal, but it went out of stock very quickly and I suspect Best Buy may too, so get your hands on it quickly!

Basically this is a stereo speaker dock that charges your phone or iPod and plays your music at the same time. I just got myself an iPod so this would be super handy for me for on-the-go. I can even give it to my kids to play the music on my iPod in their rooms. I have stereo speakers on my desk, so I wouldn’t need it for that, but I would spend $10 so my kids don’t have to sit in my room to listen to music!

Even while it is docked, you can use the net, play games or watch videos as you can dock it horizontally or vertically.

They say the speakers are clear and dynamic. This is compatible with:

iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 3G/3GS, iPod touch 1G/2G/3G/4G, iPod classic, iPod nano 1G/2G/3G/4G/5G/6G, and iPod video

Out of 14 ratings on Best Buy alone, this speaker dock has a 4.1 star rating out of five. I don’t see many complaints at all about it and the only complaint I really saw was that it wasn’t cordless and that it was pricy. I guess we’ve taken care of complaint #2.

So far works great! Nice sound, charges the ipod quickly, easy to use, and nice shape/design. A little pricey and would be cool tto have a cordless options (such as batteries or the unit charges itself), but other than that no complaints!

Shipping is free on orders over $20 at Best Buy, so it might be best to get yourself a few of these. If you just want the item itself, shipping is a very small fee of $2.99, which is awesome!

Best Buy Canada: Trade-in 2 Select Games for $70 GC (In-Store)

Posted by on February 10, 2015 at 5:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: Trade in 2 Select Games for $70 GC (In Store)

Best Buy Canada has started their trade-in event yet again. As a special promotion, they are offering a $70 gift card when you trade in two select PS4, XBox One, or WiiU Games.

Games must include their original boxes. They will not accept duplicate titles regardless of which console they are for. There is a limit of one trade in promo (of two games) per customer.

The following titles are eligible for trade-in:

Xbox One & PS4

  • Assassin’s Creed Unity
  • Destiny
  • Dragon Age Requisition
  • Fifa 15
  • NBA 2K15
  • Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor
  • COD Advanced Warfare
  • Diablo III Ultimate Evil Ed ENG
  • WWE 2K15
  • NHL 15
  • GTA V
  • The Crew Ltd Edition
  • Dying Daylight

Other

  • PS4 Little Big Planet 3 Ltd Edition
  • Xbox One Forza Horizon 2
  • Xbox One Halo Master Chief Collection
  • Xbox One Sunset Overdrive Day One ED
  • Wii U Mario Kart 8
  • Wii U Super Smash Bros

While they are all pretty new games, this is an opportunity to trade them in for a good return on your original investment. Two games equal a $70 gift card, so you are getting $35 trade-in value per game. You can then use that credit to buy new games, or even buy other Previously Played titles.

Each previously played title is backed by a 30-day money back policy and are guaranteed to work. Your previously loved games will be sold to other eager gamers that just cannot afford to buy the game at full retail price.

I think this is an excellent incentive from Best Buy Canada and a very good trade-in value. These days, you are lucky to get $20 back for fairly new games from the trade-in stores. While it would make most sense just to sell the titles privately, some people just do not have the time to dedicate to privately selling.

This offer is available in store only and is only available for a couple more days. Then the games will go back down to their regular trade-in value (whatever that might be). I am a bit disappointed that PS3 titles are not included in this offer. I would LOVE to trade in a few PS3 titles for some store credit, but i guess they have had their day.

You can spend the gift card on anything Best Buy has to offer!

(PS4) Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Only $20 @ Best Buy / Future Shop (+ Shipping or Free Collection)

Posted by on February 7, 2015 at 12:25 PM

(PS4) Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Only $20 @ Best Buy / Future Shop (+ Shipping or Free Collection)

Here’s a deal on the Playstation 4 version of Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, a popular video game of recent days. For a mere $19.99, you can buy the game from either sister site, Future Shop or Best Buy Canada.

Price Comparison

While the “was” price on Best Buy and Future Shop says $29.99, this video game is actually being sold at varied prices all over the Canadian interwebs. For example, it’s $31.96 @ Walmart, $29.99 @ London Drugs, Archambault and $28.90 @ Amazon. The BB/FS price is the best I can see anywhere online and I’ve only ever seen this low a price point in the Boxing Day sales.

Shipping / Collection

If you want to only pay $19.99, then you can actually order this item online and collect at your local store for free. However, if you’d prefer it to be shipped to you, then shipping would cost extra if you buy this game on its own. I’d highly recommend making your order up to the $25 mark to get totally free shipping to your home.

Reviews

If you want to read some reviews before buying the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for your PS4, I spotted one such review here on Canada.com. The reviewers opening line was,

It’s hard to deny Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is a great looking game.

From the screenshots shown in that review, I’d agree. The images look superbly clear and crisp. The launch trailer is here if you’d like to view it too:

Over on Metacritic, this edition gets a Metascore of 85%, that’s very high. The user score is slightly lower though, coming in at 78%. But overall, this looks like a good game to try out if you are a fan of Lara Croft.

(PS4) Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Only $20 @ Best Buy / Future Shop (+ Shipping or Free Collection)

Lara Fun

The above image shows you the evolution of Lara Croft, from release to the present day. Lara finally wears pants again!! It’s funny to see all her characters over this time period. I dressed up as Lara Croft for Halloween about 10 years ago… and I’ll admit, I looked hawt! The style I went for was the Angelina Jolie style from the Tomb Raider movie, so it was more of a black outfit than her signature green t-shirt. In order to improve the appearance, I had a few pairs of socks stuffed down my bra… that worked well to finish off the outfit!

Best Buy Canada: Baby Bjorn Active Front Carrier Was $180 | Now $70

Best Buy Canada: Baby Bjorn Active Front Carrier Was $180 | Now $70

If you are looking for a hot deal that is going to sell out quickly and you’ve got a new parent to buy for or are a new parent, check out this deal at Best Buy. Get the Baby Bjorn Active front carrier for $69.99, with a regular price of $179.99, and you’ll also get free shipping.

I’ve blogged about Baby Bjorn a few times when it has gone on sale at Best Buy, but the price has never been this low.

Baby Bjorn carriers are life-savers. When you have a newborn, you feel like all you do is sit on the couch and hold the baby, or walk the room while holding the baby. The baby loves to be held. You probably wonder how anyone gets anything done while holding a baby. Simple answer – they don’t. This is where the carrier comes in to play. You can do your dishes, make your dinner, do your grocery shopping, even vacuum your house with your baby in the carrier. It will be quite a workout, but think about all the post-baby weight you’ll lose lugging around an extra 10-20 pounds on your body each day.

I loved taking my toddlers for walks in the stroller, while carrying the baby in the carrier. I also liked to do groceries with him in the carrier as he got to see so much more than he would have in his car seat. I remember him kicking his pudgy legs when I’d hand him an orange to hold.

This carrier is a bit different from the basic one I had, as it includes lumbar support. I would have loved that as I have a weak back and it would have helped a lot.

It says there are limited quantities so I wouldn’t wait to get this as it could sell out quickly. The sale is also today only. Because it is over $25, it will ship to you for free.

$20 Off Roku 1 Streaming Media Player @ Best Buy & Future Shop Canada – Now $40

Posted by on January 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM

$20 Off Roku 1 Streaming Media Player @ Best Buy & Future Shop Canada Now $40

Right now at either Best Buy or Future Shop, you can pick up the Roku 1 streaming media player for just $39.99. It usually retails for $59.99. Shipping is free as well.

Back in November, Walmart had the Roku 1 on sale for just $10 at Walmart. That was a phenomenal price drop and as it turns out, was a massive error that was quickly corrected as well. Nonetheless, if you have been eagerly waiting for another similar price drop, then this deal from Best Buy and Future Shop is perhaps the best one that we’re going to see for a while. Anything can happen, of course, but if you have been wanting to get this useful device, then now is as good a time as any.

So what exactly is the Roku 1? It’s a media streaming player that provides access to over 450 channels with over 150,000 movies and TV shows. Plus, you can even use your smart phone as a remote with their handy app — you know, for those times that the remote falls on the floor and you’re too lazy to pick it up? $20 Off Roku 1 Streaming Media Player @ Best Buy & Future Shop Canada Now $40

Wondering what hockey has to do with the Roku? With it, you can also stream tons of sports live like NHL GameCenter, MLS live, UFC and more.

If you’re not very techy and are worried about running into difficulties setting the Roku up, then you will be happy to know that it’s super easy to install, as evidenced by this review:

Surpasses my expectations….Easy to set up, great sound, good image quality…Good product for the price.

One the biggest negative comments with the Roku is with regards to the Canadian content. It’s a media streaming device that is US-based, which then expanded into the Canadian market and as such, they are still in the midst of adding content. This reminds me of the negative feedback that the Canadian Netflix has generated over the years and yet, even it has significantly improved. So the way I see it is that the Roku is definitely worth getting on sale, especially since it’s sure to only get better and better.

Best Buy Canada: Up to 25% Off LEGO

Posted by on January 25, 2015 at 6:00 AM

Best Buy Canada: Up to 25% Off LEGO

Best Buy Canada is offering up to 25% off the popular LEGO brand of building blocks.

The LEGO City Police Pursuit (4437) is one of the best LEGO deals at Best Buy. Originally $19.99, the police set is now on sale for $14.99. The set includes a forest policeman mini figure, robber mini figure, police ATV, robber off-road vehicle, gold bar, money bill, and a crow bar. I price compared this set with other stores and here is what they have it for:

  • $19.65 @ Amazon.ca
  • $19.99 @ Toys R Us Canada
  • $19.86 @ Walmart Canada (OOS)

Next, I chose the LEGO Ninjago Garmatron (70504) because it has a very good discount and looks to be a fun little device. Originally $49.99, the set is now on sale for $36.99, which means it also receives free shipping. The set includes three mini figurines, several weapons, the ice shooter, and the battle machine, Garmatron. I could not find the set many other places in Canada, Chapters Indigo alone seems to sell it and their price is $49.95.

I have not seen the Lord of the Rings for some time, but I am trying to remember a pirate ship in the movies. Do you remember one? Anyway, this LEGO The Lord of the Rings Pirate Ship Ambush (79008) was $129.99 and is now on sale for $109.99. This is a huge set and I just want it because three of the mini figures are some of my favourite companions: Aragorn, Legolas Greenleaf, and Gimli. I found this set at Chapters Canada for $129.95 and at Amazon Canada for $159.99.

This LEGO The Lone Ranger Silver Mine Shootout (79110) would also be a very interesting set to own. I wish I could just steal Tonto right out of the set, he makes the coolest looking Lego mini figure ever – complete with the dead raven. In fact, all the mini figures in this set look awesome. Originally $89.99, the set is now on sale for $71.99. Chapters and mastermind Toys both have this set still priced at $89.95, but Amazon Canada comes in a very close second at $72.19 from a secondary seller but there is only one in stock.

There are many other sets on sale as well. Some of these sets will sell out quicker than others; you know how popular LEGO is these days.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Best Buy Canada: $60 Off Cuisinart 15pc Knife Block Set – Now $90

Posted by on January 18, 2015 at 5:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: $60 Off Cuisinart 15pc Knife Block Set – Now $90

Mmmmm general tao… why go to a restaurant when you can make your own? But you’re going to need a good knife and if you don’t already have one, then I found a great deal on the Cuisinart 15-pc knife block set at Best Buy. Originally priced at $149.99, you can now save $60 and get it for just $89.99.

Using a picture of delicious-looking General Tao when talking about a knife block set may seem like an odd choice but fact of the matter is that you need a good knife when handling meat. I’m not the one who handle the deboning and slicing chore or meat handling in my household, but every time my hubby does it, he makes sure to sharpen his knife beforehand!

The Cuisinart 15-pc knife block set comes with:

  • 8″ chef’s knife
  • 8″ bread knife
  • 5.5″ serrated utility knife
  • 5″ Santoku knife
  • 3.5″ pairing knife
  • Six 4.5″ steak knives
  • Sharpening steel
  • Shears (scissors)
  • Knife block

Just writing about this knife block set is making me want to get it for myself because the blade is made from high-carbon stainless steel and the handle is ergonomically designed. My hubby is a leftie, while I’m a rightie, so it would definitely make things easier for him.

Personally, I would ditch the knife block, however. I have heard it being mentioned numerous times on television daytime shows like The Doctors and Dr. Oz that these are the perfect habitat for bacteria. Perhaps it would be okay to use at first but it should definitely be discontinued after a couple of months.

Price comparing, I found this same knife block set retailing for its full price of $189.99 at Sears.

To get back to the topic of General Tao, if you have never made it yourself, it’s super easy and I definitely recommend General Tsao’s chicken recipe available on All Recipes. If you like cooking completely from scratch, then it’s the perfect recipe to follow or you could just do what I do and buy a bottle of General Tao sauce. Once your chicken is cooked, you simply douse it in the sauce and voila — restaurant quality General Tao! Best Buy Canada: $60 Off Cuisinart 15pc Knife Block Set – Now $90

Shipping Best ships orders over $25 for free, you’re sure to get this knife block set shipped to you at no extra cost.

Philips Bluetooth Speaker Was $70 | Now $30 @ Bestbuy.ca

Philips Bluetooth Speaker Was $70 | Now $30 @ Bestbuy.ca

Best Buy Canada has discounted the Philips SBT75 Bluetooth Speaker from $69.99 down to just $29.99. The red version is still in stock and waiting to find its way into your cart. Receive free shipping on the Philips speaker as the unit costs over $25.

This is an older model speaker, I assume, as no one really has it in stock anymore. When trying to price compare, I found it from a Marketplace seller on Amazon Canada for $107 plus shipping and from Amazon.com for $55.48 US in white. They also had black, but it was more expensive. Given these few price comparisons, I figured that best buy’s deal was worthy of a little attention.

This little speaker uses Bluetooth technology to wirelessly stream music between your music player and the speaker system. The built in lithium battery lasts up to five hours and can be recharged via the included USB cable. Charge the portable Philips speaker off your laptop or use a USB to wall charger connection like the Anker 40W 5-Port Family-Sized Desktop USB Charger I have mentioned a couple times before. I find it is faster to charge my wireless speakers using a wall charger.

I scouted out Amazon.com for reviews. With 114 reviews, the Philips SBT75 Bluetooth Speaker averages a 4.2/5 stars. One reviewer said:

I found this speaker at Best Buy on clearance for under $40. I thought when I purchased it that it would sound completely crappy, however, it sounds good. It doesn’t sound like an amazing home stereo system, but rather a really good sounding small speaker. It seems to last about 5 or 6 hours on a charge.

Do note that this speaker does not work for conference calls – you cannot use this for audio ‘in’ is my assumption. However, for the price it looks like a great purchase to play your tunes. The small size and five hour battery life allows you to throw it in your backpack, purse, or car and take it with you. I also like the colour: black is so easy to miss and white gets dirty very quickly. Red stands out and is noticed.

If you own this little speaker system, drop us a comment to tell us what you think of the unit.

Best Buy & Future Shop Canada: Kobo Arc 10.1″ Was $300 | Now $170

Best Buy & Future Shop Canada: Kobo Arc 10.1 Was $300 | Now $170

Best Buy and Future Shop have a hot deal on the Kobo Arc 10.1 16GB tablet that was $300 and now only $169.99. This is the lowest price I’ve ever seen this tablet.

This is seriously a great deal that I’m considering taking advantage of. My kids have Kobo Arc tablets in the 7″ version and they are great. I like having a larger screen, so I considered buying this tablet at full-price last year. Instead, I can save $130 and get it today until January 8th or until they sell out.

You might think of Kobo as just an e-reader but this Android tablet is just as good as any other Android tablet and even rivals iPad in my opinion at half the price. You can of course, use it as an e-reader as well, although it doesn’t have the same type of screen you see in e-readers that make them so great at the beach.

I personally like the 10″ because I use my tablet for recipes and I like to be able to see it larger. Of course, watching movies and surfing is also better on a larger screen and I still find this size portable enough to put in my purse.

This tablet has a 4.3 star rating out of five, with value being rated the highest and performance almost as good.

Impressive processing power under the hood makes the Arc 10 quite fast. A bit heavy, a bit boxy, but the back is well-designed and actually pretty cool-looking with a grippy coating.

I really like this device! I still have to play around with it a fair bit more to figure out all the things that it can do, but so far so good. The only thing is that the speakers don’t seem very loud sometimes, but that may just be me…

Interestingly enough, I don’t see this tablet on sale anywhere else, so this truly is the best price you’ll get it anywhere.

Shipping will be free from both stores, as you are exceeding the $25 free shipping threshold.

Best Buy Canada: 50% Off Cosco Funsport Play Yard – Only $40

Best Buy Canada: 50% Off Cosco Funsport Play Yard Only $40

Best Buy Canada is selling this Cosco Funsport Play Yard (Brown/Red/Orange) for just $39.99, which is 50% off the original price of $89.99. As the Cosco Play Yard is over $25, it qualifies for free shipping as well.

Future Shop has the same deal on as they are twin stores, but I have a very good reason to blog the deal from Best Buy. Best Buy Canada has a secondary deal on right now where, if you purchase $50 or more worth of toys (and this play yard is somehow included in that), you will receive a free Words With Friends Race Board Game valued at $9.99. You need to add that game to your cart of are buying $50 worth and want the game for free.

This play yard is exceedingly difficult to find in Canada for price comparison purposes. An eBay seller is offering the Cosco Play Yard for $69.99 with free shipping across Canada right now. There is also an Amazon Marketplace seller asking $87.40 plus $47.25 shipping! I checked out prices in the USA and the cheapest I could find was $39.40 US on rollback at Walmart.com (different print) but the regular price was more around $49.50 US to $55.99 US. With the current exchange rate, you are still getting a better deal at Best Buy (not to mention duty).

I asked my colleague Brooke what she thought of this deal as I am not too familiar with children’s accessories and this one is so hard to find in Canada. She said:

That’s good! I am not particularly fond of the brand, but the price is great especially if you are just using it for sleep overs at the in laws or something

She also pointed out that other brands, like Graco, tend to be much more expensive for similar units.

If you are on a budget and need a great little play pen (as they used to be called in my days), then this is the unit for you. The colours are a nice neutral and perfect for either gender. The floorboard is padded for comfort and safety. There are four mesh panels so you can always see your little one as well. The playpen also features wheels so you can easily glide the play yard from room to room when baby is sleeping. A carry bag is included so you can transport the pen for family visits or travel.
