Best Buy Canada: Sennheiser In-Ear Headphones MM30i $34.99 (Save $45)

Posted by on September 17, 2014 at 9:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: Sennheiser In Ear Headphones MM30i $34.99 (Save $45)

Pick up an inexpensive set of Sennheiser In-Ear MM 30i Headphones for just $34.99 at Best Buy Canada. Save $45 and receive free shipping on the earbuds.

I price compared these earbuds with a few places. They cost $64.63 @ Amazon Canada, $79.99 @ The Source Canada, and $39.99 (sale) @ Future Shop Canada, which is Best Buy’s sister store.

Okay, so something is pretty interesting about this set of Sennheiser headphones. I looked at them on four websites and only Future Shop and Best Buy average a mediocre rating on these earbuds. The Source and Amazon Canada average about a 3.5 – 4.5 star rating for the headset whereas Future Shop and Best Buy are averaging 2.5 – 2.7. I find that pretty curious. Either way, this headset has lovers and haters. For every bad review there is also a good review. For example, this person cannot say anything nice about them:

These headphone have much worse low end than the standard apple ones and in general rather poor sound quality. I would have expected better. If earphones could be returned I would!

Whereas this person thinks they are the best thing ever:

If you can get these on sale it’s a no brainer. But even at whole price It would be hard to beat. The detail and dynamics of these are amazing. Nice deep tight bass with sparkling highs. The noise cancelling on these is very impressive aswell. I work with loud equipment and once the music is on it goes away and you can hear only what your listening to with no sound degradation at all. The mic is a very nice feature to have aswell , it almost works to good. Picks up small details around you and I find I like to use 1 eat bud or it’s like u can’t hear your own voice while talking.

Therefore, it is hard for me to advise you one way or another. What I can say is that Sennheiser is a well-known brand in headphones and that this is a very good price for a pair of their earbuds. You will also receive free shipping on this headset as it reaches the minimum required from Best Buy Canada.

Quantities are limited; there are currently only 14 sets available in my own area. I am sure these will sell out way before the deal expires. If you buy them, let us know what you think!

Best Buy Canada: $10 Off 2 Nintendo 3DS Games

Posted by on September 16, 2014 at 6:30 PM

Best Buy Canada: $10 Off 2 Nintendo 3DS Games

Shop now at Best Buy to save on Nintendo 3DS games. For a limited time, you get a $10 discount with purchase of two Nintendo 3DS games valued at $34.99 each or more.

Let’s face it, when you own any kind of video console of handheld device, you don’t just buy one game. Typically, one is bought either as soon as one is released or even as soon as one gets boring. So although you will be spending a little more in one shot by getting 2 or more games, this is an opportunity for saving in the long-term… or short term depending on how often you buy games! Another major plus is that you won’t have to check out numerous times if you want to take advantage of this discount on the purchase of games or more. I added Super Smash Bros four times to my shopping cart to see if the discount would work and a $20 price reduction was indeed awarded.

Speaking of which, Super Smash Bros is definitely a game that you should consider pre-ordering right now as you most likely won’t get it on sale anytime soon. It is set to be released in a little over two weeks on October 3rd 2014 and is the next instalment in a series of games by the same title that were originally released in 1999. Plus, by pre-ordering this game and getting another one, you will have time to finish the latter, to then move on to the former once it is delivered to your order in October!

A game I would recommend is definitely Super Mario Bros 2. It’ $34.99 and is in the same game style as the old Super Mario games that most of us have grown up with and have fond memories of! In fact, here’s what someone had to say about it on Amazon‘s site:

Compared to the first NSMB for both the Wii, and DS, I found this one just slightly more difficult in terms of gameplay, and finding all the secrets. It still went by far too quickly and easily for myself, and other family members.

Since Best Buy automatically ships all orders over $25 for free, you’re sure to get both games (or more) for free as well.

(Xbox 360) Dead Island: Riptide Rigor Mortis Edition $20 Final Clearance @ Best Buy Canada

Posted by on September 13, 2014 at 9:00 PM

(Xbox 360) Dead Island: Riptide Rigor Mortis Edition $20 Final Clearance @ Best Buy Canada

Just this morning Ivan blogged about a $0.97 deal on Grand Theft Auto trilogy for Mac at Best Buy but I have found another deal worthy of your attention. While supplies last undoubtedly, you can pick up Dead Island: Riptide Rigor Mortis edition for Xbox 360 for just $19.97. It’s on final clearance, so once it’s gone, you won’t be able to take advantage of this low price anymore!

I have to admit that this is the first I have ever heard of this popular game but for those of you in the dark about it as well, it’s essentially an RPG game that features an open world infested with zombies. Unlike the initial edition of this game, this one features a first-person perspective, extra game play mechanics along with new characters, vehicles and much more. For just $20, it’s definitely well worth the price, especially since the game comes in a travel suitcase packaging as well as the following collectibles:

  • Zombie hula girl bobble figurine
  • Severed hand bottle opener/ fridge magnet
  • Bungalow key with wooden tag
  • Box art & digital strategy map

Although there are no reviews for it on Best Buy’s site, I did find the following 5 stars out of 5 stars review at Future Shop, where you can also get it for the same price right now:

This is a very good game… Great graphics, audio performance (Especially for the Xbox), and story. They put a lot of work into this game with the culture of the Island, audio unlike many others As for the collectibles- If you are a Dead Island fan or know you’ll love this game and have the spare money… Go for it, the items are very detailed and I found them a lot better than other collector’s edition’s items (Like Black Ops, Black Ops 2, etc.)

On Amazon, this same edition of the game is actually double the price at $39.09 and even then it’s on sale from a regular price of $79.99. It also has over 20 reviews with a general consensus of close to 5 stars out of 5! I also found this game for $79.99 at the Microsoft Store.

Shipping is only free on orders over $25, so you can either pay $1.99 for shipping or better yet, grab a filler item like a $5 DVD. In fact, I found a slew of great titles at just $4.99 like Jerry Maguire, 50 First Dates (special edition), Blind Side, Inception, and countless others. You could even pre-order a special version of Godzilla on sale for just $18.99 as it comes with a bonus disc.

Best Buy Canada: Grand Theft Auto Trilogy For The Mac | Only $0.97!

Posted by on September 13, 2014 at 12:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: Grand Theft Auto Trilogy For The Mac | Only $0.97!

Do you remember when the Grand Theft Auto name was new, fresh, and exciting? It was also very controversial, due to this video games’ open – ended gameplay that allowed you to do essentially anything you wanted to. Graphic content aside, the GTA series of video games still continues to be very popular (let’s not forget how huge the release of GTA V was). For those that are looking to go a little old – school and play the Grand Theft Auto III series again, you can do so for an extremely affordable price! At this time, you can purchase the Grand Theft Auto III trilogy for your Mac computer on Best Buy’s website for just $0.97 (plus $3.99 shipping).

This package for the Mac includes 3 games in total: Grand Theft Auto III, Grant Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Originally released for the Sony PS2 system, these games eventually exploded in popularity and ended up being on the original Xbox system, PC and Mac computers.

For 3 games, this is a great price. The games still hold up to this day, though I have personally gotten tired of the GTA gameplay after so many years of playing these titles. I still remember purchasing GTA: Vice City for the PS2 when it was just released, and I can still attest to it having one of the best soundtracks that I ever heard in a video game.

This item is on final clearance, so once it’s gone, it’s gone. You can find the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on Amazon for $14.97 (plus shipping).  I’ve included a snippet of a review from a satisfied Amazon customer below:

The overall value of this game is great. For the price these games are set at, Amazon gives you these for a very good deal. The price is great and you get a “bang for your buck”. The extent of how much you can do in this game is phenomenal and you can basically do whatever you want as if you were in a real city.

Get it while it lasts, folks! I hope you all enjoy your Saturday, Bargainmoosers!

Best Buy/ Future Shop Canada: PS4 Wireless Controller – Just $50 (Reg. $65)

Posted by on September 10, 2014 at 3:30 PM

Best Buy/ Future Shop Canada: PS4 Wireless Controller Just $50 (Reg. $65)Back in August, I blogged about a $15 discount on the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 wireless controller at Amazon but given that the deal didn’t last very long at all, I thought I would update all of you moosers with another such deal. This time, you can get the PS4 controller for $50 at either Best Buy or Future Shop, but hurry because this deal expires in two days. The original retail price of this remote was of $65.

Whether you already have a PlayStation 4 console or are looking to get one, this deal is definitely worth taking advantage of ASAP, especially if you have been wanting to have a total of 4 controllers. To give you an idea, if you are looking to get 3 extra controllers on top of the one that came with the console for a total of four, then you would be looking at paying $150 instead of $195, which is a total of $45 in savings. Add to that taxes and you will be looking at even more savings!

Even better is that you don’t have to get the extra controller(s) in all black either are you can choose between black, glacier (white) or wave blue. Sadly pink hasn’t been added to the variety of colours yet as the PlayStation 3 had been but here’s to hoping that it gets added soon! Best Buy/ Future Shop Canada: PS4 Wireless Controller Just $50 (Reg. $65)

On average, the PS4 remote control has also garnered 4 stars out 5, with reviews like this one:

The ps4 controller is awesome, feels amazing, thumb sticks are tight and accurate. By far better than the Xbox controllers and any pervious PS controller.

Although hailed as the most comfortable controller released so far by PlayStation, the biggest complaint from the gaming community has been with regards to the battery life. However, you can rest assured that on top of easily recharging it, you can also try a number of other solution like dimming the lightbar, turning of the sound on the controller, and enabling the auto-off remote’s auto-off feature. There is also the option of turning off the remote’s vibration but personally, I wouldn’t try that as it does serve to enhance game play. In fact, you could take advantage of these deals to get an extra controller, so that you can swap out when one needs recharging.

The cheapest you can get this remote anywhere else right now is at Amazon for $59.99, which makes both Best Buy’s and Future Shop’s discounts that much better!

Your order is also sure to qualify for free shipping as both Best Buy and Future Shop automatically ships orders totalling over $25 for free.

Best Buy Canada: Microsoft Mobile 3500 Now $15 (Was $30)

Posted by on September 7, 2014 at 8:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: Microsoft Mobile 3500 Now $15 (Was $30)

We have not seen a good deal on these mice for about a year, so take advantage of this sale from Best Buy Canada. Get 50% off the Microsoft Mobile 3500 Wireless BlueTrack Mouse (GMF-00009) in your choice of grey or black.

I found the grey and the black on sale, yet the red in the same model is still full price at $29.95. The other two are discounted to just $14.99 each.

This mobile mouse is mid-sized to fit in your hand comfortably and yet slip into your laptop bag as a convenient travel accessory. The nano-transmitter plugs into a USB port on your laptop for plug and play usability. When not in use, the nano-receiver tucks back into the underside of the mouse.

You can get up to eight months’ worth of life out of your mouse battery (one AA battery required) before it needs to be replaced or recharged. A handy battery life indicator will let you know when the batteries are low. The mouse also comes with an on/off switch for prolonging battery life. However, some reviewers say that the battery life can be as low as one month:

Great mouse I have had one of these before this is my second one I always had great results. battery life should last about one month but the tracking technology is amazing I usually use rechargeable batteries in mine

It probably depends on how many hours a day you are using the mouse. Certainly, rechargeable batteries are the way to go.

The reviews on this device tend to be all over the place. Some people say it is the best thing ever, others have bought lemons, and others say it is decent but not great. It is really hard to pinpoint quality when reviews are all over the place. One thing to keep in mind though is you get what you pay for in many ways. This is not a high-end mouse that will blow your mind. It is an inexpensive wireless mouse great for occasional computer use like checking email, browsing Facebook, and twitting on Twitter. This is not a gaming mouse nor should it be expected to perform like one.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more. Buying two mice will put you over that limit so go in on your order with a friend.

Best Buy: ObusForme 4 in 1 Cervical Pillow Was $70 Now $25 (Expired)

Have you been sleeping comfortably lately? Is it time for you finally to invest in a new pillow? Today’s deal at Best Buy can help you make the decision to purchase a new pillow that’s ideal for you that much easier! Until September 11th, you can get the highly rated ObusForme 4 – in – 1 Cervical Pillow at Best Buy for just $24.99 (plus $5.00 for shipping)! It normally costs $69.99, so this is a good deal for Bargainmoosers!

This ergonomically designed pillow can help accommodate those who need some added comfort in their bed. With four different sleeping options available, the ObusForme 4 – in – 1 Cervical Pillow can help relieve neck pain as well.

For years, I used the same pillow. I just didn’t think I needed to get another one. However, the signs that I needed a new one were there – I was eventually using two old pillows stacked on top of each other just so I can have some proper neck support. I eventually bought a new pillow, and what a difference that made!

If your pillow makes it hard for you to get comfortable and cozy in your bed, it may be time to get a new one. In fact, my girlfriend ordered this exact pillow from Best Buy this morning!

On Buyobus, this pillow costs $90, and it’s $69 on the Obusforme website. There’s a reason why this pillow retails for a higher price than the average pillow – it has great reviews from many satisfied customers! Listed below is a snippet of a review from some satisfied Best Buy customers:

Your neck will thank you…This is one of the best pillows I have used in a long time. Most comfortable pillow ever.

I sleep on my side all night and find it gives good support to my neck and head. I’m sleeping much better than with the previous pillow I had. I like a firm pillow and this fits the bill.

This sale won’t be around for much longer, so if you’re considering a new pillow, now’s the time to get one. Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers, and enjoy your Sunday! Pay $5 shipping for the pillow or get free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

BestBuy.ca – Samsonite Fashionaire 3-Piece 4-Wheeled Luggage Set – Just $299

Posted by on September 3, 2014 at 9:00 AM

BestBuy.ca Samsonite Fashionaire 3 Piece 4 Wheeled Luggage Set – Just $299

If you’re like me and you’re tired, annoyed and just wish to get rid of your old luggage set (or give them a Viking funeral as I’m tempted to do every time I look at them), why not take advantage of this fantastic offer, available until September 4, for Samsonite Fashionare Collection 3-Piece 4-Wheeled Luggage Set.

I took a trip to the UK a couple of months ago with my old luggage set, a wobbly, barely rolling piece of antique I’ve had for years. I was staying with a friend and she lives up a steep hill, and every second of the way up I had to fight the damn luggage because it just didn’t feel like rolling that day, and when it finally did, it wobbled so much I pretty much had to drag the damn thing up the hill. By the time we got to her place, I was tired and had murderous ideas towards the luggage.

I’m getting this set, the offer is too good to pass by, and you should do so too. Even if the beige floral pattern isn’t my thing, for this fantastic offer I’d take it in garish pink with neon highlights. The complete set sells for $799, a buck shy of $800, and now you can get it for $500 less than that. It’s massive on savings for a top-of-the-line set of luggage.

  • They’re durable, made from ABS/polycarbonate, which here you should read as “they can take a beating and keep going.”
  • The interior has straps built-in to keep the contents of your bag from moving around too much or bunch up.
  • The inside of the lid has an additional zipped compartment, if you need more space for your things.
  • The wheels spin, allowing you to maneuver through the airport and people, and not have to adjust your grip or even lift the luggage, as I had to do repeatedly during my last trip.
  • I’m a bit paranoid, I admit it, so I’m always concerned about the safety of my stuff while I travel, so I have padlocks, with keys or combinations, so the fact this Samsonite Fashionare set has built-in locks just sells it to me even more.

Supplies and time are extremely limited, so stop reading and just like me, get rid of your old luggage and replace it with this Samsonite Fashionare 3-Piece 4-Wheeled Luggage set for $299 only Bestbuy.ca and just until the 4th of September! Shipping will be free as this purchase is more than $25.

Best Buy Canada: Canon MF4770N Laser Printer For $69.99 (Expired)

Posted by on September 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Best Buy Canada: Canon MF4770N Laser Printer For $69.99 (Expired)

Printer ink can be quite a pain to deal with. A few days ago, I just had to replace the black ink in my all-in-one desktop printer after roughly a month of usage. In other words, I spent roughly $70 on printer ink in 60 days (taxes included), and considering the fact that I barely print out any colour pages, this particular deal intrigues me. For a limited time (until tomorrow – September 2nd), you can get a Canon MF4770N all-in-one monochrome laser printer with fax capabilities at Best Buy for $69.99 – that’s $130 off of the regular price of $199.99. Since it’s over $25, this deal also qualifies for free shipping.

Laser printers have many benefits. Not only do their ink/toner cartridges last much longer than desktop printers, but they’re great for users needing to print oodles of pages at a time. This is why so many businesses have laser printers – they’re just more efficient. Though you won’t be able to print colour pages, that shouldn’t bother professionals (such as myself Best Buy Canada: Canon MF4770N Laser Printer For $69.99 (Expired) ) that mainly need to print documents on a regular basis.

Some of the features of this Canon MF4770N laser printer include scanning, copy, and fax capabilities, rapid printing speeds (up to 24 pages a minute), the ability to hold up to 250 sheets of paper at a time, and networking support. It even has a quiet mode function, which I think is pretty handy. Printers are generally loud, so this is a welcome change.

Even though many people nowadays wouldn’t really have a need for this printer’s fax capabilities, what makes this a great deal to me is the fact that it’s a laser printer. When you eventually have to replace the toner cartridge on this printer, it seems like Amazon has the best deal on getting new ink, since it’ll only cost you $15.99 plus shipping (unless you get a minimum order of $25 – then you can get free shipping from Amazon).

If you were looking to purchase this multifunction laser printer on Amazon.ca, it would cost you $99.99. Tiger Direct sells the Canon MF4770N for $129.99. At $69.99, Best Buy provides you with the best deal on this multifunction laser printer. Listed below is part of a review of this printer from Amazon:

This is the best printer I’ve ever owned. It does it all, and does it well. It barely uses any power in energy saving mode, yet wakes up and begins printing a document before I get to the printer. Scanning can be a bit confusing if you haven’t done it in a while, but usually a sheet fed scanner costs more than this device. Copying is super simple. I don’t have a land line, so I’ve got nothing to say regarding the Fax capability, but who faxes anything anymore? The Ethernet interface is quite handy, allowing me to consolidate onto one device.

If you still haven’t purchased a printer for back to school, now’s the time to get one!

Best Buy Canada: FILA Casual Mens Watch Was $83 now $30 & Free Shipping (Expired)

With the influx of cell phones in our society, you may notice that there are not as many people wearing watches nowadays. After all, since you’re able to already “tell time” by pulling your cell phone out of your pocket, I can understand why people may not find it important to wear a watch. However, isn’t that what makes something stylish? You can stand out from the crowd in a positive way by rocking a high quality watch, and today’s deal at Best Buy can help you do just that – while saving some of your hard earned cash! Today’s online deal at Best Buy is for a FILA casual men’s watch (38 – 030 – 002) with a black band and black dial, which you can get for only $29.99 (plus free shipping). What makes this deal monumental is the fact that it’s $53 off of Best Buy’s regular price, and you won’t find it for this cheap anywhere else!

Though this deal is valid until September 2nd, it’s important to remember that quantities are limited, so get this deal while you can. FILA is one of the most reputable brands out there, and this casual men’s watch looks sleek, sophisticated, and expensive.

At $29, you’re saving big – after all, it costs $82.98 at Future Shop. The lowest price I’m able to find this FILA casual men’s watch for is $75 at Shop.ca, which is still $45 more than the price you’d be paying at Best Buy. In fact, this deal is so enticing that I’m going to actually purchase one! I haven’t owned a watch for about 12 years (like many people, I stopped wearing one when I got my cell phone), so I actually look forward to having this FILA watch occupy my wrist. It can also help you look professional at your workplace, which can always be beneficial. Here is a review from a satisfied Future Shop customer:

“For anyone who wants a good basic watch this is a good choice. The band material is a rubbery type substance, may be silicone. During this time of year (late fall) it is not a problem but during the summer it may become sweaty. Knowing what I know now, I would still buy this watch and would consider giving one as a gift. I would also be interested in buying another FILA model sometime.”

Quantities are limited, so get this watch while you still can! Good luck, Bargainmoosers, and enjoy your holiday!

Stargate SG1, Atlantis, Universe DVDs: $7.99 Per Season @ Best Buy Canada

Posted by on August 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Stargate SG1, Atlantis, Universe DVDs: $7.99 Per Season @ Best Buy Canada

If there are any Moosers who are fans of the Stargate universe, then check out this deal on various Stargate DVDs on Best Buy Canada. You can pick up many of the individual seasons for only $7.99 each!

You can choose from Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, or Stargate Universe. The DVDs of each season are all $7.99 each… the blu-rays are more expensive coming in at $14.99, with some not being available online.

Now, the protestors amongst you would question as to why you don’t just watch these online, if you have the likes of Netflix or other streaming services. But if you’re a fan, sometimes you just want to own a physical copy of certain shows. Also, not all the shows might be available on the service you rent… and you won’t necessarily be paying for that subscription for ever, either. Having hard copies of the DVDs is sometimes a nice choice to make.

One of the first ever VIDEOS I purchase was the original Stargate Movie. Remember the one? It was the 1994 release starring James Spader and Kurt Russell. I LOVED that movie. That led me to watch the TV series, which I also fell in love with. I have to say that Stargate SG-1 was probably one of my all-time favourite shows. I actually watched all of them through Netflix mailing DVDs to your home, to watch and return… in the old days!

I’ve watched all five seasons of Stargate Atlantis too. I enjoyed it, but it definitely was not as memorable as Stargate SG1. And as for Stargate Universe – I have not watched it! And guess what Netflix says:

Stargate Universe is unavailable to stream

Ha ha! This would be an ideal time for me to buy the DVDs and catch up on it.

What about shipping?

If you spend $25 or more @ Best Buy Canada, you will get free shipping to your home. If you’re buying a few seasons of the above show, then you’re good for free shipping.

Babybjorn Active Front Baby Carrier Was $180 Now Only $80 @ Best Buy Canada

Posted by on August 31, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Babybjorn Active Front Baby Carrier Was $180 Now Only $80 @ Best Buy Canada

For those of you with young babies, or perhaps expecting one to arrive soon, consider the deal on this Babybjorn Active Front Baby Carrier in black. Originally priced at $179.99, best Buy has reduced the price by $100 down to only $79.99. And as that is over the minimum threshold, you’ll also get free shipping to your home.

Here on Bargainmoose, we’ve seen similar BabyBjorn carriers drop to around this price, this is almost as low as I have seen them go. Price comparing this particular model elsewhere, they’re selling the same thing for $180 on Snugglebugz, $180 on TJsKids, $90 for the alternate colour choice at SafetySuperstore. Now would be a good time to buy this from Best Buy Canada.

A bit about this carrier:

The BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Active is a sturdy baby carrier, perfect for parents on the go who want to be able to carry baby for longer periods of time.

Baby Wearing is becoming a heck of a lot more popular nowadays. I often see men and women walking round sporting BabyBjorn carriers… and I am even seeing many more people with baby slings now too.

I can recommend this type of baby carrier, I have almost the same BabyBjorn one – I think the only difference with mine is the colour. For my first baby, I used it A LOT when out and about, it was incredibly useful. However, my second baby was a bit heavier and chunkier, and she just didn’t feel as comfortable in the carrier so I found that I used it a little less the second time round.

I will say that these style of Baby Bjorn carriers aren’t amazing for everyone. A friend of mine couldn’t really use it, she found that this particular style of baby carrier just did not agree with her lower back. I had no trouble whatsoever in that regard. We’re all just different shapes and sizes, so this BabyBjorn carrier is probably not going to be ideal for everyone. As for my friend, she ended up using the sling style carrier without a hitch.

15.6″ Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop: Save $200, Only $499 @ BestBuy / FutureShop (Expired)

Posted by on August 30, 2014 at 1:00 PM

15.6 Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop: Save $200, Only $499 @ BestBuy / FutureShop (Expired)

If you’re on the hunt for a reasonable priced laptop, consider the deal on this 15.6″ Dell Inspiron 15 – there’s a $200 saving on it right now if you’re buying from either Best Buy or Future Shop. Down from $699.99, you can pick up this Dell laptop for only $499.99.

The above Dell Inspiron laptop comes with free shipping from either of those stores.

As for the specification, I’ll highlight a few of the more important facts:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4210U   (1.7 GHz)
  • Hard Drive: 1 TB
  • RAM: 8 GB DDR3
  • Native Screen Resolution: 1366 x 768
  • OS: Windows 8.1 (64-Bit)

Very good price for an i5 machine!

Just note that this laptop doesn’t have a disc drive… but who needs one of those, these days?

If you are buying this Dell laptop, it doesn’t make much difference as to which store from which you make your purchase. However, if you are buying from FutureShop, the sites offers you a few bundle deals which you might want to add on to your purchase, such as:

Just add those to your cart along with the laptop, for the bundle pricing.

From what I can see, this is the 5000 series of Dell Inspiron laptops. Their basic one with a similar (identical?) specification – the price starts at $579.99 on the Dell website itself, so it’s definitely a much better price to buy through Best Buy or FutureShop.

Perhaps if you are about to head back to school or university, or have a family member who is, this could be an ideal study aid, in a pretty decent price range.

Best Buy Canada: $100 Off All Apple iPad Airs + Free Gifts

Best Buy Canada: $100 Off All Apple iPad Airs + Free Gifts

Best Buy Canada is offering $100 off all Apple iPad Air tablets just in time for school. They also have oodles of fantastic promotions piled on top of this discount, including a free gift bundle with your tablet purchase (valued at $60) and more.

The best deal here is going for the smallest device. Purchase the Apple iPad Air – 16GB – Wi-Fi – Space Grey or Silver for only $419.99 instead of $519.99. I price compared with Staples, Apple, and Walmart who all have the iPad Air at full price (though Walmart is $1 cheaper than original full price). Apple Canada will be coming out with new iPad models this fall, thus I assume that Best Buy Canada is getting a head start by dropping their prices before other sellers.

Not only will you save $100 off your iPad, you will also receive a free Insignia tablet cleaner and six months of McAfee LiveSafe kit with the purchase of any iPad ($60 value). The tablet cleaner will be added to your cart and a promo code for the McAfee redemption will be emailed to you within two to four weeks of your purchase.

The savings do not stop there. You will receive 50% off any school supplies that you purchase with your tablet. This is a huge deal as Best Buy Canada already has good discounts on many school supplies. This Sharpie Neon 5-Pack Assorted Fine Point Markers is currently 50% off at only $4.95. Add the tablet to your cart first and then add the school supplies. When you add the sharpie pack, it comes down to $2.48. Take advantage of this discount on more expensive items like Desk Organizers and Dry-Erase Board Supplies.

There are several other promotions going on including:

The same $100 off iPad Air tablets offer is available at Future Shop Canada, but some of the bonus offers are different. They are not offering the extra 50% off school supplies for one thing, which makes this deal so alluring.

This promotion has many extra features to it that make it so much better than just $100 off an iPad. The extra 50% off school supplies is my favourite offer, and the free bundle with purchase is nice too.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Best Buy: Trade 2 Select PS4 Or Xbox One Games & Get A $60 Gift Card! (Expired)

Best Buy: Trade 2 Select PS4 Or Xbox One Games & Get A $60 Gift Card! (Expired)

Looking to get some money back for the video games that are collecting dust on your shelf? How about a trade for a $60 Best Buy gift card? Best Buy is currently featuring a deal where you can trade in 2 select PS4 or Xbox One games and score a $60 Best Buy gift card- not too shabby! This promotion is valid from August 22 until August 28, so bring your games in before it’s too late!

To see the games that you can trade in for this promotion, click the link above. A few examples:

  • Titanfall (Xbox One)
  • Infamous Second Son (Ps4)
  • Watch Dogs (Both)

I personally haven’t been too familiar with Best Buy’s used video games policies, since they’re relatively new to it – especially when compared to long-time established video game giants such as EB Games and Gamestop. However, when you see what some of the abysmal trade-in values are for relatively new products that you bring into EB Games, the value of this promotion from Best Buy can truly be appreciated.

For example, EB Games has a promotion where you can get $70 trade in credit (only if you use it on one of 6 select games) if you trade in 3 games worth $10 or more. Unfortunately, finding games that are worth $10 or more by EB Games’ standards can be enough of a challenge on its own. On top of that, this Best Buy promotion allows you to use the $60 gift card on anything in their store!

I haven’t been able to justify the purchase of any of these next-gen video game consoles- yet. Personally, I’m still waiting for that must-have game to eventually be released for the PS4 or the Xbox One. I’ve been very happy with my Wii U so far, due to the fact that Mario Kart 8’s addictive online matches have me constantly turning on my console.

As for the PS4 and Xbox One, it appears as if Sony is starting to edge out Microsoft, as they have received some extra momentum after their recent E3 showings. At this annual video game conference, it just seemed to me like the PS4 had many great gems on the horizon, including Little Big Planet 3, Uncharted 4, and the much-anticipated Playstation Now streaming service. With the downfall of video rental stores, this streaming service will allow gamers to try out games for days at a time before they decide to purchase them – definitely a cool feature, even though it has a monthly subscription cost. Remember- it used to cost $3.99 plus tax to rent games from Blockbuster! Not do be outdone, the Xbox One does have Halo 5 coming out, so that will certainly get gamers talking about the console.

To take advantage of this Best Buy promotion, simply go to a customer service desk at a participating Best Buy location and bring your PS4 and/or Xbox One games with you.
