Lowe’s Canada: Char-Broil Tru-Infrared 3-Burner Propane Gas Grill Was $500 | Now $299

Lowes Canada: Char Broil Tru Infrared 3 Burner Propane Gas Grill Was $500 | Now $299

Lowe’s Canada is having a mega anniversary sale and they have pretty much everything on sale. If you are doing any changes to your home, you might want to shop this sale. If you just want to get a good ol’ gas grill, then this is definitely the sale for you. Right now, Lowe’s has the Char-Broil Tru-Infrared commercial 3-burner liquid propane gas grill on sale from a regular price of $499, on sale for $374. But, I don’t like to just stop there, so I found a coupon codeCB20 – that will get you another 20% off your Char-Broil grill purchase. This brings the total right down to $299.20, giving you a total saving of $200!

Last year we bought ourselves a new grill for $200 from Home Depot. It has no extra features – it is just a BBQ. If  we would have waited for a good sale like this, we could have got this feature-filled grill for only another $100.

Sleek-looking, this liquid propane gas grill also boasts a side burner, so you can do all of your cooking outdoors. It has a stainless steel exterior with porcelain-coated cast iron grates. But, the biggest selling feature is the Tru-Infrared technology. This means that it uses direct radiant heat that spreads evenly over your entire grill. It protects the food from those flare-ups that completely ruin your steak when you are rushing inside to get another beer.

What I also like about it is the surefire electronic ignition that makes it super easy to start the entire BBQ. It also has a fully enclosed cabinet so you can keep your tools with the grill and not have to worry about animals having some licks of them when you aren’t looking.

It has no reviews on Lowe’s site, but it does have a four out of five star rating.

Walmart has a somewhat similar model, but it is out of stock, selling for $348. Home Depot also has a similar model selling for $549. It is hard to tell exactly why there is a $200 difference in models. The BTU’s are different for each BBQ and the one for sale at Lowe’s has 25,000 BTU.

Shipping will also be free on this item, so you don’t have to worry about any extra charges added to this deal.

Sears Canada: $100 Off Broil King Signet 90 Propane Grill – Now $650 & NO TAX With Promo Code

Posted by on April 4, 2015 at 12:30 PM

Sears Canada: $100 Off Broil King Signet 90 Propane Grill Now $650 & NO TAX With Promo Code

Summer is right around the corner and if you need a BBQ, then the Broil King Signet 90 family-size propane grill is $100 off at Sears right now. Originally priced at $749.99, it’s now $649.99 and even better is that you can use the Sears coupon code: 941612317 to save an extra 15% on it.

A couple of days ago, Avigayil blogged about Sears’ Save The Tax Event on right now until April 6th. I definitely didn’t expect for the coupon code above to work on the BBQ but was very pleasantly surprised when it was indeed applied at checkout and the subtotal stayed at $649.99.

The Broil King Signet 90 propane grill features:

  • 4 stainless steel Dual-Tube burners
  • stainless steel control panel
  • 500 sq. in. main cooking surface (695 sq. in. total cooking surface)
  • 50,000 BTU main burner & 10,000 BTU cast brass side burner

Out of 12 reviews, this barbecue even has 4.8/5 stars! Here’s what one reviewer had to say about it:

We looked around at several options, but found the Broil King Signet 90 was the best value for money and it also came ready assembled. When the lid is opened you have complete access to the whole grilling area, which is excellent. Use it regular, did a great lamb rack the other day.

A number of other Broil King barbecues are also currently on sale, depending on the size and power you need. Another great contender is the Broil King 440 propane barbecue, which also has 4.8/5 stars and a total of 12 reviews. Originally priced at $849.99, it can be yours for just $749.99 with no tax when you enter the Sears coupon code mentioned above.

Shipping also appears to be free. Usually, shipping is free on orders over $99 at Sears but since a barbecue is quite a large and heavy item, I’m skeptical as to whether it would truly be shipped for free. I added this BBQ to my cart and got all the way to the last part of the checkout without any extra shipping fees being added, so it does seem legit! Just to make sure, you could have it shipped to your local Sears store instead but you would need to go pick it up.

Lowe’s Canada: Up To 55% off BBQ Accessories

Posted by on March 9, 2015 at 1:53 PM

Lowes Canada: Up To 55% off BBQ Accessories

Although I find it sad that I think -2 makes for a gorgeous day, I can’t ask for a lot more in March in Ontario. Well, I could, I just probably wouldn’t get it! I had a friend on my Facebook get so excited about the rising temperatures we are experiencing this week, that he’s cleared off his deck and having a deck party this weekend. I personally would not go that far, but it got me thinking about all the BBQs that are going to get dusted off in the next little while, including mine. It also got me wondering where my BBQ fork is! I don’t have to worry about it too much, as Lowe’s has some great BBQ accessories on clearance, with up to 55% off. There are some hot deals to be had to get you prepped for deck season.

The first deal I’m going to alert you to is the Char-Broil 4-piece commercial series tool set. It includes spatula, basting brush, tongs, fork and a storage bag. Regularly $49.99, this set is now down to $29.99. The tongs lock and the basting head is removable for easy cleaning. These are made from commercial grade stainless steel and heat resistant plastic. This means that you know they will last and get through summer after summer of use.

I couldn’t find competitor prices for any of these accessories, but having a look around, I see that good quality BBQ tools are not cheap. I think this tool set would make the perfect inexpensive Father’s Day gift.

If you wanted a less expensive tool set, you could get the Master Forge 4-piece stainless steel grilling set. It comes with a spatula, tongs, basting brush and a headlamp. I’m sort of at a loss as to what you’d use the headlamp for, except I guess for night grilling. This set was $19.99 and is now $12.99.

I’ve heard that the best way to BBQ is to have a nice, clean grill and for that you need a Char-Broil nylon grill brush. This one also has a scraper blade. Regularly $14.99, it is now $9.99.

If you like to do fish on the grill, a Master Forge non-stick grilling basket could be your best friend. Regularly $10.99, it is now on sale for only $4.99, making it 55% off.

You’ll get free shipping at a $49 spend, so you’ll want to stock your cart with a few accessories to avoid those fees.

Chapters Indigo Canada: 30% Off Slider Press & Plenty Of Other BBQ Accessories

Posted by on June 5, 2014 at 8:30 PM

Chapters Indigo Canada: 30% Off Slider Press & Plenty Of Other BBQ Accessories

Awesome Father’s Day deal alert! Save 30% on the slider press at Chapters Indigo and get it for just $4.20 (reg. $6) as part of their sale on BBQ accessories.

Use it to make round patties of either 1oz, 2oz or 3oz. Once all the meat has been stuffed inside, you can easily get it back out by pushing the base upwards and releasing the mechanism. You may be thinking that you can easily do this all by yourself without the help of some little contraption but fact of the matter is that if you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift, then an important factor to remember here is that dads love simplicity, especially grillin’ dads who just don’t have time to form perfectly round patties all the while juggling getting the fire going and making sure nothing burns.

A BBQ sauce set could also make for a great gift, especially since it’s on sale right now for just $17.50 instead of its regular price of $25. It comes with the following three sauces: Kansas City-Style Honey-Apple Cider, Texas-Style Rum-Molasses, and Kentucky-Style Bourbon-Black Pepper. The last one on the list is definitely one I would want to try as it’s noted to be “smoky and sweet with just a hint of heat”. Sounds absolutely delicious, doesn’t it?

You can even get a Jamie Oliver grill for just $84 (reg. $120). Since pictures can often be misleading, keep in mind that this grill is 16 inches in both diameter and height. I could see it being perfect for camping or perhaps even a quick trip to any park that allows barbecuing.

In fact, the burger press is the one that I originally set out to write about as it can be used to make either 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 round patties and although it’s out of stock online, it could be worth looking for it in-stores. Keep in mind though that the 30% discount only applies to BBQ merchandise sold online only.

As always, all orders over $25 automatically qualify for free shipping. If ever you need a filler item to reach this threshold, it’s always a good idea to check the sale section.

The best deal I see is on the most expensive unit, considering it is a percentage off, plus $75 off on the larger units. The Char-Broil commercial TRU-infrared 4-burner (40,000 BTU) liquid propane gas grill with side burner is the cream of the crop BBQ, with a large price tag, but we can make that worth it for you. It has a regular price of $599, but is on sale for $479.20. Add the $75 coupon and pay just $404.20, giving you a total savings of almost $200!

If a top-of-the-line unit is not in your budget, check out the Char-Broil commercial TRU-infrared 2-burner (20,000 BTU) liquid propane gas grill. With a regular price of $299.99, it is reduced to $239.20, and further reduced to $189.20 with the $50 off coupon. This one saves you over $100!

Make sure you check the available SKUs on the coupon, as not all BBQs apply. Get all of these Lowes coupons in the forum.

How To Get The Best Bang For Your Buck With Your Next BBQ

Posted by on May 26, 2014 at 8:00 PM

How To Get The Best Bang For Your Buck With Your Next BBQ

The Robinson family needs a new barbeque.  The last one we bought nearly 6 years ago has bit the dust, and it really hasn’t stood the test of time.   Being the extremely frugal Bargainmooser that I am, I need to figure out how to stretch my dollars on the cost of a grill so I can afford some delicious Costco steaks!  Also, as much as I love my hubby, his research skills kind of suck; he’s driven by the manly allure of fire and doesn’t care as much about minute details like cost or warranties.  Truthfully, barbequing is my husband’s domain, so I know next to nothing about a) barbeques in general b) where to purchase one.  Should I purchase the BBQ on sale this week at Canadian Tire or a specialty BBQ store?  Do I get a propane or gas grill?  I literally have no idea.   Let’s figure out what I should consider when purchasing our BBQ so that I can get the best bang for my buck.

Charcoal vs. gas

According to this article from, there are benefits and drawbacks to both charcoal and gas BBQs.  There are many charcoal BBQ aficionados who profess their undying love for charcoal grills because of the authentic smokey flavour it imparts, and because of the allure of cooking on an open fire.  On the other hand, gas grills are extremely easy to use, and  take about half the time to heat up.  Check out this awesome, extremely in depth article comparing them both from Amazingribs.  This article compares the taste and texture of different meats in different grills, and the bottom line is if you are just using it for hot dogs and burgers, either grill is fine.  If you’re looking for excellent taste with meat that you are grilling long and slow (think poultry, roasts etc), charcoal is the way to go for the best flavour.

In terms of cost, depending on the model you purchase, charcoal grills are generally less expensive than gas grills.  The fuel costs, however, vary widely.   The cost of gas per use can be as little as a few pennies to under a dollar.  The cost of charcoal, however, is much more expensive and can cost up to $5 per use, depending on the length of the cook.  Plus there are various types and flavours of charcoal to consider.  Check out this article from Canadian Barbecue for an overview of different types of charcoal.  In the end most experts say that the costs even out since the cost of charcoal is so much more expensive than gas.  This handy dandy barbeque selector tool from the Home Depot is an easy way to figure out which grill model is a good fit for your budget and for your cooking needs.  According to Consumer Reports you can expect to spend between $300- $500 for a good quality gas barbeque.  From my research on charcoal models, you can expect to spend anywhere from $100-$500 for a good quality grill.

Where was it manufactured?

We always evaluate where the products we buy were manufactured.  From the cars we buy to the barbeques we purchase, where products are manufactured is one factor to consider.  A few grills which are manufactured in North America include Vermont Castings and Napoleon.  Although I’m not completely against purchasing a grill which was manufactured in China, I’d rather support a company that employs North American workers.

Many of the grills I have looked at include a warranty of some sort.  Some claim they have a limited warranty, some say they have a “President’s Lifetime Limited” warranty, while others have a 90 day warranty.  Check out the details of what is included in the warranty before you buy, and make sure to keep your receipt, as that will be required to make a claim.  Also check to see whether you need to register your grill in order to make a warranty claim.  I will definitely be looking out for a company that stands behind their product.

Once you have purchased a BBQ it’s important to take care of it

Be sure to purchase additional supplies for your grill like a grill cover and tools to clean it.  There is no sense spending hundreds of dollars for a grill that bites the dust in a few years because you didn’t take care of it.

So which barbeque did the Robinson family choose?  We are going with the Weber Gold Charcoal Kettle, as it has received consistently excellent reviews since its creation in the 1950’s, it is cost-effective, it stands the test of time, it is a charcoal model, and it is built in the U.S.  We looked at a competitor model at Costco which was less expensive, but it was manufactured in China, so we opted to spend a bit more for a brand that was built in the U.S.  The particular model we purchased is only available online, so it will be shipped to our house at which point we will need to assemble it (yikes!).  My loving husband is stoked about the prospect of cooking on an open flame, and I am looking forward to eating some delicious dogs and burgers very soon!

Bargainmoosers, did you buy a barbeque his year?   How did you save money on its cost?

Walmart Canada: Black & Decker Gas Grill Only $400 (Was $650)

I found a super fantastic clearance deal at Walmart, that is perfect for Spring. Get the Black & Decker Signature series 6500 LP gas grill for only $398, was $646. That is almost $250 off the original price!

With 855 square inches of cooking area, your whole family can enjoy grilled ribs, chicken, vegetables and so much more with this grill. You don’t even need to turn on the stove when you’ve got the side burner for any boiling or other cooking you need to do. It even has a stainless steel warming rack in case you need to cook large meals or to warm those soft hamburger buns.

With Summer just around the corner, I’m already dreaming of hot Saturdays spent in the backyard, grilling food, my feet in the kiddie pool, some coolers by my side. Our BBQ was purchased on clearance as well, but quite a few years ago and is getting on its last legs. I’d love a larger grill, since as my boys are getting older, we need to cook more food. I can’t imagine what I’ll need when they are all teenagers!

Walmart offers free shipping on everything, so buying online actually saves you the hassle of getting this sucker into your car. It will be right on your doorstep in no time.

Even though it may not look like Spring today in most parts of Canada, we have started a new season.  Lowes Canada is having a pre season clearance sale with tons of outdoor and indoor items on sale up to 60% off the regular prices.

You would think that this sale would have mostly out door items like BBQs and patio furniture and although they do have those items, they have lots of indoor deals as well.  You can save on appliances, vacuum cleaners, kitchen sinks, lighting,\ and even curtain rods along with the outdoor deals.

If you are updating your kitchen, you may want to check out this Kitchenaid dishwasher that was $1098 and is now just $698. If you want to add a great item to your deck on a budget, check out this garden mosaic table that was $118 and is now just $59.

My husband loves to BBQ year round and this Grill Gazebo that was $228 and is now $148 would be perfect for him.  It would allow him to cook in the rain, snow and sunshine and the harsh elements will stay off our BBQ making it last even longer.

This deal is both online and in stores but the selection is much bigger online.  It is a first come first serve basis as some of the items only have a coupon left.

Lowes Canada: Gas BBQs & Grills on Clearance

Posted by on March 12, 2014 at 11:30 AM

Lowes Canada: Gas BBQs & Grills on Clearance

With the nicer Spring weather we have been finally getting, it has made just about everyone I know want to BBQ.  We go for a family walk around dinner time and all you can smell is the fantastic scent of grilling in our subdivision.  If you are in need of  new BBQ or grill, check out the clearance deals at Lowes Canada.

There are 10 different BBQs to choose from.  Some are gas BBQs and some are grill, but all are worth checking out.  We have a great BBQ and it is a staple for us through three of the four seasons.  If it is nice enough, my husband will even BBQ in the winter time.  Not only is it healthier because all the fat drips down, personally, I just think BBQ tastes better than the frying pan or oven.

Here are a few of the clearance deals you will see:

We originally bought a smaller one and upgraded within two years.  We cook so often outside that it was worth it.  If I had to suggest one, I would suggest a gas BBQ if you have the hook up.  We have a propane one now but the convenience of the gas hook up and that perfect cooked taste that comes with it would be nice.

You can get these items shipping for a cost, or you can order it and then pick it up in stores for no charge at all.

Walmart Canada: Black & Decker Gas Grill Only $196 (Was $398)

Walmart Canada: Black & Decker Gas Grill Only $196 (Was $398)

Can you smell the burgers grilling, the steak searing and the beer cap being twisted off? No? Well, summer is coming if you believe it is coming. Start by getting yourself a new grill and even when it is -25C out there, put on your shorts and apron and make it medium rare! Now is a great time to get a new grill because the old stock is being cleared out for the new stock, and Walmart has a Black & Decker series 4500 LP gas grill with side burner on right now for only $196, was $398. That’s quite a savings!

It has all the bells and whistles like a four-burner gas grill and a side burner for cooking side dishes, with 12,000 BTUs coming out of those burners. The ignition is so easy, I can even do it, you just push and turn. The BBQ itself is 55.3″ x 25.4″ in width and length. It also includes a porcelain steel wire warming rack.

With only three reviews, they are all great, although written inevitably by men who really don’t have much to say except, yea, I like it. One guy even said it wasn’t out of the box yet, but he is happy with it. Find out for yourself and pay less than $200 for this grill, and how can you not be happy? The last BBQ I was going to blog from Walmart sold out immediately, so don’t wait for someone to get home to decide if this is the piece for you. Just get it!

Walmart loves to ship to you for free, so add that bonus to your savings. These stores also like to ship for free with no minimum, so check them out too.
