The last time I posted Awesome Books coupons, I received a really good response from the community! CanadianFan said:

Thanks so much for these codes. I am, ( to my wife’s unhappiness ) a HUGE book lover & reader and these codes make my favorite hardcovers AFFORDABLE to me.

One user, thesilentman, wanted to know when one of the coupon codes ended, but I didn’t know. I hope this new coupon will help him out!

Awesome Books is one of my favourite places to buy books because they are very affordable, offer free shipping across Canada on orders of two or more books, and they have the UK covers for books which often look so much better than the US versions.

See any books on your wish list? I want The Unadulterated Cat by Terry Pratchett. I can get the hard cover for just $4.33 in the used section.

AwesomeBooks Coupons: 4 For 3 or 20% Off

Awesome Books is a company out of the UK that has truly fabulous deals on books. Right now they have two really remarkable offers that I wanted to share, where you can get four books for the price of three or get 20% off your order. Enjoy free shipping when you order two or more books.

Click here to shop @ AwesomeBooks.com now

  • Coupon Code: pick443 (expired)
  • Discount: 4 For 3 Bargain Bin Books
  • Expiry: Unknown
  • Coupon Code: pick20 (expired)
  • Discount: 20% Off Bargain Bin or Used Books
  • Expiry: Unknown

The four books for the price of three offer is only on bargain bin books. However, the 20% off coupon can be used on bargain bin books and used books as well.

We don’t often post about companies from overseas but once in a while I like to post about this company. Their free shipping to Canada on book orders of two or more is really worth its weight in gold, and with the school year coming up I often turn to book companies like these for my books. As I am an English major I am often reading old novels and books that I can get for pretty cheap from companies like AwesomeBooks. Since the book-lists for most universities are out now I welcome deals like these!

Awesome Books Coupon: 15% Off Gifts for Christmas

Is it just my imagination, or have people stopped giving books for Christmas? If I’m right, this trend has to stop. Sure the latest Call of Duty might be just what your friend/kid/lover is wanting, but encouraging literacy and good old fashioned imagination fueled by a good book is important! Awesome Books makes book giving easy: the books are cheap, and they ship for free to Canada. Right now get a bonus 15% off your order.

This coupon is valid on all used books.

  • Discount: 15% off
  • Coupon Code: 15GIFT

One of the easiest ways to encourage reading is to pair books with movies that are coming out soon, like the following:

Both these movies look fan-friggen-tastic and the books are 60 – 80% off! With the extra 15% off these prices, they are amazing deals. For this coupon and future Awesome Books Coupon codes, check out the forum.

Places To Buy Used Textbooks

Posted by on August 9, 2012 at 9:00 PM

Places To Buy Used Textbooks

You can rent textbooks, you can buy textbooks. That is pretty much your two options. I see a LOT of students every year paying full price for their textbooks in the University Bookstore, when a little work on the computer, a credit card, and a few hours would be sufficient to get them massive discounts.

Here is a list of non-traditional places to buy textbooks, and some coupons to help out:

Chapters Canada

Buy new and used textbooks. Used often costs less, but shipping is a flat $6.49 per used book. Coupons won’t work on used textbooks.

  • Coupon Code: AUG2012
  • Discount: $5 off $30
  • Expiry: 31st, August 2012

Amazon Canada

Excellent place to buy textbooks, and the marketplace sellers can give you a great price on used and new textbooks as well.

BetterWorldBooks

Free shipping worldwide, for every book bought they donate a book, and good prices too. I bought two of my textbooks through them this year.

  • Coupon Code: BOOKS4GOOD
  • Discount: 10% off 2 or more used books
  • Expiry: Unknown

Alibris

If any website is going to have your book, Alibris will. It works sorta like the Amazon marketplace with many sellers listed within it. You can search for books and buy from Alibris, or you can note the name of the seller and try to find out if it is cheaper through their own store (if they have one). Alibris has a plethora of coupons usually, here is just one:

  • Coupon Code: VOYAGE
  • Discount: $3 off $30
  • Expiry: Unknown

Abebooks

Also one of the giants, though I have never ordered from this one. They have a ton of used textbooks and are a great resource.

Book Depository

Free shipping worldwide. I personally have not ordered through them before, but I have relatives in Canada who have.

Awesome Books

UK based place, good for comparisons and you might score yourself a deal. Free shipping to Canada on orders of 2 books or more.

Kijiji

Go to your local Kijiji and shop. I have bought many a used textbook off of Kijiji, usually I can get decent prices, but do price compare because sometimes students are asking almost full price.

I hope this gives you a brief run down on what options are out there for buying textbooks. Usually it is far cheaper to buy your textbooks from these websites than your University’s bookstore.

Do note: Some of these are US websites, or UK websites. Customs/duty may apply. I would say 1 out of every 4 orders for textbooks I make from out of the country gets a duty charge. The money I save goes well above and beyond that, so I don’t mind.

I pretty much take a morning (usually the 1st of August) off and open many, many browser windows on my computer. I spend my time price comparing textbooks across all of these websites, and the textbook rental websites. I will be doing a post really soon on textbook rental websites, so keep your eyes peeled! I will tell you how much I spent on textbooks for a full 5 course semester!

Moosers, do you know of any good places to buy textbooks?

Awesome Books Coupon: 4 for 3 Deal on Bargain Bin Books

Awesome Books Coupon: 4 for 3 Deal on Bargain Bin Books

Awesome Books is one of those international used book stores I rather like. Right now they are offering 4 bargain bin books for the price of 3.

  • Discount: 4 for 3
  • Coupon Code: Four43
  • Expiry: 23rd, July 2012

I am a big Asterix fan! I checked out the Asterix books in the Bargain Bin, and they had a great selection. I could pick up:

For the price of only 3 of those! The total of all 4 books comes to $17.68 (well below the original cost of $12.95 a book). After applying the coupon I would only pay $13.75. That is barely above the original price for one of those books new.

Shipping is free to Canada when you buy 2 books or more.

Awesome Books Coupon Code: 20% Off Used & Bargain Bin Books (UK)

I mentioned Awesome Books just recently as an international (UK) book store that sells new and used books at good prices. The also offer free shipping to Canada on a purchase of 2 books. I just got emailed an awesome 20% off coupon code to be used on any bargain bin or used books.

  • Discount: 20% off
  • Coupon Code: 20HELLO
  • Expiry: Unknown

I received my order from Awesome Books and have to say I am very pleased. They shipped very quickly and the books arrived in excellent condition, especially for used books! They were in excellent condition. I’m not sure what non-geeks look for in used books these days, but my recent obsession is Asterix. Used Asterix comics in good condition start at just $4. I can pick up Asterix and the Actress for $4.17 (74% off) and Asterix and Caesar’s Gift for $4.17 (57% off). After coupon both books come to only $6.66. With those two lovely books I will get free shipping.

I am in love with this company for it’s fantastic prices. Remember to change your currency in the upper right hand corner to the Canadian Dollar.

International Used Book Companies – Free Shipping to Canada

Posted by on May 8, 2012 at 3:00 PM

International Used Book Companies Free Shipping to Canada

There are a couple great international book companies I now use to save money on books. Both are located in the UK: and have an excellent selection! Best of all, with a small minimum you get free shipping to Canada.

Awesome Books is truly awesome, their prices beat most companies I have seen. With over 2 million books to choose from, you are sure to find what you are looking for. With a purchase of only two books, you will receive free shipping.

So my brother-in-law Henry told me about this place after we shared Awesome Books with him. When you order any book you receive free shipping to Canada – a pretty sweet deal. Personally, I find their prices are sometimes a bit higher than Awesome Books, but they do have a good selection and I was pleasantly impressed. A bonus for the Book Depository right now though: they have a coupon code for 10% off, no minimum. Simply add the coupon code APMA12 to your cart.

Both bookstores carry new and used books. So far I have placed an order with Awesome Books: and received one of the books so far, it was in excellent condition. Henry has placed many orders with Book Depository and had great success.

One of the bonuses I find is that I often like UK covers better than the American version of the cover. Also, sometimes they get books before we do, or have books that you can’t find in Canada that easily.

I think that used bookstores are one of those under appreciated gems for saving money. You can build up a beautiful library with used books, and sometimes save yourself up to 90% off the cover price.

Do you shop internationally for books? If so which companies do you use? We would love to add them to our list!
