  • Expires: 31st December 2014

As I have mentioned before, I like Hookbag because they are one of the few places offering coupons that sells auto parts. I am sure most Moosers have a car and know how expensive repairs and accessories are for our vehicles. Any way to save money is a smart move in my books.

One of my oddest pet peeves is seeing a car with a missing hubcap. It drives me insane just looking at it. While I argue that it is just a cosmetic problem that leads to a lack of symmetry that drives me bonkers, it is also that people are not taking take of what they have. However, hubcaps are not that expensive and you can get a replacement or a completely new set for pretty cheap. A 16″ set of four Hubcaps for the Toyota Camry Matrix will only cost you $36.12. These are actually compatible with any R16 tires, so read the wall of your car’s wheels to see if these will work. It is a great price to revive your old wheels.

Do you want to pimp your ride? Hell, I want to. I may love most everything factory but I want a custom knob. I love this MOMO Combat Evo Blue Shift Knob for $139.39, which comes down to $114.39 after coupon code. The blue would look amazing in my yellow convertible but it might clash with the custom red stitching on the leather seats. Who ever heard of doing red stitching in a yellow car? Seriously! This knob is glorious though. I love the black leather with the sleek blue tongue and blue stitching up the side. I wonder if they make it in yellow.

While browsing, I found a great accessory for camping. Pick up a 400 Watt DC to AC Inverter for your car or truck. That way you can still run the odd AC appliance off your vehicle even if you are tenting it. Originally $55.03, the inverter is on sale for $28.45.

Shipping depends upon what you buy and where it is going to be shipped.

Exclusive Hookbag.ca Coupon Code: Free Shipping, No Minimum

Exclusive Hookbag.ca Coupon Code: Free Shipping, No Minimum

Hookbag Canada has granted us an exclusive coupon code for free shipping on any order, no minimum required.

Click here to use the Hookbag coupon code online now

  • Coupon Code: BARGAINMOOSE01
  • Discount: Free shipping, no minimum
  • Expires: 30th June 2014

To use this coupon you have to sign up for an account at Hookbag. There will be a place to insert the coupon code when you get to the order review page.

Now, Hookbag is one of those catchall websites: they seem to have a little bit of everything. If you are looking for electronics, computer accessories, software, clothing, pet supplies, and even car care then you should check out this website.

I was shopping around for a little computer protection: not the software kind but the physical kind that would protect my computer from electrical surges. The beauty of most surge protectors is they also provide additional outlets for other electronics that need charging. I found an amazing deal on this Belkin SurgeMaster Professional 12-Outlets Surge Suppressor. Originally $71.81, the surge protector is now only $21.52. With 70% off your protector and free shipping, you really cannot find a better deal.

Now, you might be thinking that 12 outlets is a little extreme. Who needs 12 outlets? If you are looking for something a bit smaller then you can pick up the Belkin SurgeMaster Home/Office 8-Outlets Surge Suppressor for only $15.57, originally $49.26. There was a similar deal on a Belkin charger at Amazon recently, where an eight-outlet protector was about 50 cents cheaper, but you would need to spend an extra $10 at Amazon.ca to get free shipping whereas this baby ships for free with no additional purchase necessary.

I was excited to see car accessories at Hookbag Canada. It is actually hard to find car accessories online that do not cost a fortune in shipping. With this coupon, you can load up on small essentials like this Viking Microfiber Mesh Bug and Tar Sponge for $9.45 and this Sof Sole Liquid for $9.19. The Sof Sole Liquid is hard to find online. Just a couple weeks ago, I was looking for a silicone-based sealant to put the pep back into my door seals as they have begun to leak. My car manual says I should use a silicone-based liquid twice a year to prevent leaks, but I could not find one at the time so I ordered something else. This would have been perfect.

Click here to shop @ Partsengine.ca now

  • Coupon Code: BARGAINMOOSE5
  • Discount: $5 off
  • Expiry: 31st March 2014

There is no minimum spend on this coupon AND you’ll also get free shipping with no minimum spend! This is the time to buy that little item you’ve wanted for a while and get $5 off. Or, it could be the time to get that larger item you wanted and enjoy $5 off. Either way, $5 is $5, and you’ll be keeping it in your hands.

While I know absolutely nothing about vehicles except the difference between the gas pedal and the brakes, I have been friends with many a man and woman who loved their vehicles so much, it had a nickname. These guys often tricked their vehicles out with aftermarket accessories, and this coupon is for them. But, there are a number of great aftermarket items that are perfect for the everyday driver too, who just wants some seat covers or chrome accessories.

As always, I hit up the promotions section to see what deals I can get, along with my $5 off and free shipping, and they have a number of discounted items in there.

You might want to get something in the future from Parts Engine, so keep our coupon page bookmarked and come back and check it again and again.

PrincessAuto Canada: 50% Off Pair Of Vehicle Dollies

Posted by on September 20, 2013 at 9:00 AM

PrincessAuto Canada: 50% Off Pair Of Vehicle Dollies

Move your latest car project or something else with this pair of vehicle dollies from Princess Auto.

I’m not really a car guy. I know how to fix a lot of stuff, but I’m not an enthusiast. I’ll never own a project car. However, there are a lot of car guys in Canada (and wives of car guys) who need to occasionally move their cars. This could be to move it from where you work on it in the driveway to where you store it in the garage at night. This doesn’t even have to be for a project car, it could simply be for a car that broke down.

Here is a review from one of those car guy’s wives I was taking about:

We purchased 2 sets of these vehicle dollies and my husband was able to move his 1970 GTO from one garage to another with ease. Much easier on the back! We just had to bolt the casters onto the cradles and they were ready to use. They are very solid. Minor detail – They are blue in color and not black as shown.

You get a set of two for $44.99. You’re saving $45 off of the original $89.99 price tag. Each pair of dollies can handle 2000 lbs., so four will support a 4000 lb. vehicle.

While they are meant for cars, I’m sure these could be used to transport other things too, but again, they are meant for vehicles so please be careful when using them. We don’t want any of our readers to get hurt!

PrincessAuto Canada: 6V/12V Battery Tester For Only $20 (Save $30)

Posted by on September 15, 2013 at 9:00 PM

PrincessAuto Canada: 6V/12V Battery Tester For Only $20 (Save $30)

A car battery tester is an essential for everyone reading this and for $20, there is no excuse not to pick up this one from PrincessAuto.

A battery tester seems like a waste. It sits on a shelf for years, but when you need it, you are glad you have it. There are a lot of crooked mechanics out there who just want to get your money and they will lie to do so. If you go in there already knowing your battery is bad (or better yet, avoided going in there) then the tester has paid for itself. Everyone should have one sitting in their basement or closet.

This one is normally $49.99, but you save $20, bringing it down to $19.99. Shipping, for me, was $8.

Continuing on my investigation of how badly Princess Auto outperforms Canadian Tire in just about every way, I looked into a near identical battery tester at Canadian Tire. Much to my shock, the original price was $49.99 – the same as Princess Auto! But Princess Auto has it on sale, so that’s obviously a better – wait… What’s that?! Canadian Tire has a sale too and it’s a birthday sale!? Oh no, this doesn’t look good for my deal. I mean, you’d figure Canadian Tire would at least have price matched their sale, especially on their birthday. Oh, hold one. No. That’s right, at Canadian Tire the tester, on sale, is $29.99, and they won’t ship it to your door for $8.

One of these days I’m going to write up a great Canadian Tire deal, and someone reading it is going to come back to this article and throw it in my face. Oh well, until then, enjoy your cheap battery tester from PrincessAuto!

  • Coupon Code: MOOSE10
  • Discount: 10% off orders of $100 or more
  • Expiry: 3rd September 2013

Aaah, Labour Day. Another fake holiday for retailers to use as a sales catalyst.

Auto Parts Way Canada doesn’t do a lot of discounts and when they do, we usually see a lot of 5% sort of things. BargainMoose has gotten this exclusive coupon code for you to get 10% off when you order over $100 worth of stuff. We all know when it comes to car parts, $100 is not a lot of money. They also have $4.99 shipping on orders over $100. It’s not a special deal, it’s just the regular price. They can do the $4.99 shipping thing because they ship from warehouses in Canada. That’s the best part about ordering from Auto Parts Way. You don’t have to worry about paying shipping on a new part from California. It’s going to cost a bunch just to ship it, but then you need to worry about it crossing the border.

Besides parts, they also have accessories: little things like stone guards and window vents. They aren’t really parts per se, but rather optional things. And of course, they have all the parts you’d want, too: just about every valve, gasket, seal, camshaft, axle and sensor you could want. Look, they even have a Genuine Fuel injection Plenum Gasket for a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe! I have no idea what that is, but they have one if I ever need one, and that’s comforting. Somehow.

Don’t forget to check the Bargainmoose forum for more Auto Parts Way coupon codes!

Princess Auto Canada: $100 Off 20 Piece 1″ SAE Socket Set (Only $199.99)

Posted by on August 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM

Princess Auto Canada: $100 Off 20 Piece 1 SAE Socket Set (Only $199.99)

When you need to do some heavy duty work, you need a heavy duty socket set, like this one from Princess Auto at $100 off, for $199.99.

I’m not an overly handy person. I guess it’s not a lack of skill, but rather a lack of confidence. I didn’t redo my bathroom on my own because I didn’t want to screw it up and have the bathtub fall through the floor. When it comes to cars, though, I have confidence. I’m not sure why, but I think it’s that a car is set in a certain state and, as long as you leave it in that state, it should be fine. I know that’s over-simplifying it, but that’s how I think of it. If I put down new tile, I’m starting from bare wood and I need to make tiles appear from scratch. If I need to replace a battery in my car I can look at it, see how the battery was in, and put in a new one. That, my dear friends, is my round about way of saying that even though I’m kind of a dummy when it comes to traditional manly-man worky-work stuff, I think everyone needs a ratchet set. There is always something you can use it for. Actually, when I painted the bathroom (all on my own!) I used my ratchet set to take off a light fixture. Even if you aren’t a car person, there is something you will eventually need a ratchet set for.

Admittedly this specific ratchet set is a bit extreme, so if you don’t already have a smaller set, you’ll probably want to start with something a bit more universally useful. Of course if you already have a bunch of tools, this could be a great addition to your set for a great price. It’s normally $299.99, but you’re saving $100. You get it for $199.99.  I checked the competition (Canadian Tire) and a similar but smaller (3/4 inch) 20 piece set is $249.99. I suspect if they had the same set, it would be at the very least $299.99 but probably $349.99. We’ll come back to that, though. This thing weighs about 80 pounds so shipping is expensive at around $35. If you have a Princess Auto nearby, look for the deal there. If not, $35 isn’t that bad when you consider you’re saving $100 off the regular price.

The socket set itself has 16 sockets from 1-5/8 inch to 3-1/8 inch. It also has a one inch drive ratchet, an eight and sixteen inch extension bar, and a 1/2 Inch Drive sliding t-bar. It comes in a metal case. No plastic cases falling apart here.

So, getting back to Canadian Tire, the set would likely be more around $349.99 if they had it. Canadian Tire absolutely gets their lunch eaten by Princess Auto when it comes to, well, pretty much anything that they sell. It’s really kind of sad. Princess Auto is opening up locally and you could spit on Canadian Tire from the parking lot of Princess Auto. They are even up on a hill looking down upon the pitiful Canadian Tire store. It’s going to be very interesting to see how the competition tries to compensate within the local store when Princess Auto finally opens up.

Princess Auto Canada: 40% Off 1500 Pound Capacity Trifold Aluminum Ramp (Only $140)

Posted by on August 26, 2013 at 10:00 PM

Princess Auto Canada: 40% Off 1500 Pound Capacity Trifold Aluminum Ramp (Only $140)

Need an easier way to get stuff on your truck or trailer? Do it for less with this ramp from Princess Auto.

When I looked at this deal I figured shipping would be expensive, so I almost didn’t write it. I mean, it’s huge, I couldn’t imagine it being reasonable. I decided to stick my postal code in there anyway and it only came up to $20 for shipping to Atlantic Canada, and it shipped from Purolator. That’s not bad at all!

The actual deal is that you get the ramp for $137.99. The regular price is $229.99. You’re saving $92! That’s a really good price, especially where princess auto usually has great prices to start with! A very similar (almost identical) ramp at Canadian Tire is $299.99 and they won’t ship it to your door. The ramp is meant to be used for loading a trailer or truck, but I suppose it could be used anywhere you need a ramp or even a little bridge.

On a side note, isn’t Princess Auto great? They have had one in a city near me for a while and they are finally getting one in my city. If I was the local Canadian Tire, I’d be worried about my automotive section. Princess Auto constantly prices their products better and the quality is usually just as good as Canadian Tire offers. It’s not a store I’m going to go to a lot, but every once in a while I need something like a bottle jack or a ratchet set. Princess Auto is definitely going to be my new first destination when I need stuff like that.

One thing about this deal – it says it’s only starting on the 27th August 2013, but it is available on the website now. I’ve noticed that they always do this. I don’t know if the people who do the website just push the deals early, before they go home for the night. Whatever the case, the deal is available so have at it!

Canadian Tire or Princess Auto? Fight! …it out in the comments below.

AutoPartsWay Canada Coupon Code: Exclusive 5% Off + Free Shipping On Orders $150+

Got a car project, or something you’ve been meaning to fix? Check out Auto Parts Way for everything you need.

Click here to shop @ AutoPartsWay.ca now

  • Coupon Code: MOOSE123
  • Discount: 5% off + FREE shipping on orders over $150
  • Expiry: 27th August 2013

There are two parts to this deal. You get the 5% off, which is pretty cool, but you also get free shipping. I think the free shipping is the real deal here. Car parts are heavy. It’s not like you’re shipping a shirt or something. These are big, metal pieces and in some cases shipping can get out of hand.

I got in an accident a few years ago and decided to order a hood and two fenders online. I was stoked to find some great prices, but the shipping made it way more expensive than ordering them from a local place. Shipping in the case of (I think) the hood was almost as much as the cost of the hood itself. The fenders weren’t too bad. I wish, at the time, I had known about AutoPartsWay.

Another thing that lead to me not buying them online was that the parts were shipping from the States. On top of the insane shipping, if I’d been hit with duty, I’d be looking at a lot more money! AutoPartsWay has warehouses in Canada, so shipping on a lot (if not, most or all) of their parts are within our own borders.

Auto Parts Way Canada doesn’t have deals very often, so make sure you take advantage of this exclusive BargainMoose deal. And of course you should keep an eye out on our AutoPartsWay coupon code page for more deals!

Canadian Tire: Free Tow This Weekend

Canadian Tire: Free Tow This Weekend

If you get into trouble in your travels this weekend and need a tow, Canadian Tire is offering completely free tows to the nearest Canadian Tire Service Centre. On the other hand, if you get into trouble and get put into jail, sorry, you are on your own. Call your mother.

Canada Day weekend is truly the official start to the summer. Victoria Day weekend is just too iffy with temperatures, too itchy with bugs and doesn’t celebrate our country like Canada Day. Everyone wants to get somewhere on this long weekend, and a lot of them will be driving there. Accidents happen, people run out of gas, cars break down from sitting in that traffic going north. I remember one long weekend where my friend and I broke down on the side of the 401 and the craziness that ensued after. Since we were stuck anyway, we used that opportunity as another day off work and kept the party going, until I ended up in the hospital, but that’s a story for another time. You can keep the party going too, with all the money you’ll save on the tow. The repair charges you can think about later.

The free tow is valid starting right now until Tuesday at 6 am. A licensed driver must be present at the time of the tow. The following vehicles are not eligible for a tow:

motorcycles, motor scooters, any vehicles in excess of 3600 kg (8000 lbs), all terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, dune buggies, taxi cabs, tow trucks, snow plows, tractors, trailers of any description, limousines, boats, dual-wheeled vehicles, vehicles used for competition

Just call 1-888-727-7478 if you need to. Here’s hoping you don’t!

eShine Canada: Up to 50% Off Car Cleaning Supplies

eShine Canada: Up to 50% Off Car Cleaning Supplies

Are you a car enthusiast? Do you like to bufF, wax, and polish your lovely automobile to a high shine? I recently found eShine Canada which sells car cleaning supplies across Canada. They have a specials section with up to 50% off supplies!

This is the first time we have blogged about eShine on the Bargainmoose so give them a big warm welcome! They offer free shipping on orders of $150 (before taxes) and have a nice specials section too. Check these deals out:

You might have noticed the boat cleaning kit in there… it is true that they do more than just car supplies!

The other real kudos to this website is their articles on how to properly wash and dry your car. I really believe in maintaining what you own so it will last longer and if people took better care of their cars they would last longer, have less rust, and as a bonus be more esthetically pleasing to the eye. They also have a higher resale value if they have been properly maintained. If you don’t know how to properly wash and dry your car check out these helpful articles from eShine.

I am going to be reading these articles and hopefully get some supplies from them when I have some spare budgetary money. I recently bought a 2007 Pontiac Solstice and I want to keep my car in beautiful shape for years to come.

Walmart Canada: 50% Off SIRIUS Stratus 6 Satellite Radio – Now $30

Posted by on June 23, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Walmart Canada: 50% Off SIRIUS Stratus 6 Satellite Radio Now $30

Walmart Canada has 50% off of the SIRIUS Stratus 6 Satellite Radio. Originally $59.98, the radio is on sale for $29.98.

My Uncle Bill is a truck driver, and he couldn’t survive without his Sirius radio. Regular radio is just a headache to listen to because every time you want music, there always seems to be a commercial or the hosts like the sound of their own voices. I used to listen to a radio station in Edmonton where they promised certain stretches of time commercial free, like fifty-four minutes, but they would spend a good chunk of that time yapping. When I am cruising down the road, all I want to listen to is music.

Features of this system:

  • View artist, song title and channel information
  • Ten presets
  • Push-button navigation:
  • FM transmitter or stereo audio output to connect to your vehicle’s radio
  • FM preset function: Store the best FM frequencies in your area for optimum integration with your vehicle’s radio
  • One-Touch Jump to your favourite channel
  • Parental controls: Easily lock and unlock channels
  • Universal docking capability: Add accessories to enjoy in your home, office or additional vehicles

If I end up going on a road trip across Canada or the US like I am planning on… my first ‘holiday expense’ is going to be Sirius radio or else by time I get home I will want to murder a DJ or two.

Michelin Canada: $70 Off a Set of 4 Tires (Mail-in Rebate)

Posted by on April 3, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Michelin Canada: $70 Off a Set of 4 Tires (Mail in Rebate)

Tires for your car or light truck are expensive, especially if you want to get a good set of tires. Michelin Canada is helping you get some good tires and save some money too!

The rebate is only valid for a set of four passenger or light truck tires and the tires have to be purchased between 25th March 2013 and 18th May 2013. You have until 21st June 2013 to get the receipt and rebate offer sent to Michelin.

It’s getting to be time to change your tires. That also means, if you need new ones, it’s time to open the wallet.  A good set of tires is going to be hundreds of dollars and if, like me, you have an SUV or a truck, you know you’re gonna spend more. It’s very tempting to get a cheaper tire but having driven on good tires in summer and in winter, in a four wheel drive truck and a car, I know the difference.

A quality tire from a big, well-known company like Michelin can make the difference between making it through a storm safely or ending up in the ditch. I know there are people out there who say you don’t need winter tires and that it’s all in how you drive, but sometimes it really isn’t. My driveway is a steep, long hill and I’ve tried getting up and down it with winter tires and without and there is definitely a difference. No amount of driving skill is going to help you in that situation. It isn’t just winter either, a good tire can help you when it’s raining, if you’re on an unpaved road and handling around corners.

Not looking for tires right now? No troubles. Check out our Michelin Canada Coupon page for upcoming deals!

Canadian Tire: Keep Your Car Battery Running For Cheap!

Posted by on February 10, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Canadian Tire: Keep Your Car Battery Running For Cheap!

Canadian Tire has a bunch of battery charging and jumpstarting products on sale. If you’re going to live in Canada, you need something from this sale!

There are fifteen accessories for your car battery on sale at Canadian Tire right now. These are a few of them:

So I came up with this idea after having to pay $20 and be forty minutes late for work because my car won’t start. It happens a lot in the winter and, as of late, it’s been happening to me a lot. I think I may need a new battery or maybe my alternator is toast but regardless, I’m going to pick up the MotoMaster charger with 100A start that I mentioned above. I can use this to trickle charge my battery which will, hopefully, give it a bit more life. If it doesn’t, well, I’ll get a new battery AND a piece of gear that I think every cold blooded Canadian citizen should have!

The product I’m getting can trickle charge, charge or jumpstart a car but has to be plugged in to a wall outlet to do so. There is a cheaper version of this that doesn’t have the jumpstart capability. If you’re worried about being stuck out in the middle of nowhere and needing a boost, you’ll want something like the Stanley Lithium-Ion Jumpstarter. I am debating gettig the jumpstarter but I think I’ll end up getting the charger with jumpstarter just because I need the trickle charge it provides.

There are a bunch of other items on sale here but make sure you read up on them and check the reviews. Some of them only have two stars!
