ASUS EeeBook Signature Edition Laptop Only $199 @ Microsoft Canada! ($179 For Edu) (EXPIRED)

ASUS EeeBook Signature Edition Laptop Only $199 @ Microsoft Canada! ($179 For Edu) (EXPIRED)

Anyone in the market for a low-priced portable computer? The ASUS EeeBook X205TA-US01-BL Signature Edition Laptop has been reduced in price, at the Canadian online Microsoft store. While I don’t have the true “was” price, you can pick up this budget lappie just now for only $199 with free shipping!

Here’s a quick list of some of the important parts of the specification:

  • 6” HD display
  • 2GB memory/32GB eMMC
  • Micro SD / Micro HDMI
  • 2 x USB 2.0
  • Up to 12 hours battery life

According to a customer service rep at Microsoft, this is a permanent price drop to this lower level. So, while there may not be any urgency in ordering one as the deal isn’t set to expire as such, they may only have limited stocks available at any one time. If you are interested in buying, I’d do it sooner rather than later.

Now, this is a budget model of a laptop and it won’t run the latest games or multi-task with seamless workings. It’s a good little machine for some basic tasks, school work, internet browsing, etc. If you want a more powerful computer, you’ll pay a lot more for that privilege. But all in all, it’s a great little machine for the budget-concious.

Education Discount

For the Canadian Microsoft store, all people in education or military service can actually get an extra 10% discount. If you qualify and want to avail of this offer, then people in educational establishments can just go here to place your order.

$200 Off Asus Transformer Book Flip TP500LA 15″ Laptop @ Microsoft Store Canada – Now $300 Was $500 & Free Shipping

Posted by on December 30, 2014 at 6:40 PM

$200 Off Asus Transformer Book Flip TP500LA 15 Laptop @ Microsoft Store Canada Now $300 Was $500 & Free ShippingRight now, you can get the ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LA signature edition laptop for just $299 at the Microsoft Store, instead of its original price of $499 ($200 in savings). This laptop has been popping in and out of stock every since the Microsoft Store’s Boxing Week Sale began, so here’s your chance to get it but be quick about it!

The 15.6″ ASUS Transformer book flip laptop features the folllowing noteworthy specs:

  • HD touch screen
  • Intel Core i3
  • 4GB memory
  • 500 hard drive
  • up to 5 hour battery life

What sets this laptop apart from the rest is that it’s a “book flip”, which means that you can flip the screen whichever you want, anywhere from 0 to 360 degrees. You can use it as a regular lapotp or you can push the screen the other way to essentially flip the laptop on itself and use it as a tablet.

If I didn’t already have a tablet and a laptop, I would definitely get it just for this feature alone because not only is the screen large enough to fit most needs, but it’s nice to have the convenience of basically having two gadgets in one (as it acts as both a tablet and a laptop).

Here’s what one reviewer had to say about it on the Microsoft Store’s site:

Going to start by saying that if you can catch this computer on sale, that it really is an amazing deal and bang for your buck […] I use my laptop for streaming video/music, iTunes, browsing, and running Office 365. I noticed no performance issues or slowdowns. The speaker quality on the laptop is fantastic at this price point, and I got about 7 hours of battery on my first charge cycle, better than I expected considering Microsoft said up to 5 hours. Touchscreen is also very responsive and noticed no issues.

The Microsoft Store always offers free shipping, so apart from taxes, you won’t have to pay any additional fees. I ordered from the Microsoft Store not too long ago and I have to admit that I was very surprised when the mailman rang my doorbell with my order as soon as two days later.

Save 20% TODAY Only: Asus 11.6” Notebook Only $199 @ Black Friday! (EXPIRED)

Save 20% TODAY Only: Asus 11.6” Notebook Only $199 @ Black Friday! (EXPIRED)

If anyone is on the lookout for a low-priced laptop for Christmas, then consider the great price on this Asus notebook. Previously priced at $249.96, it’s down to only $199.96 with free shipping from Staples Canada!

The Asus notebook will be at this price or today only – it’s one of the pre-Black Friday deals from Staples. Here’s the full title of this laptop: Asus Notebook (X205TA-SH41-CB), 11.6″, 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3735F, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD.

When I first clicked through to this on the Staples site, it said “out of stock” but I checked again an hour later, and it was back in stock! You could be lucky and get one!

So, it’s got 2GB of RAM which is decent enough to start with. It has a 32GB hard drive which isn’t huge, but it is a bonus that it is an SSD. It seems like a great notebook for portability – perhaps great if you commute to and from work. Or perhaps even a starter laptop for a teenager? I am sure they’d love that as a Christmas pressie.

Just $329 For Asus Transformer Signature Edition 32GB Tablet + 500GB Keyboard + Free Shipping @ Microsoft Store Canada!! (EXPIRED)

Just $329 For Asus Transformer Signature Edition 32GB Tablet + 500GB Keyboard + Free Shipping @ Microsoft Store Canada!! (EXPIRED)

November is usually synonymous with loads of tech deals and here’s another little hot offer to get you Moosers ready for Christmas: Microsoft Store is currently selling the Asus Transformer 10.1″ tablet for just $329. It’s a 2-in-1 PC that also comes with a 500GB HDD keyboard dock.

I am beyond jealous of this deal. If I hadn’t already gotten my hubby this exact tablet a year ago, I would have totally taken advantage of this mega deal from the Microsoft Store, especially since I bought his at full price and without the keyboard!

For just $329, however, you can currently get this tablet along with a detachable keyboard. The option of a keyboard is a particularly great one, especially for those times that you need to take notes (i.e. in class) but another major perk is that it add as much as 500 additional giga bytes on top of the already built-in 32 ones within the tablet for a total of 532GB. That’s particularly useful for all those of you that are looking to use a tablet for watching movies and TV shows.

Speaking of taking notes, it also comes with a free year of Office 365 Personal, which includes Words, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote!

Here are just some of the other noteworthy features:

  • 10.1″ LED HD screen
  • 2GB memory
  • 32-bit Windows 8.1
  • 2-in-1 PC
  • 2-cell battery life
  • Bluetooth integrated

Looking around, I found this exact tablet on sale for $388.99 (reg. $399) at Although Microsoft Store’s doesn’t have any reviews, on Amazon, this cool tablet has generated nearly 170 reviews with a general consensus of 3.9 stars out of 5. In fact, here’s one review that particularly stood out to me:

I’ve read TONS of reviews and I’ve seen people say that you shouldn’t expect it to function like a computer but so far that’s exactly what it does. It’s a small computer. I love it and I’m super glad I decided to spend the money on it. Well worth it.

Plus, with purchase of this tablet, you can also save 15% off select accessories like wireless mice, keyboards, webcams, and more. For those of you with an Xbox, remotes for either the Xbox One or Xbox 360 are also among these picks.

$50 Off The Asus Black 7″ 16GB MeMO Wifi Tablet: Now $130 @ FutureShop

Posted by on October 19, 2014 at 1:30 PM

$50 Off The Asus Black 7 16GB MeMO Wifi Tablet: Now $130 @ FutureShop

For those of you on the lookout for a tablet but cannot quite stretch to paying the higher price tags on Apple iPads, consider the great deal on this little Asus Black 7″ 16GB MeMO Wifi Tablet which is currently on special offer at Futureshop Canada. They’ve knocked $50 off the original price of $179.99, bringing it down to only $129.99 with free shipping!

There are other colour options available in this Asus tablet, but only the black is available to order online at this price. If you want another colour, you could check out the stock at the Future Shop location nearest to you. Here’s a quite note on the specification of this tablet deal:

  • 7″ HD screen with 1280 x 800px  resolution
  • 16GB of built-in memory
  • 2MP HD front camera & 5 MP rear
  • Android 4.4
  • Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth

While 16GB isn’t huge for a tablet in terms of memory these days, this Asus tablet is excellent because it’s expandable up to 64GB by using a new micro SD card. If you need the extra on-board storage space, you’ve got that option down the line.

Also, the fact that this Asus tablet has got both front and rear cameras is a bonus – many of the lower price-point tablets only have one. This means that you can video chat with ease, changing the view when needed.

I did an online price comparison to see how good this deal really was. The Asus 7″ 16GB MeMO Pad Tablet With Wi-Fi comes in quite higher at most other stores – $160 @ Memoryexpress, $180 @ Best Buy, $198 @ Newegg, $160 @ The Source, $160 @ NCIX. So you can see it’s a truly sweet deal from Future Shop – $30 cheaper than the next best price from the competition.

Reviews seem mostly positive too, with many users commenting that it’s great for streaming video and various media. It sounds like it also has a great screen, with clear and sharp pictures. Overall, I think it’s a great buy for this price.

Costco Canada: Asus 8″ Memo Pad 16GB Tablet Just $199 (Was $239)

Posted by on February 23, 2014 at 11:30 PM

Costco Canada: Asus 8 Memo Pad 16GB Tablet Just $199 (Was $239)

Have you been shopping around for a convenient little tablet? Costco Canada currently has the Asus 8″ Memo Pad 16GB tablet for just $198.99.

Available in either white, grey or pink, this 8″ tablet actually packs quite the punch with a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 1GB ram and a 16GB hard drive that can be upgraded to 64GB.

As for a quick price comparison, Costco’s offer is definitely the cheapest, with selling this same Asus tablet for $239.96 and Staples listing it at $239.99. Out of all the stores that I searched for this tablet, Best Buy seems to be offering it at the highest price: $241.64. One reviewer did, however, note the following:

If you are looking for a great android tablet and don’t want to shell out for the higher priced screen this is it. It has 95% of the functionality and performance of a higher priced alternative. We downloaded some HD games and didn’t really see any real performance/screen differences that would have justified a $200-$300 additional price hit. And Asus once again ( I also own a Asus Transformer Pad 300T) has done well with having some additional apps installed but not overdoing it. Battery life is excellent. It’s light and the 8″ screen is a great go between size. Highly recommended.

On top of offering a better deal than its competitors, another advantage of getting it with Costco is that it will also ship for free.

CanadaComputers: Asus B400A Ultrabook – 14.1″ Screen, Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD for $749 (Save $200)

CanadaComputers: Asus B400A Ultrabook 14.1 Screen, Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD for $749 (Save $200)

Get your Asus Ultrabook for only $749 at Canada Computers!

CanadaComputers has this listed as a “business ultrabook” which is probably because it’s a bit underpowered. Of course a lot of people buy way more computer than they need. If you do email, Facebook and cat videos on YouTube, this is going to work just fine for you. You don’t need to go all out unless you’re going to play some newer games, do video editing or any other heavy lifting. That being said, you can certainly do worse than this computer. It’s not so underpowered as to be a hindrance.

Of course you can also use it for legitimate business purposes. Accounting software, word processors, email and other business applications don’t generally need a high powered machine so if you’re running a small business or home business and don’t want to spend too much on a computer, this one is fine. You want to focus on running your business, not worry about technology.

I looked around and it seems most places are selling this for around the $999 price point so this is a legitimately good deal from Canada Computers. You’re going to get it for $749. That’s $200 off of the original $949. Shipping is based on where you live. If you’re near one of the Canada Computers locations (Ontario and Quebec) you can pick it up for free.

Memory Express: Get a $50 Gift Card when You Buy Select Asus PCs

Memory Express: Get a $50 Gift Card when You Buy Select Asus PCs

Pick up a great Asus PC and get a $50 gift card from Memory Express!

It depends where you live but it’s starting to get close to being too late for buying Christmas gifts online unless you pay more for shipping. Regardless, this is a great deal. You pick up one of  their all-in-one PCs. They range from $1069.99 to $1949.99 and some of them are touch enabled. Of the five, I like the Asus Transformer P1801-B110K All-in-One. It’s $1499.99 (was $1549.99, save $50 + get a $50 gift card) and it’s pretty innovative. It’s also kind of wacky. It’s an 18″ touch screen Windows 8 computer and an Android tablet. Like I said, wacky!

This would actually be a great gift for someone going back to university. Dorms are cramped as is so an all-in-one like this would be a great space saver and it could act as computer, TV and tablet.

As usual with these deals there is always the temptation to give yourself the gift card or you could give it to the person you are buying the computer for. Of course if are buying the computer for yourself, you can do both.

Standard shipping is $4.99 but you might want to go with the express shipping option.

Microsoft Store Canada: Up to $300 Off Windows 8 Computers

Posted by on June 4, 2013 at 9:00 PM

Microsoft Store Canada: Up to $300 Off Windows 8 Computers

HP. Asus, Lenovo, Samsung. Whatever you want, Microsoft has it and they have it for less!

There are some awesome computers at awesome prices here. There aren’t really any that I wouldn’t recommend so pick the one that you feel fits you the best!

The elephant in the room with this deal is the Windows 8 part so I’m going to address that up front. These are great computers and Windows 8 should not turn you off from buying them. I’ll explain why. There are a few things that people don’t like about Windows 8 but let’s tackle the big one: the start menu/button.

Instead of the start menu we now have the start screen which contains all of your programs. So the main difference is that before you had a menu that popped up and now it’s a whole screen. This is quite literally the stupidest complaint about Windows 8. I can’t even think of an argument that makes sense for why this is bad. Instead of opening a menu in the corner and launching programs, you open a new screen. That’s it. You can leave the screen with the click of a mouse or the push of a button just like you did with the old menu. It is functionally unchanged except you can’t see what’s on you’re screen while you’re looking in the start menu. I would submit to you that it is a very limited case for having to have your start menu open at the same time you are reading a website or watching a video. If you’ve opened your start menu, your focus will be there until you are done with it.

As far as the start button, you can just push the start key on your keyboard and, because you whined so much, Microsoft is releasing an update to put the start button back. If you are really so enraged about the change, you can get a program Classic Shell to return your previous menu. People even complain that Windows 8 books in to the start screen. Waitaminute, you’re saying that the operating system immediately brings me to the place where I can launch programs?! That’s horrible! Or maybe it’s an awesome design choice so that you can choose which program to launch immediately on boot instead of having to open a menu and claw through stuff.

This is a deals site, not a tech blog, so I didn’t go into detail or hit all the points I would have had I been writing a tech article but I just wanted to show you that Windows 8 isn’t some terrible demon. I’m not even a Windows guy. I traditionally use Linux and I’m fine with Windows 8. So if you’re looking for a new laptop don’t let Windows 8 scare you away from these awesome deals. Also, they all ship for FREE!

What do you think about Windows 8? Let me know in the comments below!

Memory Express Canada: ONE DAY ONLY! Asus X54C Laptop Only $400 (Save $100)

Gone are the dark days of laptops being a luxury item. MemoryExpress has helped usher in the era of every household having a laptop and they are continuing with the Asus X54C.

Remember the dark days of laptop computing? The days when you only had a laptop if it was issued to you for school or work or if you were rich or had saved up tons of money? Yeah, me too. Weren’t those just terrible days? I remember paying over $2000 for a Toshiba laptop that is less powerful (by quite a bit) than my phone.

The Asus laptop being offered is perfect for the casual user and priced accordingly. It’s only $399.99 which is $100 off the regular price of $499.99. You aren’t gonna be playing the latest games or rendering 5k footage with this thing but if you wanna play Angry Birds, use Facebook or Skype with someone, it’ll be fine.  Here are the specs:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • Intel Core i3 Processor
  • 6GB DDR3 RAM
  • 15.6″ 16:9 HD LED Screen
  • 500 GB HDD

NewEgg Canada: ASUS VS Series 24 Monitor Only $140 After Discount, Coupon & Rebate (Was $210)

A great new monitor and a great price from Asus and New Egg Canada!

Click here to get your new Asus monitor @

  • Coupon Code: CAWKLY03251
  • Discount: $20 off
  • Expiry: Unknown

So the price is kind of hard to figure out here since some of them are applied after taxes but it’s more or less $209.99 – $30 instant discount – $20 coupon code – $20 mail-in rebate. That ends up being $140! This really is a good deal for a monitor like this. I took a look around at other retailers and I found that (who is usually cheaper than Canadian retailers) is selling it for $170. So this is $30 cheaper than the  place that usually sells stuff for cheaper than we can get in Canada. Not too shabby, eh?

I haven’t had an Asus monitor but I’ve used them fairly extensively and I like them quite a bit. My tablet was an Asus and the screen in that was good too. On top of that, the rating on NewEgg Canada is 4/5 eggs, which is great when you realize that people tend to review items they dislike more than items they like.

Shipping is free. For more NewEgg Canada coupons, click here.

Amazon Canada: $50 Off Asus Transformer TF300T – Standalone or With Dock

Posted by on March 12, 2013 at 11:00 PM

Amazon Canada: $50 Off Asus Transformer TF300T Standalone or With Dock

A great sale from Amazon Canada and Asus this week. You get a great tablet at a great price! $50 savings on the tablet by itself of the tablet and keyboard/battery dock.

I owned the original Asus Transformer, the TF101, and the dock and it was quite literally one of the best products I’d ever used. I used it instead of a laptop for well over a year. Maybe over two years. I only sold it because I got a laptop but now I dearly miss my tablet.

If you’re at all interested in a tablet, I highly suggest this one. The tablet is great but the keyboard dock really makes it awesome. The dock has a keyboard and mouse that make it infinitely more useful for typing. I find the mouse pad less useful on a touch screen device but it’s there if you want it. I found on a few games it was easier to mouse than touch. Actually, that’s a good point. The arrow keys on the keyboard map properly to the controls on some games so those annoying on-screen controls, in some cases, go away.

The battery is the other aspect of the dock. It gives insane battery life. I’m talking like 16 hours on one charge. Now of course if you’re streaming HD video that 16 hour life is going to be far less but I could routinely go two days, with a fair amount of Netflix watching, on one charge. This really is one of the best mobile computing devices you can get today and the price is awesome.

Like I said in my little intro, this is one of the highest rated items on NewEgg Canada. About 02% of it’s ratings are 4/5 or above. Overall it has over a 4.5/5. The only real complaint I read was that it is a bit wobbly on the base but a reviewer said he got a note from Asus who advised him to tighten the screw on the bottom of the base in order to stop the wobble. Problem solved!

I thought this was a great review, especially for a Apple-hating curmudgeon like me!

This monitor has a seriously good image, going from my previous iMac to this is like going from being blind to 20/20 vision.

But wait, there’s more!

NewEgg is having a great Christmas sale so even if you aren’t up for a new monitor, there are tons of other great deals!

November 7 Save $300 on an Asus 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Save 18%!)

Posted by on November 7, 2012 at 9:30 AM Save $300 on an Asus 15.6 Gaming Laptop (Save 18%!)

Gaming is an expensive hobby so Bargainmoose and Amazon Canada want to make it just a little bit cheaper!

Seriously. PC gaming is ridiculously expensive. Gaming on the go is even more expensive, it seems. There are gaming laptops out there that atop $4000 and they don’t go on sale too often. Even when you do find sales on them they usually aren’t the 20% off we’re seeing here.

This Asus gaming laptop is $1699 on Amazon but you’re going to save $300 making the final price $1399. Here are the main specs. You get free shipping but these are selling fast to it may be delayed while they get more in.

  • Intel Core i7-2670QM 2.2GHz
  • 16GB DDR3
  • Windows 7 Home
  • NVIDIA GTX 560M 3G@

Amazon has a lot of information on this computer so if you need to know anything else, check out the Amazon site! Maybe even get the gamer geek in your life to check it out and see if maybe it would be a good Christmas gift.

Acer Aspire Ultrabooks up to 26% off @

Acer Aspire Ultrabooks up to 26% off @

Aspire to buy an ultrabook. Aspire to save money.

These are three ultrabooks on sale:

As usual with Amazon, anything over $25 ships free.

I’m really interested in the ultrabook movement. Unlike the netbook craze of 2009, I feel like this one actually has some legs. Mainly in that it’s a full blown laptop that’s been stripped to make it slimmer. Unless you’re doing some heavy lifting like video editing or photo editing or some heavy gaming you probably don’t need anything beefier than one of these.

Acer is now a top brand (Usually #2 or #3, depending on which research company you listen to) in the PC world. They used to be a third tier manufacturer, way back in the day, but have proven themselves worthy.
