May 12 Cuisinart 4-Cup Chopper Only $34 & Free Shipping after $20 Coupon

Posted by on May 12, 2015 at 12:30 PM Cuisinart 4 Cup Chopper Only $34 & Free Shipping after $20 Coupon

The Cuisinart CH-4BKC 4-Cup Chopper is on sale from $64.99 down to $53.99. Use one of the $20 off $50 Facebook coupons to bring the four-cup chopper down to $33.99 with free shipping. is one of the best places to get deals right now, aside from Chapters (because of the Visa Checkout deal). With the $20 off $50 coupons I have mentioned before (there are four), you can receive $20 off orders of $50. That brings many items, which are around $50, substantially down in price to a level they cannot be beat. I just used one of these coupons to purchase some vitamins yesterday. Cuisinart 4 Cup Chopper Only $34 & Free Shipping after $20 Coupon

All good deals require price comparing. I found the same Cuisinart CH4BKC 4-Cup Chopper for the following prices at other retailers:

  • $54.99 @ Staples Canada
  • $49.99 @ Amazon Canada
  • $49.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $69.99 @ Sears Canada

Given the above prices, you are buying your mini chopper for $16 less than the nearest competitor is. When the machine itself costs just over double $16, it is a huge savings over the nearest competitor. I also wanted to mention that it is cheap than the three-cup processor I mentioned before ($37.99).

As there are no reviews on for the Cuisinart mini chopper, I pulled one off of Best Buy Canada:

It is perfect for small jobs, such as making hummous or salsa. The motor is powerful enough to grind or chop very quickly. the parts are quite easy to clean. The only drawback I found would be that the holes on the lid for pouring liquids (oil or water) are too tiny.

One of these is a god-sent in most kitchens. It can be tedious to chop all your veggies for making salads or casseroles. In addition, it is very hard to get a nice smooth hummus or dip without the use of a processor of sorts. This little mini chopper and grinder will really help with kitchen prep and improve the texture of what you would usually make by hand. I also like the compact size: this mini chopper will not dominate your kitchen counters. It is small enough to put away when you are done.

A friend of mine and I were arguing recently over who was better: KitchenAid or Cuisinart. We each have our loyalties, but he was staunchly in the Cuisinart camp and he went to cooking school.

As with all orders at, this will ship for free.

Home Depot: GE Stainless Steel 30″ Designer Range Hood Was $1100 | Now $400

Posted by on May 8, 2015 at 10:08 AM

Home Depot: GE Stainless Steel 30 Designer Range Hood Was $1100 | Now $400

Home Depot Canada’s hammer drop deal of the day is hot! The GE Stainless Steel 30 Inch Designer Range Hood (PVWG930SSV) is on sale from $1098 down to just $399 plus shipping.

This is a one-day deal only! While shipping is not included, the price is very reasonable for such an item. I estimated shipping to my home (on Vancouver Island). It was just $21.99, which is a fair price in my books.

Now, price comparisons are integral to any deal, and a range hood is no exception. I price compared this exact range hood at a few different online retailers. Canadian Appliance Source has the range on sale for $998.  Sears Canada sells the GE range hood for $999.91. Bad Boy Superstore sells the same range hood for $1,248.88. Lastly, I found this range at Micheal’s Canada for $1,509.99.

I visited GE Appliance’s website as well to get an idea as to what this range should sell for. The company gives their own range a $1,268 manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

At Home Depot you are paying at least 60% less than the lowest price anywhere else right now. Seriously, this is a beautiful deal.

Of course, not everyone is going to need a new range hood. However, if you are planning to renovate your house, gut your kitchen, or just modernize your appliances, then this is a fantastic deal. I know many people who switch to stainless steel major appliances but never quite get around to replacing their old range hood. Now, it is affordable and stylish.

This GE Range Hood measures 30″. The hood features blue light touch controls with two halogen lights and a four-speed fan control. The halogen lights will help you see what you are cooking (and what colour it is turning). I like the four-speed fan control because hood fans are notoriously loud. My current hood fan has two settings: noisy and jet engine. With four speeds, you can turn the fan on and still be able to cook without earplugs.

This range hood comes with a full one-year warranty that covers both parts and labour.

Shipping prices may vary depending upon where you live. This deal is available online only. The range is currently in stock and it qualifies for a free return should it not be what you need.

April 30 Cuisinart Mini Prep Processor Was $55 | Now $39 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Posted by on April 30, 2015 at 4:00 PM Cuisinart Mini Prep Processor Was $55 | Now $39 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

If you are in the market for a mini food processor, then we have a great deal for you. The Cuisinart Mini Prep Processor is on sale from $54.99 down to $38.99, in the citrus lime colourway. Only this colour is on sale. All orders at come with free shipping.

I price compared this processor with other retailers. The Source Canada currently has a couple colours on sale for $39.99, but they are already out of stock (and the deal just started today). That was quick. Staples has the mini prep priced at $49.99 (also out of stock), and Amazon sells the white one for $46.40. sells all the other colours, excluding this green, for $54.99 right now. The Bay Canada does not sell this model, but they had a 4-cup model on sale for $48.74.

This little food processor is perfect for people who rarely use food processor or who live on their own / as a couple where food volume is less. I adore this little processor as its small size makes it apartment friendly. I do not know about you, but I have way too many appliances to actually fit on the counters of my small galley kitchen. Cuisinart Mini Prep Processor Was $55 | Now $39 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

This food processor has many redeeming features. The food processor will chop or grind at the touch of the button. There are only two buttons – so use is very intuitive. There is also an auto-reversing SmartPower blade feature. The bowl can hold up to three cups of ingredients and all the parts are dishwasher-safe. Just take everything apart, run it through the dishwasher, and reassemble.

This is a funky little food processor. Usually, we use the food processor to shred potatoes and onions for casseroles, occasionally shred cheese, and refine breadcrumbs from large chunks into finer powder. The last use is probably the most frequent as I bake (at a low temperature) any old bread to dry it out. Once dried, the food processor is handy for turning the dried bread into crumbs. This is one of the ways that I try to reduce waste in my household.

Now, still has some active $20 off $50 coupon codes. Add $11.01 more to your cart and use one of these Facebook vouchers to save $20. That makes the mini food processor even cheaper!

The Source: Total Chef Juicin’ Juicer Was $100 | Now $70 & Free Shipping

Posted by on April 23, 2015 at 3:00 PM

The Source: Total Chef Juicin Juicer Was $100 | Now $70 & Free Shipping

The Source Canada has an excellent sale on the Total Chef Juicin’ Juicer. Originally $99.99, the juicer is on sale for $69.99 with free shipping.

I price compared this unit with other online retailers. The Total Chef Juicin’ Juicer retails for the following prices:

  • $84 @ Walmart Canada
  • $99.95 @
  • $99.95 @ Home Depot Canada
  • $99.98 @ Best Buy Canada

This is a basic juicer – perfect for morning freshly squeezed orange juice. Many juicers are quite expensive, but if you want to pass on store bought juice for a healthier alternative, then pick up this budget friendly juicer from Total Chef. This juicer can also juice veggies. The Top Chef Juicin’ Juicer has a dual speed selector and auto-shut off. The extra-large pulp bin will let you get through a couple glasses of juice before emptying. A wide chut opening lets you spend less time cutting fruit.

The juicer is a combination of plastic and stainless steel. Most importantly, the juicing blade is made of stainless steel so it will keep a sharp edge and last for years to come. I like the addition of suction cups to the bottom of the juicer to keep it in place on your counter. That sounds very handy.

While there are no reviews on The Source, I did find some on other websites. Reviews for this juicer are a mixed kettle of fish. Some people found it not worth the money ($100) and found the machine a bit messy. However, one reviewer at Home Depot reminded readers that:

It is not the best juicer out there, but it is in a good 100.00 juicer. It does leave wet pulp not getting all the juice out but in all fairness I have not read the manual yet. Make sure that it is put together snugly or you will have a mess. I have used better juicers but this one fits what I need for now and the price is right. clean up is not that bad if you do it right after you use it.

If this is a good juicer for $100, then I think it is an even better juicer at only $70. For anyone needing a juicer on a budget, this one certainly fits the bill. As the juicer costs over $29, it qualifies for free shipping to your home.

Sears Canada Coupon Code: Save the Tax Event – Get 15% Off

Posted by on April 2, 2015 at 4:59 PM

Sears Canada Coupon Code: Save the Tax Event Get 15% Off

Sears Canada has just launched their ‘save the tax’ event where you receive a flat 15% off your entire order of select sale items, regular priced items, and more.

Click here to shop @ Sears Canada now

  • Coupon Code: 941612317
  • Discount: 15% off
  • Expiry: 6th April 2015

This offer is better than an actual ‘save the tax’ offer where tax is not included on your order. This way, you receive the 15% discount before tax is calculated. So you will not only save money on your item, but you will also pay less as the calculated tax rate is less as the item you are buying costs less.

The offer is a flat 15% discount, which works out really well for those living in lower tax provinces. For those living in Alberta, you save three-times your tax rate!

The discount applies to the usual stuff like clothing, tools, toys, and more. For the full list of applicable items, visit the link above. Do note that the coupon excludes items with prices ending in .94, .88, .91 or .97. There are other exclusions, but these price ones always seem to trip me up. The outlet is also excluded (what a shame). Unusually, the coupon also works on some major appliances!

I checked out the appliance section because these are big-ticket items. I found a LG 7.3 Cu. Ft. Large-Capacity High-Efficiency Dryer on sale from $849.99 marked down to $649.99. Once I added it to my cart and added on the applicable coupon, the dryer came down to $552.50! One reviewer mentioned some of the best features of this dryer:

New Dryer has no problem Drying my King Size Duvet and at the right temperature. Has many choices for types of Drying. My Old one had 4. It is a quiet Dryer and with 2 Dogs and a Cat, I am finding much more of the hair is left on the Dryer Filter as opposed to on the clothing. It scares me to think of the amount that was left on the clothes previously.

I also checked out some Kenmore appliances, as the coupon is valid for that brand as well. The Kenmore /MD 24” Built-In Dishwasher- White is on sale from $549.99 down to $459.99. After coupon code, the dishwasher comes down to just $391 in my cart.

You will see the coupon applied at the last stage of checkout if your order is applicable. Given this coupon is valid on appliances and some bigger ticket items, I think it is a great deal. Shipping depends on what you buy and whether you want home delivery or delivery to store. Receive free shipping on lighter items when you spend $99 or more.

T-fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer Was $58.77 Now $39.88 & Free Shipping @! (QUICK)

T fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer Was $58.77 Now $39.88 & Free Shipping @! (QUICK)

Need some more appliances to fill up your kitchen cupboards? If you’re in the market for a deep fat fryer, there’s a very good price today from Walmart Canada on this T-fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer. It was $58.77 and it’s now down to only $39.88 with free shipping to most locations!

While this item is in stock at Walmart Canada just now, there’s no guarantee that this stock will last for long. If you would like to buy this deep fat fryer, I suggest you buy it now and don’t wait.

Price Compare!

I did a quick price comparison of the T-fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer and it leads me to believe that the price on Walmart is excellent. Elsewhere, this very same model is $70 @ Amazon (albeit in the stainless steel finish), $80 @ Home Hardware, $140 @ Canadian Tire (stainless steel too). We previously saw this item drop to $45 in this blog post last year, so $39.88 is an even lower price point now.

The reviews of this particular model on Walmart do seem promising though, with 20 reviewers giving it an average score of 4.5 stars out of 5. The one thing to keep in mind is that this deep fat fryer has a fixed bowl – you cannot take that out when cleaning and changing the oil. It’s a drawback, but to be expected in an item at as low a price point as this.

Personally, I can’t really say an awful lot about this deep fat fryer as I haven’t actually used one in many years, myself. I don’t really eat deep fried food unless it’s a treat from the take-out. I certainly don’t really cook any at home. I find that the smell is part of the issue for me – when deep frying, the oily smell fills the whole house. I have an aunt in Australia who uses a deep fryer, but she actually uses it in her back yard! I thought this was funny… but it means the smell doesn’t go through her house.

March 1 Sunbeam Wide Slot Toaster Only $12 & Free Shipping

Posted by on March 1, 2015 at 5:30 PM Sunbeam Wide Slot Toaster Only $12 & Free Shipping

Walmart Canada has a Sunbeam toaster on clearance right now. While the original price is not stated, the toaster will cost you only $11.94 with free shipping. Sunbeam is a household name in appliances, so I assume this toaster works decently well to toast your bread.

While there are no reviews, this toaster should perform just like any other more expensive toaster – it will toast your bread. It is as simple as that. There is the customary dial for how burnt you want your toast (known as the shade setting), and the usual leaver for pushing down and popping up your toast. The shade dial has seven shades to choose from for your toast. The lever will also lift your toast so you can pull it out without burning your fingers.

With the customary hinged crumb tray. This toaster will be simple to clean out when you need. Your only colour choice is white – so you may need to clean this toaster a bit more often than a black one if you want your appliances to stay spit spot clean.

I attempted to price compare this exact model of toaster, but could not find it anywhere else except at Walmart! The same brand and size of slot toaster (slightly newer model I assume), sells for a bit more. There is one on sale at kitchen Stuff Plus for $14.99 plus shipping and Best Buy Canada sells the toaster for $19.78. The next cheapest toaster at Walmart Canada costs $16.88.

While people are not buying new toasters every day, I do see them on the wish lists of people moving out on their own or getting divorced. I am part of a few community swap sites for my city, and toasters are among the appliances frequently requested by teens heading to university, young adults moving out on their own for the first time, and people starting over in a new city and in a new province. Often, when making large life changes, money is in short supply. That is why I think this $12 toaster with free shipping is such a good deal.

Breville One Touch Tea Maker Was $300 now $175 & Free Shipping @! (EXPIRED)

Posted by on January 25, 2015 at 7:00 AM

Breville One Touch Tea Maker Was $300 now $175 & Free Shipping @! (EXPIRED)

If you’re in the market for a tea maker, check out the sweet price on this Breville One Touch Tea Maker from Sears Canada. Originally priced at $299.99, the sale price is now $224.99. But this weekend, there’s also a coupon code to take $50 off $200+ on select items and it brings this small appliance down to only $174.99 with free shipping!

Use this Sears coupon code 941612154 to get an extra $50 off the marked price there, to avail of this deal.

Now, there are probably a few people out there wondering why the heck someone would spend nearly $200 on a tea maker. Well, there are plenty of people out there with expensive coffee machines in their homes, why not have an expensive tea maker? I for one, am a big tea drinker. I would drink an average of around five cups of tea each day. I think that’s a lot… but it’s a habit which is hard to crack.

Then there is also the argument of the quality of teas – instant tea bags compared to loose leaf tea. Loose leaf is obviously superior quality, but it’s more expensive and time-consuming to prepare. With the likes of this Breville tea maker, it can prepare your loose leaf tea to perfection.

Here’s a video from Youtube about this particular model of tea maker:

The machine looks good, I am tempted! The timer sounds really handy – it means you can set the tea maker to come on at a set time in the morning, so there’s a delicious cup of tea waiting for you. They also say that you can use this machine as a variable temperature tea kettle, without the tea basket. In the video, they mentioned that it can be used for things like hot chocolate and instant noodles. I thought you put the instant noodles in the device, but I listened again and it just means you can boil water for different things then prepare them OUTSIDE the Breville device. Breville One Touch Tea Maker Was $300 now $175 & Free Shipping @! (EXPIRED)

A review over on says:

I am in love with this machine… It’s only been a month and I am already experimenting with different tea leaves.

That’s what would interest me, to be honest. I’m pretty staunch in my tea drinking habits, I’d really like to try different flavours and I am sure this machine is the type of thing that would encourage me to do so.

As for a price comparison, the RRP on states $299.99, and you can buy it there for that price. The tea maker is currently selling for $224 on, and the same at Future Shop and Best Buy.

Obviously not everyone is going to be interested in this deal… I think there are probably more coffee hounds than tea lovers out there. But it is a great price for this particular Breville tea maker model from Sears Canada.

Hudson’s Bay: $70 Off Nespresso U D50 Machine – Now $129.95 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on January 20, 2015 at 5:00 PM

Hudsons Bay: $70 Off Nespresso U D50 Machine Now $129.95 (EXPIRED)

Hudson’s Bay has a special sale on Nespresso machines on currently, with up to $70 off machines and kit. This Nespresso U D50 Espresso Machine in pure orange was $199.95, and is now on sale for $129.95. The Nespresso machine will also qualify for free shipping, as it is above the required minimum.

Price comparing this unit was difficult, as most places are sold out of the unit. My colleague Margarita found the same machine at EspressoPlanet for $199. The only difference is that the Espresso Planet unit is black, while the unit on Hudson’s Bay is orange.

This is the perfect little unit for the single coffee drinker in the family. The single-serve machine features sleek lines with an upside-down U shape front. The U heats up in only 25-30 seconds, giving you a morning coffee almost as soon as you can coordinate hand to mouth. The auto power-off after 9 minutes is helpful for absent-minded morning lovers who are just trying to remember where they left their keys, or their car, from the night before.

Additional features include:

  • Water level detection
  • Cable storage,
  • Backlight indicators
  • automatic volume control
  • 19 bar high pressure pump

I prefer milk drinks because they taste delicious and calcium is good for you anyway. A chai latte a day could not hurt anyway, could it? With my love for dairy, the folding drip tray for milk recipes would be appreciated.

The machine also holds 10 used capsules, so there is no need to empty it each time you brew. The removable 24 oz. water tank makes for easy filling and lets you make several drinks before needing to refill. Hypothetically, if your morning coffee is 8 oz, then the water reservoir holds four drinks worth before it runs bone dry.

While I have seen the black model, I rather love the beautiful brunt orange and think it resembles a golden sky when the sun is setting. The orange and black combination looks marvellous together – this is one beautiful machine. While I do not drink coffee, thus have never been able to justify purchasing a brewer, I think this one would be at the top of my list if I ever decided to enable my chai latte habit.
