Sears Canada Coupon Code: Save the Tax Event – Get 15% Off

Sears Canada Coupon Code: Save the Tax Event Get 15% Off

Sears Canada has just launched their ‘save the tax’ event where you receive a flat 15% off your entire order of select sale items, regular priced items, and more.

Click here to shop @ Sears Canada now

  • Coupon Code: 941612317
  • Discount: 15% off
  • Expiry: 6th April 2015

This offer is better than an actual ‘save the tax’ offer where tax is not included on your order. This way, you receive the 15% discount before tax is calculated. So you will not only save money on your item, but you will also pay less as the calculated tax rate is less as the item you are buying costs less.

The offer is a flat 15% discount, which works out really well for those living in lower tax provinces. For those living in Alberta, you save three-times your tax rate!

The discount applies to the usual stuff like clothing, tools, toys, and more. For the full list of applicable items, visit the link above. Do note that the coupon excludes items with prices ending in .94, .88, .91 or .97. There are other exclusions, but these price ones always seem to trip me up. The outlet is also excluded (what a shame). Unusually, the coupon also works on some major appliances!

I checked out the appliance section because these are big-ticket items. I found a LG 7.3 Cu. Ft. Large-Capacity High-Efficiency Dryer on sale from $849.99 marked down to $649.99. Once I added it to my cart and added on the applicable coupon, the dryer came down to $552.50! One reviewer mentioned some of the best features of this dryer:

New Dryer has no problem Drying my King Size Duvet and at the right temperature. Has many choices for types of Drying. My Old one had 4. It is a quiet Dryer and with 2 Dogs and a Cat, I am finding much more of the hair is left on the Dryer Filter as opposed to on the clothing. It scares me to think of the amount that was left on the clothes previously.

I also checked out some Kenmore appliances, as the coupon is valid for that brand as well. The Kenmore /MD 24” Built-In Dishwasher- White is on sale from $549.99 down to $459.99. After coupon code, the dishwasher comes down to just $391 in my cart.

You will see the coupon applied at the last stage of checkout if your order is applicable. Given this coupon is valid on appliances and some bigger ticket items, I think it is a great deal. Shipping depends on what you buy and whether you want home delivery or delivery to store. Receive free shipping on lighter items when you spend $99 or more.

T-fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer Was $58.77 Now $39.88 & Free Shipping @ Walmart.ca! (QUICK)

T fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer Was $58.77 Now $39.88 & Free Shipping @ Walmart.ca! (QUICK)

Need some more appliances to fill up your kitchen cupboards? If you’re in the market for a deep fat fryer, there’s a very good price today from Walmart Canada on this T-fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer. It was $58.77 and it’s now down to only $39.88 with free shipping to most locations!

While this item is in stock at Walmart Canada just now, there’s no guarantee that this stock will last for long. If you would like to buy this deep fat fryer, I suggest you buy it now and don’t wait.

Price Compare!

I did a quick price comparison of the T-fal Filtra ONE Deep Fryer and it leads me to believe that the price on Walmart is excellent. Elsewhere, this very same model is $70 @ Amazon (albeit in the stainless steel finish), $80 @ Home Hardware, $140 @ Canadian Tire (stainless steel too). We previously saw this item drop to $45 in this blog post last year, so $39.88 is an even lower price point now.

Reviews!

The reviews of this particular model on Walmart do seem promising though, with 20 reviewers giving it an average score of 4.5 stars out of 5. The one thing to keep in mind is that this deep fat fryer has a fixed bowl – you cannot take that out when cleaning and changing the oil. It’s a drawback, but to be expected in an item at as low a price point as this.

Personally, I can’t really say an awful lot about this deep fat fryer as I haven’t actually used one in many years, myself. I don’t really eat deep fried food unless it’s a treat from the take-out. I certainly don’t really cook any at home. I find that the smell is part of the issue for me – when deep frying, the oily smell fills the whole house. I have an aunt in Australia who uses a deep fryer, but she actually uses it in her back yard! I thought this was funny… but it means the smell doesn’t go through her house.

Walmart.ca: Sunbeam Wide Slot Toaster Only $12 & Free Shipping

Posted by on March 1, 2015 at 5:30 PM

Walmart.ca: Sunbeam Wide Slot Toaster Only $12 & Free Shipping

Walmart Canada has a Sunbeam toaster on clearance right now. While the original price is not stated, the toaster will cost you only $11.94 with free shipping. Sunbeam is a household name in appliances, so I assume this toaster works decently well to toast your bread.

While there are no reviews, this toaster should perform just like any other more expensive toaster – it will toast your bread. It is as simple as that. There is the customary dial for how burnt you want your toast (known as the shade setting), and the usual leaver for pushing down and popping up your toast. The shade dial has seven shades to choose from for your toast. The lever will also lift your toast so you can pull it out without burning your fingers.

With the customary hinged crumb tray. This toaster will be simple to clean out when you need. Your only colour choice is white – so you may need to clean this toaster a bit more often than a black one if you want your appliances to stay spit spot clean.

I attempted to price compare this exact model of toaster, but could not find it anywhere else except at Walmart! The same brand and size of slot toaster (slightly newer model I assume), sells for a bit more. There is one on sale at kitchen Stuff Plus for $14.99 plus shipping and Best Buy Canada sells the toaster for $19.78. The next cheapest toaster at Walmart Canada costs $16.88.

While people are not buying new toasters every day, I do see them on the wish lists of people moving out on their own or getting divorced. I am part of a few community swap sites for my city, and toasters are among the appliances frequently requested by teens heading to university, young adults moving out on their own for the first time, and people starting over in a new city and in a new province. Often, when making large life changes, money is in short supply. That is why I think this $12 toaster with free shipping is such a good deal.

Breville One Touch Tea Maker Was $300 now $175 & Free Shipping @ Sears.ca! (EXPIRED)

Breville One Touch Tea Maker Was $300 now $175 & Free Shipping @ Sears.ca! (EXPIRED)

If you’re in the market for a tea maker, check out the sweet price on this Breville One Touch Tea Maker from Sears Canada. Originally priced at $299.99, the sale price is now $224.99. But this weekend, there’s also a coupon code to take $50 off $200+ on select items and it brings this small appliance down to only $174.99 with free shipping!

Use this Sears coupon code 941612154 to get an extra $50 off the marked price there, to avail of this deal.

Now, there are probably a few people out there wondering why the heck someone would spend nearly $200 on a tea maker. Well, there are plenty of people out there with expensive coffee machines in their homes, why not have an expensive tea maker? I for one, am a big tea drinker. I would drink an average of around five cups of tea each day. I think that’s a lot… but it’s a habit which is hard to crack.

Then there is also the argument of the quality of teas – instant tea bags compared to loose leaf tea. Loose leaf is obviously superior quality, but it’s more expensive and time-consuming to prepare. With the likes of this Breville tea maker, it can prepare your loose leaf tea to perfection.

Here’s a video from Youtube about this particular model of tea maker:

The machine looks good, I am tempted! The timer sounds really handy – it means you can set the tea maker to come on at a set time in the morning, so there’s a delicious cup of tea waiting for you. They also say that you can use this machine as a variable temperature tea kettle, without the tea basket. In the video, they mentioned that it can be used for things like hot chocolate and instant noodles. I thought you put the instant noodles in the device, but I listened again and it just means you can boil water for different things then prepare them OUTSIDE the Breville device. Breville One Touch Tea Maker Was $300 now $175 & Free Shipping @ Sears.ca! (EXPIRED)

A review over on Costco.ca says:

I am in love with this machine… It’s only been a month and I am already experimenting with different tea leaves.

That’s what would interest me, to be honest. I’m pretty staunch in my tea drinking habits, I’d really like to try different flavours and I am sure this machine is the type of thing that would encourage me to do so.

As for a price comparison, the RRP on Breville.ca states $299.99, and you can buy it there for that price. The tea maker is currently selling for $224 on Amazon.ca, and the same at Future Shop and Best Buy.

Obviously not everyone is going to be interested in this deal… I think there are probably more coffee hounds than tea lovers out there. But it is a great price for this particular Breville tea maker model from Sears Canada.

Hudson’s Bay: $70 Off Nespresso U D50 Machine – Now $129.95 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on January 20, 2015 at 5:00 PM

Hudsons Bay: $70 Off Nespresso U D50 Machine Now $129.95 (EXPIRED)

Hudson’s Bay has a special sale on Nespresso machines on currently, with up to $70 off machines and kit. This Nespresso U D50 Espresso Machine in pure orange was $199.95, and is now on sale for $129.95. The Nespresso machine will also qualify for free shipping, as it is above the required minimum.

Price comparing this unit was difficult, as most places are sold out of the unit. My colleague Margarita found the same machine at EspressoPlanet for $199. The only difference is that the Espresso Planet unit is black, while the unit on Hudson’s Bay is orange.

This is the perfect little unit for the single coffee drinker in the family. The single-serve machine features sleek lines with an upside-down U shape front. The U heats up in only 25-30 seconds, giving you a morning coffee almost as soon as you can coordinate hand to mouth. The auto power-off after 9 minutes is helpful for absent-minded morning lovers who are just trying to remember where they left their keys, or their car, from the night before.

Additional features include:

  • Water level detection
  • Cable storage,
  • Backlight indicators
  • automatic volume control
  • 19 bar high pressure pump

I prefer milk drinks because they taste delicious and calcium is good for you anyway. A chai latte a day could not hurt anyway, could it? With my love for dairy, the folding drip tray for milk recipes would be appreciated.

The machine also holds 10 used capsules, so there is no need to empty it each time you brew. The removable 24 oz. water tank makes for easy filling and lets you make several drinks before needing to refill. Hypothetically, if your morning coffee is 8 oz, then the water reservoir holds four drinks worth before it runs bone dry.

While I have seen the black model, I rather love the beautiful brunt orange and think it resembles a golden sky when the sun is setting. The orange and black combination looks marvellous together – this is one beautiful machine. While I do not drink coffee, thus have never been able to justify purchasing a brewer, I think this one would be at the top of my list if I ever decided to enable my chai latte habit.

Lowes Canada: Igloo Mini Fridge Was $100 | Now $60 (Or $50 WIth Coupon!) (EXPIRED)

Lowes Canada: Igloo Mini Fridge Was $100 | Now $60 (Or $50 WIth Coupon!) (EXPIRED)

Trying to keep cold beverages in a room other than the kitchen? Right now Lowes.ca has the Igloo White 1.7 cu ft mini fridge on sale from $99.99 down to $59.99.

If you have a finished basement like I do, complete with a TV and sofa – then you know how unnecessary it feels to have to walk all the way up stairs to grab a drink during your favourite TV show or game. I have yet to invest in a mini refrigerator to solve this issue, but this might be our lucky day. While this mini fridge might not be fancy stainless steel or a top brand name, $59.99 is an excellent price considering the stainless steel model (also 1.7 cu ft) is $119.00.

This Igloo Mini Fridge has 1.7 cu ft capacity, which is plenty to store some pop, beer and maybe some veggies and dip! There is a door basket for 2L bottles and if you plan it right, you can store cups neatly on top. The flush back design of this Igloo Mini Refrigerator is to space save. It also features an adjustable thermostat if you want to keep things a little cooler. Have a hard to fit space for this item? The dimensions are 20.47 inches x 18.31 inches x 16.73 inches and it weighs about 38 pounds. The door is also reversible.

All in all, I would sacrifice the stainless steel option to save money – that is for sure! It also seems like an adequate amount of space for a basement, basement apartment, maybe even dorm room? Where have you required a mini fridge?

I had to head over to Walmart.com to find a review on this product, since there was none available on Lowes.ca as yet. The first review that caught my attention read:

I bought this mini fridge to keep at the office. I use it to keep six packs of beer cold. I mean soda… This is a perfect fridge for an office or garage space. It is very light weight and easy to carry. I have no complaints.

You will want to place your order by December 18th to ensure that you receive your purchase in time for Christmas. Lowes.ca is offering free parcel shipping with no minimum purchase, which does apply to this item to make the savings even better.

You’ll want to sign up for their newsletter if you haven’t, and you can get a coupon for another $10 off your $50 purchase.

WalMart Canada: RCA 1.7 Cubic Foot Mini Fridge Clearance | Was $98 Now $68

Posted by on September 27, 2014 at 12:30 PM

WalMart Canada: RCA 1.7 Cubic Foot Mini Fridge Clearance | Was $98 Now $68

All settled into your college dorm, but your old fridge isn’t cutting it? Or are you looking for the perfect fridge to fit into your garage or basement that can store plenty of drinks and snacks? WalMart currently has their RCA 1.7 Cubic Foot Mini Fridges on clearance for just $68 (regular price is $98), and you can choose from three colours: red, blue, and green. Best of all, you’ll get free shipping!

This RCA 1.7 Cubic Foot Mini Fridge has a door basket that’s large enough to carry 2 litre bottles and canned drinks, and it would truly compliment any bed room, dorm room, or garage that you put it in. It’s got a nice bright look to it, and it carries the dependable and reputable RCA name.

I once had a mini fridge back when I was 12 years old, and I absolutely loved it! It wasn’t nearly as nice as this RCA mini fridge (it had a woodgrain exterior… it was an older model that I bought at a garage sale), but we had it in our hallway during the summer months. It was especially handy for me at the time when it was the middle of the night – if I needed a nice cold drink, I just stumbled into my hallway and got a drink from the mini fridge.

These machines are very convenient, and thankfully. this RCA model is aesthetically pleasing. If you wanted to buy this RCA 1.7 Cubic Foot Mini Fridge on Amazon’s American website, it would cost you $99.99 US (besides WalMart, I found it challenging to find this particular fridge in Canada). I haven’t been able to find any reviews on this fridge, but as long as it’s able to maintain a cold temperature, I think it serves its purpose.

This item is currently on clearance at WalMart, so if you’re looking for a mini fridge, you should consider purchasing this before it’s gone. I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend, Bargainmoosers!

Newegg Canada: Panda Portable Countertop Washing Machine Now $100 + Free Shipping

Posted by on September 10, 2014 at 12:00 PM

Newegg Canada: Panda Portable Countertop Washing Machine Now $100 + Free Shipping

Newegg Canada has some cool things once in a while, but this one takes the cake in my books of functionality and form. Pick up a brand new Panda Portable Mini Compact Countertop Washing Machine Washer for just $99.99 (was $139.99) with free shipping to most urban sprawls around Canada.

I did a little price comparing and I say a little because this unit is not widely available. I found it for $119.99 + $15 shipping from Panda through Amazon.ca. I also found this unit sold on eBay for $89.99 US + $25US shipping = $114.99US, which translates across to approximately $126 CAN with the current exchange rate. More than 1,111 units have sold on eBay so let us just say that this little machine is popular! However, Newegg Canada certainly has the best price.

This is a mini washing machine. It can handle 5.5 lbs of clothing. Just plug it in, fill with laundry, add soap and water, close the lid, and set your timer. There is no spin dry cycle, but ringing clothes out by hand never hurt anyone. Your mini washer will also need access to drainage for the ‘drain hose’ so a bathtub, sink, or patch of grass (use natural soap please) is necessary.

Here is a review I thought would give you some additional insight:

I tried my compact washer today. It was perfect! I found it’s easier to put it in the bathtub, because it has a handle on a back & it can be tilted to fill it with water from bathtub tap. So I didn’t use the hose. Rinsing was easy: tilt using a handle, fill it with clean water, 3 min rinse, drain, repeat. It was a bit more noisy when I put it in the bathtub & when I poured more water. Nothing excessive though. Clothes came fresh, clean & surprisingly soft (even without fabric softener.) Only regret I had:”Why didn’t I buy this washer long time ago!

This is an alternative to shoveling coins in a laundry mat and sitting atop the washing machine (generally frowned upon) while waiting for your clothes to be washed. This little washing machine may only take mini loads, but over time, it will save you a bundle of not just money but time. I wish I had known about this when I was single and lived on my own… every load of laundry cost me $4 in my building. I would have much rather bought a mini washer and hung my clothes to dry. At least then I would have something to show for my money. This fantastic little washer is also great for dorms, traveling, and camping (if you have electricity).

The Bay Canada: $100 Off KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer + Bonus Ice Cream Bowl ($130 Value)

Posted by on July 14, 2014 at 4:30 PM

The Bay Canada: $100 Off KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer + Bonus Ice Cream Bowl ($130 Value)

Have you been wanting to buy the KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer? For the next couple of days, The Bay is offering a free ice cream bowl with the purchase of any KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer, which is also on sale for just $349.99 (reg. $449.99).

On its own, the KitchenAid ice cream stand mixer usually retails for $129.99 and it’s definitely a pretty nifty tool to have alongside the stand mixer. Although you can buy any regular ice cream maker for as low as $29 at Walmart, the KitchenAid far outweighs all of them because it takes less space, is bigger and the motor is known to last longer. This promotion also perfectly coincides with the current hot weather as you could use the bonus ice cream bowl to make frozen treats for the whole family to enjoy and cool off with as it sure beats overspending on Dairy Queen every day!

Amazon has the Artisan mixer on sale for $349.99 but the fact that The Bay is throwing in a free ice cream bowl is what pushes this deal over the edge. Arguably, Costco is selling the KitchenAid Professional 6000 lift stand mixer for $359.99 and while it’s only $10 more for a mixer that can hold more (5.7 L as opposed to 2.1 L with the Artisan), I actually have the professional one and I wish I would have gotten the artisan instead. The reason for this is that while I fancy myself a baker, I don’t bake nearly as often or as much as I would like. So if like me, you don’t see yourself making dozens upon dozens of cookies simultaneously or say, multiple triple-layered chocolate cakes, then I would definitely recommend the Artisan one.

Other points to consider when debating between the Artisan and the Professional is that the latter is much taller and may not fit on your counter, especially if your cupboards are lower. I also wonder about the effectiveness of making regular batches in such a large container as the Professional and I would think that a regular mixer would perfect mix much better.

You can also save up to 40% off a variety of KitchenAid small appliances as well right now. Among these, I found the KitchenAid Architect blender in candy apple red on sale for just $129.99 instead of $199.99. It can hold up to 48oz and has 5 different blend speeds: stir, mix, chop, puree, liquefy or chop ice.

Since The Bay typically offers free shipping on orders over $99, your order will also be shipped free of charge.

Shop.ca: Cuisinart Smart Power Duet Now $69.99

Posted by on June 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM

Shop.ca: Cuisinart Smart Power Duet Now $69.99

The Cuisinart Smart Power Duet is both a food processor and a blender in one. According to Shop.ca, the suggested retail price was $149.99 and they have it on sale for just $69.99.

I did a bit of price comparing. This machine is hard to find in Canada but I found it at Bed, Bath, & Beyond Canada for $99.99. On eBay the machine started at $99.99 + shipping, and the cheapest of the Amazon.ca marketplace sellers had it for $119 + $30 shipping.

If you live in a small apartment, a bachelor suite, or a studio apartment, then you know how important it is to keep only the bare necessities when it comes to kitchen appliances. We live in a 650 sqft. apartment so I am very familiar with the limited space a galley style kitchen provides. However, we have both a food processor and a blender that we use. The blender is used on a daily basis while the food processor is taken out a few times a month. The Cuisinart Smart Power Duet would be very practical in my household as the blender attachment would stay on the base at most all times, and the food processor attachment would just come out when we are making casseroles.

I am a big fan of appliances that do double-duty and save space, so this Cuisinart Smart Power Duet is attractive. Instead of two separate appliances sitting on your counter or in a cupboard, this is one base with two attachments. You have the 40oz glass blender jar for all your smoothies and summer drinks. Then, you have the work bowl that holds three cups of ingredients, the cover with feeding tube and pusher (with a liquid dispenser), and a reversible slicing/shredding disc. While most food processors come with multiple disks these days, we have nine disks for our food processor and have only ever used the basic shredder/slicer. Anyone want a set of food processor disks?

Do keep in mind that this will not be as powerful as a dedicated food processor or a dedicated blender. Yet, most people do not need the sort of power that a big food processor can dish out unless they are using it every day. This Cuisinart Duet does have seven speeds and a 500-watt motor though, so enough power to get through the daily grind.

Receive free shipping on all orders from Shop.ca.

Walmart Canada: Danby Compact Refrigerator Only $88

Walmart Canada: Danby Compact Refrigerator Only $88

Is your man cave missing something very important? What about your shed, garage or back deck? If you are tired of getting up from your lounge chair and going to the fridge for beer, you might just need a compact fridge. Luckily for you, Walmart has one on sale for only $88, was $118.

This fridge is 1.7 cu. ft. and even has a little freezer inside for your ice and frozen foods.  It is also equipped with a CanStor beverage dispenser and a 2L bottle storage, so this baby really was meant for drinks! Of course, you can use it for food too, and it would be perfect for a dorm room or under your desk at the office. I hated sharing a fridge with everyone else at my office as seriously, people steal your food. I found it crazy that someone would take my homemade Pad Thai, but they did and I would have to go without that day. Get rid of that problem by having your own under-desk fridge. And considering it is Energy Star compliant, no one will complain about higher hydro bills.

If you’d like something larger, I did see that there was also another fridge on rollback. The 4.3 cu. ft Danby is now only $148.98, down from $198.

Of course, it will also ship for free so you’ll save there as well.

Amazon Canada: Cuisinart Brewing System $39.99 (Was $120)

Posted by on May 10, 2014 at 10:30 PM

Amazon Canada: Cuisinart Brewing System $39.99 (Was $120)

Amazon.ca has a smashing deal on the Cuisinart SS-300C Compact Single Serve Brewing System for Keurig K-cups. Originally $119.99, the system is on sale for $39.99.

I did a little price comparing. This exact system (I compared model numbers) costs $149.99 at Future Shop. I found it on sale at London Drugs for $99.99 and Cookworks.ca was the best competitor with their clearance price of $69.99. Despite this Cuisinart brewer being on sale and clearance at other places, Amazon’s price is the best.

The brewer’s reservoir holds up to 10 oz of water and brews in under two minutes. The reviews on this machine are pretty divided with one review for each possible ranking. A couple reviewers said that the water wasn’t hot enough and one of those reviewers gives very good suggestions for how to easily increase the temperature. Another reviewer warned that coffee mugs do not fit in the brewer cup area so you would need to transfer your beverage.

Most of these reviews (including the positive) were given when the compact brewer was a much higher price. For this much of a lower price, I think it is worthy of consideration.

You will get free shipping on the brewer as it costs over $25.

With the first of month only a couple of days ago, I’m pretty sure that some of you will be moving or plan on doing so soon at least. But even if you’re not, then major appliances are the kind of items that simply can’t be avoid, so if you’re in need of new ones, then Home Depot’s event is definitely one to consider.

Just to give you an idea, this LG LDF8072ST dishwasher has 5 stars out of 5 at Home Depot right now and is 20% off, at just $1,198 (reg. $1498). At Future Shop, this same dishwasher is actually as high as $1,399.99!

Same goes for this Samsung SMH1816S micro-wave: it’s on sale for $228 (reg. $348), but Future Shop has it for $269.95 and Sears even sells it for as high as $379.99!

Depending on what you need, just make sure to compare prices with all of the other major retailers. Also keep in mind that shipping charges vary per product and you may need to call to order.
