Vipre AntiVirus: 2 Years Of Protection For The Price Of 1

Vipre AntiVirus: 2 Years Of Protection For The Price Of 1

Hire a Vipre to protect your computer for two years, but only pay it for one with Vipre Anti Virus!

Okay, you can’t actually hire a vipre to protect your computer. Actually, you can, but that would be stupid. What’s a vipre going to do with your money? Instead, you can pick up Vipre Anti Virus for two years for the price of one. The way anti virus programs work is that the program will work forever, but you need to buy access to the signatures. Signatures are basically the files that tell your AV program what is a virus and what isn’t. They are also called definitions.

I think everyone needs at least an anti-virus program. You might not need the full blown Internet Security bundles with all the bells and whistles (although some do) to protect your social media, laptop, tablet, phone, etc, but you really should have an AV solution of some sort. It really doesn’t matter how proficient you are at computers, there is always a chance you’ll get hit with an infection.

Protection for one PC for two years is normally $69.99, but you will save $20 and get two years for the price of one, only $49.99. If you have more machines, you can get a license for up to ten computers for only $69.99. That’s $30 off the regular $99.99 price tag for two years.

This is a digital download, so there is no shipping.

AVG: Get 40% of AntiVirus or Internet Security 2014 when you Pay with PayPal!

AVG: Get 40% of AntiVirus or Internet Security 2014 when you Pay with PayPal!

Get AVG Anti Virus 2014 or Internet Security 2014 for 40% off when you pay with PayPal!

You have the use the above link to get the deal.

PayPal has been doing a lot of these deals lately. Get a percent off or some cash back when paying with their service. I think this is the biggest product discount I’ve seen them offer.

They’re offering the discount on a fantastic product though. AVG was the first really popular free anti-virus program. People flocked to the program because, up until then, the only players in town were Norton and McAfee. Of course there were other free ones and other paid ones but that was kind of it. I remember people were just amazed that someone was offering a free  anti-virus program.

Of course they needed to make some money so they are offering up a paid version with more protection. This is the version, AVG Anti Virus 2014, that you can buy here for $23.99 (was $39.99, save $16) or you can get a bit more protection with AVG Internet Security 2014 for $32.99 (was $54.99, save $22) if you feel like a little more. Remember though, you only get the deals when you pay with PayPal!

These are digital downloads so there is no shipping.

BullGuard: 70% off Various Computer Security Programs

Posted by on January 20, 2014 at 6:45 PM

BullGuard: 70% off Various Computer Security Programs

Get 70% off three great BullGuard products.

To get this deal you have to use the link above. This is what you get with the discount.

  • BullGuard Antivirus – Was $29.95 – Save $20.96 – Now $8.99
  • BullGuard Internet Security – Was $59.95 – Save $41.96 – Now $17.99
  • BullGuard Premium Security – Was $99.95 – Save $69.96 – Now $29.99

This is a classic good, better, best. You get all the stuff you’d expect from a good security program (Anti-Virus/Spyware, gamer mode, spam filter, browser protection, etc.) but for a bit more you can get 5GB of online backup space, vulnerability scanner, parental controls and a firewall. Pay a bit more and get identity protection and social media protection. You also get a 20GB bump in your cloud storage space.

As far as which program you get, it’s really a personal thing. If you know your stuff as far as computers go, you probably don’t need the full on Premium Security thing. You’re likely more of a straight up Anti-Virus customer. If you’re completely hopeless, don’t really know what you’re clicking on, call your kids for help all the time, you might just need the Premium Security suite.

As far as when this expires, there is a countdown timer that says this deal has expired, however it still works so, I don’t know. I guess the ending time is up in the air. There is no shipping as it is a digital PC download.

WebRoot Security Anywhere: Free 14-Day Trial – No Credit Card Needed

Posted by on November 12, 2013 at 6:30 PM

WebRoot Security Anywhere: Free 14 Day Trial No Credit Card Needed

Stay safe and secure online with a free trial of WebRoot Security Anywhere!

**In the spirit of full disclosure, I want to mention that I received a free copy of WebRoot AntiVirus to evaluate, if it wasn’t good, I wouldn’t write it.

I’m not generally one to get all alarmist about computer security stuff. I don’t want to scare people in to buying a product but today I’m going to do just that. And I’ll even preface this by saying I don’t even care if you get WebRoot. Of course getting WebRoot would be a great idea; it is a superb product. But we’ll talk about that after I scare you.

I’m gonna talk about the Cryptolocker ransomware virus. This virus, once it infects your computer, searches out all the documents, pictures, spreadsheets, AutoCAD drawings and a few others and encrypts them, This means that you cannot open them. It encrypts them with something called 2048-bit RSA encryption which, at this point, is unbreakable and will remain as such for a long time. Once they have successfully stopped you from accessing your personal files and family photos, they pop up a message asking for money. If you pay them then you get your files unencrypted. If you don’t pay them they offer you one more chance to unencrypt them at a much higher price. If you still don’t comply they delete the key and the files are gone forever. The numbers I’ve heard are 72 hours and $300 but I’m not sure exactly.

If you have Cryptolocker and your files are encrypted, you’re toast. Sorry for your loss. If you have Cryptolocker and it hasn’t encrypted your files or you don’t have it yet, you need to get an antivirus program to stop it. My suggestion? WebRoot. I’ve been playing around with it and it is great. The software itself is very good and scored 100% on part of a recent MRG Effitas test. The real value in WebRoot is its community. It has a very active community and any question you have has probably already been answered in the forums. It’s great. And it’s all yours for free for 14 days. You don’t even need a credit card for the trial.

I haven’t bought (or regularly used) an anti-virus program in over a decade. I’ve been using a free AntiVirus on my wife’s computer and on the few occasions I used one of mine, it was a free one. I have the free copy WebRoot game to me on my computer right now and I will be picking up a copy of this to put on my wife’s computer. It is a fantastic product.

TechGenie: Free Antivirus Software

TechGenie: Free Antivirus Software

Protect yourself on the internet with your own personal TechGenie!

I’m going to be honest with you folks (because, you know, I lie to you about everything else) and tell you that I have never heard of TechGenie. It’s a weird thing for me to write up a piece of software I’ve never used. In a past life I ran a small tech and gaming blog where I would often write up reviews of apps I’ve used and liked. Back then it was my job to tell people what apps were good. Nowadays, at BargainMoose, my job is to tell people where the deals are. It was kind of a tough mental hurdle to get over but I’ve decided that I’m here to save you money, not pick your software.

So, submitted for your approval, TechGenie AntiVirus. These guys offer a pile of different paid options for Internet security, PV optimizers and a bunch of other programs. You can get stuff for home or enterprise. TechGenie knows it’s hard out there for a software developer to get noticed with all the big names so to get you in their ecosystem they are offering a free AntiVirus solution. It has everything you would come to expect from a modern AV program and best of all it’s free. You can test it against the tons of other free solutions out there and pick the one that’s best for you!

Dell Canada: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 1 PC 2014 Now $6 (Was $40)

Dell Canada: McAfee AntiVirus Plus 1 PC 2014 Now $6 (Was $40)

Is your anti-virus ready for the new year? If not be sure to pick up the McAfee AntiVirus Plus 1 PC 2014 for only $5.99, which is a huge discount from $39.99. The AntiVirus software requires only a download so there is no shipping.

Dell is not deep linking so just search “McAfee AntiVirus Plus 1 PC 2014″ and click on the download version.

I have McAfee AntiVirus and although it is hardly the cat’s meow, it generally does the job. Generally I say because sometimes I get these strange reports that say my anti-virus and firewall have been turned off when I, most certainly, have not turned them off. However, that has only happened a couple times. Most of the time it does its scan when it should and keeps my computer free of viruses. For only $5.99 this is pretty much a steal at that price. I constantly get emails from McAfee asking me to renew my AntiVirus and the price they are offering most certainly is not $5.99 or I would have renewed by now.

BullGuard: 50% off BullGuard Internet Security 2014 ($30)

Posted by on October 21, 2013 at 7:30 PM

BullGuard: 50% off BullGuard Internet Security 2014 ($30)

BullGuard Internet Security 2014 is here and you can get it for 50% less!

I’ve never used BullGuard but they seem to have their stuff in order. They are a full service Internet Security Suite as opposed to your traditional AntiVirus solution. They have parental controls, backup, download protection, website checking, game mode, firewall, anti-spam filters and tons of other great features that you need nowadays. They also focus a lot on their easy-to-use interface, which is important. I’m a computer guy so I have no problem with a somewhat difficult interface but someone who may not be as sophisticated a computer user as I am is more likely to just ignore their security if it’s too hard to figure out. Making a program that is easy to use is key when getting “normal” computer users to care about their security.

On top of that you get the licence for three people and free upgrades to newer versions. You get all that for only $29.98. That’s 50% off the original price of $59.95. Not too shabby. It’s only $10 per computer. There is no shipping as it is a digital PC download.

ZoneAlarm Canada: Save 50%+ Off Various Security Programs & Free PC Tune Up Bundle

Get the knowledge and experience of the ZoneAlarm guys at a great discount.

I say ZoneAlarm has been around forever, but according to the book of knowledge, Wikipedia, it’s been about 13 years. I thought it was longer than that, but I guess not. Regardless, 13 years in technology is like 50 years in the real world. It’s kind of surreal, actually, to look back on how much stuff has happened since 2000.

One thing that has happened is that it’s gotten more dangerous on the internet. Now, I’m not an alarmist, so I don’t want to freak you out about being on the internet. The internet is awesome. The problem is that there are a lot of people who don’t understand it. Luckily for those people, companies like ZoneAlarm exist to help protect you. ZoneAlarm is best known as a firewall maker, but they have a lot more to offer.

  • ZoneAlarm PRO Antivirus + Firewall plus PC Tune-up – Was $69.95 – Save $50 – Now $19.95
  • ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite plus PC Tune-up – Was $79.95 – Save $45 – Now $34.95
  • ZoneAlarm Extreme Security plus PC Tune-up – Was $89.95 – Save $50 – Now $39.95

The prices above are not including the PC Tune-up, which you get for free. It retails for $19.95, so you can add another $19.95 on to the savings above!

This is for a digital download of the software, so there is no shipping.

Norton Canada: Up to $40 Off Norton Anti-Virus

Posted by on July 2, 2013 at 7:30 PM

Norton Canada: Up to $40 Off Norton Anti Virus

Get up to $40 off select Norton Anti-Virus software packages online at Norton Canada.

There are two software packages on sale:

Norton Internet Security includes both antivirus protection and online identity protection. Originally $79.99 (though it says $89.99 another place) it is on sale for $49.99 if you buy the 1 year/ 3 PCs pack. The sale price is only valid for the 1yr/PC packs. It is compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7, XP, and Vista.

Norton 360 is your complete protection package. Originally $89.99 it is on sale for $49.99. It offers everything you could want in an antivirus and in internet protection. It is also compatible with Vista through Windows 8 platforms.

The one thing I hate about Norton (one of the many things actually) is that they sign you up for an auto-renew service: “Your subscription purchase today includes enrollment in the Norton Automatic Renewal Service”. This you should be aware of so you can go in to your account or get ahold of customer service to get it cancelled should you not want them auto-billing you every year.

Thanks to billjacobus1 for the pic!

VIPREAntivirus.com: $30 Off VIPRE Security Anywhere – PC & Mobile Security On Up To 10 Devices

Posted by on June 19, 2013 at 2:30 PM

VIPREAntivirus.com: $30 Off VIPRE Security Anywhere PC & Mobile Security On Up To 10 Devices

Protect all your devices, and save $30 while you’re at it.

VIPRE is offering their Security Anywhere package for $49.99! That’s a $30 discount off of the normal $79.99 price tag. And of course, this is a PC and Android download, so no shipping costs. Isn’t the Internet awesome?

At first I thought that this “protection for up to ten devices thing” was just them saying “Look at us! We offer TEN licenses! We’re awesome!”. Then I realized that this is actually a normal use case. A mom, dad and two kids could easily have five computers and five Android devices. Me, my wife and my three year old son actively use two computers and four Android devices. Once my boy is a bit older, he’s gonna have a computer too. I suspect a lot people out there could really use this many licenses.

When I click through to this deal, it is showing up at $47.35. I’m not sure why. I thought, at first, maybe it was a weird exchange rate thing, but it’s a German company and the Euro is valued way above the Canadian dollar. I don’t know why, but I’m not complaining!

Technically this is a father’s day promotion, so don’t be put off by all the dad-centric promotion around this deal. Also, click the “see what’s really going on” button at the top of the VIPRE deal page. Very weird.

VIPRE Antivirus: Buy VIPRE Internet Security, Get Carbonite Home For FREE – $59 Value!

Posted by on April 22, 2013 at 8:00 PM

VIPRE Antivirus: Buy VIPRE Internet Security, Get Carbonite Home For FREE $59 Value!

VIPRE and Carbonite are teaming up to bring you this awesome deal. When you buy VIPRE’s Internet security software, you get a free copy of the awesome Carbonite Home backup service.

If you’re gonna be online, you need to be protected. A lot of people think an Antivirus program is all you need. Some people think Antispyware will do it. And most people don’t even back up or if they do, they don’t do it properly. With this package, you get all your bases covered. The VIRPE Internet Security package includes your firewall, email protection, antivirus, antimalware and a bunch of other great features.

Carbonite is awesome too. You install a little program on your computer and it slowly does a backup of everything on your hard drive and puts it on their server. I know a lot of us in Canada have bandwidth caps, so Carbonite lets you set usage limits so that you don’t go over the cap. It also knows to do the backups when you aren’t using the computer. If it sees a bunch of traffic on the network, it’ll stop backing up. Once everything is backed up, it keeps it up to date. You can even access your Carbonite backups from a smartphone, so it turns into mobile cloud storage, too!

Both programs come with one year of their respective services. There are no shipping costs as these are digital downloads.

  • Expiry: Unknown

You need security if you’re gonna be online. That’s just the way it is. There are tons of viruses out there and a good AntiVirus/AntiMalware program will protect you from potentially harmful programs. STOPZilla has some pretty positive reviews. The only negative I’ve read is that the free trial isn’t fully featured and requires you to purchase the full version if you want to use it to its maximum potential. Doesn’t seem like a problem to me but some people online were complaining about it so I thought I’d mention it. Imagine that, people complaining about stupid stuff on the internet.

Anywho, the program is normally $49.95 but it’s on sale for $39.95. With the coupon code above, you save another $5 so you end up paying just $34.95. That’s $15 off! Not too shabby. This gets you protection for one computer for one year. As an alternative, you can protect three computers for one year ($64.95) or one computer for five years ($94.95).
