Amazon Canada: 73% Off Alien – Predator: Total Destruction DVD Collection – Now $21.50 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on August 3, 2014 at 8:30 PM

Amazon Canada: 73% Off Alien Predator: Total Destruction DVD Collection Now $21.50 (EXPIRED)

They mostly come out at night, mostly… good deals that is, not aliens! Amazon has discounted the Alien – Predator Total Destruction Collection down to just $21.49. It was originally priced at $79.98, so that puts it at a 73% discount!

Even though it was released in 2008, this collection is definitely a must-have for any of you sci-fi and action movie lovers, especially since it includes the following 8 discs:

  • Alien
  • Aliens (long version)
  • Alien 3
  • Alien Resurrection
  • Predator
  • Predator II
  • Alien vs. Predator (unrated)
  • Alien vs. Predator 2: Requiem (unrated)

It also features a number of happy reviews like this one:

This collection is a great deal and is completely worth it, all 8 discs are instant classics and any collector who loves older and newer movies will love it. It was very addictive and I couldn’t stop watching it. The discs were in great condition and the definition was great. This franchise was one of the greatest ever written and this collection really captured its amazing story-line. I 100% recommend this pack to any classic movie lover.

This is also a great deal for all of you French-speaking Canadian as the collection is bilingual. In fact, did you know that the movie Prometheus, which came out in 2012, is actually a prequel to the Alien franchise? I actually had no idea but discovered this little fact by looking up the movies. Prometheus is currently on sale as well. You can DVD and Blu-Ray versions for as low as $7. Plus, if you’re willing to shell out a little more, the Prometheus to Alien: The Evolution collection is on sale for $59.99 (reg. $215.69).

The only hitch is that you will be missing just a couple of dollars to have this collection shipped for free as Amazon only ships orders over $25 for free, so be sure to check out the deals section for more products to save on. In fact, there are a number of DVDs for $6.99 or less like Inception for just $3.94 (reg. $18.70). For those of you with kids, I suggest you sort those movies by cheapest first and then check out the first couple of pages as there are a number of kids’ movies for less than $5. For example, both Barbie: The Princess and the Pauper and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are $3.94 (reg. $9.99).

(PS4 & Xbox One) Pre-Order Batman: Arkham Knight For Just $57 + Free Shipping @ Amazon.ca

Posted by on August 1, 2014 at 9:00 PM

(PS4 & Xbox One) Pre Order Batman: Arkham Knight For Just $57 + Free Shipping @ Amazon.ca

The dawn is coming and luckily, you can save a couple of bucks before it does. Batman: Arkham Knight is coming out in 2015 and for a limited time, you can pre-order it for just $56.99 at Amazon for either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Its regular retail price is of $69.99, which put this deal at a 19% discount. Plus, since Amazon offers free shipping to most orders over $25, you are also sure to get your game shipped at no additional cost!

One of the trendiest quotes in the online community right now is: “Always be yourself! Unless you can be Batman, then always be Batman”. I couldn’t agree with it more, and what better way to be Batman than by playing this iconic character on either PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One?

Keep in mind that although Amazon is displaying an October 2014 release for this game, this is inaccurate. Rocksteady’s marketing game manager recently released a statement saying that the release date has been pushed back to 2015, though he hasn’t specified when exactly, due to the fact that they want to make sure that the game is absolutely perfect. In fact, his exact words were: “we just want to make this the best experience that we can, and that takes time”, as published on Gamespot. Definitely can’t argue with that, though I’m sure all of you Batman fans are eagerly awaiting its release!

Given that the last Batman to be released on PlayStation, Batman: Arkham City, was a major success, I have no doubts that the upcoming one will be just as awesome, especially since it will be tailored to the new video game consoles. I haven’t tried Xbox One yet but I have recently invested in a PlayStation 4 and I must say that it is all it’s cracked up to be. The graphics are absolutely phenomenal and I’m definitely looking forward to giving the new Batman a whirl, simply to see the level of details that will be injected into the game. In fact, here’s a review I found on Arkham City on Amazon:

This game is by far the best game I have ever played I definitely recommend this game if you are a batman fan!!!

Have you played any of the previous Batman games? What are your thoughts on them?

Amazon Canada: 47% Off Black & Decker 20V Drill – Just $52

Posted by on July 31, 2014 at 6:00 PM

Amazon Canada: 47% Off Black & Decker 20V Drill Just $52

Ready, set, drill away with Amazon’s awesome deal: get the Black & Decker SSL20SC 20V drill for just $52.56, which is 47% off its original price of $99.99. Plus, since Amazon typically ships orders over $25 for free, you will get this drill without any additional shipping charges.

When it comes to drills, Black & Decker are definitely one of the most popular ones out there because of their durability and power. This one features a lithium-ion battery, which means that you can charge it once and then leave it lying around anywhere else (or better yet, stowed away in the closet) until the next time you need it without worrying that the battery will lose its charge from not being used. In fact, according to Amazon’s description, the battery can hold a charge up to 18 months, which is pretty incredible!

It also has a slew of great reviews like this one:

Received this drill as scheduled. It has good balance, easy to control and very versatile. It has lots of power when needed and the preset torque settings are quite accurate (they are indicated by screw and bit size in pictures, rather than just numbered settings). 20 volts is a nice number for power and the lithium ion battery is small, light and installed easily.

At 20 volts, it’s also one of the highest voltages you can get on a drill. I had a look on Home Depot’s website and the only other cordless I found for close to the same price as Amazon’s deal is the Ryobi 18V, and although it comes with the drill kit, it has less voltage than the Black & Decker one. I have also been told that going with lesser known brands when it comes to cordless drills isn’t recommended at all. Although it depends on everyone’s preferences, Dewalt tends to be the most favoured because of its power but if you only plan on doing odd fixing jobs around the house here and there, then this Black & Decker drill is sure to fit the bill.

In fact, a friend of mine used his Black & Decker one on a regular basis and after more than ten years, it still continues to serve him well. The only other 20V I found at Home Depot is the Makita cordless compact drill, currently on sale for $169 (reg. $199).

This drill can go back to its original price at any time as no expiry has been given for it, so be sure to take advantage of it ASAP if you’re in need of a drill.

(PS4) Killzone: Shadow Fall Just $20 @ Amazon.ca (Hot!)

Posted by on July 28, 2014 at 7:45 PM

(PS4) Killzone: Shadow Fall Just $20 @ Amazon.ca (Hot!)

Hurry on over to Amazon because while supplies last (or whenever they decide to end the promotion), you can get Killzone: Shadowfall for just $19.94, which is 67% off the original price!

Considering that this is a PlayStation 4 game and one that was released relatively recently (November 15th 2014), this is an incredible deal. Price comparing this deal, the cheapest I have found it anywhere else is at Best Buy and Future Shop, where it’s on sale for $29.99.

Killzone: Shadow Fall is very similar to Call of Duty in that it is a first-person shooter game but it differs in the story line as it focuses on the missions of Lucas Kellan, a “Shadow Marshall” who finds himself in the middle of war. The game can also be played either as single-player or multi-player with others online.

Reviews for this game are also generally favourable, with GameSpot rating it 7 out of 10. In fact, here’s what GameSpot’s Kevin VanOrd had to say about it:

As much as I enjoyed my online time with Killzone: Shadow Fall–and as much as I will enjoy lots more time with it, unlocking perks that allow me to personalize my weapons–I missed Killzone 3′s jump pack, which brought a nifty nimbleness to the battlegrounds.

The only hitch is that you will need to shop for over $25 in order to have your order qualify for free shipping but that shouldn’t be too hard as you will need just $5 worth of merchandise. Amazon’s deals store is a great place to find good discounts. You could, for instance, get a number of DVDs for $6.99 or less, such as Rise of the Planet of the Apes for $6.99 (reg. $16.98), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 for $6.88 (reg. $24.95), Rio for $4.88 (reg. $21.98) and the list goes on and on.

If you have yet to upgrade to a PlayStation 4, then now may be a good time to do so, especially since Walmart’s PlayStation 4 deal that I wrote about a couple of days ago is still on. For a limited time, when you get the PlayStation 4 console at Walmart, you will also receive a $50 gift card for free. I just upgraded to the fourth generation console last week and I must admit that it was totally worth it. Yes it’s expensive, but the graphics are crisp and the level of details makes even paying as high as $70 for a game (usual price) totally worth it.

Amazon Canada Coupon: Get Free Phil & Ted’s Bassinet With Stroller Purchase

Amazon Canada Coupon: Get Free Phil & Teds Bassinet With Stroller Purchase

If you have a little one or maybe a bundle of joy on the way, you will want to check out this new coupon code from Amazon Canada. Purchase a Phil & Ted’s mountain edition stroller, and you will get a Phil & Ted’s bassinet for free!

Click here to get this deal @ Amazon.ca now

  • Coupon Code: PATBUGGYC
  • Discount: Free Bassinet
  • Expiry: Unknown

Phil & Ted’s are one of the best brand names out there when it comes to strollers and accessories.  I was dying to have one when I was pregnant after I had done some research, but it just wasn’t in the cards for us at the time. They are durable, lightweight, very well made and easy to use.

Not only will you save with the coupon code, the stroller is actually already on sale right now.  The regular price is $549.99 and it is on sale for $531.94.  To take advantage of this deal, you will need to add both the stroller and the buggy (from the link above) to your cart first.  Then enter the coupon code and the price for the buggy bassinet will end up being free.  Without this coupon, you would be spending the regular price of $186.99 to purchase the buggy bassinet.

I love the look of the buggy bassinet on a stroller for when your baby is just little.  It turns your stroller into a beautiful pram easily, which is also very trendy and stylish right now. Another bonus to it is that with a bassinet, you can get out and about without disturbing your baby’s sleep. For anyone that has kids, you know what a huge deal this can be!

I wanted to make sure this was a great deal so I did some price comparisons.  This stroller was at Toys R Us for $499.99 but you would need to pay $33 for the cost of shipping and you would not be getting the buggy bassinet with it. At the actual Phil & Ted’s store, it was also $499.99 but again, the shipping was extra at a price of $20 and you would not be getting the buggy bassinet.  In all, the deal at Amazon which includes the free shipping and the Bassinet worth $186.99 was the best deal by far.

As a nice little bonus, both of these items will get free shipping as well. Most stores would be charging you an arm and a leg for the cost of shipping because of the size of these two products.

This Amazon Canada coupon, along with a few others can be found posted on the Bargainmoose coupon forum.

Amazon Canada: 67% Off Petmate Pet Carrier – Now $27.69

Posted by on July 23, 2014 at 11:00 PM

Amazon Canada: 67% Off Petmate Pet Carrier Now $27.69

Amazon Canada is selling the Petmate Curvations Top Load 19 inch pet carrier for $27.69, originally $82.49.

The pet carrier has both a top zippered mesh door and a metal front door, which allows easy entry or exit for your pets from whichever angle. While small dogs might prefer the front door, I know many cats (like mine) are not keen on going through that door into a dark cave. Some cats would prefer to just be placed in the carrier through the top. This gives you the option of either. It also makes your pet easily accessible at all times. The design has lots of small side holes for ventilation and viewing. In addition, the top mesh provides extra ventilation for your pet. The carrier features a solid plastic base for strength and stability with a steel front door and secure latch. The top half is softer, almost fabric-like according to one reviewer, but still holds its shape well. To this top is secured the zippered top opening and an adjustable padded shoulder strap for transporting.

For anyone who cares about esthetics, this carrier is also rather nice looking. The fabric-like material has a very pretty black and white pattern on it that certainly looks better than any carrier I have ever owned. The carrier assembles via nuts and bolts, so I suggest having a couple tools handy to make assembly easier (tools not necessary but helpful). Just be careful not to over-tighten the bolts or you risk cracking the plastic.

Most reviewers are super happy with their purchase. One reviewer said:

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this carrier! It met all my needs, was not too expensive, and it’s cute! Can’t ask for more!

While some reviewers have found it difficult to assemble, another reviewer commented that:

I just purchased this carrier from petco for $31.00. It was easy to assemble. However the wingnuts did give my fingers a workout but wasn’t a problem for me, just adding it as a side note.

Since you will only have to assemble the pet carrier once, the finger workout should not be a deterrent. The carrier is very attractive, appears to be well built, and has that extra convenient feature of a second door. As the carrier costs over $25, it will ship for free to your house from Amazon Canada.

Amazon.ca: $76 Tassimo Coffee Maker T47 (was $150) + Free Shipping

Posted by on July 21, 2014 at 12:30 PM

Amazon.ca: $76 Tassimo Coffee Maker T47 (was $150) + Free Shipping

As I sipped my lovely home-brewed, single serve coffee this morning, I found this great deal on the Tassimo T47 Coffee Maker:  50% off at $75.43 at Amazon.ca (reg.  $149.99)!

I love my Tassimo.  I am fully incapable of brewing traditional coffee.  Honestly, I don’t know what my issue is, but when I try to brew coffee, I either end up with it way too strong, way too weak, or with coffee grounds in my cup and all over my counter.  I absolutely love the convenience of just popping the little T-Disc into the machine, placing my cup, and pushing the button.  Not to mention that most weekdays the adults in my house are each only drinking one cup before we head out for the day, so I feel like it’s more logical to use two pods, allowing us each to choose our own flavour and having a hot cup of coffee at different times versus brewing a pot that I’m probably going to mess up anyways.

I really appreciate that the Tassimo T47 offers automatic cleaning and descaling, and that it brews coffee in approximately one minute.  Mornings are when I’m at my least patient, especially when it comes to getting my caffeine fix, so speed is of the essence.  Tassimo does all the thinking for you in those groggy morning hours by reading the barcode on the T-Disc, brewing the perfect cup every time.  I especially love trying lots of different coffee flavours, which the Tassimo allows me to do easily.

Price Comparison

I checked out a whole bunch of competitors on this one.  Amazon’s offer is a real steal.  Check them out for yourself if you’d like.

Amazon.ca has sales on other Tassimo models if the T47 isn’t right for you.  You can check out the Tassimo T20 for $69.99 (reg. $169.99) or the Tassimo T55 for $109.99 (reg. $229.99).  I also really enjoy that you can purchase a Tassimo Espresso, Coffee, Cappuccino, and Tea Variety Pack ($43.99) with 48 T-Discs to let you sample a bunch of flavours without having to buy a whole package of any one flavour.

Shipping

Your order will ship free from Amazon.ca.

Amazon.ca: $145 Seagate Expansion 4TB Desktop External Hard Drive + Free Shipping

Posted by on July 17, 2014 at 11:30 AM

Amazon.ca: $145 Seagate Expansion 4TB Desktop External Hard Drive + Free Shipping

I am always filling up my hard drive with photos and downloads.  Not any more with this deal from Amazon.ca:  Seagate Expansion 4TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 on sale for only $145.98 (Reg. $397.99)!

Let’s talk about user friendliness.  This external hard drive is automatically recognized by Windows, so there is no software installation required.   It is as easy as opening the box, plugging in two cords, and you’re running.  I am fully computer literate, but I do sometimes have a hard time installing hardware.  The ease of installing this device really appeals to me.  It’s really just plug and play.

As Amazon.ca’s #1 best seller in external hard drives, Seagate’s model offers a 4TB capacity.  Again, hardware isn’t my thing, so I didn’t really have a great concept of what that meant in layman’s terms.  Here is an example of the type of storage capacity we’re talking about:

  • Up to 3000 hours of digital video
  • Up to 750 2 hour DVD movies
  • Up to 960 000 digital photos
  • Up to 49 980 hours of digital music

I think it’s possible that even I would have a hard time filling up that bad boy.  Compatible operating systems are Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit).

Now I live out in the middle of nowhere.  I had no choice but to get wireless internet, and the reception within my house is spotty at best.  I’m often isolated in the office with my laptop, but often my family wants to watch a downloaded movie in the living room or bedroom, which involves a lot of work getting said movie from my computer to another device.  With an external hard drive, I would literally be able to unplug the 2 cords from one computer and pop them into another for a smooth transfer.  Easy peasy.  The unit is also compact in size, making for easy storage.

As far as comparison is concerned, I found the same external hard drive over tigerdirect.ca for $164.97.  Both Best Buy and Future Shop are selling the unit for $169.99.  On top of the low price, since this item is over $25, you automatically qualify for free super saver shipping at Amazon.ca.

We don’t know when this deal ends, so act fast!

Amazon Student: 6-Months of Free 2-Day Shipping

Posted by on July 15, 2014 at 8:00 PM

Amazon Student: 6 Months of Free 2 Day Shipping

Amazon finally has brought the Amazon Student program to Canada. Students can sign up with a valid student email address to get FREE Two-Day Shipping with Amazon Prime on eligible purchases (with no minimum required) for six months and e-mail alerts for discounts and promotions.

After the six months of free two-day shipping from Amazon Canada, your Student Prime account will automatically renew unless you choose to unsubscribe. However, instead of paying the full price of $79 per year, students will only pay $39 per year for Amazon Prime. However, once you graduate (or at the end of four years), your subscription will automatically renew to the full prime cost of $79 unless you choose to unsubscribe. To sign up for your free six-months of Amazon Student Prime, you will need to:

  • have an Amazon Canada account
  • be a college, university or CEGEP student enrolled in at least one course
  • be able to provide proof of enrollment if requested
  • have a valid college, university, or CEGEP email address (and access to that account)

I am officially still a student, as I do not graduate until November, so I signed up for this offer with my student email address. It was very simple. I just needed to have access to my email address to confirm my subscription. I actually have my student email forwarded to my regular email address and I was able to confirm my account by clicking through the link in the forwarded email.

This offer is available across the country, but it is done slightly different for residents of Quebec. If you are schooling in Quebec, you can sign up for Amazon Student and you will receive an 18-month membership with the first 6 months at no charge. They will not bill your credit card until the first six months are over, and you can cancel at any time.

For students, this is thrilling. I have purchased many of my textbooks on Amazon.ca in the past when two-day shipping would have been super handy. I also love books, my husband loves movies, and together we place a purchase or two at Amazon.ca about once or twice a month. Two-day shipping is certainly going to lessen the time we have to wait between ordering and receiving. I just need to mark down in my calendar what date I should be cancelling my subscription so it does not auto-renew.

Amazon Canada: Documentaries Over 50% Off

Posted by on July 14, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Amazon Canada: Documentaries Over 50% Off

If you need something interesting, education and entertaining to watch this summer, why not pop in a documentary? Amazon has their documentaries on sale for over 50% off, so now is the time to get the one you’ve been wanting to watch.

I love watching documentaries because it is like I am being productive while watching television. I can also watch them with my kids, which for certain ones, they’ll like to, so it is something for the whole family.

The best deal of the bunch is on the documentary “Life”, which is basically how we (as living beings) procreate, fend off enemies, nourish ourselves, are born and die. I would find this very interesting and I know my older sons would too. The reviews are fantastic and I can’t imagine how beautiful the images will be. This one sells for a regular price of $87.48, but is on sale for $31.99. I found it at Best Buy for $69.99, which means the Amazon version is almost $40 cheaper!

Although we’ve blogged Planet Earth before, it is totally worth mentioning again, as this is a really hot price. It has a regular price of $99.90, but is on sale for $34.99 with blu-ray discs. Best Buy has this same set on for $79.99.

Not all of the documentaries are on wildlife, as there is also a couple of musical ones, including this One Direction: This is Us documentary. I personally wouldn’t watch this, but if I had a One Direction fan in the house, you know that $10 would be well-spent (regular price $35.99).

Amazon offers free shipping on orders over $25, so if your disc is such a good price like the One Direction one, you might have to get one for a friend, or get another so you don’t have to worry about shipping costs adding to your bill.

At the moment, Walmart.ca has a price on this game of $39.96, while EB Games is retailing it for $39.99.  Amazon.ca’s price saves you over $10 on this very well-reviewed Nintendo 3DS game!  The average player score on Gamespot.com is 8 out of 10 (great) with 79 ratings.  And Metacritic has given Mario & Luigi: Dream Team a Metascore of 81, garnering generally favourable reviews from 75 critics.

This game takes place both in Nintendo’s “real world” and in the mind of Luigi while he sleeps.  Much like the way I appear in my own dreams, Luigi’s persona while he slumbers is that of a brave and powerful hero!  Get the chance to control Mario and a whole army of Luigis during battles in Luigi’s dreams.  This game boasts great 3D graphics and the ability to save games along the way.  Players are given the option to try battles on an easier level if they don’t succeed and can receive hints for battling certain foes if desired.

We don’t know when this limited time offer will expire, so grab this great deal while you can!

Amazon Canada: 80% Off Intuit Quickbooks Online EasyStart – Now $9.99

Posted by on July 7, 2014 at 12:30 PM

Amazon Canada: 80% Off Intuit Quickbooks Online EasyStart Now $9.99

Amazon Canada is offering 80% off the original price of $89.99 for the Intuit Quickbooks Online EasyStart Accounting Software for small businesses. This twelve-month prepaid software package is on sale for just $9.99.

The CD will be shipped out to you; however, this is a web-based accounting program. Thus, an internet connection is required and they recommend high speed. The software is both Mac and PC compatible. The Intuit software comes with one user license plus access for two accountants. You can create and send professional invoices as well as track income, expenses, and profit. You can also monitor your real-time cash flow. The software gives you a 12-month subscription, which works out to less than a dollar a month for accounting software.

Most all the reviewers on Amazon are quite pleased with their purchase. This reviewer from June said:

Invoicing and keeping track of my invoices has never been easier! Quickbooks Online has allowed me to focus on my clients instead of bookkeeping. That being said, I always know where my finances are at with very little effort!

Another reviewer from back in January said they also loved the software with the only downside being it is web based.

This software package is on sale at Staples right now for $29, but Amazon.ca still beats that price by a mile.

I worked as a bookkeeper for a couple months and then swore never to do that again. I don’t think it was the actual accounting that bothered me, rather the lack of cooperation from my boss. I need receipts. I cannot balance books without receipts. My mother has done the books for my parents’ small business since I can almost remember, and around tax time you avoided disturbing the peace – or rather the thick air of stress that hung over the house. My mother always took the final books to an accountant. That is why I never learned to do my own taxes as when I became old enough to gain employment; my taxes also went to the accountant. Even if you take your taxes to an accountant, I highly recommend teaching your children how to do their own taxes.

This sweet little deal probably will not last for long. Amazon Canada offers free shipping on orders of $25 or more so check your wish list to see if anything else you want is also on sale.

Amazon Canada: Up To 78% Off Z By Malouf Memory Foam Pillows & More

Posted by on July 6, 2014 at 6:30 PM

Amazon Canada: Up To 78% Off Z By Malouf Memory Foam Pillows & More

Amazon Canada has a huge sale on Z by Malouf Memory Foam Pillows with up to 78% off king, queen, standard, and travel pillows.

These deals are so good I might just replace all the pillows on our bed. This Z by Malouf Aeration Pillow with Removable Bamboo Velour Cover and three year warranty was originally $129.99 and is now on sale for $29.99. The pillow is filled with air cushioning polyethylene tubes for proper posture, airflow, and comfort while providing a hypoallergenic solution to the buckwheat pillow.

The Z by Malouf Z-Gel Infused Dough Memory Foam Pillow with Removable Velour Cover and five year warranty was $119.99 for the standard size, which is now on sale for $29.99. That is equal to 75% off, with the queen pillow at 73% off and the king size pillow at 70% off. It is naturally hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant while being cool and comfortable for sweet dreams. The Z by Malouf Z-Gel Infused Dough Memory Foam Contour Pillow looks to be the exact same material, just in a contoured shape, and it is 77% off in the standard size. originally $79.99, it is now $19.99. The queen and king sizes are also on sale for good prices.

My favourite of the pillows for sale is this Z by Malouf Dough Memory Foam + Liquid Z-Gel Pillow with Removable Velour Cover and five year warranty. I absolutely hate warm pillows, so I am constantly flipping my pillow each time I wake up. The Liquid Z-Gel captures and distributes heat to keep your head cool. The standard sized pillow is on sale from $129.99 down to $29.99. While the standard is 77% off, the queen size is 75% off and the king size is 70% off.

The travel pillows are a great deal too. There is nothing like going away on a nice vacation only to find a lumpy pillow. This Z by Malouf Travel Zoned Dough Memory Foam Pillow was $79.99 and is now $16.99. It is a great little pillow to use for flights or to sleep on the ferry. I notice many people do not even bother getting out of their vehicles on the ferry; rather they just flop over in their vehicles and catch forty winks between the mainland and Vancouver Island.

There are so many more pillow deals than just these. Check them all out at the main Amazon.ca link above.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Amazon Canada: Lucid Linen Spa Memory Foam Mattress Only $199

If you are in the market for a new mattress, Amazon has quite a good deal. Get the Lucid Linen Spa memory foam mattress for as low as only $199.99 with a regular price of $699.99, depending on the size you get. Another awesome perk is that these mattresses will all ship for free, which is a sweet deal when it comes to a large item like a mattress.

The prices for these mattress are as follows:

  • $199.99 (reg. $699.99) for the twin XL
  • $229.99 (reg. $749.99) for the full
  • $269.99 (reg. $849.99) for the queen
  • $379.99 (reg. $999.99) for the California King
  • $399.99 for the King (reg. $949.99)

The mattress you sleep on is probably one of the most important parts of your day. If you have a crappy mattress and get a disturbed sleep or wake up keeling over in pain, the rest of your day will also be affected. Bad mattresses ruin lives. When my husband and I were first married, our in-laws gave us their old King mattress. It was great to have a King mattress because I’m a light sleeper and can’t have anyone touching me while I’m sleeping. However, because the mattress was over ten years old, it definitely had tell-tale signs of wear. My father-in-law is a big guy and I’m sure he put a solid dent in one side. I would wake up bent over in back pain and it wasn’t until I was pregnant for the third time when I said forget this and we splurged on a new mattress. Too bad they didn’t have a deal as good as this at the time. For a King, we could have spent only $400 and solved all my problems in the beginning.

I’ll let you read the description, but tell you that it is a 10″ thick mattress with 2.5″ of memory foam and 7.5″ of polyurethane foam. It is soft, conforming to weight put on it and has open cell technology so you stay cool when you sleep. I worry about foam mattresses and their effect on my health and the environment, but this one looks good in terms of this.

The reviews are wonderful, and you should take a read at the pros, cons and tips they give. As for price comparing, I couldn’t find this mattress anywhere else except Amazon.com, but as mattresses with good reviews go, this is a solid price.

Amazon.ca: Hoover SteamVac Power Max with Clean Surge (Now $149.99, Was $299.00)

If you are looking to invest in a deep carpet cleaner, you may want to check out this Hoover SteamVac Power Max with Clean Surge from Amazon.ca for only $149.99 (regularly $299.00).

Whether you are the original owner of your home or you have inherited the previous owner’s carpet choice, I think we can all agree that there comes a time when the vacuum is just not cutting it anymore.

We have lived in our home for almost 12 years. We are the original owners. So we can only really blame ourselves for the state of our carpet (and our three boys, it’s really all their fault!). But most times, like pretty much everybody else, I don’t really notice how tired our carpet is looking, or I choose to ignore it, one or the other.  Either way, when I do decide to take my blinders off I can no longer bring myself to turn away. So a few years ago, against my husbands will, I hired a company to come in and clean our floors. My husband begrudgingly moved the majority of the furniture and when it was all said and done moved it all back. It took him a couple of days to truly appreciate it but in the end he admitted that it gave the carpets a much needed facelift.

Fast forward four years and I’ve been dropping hints that perhaps it’s time. However, in the meantime we did invest in a  small steam spot remover that has definitely been beneficial and has served us well. So I’m thinking that investing in a larger steam vac that we could use ourselves would be much more cost effective, plus we could truly incorporate this into our yearly cleaning schedule. Plus, at this price we would be even just after one clean!

This unit has received good reviews for the most part:

I didn’t realize how dirty my carpets were until I used this.
It comes in parts but is easy to put together and use and it doesn’t leave you with a soaked carpet afterwards.

with the only truly disconcerting piece to note, which seems to be prevalent across several different forums is in regards to ensuring the pieces are connected properly to avoid leaking. However I’m sure this is covered in the instructions:

The connections must be connected EXACTLY as directed or leaks will happen. If leaks are happening, reconnect them again. Mine leaked after the second time I used it but it was all user error. It works wonderfully and cleans upholstery and floors with minimal effort!

This item does qualify for FREE Super Saver Shipping!
