The Source Canada: Acer X223W 22″ Monitor Was $135 | Now $80 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

The Source Canada: Acer X223W 22 Monitor Was $135 | Now $80 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Monitors on a tight budget are not too common on Bargainmoose, but I just found a great little deal. The Source Canada has discounted the Acer 22″ X223W LCD monitor from $134.98 (regular price) down to $79.96. This is an open box model and comes with full warranty.

I think a clarification of terms is in order first. There is a big difference between display model, open box, and refurbished. Refurbished means the product had an issue and had to be sent back to the manufacturer to be fixed. Display models were used in store as display models. Open box items are generally when a box has been opened to show the product to a customer and when a box gets damaged in transit. The product inside is still brand new and comes with the full three year warranty (or one year warranty – The Source has two different warranty lengths written in different places). The warranty protects you from anything going wrong.

Here is a basic rundown of the monitor’s features. The 22″ TFT LCD screen provides crispt clear images. That screen has a 1680 x 1050 resolution and a 50000:1 contrast resolution. There is a 5 ms response time that will accommodate most movies you throw at it. There are both VGA and DVI (HDCP) Ports on the monitor as well. One reviewer said:

I got this item on sale, great for the price! screen is clear!

I could not exactly price compare this unit as I could not find it elsewhere in Canada. However, I looked at the cheapest 20 – 22″ monitors on Best Buy Canada to get an idea. The only two deals that came close to this were:

  • HP 20″ IPS LED Backlit Monitor (20BW) – $99.99
  • Dell 20″ Widescreen LED Monitor (P2011H) – Refurbished – $99.99

Both the monitors are 2″ smaller than the Acer and both cost an extra $20 premium. In addition, the Dell is a refurbished unit so it is not even new. On Walmart Canada, the cheapest monitor is an Acer K202HQL b 19.5″ LED for $98. Given that the Acer from The Source costs less and is a bigger monitor, I think this deal is hot.

As the Acer monitor retails for over $25, you will receive free shipping to your home. I assume this monitor will set out quickly as The Source often has very low stock on their clearance items.

November 25 Black Friday DOTD: Half Price Acer Iconia Tablet $99.99 & Free Shipping & Other Lightning Deals

Posted by on November 25, 2014 at 6:30 AM Black Friday DOTD: Half Price Acer Iconia Tablet $99.99 & Free Shipping & Other Lightning Deals

In the ongoing event that is Black Friday deals week @, they’ve had some really excellent one day deals and today is no exception. Right now, you can pick up a half price Acer Iconia 7.9” tablet for half price – it’s down from $199.99 to only $99.99 with free shipping from Amazon!

The full title of this item is the: Acer Iconia 7.9-Inch Tablet (A1-830-1838) with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Intel AtomTM processor Z2560, 1 GB, 16 GB Storage, 7.9-Inch display with IPS. It looks like a decent enough device, good for some basic home tasks.

Price Comparison Elsewhere

This is by far the best online price in Canada for this model of Acer Iconia tablet. Elsewhere, I’ve spotted the Acer A1-830-1838 for $140 @ FactoryDirect, $180 @ The Source, $160 @ TigerDirect, $213 @ CDW, $177 @ OfficeMax and $178 @ Walmart. Walmart and Amazon are in price wars at the moment, so it’s great to see such a price difference there, and a super price from Amazon.

While this particular tablet is probably not quite going to be up to the same quality of an iPad Air, you have different expectation when you are paying only $100 for a tablet. For this kind of thing, I think it would be great for young teenagers as a Christmas gift, great for playing little games and watching movies, etc. When my nephews were 9 and 11, they each got a tablet from Santa for Christmas, something similar to the Acer above. They’re definitely not as easy to use as an iPad, but they were a great little gift.

Some Other Lightning Deals Today Only

Remember, everything over $25 gets free shipping!

Posted by on August 18, 2012 at 3:00 AM Acer Laptop (Save $100), SDHC Memory Card (Save $35), Epson Printer (Save $60)

This is Staples Canada’s Saturday door crasher and is is pretty awesome. Why, you may ask, has you been given this sweet, sweet deal for free? Well, it’s because we here at Bargainmoose love you.

The three products are:

There are a couple of things you need to know about this sale. First off this is only valid on 18 August 2012 starting right now (3:00AM ET) and will run for 24 hours.

Second thing you need to know is that I think this is a traditional “door crasher” sale. That means there are limited quantity. If you are looking at this article and want the products above, get them now. Don’t come back later because the item could very well be sold out.

I’m going to be working on a TOP SECRET PROJECT for you beautiful moosers and for it I’ll need a computer. You may remember me mentioning that I’ve gotten rid of my computer and only have a tablet. The tablet is great and, so far, it has worked for almost everything I have needed to do but when it comes to TOP SECRET PROJECTS, I’m gonna need a real PC. That being said, this computer isn’t blazingly fast or super high performance but it’ll do for my TOP SECRET PROJECT.

Acer Aspire Ultrabooks up to 26% off @

Posted by on August 6, 2012 at 6:09 AM

Acer Aspire Ultrabooks up to 26% off @

Aspire to buy an ultrabook. Aspire to save money.

These are three ultrabooks on sale:

As usual with Amazon, anything over $25 ships free.

I’m really interested in the ultrabook movement. Unlike the netbook craze of 2009, I feel like this one actually has some legs. Mainly in that it’s a full blown laptop that’s been stripped to make it slimmer. Unless you’re doing some heavy lifting like video editing or photo editing or some heavy gaming you probably don’t need anything beefier than one of these.

Acer is now a top brand (Usually #2 or #3, depending on which research company you listen to) in the PC world. They used to be a third tier manufacturer, way back in the day, but have proven themselves worthy.

Acer Iconia A100, 7″, 8GB for $229.99 (Save $50) at The Source

Acer Iconia A100, 7, 8GB for $229.99 (Save $50) at The Source

What’s the hottest new form factor in the Tablet world? 10.1″? 9.7″? No, it’s the 7″. Acer was ahead of the game, now you can be ahead of your wallet!

This is an older tablet but unless you are a power user, this is fine. It has Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) and Acer plans to upgrade it to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). As far as specs, it has a Dual Core 1GHz Cortrex A9 processor, Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset, 1GB of RAM, a 5MP 720p read  camera and a 2MP front facing camera. For all the specs, check out GSM area.

So I have heard a lot of people talking about how the 7 inch form factor isn’t for them. Well, that may be true for some people but I really think it is a fantastic size. Truthfully it all comes down to portability. My 10.1″ tablet is way too big to stick in my back pocket or in my jacket. I have a case for it but I have to carry that around with me like a purse.

Speaking of purses, my wife has a 10.1″ tablet that she puts in her purse but it pretty much takes up the whole purse. Do you travel much? What about a 10″ tablet VS. a 7″ on the plane, bus, train, the passenger seat or back seat of a car or cab? Even the weight is a factor when you’re talking about holding it for extended periods of time. For example, reading a book in bed would be a lot easier on a 7″.

These are just a few reasons. I’m sure you can find your own, not to mention the great price.

Sweet 20” Acer Monitor For $142.49 @ Canada

Posted by on April 12, 2009 at 1:06 PM

Do you need a little extra screen real estate? Would you like to see more when sniping on eBay for those last minute bargains? Would you like to have to scroll down less when reviewing your friends’ statuses on Facebook? If you’re still using that old 14” CRT screen, I’m LOLing at you! Get an LCD monitor! It’s about time! have a pretty good deal on this 20” Acer Widescreen monitor.

When you click through to the site and search for “X203H” you will see that it is priced at $149.99. But everything added to your cart will be reduced by 5% – making this monitor only $142.49. Here’s a sweetener too – free shipping! Can’t say fairer than that!

Here’s a little bit of the specification to whet your appetite:Sweet 20” Acer Monitor For $142.49 @ Canada

  • Screen size: 20″
  • Max Resolution: 1600 x 900
  • Brightness: 300 cd/m²
  • Maximum Response Time: 5ms
  • Ports: VGA & DVI
  • Warranty: 3 year

In my humble opinion, that’s a pretty good spec. It would be a good all-round monitor, for basic office work, home entertainment, even gaming. I like how it has a 3 year warranty, that’s a bit better than your standard 1 year. I’ve never owned an Acer screen, but I’ve heard pretty good things about the brand. If you’re just using a 14” or 15” screen right now, the jump up to a 20” is quite substantial – makes things a lot easier to do when you’re working on the computer.

If you’d like to check out some customer ratings and comments, most users gave this monitor an excellent rating over on

Acer X223Wbd 22″ Widescreen LCD Monitor for only $199.99 @ The Source

Posted by on September 23, 2008 at 5:11 PM

Acer X223Wbd 22 Widescreen LCD Monitor for only $199.99 @ The Source

This seems like a good deal on an Acer LCD monitor from The Source by Circuit City. (Item no 2511775) They’re asking for $199.99 for this LCD flat panel monitor, which is a saving of $40 on the regular price. You can get it shipped to your store for free, plus you can also get 2.6% cashback from Dealguild if you wish…..

TigerDirect Canada is also doing this computer screen for $199.99, but you’d pay a bit extra with those guys for shipping.

If you’d like to read a review on this particular 22 inch LCD monitor, there’s a bit of a write-up on CNET. I’ve heard that Acer computer monitors are pretty good quality in the grand scheme of things. It has got a 3 year warranty anyway, so no trouble there.

If you’re still using an old CRT computer monitor, I’d definitely think about changing over to a brand new LCD flat panel monitor. Not only do they look more stylish, they’re supposed to save power too, lowering your electricity costs. Or this may also be a “load of crap”, you decide!

P.S. Sale ends September 24, 2008 – grab it fast!

Hot deal on a 22” Acer computer monitor! As it is Labor Day, Future Shop Canada is giving an extra 15% discount on the Acer P221WD when you put it into your cart. When you click through, you’ll see the Acer screen priced at $219.99, but it drops to $186.99 when you go to buy it. In my opinion, that’s a great price for a sizable piece of screen real estate!

22” Acer LCD Monitor for only $186.99 online @ FutureShop!

Here’s a brief specification on this flat screen LCD monitor:

  • Monitor Type: TFT LCD
  • Brightness: 300cd/m2
  • Contrast Ratio: 2500:1
  • Response Time: 5ms
  • Warranty: 3 Years Parts & Labour

Looking at the above, that’s a good response rate, so this Acer screen is perfect for anything you want to do on your PC, whether that’s watching movies, gaming, or just working. A 3 year warranty is a bonus too!

I changed over to a flat screen monitor a few years ago, and they really are great compared to the old CRT ones!! I upgraded from a 17” to a 22” and the size difference was amazing!!
