RECALL! Lorex Care 'N' Share Monitors, Do You Own One Of These?

We've all heard about cell phone batteries potentially overheating, creating a burning risk, but it looks like we need to be thinking about safety for babies as well, with their baby monitors.

26,000 Lorex Care 'N' Share monitors have been recalled and of these, 8,000 were sold in Canada. They contain a blue lithium polymer battery that can overheat and swell, creating a potential burning hazard. 488 cases of batteries overheating and expansion have been reported, and around 140 of those involved the battery's plastic casing coming off.

No injuries have been reported in the USA, and Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these baby monitors in Canada.

The monitors were sold at Babies "R" Us, B&H, Best Buy, Target, The Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Amazon.com and LorexTechnology.com, from May 2013 through April 2016. The baby monitors affected by this recall may have been sold alone or in bundles with cameras or other components.

  • The model numbers in the recall included WL3520, WL4320 and WL3401.
