5 Ideas To Celebrate Easter Frugally

5 Ideas To Celebrate Easter Frugally

Easter is a great time to celebrate spring. After a long winter it is easy to get caught up in the festivities and spend more than you intended. I try to spend time with people I care about on Easter rather than spending lots of money on fuzzy bunnies and plastic chicks. We do celebrate the arrival of the Easter Bunny in our house, and with a little frugal planning we can have a frugal Easter morning full of plenty of fun and love.

Consider Treats Without Sugar

Do you end up buying a whole slew of toys and outside items for springtime? Easter is the perfect time to gift some of the small items that can be used all spring and summer. Instead of filling your basket with lots of candy, consider purchasing some of those items you might have bought eventually anyways for summer time play. Here is a list of items for $5 or less that you can put in an Easter basket.

  • Seeds to plant and kids garden tools
  • Sand toys
  • Chalk
  • Bubble bath
  • Matchbox cars
  • Frisbee
  • Jump rope
  • Bubbles
  • Mini playdough or make your own
  • Markers or crayons

Do you need more ideas for family fun? Check out these past posts for 5 Frugal Easter Kids Crafts or Frugal Ways to Get Your Kids Excited for Easter.

Make Homemade Treats

5 Ideas To Celebrate Easter Frugally

Every time I go to the store to buy candy for a holiday, I am reminded just how incredibly expensive themed chocolate can be. According to Canadian Connection over two billion dollars globally is spent on Easter candy each year with 70% of it being chocolate. That is a lot of cash being spent on sweets and treats. Easter themed treats are generally anywhere from $3 to $15 depending on the quality of candy.

One idea is to make some of your treats. A quick scan of the web and I found this easy looking recipe for homemade Cadbury Crème Eggs from Miss Candiquik.  If you love jellybeans, these homemade gumdrops from The Stay At Home Chef look quick, festive and yummy. She suggests using a candy mold but you could also grease a bread loaf pan, and slice your candy into cubes or cut with a mini cookie cutter.  These chocolate covered peep pops from Gimme Some Oven look fun and delicious. They would look so cute in cellophane bags in your Easter basket, or would make great gifts for teachers and school friends.

Save On Your Basket

Most inexpensive baskets will run from $5-$15 if empty. If pre-filled with Easter treats, baskets generally start at $30 and only go up in price. If you purchase a basket every year, that money can add up. A friend of mine has a lovely brown wicker basket she used as a child and now has passed the tradition on to her children. If you have a wicker basket at home, consider using it year after year and decorating it with some ribbon and tissue paper.

You could also make a DIY basket. East Coast Mommy created an adorable basket out of an empty tissue box. DIY & Crafts has a great roundup of 25 Easter baskets you can make.

A trick for young children is to put everything in a sand bucket. The bucket is then can be used at the beach or park and most likely you were going to purchase it for your child anyways for summer. Sand toys tend to break throughout the summer, so a fresh bucket is a great start for spring. We used our sand toys all winter in the snow also.

Pick Frugal Flowers

5 Ideas To Celebrate Easter Frugally

Spring flowers are beautiful, but stems such as daffodils and tulips often do not last long when you buy them for your table. When it comes to choosing blooms, there are a couple places you could buy. If you go into a florist, expect to walk out paying $30-$60 for a basic bouquet. These bouquets will be carefully prepared for maximum freshness, and I personally find bouquets from the florist always last longer. If you can pick up a budget version, chances are your bouquet will last a little longer than the grocery option.

Bouquets in the grocery store start a little cheaper at around $20, but I generally expect the blooms not to last as long. When picking your blooms, choose carefully and pick blooms that are closed. They may look ugly in the moment, but those ugly flowers will bloom shortly and you will be able to enjoy the blooms much longer.

Gerber daisies are an inexpensive spring bloom to choose. Pair with some filler greenery or put a few stems in a mason jar for a chic and simple spring look. A potted plant is another way to be a little more frugal and have your blooms last longer. Once the ground thaws, you can take your flowers from table to your garden. Take a look at The Garden Helper for more specifics on different types of common potted Easter flowers.

Host Easter Brunch Instead Of Easter Dinner

A quick survey though Open Table in Toronto tells me that the price for Easter brunch or dinner out starts at $30 and ranges up to $70 per person. Multiple that by ten people and you spend $300 to $700 before taxes, tip, wine or any other extras.

Hosting a full traditional Easter dinner can be time consuming and heavy on your wallet also. Make your event a little more casual, skip the ham and host Easter brunch. If you need some recipe ideas, check out this delicious looking recipe round up from Two Peas and Their Pod.  If you have guests, suggest a potluck so you spread the cooking around. 10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

As the late Robin Williams once said: Spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party! Goodbye snowmen and fuzzy hats, we will see you next year. Welcome back to the colourful flowers, fuzzy bunnies, birds and spring babies. My home could also use a few simple refreshes for spring. With just a few minutes, a printer,  and some paper or cardstock you can create these amazing projects that will help you welcome spring with open arms. The best part is these projects will cost you very little for a lot of spring cheer. Most of these projects are single sheet images that you could frame in a photo frame, use as the front of a greeting card or make into a quick gift tag. Printables are perfect for both home decoration or parties!

Easter Egg Hunt Party Pack

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

This party pack from Yellow Bliss Road would be adorable to use for an Easter Egg hunt with family and friends. Print off this party pack that includes a banner, sign and decorative food tags. Cut, glue, and tah dah. Cute decorations faster than you could make it to the dollar store and back.

Bicycle Adventure

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

Over at The 36th Avenue they created a sweet bicycle print that says Love The Journey. This would be nice in a little kid’s room or playroom. I love the pops of colour on this image, especially on the black chalkboard version

Nest

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

This printable from Darling Doodles would be so sweet to include framed with a wedding gift, or would look equally cute hanging in your front hallway. This cozy nest will make your house feel warm and light.

With My Peeps

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

Spunky Junky gets it right with these fun Meet My Peeps and Hippity Hop printables. I love the tongue-in-cheek design. Her bunny pennant also featured in this post is made of free paint chips and is equally adorable.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

Tatertots and Jello has created a darling set of printables in turquoise, grey and white. Included are several bunny silhouettes, and pretty text quotes that say Happy Spring and Here Comes Peter Cottontail. I like how this blogger filled a slimmer entryway wall space with several of these prints.

Spring Owls

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

I love the owl trend and these prints with a cartoon feel are no exception. Over at Glued to My Crafts she created two modern springtime owl printables, a third which is welcoming May showers, and a fourth hello spring print. If this is your style, you now have four options that coordinate for your wall or projects.

Antique School Chart- Egg Edition

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

This is a fun project from Knick of Time. She created a vintage looking bird egg identification chart that looks expensive. When you find that first broken bird egg in your backyard, I bet you will be consulting this chart. Both my girly side and my nerdy side love this print.

Hello Spring

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

Sandy Toes and Popsicles is greeting spring with joy with her Hello Spring printable. I want to hide this one in places my husband would not expect it to make him smile, I may hide a copy of this print in the freezer. This would also look sweet framed in the hallway.

Flying Bird

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

If you are a fan of an antique style check out this beautiful bird printable from Laughter and Grace. I love the inspirational quote: She went out on a limb and learned she could fly. This print is motivational without looking like you bought a stock motivational poster.

April Showers Mobile

10 Spring & Easter Free Printables

Craftaholics Anonymous created this sweet April showers mobile that is so very sweet. This one looks quick to make, and would be fun to make with kids. I would hang this one in my window next to my sun catcher.

Shop.ca: $15 Bench Shirts with Free Shipping

Shop.ca: $15 Bench Shirts with Free Shipping

Shop.ca has a few Bench brand shirts on sale for just $14.99 each. All items at Shop.ca qualify for free shipping so this is a good time to pick up a shirt or two from the popular brand Bench.

In the men’s section, we have two different Bench shirts to choose from. This Snooze Slim T-shirt in greymarl is on sale from $35 down to $14.99. The graphic has four old-fashioned alarm clocks on the front. Each alarm clock has one word on it that combine to say “You Snooze You Lose”. Sizes medium and large are still available.

Next, we have the men’s Bench Call In Sick Slim T-shirt in bright white. The graphic features a staircase to the metro on it with some fun play on words in the bubbles. Can you guess what FWRK stands for? Originally $35, the Bench Call in Sick shirt is on sale for $14.99. Sizes small and large are still in stock.

In the women’s section, you have but one choice: the Bench Shootclean C Ss Top in tiger lily was $35, and it is now $14.99. This is a nice, simple, orange top with the Bench logo emblazoned across the front. I like the V-neck and the longer length of this shirt. All sizes are still in stock – from extra-small to extra-large. Some sizes only have a few shirts left. This is a fantastic basic shirt for women that is made of good quality materials. At only $15, you cannot go wrong.

Those are the three shirts I found for only $14.99 with free shipping at Shop.ca. For those with a bit larger budget, I wanted to mention a few $20 Bench shirts as well. In the women’s section, there are four Bench shirts on sale for $19.99.

Obviously, the racer back vest is the best deal out of these four shirts. The men have less selection. They can pick up this Bench Jolter Regular Tshirt – Sulphur that is on sale from $39 down to $19.99.

Personally, I think the $15 shirts are my first choice though I might pick up that racer back top as well. With free shipping, it does not matter if you buy one or more shirts – there are no additional costs.

MEC: Oiselle Flyer Jacket Was $149 | Now $69 & Free Shipping

MEC: Oiselle Flyer Jacket Was $149 | Now $69 & Free Shipping

Spring is coming… to some parts of Canada. Here in BC, runners and walkers are out in full force. Mountain Equipment Co-op has discounted the Oiselle Flyer Jacket from $149 down to $69. As the jacket costs over $50, it will ship to your home for free.

Mountain Equipment Co-op always has fantastic deals in their sale section. I was looking for a backpack when I came across the deal on this light jacket. I found the Oiselle jacket appealing for various reasons. First, the jacket is wind resistant and rain proof. Most jackets with those two features are also terribly loud and somewhat stiff. However, this jacket is nice and soft and it is not loud when your arms rub against your torso while out running or just running for the bus.

This jacket is extremely lightweight and packs up super small. Other features include front pockets with zippers, elasticized cuffs, draw cord at bottom hem, and reflective graphics on the front and back for safety when running at night or in low light.

Pick up the Oiselle Flyer Jacket for women in flame pink or fresh green, which looks more like a yellow. Sizes medium, large, and extra-large are available between the two colour options.

I found a few other jackets on sale around 50% off or more. This Prana Conrad Jacket was $125 and is now on sale for $59. The men’s jacket is available in sizes small and medium. The deep teal colour is different and this men’s jacket has interior ventilation and plenty of pockets for valuables.

This MEC Kimberlite Jacket is another good choice for women who cannot find their size in the Oiselle above. The Kimberlite jacket is more for everyday wear. This jacket has quilted insulation underneath a water-resistant exterior. Keep warm and keep dry at the same time. With the longer length, your butt and hips stay warm as well. Originally $139, the jacket is now on sale for $68. Sizes extra-small and small are still in stock.

If you are shipping at Mountain Equipment Co-op then you should check out their lower priced items as well. These MEC Humboldt SQ 2mm Fingerless Gloves are a great add on item. Originally $19, they are now $5. Pick up an inexpensive toque as well. The MEC Penitentes Toque (Unisex) was $10 and is now $5.

Mabel’s Labels: 40% Off Shoe Labels Was $21 | Now $12.60 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Posted by on March 31, 2015 at 6:24 PM

Mabels Labels: 40% Off Shoe Labels Was $21 | Now $12.60 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Mabel’s Labels is currently offering 40% off shoe labels. The label pack was $21 and is now on sale for $12.60 with free shipping.

You can buy an unlimited number of packs at this sale price. It may take Mabel’s Labels up to a week to ship out your labels due to an increase in demand during this sale. Coupons and vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with sale prices.

Choose from three solid colours or over 40 multi-coloured designs for the regular shoe labels. Each pack comes with 24 duplicate labels in the pattern or colour of your choice. Each label can have up to 20 characters on it, which should be sufficient for most first and last names. You may even want to put your child’s middle name on the labels.

There are 24 labels per package, which gives you enough labels for 12 pairs of shoes when you put a label in each shoe. Shoe labels are especially useful at school where kids may wear the same brand and even the same style of shoe. Your child can find his or her shoes and other children will know those shoes are not their own.

I think these labels are good for anyone who needs to leave their shoes in a public place. I have often wondered whether my shoes would find their way back onto my feet after leaving them out front at the dentist or other place. Several of the swimming pools I used to frequent had a winter boot rack out front. The tried to enforce the policy for members to remove all winter boots at the door and leave them on the boot rack in order to keep the change rooms cleaner. Many a time I wondered if my simple black winter boots would be mistaken for someone else’s boots.

As you may note, there are two different label packs. The pre-school labels are smaller so they can fit into your young child’s shoes. These labels are still enough for 12 pairs of shoes so stick them on rain boots, in winter boots, sneakers, gym shoes, and more.

As per usual, you will receive free shipping on all orders at Mabel’s Labels.

$10 Off $30 Sunday To Thursday @ Montana’s BBQ & Bar

$10 Off $30 Sunday To Thursday @ Montanas BBQ & Bar

Chances are you and your hubby need more date nights. If you are frugal like I am, then you are constantly thinking that it is too expensive, or money can be better spent elsewhere. Here is a little incentive to get out to that romantic dinner at Montana’s BBQ & Bar. Right now Montana’s has a printable coupon to take $10 off when you spend $30.

This Montana’s BBQ & Bar print coupon will get you $10 off when you spend $30. This coupon can only be used Sunday to Thursday between the 31st of March and the 13th of April. While it may seem unfortunate that this coupon cannot be used on Fridays and Saturdays, in all reality, babysitters are much cheaper during the week nights anyway. You can either print this coupon or display it to your waitress on your smartphone.

Montana’s even has their new lunch deals available, with some of the items on the menu being under $10. So even if you wanted to go on a lunch date, I bet you could get two meals and soft drinks for under $30. Then when you use this coupon you will only pay $20! There are lots of appealing items on this part of the Montana’s Menu. The Cookhouse Lunch Trio is just $9.99. This trio will allow you to pick a half sandwich and a salad or soup. You can add cheese or dusted onions for $0.99 more.

If you are looking for a healthier alternative, the Lunch Size Apple Pecan Salad is just delicious, and only $8.99. This salad boasts goat cheese, red pepper strips, spicy glazed pecans, fresh apple and dried cranberries. Don’t forget the mixed greens of course. It is normally served with Balsamic Vinaigrette but you can substitute that for whatever dressing you like. Shrimp skewers can even be added for $4.99.

You will be limited to one coupon per table. Unfortunately alcoholic beverages cannot be included in this offer, but they seem pretty reasonably priced at Montana’s anyway. If you were interested in the lunch menu items I talked about, then just keep in mind that Montana’s BBQ & Grill serves lunch until 4PM everyday. Which should give you lots of time to get in and get your desired meal, even if the babysitter runs late.

SiriusXM: FREE Satellite Radio w/ Subscription! *BUMP!*

SiriusXM: FREE Satellite Radio w/ Subscription! *BUMP!*

*Bump! Sirius XM has this deal on again, so you might want to check it out.* SiriusXM Canada is making it easier to get into their service by offering free devices!

One of the biggest inhibitors to adoption of new services is a need for new equipment. If you want eBooks, you need an eReader. If you want satellite radio stations, you need a satellite radio. SiriusXM is offering you the chance to get beyond that initial cost by offering FREE radios when you sign up for a subscription. The length of the subscription depends on the radio you are getting. Some of the better radios aren’t free but rather discounted so if you want the super high end stuff, you may have to pay a bit.

I have SiriusXM built into my truck but I’ve never used it. It doesn’t hold a huge amount of interest for me but there are two guys who I work with that absolutely swear by it. One guy is borderline obsessed, I think. I guess it all comes down to what you need. I listen to about 17 hours of pod casts a week and I am always listening to audio books so I don’t need SiriusXM. Check out the SiriusXM channel list, I’m sure there will be a lot for you to listen to.

Villeroy & Boch Canada: Allegorie Premium Wine Glasses Were $60 | Now $22 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on March 31, 2015 at 10:29 AM

Villeroy & Boch Canada: Allegorie Premium Wine Glasses Were $60 | Now $22 (EXPIRED)

Villeroy & Boch is having a flash sale, which ends today at 2pm EST. You’ll get 25% off everything, with the discount showing up in your cart. I found a very hot deal on these Allegorie Premium wine glasses, which were $60 and already on sale for $29.95. In your cart, each glass will discount down to $22.49.

I need a nice wine glass to enjoy my wine. My husband has drank wine from plastic cups and enjoys it just as much, but I need the full experience with a nice glass. I even find when drinking from glass, the wine does not taste as nice – I need crystal and I need a nice looking glass too. Of course, if I don’t have the right glass it won’t stop me from drinking, but I really enjoy the perfect wine glass.

There isn’t much information on these glasses on Villeroy & Boch’s site, but as you can see from the photo, they are a very simple, long and thin stemmed glass with a classic style made from crystal glass. I think they are beautiful and am imagining drinking a nice vintage from these.

There are different styles of glasses for each type of wine, all with the same price point.

I think a few of each glass would be the perfect way to stock your glassware. This would make a fantastic gift for a wedding, as a bride and groom would definitely appreciate having their glassware stocked with beautiful glasses that they no doubt wouldn’t buy themselves after paying for a wedding. In fact, I got most of the glassware I have now from my wedding.

Shipping is free on a $250 purchase, which is about 11 glasses. Otherwise, you are looking at a $20 delivery charge for your order. You could also see what else on the site piques your interest, as everything will be discounted by that extra 25% off in your cart until 2pm today.

Koala Logic Canada: Westbeach Upperlevels Men’s Snowboard Pants Were $200 | Now $60

Posted by on March 31, 2015 at 10:09 AM

Koala Logic Canada: Westbeach Upperlevels Mens Snowboard Pants Were $200 | Now $60

I was shocked to find out that we’ve never blogged Koala Logic before and was even more shocked when I found this super hot deal on men’s snowboard pants. Get the Westbeach Upperlevels men’s snowboard pants with a regular price of $200 for $59.99.

Koala Logic has a pretty cool story, which leads right to the deal you are getting. They were two guys from Saskatchewan who loved to get out in our cold Canadian winters, but found that they couldn’t get the gear they wanted here in Canada. They would pay exorbitant amounts of money to get things from American websites, paying duties on top and then wait for their gear to show up. They decided to open Koala Logic so that Canadians actually had a choice to buy their gear from within Canada. I love this story!

Like I said above, I found this super hot deal on the snowboard pants, which are now only $60. I don’t really snowboard, but even I know this is a kick-butt deal because snowboard pants are a minimum of $100 and these have a regular price of $200. I wanted to price compare for you, but as the story goes, I couldn’t find these anywhere else in Canada! What I did see globally were these pants selling for over $100 at sites like Amazon U.K. and $245 at Westbeach, which is also in the U.K. Obviously there will also be duties and shipping costs on top of this as well.

Looking at Sportchek, they’ve got comparable pants, with a minimum price of $99. I honestly don’t think there is a better deal out there for snowpants for men right now.

There are a variety of colours available, with various sizes within. The colours are hard to figure out, with names like Beer Bottle and Langley, but Google could be your friend here if you want to see what each colour really means. Once you add the pants to your cart, you’ll see the colour that you’ve added too.

I found that we also have an exclusive coupon code for $10 off $100. Use bargainmoose10 to get that discount, but first you’ll have to get your cart up there. In doing so, you’ll also get free shipping, which is available once you spend $75. On top of this, if you sign up for their email newsletter, you’ll get a $10 gift certificate to use on this order.

You could take a look at the Westbeach sale, which is up to 70% off. I added this Westbeach Chief men’s softshell jacket to my cart, regularly $130, now $45.50. I signed up for the newsletter, although as I was writing this I still hadn’t gotten my gift certificate. When I do, the total for my cart will be $85.49, although I couldn’t test this to be sure. If it works for you to stack our exclusive and the gift certificate, let me know in the comments below!

Go Gear Canada: DVS Vapor Skate Shoe Was $90 | Now $27 + Shipping

Posted by on March 31, 2015 at 9:29 AM

Go Gear Canada: DVS Vapor Skate Shoe Was $90 | Now $27 + Shipping

If you looking are looking for a great deal on some hot skate shoes, check out these DVS Vapor skate shoes at Go Gear, regularly $90 and now $26.99.

Not only are these good looking shoes, they’ve also got tons of technical features. A classic black suede shoe with a white sole and yellow and black laces, you can wear these with pretty much anything.

Because they are skate shoes, they stand up to the abuse that you’ll use them for. They’ve got Hellalyte technology, which absorbs shock from jumps and falls. A hidden vinyl toe cap protects your toes from those same jumps and falls. Memory foam is also added to keep your feet as comfortable as possible while you trick out on your board all day.

On top of that, it has an anti-microbial footbed to reduce the odours that you know are going to happen when you sweat in your shoes all day.

I found these on sale at one Canadian retailer – Exoshop, where they are $69.95 plus shipping. I did find them at a few U.S. retailers like Motosport where they sell for $53.95 plus shipping and duty and at Amazon.com where they sell for $60.98 plus shipping and duty.

Obviously this deal from Go Gear is the best out there. There are shipping charges of $10.95, unless you spend over $100 and then your shipping will be free. Even with those added shipping charges, this is a great deal.

There were no reviews on Go Gear’s website, but I found a few on Amazon.com where they give it an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. Reviewers site that this is the best skate shoe there is because it is comfortable and lightweight and can be worn for hours. They allow the skater to do tricks with ease and they don’t wear out easily, even after hours and hours of skating.

Garage Canada: Juliette Velvet Tee Was $23 | Now $5.50 & Free Shipping

Posted by on March 30, 2015 at 2:39 PM

Garage Canada: Juliette Velvet Tee Was $23 | Now $5.50 & Free Shipping

Garage Canada is offering free shipping with no minimum right now – so it is the perfect time to raid the sale section. This Juliette Velvet Tee was $22.90 and is now on sale from $22.90 down to $5.50.

There are plenty of reasons I like this tee. First of all, it is an off the shoulder tee with long sleeves. I like how the tee is a bit revealing at the top and then full coverage on the torso and arms. I think the combination of showing sum but not all is very aesthetically pleasing. it is probably why I like tank tops with jeans and long-sleeve shirts with shorts.

This top also has ruching at the bust to allow for a bit more boob room. I find that pretty important in my tops, as I am pretty much on the top end of La Senza bra sizes. This top also comes in the most gorgeous dark green velvet. I LOVE velvet and that does not make me a hippy! Currently I have two velvet skirts (one blue, one wine red) and a black burned velvet dress that is just gorgeous. Velvet is so soft against the skin that I want to stroke my skirts every time I wear them.

Now, feedback looks a little iffy on this top – but it is easy to see why:

The fit and type of the shirt is awesome. Def go one size up, it’s so small and the material does not stretch.

Yup, there are size issues. Even though the top is made with 7% spandex that is just not enough stretch! All reviews suggest going up at least one size from your normal Garage size.

I think this is a truly gorgeous top and would look amazing with all sorts of bottoms. Try a black pleated skirt, high-waisted jeans, or even a pair of cut-off shorts.

As Garage Canada is offering free shipping with no minimum, you should check out the rest of the sale section. This Sweater Flippy Skirt was $32.90 and is now only $9.50. This Striped Henley Baseball Tee was also $26.95 and is now $9.50. There are plenty of great items in the sale section with many shirts, bottoms, and accessories all under $10 if you want.

Dynamite Canada: Eternity Scarf Was $25 | Now $5 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Dynamite Canada: Eternity Scarf Was $25 | Now $5 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Thanks to Mooser Kristy for posting this great deal in our forums. Purchase the Open Stitch Eternity Scarf that is on sale from $24.90 down to $5 with free shipping at Dynamite Clothing.

All I can say is – great deal! You would expect to pay around $5 for a good condition used scarf at Goodwill or Value Village. Therefore, this being brand new and from the original company is great.

This scarf is made of 100% acrylic fibres. The chunky open stitch and cable knit scarf comes in a muted ‘butterscotch’ colour sure to match with nearly anything you throw at it. Layer it over a jacket for extra warmth around your face. On a cold evening, drape it around your neck over a long sleeve shirt. I find that eternity scarves work really well as a makeshift bolero / shawl to keep my shoulders warm. I have often aspired one with a tank top for a little extra coverage from the elements.

Unlike many other scarves (think wool), this scarf is machine washable. I suggest laying it down to dry so you can keep the nice chunky knit in good condition.

The scarf has four reviews for a perfect 5/5 rating on Dynamite. One reviewer said:

Bought this scarf a month ago and it has to be my favourite scarf in my closet! It is big and comfy and works with everything I wear! It looks great with my faux leather jackets or even just a simple shirt. I highly recommend this to all scarf fans. It’s a great staple in my wardrobe!

There you go – more wardrobe styling suggestions.

Now, Dynamite Canada is currently offering free shipping with no minimum on all orders. This offer can be combined with anything in the sale section. This Tassel Pendant Necklace was $14.95 and is now on sale for $5. if you need a few new basics in your wardrobe, clothing also starts at only $5. This High Low Modal Tee was $19.90 and is now only $5. As you would expect, sizes and quantities are limited.

I really like this deal on the scarf because it is 80% off the original price and ships to you for free. Free shipping is becoming a rarity these days (see Margarita’s post about Walmart) so it is always a nice deal.

Toys R Us: Mega Bloks Call of Duty Heavy Armor Outpost Was $65 | Now $35 & Free Shipping

Toys R Us: Mega Bloks Call of Duty Heavy Armor Outpost Was $65 | Now $35 & Free Shipping

Toys R Us Canada has discounted many building block sets up to 30%. I found this cool Mega Bloks – Call of Duty – Heavy Armor Outpost on sale from $64.99 down to $45.47. Using the coupon code CINEPLEXHOLIDAY this set comes down to just $35.47. It also qualifies for free shipping on orders of $25 or more so this set will ship to your home for free.

I like deals where a combination of discounts and offers combined make for the best price possible. Here you have the original set on sale, plus free shipping as the set is over the minimum threshold. Add on the $10 off coupon code and the deal becomes really quite nice.

Toys R Us: Mega Bloks Call of Duty Heavy Armor Outpost Was $65 | Now $35 & Free Shipping

You can see how that turns out in my cart above. Overall, you save $29.52 on the toy and $8.41 on shipping.

I tried price comparing this set but nowhere in Canada is it still in stock. At Amazon Canada, marketplace sellers are asking $99+ for the set and Walmart Canada does not stock it. I turned to the USA to get some idea of this set’s value:

  • $64.99 CAN @ MegaBloks.com
  • $50.89 US @ Amazon.com
  • $59.97 US @ Walmart.com
  • $50.99 US @ Target.com

As you can see, Toys R Us Canada easily beats the prices coming out of the USA as well. This Call of Duty set features a main battle tank that is heavily armoured and comes with a heavy machine gun and main cannon on a rotating turret. The tracks on the battle tank really spin as well. There is also a buildable outpost with a camouflage canopy that can attach to your tank. The set comes with three pose-able figures with interchangeable accessories and weapons. Overall, this is a pretty awesome set and well worth the money. As one reviewer says:

The manufacturing quality is the best I’ve ever seen from a company outside of the Grand Master = LEGO. There is so much detail to the set that it’s more of a model than a toy, but don’t think that means it’s flimsy, it’s a rugged piece! I also am a big fan of the new, super-articulated figures. It can be a bit tedious to put the figures together sometimes, but you can really get some realistic poses out of them.

Many reviewers have said that this set is one of the best that Mega Bloks has ever made. They love the new figures, they love the amazing detail on the tank, and now you can love the price.

Origins Coupon Code: 20% Off & Free Shipping TODAY

Origins Coupon Code: 20% Off & Free Shipping TODAY

Origins Canada has released a lovely coupon code for 20% off your entire order plus free shipping with no minimum.

Click here to shop @ Origins Canada now

  • Coupon Code: FRIENDS
  • Discount: 20% off & free shipping
  • Expiry: Unknown

This Origins coupon code is great because Origins rarely offers free shipping with no minimum and – while they have frequent coupons for free products – they rarely have coupons for a flat discount on all products.

Origins and Origin always confuse me. One simple ‘S’ is the difference between a website that sells game (Origin) and a website that sells all natural personal care and beauty products (Origins). Origins is a fantastic place to shop if you have sensitivities, or are just tired of the chemicals they put into products. I have heard great things about the company and plan to try them the next time I am short on any personal products.

My first product choice would be the Lavender and Vanilla Oil for bath & body priced at $29. After coupon code, I would only pay $23.20 and receive free shipping as well. Lavender is a very calming and soothing scent while vanilla is one of my favourite scents. It reminds me of freshly baked vanilla cookies. My only concern is that they use a base of soyabean oil.

Origins Coupon Code: 20% Off & Free Shipping TODAY

I recently have been turning a friend of mine – male – on to all natural skin care products. This Active Charcoal body soap looks like a great soap for removing impurities. While body wash is nice, per use bar soap lasts longer as it is not watered down. Look at most any bottle of body wash and the first ingredient is aqua – water. This bar of soap retails for $17.50, but comes down to $14 after coupon.

Adult acne can be a real pain in the face… so acne control is a popular product these days. If you suffer from acne, then try this Acne treatment gel that is a top seller at Origins. I can understand why it would be a top seller, because having acne can really ruin your day. Originally $18, the gel comes down to $14.40 after coupon code. Receive free shipping on any product you want.

At checkout, be sure to select your free sample(s) as well. These are a nice way to try new products without buying a full size container. I recently had a sample that made me fall head over heels for the product – that is the way it should be!
