So far we’ve been telling family and friends about it and everyone has been very understanding because they all know we’ve been living together and have a home together for almost 2 years. I can’t see why anyone would be offended quite honestly.

We are letting our friends and family know in person, and putting a message about it on our wedding website. We didn’t want a registry for gifts seeing as we already live together and have everything we need for our household. Plus we are thinking of moving out of province and won’t be bringing anything with us besides the bare essentials. I’ve been to quite a few weddings so far who have done the same thing. And guests aren’t obligated to give money, they can give a card only, or nothing at all. Even if we had a gift registry there’s no obligation for our guests to buy us something.

Lovely post Jessica, I really like the chalkboard idea and will probably be trying that myself. I’ve already got the tin of paint from a kid’s project. And yes… how do you be tactful about the money thing? I plan on doing the same. We already have our own home, kids, furniture, everything we really need…

Hi there, I’m not trying to be inflammatory, but you’re only accepting cards or gifts? Since when is that not incredibly rude? How do you do that, put a note on the invite that says ‘money only’?
