Westjet Canada Coupon: 20% Off Next Flight

Posted by on December 15, 2014 at 1:48 PM

Westjet Canada Coupon: 20% Off Next Flight

West Jet has released a 20% off coupon code perhaps as a response to Air Canada’s GiftMassive code giveaway. Westjet Canada’s coupon code is valid on Econo fares between January 7th and June 15th 2015.

Click here to book your flight @ Westjet Canada now

  • Promo Code: WJP72
  • Coupon Code: NXRXJGF
  • Expiry: 30th December 2014 11:59 EST

This coupon covers nearly six months’ worth of travel giving you plenty of date flexibility. There are two blackout periods for which this coupon will not work: April 1 to 7, 2015 and May 14 to 19, 2015.

The link above should automatically fill in the promo and coupon code; however, I have included them in case it does not fill them in for you. The discount percentage is applied to the base fare only and excludes taxes, fees, and extra charges. The coupon is valid for one-way and round-trip flights.

As Anna mentioned in her Air Canada post, just because a company is handing you a 20% off coupon code does not mean they have the cheapest flights. We recommend Google Flights to price compare the flight you are looking at. You can also price compare between the Air Canada deal with their coupon and West jet with this new 20% off coupon to see which airline is offering the best deal.

Now that I live away from my family, I understand the yearly or bi-yearly pilgrimage that other people make to go visit their relatives. I still live close enough that I could theoretically drive, but flying is a lot less exhausting than a 14 – 16 hour drive. With a good flight deal, it can also cost about the same if you factor in fuel, food, and taking a vehicle across the ferry twice. That is even without a hotel room for a midnight stop.

I was looking at flying from Vancouver to Edmonton in the spring. A one-way flight starts at $151.54 before taxes and discount. Thus, a round trip ticket would cost only $305.18 for one person after discount. Even adding on bus and walk-on ferry transit (+$50) I cannot drive my car there and back for that price as the ferry alone would cost me $140 round-trip with a vehicle.

Where are you going to travel this coming year Moosers?

For this and any future Westjet coupon codes, visit our forum. We try to keep them up to date there.

Air Canada GiftMassive Giveaway: Free Flights, or 10% to 20% Discount! *** HOT ***

Posted by on December 13, 2014 at 9:21 AM

Air Canada is having a GiftMassive giveaway! Within this promotion, they are giving away instant coupon codes for up to 20% discount on the cost of their flights, and also some free flights!

On the above page, you’ve got to pop in your email address as they will instantly email you a coupon code, or details of your prize. For example, when I first tried it, I got a 10% coupon code. They’re all one-time use coupon codes and not shareable. So if you want one, give it a try on the link above.

The prize breakdown is this:

  • 500,000 codes for 10% discount off any Air Canada Tango base
  • 350,000 codes for 15% discount any Air Canada Tango base
  • 150,000 codes for 20% discount off any Air Canada Tango base fare
  • 65 pairs of Economy Class round-trip tickets for the winner & travelling companion (Canada/US)

Here’s the type of thing you will see when you enter the giveaway on the Air Canada page:

Air Canada GiftMassive Giveaway: Free Flights, or 10% to 20% Discount! *** HOT ***

Once you have chosen your prize as shown in the screenshot above, here’s a little glitch that seems to be happening. If you take the base URL:

And have a little fiddle with the number at the end (change it to different numbers), different codes and prize combos seem to appear. I found a 20% code with this:

Air Canada GiftMassive Giveaway: Free Flights, or 10% to 20% Discount! *** HOT ***

Now Moosers, you’ve got to be savvy shoppers here. Just because Air Canada are handing you a 10% or 15% coupon code doesn’t necessarily mean that this is the best price you can get for your flight. If you have a set trip in mind, you’re going to want to head over to Google Flights and compare the exact same flights and dates to those on Air Canada’s website. In some cases, there may be no benefit to using the Air Canada coupon codes, you may be better booking through Google Flights – so make sure you check it out.

I did just this when I was checking out some prices for a flight between Winnipeg and Toronto in January. It turns out that using the above 20% code ended up saving me $80 – so that was well worth it.

If you are interested in using this deal, get in fast before Air Canada discovers their mistake.

Air Canada Coupon Code: 15% Off for Cyber Monday (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 1, 2014 at 11:36 AM

Air Canada Coupon Code: 15% Off for Cyber Monday (EXPIRED)

Air Canada has a rare 15% off coupon code for travel dates January 12 through June 15, 2015 that are booked today only!

Click here to book your next flight with Air Canada now

  • Coupon Code: CYBERMONDAY
  • Discount: 15% off travel
  • Expiry: 1st December 2014

The coupon expires at 11:59PM in the time zone of your departing city. Thus, if you were leaving from Vancouver this Air Canada coupon code would expire at midnight PST.

Travel dates are restricted to January 12 to June 15, 2015 with April 1 to April 7 blacked out. The coupon is valid on Canadian, U.S., international destinations, and various sun destinations as well for Tango and Flex Fares. You can book for up to nine passengers at a time, so even small groups can take advantage of this promotion.

I am not fond of flying as planes are notorious at arriving so late that I barely make my next transfer, or getting cancelled so I do not make my transfer, or even losing my luggage. However, I love travelling so flying is one of those necessary things especially when you want to get to some place across the ocean in a timely manner – a cruise ship just will not do it.

My partner has a real hankering for visiting England this year. Flights to London are not exactly cheap, so we will certainly be on the lookout for coupons like this one once we narrow down some dates. The conversion between the British pound and the Canadian dollar is always painful, but London is an amazing place to visit and their museums are amazing. The British Museum is even free to visit and one of my favourite places in London. I hope to spend more than a few hours there this time.

As an added bonus, every flight book enters you into a draw for the aircanada.com 10 Million Aeroplan Miles Contest. That would certainly be a nice thing to win! Just think of all the places you could travel with that many Aeroplan points.

This is a Cyber Monday deal only people, so book now! Where is your next flight going to take you?

Hotwire Coupon Code: $10 Off $100

Posted by on November 18, 2014 at 4:30 PM

Hotwire Coupon Code: $10 Off $100

You really don’t see too many Hotwire coupons out there, which is why this coupon is special. Get $10 off your $100 booking on Hotwire with promo code.

Click here to book your hotel @ Hotwire.com now

  • Coupon Code: THANKS10
  • Discount: $10 off $100
  • Expiry: 30th November 2014

I found something quite interesting with this coupon code. When I added it to my hotel booking, it took off more than $10, and in fact took off $11.48, no matter the price of the hotel. I think this is because Hotwire is a U.S. based site and it is giving me $10 USD off, which is most likely equal to $11.48. Score for us Canadians!

The rates on Hotwire are already pretty reasonable if you really don’t care what hotel you stay in, you just want certain features. For example, I searched Christmas Eve in downtown Toronto. I was coming up with many three and four star hotels for less than $100. But, for the purposes of this coupon, we want hotels with a before total of $100 or more. This means we can go up a star or get more features and a higher regular price for our hotel, but still take off the extra $11.48.

The coupon only works on secret hot rate hotels, but don’t be nervous about using this feature. I know a few people (including myself) who have used this feature to score really great rates on hotels and were always happy with what they came up with. In fact, I have a few friends who can easily figure out what hotel they are actually booking, simply by researching with the location, amenities and regular price information.

I know there are many of us out there (also including myself) who will need to book hotels around the holidays to visit family and friends and what better way than to get a discount too. The holidays are expensive enough, why spend more than you have to on your accommodations?

Before you book any sort of travel, always look to the coupon forum for Hotwire coupon codes and sales!

Bed & Breakfast Promo Code: Free Gift Card

Posted by on November 4, 2014 at 3:30 PM

Bed & Breakfast Promo Code: Free Gift Card

If you are looking for an amazing gift idea for a new couple, a couple celebrating their anniversary, or just for someone (including yourself) who needs a little getaway, consider a Bed & Breakfast gift card. Right now you can use the promo code below to get yourself a free $100 gift card when you buy $350 in gift cards.

Click here to shop @ Bedandbreakfast.com now

  • Coupon Code: BIG100
  • Discount: $100 gift with purchase
  • Expiry: 5th November 2014

You might have to think fast on this promo, as its only on until the end of the day tomorrow. What’s also great about this promotion is that you only need to buy a total of $350 in gift cards, but you don’t need to buy one large gift card. You can split it up anyway you’d like. If you are an employer, this might make a wonderful gift for your employees. I’m sure they’d appreciate a $50 or $100 gift card for Christmas and you won’t have to tell them that you got $100 free. If they work for you, you are probably well aware that they need a break! Add a paid day off into the mix and that would make a winner Christmas gift.

Bed and Breakfast has places all over Canada, the U.S., and beyond. This would make a gift for someone who is staying close to home, or going abroad. If this person is you, you won’t mind saving yourself $100 off the total cost of your trip either.

Note that when you search for your destination, it will tell you if the inn accepts the gift cards. For instance, I love Collingwood and while I don’t really enjoy paying inordinate amounts to stay in the village, I could stay a night (or three) at the Pretty River Valley Country Inn. Normally $145 a night, instead of paying $435 for those three nights, I’d pay only the $350 I spent on the initial gift cards.

I noticed that Bed & Breakfast also has another promo code starting on November 6th, so if you are reading this a little late, don’t be shy to grab that promo code to use on your purchase. The free gift cards aren’t as large as this one, but the total purchase is less too.

Hudson’s Bay Canada: Carry-On Luggage Deals

Posted by on November 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM

Hudsons Bay Canada: Carry On Luggage Deals

You may have heard that both WestJet and Air Canada are now charging for every checked baggage. It will now cost you approximately $50 per bag round-trip. A good way to save on luggage fees is to downsize your luggage to carry-on size. During Bay Days, Hudson’s Bay Canada has some good deals on quality carry-on luggage that will save you money in the end.

Let us clarify the airline luggage changes first:

Air Canada

Any economy flights will now incur a luggage fee of $25 per checked bag each way. Flex and Latitude fares allow your first bag free for tickets issued on or after September 18, 2014 for travel on or after November 2, 2014.

WestJet

Any economy flights will now incur a luggage fee of $25 – $29.50 per checked bag each way. Flex fare and Plus fare allow your first bag free. This charge is for domestic flights. In addition, if you are traveling outside of Canada, then your first bag is free. I assume that is true for Air Canada as well.

This means your trip can get expensive in a hurry if you are flying domestic. Each airline allows two free carry-on bags per person and I highly recommend maximizing this feature. One must be able to fit under the seat in front of you. The maximum dimensions for carry-on luggage (maximum 22lbs each) are:

  • Standard article: 9″ x 15.5″ x 21.5″
  • Personal article: 6″ x 13″ x 17″

For your standard article, I recommend picking up a carry on for each member of your family. I picked out a few suitcases under $80:

If you take just two trips with any of these carry-on size luggage instead of checking a bag, you will be saving money. Personally, I am eyeing up a slight more expensive piece. I want the It’s a Small World 21 inch by Heys as they are my favourite brand and that luggage is just darling. Originally $300, it is now on sale for $120.

Shipping is free on orders of $49 or more if you pay with an HBC Card. With all other currencies, shipping starts at $5.95 and is free on orders of $99 or more.

Air Canada: Seat Sale for 15% off 2 Days Only

Posted by on October 23, 2014 at 3:30 PM

Air Canada: Seat Sale for 15% off 2 Days Only

There is a pretty awesome deal happening right now at Air Canada for just two days only.  Save 15% on select flights with Air Canada, Air Canada Express or Air Canada rouge.

There are a variety of flights you can get the 15% off and this will definitely help with all of those extra fees now being issued with airlines.

This deal includes Canadian destinations, US, and international destinations and they are all 15% off without even needing a coupon code. I live in Calgary and I have family all over the US and Canada and even some family in the Caribbean so when I saw that it applies to pretty much anywhere Air Canada flies, I was excited immediately.

All of the prices listed online are one way fares. I have listed a few examples so you can get an idea of some of the great prices.

  • Calgary to Vancouver now $167
  • Toronto to Moncton now $157
  • Toronto to Quebec City now $169
  • Toronto to Boston now $163
  • Winnipeg to New York now $241
  • Toronto to Pairs now $766

As you can see, there are some pretty great deal to grab right now.

Something to keep in mind is that Air Canada is now charging a fee for all baggage.  They announced this the day after Westjet did with the fees varying on where you are headed.  Within Canada and some US destinations, the fee is $20 per bag.  Some US destinations are $25 a bag and international destinations are now up to $100 per bag depending on the country.

Most of the time, Air Canada lists blackout dates and dates of travel for when the deal is valid.  For some reason, they have not done that with this sale, which is a little disappointing since they seem to always have some kind of blackout dates. You may just have to play around to see if your travels will work with this 15% discount.

This is all of the information we know for this sale and as an avid traveller myself with a family of four, I know how awesome that 15% discount will be per ticket. This is especially true during the holidays!

Happy traveling Moosers!

Sandals: $1,500 Weddingmoon Credit

Posted by on September 27, 2014 at 9:30 AM

Sandals: $1,500 Weddingmoon Credit

Getting married? Congratulations! My suggestion: elope to a far-away destination. Sandals is making it easy for you to do that with their Weddingmoon promotion, which gives you $1500 in credits.

I’m going to say I’m an expert on this topic because 1) I’ve been married twice with two different styles of weddings and 2) one of them was at Sandals. My first wedding was a fun affair, but consisted of months of stressful planning, falling-outs with family and friends because of the wedding plans and cost quite a bit. My second wedding where my husband and I ran off with two friends took literally no planning, cost me just the cost of a honeymoon and a dress and was stress-free.

Sandals really knows how to do weddings. Everything is super easy from the time you arrive at the resort. You take a look at a book to choose your location, flowers, your cake and your dinner and you book any appointments you want. Done. All included too! Now, on top of this, you’ll get a $500 wedding credit, $500 jewelry credit and $500 in bonus credits. Also, things have changed since I got married and you can do this all online so you don’t use any of your time away planning. It is so much fun too and almost (almost) makes me want to get married again.

Choose your destination, your theme and then you can choose your wedding items. Your $500 credit can be used to have a free beautiful beginnings wedding or can go towards a custom or pre-designed wedding theme.

Your bonus credits can be used towards side trips or fun activities, plus paying for your minister, getting a room upgrade, a honeymoon video and much more – its all your choice.

Plus, you get a $500 credit to choose jewellery, either for yourself or your guests or your spouse. I really love the charm designer and if you are a man planning this wedding, this is a gorgeous gift to give your new bride after the wedding, which she could add to with the addition of each child or on anniversaries.

I got married at Sandals Grande Riviera but they all look beautiful. Any moosers on here married at Sandals?

Expedia Coupon Code: Get $100 Off $400 Hotel Bookings Today Only! (EXPIRED)

Posted by on September 20, 2014 at 12:40 PM

Expedia Coupon Code: Get $100 Off $400 Hotel Bookings Today Only! (EXPIRED)

Here’s a deal which you can take advantage of TODAY only! It’s for making a hotel booking through the Expedia.ca tablet app only – you can get $100 discount on a $400 spend. That’s a nice discount amount!

Click here to visit & browse on Expedia.ca

Click here for info about the new tablet app

  • Coupon Code: MOBILETABLET100 (EXPIRED)
  • Discount: $100 off $400
  • Expires: 20th September 2014

The full terms and conditions of this particular offer are listed here. I won’t paste them all in here, but you basically have to book today for travel by the end of the year 2014. There are a number of hotel exclusions too. You must make your booking through the new Expedia.ca tablet app. $100 is a great saving just for downloading and making the booking through their app. It’s a good incentive for you to get the app on your device, and then perhaps use it again when making hotel bookings in the future.

Last week, we saw a very similar offer from rival travel site here, Travelocity.ca. They are also offering an app-inspired coupon, it’s for $25 off $99. Obviously if you’re making a small booking, that might be a better one to make use of. But, if you are making a slightly larger booking, consider the price on Expedia.ca along with the $100 discount code.

This Expedia coupon code is saved here on our coupon forum. We aim to have the best coupon pages in Canada, so always check there before you make any online purchase.

Over the last few years as Bargainmoose has been growing, I’m finding that I have to travel to various events and I’m getting to meet with many of the stores that we write about here on the site. A few weeks ago, the last place that Eva and I travelled was to sunny California! We visited Santa Barbara for a conference, and I can say this, the hotel was NOT cheap. In that case, I actually booked through the Orbitz platform and gained some account credit on there, to use towards my next purchase. However, I didn’t realise when booking – there was no free cancellation policy. I was disappointed in this as a few days later, we made a change to our itinerary and we could have done with cancelling that particular hotel. So… if you’re making a booking on any site, be it Expedia or Orbitz, or any of the myriad other travel portals out there, make sure you check the hotel’s cancellation policy before you finalise your purchase.

Disney World: Free Dining Plans With Magic Your Way Package

Posted by on September 9, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Disney World: Free Dining Plans With Magic Your Way PackageThis deal couldn’t come at a better time for me as I’m on the search for an affordable family vacation over the winter to give as a Christmas gift. You do have to travel by December 23rd, but I know that is doable for us, so this is perfect. Bascially you’ll book your hotel and theme park tickets (Magic Your Way package) and you’ll get a free dining plan based on your level of accommodations.

Basically, you need to book a 6 day/7 night package at regular price and you’ll get your dining plan free. If you choose a value resort, you’ll get the quick service dining plan. If you choose a moderate resort hotel, deluxe resort hotel or deluxe villa resort hotel you’ll get the regular dining plan free. There are a few differences between the plans.

The regular plan gives you one quick service meal, one snack and one table service meal per day. It sounds like its up to you to decide when you want to sit down and have a meal and when you want to do something quick. I know with my kids, middle of the day is a much better time to sit down and eat as once they get tired, keeping them wrangled up does not work.

If you are a family who doesn’t enjoy any sit-down meals with your kids, or you want to save some money, the quick service option could be for you. Getting a value resort with the quick service dining option would definitely be your most cost-effective way of seeing Disney. It includes two quick service meals and one snack per day. It sounds like you get the same amount of food with both plans.

I love travelling a the beginning of December as the weather isn’t too horrible yet and I find it isn’t a time when a lot of people go away because they are too worried about getting ready for the holidays.

Not having to worry about paying for your food while you are riding rides, watching shows and generally just having a blast with your family is seriously priceless. I had considered renting a house while visiting Disney but do I really want to clean up after everyone and make them all dinner and breakfast each day on my holidays? Doesn’t sound fun.

Travelocity Coupon Code For $25 Off $99 Hotel Booking Via The App!

Posted by on September 6, 2014 at 5:30 PM

Travelocity Coupon Code For $25 Off $99 Hotel Booking Via The App!

Apps are everywhere now… apps for timing your labor contractions, apps for tracking the distance you run, apps for entertaining you on the loo! But apps can also save you money… such as the deal below which you can get via the Travelocity app. If you use this coupon code on their app, you can instantly get a $25 discount on your first hotel booking of $99 or more.

Click here for more info about the app @ Travelocity.ca

  • Coupon Code: Mobile25
  • Discount: $25 off $99
  • Expires: 31st December 2014

There is a huge chunk of terms and conditions on the above page, and I am not going to paste them all in to this blog post. The main one is that you have to use this coupon code on your first hotel booking before the 31st of December 2014. They do say that the coupon code is applicable to “qualifying hotels” so it could be the case that it’s not valid on every single location.

If you were planning a short trip… or even just a single night away as a treat, this could be an ideal coupon code to make use of. Just stick in the dates of your choice and test the above coupon code to see if you can score the extra $25 off.

I’ve not actually used Travelocity before… am I the only one? There are so many online hotel portals now and I tend to go for the same ones again and again (Priceline, Hotwire, Orbitz, Hotels.com). Sometimes I find that the deals are very similar… although the “name your own price” feature on Priceline really stands out from the crowd. But with the likes of the $25 coupon code above for Travelocity, you could choose a named hotel and get a great price, without the worry about not knowing which hotel you’re going to get.

Lonely Planet Coupon Code: Free eBook with Guidebook Purchase

Posted by on August 20, 2014 at 10:30 PM

Lonely Planet Coupon Code: Free eBook with Guidebook Purchase

Lonely Planet has released a new coupon code. Purchase a guidebook and receive any ebook for free.

Click here to shop @ Lonely Planet now

  • Coupon Code: EBOOKFREE
  • Discount: free eBook with book purchase
  • Expiry: 22nd August 2014

Choose any print book and any eBook. Add both copies to your cart and then apply the coupon code. It will take off the cost off the eBook. This is, essentially, a two for one deal that can come in handy if you are traveling to a couple different places this coming year.

When we go anywhere truly exotic, we like to pick up the travel books. It really improves the quality of our trip and we use the guidebook to ensure we are not missing any big attractions during our stay. If you are traveling to Iceland, I suggest picking up the physical copy of the travel guide. A lot of the country is wild so you might not want to be carting your tablet around with the eBook version. The Iceland Travel Guide retails for $25.99 USD. It is probably my favourite place that we have traveled to so far. The air was incredibly clean and the weather was absolutely perfect (we went in May). There was so much to do and see as well. I loved hiking up a glacier, snorkeling the rift, and caving in volcano tubes.

Second on my list of favourite places that I have visited is New Zealand. They have amazing foliage, beautiful beaches including black sand (which is so soft on your feet), and one of the most volcanically active surfaces in the world: Rotarua. It is an incredible place to visit and I would love to go back. Well, except for the horribly long flight. Pick up the eBook version of the New Zealand Travel Travel Guide. The eBook retails for $19.59 USD, but you will receive it free with the above coupon code.

I am all about experiencing new things, but I had such fun in these places that I really want to go back. I feel like I can do so much more in these beautiful countries.

Lonely Planet offers free shipping on orders over US$40.  I found that my order was still free as long as the original price was over $40, even if the coupon brought it under that.

Check the Bargainmoose forums for more Lonely Planet coupons that you might find useful.

WestJet Canada: Seat Sale, Today Only

If you are like me and have family living in different provinces, you may be on the hunt for a good seat sale.  Right now at WestJet Canada, they have a seat sale happening with flight deals within Canada.

To get these deals, you must book by the end of the day today and travel between September 2nd 2014 until February 10th 2015. Naturally, there are some black out dates with this sale, as follows: October 9th to 14th, 2014 and December 16th, 2014 to January 5th, 2015.  Basically, they are during the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Here is a look at some of the seat sale prices you will see:

  • Victoria to Calgary $161.83
  • Toronto to Moncton $157.21
  • Vancouver to Prince George $146.08
  • Regina to Calgary $161.83
  • Calgary to Kelowna $134.53
  • Toronto to Quebec City $152.69

There are no coupons to get any of these deals, and there will be extra taxes and fees charged on top just like any ticket would have. All of the fares posted above are based on a one way ticket. I also love the fact that all of the major airports and cities are included with this deal. A lot of the time, deals like this will just be for select flights from the huge airports such as Toronto. Having such a better selection is a big bonus for traveling.

I love sales like this because normally, the seat sales are for outside of Canada.  I have never figured out why we get charged more to fly inside of Canada than outside.

This is the perfect opportunity to grab a ticket for a low price to make a visit to see friends and family.  I actually have family in two different provinces, so the only way my family of four can travel by plane is with a seat sale like this one. If you figure you are saving even $100 per ticket, that is $400 each way for a family of four being saved.  It doesn’t get much better than that!
