East Side Mario’s Canada: Get Kids Meals, Mario’s Chillers or Desserts For Just $2 on Tuesdays

East Side Marios Canada: Get Kids Meals, Marios Chillers or Desserts For Just $2 on Tuesdays

Tuesday always feels better than Monday. Mainly because we are one day closer to Friday, but East Side Mario’s just gave us another reason to appreciate Tuesday. Head into your local East Side Mario’s restaurant on a Tuesday (including today) and you can enjoy a variety of Kids meals, Mario’s Chillers, and desserts for just $2 each.

Could you imagine feeding your kids for just $2 each? Now that can be a reality. Every Tuesday, East Side Mario’s Canada offers their $2 Tuesdays promotion. Now you can enjoy kids meals, Mario’s Chillers and desserts for just $2 each. The second day of the week just got so much better! The catch is that these offers are valid for dine-in only. You can’t order these delicious items for take out and get the same deal unfortunately.

There is quite a selection of items available for just $2, you and your kiddo will not be disappointed. If you wanted to go just for dessert, you can do that too. Sometimes my best friend and I will go to East Side Mario’s or Kelsey’s just to get a drink and dessert, to catch up and enjoy a treat. At East Side Mario’s you can choose between the B&W Chocolate Mousse Cake, Buddha Binger Bites or Mario’s Super Sundae for just $2. Anyone can enjoy one of these three items I am sure. I know I wouldn’t mind trying all three. These desserts would have normally cost you $3 each.

The Buddha Binger Bites might confuse you with their name, but they are delicious. They are bits of pizza dough, deep fried and then put in cinnamon sugar. They are served with a delicious caramel dipping sauce and I would pick these over Timbits anyday. Get a dessert and a chiller and you have yourself a $12 girls’ night out. The Mario’s Chillers sound delicious too. Choose from flavours like Jolly Rancher, Root Beer Float, Sparkling Shirley Temple, Cookie Cream Dream, S’mores Shake and more. These drinks sound like a dessert on their own.

There is no exclusions to the kids meals included in this offer. Choose any kids meal you want for your little one, and pay just $2. There is a limit to 8 kids meals though. So hopefully you don’t have more than 8 children, haha. Kids, you can choose from delectable items like Chicken Fingers, Cheese Cappelletti, Kids Top Sirloin, Chicken Parmigiana and more. Where else could you get your kid a meal like that for just $2?

Bring Your Own Cup $1.49 Slurpee Day @ 7-Eleven Canada (EXPIRED)

Posted by on March 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM

Bring Your Own Cup $1.49 Slurpee Day @ 7 Eleven Canada (EXPIRED)

This event is becoming legendary. 7-Eleven Canada is offering Slurpees for only $1.49 on March 20th when you bring your own cup. You can fill almost any food safe container, which means this is enough Slurpee for an entire family.

7-Eleven has offered several different versions of this Slurpee event over the years. This year 7-Eleven is bringing back the very popular bring your own cup promotion. For only $1.49 you can fill any cup with a variety of delicious flavours in store between 11am and 7pm. This is the price of a small Slurpee, so you are getting a lot of frozen beverage for your money.

There are some rules on the container you put your Slurpee. Make sure your chosen container fits these rules so you can take your Slurpee home.

  • Your container can only be a maximum of 26 cm in diameter. They have a “magic measuring hole” in store and your container must fit inside.
  • Your container has to hold liquids and be leak proof. You cannot just hold your hands or hat under the Slurpee machine.
  • Only one container per person, per day is allowed. If your brain is not frozen from the first one, I suppose you could hit up multiple locations.
  • The container must be food safe. No gasoline cans or containers that previously held antifreeze.

The Huffington Post Canada featured some of the craziest containers from last year’s Slurpee Day. You have to check out those photos!

Is your mouth beginning to water for Slurpee? Check out this list of some of the available flavours. Flavours may vary based on location.

  • Sour Cherry
  • Manitoba Mosquito Bite (Orange Crush)
  • Crush Lite Grape
  • Mountain Dew Voltage
  • Brisk Lemonade
  • Mug Rootbeer
  • Schweppes Ginger Ale
  • 7up
  • Dr. Pepper Cherry

Head over to 7-Eleven for your Slurpee tomorrow. There will be a lot of brain freezes across Canada, and not because it is still winter. I think I will save some of mine in my freezer.

Bargainmoosers, what is your favourite Slurpee flavour or flavour combination?

Buy Yogurtys & Get $40 off $99 @ Shop.ca!

I’m not going to make this post very long as it is technically an in-store offer, and there are not a lot of details online. But in brief, if you buy select Froyos in-store at your local Yogurtys, they will also give you a free gift card. The gift card entitles you to get a $40 discount on your next $99 spend online @ Shop.ca!

The best way to take advantage of this deal is to visit Yogurtys during their happy hour. This event takes place Monday through Friday, from 3pm to 7pm. During this time frame, you can take advantage of $5 unlimited froyos & toppings. So along with that, you will also get the free $40 Shop.ca gift card!

Regular prices on Shop.ca are not always amazing, but their free shipping is usually pretty excellent. So when combining the $40 off $99 with their regular prices, then you are sure to get some excellent bargains. Just as a quick example – this Oster Versa Performance Blender was originally priced at $149.99, it’s now $112.49, and you COULD get it for $72.49 with free shipping!

Please let us know in the comments below if you take advantage of this offer!

5 Tips to Save Money on Fine Dining

Posted by on March 7, 2015 at 8:00 PM

5 Tips to Save Money on Fine Dining

A wonderfully aesthetic and tasty appetizer, a delicious entree, and delectable desert.  A view, a romantic occasion to treat yourselves… these are just some of the reasons people like to dine out.

Personally I’m not a foodie but I do like to go to a nice restaurant once in a while for a special occasion like an anniversary or a birthday.  Some people I know like to go to a nice restaurant on a more frequent or monthly basis and they enjoy the experience of dining out.  There are some amazing restaurants here on the West Coast and I am very lucky to be able to taste some of these culinary delights.  For those that love to go out to a nice restaurant and try out different restaurants in their city, here are a few tips on how to save money on your next fancy meal out.

Find Restaurant Deals and Sign Up For Them

You can check out great updates from Bargainmoose’s Dining Out page for some excellent deals at your favourite restaurants across Canada.

Another website that I quite like is the Travelzoo website, just click on restaurants and look for your city (or the city in Canada that you want to dine at).  Some of the deals have been at some great restaurants in Vancouver and include deals such as a shared appetizer, dessert, and two entrees for two people for $49 (which would normally cost at least $75 to $100 for two people) at some of the very popular finer dining establishments in Vancouver.   Usually the entrees go for $25 to $35 per plate.  For most of these coupons you can also buy them for four people at a table (if you want to split it with your friends).

Choose Lunch Rather Than Dinner

According to Moneysense, lunch is usually less than one-third to one-half of the price of dinner, especially at fine dining restaurants (including those highly coveted and ranked Michelin star restaurants).  Therefore, it makes sense to go for lunch instead of dinner if you are keen on saving money and trying some culinary expertise at these fine dining establishments.

Avoid Alcohol

Five Ten Twenty club blog (a blog that helps you reach your financial goals at $5, $10, or $20 a day) recommends that you avoid buying alcohol.  As tempting as buying that glass (or half bottle) of wine may be, the mark-up at fine dining restaurants is astronomical.  The wealthy Donald Trump is well known for avoiding alcohol when he goes out to a restaurant for meals because he wants to avoid the mark-up.

Sign up for Newsletter or Email Updates from your Favourite Restaurant

If you have a favourite restaurant (or even chain of restaurants) take a few minutes to take a look at their website and sign up for their newsletter or email updates.  Although it might be annoying to receive yet another piece of junk email in your inbox, sometimes when you are in the mood to go to that restaurant and are looking for a deal, that deal will be there in your inbox when you conveniently need it.

In addition, if the restaurant is participating in giving out freebies on your birthday, signing up for their email (and giving a little bit of your demographic information) will allow you to get a freebie notification for your birthday treat, even if it is just a free appetizer.

Sign up for Open Table

Although the bang for your buck isn’t very much, according to LifeHacker, if you sign up for Open Table (an online reservations service that is free to sign up for and often used by restaurants), you will get 100 points for every reservations you make.  When you get 2000 points you will receive a $26 credit to use at your next restaurant dining experience.  Unfortunately that is a lot of reservations and a lot of dining out so this tip might not be worth the added expense of dining out so frequently!

I try to avoid dining out often in order to save money, but when I do dine out, I look for a deal to avoid the sting in the wallet.  It makes my dining out experience much better to know that I am getting more bang for my hard earned buck.

Bargainmoosers, do you have any tips to save money on dining out?

Canadian Freebie: McDonalds Small Premium Roast

Posted by on February 23, 2015 at 6:00 AM

Canadian Freebie: McDonalds Small Premium Roast

*** BUMP – it’s back! ***

This morning until the 1st of March, walk in to a McDonalds restaurant, order a small brewed coffee and then walk out. You don’t have to pay, you don’t have to buy anything else, because the coffee will be free.

You did hear me right when I said free. You’ll get a free coffee at McDonalds, just by ordering it. You can go back too, all day if you’d like really. My husband probably drinks about six cups of coffee a day, and these are small, so I’m sure he could down a good 12 free McDonalds coffees in one day if he so chooses to keep going back. He is often on the road too, so he could technically hit the drive-thru in our city, hit the road and progressively stop at each McDonalds on the way. It could be a challenge for him.

I’m sure he’ll end up ordering a Big Mac or a large fry or something else at one of the stops, but I’m sure that is the purpose here. He has also told me that McDonalds coffee is quite good, so it isn’t like you are getting free sludge, it is a tasty beverage.

I don’t have any other information for you about this free coffee deal, except if you drink coffee, go to it, get it.

Starbucks Canada: $3 Grande For Any Espresso Drink Hot or Iced (Facebook)

Posted by on February 16, 2015 at 9:43 AM

Starbucks Canada: $3 Grande For Any Espresso Drink Hot or Iced (Facebook)

Starbucks Canada is offering a delicious deal over on Facebook. Right now, you can claim a coupon to receive any espresso drink in the grande size for only $3. This deal applies to both hot and cold beverages.

Use your facebook account and claim the coupon that makes any grande espresso drink for only $3. No matter your coffee preference, you will save a minimum of 25% off your espresso drink.

I have a love affair with coffee. Starbucks is always a treat for me. While I find their coffee delicious, I also find it a bit pricey for an everyday splurge. I do love the taste of their vanilla latte. I have noticed the taste tends to have a much crisper coffee flavour than when I order a latte elsewhere. The only other coffee shop I have had this experience in was a small little shop while visiting Seattle. As Seattle is the home of Starbucks, the coffee shops out there must know some secret to make it extra delicious.

A grande espresso drink at Starbucks usually runs me about $4 plus tax for something basic like a latte. If I choose something fancier, it can go up to $5 or even $6 before tax is added. This coupon is going to save you a minimum of 25% off on your drink.

Claim the coupon code now via the Starbuck’s Facebook page and instantly a coupon will be sent to your e-mail. Then show the coupon to the barista to claim your beverage. Even better, you do not have to waste your printer ink. Simply show the barista on your phone to grab the deal. If the barista is having any trouble, the coupon says the barista can use the ring code 2441 for the register. You may be able to use this offer multiple times at different Starbucks. The baristas are pretty smart if you try to use the coupon repeatedly at the same location multiple times.

I had a little trouble at first finding my coupon. I discovered my Facebook posts are being filtered into another folder within my e-mail. The coupon should come instantly. If you are having trouble, try searching your e-mail for Starbucks Canada. If that does not work, try checking your spam folder in case the message was moved. If you still cannot find the message, you can try changing the e-mail on file with Facebook and re-sending the offer.

I do not know how long this offer will be available to grab. You have a couple of weeks to use the coupon itself. Over 20,000 people have grabbed this coupon already. If I were you, I would send this coupon to my e-mail quickly to make sure I do not miss the deal. I am not sure how many coupons Starbucks will give away before they are gone.

P.S. If you’re having any trouble getting the offer, click on this and show them the screenshot:

Harvey’s Printable Coupon: Get 2 Original Burgers for $6!

Posted by on February 14, 2015 at 7:00 PM

Harvey’s Printable Coupon: Get 2 Original Burgers for $6!

Happy Valentine’s Day! And what says I love you more than two juicy original burgers from Harvey’s for a mere $6? That’s what you can get just now, if you use this coupon in-store @ Harveys – either print it out from the link below or scan it and show it on your smartphone on your next visit.

The Harvey’s coupon above will get you two original Harvey’s burgers for only $6 in their restaurants. Typically, you’d be paying around $4 each for these, but I think that figure changes dependant on your province. Even so, two for $6 is a decent price for grabbing aquick bite.

Last year, Harvey’s offered 2 burgers for $5… but that’s inflation, eh?

When I was googling for some information about this deal, I stumbled on a Harvey’s review by Serious Eats, here. One of their main points in the article was:

For a made-from-frozen fast food burger, Harvey’s is pretty impressive.

I agree, their burgers are super-tasty and their poutine is pretty damn great too.

Harvey’s have a new item on their menu which I just spotted on their website – deep fried pickles! They’re pictured here:

Harvey’s Printable Coupon: Get 2 Original Burgers for $6!

What do you think? Yay or nay? I LOVE pickles personally, I’m a big fan of the crispy and juicy goodness when you bite into a burger with a pickle on top. But a deep fried pickle? I’ll have to reserve judgement on that one until I taste the final product. Please comment below if you’ve tried them – tell us how they were.

Boston Pizza Promo Code: Buy One Get One Free Pizza (EXPIRED)

Boston Pizza Promo Code: Buy One Get One Free Pizza (EXPIRED)

Today is Super Bowl Sunday! What better food is there to eat during the Super Bowl than pizza? Boston Pizza wants you to order it from them, so they’ve got a coupon code going for a buy one medium or large pizza online and get another free.

Click here to order your pizza @ Bostonpizza.com now

  • Coupon Code: TOUCHDOWN
  • Discount: Buy one, get one
  • Expiry: 1st February 2015

This coupon is only good for today and you can choose pickup or delivery.

I am not usually a huge fan of chain restaurants. I find that the food can be too salty, not made with pride and pretty generic. But, I recently went to Boston Pizza with my family and my in-laws and the food was actually really good. Boston Pizza is a great place to go with the family as its loud, the kids meals are awesome and it is not overly expensive.

As for ordering pizza, I don’t have one near me, but if I did, I would definitely be getting this deal on Sunday. I won’t be watching the Super Bowl, but I can definitely participate in the tailgate parties!

My in-laws ordered a pizza that night, and I had some the next day as they gave me their leftovers and it was really good. I like the variations they have on their pizzas – not just plain ol’ pepperoni and cheese. They’ve got ones like spicy steak and potato and spicy perogy. If you haven’t had potatoes on your pizza, you are really missing out. I’ve had a potato pizza from Boston Pizza before and it is tasty!

I’d love to try the sriracha pizza next.

Pricing depends on where you live, but the mediums are about $25 and the larges are about $30 and up. This means you are saving $25-$30 with this coupon. Of course, you could order in doubles, like four or six pizzas, to get the most out of this coupon and save a ton. Let me know what you get!

Whenever you order from Boston Pizza, you should check the coupon forum out first!

Pizza Hut Coupon Code: $10 Off $25 & More Promo Stacking? Glitch?

Posted by on January 17, 2015 at 9:15 AM

Pizza Hut Coupon Code: $10 Off $25 & More Promo Stacking? Glitch?

Pizza Hut Canada has a great promo code available just now. You can score $10 discount when spending $25 or more! Here are the details:

Click here to order online @ Pizza Hut Canada now

  • Coupon Code: 880
  • Discount: $10 off $25+
  • Expires: Unknown

The above promo code reportedly also STACKS on top of local deals, which may vary from store to store. When you land on the above link to Pizza Hut, click the “local deals” image and you should see any local deals in your area.

For example, I spotted a Panalicious bundle deal, which feeds up to 3 people. In this deal, you get 1 panalicious pizza, 1 small breadsticks, and a choice of either boneless bites or a cinniparts dessert. The price on this bundle deal was showing at $14.95, which was a $5 discount on their regular price. Ordering 2 of these panalicious bundles brings the cart total to nearly $30, and the coupon code brings it down to only $16 (plus tax). Here’s a screenshot of the cart:

Pizza Hut Coupon Code: $10 Off $25 & More Promo Stacking? Glitch?

The local offers you see might be different to the above, but they should stack with the coupon code to score you double discounts on your food order.

Now, I am really not sure if this is a glitch or not, it seems like a very steep discount when you apply the coupon code! If you’re interested, use it soon before Pizza Hut change the terms and conditions.

I know that it is January and many people are midst new year’s resolutions, including myself. One of my vows was to not have any takeaway food during this month, and I’ve stuck to it so far. So, I won’t be taking advantage of this Pizza Hut deal… but you are more than welcome to. Pizza Hut Coupon Code: $10 Off $25 & More Promo Stacking? Glitch?

2x Applebees Gift Card Deals ($40 for $50, etc)

Posted by on December 27, 2014 at 6:00 PM

2x Applebees Gift Card Deals ($40 for $50, etc)

Here are a few deals for those of you who live near an Applebees restaurant and want to make a bit of a saving the next time you dine there. I’ve been browsing around, and I found a few different offers if you are buying gift cards to use on your next visit. You can save at least $10… and I am sure there are a few Mooser families who eat at that particular chain of restaurants.

Deal #1: $60 for $50 via Groupon

This is a Groupon deal and if you buy a $50 Applesbees gift card, you will get a bonus $10 gift card on top of that, making it a total of $60 to spend there. I checked the fine print on the Groupon and it states that the gift cards are valid in the US and Canada. The $50 gift card never expires but the bonus $10 expires at the end of February 2015, so you might want to make a note of the short time frame on this one. This Groupon is delivered to your email, so you can just print it out and use it.

(Expires: 1st January 2015)

Deal #2: $40 for $50 via eBay.com

Even though this item is being sold on eBay.com, you don’t need to worry about untrusted sellers – it’s actually being sold by PayPal digital gifts. You can get a $50 Applebees gift card for $40 there. It says US only at the top, but it’s via an email delivery and the fine print says it is good in Canada as well, so there shouldn’t be a problem:

Usable up to balance only to purchase goods or services at any Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar® in the U.S. and Canada

That’s a 20% saving on your gift card purchase! 2x Applebees Gift Card Deals ($40 for $50, etc)

(Expires: 1st January 2015)

I know that Applebees restaurants are not everyone’s cup of tea. I was asking Moose author Kristy about the popularity of Applebees as I don’t actually live near one and I’ve only eaten at Applebees once in my life. While she’s from Quebec and doesn’t have an Applebees near her, Kristy says:

They’re known as a great place for quick appetizers and a drink for happy hour in the states.

How about you? Do you like Applebees?

Domino’s Pizza Coupon: Order Online & Get 50% Off All Pizzas (BUMP)

Dominos Pizza Coupon: Order Online & Get 50% Off All Pizzas (BUMP)

BUMP – code is has-activated now! It’s not often that we will write about online food deals, but this time is a little different. Domino’s Pizza has a fantastic new coupon code out that will save you a bundle of money on your take out or delivery orders.  Save 50% on all pizzas no matter the size until July 20th the 7th December when you order online.

Click here to order @ Dominos.ca now

  • Coupon Code: CAG5014
  • Discount: 50% off
  • Expiry: 20th July 2014 7th December 2014

One of the reasons why we don’t normally write about these online food deals is because normally, they are very specific.  For example, you can get this pizza for this amount but you have to get this size and order between this time on a Monday night.  There are normally so many exclusions and requirements that even if it is a good deal, it would really only appeal to a few readers.

This time around, it is 50% off every single pizza, every single size, any time from open until close on any day of the week until July 20th.  You can get as many toppings as you would like, orders as many as you would like and get any pizza including the make your own ones all for the 50% off.  It really doesn’t get any better than that!

A coupon like this can be used a couple of different ways.  For myself, it is the perfect opportunity to be a hero to my family and order pizza for dinner one night.  I can order extra (or everyone’s favourites) because it won’t cost me what it normally would without the coupon.  The second way you could go about this is be a hero in the workplace or for a sports team or gathering.  You will be able to pay half the price it would normally cost you to buy a bunch of pizzas for a big group.  You can get a variety of different pizzas such as plain cheese, specialties and even one with a ton of toppings for someone that loves it loaded up and they will all be 50% off.   It is a win win situation whether you go big and buy 10 pizzas or just get one or two for your family!

You will find this Domino’s coupon, along with a few other posted up on the Bargainmoose coupon forum.  You best bet is to look through and see which coupon will get you the best discount. Chances are, it will be the one I just mentioned.

What toppings do you like on your pizza Moosers?

Pizza Pizza: $2 Smile Pizzas on October 21st For Charity

Posted by on October 19, 2014 at 9:00 PM

Pizza Pizza: $2 Smile Pizzas on October 21st For Charity

For just one day only, Tuesday October 21st, you will be able to grab something very delicious to eat, and not only will it be a great price, but the money will also go to charity.  Pizza Pizza is having a promotion on Tuesday and offering 10″ half smile pizzas for just $2 each all day.

This pizza is half of a 10″ pizza with pepperonis in the shape of a smile.  Essentially, you will be getting half of a medium pepperoni pizza for just $2 each.  That is an awesome deal as a medium peperoni pizza retails for a lot more than that on an average day.

This deal will be in effect from open until close and you can get as many as you would like for just $2 each. Each pizza is packed with lots of pepperoni slices in the shape of a smile but you will not be able to get extra toppings on them, as this is a specialty pizza for this day only.  You can grab a few of them for barely any money at all and treat your coworkers for lunch. I wish there was a location near me to take advantage of this awesome deal. Unfortunately, Alberta just has Pizza 73 locations.

This great cause has been happening every single year since 2007 at Pizza Pizza. A portion of the proceeds from these smile pizzas will be donated to the 14 different hospitals that are a part of The Children’s Miracle Network. Additionally, if you are unable to take advantage of this deal, Pizza Pizza will be donating the proceeds of any medium plain cheese or pepperoni pizza to The Children’s Miracle Network.  This will happen throughout the rest of the month of October.

Since they have started this charity deal, they have raised over $1,300,000 for children´s charities across the country. That is a pretty impressive number.

Not only is this a great cause, this is a great deal as well.  You can grab a $2 lunch or grab a couple of them for inner for your family.

It does not actually say whether this is dine-in only or if you can order takeout so you may want to check with your local store to get the details.

Taco Bell Printable Coupon: Free Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme With Combo Purchase

Posted by on October 5, 2014 at 12:30 PM

Taco Bell Printable Coupon: Free Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme With Combo Purchase

Yummy, yummy in all of our tummies! Taco Bell has released a new printable coupon for a free Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme with purchase of any combo over $5.99.

So what exactly is in a Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme? Premium season beef, lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream… all within a crunchy Doritos nacho cheese shell. Have I made your mouth water yet? Mine is sure watering from just staring at the picture of the Doritos Locos taco on the coupon.

I haven’t tried the Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme yet but I bet it tastes just like nachos would. I know most nacho recipes don’t call for ground beef but if you were to make it with the kind of toppings that a recipe would call for, then I’m sure you would get an end product very similar to Taco Bell’s taco.

Granted, you still need to purchase a combo valued at $5.99 or more but this is still a pretty cool freebie! Personally, I love getting appetizers and food on the side of my main meal but hate having to pay even more for these. Fast food shouldn’t end up costing the same price as a meal in a restaurant with servers would! Alternatively, if you’re eating out with a friend, then you could always get one of those combos that could easily feed two and either share or have one person eat the free taco. Of course, you could just print out two coupons as well and each get your own combo but that’s not as budget-friendly of an option! Making It Count: Saving Some Cash While Dining Out

When you’re trying to maintain a tight budget, it takes some determination, discipline, and willpower to keep yourself from splurging on a night out on the town. There are many stores and restaurants that want you to spend your money, and when you combine that with some powerful marketing campaigns on television and in print, it can be a real challenge to strictly adhere to your budgetary needs every month.

Since we’re all human, it’s not too surprising that you’ll eventually want to go out every once in a while for a nice meal. When you’re used to a routine where you prepare all of your meals at home every single day, going out to a restaurant every once in a while can be a really enjoyable experience.

However, when you’re adhering to a financial plan, it’s important that you do this only when you can afford to do so – after all, you wouldn’t want to compromise your long term plans to save your money. When you’re planning to purchase a home, a vehicle, or even if you’re trying to save up for your child’s college fees, it can be done with a solid financial plan, but you need to stick to it.

That being said, there are several viable ways that you can have your cake – and eat it, too. Even though that cliché has been said hundreds of thousands of times, it really applies to the message I’m trying to convey here. There are some occasions where you can still spoil yourself while adhering to your budget, and I’m here to tell you that it’s possible.

Speaking from my personal experiences as a freelancer, there have been times when I’ve had exceptionally great cheques, and there’s been occasions where I’ve received payments that would barely cover my bills for the month.

Being a young 22-year-old when I just started to freelance, I wanted to continue hanging out with my friends and maintain a decent social life. It took some months to adjust and learn some crucial lessons about saving my money, but once I got there, I found the perfect balance.

It’s nice to go out on occasion and enjoy a nice meal, but it’s even nicer to be able to spend your money without regretting it. After all, according to Numbeo, the average three-course meal for 2 at a mid-range restaurant costs $60. If you can save up that much without it hurting your budget, then it’s time for you to go enjoy a nice meal that you don’t have to prepare – or clean up!

At this time, I’m going to discuss some important tips that I still use to this day that help me save some cash while eating out. You can check them out below.

When planning out your budget, create an “entertainment fund”. While you’re embracing a frugal life, take some money out of your earnings and put it aside for entertainment-related purchases, like a night out at a nice restaurant. If you really want to squeeze that penny, try putting $10 of your earnings aside for each pay period. If that’s a stretch, try $5. Either way, it will grow faster than you think.

Reconsider some of your fringe purchases. If you feel that you really need to get that latest video game, movie, or book, reconsider your stance on the matter. Are there still any movies, books, or video games that you have that you haven’t even checked out yet? Rather than spending it on those forms of media, perhaps you should consider putting it into your entertainment fund. After all, those items won’t be going anywhere (and they may even be on sale by the time you decide to purchase them).

Do some research before you purchase your groceries. Check out online flyers before you do your weekly shop. Think about your actual necessities that you need to buy, and try to stay away from unnecessary snacks or frozen foods that you’ll probably try once then leave in your freezer forever – I know I used to do that constantly! In fact, you can find some great deals and coupons right here on Bargainmoose.

Decide on three possible restaurants that you’d like to try out, then check out Bargainmoose to see if there’s any coupons that can help you save even more! You can find the latest deals and coupons for thousands of Canadian locations here on Bargainmoose. Best of all, we are constantly updating visitors with the latest and greatest bargains!

When you’ve saved up enough, enjoy your night out and remember that you can always save up for your next occasion! Everyone needs to figuratively let their hair down on occasion, and you just can’t go wrong with a night out – especially when you’ve worked so hard to earn that night out by saving your money!

In closing, I hope that these tips can help some of my readers. If you’d like to share any tips on saving some cash while eating out, feel free to leave them in the comments below!
